The Daily Brief - Thursday, November 30, 2006

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth . . . (Job 19:25)

1. Bush adviser raises doubts about al-Maliki - MSNBC

President Bush’s national security adviser has raised serious doubts about Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki’s ability to control sectarian violence, The New York Times reported Tuesday. National security adviser Stephen Hadley told Bush and other top administration officials in a Nov. 8 classified memo that the United States may have to take steps to strengthen the Iraqi leader politically, the newspaper said in an article posted on its Web site. “He impressed me as a leader who wanted to be strong but was having difficulty figuring out how to do so,” Hadley said in a text of the memo published by the Times.

• May Mr. Hadley be wise in releasing future information about participants and discussion topics in Heads-of-State meetings. May he ask Godly guidance on how to deal with important life and death matters, not only in Iraq and Jordan, but throughout the world. As Jesus warned, defilement comes from within. • "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." (Matthew 15: 11 NKJV)

2. Bush Meeting with Iraqi PM Delayed - AP

President Bush's scheduled face-to-face with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was abruptly shelved Wednesday night, a casualty either of a reluctance to include Jordan's King Abdullah II — as the Iraqis explained — or, fallout from the leak of a secret White House memo that questioned the Iraqi leader's ability to govern. . . White House officials told reporters that it was decided the three-person meeting was "in the end not the optimal way to spend the president's time," and it would not have been as productive as the previously scheduled separate bilateral meetings between the leaders.

• Dearest Lord, we rest in the knowledge that You are the giver of official positions and You determine their affairs. May this meeting occur at just the right time with You in its midst! • "Thus says the Lord God: 'Behold, I will lift My hand in an oath to the nations, and set up My standard for the peoples. Then you will know that I am the Lord, for they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.' " (Isaiah 49: 22a & 23b NKJV

3. Powell says world should recognize Iraq at civil war - Reuters

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said on Wednesday Iraq had descended into civil war and urged world leaders to accept that "reality". "I would call it a civil war," Powell told a business forum in the United Arab Emirates. "I have been using it (civil war) because I like to face the reality," added Powell.

• Please pray that former Secretary of State Powell will return to a sense of allegiance to his former Commander in Chief and administration. We ask for wisdom, too! May he not be a naysayer, but a supporter of our nation's foreign policies that he helped design! • "Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace have joy." (Proverbs 12: 20 NKJV)

4. Iran's Ahmadinejad Sends Letter to American People - Fox News

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent a lengthy letter to the American people Wednesday, addressing "Noble Americans" and urging unity with Iran in spite of what the U.S. government says and does.

• Woe to those who lie and plan evil. As the Lord admonishes in the ninth of His Ten Commandments: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." (Exodus 20: 16 NKJV) • He also inspired Solomon to encourage us in His Book of Proverbs: "The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble." (Proverbs 12:13 NKJV)

5. Lebanon Uncovers Syrian Assassination Plot - CNSNews.com

Lebanese security officials reportedly have uncovered a Syrian plot to assassinate 36 anti- Syrian individuals, the Lebanese newspaper al- Mustaqbal reported on Wednesday.

• Thank You, Lord for answering our prayers that hidden plans of violence would be revealed throughout the Middle East and the World! Thank You for saving these lives. May they know the great "I Am" is their true Savior! • "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." (Mark 4:22 NKJV)

6. Frist Will Not Run for White House in 2008 - Reuters

Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) announced Wednesday that he will not run for the White House in 2008 and will instead return to private practice after he leaves Congress in January.

• As different potential candidates for the presidency, from both parties, weigh whether to "throw their hats into the ring" in coming weeks, intercede that each one will hear and do as our Lord would direct. Ultimately, the government (of His Kingdom) rests upon His shoulder. • "The Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king, He will save us." (Isaiah 33:22)

7. Under pressure, Pelosi rejects Hastings for intelligence post - Miami Herald

In a test of her leadership, House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi rejected once-impeached Rep. Alcee Hastings as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, a move that could blunt early criticism she is paying lip service to ethics reform.

• Dearest Jesus, we humbly ask for help for Congressman Hastings that he will find his self-worth in You and not in the things of this world. We also ask for a softened heart toward You for this man and for House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi as she assumes the top leadership position in January. May they both seek Your wisdom and most importantly, Your Face! • "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God." (Colossians 2: 8 & 18-19 NKJV)

8. U.S. hurricane season ending quietly - MSNBC

The mild 2006 Atlantic hurricane season draws to a close Thursday without a single hurricane striking the United States — a stark contrast to the record- breaking 2005 season that killed more than 1,500 people and left thousands homeless along the Gulf Coast.

• We wish to thank all of you who have lifted up prayers in agreement with our alerts, asking our Lord to show His mercy upon our coastlands this year, and to restrain the forces of nature that cause hurricanes to form. With the many other challenges we face now as a people, this is the last thing we have needed this fall! Praise God for this answer to prayer. His mercy endureth forever! • "Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." (Psalm 136:1)

9. Al-Qaida in Iraq Denounces Pope's Visit to Turkey - AP

On Wednesday, Al-Qaida in Iraq called Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Turkey a "crusader campaign" against Islam. In Istanbul, Vatican officials said the remark shows the need for faiths to fight "violence in the name of God." The trip is the Pope's first visit to an Islamic country as pontiff, seeking dialogue with Muslims who were angered over a speech he made in September in which he cited a medieval text that linked Islam and its prophet, Mohammed, with violence.

