1. ISRAELI OFFICIALS BLAST U.S. IRAN POLICY

Since Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's visit to Israel last week, during which Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu openly and in Panetta's presence decried U.S. policy toward Iran as ineffective, Israeli media have been reporting further bitter charges against Washington by Israeli officials. On Sunday Ynet, website of the Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot, reported that "the Obama administration's efforts to calm down the Israeli government on the topic of Iran have not made an impression with Jerusalem decision makers," and that senior officials - leveled severe criticism against the US, declaring that the American position on a date for a military strike against Iran was a "wretched red line." "The US' stance is pushing the Iranians to become a country at the brink [of nuclear capability]," explained sources well versed in the nuclear issue. "The Americans are de facto allowing the Iranians to continue to enrich uranium and become a country at the brink. We are not prepared to allow that [to happen]."

Ynet quotes the officials as saying further: "The Americans say that the ayatollahs' decision to construct a bomb is the red line - Who knows when they'll decide and what they'll decide. "The centrifuges are spinning and the uranium enrichment level is growing significantly over the past few months. The Iranians are not impressed with the threats and continue on their path in spite of the heavy sanctions."

The mood of growing alarm about Iran, and growing frustration over the Obama administration's failure to deal realistically with the problem, is only exacerbated by mounting global-jihad activity on Israel's borders.

Given the unsatisfactory talks with Panetta last week, the words conveyed a resonance going beyond the issue of the Sinai border. And it pertains to Iran, which has been encouraged by the rising Islamist tide and not at all deflected from its nuclear path by the West's sanctions and talks. Whether Israel will apply the paradigm of "relying only on itself" to the Iranian issue remains to be seen, but these days it seems more a possibility than ever.

2. DECISION BY NETANYAHU, BARAK TO STRIKE IRAN IS ALMOST FINAL

Channel 2 News, the country's leading news program, devoted much of its Friday night broadcast to the issue, detailing the pros and cons that, it said, have taken Netanyahu and Barak to the brink of approving an Israeli military attack despite opposition from the Obama administration and from many Israeli security chiefs.

Obama does not want to intervene militarily before the presidential elections in November, and it is doubtful that he would act afterwards, runs the Israeli assessment, the TV report said. Obama may believe that the US can live with a nuclear Iran, but Israel cannot, the report quoted those in "Netanyahu's circle" as saying.

As for presidential challenger Mitt Romney, he takes a more forceful position, but would probably not have the domestic support necessary to act in the first year of his presidency, if elected, and after that it would be too late.

Netanyahu was reported to have said in private conversations that "if no one attacks, Iran will get the bomb" - underlining that he does not believe sanctions will thwart Tehran.

Diplomatically, an Israeli strike would prompt a confrontation with the US, global protests, international isolation for Israel, de-legitimization, and a situation in which Israel was seen as the aggressor. But if Iran got the bomb, Israel would be defeated and humiliated diplomatically, and would become a liability to the US, the TV report said Israel's two key leaders believe.

"It becomes clear time after time that when it comes to the safety of Israeli citizens, Israel must and can rely only on itself. No one can fulfill this role except the IDF and different Israel security forces of Israel, and we will continue to conduct ourselves in this way," Netanyahu said. (Times of Israel)

3. SAUDI ARABIA: WE'LL INTERCEPT ANY IAF AIRCRAFT EN ROUTE TO IRAN

More obstacles? Saudi Arabia has informed Israel that it would intercept any Air Force aircraft crossing its airspace en route to Iran, Yedioth Ahronoth [a daily newspaper published in Tel Aviv] reported on Thursday [Aug 9].

The explicit message was transmitted via the United States, during talks with Obama administration officials in Jerusalem. Senior Israeli officials have claimed that the Americans are leveraging the Saudi threat in an attempt to dissuade Israel from launching a unilateral offensive on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Last week, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the US would only be prepared to carry out a strike against Iran in 18 months, when a "critical threshold" was crossed, and was resolutely against an Israeli strike.

While Washington is trying to stall any military attack against Iran, The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the United States was pushing its Gulf allies to set up a regional missile defense system aimed at protecting strategic areas including military bases and infrastructure from an Iranian attack.

Therefore, America's challenge will be to convince the Gulf countries to "set aside their rivalries and share early warning radar data, and then integrate the capabilities of their unilateral missile interceptor systems to extend defenses over the entire region." (By Ynetnews, August 9, 2012)

4. MORSI'S ANTI-TERROR PLOY TO CUT ISRAEL FROM SINAI

Also roots out pro-U.S. influence in Cairo

Israel willingly acceded to Cairo's request for permission to deploy fighter planes and armored troop carriers in Sinai, which was ruled a demilitarized buffer zone under their 1979 peace treaty. It shared an interest in President Mohamed Morsi's counter-terror offensive against lawless Islamist bands. But when sensational reports started coming in from Cairo about non-existent Egyptian victories in which an improbable "60 gunmen killed," they realized the "offensive" was largely bogus.

According to debkafile's intelligence sources, Washington and Jerusalem strongly suspect that they should be worried about what the Muslim Brotherhood president is really up, especially after the sweep he conducted Wednesday, Aug. 8 of pro-Western military officers and other moves.

Our sources disclose that Tantawi had no part in this or any other military dismissals, although they were his prerogative. Morsi quite simply seized the moment to appropriate the top military command's authority for the first time by taking upon himself the firing and hiring of military officers. The president furthermore sacked the head of the Republican Guard, the division responsible for safeguarding the president and members of his regime and replaced him with an officer loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood, Maj. Gen. Hamed Zaky.

Mowafi had to go because he stood in the way of Muslim Brotherhood objectives. It was he who raised the alarm for months about an impending terrorist attack on the Egyptian-Gaza-Israel border junction and urged the deployment of attack helicopters for preemptive missile attacks on their networks. Instead of being commended, our sources report he was fired for two reasons: For what the MB thought of as his pro-western and pro-Israeli orientation; and for his efforts to broker a compromise deal for unifying the two Palestinian wings, the Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah. However, this not what the Brotherhood wants. Rather than Palestinian unity and compromise, the MB seeks a Hamas takeover of the Ramallah-based Fatah wing headed by Mahmoud Abbas. Gen. Mowafi stood in the way of this goal.

