The Daily Brief

1. China announces plans to boost secret detention powers - Reuters

China wants to cement in law police powers to hold dissidents and other suspects of state security crimes in secret locations without telling their families, under draft legislation released on Tuesday that has been decried by rights advocates.

- God, strike down by the power of our God this heinous plan to boost secret detention powers. This is a shockingly evil and abominable announcement born out of hearts who are given over to the archenemy. We travail in prayer for the souls of the Chinese whose lives are controlled by this government's mindset. Draw out as many as possible to find Jesus Christ as Savior of their souls. In Jesus' Name.

- "But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they His counsel: for He shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor." ( Micah 4:12)

2. Iran deploys submarine, warship to the Red Sea - Jerusalem Post

Iran is planning to send its 15th fleet, comprised of a submarine and a warship, to the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, semi-official news agency Press TV quoted Iranian naval commander Admiral Habibollah Sayyari as saying on Tuesday.

- God, disarm this 15th fleet as a ruthless effort to destroy Israel. Bring their efforts to naught. They are striving against the God of Israel, and have never considered this as a self-destructive effort. Protect the Iranians who believe in the Lord God of Israel. In Jesus' Name.

- "The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that rules over men must be just ruling in the fear of God." (II Samuel 23:3)

3. Rebels Gives Qaddafi Forces Weekend Deadline - Bloomberg

Libyan rebel leaders expressed growing confidence that Muammar Qaddafi's days on the run are numbered.

- God, should there be any possibility that Qaddafi would turn to God and repentance be found in his heart, then we ask that he will be saved. He has lived his life without God, but we pray he will not live throughout eternity without God. In Jesus' Name.

- "If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)

4. Katia Expected to Become Hurricane - Bloomberg

Tropical Storm Katia may grow into a hurricane in the next two days as it moves west-northwest through the mid-Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

- Father God, protect all the people that would be in the path of this oncoming storm. This day is a day of trouble and we lift up our prayer for the remnant who are lost and need the Lord to save them. Forgive all blasphemy spoken against God and save their souls. In Jesus' Name.

- "And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covering from storm and from rain." (Isaiah 4:6)

5. Judge blocks parts of Texas abortion law on sonograms - Reuters

A federal judge temporarily blocked key provisions of a Texas abortion law on Tuesday that would require women seeking the procedure to view a sonogram and listen to the heartbeat of their fetus.

- God, deal with this judge's heart who blocked this life-changing provision of a Texas abortion law. Reach out to the unborn, my Father, and save their lives through the delivering power of the Lord. In Jesus' Name.

- "Now is the end come upon you, and God will send His anger upon you, and will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense upon you all your abominations." (Ezekiel 7:3)

6. New Web Campaign Targets Christian Groups - CBN News

Online political activists recently launched a campaign that pressures businesses to discriminate against customers and charities based on their faith.

- God, go before these political activists who are driven by an anti-Christ spirit and shut them down by sending an angel from heaven to block their path. Jesus is Lord of lords and King of kings and no power on earth can stop His work on the earth. We ask that the spiritual blindness of these activists will be dealt with, and they not be carried down a path of utter self-destruction by this evil spirit. In Jesus' Name.

- "And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of anti-Christ, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." (I John 4:3)

7. One in five US Moslems knows of extremist support in community - UK Telegraph

One in five American Moslems knows of support for extremism in their community, new research has found, despite Moslems being far happier about the state of the US.

- God, we ask that You weaken these extremists' warlike spirit that are an enemy living in our land of America. Bind this spirit by the blood of Jesus wherever it is found, and disarm all their efforts. May their activities be closed off and confusion be in their ranks. Show mercy to those whose heart is tender toward the Lord, and save their souls. In Jesus' Name.

- "Therefore, behold I will hedge up their way with thorns, and make a wall and put up a hindrance, that they shall not find their paths." (Hosea 2:6)

3. IDF training Israeli settlers ahead of 'mass disorder' expected in September - Ha'aretz

The IDF has conducted detailed work to determine a "red line" for each settlement in the West Bank, which will determine when soldiers will be ordered to shoot at the feet of Palestinian protesters if the line is crossed. It is also planning to provide settlers with tear gas and stun grenades as part of the defense operation.

