"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." (2 Peter 3:18)

PUBLISHING NOTICE:

Congress will go into recess next week for the Memorial Day holiday. Accordingly, we will not publish the next edition of "On Capitol Hill This Week" on Monday.

The Daily Brief will return on Tuesday, following our regular schedule. Thank you . . . and MAY GOD BLESS THE MEMORIES OF THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY, LONG AND WELL. AMEN.

The Daily Brief

1. New, Giant Sea Oil Plume Seen in Gulf - ABC News

Marine scientists have discovered a massive new plume of what they believe to be oil deep beneath the Gulf of Mexico, stretching 22 miles (35 kilometers) from the leaking wellhead northeast toward Mobile Bay, Alabama.

- Lord, You surround the land and the waters with Your mighty Hand and You direct the paths of man, if only they would look to You for Your plan. Within the depths of the seas corruption will spill out but you can change this course and direct a new path. A plumb line is being drawn but which side will man take. Lord that they choose You and then oh how we will see Your mighty Hand.

- "Nevertheless, the time will come when I will heal Jerusalem's damage and give her prosperity and peace. I will restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel and rebuild their cities. I will cleanse away their sins against me, and I will forgive all their sins of rebellion." (Jer. 33: 6 - 8)

2. US economy weaker than estimated in first quarter - AFP

The fragile US recovery from recession was weaker than estimated in the first quarter, official data showed, suggesting tougher challenges from the European debt crisis.

- Father God, thank You for showing us that prayer is the only channel of wisdom, so we turn to You for help in this time. Thank You for the principles of stewardship that You have taught us so clearly in Your Word and help us to find the grace to be obedient to You in all matters related to financial dealings. As we learn to trust in You, we thank You that You will prove Yourself faithful as our Jehovah Jireh, our provider. You, Lord, are our true "recovery." Amen.

- "Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked; but the righteous will live by their faith." (Hab. 3:4)

3. Time will tell on BP's 'top kill' plan for capping oil leak - USA Today

A desperate attempt to plug the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill with millions of gallons of mud is going according to plan, although energy officials say they won't know for at least a day whether the maneuver is working.

- Lord, we pray not only for the answers to fix this problem but also for people to turn to You in this crisis. May each one bend the knee in repentance, seeking answers from the only Power greater than Himself -- Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Lord. Amen.

- "Send your healing power, may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus." (Acts. 4:30)

4. House approves repeal of gay ban in military - AP

The House on Thursday delivered a victory to Obama and gay rights groups by approving a proposal to repeal the law that allows gays to serve in the military only if they don't disclose their sexual orientation.

- Father, forgive us, we have turned again from Your precious covenant and we do seek You with a travailing heart. Oh Lord, only You can remove the scales and our hardness of heart. Only what they need can come from You; we know this because You delivered us from darkness. . . Lord we come to You with heavy hearts seeking your face and crying out ABBA. Make us an instrument of your peace inside so that we may truly stand with You and do Your will in these dark times. Amen.

- "The smoke of the incense mixed with the prayers of the saints, ascended up to God from the altar where the angel had poured them out. Then the angel filled the incense burner with the fire from the altar and threw it down upon the earth; and the thunder crashed, lightning flashed and there was a terrible earthquake." (Rev. 8: 4,5)

5. Amendment would let military chaplains pray as they wish - Washington Post

U.S, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization bill that would allow all U.S. military chaplains, "if called upon to lead a prayer outside of a religious service, would be free to close that prayer according to the dictates of the chaplain's conscience."

- Pray that this bill be according to His purpose and plan, and we thank Him for Rep. Bachmann opening a door to prayer for our military. Ask the Lord for a swift passage of this bill in both the House and the Senate.

- "Keep on asking and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened." ( Matt. 7:7)

6. UN experts say NKorea is exporting nuke technology - AP

North Korea is exporting nuclear and ballistic missile technology and using multiple intermediaries, shell companies and overseas criminal networks to circumvent U.N. sanctions, U.N. experts said in a report obtained by The Associated Press.

- Lord as we know You have always brought to light darkness; rebellion resists but can only run so long before it must stop. Pray all the issues be exposed so that weapons will not be hidden and that innocent blood will not be shed.

- "Humiliate and disgrace those trying to kill me; turn them back to confusion, Blow them away like chaff in the wind-- a wind sent by the angel of the Lord." (Ps. 35: 4,5)

7. Earthquake rocks South Pacific region - BBC

An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 has struck off the nation of Vanuatu in the South Pacific.

- Lord as we see these are times for us to reach to you, we pray that if they do not know you they come to know you and if they do they draw even closer. We pray no lives will be lost but only lives saved unto you Lord Jesus.

- "Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me." (John 14:1)

5. Report: Syria arming Hezbollah from secret bases - Ynet News

The chances that Israel may send a "calibrated signal" to Hezbollah and Syria by launching a precise airstrike against a weapons convoy are increasing, the British Times reported on Friday, following reports of Israeli plans to bomb a Syrian arms convey as it crossed the border into Lebanon. The Israeli strike was reportedly called off at the last minute.