Israel's diplomatic-security cabinet meeting in Jerusalem Friday, Aug. 10, freely approved the transfer of assault helicopters to Sinai "for a few days"- although it didn't take a counter-terror expert to realize that there is no way a couple of helicopters could wipe out hidden terrorist networks in just days. But the ministers decided on advice from Washington to go along for now with the show Morsi and the Muslim Brothers were putting on, so as not to look obstructive.

5. IAF THWARTS TERROR ATTACK AT EGYPT BORDER

Arab news outlets reported Sunday that 15 Egyptian policemen were killed in an armed attack on a police station in north Sinai Peninsula at a security checkpoint in Rafah.

The gunmen reportedly took control of two Egyptian armored vehicles using RPG missiles and explosives. One of the vehicles blew up near the Kerem Shalom border crossing [Gaza-Egypt-Israel crossing], while the other one managed to infiltrate into Israel. The gunmen fired tank shells toward Israeli forces stationed at the border, but IAF aircraft managed to hit the armored vehicle. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that there were no casualties among IDF forces or Israeli civilians.

The IDF reported that around 8pm, the terrorist cell managed to take over an Egyptian base in north Sinai and killed at least 10 Egyptian soldiers. At 8:15pm, one of the armored vehicles hijacked by gunmen blew up at Kerem Shalom border crossing and the second one managed to cross into Israel but was bombarded by the IAF shortly afterwards.

Several of the terrorists tried to escape from armored vehicle, but were hit by IAF fire. The bodies of four terrorists were found on the Israeli side and three others were found on the Egyptian side. Heavy IDF forces were called up to the sector and started scouring the area. "We are maintaining contact with the Egyptians and continuing to cooperate with them," said IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yoav Mordechai.

Mordechai noted that the attack was unrelated to the IAF strike in Gaza earlier on Sunday, which killed a global jihadist movement terrorist who was planning attacks against Israel. Reacting to the incident, senior security officials said that the terrorists who tried to infiltrate Israel were planning a major terror attack. "Should they have succeeded, it could have been a very serious terror attack. A major disaster has been prevented."

The Hamas leadership in Gaza issued a statement denouncing the attack on Egyptian troops, saying: "Hamas condemns this ugly crime that killed a number of Egyptian soldiers and extends its deep condolences to the families of the victims and to the leadership and the people of Egypt." 6. NUMBER OF THREATS FROM SINAI GROWING

Defense officials told Ynet Monday [August 6] that the Shin Bet [Israeli internal security organization] and Military Intelligence [MI] collaboration and intelligence-gathering tactics have proven effective in thwarting a potentially devastating terror attack Sunday.

A GOC Southern Command inquest into the events of Sunday night derived that the IDF [Israel Defense Force] had intelligence indicating an imminent threat of terror from the sector, including a Shin Bet alert suggesting that Sinai terror groups were planning a combined attack against Israeli and Egyptian forces.

The information prompted increased IDF deployment near some of the more vulnerable points of the Sinai border and allowed the military to prevent the terrorists' armored vehicle-taken from Egyptian patrolmen after killing 16 men-and a truck carrying half a ton of explosives, from reaching their destination-Israel's Gaza vicinity communities.

Defense sources told Ynet that it is likely that Iran or Hezbollah were not part of this attack. Still, MI sources added that the number of threats from the sector is growing, at times exceeding the threats coming from Gaza.

Earlier Monday, Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said on its website that the attack "can be attributed to Mossad" [Israeli intelligence agency] and that it was a ploy meant to upset Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's new regime. 7. HEZBOLLAH SMUGGLED EXPLOSIVES INTO ISRAEL

A government source said that "Hezbollah is the long arm of Iran," adding that "this terrorist organization will undoubtedly barrage Israel with thousands of missiles. It won't begin with Kiryat Shmona and end in Haifa but will reach further into Israel. Hezbollah could cover Israel with rockets."

According to additional assessments, Hezbollah has acquired medium-long range Scud missiles. However IDF [Israel Defense Force] sources have asserted that it holds a significant list of targets which will enable the Israeli Air Force to hit long-range missile launch pads.

"In the event of a Hezbollah attack, there is no doubt that one of the first missions will be to destroy Hezbollah's long-range missile launch pads, just as we did during the Second Lebanon War," said an official source. When asked why Israel has yet to launch a preemptive strike on the targets, the source said that "a preemptive attack means instigating war. We can't constantly be in a state of endless fighting."

"The recent developments indicate that Israel has the means to handle a missile attack from Iran or from the Gaza Strip. The major problem Israel currently faces is the significant missile arsenal the Hezbollah holds and its ability to fire rockets at Israel for a long period of time," said the official source.

Defense Ministry experts have estimated that in a war with Iran and Hezbollah, some 300 Israeli civilians will die. The forecasts are based on the number of missiles and rockets the enemy has, data accumulated in the wake of previous wars, and preparedness in the Israeli home front. While senior security establishment officials vehemently warn against the ramifications of a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, security and government assessments indicate that the biggest threat to Israel is a deadly response from Iran's ally Hezbollah, whose leader Hassan Nasrallah has previously warned that its missiles and rockets could strike anywhere inside the Jewish state.

A government source said that "Hezbollah is the long arm of Iran," adding that "this terrorist organization will undoubtedly barrage Israel with thousands of missiles. It won't begin with Kiryat Shmona and end in Haifa but will reach further into Israel. Hezbollah could cover Israel with rockets."

9. AS ASSAD TEETERS, ISRAEL PREPARES FOR BATTLE TO SECURE CHEMICAL WEAPONS

HAIFA, Israel - As Syria's regime teeters on the brink of collapse, Israeli soldiers and civilians alike are preparing for possible military action to make sure Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons don't fall into the hands of terrorist groups.

Sources close to the Israel Defense Force told FoxNews.com soldiers have been put on standby and are ready to move, while civilian demand for gas masks has jumped 66 percent over the last few weeks from 2,200 to 3,700 per day. The fears center around the prospect of Hezbollah getting Syrian chemical weapons as the Assad regime shows imminent signs of collapse. "Israel...will not hold back and will respond decisively if this happens," Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said.

Hezbollah, (the Islamic militant group based in south Lebanon, supported by both Syria and Iran), who has long called for the destruction of Israel, is the prime candidate to take possession of the armaments. Speculation is mounting about when and how Israel will deal with the prospect of chemical weapons being spirited away during the chaos of Assad's likely fall.