Something Queer Has Happened to America

Dr. Brown's new book, Something Queer Has Happened to America, detailing the Homosexual agenda and a logical response to it has just been released. Here are a few excerpts:
1. The legitimizing of homosexuality as normal alternative to heterosexuality requires that all opposition to homosexual behavior be delegitimized.

2. Whereas homosexuality was once considered a pathological disorder, from here on those who do not affirm homosexuality will be deemed homophobic.

3. Whereas gay sexual behavior was once considered morally wrong, from here on public criticism of that behavior will be considered morally wrong.
4. First gay activists came out of the closet; second they demanded their "rights"; third they demanded that everyone recognize those "rights"; fourth, they want to strip away the rights of those who oppose them; fifth, they want to put those who oppose their "rights" into the closet.

5. From here on, embracing diversity refers to embracing all kinds of homosexual expression, but rejects every kind of religious or moral conviction that does not embrace those orientations.

6. From here on, hate refers to any attitude that differs with the gay agenda, while gays are virtually exempt from the charge of hate speech, since they are always the perceived victims and never the victimizers.

Trouble In Jordan

Jordanian Opposition Demands Limits on King's Powers

Jordan's opposition Muslim Brotherhood movement on Sunday called for a curtailment of the king's powers and indicated it might boycott the next general elections if its demands were not met.

"The Islamic movement will decide its political participation in the light of the response to these necessary demands that cannot be postponed," said Hamzeh Mansour, secretary general of the Islamic Action Front, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood.

One of these demands, Mansour said, called for a revision of the constitution to ensure that prime ministers be appointed from parties or parliamentary coalitions that have majorities in the lower house. The king has so far appointed premiers and ministers a t his discretion.

King Abdullah II set up a royal committee for the revision of the constitution in May at the height of demonstrations that swept Jordan, inspired by the uprisings in Tunisia. (DPA/Trend - Azerbaijan)
- The Arab Spring has gone through the Arab Summer and now is heading into the Arab Fall. Scripture decrees that "there is nothing new under the sun," and so it is with the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Jordan's situation is tricky, at best. The original home of the Palestinians before they moved into Israel, King Abdullah II has traditionally been a friend of Israel. As the Muslim Brotherhood works again to take down one more Arab government and impose its own leadership in Jordan, lift up King Abdullah II in prayer, asking that the One True God would grant him and his advisors wisdom and peace. Amen.

- I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (I Timothy 2:1,2)

40 Days of Prayer for Israel

August 30 - October 10

Prayer Points (Part Two)
The sponsor of this call to fasting and prayer for Israel, The Elijah Prayer Army, has posted 15 specific prayer targets during this fast, with Scriptures included.

We will post several of these prayer points each day until we have reached the end of this list.

You may also wish to view the entire list of prayer targets by going here.

Pray that God will foil the plans of the nations!

"Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations." (Ps 33:8-11)

Praise God for his power to save his people and give them victory!

"Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them - this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the LORD." (Ps 149)

Pray for the blessing and protection of the Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria and for the ministry of HaYovel mobilizing help to these farmers!

"They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. Strangers will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards." (Isa 61:4-5)

The Good News Corner:

Catholic school won't host Ramadan dinner

WESTWOOD, OHIO - Mother of Mercy, a Catholic girls high school, complied with a request from Archbishop Dennis Schnurr and backed out of hosting an interfaith Ramadan dinner at the school Friday night. Instead, the dinner will be held in the Catholic Center at St. Monica-St. George Parish in University Heights, which is not a school.

Schnurr on Monday asked Mother of Mercy to cancel its plans to host an Iftar, an evening meal, with a local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. During Ramadan, observant Muslims fast during the daylight hours and break their fast with a large meal at night. . . Mother of Mercy had planned to co-host an Iftar with CAIR's local chapter since spring, when groups of Mercy students and students linked with CAIR performed community service together.

But recent emails and other contacts with school and Archdiocese officials changed their plans.Mother of Mercy President Kirsten MacDougal said Schnurr has received complaints from people - she didn't know how many. Most of the complaints were emails from people who do not live in this region but who follow the news and activities of CAIR's national office, she said. The emails "were not hostile, they were not threatening, but they were emotionally charged," she said. Schnurr could not be reached for comment. Archdiocesan spokesman Dan Andriacco said that Schnurr received complaints - not threats - about CAIR's involvement. . .