Revivalution--The Plan

We must connect our Biblical walk with our earthly walk to be true disciples of Christ and to make disciples of others. In the past 20 years, there has been one movement after another--everything from name it claim it to personal prophecy to discipleship to the emergent church to errant teachings of social justice and liberation theology--whatever new wind of doctrine that tickles peoples' ears and makes them think they are doing something cutting edge and unique. But the scripture is very clear in Ephesians 4:14, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive."

The scripture tells us not to remove the landmark which "they of old time have set in thine inheritance." Proverbs 22:28 says, "Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set." This word "ancient" can be interpreted as "eternal." The Ancient of Days is God eternal and we are not to remove Him. In Jeremiah 6:16 the Lord says,"Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the ancient paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." But we as a nation are as the last sentence in this verse, "But they said We will not walk therein." The ancient way herein is the way of the Lord as He sets forth in His word. In Solomon's wisdom, we find that "there is no new thing under the sun."

Indeed, there are no doctrines apart from Scripture. It is the inerrant and infallible Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." As American Christians of this generation, many of us are products of the public school system or of private schools taught by those who were products of secular educational systems. Critical thinking and ideological subversion has caused us to examine the truth and arrive at our own conclusion. This causes self indulgence, confusion, wrong mindedness, and spiritual paralysis. This has resulted in moral decline, tolerance for evil, and civic irresponsibility.

Thus, Revivalution--a spiritual revival that foments civic revolution--is necessary. The first step is for us to "get our minds right." That is understanding who God is, what He requires of us, and our proper response to sin, justice, and righteousness. At least once a week there will be a specially designated Jot to study and discern a Biblical precept. When we understand these precepts and how they relate to us today, we gather a meeting of our family once a week to teach them and confirm them among our family. Once our family is solid, we extend the weekly gathering to our friends and neighbors. Eventually, they too, will repeat the pattern. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we soon will have Revivalution.

"Don't Ask Don't Tell" Repeal Passes Congress

Senate Action on this Policy to Take Place Later this Summer

Four days before Memorial Day and after ignoring requests from the top military brass and a host of veteran groups, Sixteen U.S. Senators on the Senate Armed Service Committee and 234 Members of the House of Representatives decided furthering a radical political agenda was more important than honoring the wishes and sacrifices of our troops.

Too add insult to injury the Senate Committee also added a provision that would allow for taxpayer funding of abortions on military bases. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said of the vote, "Passing this amendment . . . respects the timeline of the Defense Department study."

Nothing could be further from the truth. Their actions take a piece of legislation that is supposed to ensure our nation's fighting men and women are well prepared and equipped and turns it into an anti-military vehicle for dangerous political correctness. The two chambers of Congress last night set into motion a process that will repeal the "Don't ask Don't tell" policy with no regard for how this will affect military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline. This decision to use the military to advance this Administration's radical social agenda will demoralize an already stressed military.

Congress also ignored the possible impact on recruiting. This week at an FRC news conference, Lt. Gen. Jan Huly (USMC-Ret) pointed out that our military is not an all volunteer force, it is an all recruited force. The difference between the two is significant. There are reasons that young men and women are attracted to the military and it is unlikely that advancing political correctness is among them. If recruitment suffers, look for Congress to find another solution--like the draft. The bottom line is that Americans should be outraged over the actions of this Congress. Our armed forces are respected and honored for laying down their lives for God and Country, last night 250 Members of Congress disrespected all three. (Family Research Council)

From Fox News:

"The Senate is expected to take up the defense bill this summer, and its enactment is no sure thing."

PRAYER:

Pray that the "no sure thing" on passage of this bill, stated by Fox News, becomes NO THING in the end. The war to secure our military against the encroachment of the gay agenda is not over, by any means . . we have only just begun. PRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

Netanyahu to Visit White House on Tuesday

Netanyahu Invited to White House Next Tuesday (June 1) for Talks

Abbas also invited to White House for separate talks

One day after White House Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel handed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an invitation to Washington for talks with Obama next week, a similar invitation was extended on Thursday to Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas for a meeting in the Oval Office on June 9.

The meeting is being scheduled to discuss the obstacles to peace with Israel, the White House announced yesterday. "They will also discuss our continuing effort to work cooperatively to develop the institutions that can advance the aspirations of the Palestinian people, and support the establishment of a Palestinian state," said the statement.

Abbas' visit will come on the heels of Netanyahu's scheduled meeting with Obama on June 1, which will focus on the US-sponsored "proximity talks" as well as Iran's renegade nuclear program.

- Pray in the Spirit over this meeting next Tuesday. The last time that Mr. Netanyahu visited the White House, the reception he was given was deplorable, to say the least. Pray that, this time, Obama will do an "about-face" and honor P.M. Netanyahu as the head of state that he is -- perhaps the most important sovereign state on earth. Amen.

- "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." (I Tim. 2:1-2)

IDF Foils Gaza Terror Infiltration Attempt

Israel Air Force helicopter gunships and IDF artillery stymied an attempt by Gaza-based terrorists to infiltrate into Israel on Thursday under cover of the heavy haze conditions. A military source said that three terrorists tried to enter Israel through the security fence but were identified by IDF spotters.

IDF radio reported that an explosion was heard that alerted the soldiers to an infiltration attempt. They said that a serious terror attack had been planned and thwarted, and the army expects more attempts at terror as the approaching flotilla of ships gives terrorists a feeling of encouragement and support .