• Our prayer, Father, is for Your protection and wisdom for Your servant Pope Benedict, his host, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogen, and their families and staffs. May all of us, as Your children, assume the "Character of the New Man" you speak of through Your convert, the apostle Paul, to win over Your enemies, that they might be rebuked and saved. • "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (Colossians 3: 12, 17 NIV)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure." (Psalm 7:9)

1. Rice will meet Abbas in Jericho to urge peace talks - ICEJ News

Local and foreign media reported Wednesday that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is scheduled to meet Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday in the West Bank city of Jericho. The meeting was announced a day after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert offered the Palestinians an opportunity to return to the negotiation table and work out a "real peace". Rice's meeting with Abbas will be their second in the last two months and the US official is expected to use the current ceasefire agreement as an opportunity to urge renewed Israeli- Palestinian peace talks.

2. Rice to tell Abbas: Don't miss opportunity, impose order - Ha'aretz

American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice plans to tell Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas at their meeting Thursday that he must increase his efforts to impose order in the Palestinian Authority, in order not to miss the opportunity to resume negotiations offered by the Gaza cease-fire and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's speech in Sde Boker on Monday, sources in Washington said Tuesday.

3. Israel, Arabs upbeat about ME peace after EU meeting - Jerusalem Post

Israeli, Arab and European Union foreign ministers were unanimously upbeat about Middle East peace prospects Tuesday after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reached out to Palestinians and a Gaza cease- fire took hold.

4. Peretz: Egyptian presence contributes to regional stability - Ynet News

Defense Minister Amir Peretz met Wednesday afternoon with Egyptian Intelligence Chief General Omar Suleiman, and the two discussed the deal for the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit and Palestinian prisoners, combined with a diplomatic move.

5. Israel set to purchase anti-Kassam system - ICEJ News

The Jerusalem Post reports that the Israeli defense establishment will make its official decision in the coming days on a $300 million investment in an anti- Kassam and anti-Katyusha defense system being developed by Rafael - Israel's Armament Development Authority.

6. UN Human Rights Council blasts Israel . . . again - ICEJ News

The Associated Press reports that the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) passed two resolutions criticizing Israel on Monday, but kept intact its record of singling out no other country in the world for human rights abuses. Even though the Human Rights Council replaced the overtly anti-Israel UN Human Rights Commission last June, the same symptoms of corruption and bias seen in its predecessor seem to have already taken deep root.

7. Pope soothes Muslim anger in Turkey - Reuters

Turks praised Pope Benedict on Wednesday for taking steps to bridge the divide between Christians and Muslims during his four-day visit to Turkey. Benedict's trip was originally meant just as a visit to Istanbul to try and bring the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches closer, but because of a misquoted and misunderstood speech in September, the trip became crucial for the future of Vatican relations with Islam. Benedict's comments on his first official visit to a Muslim country went a long way towards making up for that speech in Germany, which ignited Muslim fury and led to several attacks on churches and the murder of an Italian nun in Somalia. Much of the talk surrounding the Pope's visit, however, focused on his surprising new support for Ankara's bid to join the European Union.

We Must Confront Iran

For some time now, U.S. officials have suspected that the violence and instability in Iraq was being supported by Iran. In early March I wrote in this report that Pentagon officials were alarmed by the increasing lethality of the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) being used by Iraqi terrorists against U.S. soldiers and that there was evidence the improved IEDs were being manufactured in Iran.

Yesterday, the New York Times reported that Hezbollah – the Iranian backed terrorist group – is training members of the Mahdi Army, the Iraqi militia controlled by radical Islamist cleric Moqtada al-Sadr. According to Madhi Army commanders, at least 300 militia members fought alongside Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon against Israel this summer. Last night, CNN reported more recent evidence of Iranian involvement with the Shiite militias.

CIA Director General Michael Hayden, testifying before Congress this month, said, “I’ll admit personally that I have come late to this conclusion, but I have all the zeal of a convert as to the ill effect that the Iranians are having on the situation in Iraq.”

Given this mounting body of evidence, Iran’s nuclear program, and repeated statements by Iranian President Ahmadinejad that Israel and the United States will soon cease to exist, Iran appears to be at war with the United States. How odd then that big media, the James Baker Iraq Study Group, and all the leading liberals are saying we need to talk with Iran so that it will “help us.”

(Gary Bauer; End- of-Day; Nov. 28, 2006)

A Note to Our Readers:

The Iraq Study Group, headed by former Secretary of State James Baker and former Democratic Congressman Lee Hamilton, is due to release the report of its findings to the public next Wednesday, Dec. 6th. All indicators point to the need for urgent prayer over the possible recommendations of this report.

In that spirit, we are printing below a commentary on this development, written by Bill Wilson, author of The Daily Jot. We ask each of you to carefully and prayerfully read Bill's report, and to intercede accordingly.

It is written: "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Prov. 14:12)

Thank you.

America May Bargain Israel Support For Terrorist's Help In Iraq

The winds of change are blowing hard across the capital city of Washington, D.C. as politicians and their advisors mull over what may well be the most significant decision with prophetic implications of this century: the turning away of America from its unqualified support of Israel in exchange for Islamic help to solve the unrest in Iraq and Lebanon. President George W. Bush has assembled a team of policymakers and diplomats that have proven track records of their weak support of Israel to recommend and initiate policy changes, beginning with a summit this week in Jordan with Iraq’s Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki and others regarding both Iraq and the Israeli- Palestinian conflict.