The potential breakdown of the Syrian regime has reportedly paved the way for any number of Islamist terror groups, including Al Qaeda, to blend in with the Free Syrian Army, giving them cover to get at the a chemical weapons stockpile Assad acknowledges having. That could potentially pose a massive threat to Israel's security and inflict significant civilian casualties, according to experts.

Meanwhile, the race to locate the chemical weapons has reportedly been taxing a number of international security agencies, including the CIA, desperate to ensure the arms won't fall into the wrong hands and spark an all-out regional war. One report suggested that a group of Jordanian commandoes had been sent into Syria to try and recover the weapons, while Turkey's intelligence agency is another with good reason to fear unaccounted for weapons.

Kweller believes Israel and Turkey could well be on the verge of setting aside recent disputes to jointly focus on the danger a de-stabilized Syria poses them both.

10. REPORT: SYRIA MOVES MISSILES TO LEBANESE BORDER

The Syrian army has moved new surface-to-air missile batteries to the Lebanese border, Arab media reported Friday. The report comes after Israel had warned it will strike Syria's chemical facilities if President Bashar Assad transfers his chemical stockpile to Hezbollah.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he does not preclude the possibility of military intervention in Syria and Defense Minister Ehud Barak stressed that Israel will consider action.

The London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat also addressed the deployment. A Lebanese military source told the paper there is no concrete information on the deployment of surface-to-air batteries on the border. He explained that the reinforcements were routine steps taken by the Syrian army in order to prevent the infiltration of gunmen from Lebanon into Syria.

Lebanese military expert Nizar Abdul Kader said, "The Syrian military reinforcements were meant to warn outside elements of mounting military intervention against the regime. The deployment of anti-aircraft missiles is a precaution against airstrikes that can harm the Syrian regime."
Also Friday, Mortars rained down on a crowded marketplace in a Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus, killing 21 people as regime forces and rebels clashed on the southern outskirts of Damascus, activists said.

The Britain-based Syria Observatory for Human Rights, which reported the deaths, said the shells hit Yarmouk camp Thursday as shoppers were buying food for the evening meal. The activists with the group would not speculate on who was firing.

Moving dangerous missiles to the border of another nation leaves many leaders outside of Syria but nearby wondering what is being planned. Accelerating the concern is the large supplies of both chemical and biological weapons within Syria. Direct our prayers Lord that we may pray within Your will for protection of nearby nations and innocent civilians, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

11. NETANYAHU SEEKS UNPRECEDENTED POWERS

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to amend the government's protocol in such a way that would grant him unprecedented power. The amendments could have dramatic consequences in the backdrop of a possible strike on Iran seeing as most cabinet ministers currently oppose military action. The prime minister's bureau explained that the move is meant to "improve governance." In effect, the amendments mean that Netanyahu would be able to easily secure a majority for fateful decisions.

The new protocol will grant the PM virtually unprecedented power. The PM will be able to restrict voting to present participants only, thus ending the practice of voting in absentia. Only ministers on overseas trips who appointed replacements will be able to vote in absentia. The PM will also be able to attend any ministerial committee meeting and have the same voting power as any other member. This could affect the ministers' voting patterns.
The revised protocol stipulates that decisions can be reached through phone voting - 12 hours after the first call is made. The PM will also have the power to shorten or extend this timeframe. The PM's aides explained this amendment is meant to prevent a situation where ministers change their positions days after a decision is made. Until now, ministers were given a week to respond to proposed resolutions not discussed at the meetings. (Ynet News) Read more.

As evidence mounts that foreign Islamists are fighting alongside Syria's increasingly radicalized rebels, Christians in Aleppo and elsewhere are taking up arms, often supplied by the regime.

"We saw what happened to the Christians in Iraq," Abu George, a Christian resident of Aleppo's Aziza district told GlobalPost. "What is going on in Aleppo is not a popular revolution for democracy and freedom. The fighters of the so-called Free Syrian Army are radical Sunnis who want to establish an Islamic state." While the 30-year-old shopkeeper said he had not received any direct threats from Syria's Sunni Muslim rebels, he fears a repeat of Iraq's sectarian bloodletting.

The plight of Christians in Iraq has long worried Syria's estimated two million Christians, around 10 percent of the population. The nightmare of similar persecution has led them to support the secular regime of President Bashar al-Assad, which presents itself as a defender of minorities.

With Syria now gripped by civil war and the Assad regime fighting for its survival, however, Christians like Abu George fear retribution, already occurring in some parts of the country, from the Sunni-led rebels they refused to back. (Global Post)

2. ASSAD'S PRIME MINISTER FLEES TO JORDAN

Syrian President Bashar Assad's prime minister Riyad Hijab fled to Jordan Monday and declared, "As of today, I am a soldier of the Free Syrian Army," while Syrian President Bashar Assad escalates his onslaught in Aleppo. Three other ministers also fled. Jordan confirmed Hijab's asylum, but the Syrian regime immediately announced that he was fired, two months after he was appointed.

Hijab's defection was one of the most high profile desertions from President Bashar al-Assad's political and military circles, Reuters reported. On Sunday, al Arabiya television reported a senior Syrian intelligence officer had also defected to Jordan. Hijab may have seen the writing on the wall as Assad survives with the diplomatic if not military support of Russia and China, but it is questionable how much longer they can justify their alliance as Syrian war planes bombed civilians in the capital and in the commercial hub of Aleppo. The violence has already shown elements of a proxy war between Sunni and Shi'ite Islam that could spill beyond Syria's border. The rebels claimed responsibility for capturing 48 Iranians in Syria, forcing Tehran to call on Turkey and Qatar - major supporters of the rebels - to help secure their release.

Assad is a member of the Alawite faith, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam that has dominated Syrian politics through more than 40 years of his family's rule in a country that has a Sunni Muslim majority. He is supported by Shi'ite Iran and by Lebanon's armed Shi'ite Hizbullah terrorist organization and political party.The Sunni-ruled Muslim Gulf Arab states have called for rebels to be armed and Turkey has provided them with a base, angering Damascus and prompting Syrian state television on Sunday to refer to the rebels as a "Turkish-Gulf militia." 3. CONGRESSMAN BILIRAKIS INTRODUCES RESOLUTION CONDEMNING
SYRIAN HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS

Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission and the International Religious Freedom Caucus, introduced H.Res. 763 on Thursday that condemns the targeting of vulnerable religious minorities in Syria and calls on the United States to predicate future conversations and policies on the importance of the safety and security of these communities.