The incident occurred near Kibbutz Nahal Oz. The IDF source did not say whether the terrorists were hurt - possibly because the IDF was not sure if they had indeed been hit or just forced to turn back.

Arab sources quoted in Arab news media, however, said that that six people were hurt by IAF helicopter fire near the security fence at Nahal Oz. Terrorists fired a mortar shell Thursday evening that exploded in an open space within the Shaar HaNegev local authority's area of jurisdiction. No one was reported hurt and no damage was caused. Four rockets were fired at communities in southern Israel Wednesday. They all fell in uninhabited area. (Arutz7 news)

"Never Forget"

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:

This weekend marks Memorial Day, a national observance first known as Decoration Day. It was meant to be a time to remember and honor our Civil War dead simply by decorating their graves. Over time, the holiday's significance was extended to honor all those who paid the ultimate price for our nation. Now, as America is at war, Memorial Day also provides an opportunity for us to reflect on, and give thanks for, the sacrifices of our soldiers still in harm's way.

We face many dangers today - jihadist attacks, a nuclear Iran, out-of-control deficits. But the greatest danger of all is one that doesn't make many headlines - our collective national amnesia. Our history textbooks are sanitized to be politically correct and give our children virtually no sense of the greatness of the nation they live in.

In my talks at hundreds of high schools during the 2000 campaign, I was struck by how often decent American kids had nothing good to say about their country. Most had virtually no knowledge of the sacrifices made to establish and preserve their liberty. They are the recipients of the greatest freedom and opportunity that any society has ever produced; yet they are unaware of the price in flesh and blood that was paid for it.

In America today, Memorial Day weekend has become more of an occasion for rest and relaxation than for reflection about our heroes and the values they died to preserve. This weekend, I hope and pray that we can learn to do both - relax and remember. Let's go the ballgame, have that picnic, hug our kids and have some fun at the beach.

But let's also remind ourselves, and our children, about what happened at Concord Bridge, the fields of Antietam and the beaches of Normandy. Let's explain to them why there was a Berlin Wall, what happened at Okinawa and the price that was paid to stop fascism and Soviet communism. The same resolve that allowed us to persevere in those conflicts will be necessary if we are to overcome our current challenges.

In short, with America facing so many dangers internally and externally, let's take a moment this weekend to teach our children and grandchildren to love the things we love, and honor the things we honor. Finally, let's remind ourselves as well as our children that all liberty is a gift from God and that each generation has paid in flesh and blood to preserve it.

For those of you who want a place to start, try reading to your kids and grandkids these words from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address:

"We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here." (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; May 28,2010)

The Daily Brief - Thursday, May 27, 2010

"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." (2 Peter 3:18)

The Daily Brief

1. Feds Issue Terror Watch for the Texas/Mexico Border - Fox News

The Department of Homeland Security is alerting Texas authorities to be on the lookout for a suspected member of the Somalia-based Al Shabaab terrorist group who might be attempting to travel to the U.S. through Mexico, a security expert who has seen the memo tells FOXNews.com.

The warning follows an indictment unsealed this month in Texas federal court that accuses a Somali man in Texas of running a "large-scale smuggling enterprise" responsible for bringing hundreds of Somalis from Brazil through South America and eventually across the Mexican border. Many of the illegal immigrants, who court records say were given fake IDs, are alleged to have ties to other now-defunct Somalian terror organizations that have merged with active organizations like Al Shabaab, al-Barakat and Al-Ittihad Al-Islami.

- Lord, if ever there was an incident that shows why we need our borders secured, this is it. We pray you will cause our leadership to stop using this as a reactionary argument because of media coverage, and begin to truly care about the safety and protection of American citizens.

- "Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered." (Proverbs 11:21)

2. Counterterror Adviser Defends Jihad as 'Legitimate Tenet of Islam' - Fox News

The president's top counterterrorism adviser on Wednesday called jihad a "legitimate tenet of Islam," arguing that the term "jihadists" should not be used to describe America's enemies.

During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, John Brennan described violent extremists as victims of "political, economic and social forces," but said that those plotting attacks on the United States should not be described in "religious terms."

- Father, we are continually appalled at the efforts by this administration to cover up the truth of the religious nature of the war we are fighting. We ask Lord, that You begin to stop the mouths of these people who deceive and twist the truth, attempting to make the aggressive Islamic extremists look innocent.

- "Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!" (Psalm 43:1)

3. Military tensions spike as South Korea holds anti-submarine drills, North scraps sea accords - AP

South Korean warships fired guns and dropped anti-submarine bombs in a large-scale military exercise Thursday, a week after Seoul accused North Korea of shooting a torpedo that sank a navy frigate in March.

The military pushed ahead with the show of force despite warnings from the North that the exercise would bring the peninsula to the brink of war.

North Korea's reaction was swift. Its military declared in a statement carried by the state news agency that it would scrap accords with the South designed to prevent armed clashes at their maritime border, including the cutting of a military hot line, and warned of "prompt physical strikes" if any South Korean ships enter what it says are its waters in a disputed area off the west coast of the peninsula.

- Father, as the world's attention is split between economic collapse and ecological disaster, we pray that You will rise up and protect Asia from this growing threat of nuclear conflict. We pray that You will cut off the arm of the wicked rulers of North Korea, and unravel their entire regime, setting their people free!