There have been many leaks reported from the bi- partisan Iraq Study Group led by former Secretary of State under the first president Bush, James Baker, and former Democratic Congressman Lee Hamilton, both members of the globalist Council on Foreign Relations. Neither of these leaders is particularly friendly to Israel. Their panel is expected to make wide-sweeping recommendations that include enlisting the help of the very state sponsors of terrorism that are funding and arming the efforts against both the United States and Israel. Already Iran has said that it will do whatever it can to help its brothers in Iraq achieve social stability. And meantime, Iran is arming Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon and Gaza.

And the picture of Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad shaking hands with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani before their recent meeting in Iran is worth more than a thousand words. Iran says the oppressor, the United States, must leave Iraq for stability to occur. Ahmadinejad also has made recent statements that both Israel and the United States will meet their demise. Yet the globalists in the Bush Administration and on the Iraq Study Group will likely recommend a troop withdrawal and Middle East peace talks with Iran and Syria. And for enlisting Iran and Syria’s help, insiders believe the Bush Administration will give the international community free reign to squeeze Israel for massive concessions to the Hamas-led Palestinians.

Given the current geo-political configuration in the Middle East, American firepower is the only reason Islam has not tried to overrun Israel. The United States negotiating with Iran and Syria and withdrawing troops from Iraq will be viewed as a great victory by Islam and it will embolden the Russian- and Chinese-supported Islamofascists to attack Israel. In the ancient prophecy written in Zechariah 12:8-9 the Lord says “In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. . . And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the wisdom of leadership.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Today's Daily Brief - Tuesday - Nov. 28, 2006

1. U.S. Jet Crashes in Iraq; Mortar Attack Sparks Oil Pipeline Fire - AP

A mortar attack ignited a huge fire Monday night at an oil facility in northern Iraq, shutting the flow of crude oil to a major refinery, and a U.S. Air Force jet crashed in Anbar province, a hotbed of the Sunni- Arab insurgency, officials said. Al-Jazeera reported that the pilot was killed.

• Pray that this hotbed of the Sunni-Arab insurgency will be broken up and that they will not be able to communicate with each other any more. • "Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You; Let the wicked be ashamed; Let them be silent in the grave. Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous." (Psalms 31:17,18)

2. Iraq's President on Key Iran Visit - AP

Jalal Talabani arrives in Tehran as calls grow for Washington to get Iran's help in calming sectarian violence in Iraq. The Iraqi leader also is scheduled to meet Iran's former president, Hashemi Rafsanjani, later Monday and Iran's top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Tuesday. The United States has refused to negotiate with Iran and Syria to seek their support to bring stability to Iraq, accusing both Tehran and Damascus of aiding insurgent groups in Iraq.

• Pray that we will be strengthened in our resolve to not deal with terrorists! Pray that those counseling President Bush will see that to weaken our position and speak with Iran’s leaders will allow them entry into Iraq to wreck havoc! Pray for wisdom. • "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." (Psalms 18:2)

3. Security Tightened for Pope's Visit to Turkey - AP

Turkish security teams took up positions around the cities of Ankara and Istanbul on Monday, a day before Pope Benedict XVI was to begin his first visit to a predominantly Muslim country. Small protests broke out in both cities, but authorities say security measures for the pope — who angered Muslims worldwide with comments in September on Islam and violence — will be tighter than they were for the visit of U.S. President George W. Bush.

• Pray that these violent protesters will be kept far from the Pope. Pray that a hedge of protection will be surrounding the Pope with the peace of the Lord! • "Let them be ashamed and confounded who seek my life; Let them be turned back and confused who desire my hurt." (Psalms 70:2)

4. National Security Advisor Steve Hadley: On NATO Summit - White House

"The focus, as you know, on the importance of the NATO mission in Afghanistan; a number of steps that need to be taken so that NATO member countries increase their capability to be able to contribute to missions like Afghanistan; and then, finally, ways that NATO can increase its ties and cooperation with countries like Japan and Korea, that are assisting – and Australia and others – that are not NATO member countries, but are nonetheless assisting NATO in military operations and talks about how to increase planning and training and other things between NATO and those countries. Those are the sort of three major focuses of the NATO meeting that will occupy us for the next couple of days."
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/11/2 0061127-2.html

• Pray that the eyes of the world's leaders will be opened to see the need to support President Bush in this agenda. Pray for favor. • "Then Joshua rose up early in the morning and mustered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai . . ." (Joshua 8:10)

5. National Security Advisor Steve Hadley: On President Bush's Meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Al- Maliki This Week - White House

"As we've said, you know, the goal for Iraq remains the same: A democratic Iraq that is able to govern itself, defend itself, sustain itself and is an ally in the War on Terror. But we're clearly in a new phase, characterized by this increasing sectarian violence. That requires us, obviously, to adapt to that new phase and these two leaders need to be talking about how to do that and what steps Iraq needs to take and how we can support them."
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/11/2 0061127-2.html

• Pray that Iraqi people and leaders – especially Prime Minister Al-Maliki will be bonded forever faithfully and in a godly way to the U.S. for all that we have done for them. Pray they will be grateful and not forget their liberation! Pray for the continued hedge of protection around President Bush and the favor of God to be upon him with everyone he meets – especially the press. • "Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul." (1 Samuel 18:3) So Jonathan said to David, "Whatever you yourself desire, I will do it for you." (1 Samuel 20:4)

6. Cheney, Saudi king meet on ME crises - Jerusalem Post

US Vice President Dick Cheney held talks with King Abdullah on Saturday seeking Saudi Arabia's help on dealing with the spiraling violence in Iraq and a string of crises in the Mideast where American policy is on the line: Iran, Lebanon and the Palestinians.