"The violence in Syria has affected the entire country, with accusations of torture and extrajudicial killings committed by both the Assad government and rebel forces. Members of religious minority communities including Christians, Ezidis, and Mandaeans are caught in the middle of this violence. These communities lack a means to protect themselves and are susceptible to pressure from all sides of the conflict, as well as targeted retaliatory attacks and displacements," Bilirakis said.

"This resolution highlights the religious diversity in Syria and the ancient and indigenous ties that these vulnerable minority communities have in the region. It calls for future aid to be preconditioned on the Syrian Government's fulfillment of its obligation to protect religious minorities and human rights. It also calls upon the U.S. Secretary of State to prioritize the safety and security of these vulnerable minorities and to work with the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom to ensure that our policies moving forward will promote a Syria where religious freedom for all is obtained."

- Although this resolution does not appear to have passed yet because it was introduced the same day that the House went on recess, please pray that it will be brought up again when the House re-convenes in early September. 4. IRAN TESTS SHORT-RANGE MISSILE WITH NEW GUIDANCE SYSTEM

Iran has test-fired a new, more accurate short-range missile capable of striking land and sea targets, it said on Saturday, a show of strength that underscored its ability to hit shipping in the Strait of Hormuz if attacked.

Israel has said it is considering military strikes on Iran's nuclear sites if the Islamic Republic does not resolve Western fears it is developing atomic weapons technology, something Tehran denies. Iran says it could hit Israel and U.S. bases in the region if it comes under attack. It has also threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, the neck of the Gulf through which 40 percent of the world's sea-borne oil exports pass. The missile has a range of around 180 miles, meaning it could strike Iran's immediate neighbors and might also be able to hit Hormuz shipping, as well as energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and the U.S. fifth fleet in Bahrain. Such moves would risk a military response from the United States.

"Using new guidance methods, target-striking systems were installed on the missiles and during the flight test . . . its ability to hit the target without deviation was proven," Vahidi said, according to IRNA. "In future programs, all future missiles built by the Defense Ministry will be equipped with this capability," he added.

The former head of Israel's intelligence service Mossad Efraim Halevy on Thursday said on Israel Radio he "would be very worried about the next 12 weeks," if he were Iranian. (New York Post) Read more.

If a weapon is built by man, it has the potential to misfire, stray from its target, or simply fail to work. Pray for anything to occur that renders such weapons ineffective. 5. IRAN PREPARING MAHDI'S SPECIAL FORCES

The Quds Forces, a special Iranian unit of thousands of operatives tasked with exporting Iran's Islamic revolution, are being told to step up preparations for terrorism for the coming of the last Islamic messiah and the destruction of the West. Ali Saeedi, the Iranian supreme leader's representative to the Revolutionary Guards, emphasized during a Friday sermon in Tehran that the Islamic republic must directly confront America so that the necessary environment is created for the reappearance of Mahdi, the Shiite's 12th imam, who will kill all infidels and raise the flag of Islam in all corners of the world.

"In three points of history, God directly confronts the will of unruly humans in which, of course, the Right will overcome the False," Saeedi said, according to the Sepah News, the Guards' official publication. "The first point in history was during the era of pharaoh, the second era was Bani Abbas, and the third is our current era in which it seems that God has willed us to enlighten the world with the coming of Imam Mahdi." Saeedi, "Many of the signs [necessary] for the coming have taken place during the previous years; however, the main sign will take place right before the coming."

There are five levels of readiness that have to be prepared for the coming, he said: "Individual readiness, the readiness for creating the environment, systematic readiness, the readiness in the region and the international readiness. This means Occupy Wall Street must take place, the Americans must lose hope with the Democratic Party and others, and lose faith in the U.N., while at the same time the unraveling in the Middle East, which was not ripe before, must have taken place before the coming."

While the Quds Forces have recently expanded their operations in shipment of explosives to Latin America, Africa and other places in the world, and at the same time have put terror cells on high alert for terrorist acts, the Islamic regime in Iran has expanded its nuclear program in which over 11,000 centrifuges are now running at two facilities, increasing its enriched uranium stock. As of the last report in May by the IAEA, Iran had enough enriched uranium for six nuclear bombs, and despite all negotiations and recent sanctions, the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, announced days ago that there will be no turning back from the nuclear path. 6. SAUDI SILENCE ON INTELLIGENCE CHIEF BANDAR'S FATE DENOTES PANIC

Disquiet in Washington, Jerusalem and a row of Middle East capitals is gaining ground the longer the Saudi government stays silent on the reports of the assassination of the newly-appointed Saudi intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan, purportedly in a revenge operation by a Syrian intelligence death squad. If true, it would shoot a devastating tentacle out from the Syrian conflict to the broader region.

It is widely feared that Saudi rulers are too traumatized to respond by the fear of Iranian penetration of the highest and most closely guarded circles of Saudi government, possibly climaxing in Bandar's assassination. The unconfirmed reports of his death attribute its motive to revenge by Iran and Syria for the bomb explosion five days earlier in Damascus which killed four of Bashar Assad's top managers of his war on the uprising against his regime.

The prince, son of the late crown prince Sultan, has not been seen in public since Saudi General Intelligence headquarters in Riyadh was hit by a bomb blast Monday, July 23 killing his deputy, Mashaal al-Qarni. DEBKA-Net-Weekly 550 of Friday, July 26, was the first world publication to report this attack, in the face of a massive official blackout, from its exclusive intelligence sources.

The unconfirmed report claiming Prince Bandar was critically injured and his doctors had lost the fight to save him, spilling out since Sunday July 29, has gained wide resonance - not because it was verified but because of its momentous strategic significance. So far, Saudi Arabia has been a reasonable friend to the USA. 7. MORE ATTACKS IN NIGERIA

There was pandemonium at Dunamis Gospel Centre, Nyanya/Mararaba branch, on Wednesday night, after a security man discovered a bomb in the church and raised the alarm. Over 1,000 worshippers ran helter-skelter and are still counting their blessings after they survived what would have been a massive bomb attack. The bomb was said to have been placed in the church during their evening service but failed to detonate. The anti-bomb squad of the police, which defused the bomb yesterday morning, described the bomb as foreign-made and capable of bringing down not only the church but surrounding buildings as well.