- "The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; but God will rebuke them and they will flee far away, and be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind." (Isaiah 17: 13)

4. Congress Set for Landmark Vote on Lifting Military Gay Ban - AP

Congress is headed toward landmark votes on whether to allow gays to serve openly in the military.

The House of Representatives was expected to vote as early as Thursday on a proposal by Rep. Patrick Murphy, a Democrat who served in the Iraq war, that would repeal the 1993 law known as "don't ask, don't tell."

The legislation -- a compromise struck with the White House and agreed to by the Defense Department -- would give the military as much time as it wants before lifting the ban.Under the bill, the president, defense secretary and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff must first certify that the new policy won't hurt the military's ability to fight.

- Father, we are grieved by the current leadership of America, who continually set themselves against Your Word. We ask that the true ramifications of this action be revealed: housing issues, morale issues, as well as spiritual ones, so that our troops can do their jobs without extraneous concerns.

- "For the terrible one is brought to nothing, the scornful one is consumed, and all who watch for iniquity are cut off - who make a man an offender by a word, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of naught." (Isaiah 29:20-21)

5. Deadline for jobless benefits nears as Dems struggle for votes on tax and spending package - AP

Democrats are struggling to extend unemployment benefits before they go on vacation next week as they work to ease concerns among jittery lawmakers being hammered over deficit spending.

House leaders hope to vote Thursday on a bill that would extend the benefits through November, but they are running into opposition from Republicans and some Democrats concerned about the cost of the overall bill.

Democratic members of the conservative Blue Dog coalition are unhappy the bill would add $84 billion to the federal budget deficit. Several Blue Dogs were still noncommittal after meeting with House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer Thursday morning.

- Father, we pray for Your help concerning our citizens who are in need of jobs, not just unemployment money. We ask, Lord, for solutions for jobs that removes people from the jobless rolls.

- "Man goes out to his work, and to his labor in the evening, these all wait for You that You may give them their food in due season" (Psalm 104:23,27)

6. A) BP's 'Top Kill' Effort Slowing Oil, But Leak Not Fixed Yet - AP

The Coast Guard says BP is having some success slowing the Gulf of Mexico oil leak by injecting mud but the fix isn't done yet.

Coast Guard Lt. Commander Tony Russell said Thursday reports that Admiral Thad Allen, who is overseeing the operation, had called the procedure a success were incorrect. He said Allen said that the flow of mud was stopping some of the oil and gas but had a ways to go before it proved successful.

B) Obama to Extend Ban on New Offshore Oil Drilling - AP

Obama plans to announce Thursday that he is extending a moratorium on new deepwater oil drilling permits as he reins in offshore drilling plans from shore to shore amid criticism that the administration is not doing enough to tackle the spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

- Lord, America is totally at the mercy of foreign oil interests. As Obama signed the limited lifting of the moratorium on drilling last year, now we are in the midst of an oil disaster that stopped the drilling. Is this a coincidence? Father we are broken that BP would be so careless as to allow this tragic oil spill. We pray that not only would You be merciful to the Gulf Coast- to its land, its creatures, and its people, but that You would reveal hidden actions or ulterior motives in this disaster.

- "For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun." (2 Samuel 12:12)

7. Santorum: Special Prosecutor Should Investigate Sestak Bribery Allegation

In an exclusive Newsmax interview, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum says a special prosecutor should investigate whether the Obama administration bribed Rep. Joe Sestak with a job offer if he dropped out of the race he won against Sen. Arlen Specter. If true, Santorum said, the allegation amounts to a possibly impeachable offense.

- Lord, continually since the administration came to office, we have heard of these "trades" of position for favors. We pray that You will stop the corruption, remove the wicked, and bring righteousness to our nation.

- "The Lord is known by the judgments He executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands." (Psalm 9:16)

8. Wisconsin Veteran Must Remove Flag After Memorial Day, Wife Says - Fox News

An Army veteran in Wisconsin will be allowed to display an American flag until Memorial Day, but the symbol honoring his service in Iraq and Kosovo must come down next Tuesday, his wife told FoxNews.com.

- Lord, even as Christianity continues to be harassed in a nation founded by You, so does the American Flag. We pray that You would return freedom and honor to America. We ask that you remove the politically correct, but morally bankrupt policies which are rampant across our nation.

- "The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; let them be caught in the plots which they have devised."

The IDF announced Wednesday evening that it was planning to stop the international convoy of nine ships currently on its way to Gaza carrying hundreds of activists and thousands of tons of supplies.

2. Abbas: Second intifada was one of our worst mistakes - Ha'aretz

"The second intifada was one of our worst mistakes," Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told an Egyptian television station on Wednesday. "[Late Palestinian leader Yasser] Arafat didn't want the intifada to erupt, but he couldn't stop it," he added.

The Great American Revival of the 21st Century

Americans need to understand something--that we are in a war for our very own survival. And that there are many fronts on this war. One front is Islamic aggression--either through terrorist acts, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or by colonization here stateside. Another front is from Mexico, where that nation is encouraging its people to come to America illegally and colonize it in order to repatriate formerly held Mexican territories. Still another front is the Marxist attempt to demoralize and destabilize our nation from within--it is an attack on the economy, the morals, the education, the religion and the freedoms held in the US Constitution.