• Pray for wisdom for all of the spokesmen for the Bush Administration, as our nation seeks to serve as a stabilizing influence in the Middle East in this hour. • "Ask and ye shall receive . . ." (John 16:24)

The Middle East in Focus

"O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure." (Psalm 7:9)

1. Israel accepts ceasefire offer - Jerusalem Post

Israel announced on Saturday, following a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, that it would accept the Palestinian factions' offer of a ceasefire.

2. Palestinian Leaders Attempt to Stem Rocket Attacks in Violation of Israeli Truce - Fox News

Rocket fire from the Gaza Strip at Israel died down Sunday after a daybreak cease-fire, giving hope the truce might end five months of bloody destruction and open a path toward peace talks, despite harsh statements from militants saying they would continue to attack Israel.

3. Chirac, Prodi call for European push on Middle East peace - Lebanon Daily Star

Italian Premier Romano Prodi and French President Jacques Chirac pressed for a greater European role in Middle East peacemaking at a summit Friday and called for the formation of a Palestinian national unity government. The two leaders, meeting in the Tuscan town of Lucca, said such a move would help end the recent bloodshed in the Gaza Strip and open the door for peace efforts, such as the initiative launched last week by Spain, France and Italy - the three largest contributors to a UN force in Lebanon.

4. Mashaal takes back 3rd intifada threat - Ynet News

Hamas politiburo Khaled Mashaal backed away from a six month deadline he set the day before for achieving a Palestinian state or else the militant group would launch a new intifada against Israel.

5. IDF: Gaza terrorists have anti-aircraft capabilities - Ynet News

According to a senior Israel Air Force officer, "terror organizations in the Gaza Strip have anti-aircraft capabilities." The IAF is a joint participant in most Gaza operations, particularly in pinpoint operations or assistance to ground forces.

6. Abdullah: Possibility of three civil wars in Mideast - AP

Jordan's King Abdullah said Sunday the problems in the Middle East go beyond the war in Iraq and that much of the region soon could become engulfed in violence unless the central issues are addressed quickly. "We could possibly imagine going into 2007 and having three civil wars on our hands," he said, citing conflicts in Iraq, Lebanon and the decades- long strife between the Palestinians and Israelis. (AP)

Talk to Whom?

The front page of the New York Times has yet another leak today of the deliberations of the Iraq Study Group (ISG) chaired by former Secretary of State James Baker. Even by Washington's standards, Baker’s group is setting a record for “loose lips.” The president won’t actually have to wait for the report, which is expected by the end of the year, he can just read it in installments in the Times.

Even worse is what the ISG will reportedly recommend as the way out of Iraq. According to the “experts,” we should sit down and ask Iran and Syria to help us find a solution! Has the ISG taken leave of its senses?

Syria and Iran are the problem, not the solution. They want the U.S. humiliated and driven out of the Middle East. Syria’s bloody hands are all over the assassination last week of a leading Christian Lebanese political figure. Iran’s President Ahmadinejad said again this week that the United States, United Kingdom, and Israel will collapse soon. Both Iran and Syria are training the jihadists that kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

Also worrisome are the leaks out of the ISG saying that a Palestinian state must be created for there to be peace in the Middle East. So, let’s see if I have this correct: Sunni and Shiite extremists are killing each other, Iran is building a nuclear bomb, Syria is trying to turn Lebanon into a “puppet state,” the U.S. is fighting with one hand tied behind its back in Iraq, and the solution is “make Israel smaller.”

New U.S. Coin Marginalizes "In God We Trust"

Pushing Faith To The Fringe

The U.S. Mint is set to introduce a new dollar coin next year. But this time the national motto, “In God We Trust,” and “E Pluribus Unum” will not appear on either face, but will instead be printed on the thin edge of the coin.

Whether or not the mint meant it, the symbolism can’t be missed: Once again, government is pushing God and common bonds to the fringes, while most Americans would prefer that faith and patriotism be a central part of our lives. I predict the coin will flop.

2. PRAYER FOR THE SAFETY OF PRESIDENT BUSH

(Source for this article: Intercessors for America)

a. THREE MOTORCYCLES IN BUSH MOTORCADE CRASH IN HONOLULU
HONOLULU - Three Honolulu police motorcycles in President George W. Bush's motorcade were involved in an accident on Tuesday morning at Hickam Air Force Base. A 30-year-old officer's condition has worsened. He was last reported in critical condition. He underwent surgery for internal bleeding. "The roadway that they were traveling on was not the typical asphalt that is out there on the public roadways," said Police Department Capt frank Fujii. The officers said they consider protecting the president among their highest and proudest duties.

b. PRESIDENT’S DAUGHTER ROBBED IN ARGENTINA
One of President Bush’s twin daughters’ purse and cell phone were taken while she was dining in a Buenos Aires restaurant. It was not clear from reports which daughter it was. A pair of thieves removed the purse from under a table while Secret Service agents stood guard at a distance.

c. WHITE HOUSE STAFFER ROBBED, BEATEN AT WAIKIKI NIGHTCLUB

HONOLULU, HI -- The acting director of the White House Travel Office, Greg Pitts, was robbed and beaten in Waikiki early on Tuesday morning outside a nightclub, according to Honolulu police. "He was knocked down, punched, kicked -- his wallet and id were stolen," Honolulu Police Department Capt. Frank Fujii said. Pitts' passport and international phone were also taken. Pitts accompanied President George W. Bush on a brief visit to Hawaii. The stop came after an eight-day trip to Asia. Paramedics treated Pitts and took him to Queen's Medical Center. He did not return with the president to Washington.