CAIR, based in Washington D.C., is the largest Moslem civil liberties and advocacy organization in the United States. Its stated mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam and build coalitions that promote mutual understanding. Local chapters of CAIR operate independently, like franchises, raising funds and supporting causes based on local priorities. The national CAIR group has been scrutinized for years as one of many Islamic groups on the radar of federal agencies investigating terrorism. Critics of CAIR say it supports an extremist agenda. They point out that at least five people with ties to the national group or its leadership have been convicted or deported because of links to terrorist groups.

The Washington, D.C.-based CAIR was among 275,000 nonprofits nationwide that the Internal Revenue Service stripped of tax-exempt status in June. None of the groups filed required tax returns, known as Form 990s, for three years, and any donations to them can be taxed, the IRS reported. CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said his group filed accurate, on-time returns but lost its tax-exempt status over an incorrect filing from several years ago. But employees couldn't produce CAIR's latest Form 990 and critics suggest the charity avoided filing to hide financial dealings from the public.

- Offer praise for the leadership of this Catholic Archdiocese in making this decision. Whatever their motives, this is the hour to separate light from darkness . . . even as the darkness is cloaked with smooth-sounding words . . . Praise God.

- "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32)

Calm My Storm

(Original Christian Song)
This is precious original song by the young man who is singing it. He wrote it based on Psalm 77 when his family found out that his dad was sick. There seems to be no self-promotion here, only sharing a truth from God's Word:
"God, when I think of the works of Your hands,
I know You can do it once again
'cause You have walked on water
Your hand has calmed the seas
the deaf have heard Your voice
Please, God, heal the storm in me."

The Daily Brief

1. FEMA, to Pay for Irene Damage, Delays Funds for Rebuilding in Tornado-ravaged Areas - Washington Post

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is temporarily suspending some payments to rebuild roads, schools and other structures destroyed during spring tornadoes in Joplin, Mo., and Southern states and other recent natural disasters to pay for damage caused by Hurricane Irene.

With initial damage assessments from the storm potentially in the tens of billions of dollars, the Obama administration will need to request supplemental funding from Congress, possibly provoking another fight over federal spending as a new congressional "super committee" prepares to identify trillions of dollars in government spending cuts.

• Lord, we pray for your provision during this time of restoring communities. We pray that Congress will quickly approve the money necessary to help those affected by the storms. We pray that citizens and churches will come forward to help people rebuild their lives. May they give glory to you for their help!

• And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Philippians 4:19-20)

2. Hurricane Irene Wreaks $7 Billion in Damage - VOA News

Economic experts estimate Hurricane Irene caused about $7 billion in damage as it slammed into Eastern Seaboard of the United States, killing at least 33 people. Along the way, Hurricane Irene cut off electricity to about 4 million people, prompted two-and-a-half million people to evacuate, and damaged roads, bridges and buildings with high winds, floods and falling trees.

Dr. Roger Pielke, expert in hurricanes and economics, said better building codes [rules for builders] help keep the costs from growing even faster, and he credits improved weather forecasting for helping reduce the death toll.

• We thank you Lord, that the storms were not as severe as they first predicted, and that you restrained them. We pray that good things will come of these storms including preparations and better buildings - but more than that - we pray that people will see their need to keep close to you.

• The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (Psalm 18:2) He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer. This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord. (Psalm 102:17-18)

3. Record Floods Affect US Northeast After Irene - VOA News

U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Craig Fugate said Monday that flooding has reached "record" levels in the states of Vermont and New York. Rivers and creeks in both states burst their banks, producing torrents of water that swept away trees, cars and parts of historic bridges. Hundreds of residents fled to shelters.

Authorities reported 33 storm-related deaths in 10 eastern states, mostly from falling frees, road accidents and raging floodwaters. Experts say the damage is likely to total billions of dollars. Fugate said it is too early to give an official estimate because federal, state and local authorities still are assessing the destruction.

• Heavenly Father, we pray for the waters of these floods to go down quickly and gently. We pray there will be no more storms until all is stable once again. We pray people will have courage, commitment, and perseverance to rebuild quickly. We pray they will also have compassion to help others.

• He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength . . . But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29, 31)

4. Will International Space Station Be Abandoned? - Fox News

With the end of the storied space shuttle program, NASA is forced to rely on Russian spacecraft to operate the International Space Station. The recent crash of a Russian spaceship in the remote reaches of Siberia underscores the risk of that policy decision. But if Russian Soyuz rockets remain grounded beyond mid-November, there will be no way to launch new crews before the current residents are supposed to leave.