Reporters learned that it was later in the morning, about 11am, that an FCT anti-bomb squad arrived at the church to defuse the bomb and take it away, a ten hour difference between notification and the arrival of the anti-bomb squad at the church.. The leader of the anti-bomb squad was shocked at the size of the bomb. He said that, if the bomb had gone off, not only would it have flattened the church and everything inside it, but that it would have destroyed the surrounding buildings as well. The inscription engraved on it: it was 'Mountain Fire' or something like that."

The head of the technical unit of the church, Godstime Asuquo, who spoke when newsmen visited the church on Thursday morning, said the FCT anti-bomb squad was contacted immediately to detonate the bomb. He said it was only the grace of God upon the Church that did not allow the perpetrators of the dastardly act to succeed, adding that the church was planning to engage more security personnel to ensure adequate security in and around the church premises.

Reporters learned that the church had been having a week-long revival program to mark the beginning of a new month and that it was filled to the brim because the members had turned out en masse for the anointing and communion service. One security man said over 1,000 worshippers attended the service and that it was the biggest church attendance he could remember. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

8. OBAMA'S WAR ON PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

The Obama administration's support for its Islamist allies means a lack of U.S. support for their enemies or, more properly, victims-the Christian and other non-Muslim minorities of the Muslim world. Consider the many recent proofs:

The U.S. State Department removed the sections covering religious freedom from the Country Reports on Human Rights that it released on May 24, three months past the statutory deadline Congress set for the release of these reports. The new human rights reports-purged of the sections that discuss the status of religious freedom in each of the countries covered-are also the human rights reports that include the period that covered the Arab Spring and its aftermath. Thus, the reports do not provide in-depth coverage of what has happened to Christians and other religious minorities in predominantly Muslim countries in the Middle East that saw the rise of revolutionary movements in 2011 in which Islamist forces played an instrumental role. For the first time ever, the State Department simply eliminated the section of religious freedom in its reports covering 2011 (emphasis added).

The CNS report goes on to quote several U.S. officials questioning the motives of the Obama administration. Former U.S. diplomat Thomas Farr said that he has "observed during the three-and-a-half years of the Obama administration that the issue of religious freedom has been distinctly downplayed." Leonard Leo, former chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, said "to have pulled religious freedom out of it [the report] means that fewer people will obtain information," so that "you don't have the whole picture." - This article certainly exposes some of the mystery surrounding the behavior of our president. Without a direct statement, the article points to Obama's believing in the religion of his father and stepfather. Why else would this man ignore the persecution of Christians throughout the world? Pray for a night visit of Jesus to Obama, a visit so dramatic that the president cannot deny Jesus as the Savior of mankind, and he can repent for allowing Christians to be murdered. Pray also for Sec. of State Hilary Clinton, who has a Christian background, so that she will stand for what is right, rather than allowing the WH to dictate her every word and movement. Only the cleansing blood of Jesus can wash away the lust for power of both.

9. AUGUST 14TH: ISLAMIC "NIGHT OF POWER"

. . . the Night of Power is considered the night in which the first revelations of Islam and the (work) of Muhammed began. This night is in celebration of the arrival of the Qur'an.

The whole Night of Power, from sunset to dawn, is the holiest night of the year. It is believed that there are groups of special angels who are only seen on the Night of Power. These angels perform special purposes. Some come down for worship, others for granting the request of the believing Muslim. Other angels come down bringing with them proclamations of the coming year.

Today, many Muslims think this is a special night when God gives heed to their requests. Often they are open to dreams and visions as they seek for guidance and revelation. Many Muslims pray all night seeking a response to specific requests. One common belief is that angels will shower down the peace and blessings of God on all who remain awake during this "night of power". According to the Qur'an, God either listens directly or via the angel Gabriel, to the requests of Muslims concerning their fate. . . 1. GOP LAWMAKERS FILE SUIT AGAINST HOLDER

Republican lawmakers leading a congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious have filed a lawsuit in federal court urging a judge to compel the Justice Department to turn over documents related to the botched gun-running probe. In the lawsuit, lawyers representing House Republicans said Attorney General Eric Holder's "intransigency" and "contumacious refusal" to comply with a House subpoena have prevented congressional investigators from determining whether the Justice Department intentionally tried to obstruct their investigation.

The documents at the center of Monday's lawsuit are mostly composed of internal Justice Department emails after Feb. 4, 2011, when department officials realized they would have to retract a letter to Congress that denied Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents ever let guns fall into the hands of suspected criminals.

The lawsuit says Holder's "conception of the reach of 'Executive privilege'" would "cripple congressional oversight of Executive branch agencies" altogether. It's unclear whether the law is on the Republicans' side -- something the judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia will have to determine.
After the lawsuit was filed Monday, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said the Justice Department "has left the House no choice but to take legal action." A report by the Justice Department's inspector general looking at Fast and Furious is expected within weeks. (Fox News) Read more.

2. HOUSE  BIPARTISAN MAJORITY VOTES TO STOP ALL TAX HIKES

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Thursday released a list of 88 American economists who warn that the looming January 1 tax hike supported by President Obama and congressional Democratic leaders - which independent accounting firm Ernst & Young says will hit thousands of small businesses and cost the U.S. more than 700,000 jobs - will hurt the economy and must be stopped before it goes into effect.

"President Obama was wrong when he told small business owners 'you didn't build that'," said Speaker Boehner. "Entrepreneurs and innovators are responsible for their success, not government, and we need to get Washington out of their way. These economists agree: stopping all of the tax hikes scheduled for January 1 is necessary to prevent further job losses and damage to our nation's economy."

A bipartisan majority in the GOP-led House of Representatives voted yesterday to stop all of the coming tax hikes. The Democratic-controlled Senate, however, has taken no action to prevent taxes from being raised on small businesses - and Senate Democratic leaders indicated in a letter Wednesday that no action is planned in the coming weeks. Speaker Boehner and other House leaders have pledged that if the Senate passes legislation to stop all of the coming tax hikes, they will bring the House back into session in August if needed to ensure final legislation is sent quickly to the president. 3. NAPOLITANO: DRONES TO BE USED FOR "PUBLIC SAFETY"

Surveillance drones have a new mission. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) they will be used for "public safety". Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the DHS, told a House Committee meeting on Homeland Security that the more than 30,000 drones that will be deployed into American skies are just arbitrarily watching out for US citizens. Napolitano stated : "With respect to Science and Technology, that directorate, we do have a funded project, I think it's in California, looking at drones that could be utilized to give us situational awareness in a large public safety [matter] or disaster, such as a forest fire, and how they could give us better information."