PRAY FOR THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF:

PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH
FIRST LADY LAURA BUSH
THEIR DAUGHTERS, JENNA AND BARBARA
THE WHITE HOUSE STAFF
CABINET MEMBERS AND THE MEN AND WOMEN IN HIS ADMINISTRATION
THOSE WHO ARE CHARGED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT THEM (SECRET SERVICE, U.S. MILITARY)
• Ask the Lord to thwart any attempt to assassinate or injure the President and his family. Declare that any and all curses against the office of President of the United States have been nullified and removed. • "Plead my cause, O LORD, with those who strive with me; Fight against those who fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help. Also draw out the spear, And stop those who pursue me." (Psalm 35:1-3)

3. HUNDREDS OF IRAQI CITIZENS MURDERED IN TERRORIST RAMPAGE

a. Iraq: Over 230 murdered in terror attack on Thursday The carnage over a 24-hour period amounted to one of the worst spasms of violence since the Americans toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003. The Iraqi government maintained a tight curfew across the capital today, apparently fearful that events could spiral into full-scale civil war. Hundreds of mourners poured into the streets of Sadr City to join processions of minibuses and sedans carrying wooden coffins.

b. Record Iraqi deaths in October
More Iraqi civilians were killed in October than in any other month since the American invasion in 2003, a rise that underscored the growing cost of Iraq’s deepening sectarian war. According to the report, 3,709 Iraqis were killed in October, up slightly from the previous high in July, and an increase of about 11 percent from the number in September. (NYT)

• Intercede for the exposure and thwarting of any planned terrorist attacks, both in the U.S. and abroad. Pray for the apprehension and arrest of terrorist organizers, and the breakup of "sleeper cells" and networks. Intercede for President George Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of Defense Bob Gates, UN Ambassador John Bolton, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Peter Pace and all involved in U.S. foreign policy. Pray that they receive wisdom, especially regarding Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, North Korea and Sudan.

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. . . He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him." (Daniel 2:20-22) (Source: IFA)

4. IRAQI LEADERS APPEAL FOR UNITY, PEACE

Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish leaders called on Sunday for an end to Iraq's sectarian conflict and vowed to track down those responsible for the war's deadliest attack. But as they spoke on national television in an effort to keep Iraq from sliding into an all-out civil war, fierce fighting between Iraqi security forces and Sunni-Arab insurgents raged for a second day in Baqouba, the capital of Diyala province north of Baghdad. On Saturday, officials including Defense Minister Abdul-Qader al-Obaidi and Gen. George Casey, Iraq's top U.S. commander in Iraq, met and decided to fire Diyala's police commander, saying he was unable to stop infiltration of the force by Sunni insurgents, two Iraqi officials said on condition of anonymity.

After holding another meeting of Iraq's Political Council for National Security in Baghdad on Sunday to discuss Iraq's crisis, Shiite Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki, Sunni Parliament speaker Mahmoud al- Mashhadani and Kurdish President Jalal Talabani made a joint statement on state-run TV. "We promise the great martyrs that we will chase the killers and criminals, the terrorists, Saddamists and Takfiri [Sunni extremists] for viciously trying to divide you," they said, referring to the 215 people who died when Sunni insurgents attacked Sadr City, the capital's main Shiite district, on Thursday. Al-Maliki also urged his national unity government of Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds to end their public disputes and curb the sectarian violence sweeping through cities such as Baqouba. "The crisis is political, and it is the politicians who must try to prevent more violence and bloodletting. The terrorist acts are a reflection of the lack of political accord," al-Maliki said. (AP)

• In addition to praying for the American authorities, listed above, lift up all Iraqi authorities, too, as they grapple with the rising tide of violence in their own nation. • "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)
• The only true path to peace is the knowledge of Jesus Christ ("Isa" in Arabic) in our hearts -- the Prince of Peace. Intercede for the safety of those who are in Iraq now, sharing the Gospel in this war-torn nation. May God grant each one numerous opportunities to share the Good News with those who surely need His Hope, His Comfort, and His Peace now. • "“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound . . ." (Isaiah 61:1)

5. REPORT: IRAQ INSURGENCY HAS FUNDS TO SUSTAIN ITSELF

The insurgency in Iraq is now self-sustaining financially, raising tens of millions of dollars a year from oil smuggling, kidnapping, counterfeiting, connivance by corrupt Islamic charities and other crimes that the Iraqi government and its American patrons have been largely unable to prevent, a classified United States government report has concluded. The report, obtained by The New York Times, estimates that groups responsible for many insurgent and terrorist attacks are raising $70 million to $200 million a year from illegal activities. It says $25 million to $100 million of that comes from oil smuggling and other criminal activity involving the state-owned oil industry, aided by “corrupt and complicit” Iraqi officials. As much as $36 million a year comes from ransoms paid for hundreds of kidnap victims, the report says. It estimates that unnamed foreign governments — previously identified by American officials as including France and Italy — paid $30 million in ransom last year.