It would seem that we as Americans have lost our bearing. Many have given in to the longstanding strategy of the leftists to embrace that America and who she is, what she is, is bad and has done more bad than good. Many have given in to the strategy of the leftists that homosexuality, which is nothing more than sexual perversion, is a protected class of people. Many have given in to the strategy of the leftists that Islam is a peaceful religion whose anger is only a result of being poor and misunderstood. Many have given in to the strategy of the leftists to teach "critical thinking" which in of itself programs its victims to become indecisive and without absolute truths.

President Ronald Reagan entered the White House at a similar time, although things have progressed exponentially worse since the 1980 election. But Reagan gave America hope, not a false hope of government bail outs, government ownership of healthcare, the financial industry, the insurance industry, the auto industry, but a hope based in the inalienable rights endowed by our Creator of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He did not believe that the government should be giving hard earned tax dollars away to buy votes. He believed in the enterprising and industrious rugged individualism that has characterized the greatness of America since its early settlers.

Borrowing from Jesus Christ, Reagan described his vision of America as that shining city on a hill. Indeed, Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." In 1630, John Winthrop told future Massachusetts colonists, "For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken . . . we shall be made a story and a by-word throughout the world." I believe we are still that light, that shining city even though we have dealt falsely with our God in this work. And we have lost our nation for a time. By turning back to God, we can revive our nation and heal our land.

Answered prayers for Kenya!

Kenya court rules Islamic courts are illegal

Kenya's Islamic courts are illegal and discriminatory, a panel of judges has ruled.

The three judges said the Islamic "Kadhi" courts favored Islam over other faiths, and that this was unconstitutional as Kenya was a secular country.

The issue of Islamic courts has been a contentious point in the country's new proposed constitution.

It is due to go to a referendum in August.

The Kadhi courts - set up under British colonial rule - mainly deal with matters of marriage and inheritance for Kenya's Muslim minority.

The Christian church in Kenya brought the case to court six years ago.

As part of a power-sharing deal to end deadly riots following elections in December 2007, it was agreed that a new constitution would be written. (BBC) Read more.

Prayer Request:

Since this news was released on Monday, the nation of Kenya has announced that it is going to appeal this ruling in a higher court. If this appeal wins, then Islamic law will be part of the Constitution in Kenya, after all. PRAY THAT THE ORIGINAL OPINION HOLDS.

"The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. 2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity." (Psalm 93:1,2)

President Obama has authorized the call-up of as many as 1,200 National Guard troops along the U.S. border with Mexico to assist with border protection and enforcement activities there, officials say.

- Father, we cry out to You in this battle and trust You will be entreated of us because we put our trust in You. Protect our troops that none fall. Send forth the heavenly host of angels to war against the evil hosts of darkness. Take over the command and bring to a halt the demonic activities along our border. In Jesus Name.

- "Unto You, O Lord, do we lift up our soul. O my God, we trust in You: let us not be ashamed, let not our enemies triumph over us." (Psalm 25:1-2)

2. Obama's Nominee to Run Medicare: 'The Decision is Not Whether or Not We Will Ration Care - CNS News

President Barack Obama's nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs Medicare, is a strong supporter of the government-run health care system in Britain, who said in a 2009 interview about Comparative Effectiveness Research: "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care--the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open."

- Lord, we ask that you instill the attitude of prevention in the minds of the people. Speak Your Word, O God, and block the implementation of this health care bill forever. This system reeks with death to the sick, the weak, the elderly. We break the forces of death and lack of care by the blood of Jesus. Set in place adequate health care and override this evil system with Your power. In Jesus Name.

- "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me: You shall stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand shall save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerns me." (Psalm 138:7-8)

3. Obama Call for 'International Order' Raises Questions About U.S. Sovereignty - Fox News

Obama is facing criticism for his declaration over the weekend that he would seek a new "international order," with some questioning how much U.S. sovereignty the administration is willing to cede in exchange for more global cooperation.

- Oh God, overthrow this international order by the blood of Jesus, according to Your will. Call forth holy angels of the Most High God to fight our battles and defeat America's enemies. Expose satanic representatives and bring them down that would sell out our country in the name of global cooperation. In the Name of Jesus.

- "Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that anti-Christ shall come, even now are there many anti-christs; whereby we know that it is the last time." ( I John 2:18)

4. Oil tax increase would help pay to clean up spills - AP

Responding to the massive BP oil spill, Congress is getting ready to quadruple -- to 32 cents a barrel -- a tax on oil used to help finance cleanups. The increase would raise nearly $11 billion over the next decade.

- God, occurrences that are happening in these end-times are getting further and further away from God, and more and more wickedness is coming over the world. BUT GOD. All things are in Your hands. You are the mighty God of the universe. Your wisdom totally exceeds the wisdom of men and we call forth Your holy wisdom to set in place what needs to be done regarding this issue. We trust You. We honor You. In Jesus Name.

- "God has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heaven by His understanding." (Jeremiah 51:15)

5. N. Korea leader to Army: Prepare for war - Jerusalem Post

Tensions on the Korean peninsula soared Tuesday as South Korea resumed propaganda broadcasts into North Korea in retaliation for the deadly sinking of a warship, while the North's leader reportedly has ordered troops ready for combat.