Homeland Security currently operates drones to police illicit activity along the nation's northern and southern borders, as well as neighboring seas. But, increasingly, other government agencies are borrowing DHS drones or procuring their own for scouting populated areas -- without the department's supervision, lawmakers complain. DHS officials on July 19 declined to appear at a House Homeland Security Oversight, Investigations and Management Subcommittee hearing that largely focused on the department's role in protecting citizens from drone abuse. There is wide bipartisan concern that the remotely piloted planes will capture personal data, fall victim to hackers, or worse. (NextGov) Read more.

4. BRENNAN: INTEL LEAKS HAVE "ABSOLUTELY" DAMAGED SECURITY

Unauthorized leaks of sensitive information regarding American-led counterterrorism operations have "absolutely" damaged U.S. national security, according to a top administration official. "There have been some devastating leaks," chief White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan said Wednesday. "It's unconscionable what has gone out. And the president has made his displeasure abundantly clear to his senior team," he said during a speech at the Washington-based Council on Foreign Relations.

In recent months, a spate of information leaks detailing highly-classified U.S. counterterrorism operations have made their way into U.S. and international media reports. The leaked intelligence included information about a U.S. cyberattack on Iran, a terrorist "kill list" and a double agent operating in Yemen. While refusing to comment on any specific operation that may have been compromised as a result of the leaks, Brennan pointed out their disclosure has done irreparable damage to U.S. efforts to curb terror groups like al Qaeda and others. "There are very, very critical national security matters that require there to be protection of that information so it doesn't get out, so that we can keep the American people safe," Brennan said.

As a result, lawmakers are pursuing a number of mandates that would crack down on government officials who disclose sensitive or classified information without permission. Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee have approved legislation that will strip intelligence officials of their clearances for leaking to the press and block national-security officials from making contact with the media even after they've left the government.
The Senate bill also required congressional notification of all authorized classified disclosures, and threatened to revoke federal pensions for members of the intelligence community who leak classified or otherwise sensitive national security information to the media and are convicted by a federal court for such crimes.

While the Senate bill is designed to protect ongoing U.S. counterterror operations, congressional Republicans have used the legislation as a bully pulpit to slam the White House's handing of the leaks. GOP lawmakers have repeatedly accused administration officials of orchestrating the leaks for political gain.

. . . Brennan admitted that striking that balance between an informed public and maintaining operational security has created tension in the White House and across the administration. "I have said things about our counterterrorism program and in terms of what we do and how we're trying to do it. Consistent with the law, our ethics and values as a people. I'm going to continue to do that," Brennan said. "We do have an obligation to tell the American people about what the threats are coming from al-Qaeda," he added.
However, keeping the American public informed cannot come at the risk of endangering ongoing military or intelligence operations being carried out worldwide. Striking that delicate balance between national security priorities and the public's right to know may ultimately derail the Senate's efforts to crackdown on unauthorized leaks.

A spokesman for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Intelligence panel, acknowledged senators are taking these criticisms into account. The spokesman declined to comment on specific changes to the bill, but suggested they were possible. "Sen. Feinstein is looking at the comments and is open to changes going forward. She has said the bill is a work in progress," spokesman Brian Weiss told The Hill last Monday, regarding possible changes to the Senate legislation.

5. INHOFE: OBAMA DELAYS LAYOFF NOTICES UNTIL AFTER ELECTION

President Obama is trying to prevent thousands of layoff notices from going out a few days before the November election, Sen. Jame Inhofe (R-Okla.) said on Tuesday. Obama's Labor Department on Monday issued "guidance" to the states, telling them that a federal law requiring advance notice of mass layoffs does not apply to the layoffs that may occur in January as a result of automatic budget cuts known as "sequestration."

Inhofe, appearing on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, said President Obama, through his Labor Department, "is trying to intimidate businesses, companies, corporations -- not just defense contractors -- into not issuing the pink slips," which are required by federal law 60 days before mass layoffs or plant closings. "(T)he president doesn't really want all these pink slips going out five days before the election," Inhofe said.

He noted that if the automatic budget cuts kick in on Jan. 2 -- as they will if Congress can't reach a deficit-reduction agreement -- layoff notices would have to go out no later than Nov. 2. The general election is on Nov. 6.
Under the WARN Act -- The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act -- companies with more than 100 employees must give 60 days' notice if there is to be a mass layoff during any 30-day period for 500 or more employees (or for 50-499 employees if they make up at least 33% of the employer's active workforce).

But in guidance issued on Monday, Assistant Labor Secretary Jane Oates said never mind about those pink slips: "Questions have recently been raised as to whether the WARN Act requires Federal contractors . . . whose contracts may be terminated or reduced in the event of sequestration on January 2, 2013, to provide WARN Act notices 60 days before that date to their workers employed under government contracts funded from sequestrable accounts. The answer to this question is 'no.' In fact, to provide such notice would be inconsistent with the purpose of the WARN Act."

"You can't not comply with the law," Inhofe said on Tuesday. "Put yourself on the board of directors of Lockheed Martin. If they came out with a class-action suit of a thousand dollars per employee, that would be $120 million. You bet they're going to send out pink slips. Agriculture, cybersecurity bills stalled for now

On Thursday, August 2, after a final day of partisan battles over drought relief and cybersecurity, members of Congress streamed out of the Capitol looking forward to five weeks of vacation and a fall fraught with decisions on the political and economic future of the country. Most lawmakers were headed home to make their party's case for who should be entitled to tax cuts, how the government should avoid automatic cuts to defense and domestic programs and who should be the next president. Many will drop by the Republican and Democratic presidential conventions in Tampa, Fla., and Charlotte, N.C., respectively.

The last day, Thursday, saw lawmakers fall short in finding agreement on two pressing problems: how to help livestock producers suffering from the widespread drought and how to protect critical industries from cyberattacks launched by terrorists or other enemies. The GOP-led House narrowly approved a bill that would revive expired disaster relief programs for cattle and sheep farmers who have seen the price of feed soar because of drought damage to corn and other crops. But the Senate, controlled by Democrats, sidestepped action on the bill, saying that it was insufficient and that the House should instead consider a comprehensive five-year farm policy bill that the Senate passed in June.
The Senate also reached an impasse on legislation to bring the government and businesses together to protect the nation's infrastructure from cyberattacks. The main stumbling block was the role the Homeland Security Department and other federal agencies should play in protecting U.S. businesses. Republicans blocked further consideration of the Senate bill, supported by the White House, saying it would lead to Washington imposing a heavy hand on the private sector without substantially reducing risks. 1. BLACK PASTORS: OBAMA'S GAY MARRIAGE SUPPORT A "DISGRACE"

African-American pastors say that by embracing same-sex marriage, President Barack Obama threatens the stability of family, especially within the black community. The Christian leaders met in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, July 31, for the launch of their campaign urging black voters not to support the president as long as he's supporting gay marriage.