A copy of the seven-page report was made available to The Times by American officials who said the findings could improve understanding of the challenges the United States faces in Iraq. The report offers little hope that much can be done to choke off soon insurgent revenues. It acknowledges how little the American authorities in Iraq know about crucial aspects of insurgent operations andpaints an almost despairing picture of the Iraqi government’s ability, or willingness, to take steps to cut off the insurgency’s financing. “If accurate,” the report says, its estimates indicate that these “sources of terrorist and insurgent finance within Iraq — independent of foreign sources — are currently sufficient to sustain the groups’ existence and operation.” To this, it adds what may be its most surprising conclusion: “In fact, if recent revenue and expense estimates are correct, terrorist and insurgent groups in Iraq may have surplus funds with which to support other terrorist organizations outside of Iraq.” (NYT)

• Our Lord God, ruler of the universe, can cut off funds that supply the terrorists with weapons and personnel. Ask the Lord to reveal exact details about these avenues that the terrorists are using to fund their activities in Iraq and around the world, including the USA. Goliah only thought that he was invincible; David trusted in the Lord, and so must we. • " ...that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give you into our hands." (I Samuel 17:47)

6. AHMADINEJAD: IRAN "READY TO HELP" U.S. WITH IRAQ TURMOIL

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday hewould help the United States calm Iraq if Washington changes what he described as its "bullying" policy toward Iran. But the Islamic Republic denied reports that it was trying to organize a summit bringing together Ahmadinejad and the leaders of Iraq and Syria. Reports of a meeting came as the Bush administration is under increased pressure at home to approach Iran and Syria for help in Iraq. Such a measure is believed to be one of the recommendations by a panel on Iraq led by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III.

"We are ready to help you," Ahmadinejad declared while addressing a group of members of the Basij paramilitary group, affiliated with the elite Revolutionary Guard. Julie Reside, a State Department spokesman, responded that Iran's offer was nothing new. "The Iranians have made comments similar to this in the past," she said. Mohammed Ali Hosseini, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, said a summit involving Iraq and Syria was never on Iran's agenda. However, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani was scheduled to visit Tehran on Saturday but had to postpone his trip until Baghdad's airport — closed in a security clampdown after the violence — reopens.

Iran's lack of transparency about its nuclear program and other issues has increased suspicions by the U.S. and several of its Western allies. (FOXNews.com)

• Ahmadinejad, if nothing else, displays an ironic sense of humor in chastising the USA for our "bullying" policies and then offering to help us with Iraq. If he has that much wisdom, then he should stop funding terrorists in Iraq and threatening Israel with annihilation. Pray that the US will not heed any counsel from this anti-Christ type of man and that his words are like vapors in the wind. Speak confusion into any plans that would involve the enemies of Israel and the USA. • "Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished." (Proverbs 16:5)

8. ISRAELI CEASEFIRE IN RETURN FOR PARTIAL ARAB TRUCE

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Saturday night agreed to withdraw all troops from the Gaza area and cease anti-terrorist actions in return for a halt to terrorist attacks from the region. However, at least one of the terrorist organizations denied a Hamas claim it agreed to the partial truce, which is to take effect at 6 a.m. Sunday (11 p.m. Saturday night EST). Prime Minister Olmert said Israel will abide by the truce so long as there are no violations by the PA.

Two days ago, the Israeli government rejected a proposal by terrorist organizations that they halt rocket fire, but not other terrorist attacks, in return for a total halt to counter-terrorist actions by Israel throughout Judea, Samaria and Gaza. The latest Palestinian Authority (PA) offer includes a ban on suicide bombings and other attacks but only from the Gaza area, and it does not mention the smuggling of arms and terrorists.

Israel's promise to stop retaliating against terrorists in the Gaza area also does not refer to similar activity in Judea and Samaria.

Israel wants to see quiet in the Gaza Strip, but terrorists two fired rockets at Israel after the agreement was announced. Between Friday and midnight Israeli time Saturday night, Arab terrorists had fired 12 rockets at the western Negev.

Terrorist leaders warned that if Israel did not follow suit, with a halt to all counter-terrorist actions, they would consider escalating attacks. Saturday night's cease fire agreement came hours after Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas leader based in Damascus, threatened a new and more violent Intifada if Israel does not give up in six months all parts of the country that were re-gained in the Six-Day War in 1967. He also made the remarks after meeting with Egyptian leaders concerning IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, whom terrorists kidnapped in June in a deadly strike on an IDF Gaza crossing position in Israel.

Neither Prime Minister Olmert nor Abbas referred to Shalit in their phone discussion Saturday, but Meshaal's visit to Cairo may be a sign that Hamas is prepared for serious discussions for releasing the soldier. The Hamas leader previously had cancelled at least two planned visits to Cairo, sending junior officials instead. (www.israelnationalnews.com)

• Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, where policies being made affect the whole nation of Israel. So much violence has occurred in Israel since Sharon forced Israelis out of Gaza, now a refuge and storage place for terrorism of all kinds. Ask the Lord to bring the young soldier Shalit home without further delay. Pray that Israel will put her trust in the Lord God of Israel and forget about men's counsel. • "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou wilt revive me; Thou shalt stretch forth Thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and Thy right hand shall save me." (Psalm 138:7)

9. RUSSIA SENDS DEFENSE SYSTEM TO IRAN

Russia has begun delivery of Tor-M1 air defense missile systems to Iran, a Defense Ministry official said Friday, confirming that Moscow would proceed with arms deals with Tehran in spite of Western criticism. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue, declined to specify when the deliveries had been made and how many systems had been delivered. Ministry officials have previously said Moscow would supply 29 of the sophisticated missile systems to Iran under a $700 million contract signed in December, according to Russian media reports.