- Lord, we decree and declare a healing of these nations that they can move in one accord. Cast out the warring spirits that would keep these nations at war. By the blood of Jesus, we pull down strongholds that stir up hatred and vehement spirits. God, settle the storm by removing evil from the land. Revive the hearts to know the Lord. In Jesus Name.

"Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of trouble I will call upon the Lord: for You will answer me." (Psalm 86:6-7)

"Revivalution"

I was driving home from church on Sunday just praising the Lord and having some intimate time with Him. And I felt Him impress upon me that things are going to get very, very serious, more so than ever before in my lifetime. And that as a watchman, I am watching over many people who are very confused and confounded even though they have the truth within their hearts through the salvation of Christ. He impressed upon me that there needs to be a revival--a Romans 12:2 revival mixed in with John 8:32 and Matthew 10:16. This is difficult to explain, but I will do my best to simplify it. The only answer to the confusion in this world is the clarity of Christ and His testament as revealed in the entirety of God's Word.

Generations of Americans have been "programmed" by society and schools in critical thinking and the dialectic. This has caused even the elect to respond to worldly issues with their own brand or interpretation of reality. In other words, try as we might, we have difficulty with absolute truth. We can justify anything, believe anything, even twist scripture and law to defend our own conclusions. But this is in line with how we have been programmed/brainwashed to arrive at conclusions and justify our actions by bending God's words or whatever we believe to meet our self indulgent emotions and actions. We are all guilty of it. Words have meaning. There is absolute truth. It is found in the Bible.

We need to be able to discern Biblical truth and will our spirit, mind and body to live it rather than having knowledge of the truth and using it to justify our day to day living. Jesus said in Matthew 10:16, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." We as modern Christians have mastered the harmless part, but we have trouble with the wise part. This is because we have so accepted the mindset of the world that we have trouble speaking the truth, acting, living the truth, even though we know what it is. Hence, we can reason that we can tolerate, even embrace, worldly standards that go against the tenets of God even though we do not agree with them.

Romans 12:2 says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." We cannot accomplish this by accepting the world's standards and bending God's truth to them. Jesus said in John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Once we are free we must not go back to bondage. But we as a people are in bondage. I propose that we initiate a Revivalution within ourselves, our families and our communities to become the light God has called us to be and to counter the culture by being the salt He told us we are. Revivalution. Think about it. I will write more later.

Congress Votes Tomorrow on Open Homosexual Behavior in the Military

Following Obama's lead, Congress is poised to pass legislation that could dramatically and negatively impact our Armed Forces.

Deceptively titled as the "Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2010" (S. 3065, H.R. 1283), it will not only repeal the current practice of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," but also the current law that forbids homosexual conduct and replace it with "a policy of nondiscrimination based on sexual orientation" so that men and women may openly engage in homosexual (and bisexual) behavior in the Armed Forces. To add further insult, this legislation is being attached to the Defense Authorization Bill, which funds the military.

A vote on this dangerous bill is likely to happen tomorrow. If the church does not rise up and contact their elected representatives, it will surely pass.

We need your help to get the word out and ask your members to take action tomorrow. So we are providing a tool to help you do just that. Click here to download a half-page Bulletin, print it out, copy it double-sided, cut down the middle, then distribute the half-sheet copies in high traffic areas. The backside of the Bulletin provides three simple action steps for your church members.

PRAYER REQUEST FROM CHPP:

Holy, Holy GOD! We come to You in the power of the resurrected Christ and plead for Your intervention in this matter. We confess our sins before You as a nation, and we repent of our iniquities.

Father God, pull down all empowerment of those in office to pass this legislation through for a vote. Put in place a mighty angel from heaven to stand guard at the gate and block its passage.

God we decree that it be forbidden from heaven. Disallow all satanic intentions and negotiations by the blood of Jesus. By Your shed blood, we ask You to dispossess master spirits and ask that You send Michael, other archangels, and the angelic host to handle any satanic resistance to the destruction of this piece of legislation. In Jesus Name, and under the Wing of His protection, we ask this prayer, amen.

"Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for this king, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there is more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles." (II Chronicles 32:7-8)

Healing of the Water

19 The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive."
20 "Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it." So they brought it to him.

21 Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the LORD says: 'I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.' " 22 And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

The Daily Brief - Tuesday, May 25, 2010

"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." (2 Peter 3:18)

The Daily Brief

1. Obama Seeks Modified Line-item Veto - Politico

On Monday, the Obama team proposed a line-item veto with a twist: The president would have a limited time after a bill is passed to submit a package of rescissions that must be considered by Congress in straight up or down votes. First, it would require that a package of proposed rescission be submitted within 45 days after the final passage of an appropriations bill. Second, Congress would not be permitted to amend the package of cuts. Third, the House and Senate would face time limits for debate, which would guarantee the president's cuts get an up or down vote rather quickly.

• Lord, we pray that this line-item veto power will not be without restraints and that the president will not have complete control over any bills and decisions made. Give us a righteous nation with godly leaders.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan. (Proverbs 29:2)

2. Compromise reached on 'don't ask, don't tell' - Washington Post

President Obama has agreed to a compromise between lawmakers and the Defense Department that removes a key obstacle to the repeal of the military's 17-year-old ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the armed forces. Read more.

more.

• Lord, again we see decisions by our Congress accelerating votes on issues without carefully seeking counsel. We pray our officials seek advice and counsel with those who are closest to this issue -- the generals -- before voting.