"Mr. President, I'm not going to stand with you, and we have thousands of others across this country that are not going to stand with you in this foolishness," said Rev. William Owens, leader of the Coalition of African-American Pastors. Owens said he supported Obama in the 2008 election, but that's not the case anymore. He and others at Tuesday's press conference believe the president is ignoring them and black voters while pandering to the gay community. 2. OBAMACARE REMAINS BUDGETARY AND POLICY DISASTER

Following the Supreme Court's decision on Obamacare, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) issued an updated cost estimate for the law, which unsurprisingly is not strikingly different from its previous estimates. Nonetheless, an examination of CBO's latest findings, along with other evidence, makes it clear that Obamacare remains a budgetary disaster.

The media once again focused on the supposed bottom line of CBO's latest projections and reported that Obamacare will modestly-by $109 billion-reduce projected budget deficits over the coming decade. However, there's more to this story, even using CBO's optimistic assessment.

New entitlements. Between 2013 and 2022, new entitlement spending will reach $1.7 trillion even though the main entitlement expansions do not launch until 2014. Over a decade of full implementation, the new entitlement spending will approach $2 trillion. Moreover, this spending will increase at a rapid rate each year-6 percent annually from 2017 through 2022.
New taxes. Over the coming decade, Obamacare taxes will reach $1 trillion, including new taxes on workers' wages and capital income, as well as taxes on insurers and manufacturers of medical products. These will get passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices and the taxes imposed on employers that will destroy jobs.

3. DOJ SUGGESTS CRITICISM OF ISLAM COULD BE CRIMINALIZED

In refusing to rule out a future law that would criminalize criticism of religion as racist hate speech, the Department of Justice has left the door open to the prospect of Shariah-style law in the United States that would forbid criticism of Islam. During a House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution, Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz) questioned Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez on whether the Justice Department would ever consider banning free speech critical of religion.
"Will you tell us here today simply that this Administration's Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?" asked Franks. Perez replied by asking for context before Franks repeated the question, adding, "That's not a hard question."

Perez then tried to add the context of "when you make threats against someone," but Franks stuck to his original question and repeated it for a third time. "Again sir, if you have a proposal that you are considering, we will actively review that proposal," responded Perez. "OK, here's my proposal. I'm asking you to answer a question, that's my proposal. I'm proposing you answer this question," said Franks, before repeating the question for a fourth time. Perez again refused to answer the question, asking for more context.
When a member of the subcommittee offered to "rephrase" the question for Franks, he responded, "I'm asking my own questions, I'll certainly allow you to ask yours.""If the Department of Justice can't even answer whether they will entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion, then it's pretty late in the day," concluded Franks.

Perez' evasive response clearly indicates that the Department of Justice under the Obama administration would consider a law that would override the First Amendment and classify criticism of religion as racist hate speech. (EU Times) Read more.

4. WHITE HOUSE REFUSES TO CRACK DOWN ON OWS PROTESTORS

The Obama administration told law enforcement authorities to go easy on Occupy Wall Street protesters, even though they were violating local laws, according to documents obtained by watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Emails from the General Services Administration show that the federal agency, acting on orders from the White House, told federal law enforcement authorities in Portland, Ore., not to enforce curfews on protesters camped out on federal property. JudicialWatch.org obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act request lodged last year.

In one exchange from Nov. 6, 2011, officials from the Department of Homeland Security and the GSA discuss a group of 11 protesters camped out at the federally-owned Terry Schrunk Plaza.
"They have chained themselves to a large drum filled with concrete," reads an email from Department of Homeland Security/National Protection and Programs Directorate Chief of Staff Caitlin Durkovich to GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner Robert Peck. "GSA controls the permits and has asked FPS [Federal Protective Services] not to enforce the curfew at park and the prohibition on overnight encampments. Our FPS Commander in Portland says they are standing down and following GSA's request to only intervene if there is a threat to public safety," she added in the email.

Peck -- who later resigned amid revelations his agency held lavish junkets at taxpayers' expense -- replied: "Caitlin: yes, that is our position; it's been vetted with our administrator and Michael Robertson, our chief of staff, and we have communicated with the WH [White House], which has afforded us the discretion to fashion our approach to Occupy issues.The arrests last week were carried out despite our request that the protesters be allowed to remain and to camp overnight." 5. U.N. COMMISSION CALLS FOR LEGALIZING PROSTITUTION WORLDWIDE

A report issued by the United Nations-backed Global Commission on HIV and the Law; recommends that nations around the world get rid of "punitive" laws against prostitution - or what it calls "consensual sex work" -- and decriminalize the voluntary use of illegal injection drugs in order to combat the HIV epidemic. The commission, which is made up of 15 former heads of state, legal scholars and HIV/AIDS activists, was convened in 2010 by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and is jointly backed by the United Nations Development Programme and UNAIDS - the Joint U.N. Programme on AIDS/HIV. The commission recommends repealing all laws that prohibit "adult consensual sex work," as well as clearly distinguishing in law and practice between sexual trafficking and prostitution.

The report--"HIV and the Law: Risks, Rights & Health"--cites a recommendation by the International Labour Organization, which recommends that "sex work" should be recognized as an occupation in order to be regulated "in a way that protects workers and customers." . . The commission calls laws against prostitution "bad laws," and said criminalizing injecting drug use and prostitution stands in the way of "effective HIV responses." "Laws that criminalize and dehumanize populations at the highest risk of HIV--including men who have sex with men, sex workers, transgender people and injecting drug users--drive people underground, away from essential health services and heighten their risk of HIV," the commission said in a July 9 press release announcing the report. 6. OBAMA ISSUES E.O. TO RESPOND TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN GLOBALLY

On Friday Barack Obama issued an Executive Order on Preventing and Responding to Violence Against Women and Girls Globally. The administration claims that it is to further enhance its efforts to advance the rights and status of women and girls, to promote gender equality in U.S. foreign policy, and to bring about a world in which all individuals can pursue their aspirations without the threat of violence.