The United States called on all countries last spring to stop all arms exports to Iran, as well as ending all nuclear cooperation with it to put pressure on Tehran to halt uranium enrichment activities. Israel, too, has severely criticized arms deals with Iran. Tehran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but the United States and its allies suspect Iran is trying to develop weapons.

The UN Security Council, where Russia is a veto- wielding permanent member, is currently stalemated on the severity of sanctions on Iran for defying its demand to cease uranium enrichment. The Tor-M1 deal, involving conventional weapons, does not violate any international agreements.

Russian officials say that the missiles are purely defensive weapons with a limited range. According to the Interfax news agency, the Tor-M1 system can identify up to 48 targets and fire at two targets simultaneously at a height of up to 6,000 meters (20,000 feet). Russian media have reported previously that Moscow had conducted talks on selling even more powerful long-range S-300 air defense missiles, but Russian officials have denied that. (AP)

• What a friend we have in Jesus but certainly not in Russia! Please pray for wisdom for Russia and other countries who are more interested in money from arms sales than in safety for the nations. Continue to pray for protection for Israel, for these missiles can easily reach Israel. Ask the Lord to reveal where these missiles are being delivered and where stored and what strategies can be executed to render them disfunctional. • "Riches profit not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death." (Proverbs 11:4)

11. MEMBERS OF A "LOST TRIBE OF ISRAEL" RETURN TO ZION

TEL AVIV – About 50 Jews from a group of thousands in India that believes it is one of the 10 "lost tribes" of Israel landed here today, (Wednesday) fulfilling for many a life-long dream of returning to what they consider their homeland. "I truly believe this is a miracle of immense historical and even biblical significance," Michael Freund, chairman of Shavei Israel, the organization leading the charge for the return of the tribe. "Just as the prophets foretold so long ago, the lost tribes of Israel are being brought back from the exile," Freund said.

For a decade, Freund's group has been working to facilitate the immigration to Israel of the Bnei Menashe, about 7,000 Indian citizens who believe they are the descendants of Manasseh, one of biblical patriarch Joseph's two sons, and a grandson of Jacob. The tribe lives in the two Indian states of Mizoram and Manipur, to which they claim to have been exiled from Israel more than 2,700 years ago by the Assyrian empire. The group, which has preserved ancient Jewish customs and rituals, has been trying the past 50 years to return to Israel. Over the last decade, Freund's Shavei Israel, working with other organizations, brought about 800 Bnei Menashe members to the Jewish state. Many settled in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. (WorldNetDaily, 11/22/06)

• Praise God for this great breakthrough for the Bnei Menashe. Praise God for the persistent work of Michael Freund and others who have worked tirelessly to see this wonderful day. • “Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.” (Psalm 14:7)

Special Report:: LEBANESE LEADER ASSASSINATED

Pierre Gemayel was a Maronite Christian and son of former Lebanese President Amin Gemayel.

Like his father and late uncle, Gemayel was an opponent of the influence in Lebanon of Syria

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanese Christian cabinet minister Pierre Gemayel, an outspoken critic of Syria, was assassinated near Beirut on Tuesday, security sources said. Gunmen opened fire as his convoy drove through the Christian Sin el-Fil neighbourhood, they said. Gemayel, who was in his 30s, was rushed to hospital where he later died of his wounds. The murder of the 34-year-old minister is certain to increase political tensions in Lebanon, where the Syrian / Iranian backed militant Shia Hezbollah party is leading a drive to overturn the Western-backed Government.

Gemayel, a member of the Christian Phalange Party and industry minister, was the son of former President Amin Gemayel. His uncle Bashir Gemayel was killed in September 1982 after he was elected as president. Pierre, like his father and late uncle, was an opponent of the influence in Lebanon of Syria, who many Lebanese blame for the February 2005 assassination of former prime minister Hariri. (Reuters, 11/21/06)

President Bush Denounces Assassination Of Lebanese Leader

"Today's assassination of Lebanese Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel shows yet again the viciousness of those who are trying to destabilize that country. The United States remains fully committed to supporting Lebanon's independence and democracy in the face of attempts by Syria, Iran, and their allies within Lebanon to foment instability and violence. We also demand that Syria treat Lebanon as a genuinely sovereign neighbor, establishing full diplomatic relations with Lebanon, and delineating its border with that country, including, in particular, in the Shab'a Farms area, through a bilateral agreement." (Excerpt; White House Press Release)

Thousands Turn Out for Gemayel's Funeral

With an anti-Syria fury that recalled the aftermath of the assassination of former prime minister Rafik Hariri, hundreds of thousands of Lebanese poured into Beirut on Thursday for the funeral of the government minister slain Tuesday, Pierre Gemayel. Demonstrators shouted for the resignation of Lebanese President Emile Lahoud, who is allied with Syria. They cursed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and spat on pictures of Gen. Michel Aoun, a Christian who aligned his party with Hezbollah. (NYT)

PRAYER REQUEST FROM INTERCESSORS FOR ISRAEL

With the assassination of Gemayel this past week, Lebanon stands at the edge of a precipice. This could be a major breakthrough for that nation to be set free from their Syrian-Iranian-Hizbullah overlords.