"Logistically, we can support [operations] almost forever, but eventually if we don't see the Soyuz spacecraft, we'll probably be going to unmanned ops before the end of the year," Suffredini told Spaceflight Now last week. A joint board of the world's space agencies can operate the orbiting science project indefinitely without astronauts on board, he said. "We prefer not to operate without crew on board for an extended period of time." The International Space Station, which serves as a research laboratory, has been permanently manned for more than a decade.

• Lord, we pray for more support from our leaders regarding the space program. It is short-sighted to close the program because space exploration has advanced medical science, weather predictions, global activities, communications, and much more. We also pray for safety for everyone involved with the program, quick solutions to these problems, and restoration of the program. Please grant Your wisdom to those in authority regarding this very special need. Amen.

• The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men . . . He looks On all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. (Psalm 33:13-15)

5. Obama's Labor Problem: Union Scales Back Support for Democratic Party - ABC

Instead of giving money to boost the Democratic Party as a whole, the union plans to build its own strategy to influence specific races and highlight particular issues beyond the election season. The union's announcement comes on the heels of AFL-CIO's move to create their own Super PAC, which will allow the union to collect and spend unlimited funds. The union said the Super PAC is one aspect of AFL-CIO's strategy to build a year-round political operation.

AFL-CIO's political media outreach specialist Jeff Hauser. "We are much more interested in building a year-round, odd year and even year, every year political mobilization rather than gearing up ourselves six months [before the election] and relying on an external political operation."

• Lord, we pray these groups who exert undue pressure on political candidates, politicians, and parties will not be able to sway them. Let people go back to righteousness in their dealings instead of coercion.

• Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, But a just weight is His delight . . . The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. (Proverbs 11:1-3)

6. Outrage As Obama Names New Voter Initiative After ACORN - NewsMax

Government watchdogs are blasting the Obama campaign's decision to name its 2012 voter-registration initiative "Project Vote" - the same name as a group closely linked to the well-known but discredited ACORN organization. Many fear it signals a gloves-off approach to get-out-the-vote efforts that will rely on familiar but very fraudulent tactics.

"It should alert people to the fact that Project Vote hasn't gone away," he says. "One of the big misconceptions has been that ACORN and Project Vote, which had been associated with voter registration issues in 2008, disappeared as a result of the scandals, as a result of the videos. They haven't disappeared - the state ACORN groups are still operational, and obviously Project Vote is still using the ACORN method to register voters."

• Heavenly Father, we pray that you will reveal these plots and schemes. Let your truth be revealed and hidden agendas thwarted. We pray for a great campaign season without all the negative politics. Block those who would do such things.

• For among My people are found wicked men; they lie in wait as one who sets snares; they set a trap; they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so their houses are full of deceit. Therefore they have become great and grown rich. (Jeremiah 5:26-27)

7. Michele Bachmann: Hurricane Irene Is God's Warning To Washington; Campaign Says She Was Joking - ABC

"I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake; we've had a hurricane. He said, 'Are you going to start listening to me here?' Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending," Bachmann said in Sarasota on Sunday, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

"What Michele Bachmann's campaign strategy seems to be is to make sure she's not seen as an extreme candidate and for her not to just appeal to the Tea Party and evangelicals, but also independents. So when she comes out and jokes around like this -- her campaign is saying it's a joke -- it does play into the stereotype that's out there," Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody said. "That's a danger zone for her, but at the same time she is what she is, so it's hard for her to rein in at times."

• Father God, we pray that the media will stop twisting and perverting the truth. Let them speak and print Your truth in spite of themselves, and that people will reject any lies. I also pray we will not be ashamed to speak of you, and of what you are saying to us.

• For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. (Luke 9:26)

2. Israel mulls higher taxes for highest earners, to fund social programs - Ha'aretz

The Finance Ministry is considering raising taxes on the highest earners in order to fund more social measures.

3. PA minister claims Israel harvests Palestinian organs - Jerusalem Post

The Palestinian Authority Minister of Prisoner Affairs Issa Qaraqi was quoted Sunday as saying Israel is the "major harvesting and trading center" of body organs in the world. His comments come even as the Defense Ministry is recommending to the government the release of a few hundred Palestinian prisoners to PA President Mahmoud Abbas in September to try and create a better atmosphere in the West Bank.