The EO creates an inter-agency working group that is co-chaired by the Secretary of State and the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). It also directs departments and agencies to implement the new United States Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence Globally.

According to the EO, it will ensure that agencies within the federal government prioritize this issue in their implementation of foreign policy. Since it is a long term policy, there are requirements to update or revise the Strategy after three years.
The question going through my mind is why does the Executive Branch believe there is a need for it to supersede Congress in this matter which has global proportions? Second, will Barack Obama seek to bring this about in countries that he is sympathetic towards where the Muslim Brotherhood has seized power and it is widely known how they treat women? I'm guessing though that this is more political posturing to the female voting base to try and demonstrate that Obama actually cares about women. (Freedom Outpost) Read more.

7. OBAMA SIGNS BILL, EXEMPTS PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTEES FROM SENATE CONFIRMATION

President Barack Obama signed a bill Friday evening that would exempt some senior-level presidential appointees from Senate confirmation. Sponsored by Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer and cosponsored by Republicans and Democrats, the bill, now law, weakens the power of the legislature and strengthens the executive branch, critics have warned. The bill skated through the Senate three months after being introduced in 2011 and was passed by the Republican-controlled House 216-116 in July.

The law now allows Obama and future presidents to name appointees to senior positions in every branch of the administration, from the Department of the Treasury to the Department of Homeland Security.

Conservative critics worried that the bill restricts congressional authority to monitor executive branch decisions, but the measure received bipartisan support because of the gridlocked, slow-moving Senate, which is known for being the more deliberative of the two bodies of Congress. Whereas the House is a more populist body, the Senate grants more power to its fewer members. It only takes one senator to filibuster an appointee, forcing the majority party to find a "super majority" of 60 votes to end the filibuster and move ahead with an up-or-down vote.
The law now sidesteps that process, with Congress willingly giving up oversight of these appointees. "The United States Constitution does not bestow kingly powers on the President to appoint the senior officers of the government with no process," wrote Thomas McClusky, senior vice president for the Family Research Council's legislative arm, in a memo to lawmakers last week.

The positions exempted from Senate confirmation include high-level posts like the treasurer of the United States and chief scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and mid-level posts like the assistant secretary for management at the Department of Education. "America's Comeback Team"

Just moments ago, Governor Mitt Romney formally announced his selection of House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan to be his vice presidential running mate. He made the announcement at a naval museum in Norfolk, Virginia, with the USS Wisconsin as his backdrop. This is a bold choice, and I am very excited about this pick!

The selection of Paul Ryan shows Governor Romney is serious about confronting the fiscal challenges facing our country. It shows the kind of talented and experienced team Governor Romney will put together that will work for American exceptionalism.

Ryan is a strong conservative. He is pro-life and believes in traditional marriage. Of course, what he is most known for is entitlement reform and stopping the growth of government. He's 42 with a young family.

So this will be a youthful, forward-looking ticket, reminding us that with the right choices America's best days are still ahead of us. It will be a stark contrast to Obama's failed tax and spend policies that are taking us down the dead-end road of European-style socialism. It's clear which presidential ticket is serious about making real change!

Paul Ryan is a dynamic and energetic campaigner, who can easily explain the tough and often complex budget realities facing the country. You may recall that there is some tension between Ryan and Barack Obama. The two have sparred on previous occasions over Obamacare and the budget.

I have a confession to make. When I heard the news of Ryan's selection, the first thing I thought about was the vice presidential debate on October 11th. I immediately recalled what William F. Buckley said about a famous liberal who was afraid of debating him. Buckley quipped, "Does baloney fear the grinder?" 2. DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSES GAY MARRIAGE

For the first time, Democrats are moving to include support for same-sex marriage in their official party platform. A Democratic National Convention official said Monday the party's drafting committee voted during a weekend meeting in Minneapolis to formally support gay marriage. Delegates are expected to approve the platform during the party convention in Charlotte, N.C., in early September.

Gay rights advocates called the DNC decision a significant milestone. The effort got a boost in May when Obama voiced his personal support for same-sex marriage. But conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats say the move will make it even harder for their party to win swing states. The Democratic Party platform is also expected to reaffirm opposition to the Defense of Marriage Act, the federal law favoring traditional marriage.

- Father, continue to unearth the hidden agenda in the political realm. Pull out all the stops, Lord, and let us see just where these party platforms are headed. God, You sent three angels to earth to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because the homosexuals had taken over these two cities, and it is therefore impossible for You to turn Your head and not deal directly with the men who are advocating this lifestyle. The fact is, all who support this sinful practice are walking in direct opposition to the Lord God Almighty and are supporting the destruction of these people. We pray for mercy to be extended to the innocent who walk contrary to this extremely destructive sin. In the Name of Jesus.

3. OBAMA CAMPAIGN SUES TO RESTRICT MILITARY VOTING IN OHIO

-- A Key Swing State --

President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election? On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis," I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.
The National Defense Committee reports: [f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense's Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote. I think it's unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place. If anyone proposes legislation to combat voter fraud, Democrats will loudly scream that the proposal could "disenfranchise" some voter, somewhere. We must ensure, they argue, that voting is easy and accessible to every single voter. Every voter, that is, except the men and women of our military. Make no mistake, the Democrat lawsuit is intended to disenfranchise some unknown number of military voters. The judge should reject it with prejudice. (Breitbart) Read more.

By the power of the blood of Jesus, we ask You to destroy all fraudulent practices that are aimed at fixing the vote. Command honesty from every direction regarding the votes of the presidential election and break the interference from the powers of evil and shadow governments. Overcome wickedness by the power of the Cross of Jesus. In His Name we pray. Amen.

4. NAMES OF SENATORS NOW RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION

As so many of us remain intently praying over this national election for the Office of the President of the United States, it is important to remember that every member of Congress and approximately one-third of the Senate is up for re-election again this year, too.

We ask each one of our prayer partners to "do your own homework" regarding the candidates who will be running for Congress (House of Representatives) in your own Congressional District.

To help you pray for the Senate, please find below the names of the Democrats in that chamber that are running for office, followed by the Republicans. (Source: Wikipedia).
Then, let's agree in prayer with one member of Congress who is asking the following request:

"Please pray that the election results in November bring our country back to conservative and common sense policies in Washington. We need to live within our means, avoid unnecessary debt and spending, respect traditional social values such as life and marriage, and restore our national defense." Thank you!