• Lord, use this terrible event to expose the real enemies of Lebanon.

• Wake up the real believers in that nation to know how to pray and what to do.

• Protect Israel's northern border from any Hizbullah attacks which could take the pressure off the assassination and put the eyes of the world on Israel - again.

• Have mercy on this nation and save multitudes.

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

NETANYAHU -- IT'S 1938 AND IRAN IS GERMANY

Los Angeles - Drawing a direct analogy between Iran and Nazi Germany, Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu asserted Monday [November 13] that the Iranian nuclear program posed a threat not only to Israel, but to the entire Western world. There was “still time,” however, to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, he said. “It’s 1938 and Iran is Germany. And Iran is racing to arm itself with atomic bombs,” Netanyahu told delegates to the annual United Jewish Communities General Assembly [GA], repeating the line several times, like a chorus, during his address. “Believe him and stop him,” the opposition leader said of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. “This is what we must do. Everything else pales before this.” While the Iranian president “denies the Holocaust,” Netanyahu said, “he is preparing another Holocaust for the Jewish state.”

Speaking on Army Radio on Tuesday, Netanyahu hinted that Israel possesses the military capabilities necessary for curbing by itself the Iranian nuclear threat, declining to specify what these entail. “I don’t want to analyze the capability required to eliminate [the Iranian] threat, but this capability exists,” when told by host Razi Barkai that Israel lacks the ability to eliminate Tehran’s nuclear program by military means. “This capability is eroded over time, and if we wait years then obviously this capability would not exist anymore. . . but right now I disagree with the claim that nothing can be done against Iran,” he added. When asked if Bush could afford embarking on another “military adventure” after Iraq, Netanyahu said acting on the Iranian nuclear program would not be adventurous but necessary.“ Israel would certainly be the first stop on Iran’s tour of destruction, but at the planned production rate of 25 nuclear bombs a year...[the arsenal] will be directed against ‘the big Satan,’ the U.S., and the ‘moderate Satan,’ Europe,” Netanyahu said. “Iran is developing ballistic missiles that would reach America, and now they prepare missiles with an adequate range to cover the whole of Europe,” he added.

Criticizing the international community in his GA speech for not acting more forcefully in trying to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power, he said, “No one cared then, and no one seems to care now,” again drawing on the Nazi parallel. Netanyahu warned that Tehran’s nuclear and missile program “goes way beyond the destruction of Israel. It is directed to achieve worldwide range. It’s a global program in the service of a mad ideology.” Large sections of the international community, he said, also misunderstood the nature of radical Islam and its role in the Middle East conflict. “What happens in Iran affects what happens in the Israeli– Palestinian conflict, not the other way round,” he said. Netanyahu said he believed that Iran could still be stopped from acquiring nuclear weapons. “There is still time. All ways must be considered. We can’t let this thing happen,” he said, but did not outline specific measures he thought should be taken.

Referring to Israel’s preemptive strike in the 1967 war, he did say that stopping Iran required “preemptive leadership. Preemption requires will and vision. No one will defend the Jews if the Jews don’t defend themselves,” he said to loud applause. “Iran’s nuclear ambitions have to be stopped.”

(By Peter Hirschberg, Haaretz, November 14, 2006) [Reported by: Bridges for Peace]

• The seriousness of the threats against Israel is increasingly grave, but God reigns supreme over Israel, indeed, over all the nations. Declare His greatness!

“All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They surrounded me like bees; they were quenched like a fire of thorns; for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the LORD helped me.” (Psalm 118:10–13)

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us. . . . " ( Ps. 90: 16-17)

2. Bush Warns N. Korea: Don't Spread Nukes - AP

President Bush on Thursday warned North Korea against transferring nuclear weapons or material to other countries, saying such an act would be considered a "grave threat" to the United States.

• Continue to pray for wisdom and knowledge as President Bush seeks and gives counsel on North Korea's nuclear weapons. • "A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety." (Prov. 24:5-6) "And He shall be the stability of your times, A wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; The fear of the Lord is his treasure." (Isaiah 33:6)

3. Russia, U.S. Disagree on Iran Sanctions - Fox News

After three weeks of talks, the United States and key European countries remain locked in fundamental disagreement with Russia about the scope of U.N. sanctions that Iran should face for refusing to rein in its nuclear program.

"Through Thee we will push back our adversaries; Through Thy name we trample down those who rise up against us." (Psalm 44:5)

4. Iran, Syria Seek Interoperability - MENL

Iran and Syria have launched an effort to ensure military interoperability. Western intelligence sources said the effort was meant to ensure that the two militaries could coordinate attacks, share information and launch joint ground and missile operations. They said the effort began in 2005 and was formalized in a defense cooperation accord signed last November.

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." (Prov. 16:9)

5. Iran declaring 'economic warfare' - World Net Daily

Iran may have signed a virtual "death warrant" by openly declaring a governmental decision to move away from the dollar in the country's foreign- exchange transactions, says WND columnist Jerome Corsi.

"My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, and my yield than choicest silver." (Proverbs 8:19)

6. South Africa's Parliament Approves Gay Marriages - All Headline News

The Parliament of South Africa has consented to new legislation recognizing same-sex marriages. This comes as a first for a continent with the widely held belief that homosexuality is taboo.

"And the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and form the wrath of the Lamb." (Revelation 6: 15-16)