For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. (Proverbs 11:14)

3. Income From Private Sector Shrinks - USA Today

Paychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history during the first quarter of this year, a USA TODAY analysis of government data finds. The recession has erased 8 million private jobs. Even before the downturn, private wages were eroding because of the substitution of health and pension benefits for taxable salaries.

Economist David Henderson of the conservative Hoover Institution says a shift from private wages to government benefits saps the economy of dynamism. "People are paid for being rather than for producing," he says.

• Lord, stir up our economy. Stir up the people with new ideas and concepts to start their own businesses. We pray against complacency. We declare Jehovah Jireh our provider, and not reliance on the government.

who go down to Egypt without consulting me; who look for help to Pharaoh's protection, to Egypt's shade for refuge. (Isaiah 30:2)

4. Government Turns Up Pressure on BP - USA Today

Federal officials and lawmakers said Monday that they will step up the pressure on British energy giant BP to stop the gushing well in the Gulf of Mexico. Governor Bobby Jindal, meanwhile, reiterated his pleas with administration officials Monday to approve a $350 million plan by local leaders to create offshore sand berms to keep the oil from hitting the marshes. The plan is awaiting an emergency permit by the Army Corps of Engineers.

• Heavenly Father, we pray for engineers to create a workable way to quickly stop this great leak of oil into the Gulf. We pray that all parties work together and that the government will not be slow to respond.

Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility. He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him. (Proverbs 18:12, 13)

5. U.S. Was Not Ready For Major Oil Spill - Wall Street Journal

Crude gushing into the Gulf of Mexico and washing ashore in Louisiana is exposing how ill-prepared the U.S. has been to respond to a major offshore oil spill.

• Lord, we pray the government will be held responsible for their delay in this situation where federal help is needed in order to stop this leak. We pray that the government will have a plan in place, to respond more rapidly, in a crisis such as this one.

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest; so shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like an armed man. (Proverbs 24:33, 34)

• Lord, we pray that the elected officials will stop these practices of taxing and over-spending. And if they will not, replace them with people who are wise and frugal.

The Lord is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, But the unjust knows no shame. (Zephaniah 3:5)

7. Planned Parenthood Debuts New Building - Chron

The $26 million project, dubbed Prevention Park, is the largest Planned Parenthood administrative and medical facility in the nation. It also serves as the headquarters for 12 clinics - 10 in Texas and two in Louisiana. There's room to increase Texas clients by 30 percent, from 90,000 visits to those 10 locations in 2009 to roughly 120,000 annually.

Planned Parenthood Building Opens 5/20/10 - KIAH

Planned Parenthood had their dedication and ribbon cutting yesterday. During the ceremony PP starting "praying" calling the new building "holy and sacred ground."

• Heavenly Father, we come against this abomination of the killing of unborn children in America. We take authority over this largest abortion facility in America and we command the clinic and all other abortion clinics to close through atrophy. We pray that everyone entering these facilities for any reason will be repulsed by the idea of entering. We pray for multitudes of people to speak out against these abortions and for the post abortion people to speak against abortion even louder. Help us to end abortion permanently!

They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons, and shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood. Thus they were defiled by their own works, and played the harlot by their own deeds. Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people, So that He abhorred His own inheritance. The Soviet Seed Now A Strong Tree In America

Former Soviet KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov, who defected from the Soviet Union in 1970, conducted an interview in 1984 about Soviet infiltration methods and the plan to take over America. Bezmenov told Edward Griffin of the John Birch Society that by 1970 the Soviet Union already had infiltrated the United States through brainwashing left-leaning people in the news media, the entertainment industry, politics, business, education, and religion. He said that the Soviet Union used a brainwashing strategy called ideological subversion designed to change the perception of reality of every American so "no one is able to come to sensible conclusions" to defend themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

Bezmenov said there are four stages of ideological subversion. The first stage, demoralization, which takes 15-30 years according to Bezmenov, was completed before 1985. The second stage, also completed, is destabilization. This is where people destabilize the entire nation through actions that are counter to common sense and sound practices. The third stage is creating crisis.

And the fourth stage is normalization. Bezenov said that the leftists that help create these stages are the first to be executed by a communist dictatorship because once they find out they have perpetrated a lie, they become the most ardent opposition. Those who stand against communism by warning others are also executed.

Bezmenov said that the Soviets used brainwashed leftists to teach Marxism-Leninism ideology to several generations of American students. He said that these teachings included feminism, sexual liberation, hedonism, anti-war sentiments, liberation theology, and globalism. He said these students are now the people who are the business, religious, political, educational, media, and entertainment leaders of American society. He said, "You are stuck with them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli. . . . You cannot change their mind, even if you expose them to authentic information . . . the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible."

To reverse this process, Bezmenov said writing letters will not work. He said, "There must be a very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of real patriotism, number one. Number two, to explain to them the real danger of socialist, communist, welfare state, big brother government...The moment at least part of the United States population is convinced that the danger is real, they have to force their government...to stop aiding communism." I will add another way to reverse the process: Mark 16:15, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." And Ephesians 6:20, " . . . that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." Christian Americans must see clearly and act decisively.

Research Debunks One Lie of the Gay Agenda

FRC Research Debunks One Lie of the Gay Agenda:

Homosexuality in Women: It's Nurture, Not Nature

Original research conducted by FRC has just driven another nail in the coffin of the "gay gene" myth. Homosexual activists want to win the affirmation and celebration of homosexual relationships as a matter of "civil rights." That campaign rests largely on an effort to persuade people that homosexuality is fixed at birth by genetic or biological factors, rather than influenced by social and environmental ones. But the latest edition of Mapping America, the flagship publication of FRC 's Marriage and Religion Research Institute (MARRI), has proven that family structure in childhood has a huge influence on the likelihood of women to engage in homosexual conduct as adults.

Drawing on data from the National Survey of Family Growth, FRC's Patrick Fagan, Ph.D., working with D. Paul Sullins, Ph.D., found that women who grew up with their married, biological mother and father were the least likely to have had a same-sex sexual partner in the previous year. Women who did not grow up with both biological parents were anywhere from 50% to 240% more likely to have had a homosexual partner. The study also looked at the correlation between homosexual conduct and religious attendance. Overall, it found that women from non-intact families who never attend worship are four and a half times more likely to have homosexual relations than women from intact families who worship weekly. It's clear that nurture, not nature, plays the principal role in determining which women pursue homosexual relationships. (Family Research Council)

Two Members of Congress Question Why Census Bureau is Leasing Space
in a Mosque as an Office

IPT Report on Census Lease Prompts Inquiries

Two members of Congress want the General Services Administration (GSA) to explain what research, if any, was done before signing a $582,000 lease with a Virginia mosque that law enforcement officials say has been the subject of numerous terror-financing investigations. The letters to GSA Administrator Martha Johnson from U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa and Senator Susan Collins follow an Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) story disclosing the 2008 lease for a Census Bureau office, and the law enforcement assessments of the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center.

Records from the Department of Homeland Security obtained by the IPT indicate the mosque was "operating as a front for Hamas operatives in U.S.," and "has been linked to numerous individuals linked to terrorism financing." Issa, the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, wrote that he was concerned "there are insufficient procedures in place to vet potential contract partners." It would be "evidence of an alarming inter-agency communication failure" if the law enforcement reports about Dar Al-Hijrah were not available to GSA officials. If it is available, and GSA simply didn't check, "there may be an even more problematic systemic issue." (The IPT Blog) Read more

Hearing Verifies Reports on Times Square Bomb Plotter

Alleged Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad made his first court appearance Tuesday evening since his arrest on May 3. While federal prosecutors used the opportunity to confirm some earlier reports regarding the investigation, new details continue to emerge about the failed terrorist attack. During the 10-minute hearing at the federal courthouse in Manhattan, prosecutors confirmed what has already been widely reported. Shahzad waived his right to a speedy court appearance and to an attorney, and explained that he has been cooperating with law enforcement officials. The judge also reviewed the charges that have been filed against Shahzad-attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, using a destructive device in connection with an attempted crime of violence, transporting explosives, and attempting to destroy property with fire and explosives. If convicted, as the court explained, Shahzad could face up to life in prison. (IPT News) Read more

Free Gaza flotilla readies for confrontation with Israeli navy

Organizers of the nine-ship armada attempting to break Israel's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip this week say they will not resist a possible takeover by IDF naval forces. An Israeli government spokesman responded that the fleet is welcome to deliver its cargo of construction materials and medical supplies to an Israeli port. The looming standoff at sea comes as Israel has allowed 637 truckloads, containing 14,069 tons of humanitarian aid, into Gaza just in the past week. In addition, the Financial Times is reporting that Gaza is experiencing a glut in consumer goods smuggled into the Strip by cross-border tunnels. These tunnels have become so efficient that shops all over Gaza are bursting with such goods as Coca-Cola, Nescafe, Snickers and Heinz ketchup, all very cheap and widely available. Tunnel operators have also flooded Gaza with Korean refrigerators, German food mixers and Chinese air conditioning units. "Everything I demand, I can get," says Abu Amar al-Kahlout, who sells household goods out of a warehouse big enough to accommodate a passenger jet. (ICEJ News)

A GREAT Victory For Kentucky!!!! ACLU is 0 for 4

The Ten Commandments display in Grayson County, Kentucky, will stand!!

Dear Friends,

This is a great victory after an eight year battle. It is good to see the enemy turned at the gates through prayer and perseverance. We are beginning to see more and more victories in the courts.

Thank God for Christian attorneys who are anointed and appointed by God to defend righteousness through the legal systems in our Nation.

Many Blessings,

KY Strategic Prayer Network

The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has rejected a request to rehear the case, and Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel does not think the ACLU will take their argument any further. "I doubt very seriously the ACLU will ask the Supreme Court to get involved in this matter, because every case that they've had since 2005, when I argued the case at the U.S. Supreme Court on this very issue, they've lost at the court of appeals," Staver explains.

He believes they know that the higher court will not favor their arguments. "So I doubt...they'll move forward with this," he reiterates. "This is another defeat. This is the fourth federal court of appeals defeat since 2005 against the ACLU involving the Ten Commandments."

The display -- titled "Foundations of Law and Government" -- exhibits and explains the significance of the Ten Commandments, the Magna Carta, the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Preamble to the Kentucky Constitution. It also includes the Star-Spangled Banner, the National Motto, and a picture of Lady Justice. (OneNewsNow)