4. 'WikiLeaks docs exposing Mossad agents' names leaked' - Ynet News

The original US State Department documents obtained by WikiLeaks were accidentally leaked online revealing the names of sources that have thus far remained anonymous, German newspapers Der Spiegel and Freitag Der reported Monday. The names include possible Israeli, Iranian and Jordanian intelligence agents.

The Great Commission Mission

The Great Commission is the cornerstone to the ministry Jesus Christ challenged us to do here on earth. It is not about Dominion Theology or setting up the kingdom here on earth so that Jesus can return. Its about making disciples of Christ throughout the world. In Matthew 28:19 Jesus said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." He said in Mark 16:15, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Jesus said in Acts 1:8 that we were to be witnesses to him "unto the uttermost part of the earth." The Daily Jot takes this very seriously.

In late 1991, William Agbeti came to America on a non-political mission representing as a citizen, certain more official interests in, the dictatorship of Ghana. I was in my 12th year as a political consultant/operative for Christian conservative candidates and officeholders. William had been looking through the yellow pages for someone to which to tell his story and co-opt as a partner in bringing investment and good things to his homeland. The Holy Spirit directed him to Princeton-Fairfax Communications, my consulting firm. My partner and good friend Bob Bradsell called me up from Princeton, saying that he had someone that I should meet. I guess Bob knew that I was always up for an adventure.

William, whose last name means "Tree of Life," and I became close friends very quickly--one of those God-ordained relationships. And before long, William had me on a plane to Ghana. It was late June 1992 when I was introduced to the smiles, hearts, hardships, challenges and love of the Ghanian people. Over the next 19 years, William and I would work together to bring computers and computer assembly jobs to Ghana, create jobs by building homes in Ghana, introduce the Ghana government to new ways of home financing, establish a first of its kind ministry to the handicapped and disabled, and, through all that, shared the gospel to those who had never heard it.

By the Lord's hand, William and I either independently or together during our friendship have survived coups, life threatening rip tides, bombs at the airport, hunger, persecution, strange sicknesses and a multitude of other inconveniences to bring the love of Christ to West Africa. Today, we have answered the call to train up pastors for rural ministry to offset the murderous and tyrannical impact of Islam that is sweeping across the sub-Sahara. Our vision is to reach out with love, with training, with church life that meets needs in the name of Christ. Both of us, in our mid to late 50's demand on one another to not slow down, but to count our risks as joy in bringing the full gospel to Ghana and West Africa. We take The Great Commission very seriously.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

40 Days of Prayer for Israel

August 30 - October 10

Prayer Points (Part One)

The sponsor of this call to fasting and prayer for Israel, The Elijah Prayer Army, have posted 15 specific prayer targets during this fast, with Scriptures included.

We will post several of these prayer points each day until we have reached the end of this list.

You may also wish to view the entire list of prayer targets by going here.

Pray for God's mercy towards Israel and that he will remember his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

- "But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. 'LORD,' he said, 'why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, 'It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.' . . Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. But now, please forgive their sin-but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.'" (Ex 32:11-13,31-32)

Pray that God will arise and help his people!

- "O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. 'Come,' they say, 'let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more.'" (Ps 83:1-4)

Proclaim God's greatness!

"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor? Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing." (Isa 40:12-16)

Something Special . . .

'Il Silenzio' - Melissa Venema (13 years old)

("TAPS" - the Original Piece)

'Il Silencio' (The Silence) played by 13 year old Melissa Venema with André Rieu and his orchestra at the 'Vrijthof' in Maastricht.

To all military friends and others who appreciate the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces:

The conductor of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Holland .

The young lady, her trumpet and her rendition of TAPS makes your hair stand on end. Many of you may never have heard taps played in its entirety, for all of the men & women that have died for you to have the freedom you have in America .

This is an opportunity you won't want to miss and you'll never forget.

Amazingly beautiful! Melissa Venema, age 13, is the trumpet soloist. Here is Taps played in its entirety. The Original version of Taps was called Last Post, and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801. It was rather lengthy and formal, as you will hear in this clip, so in 1862 it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named Taps. Melissa Venema is playing it on a trumpet whereby the original was played on a bugle. Enjoy!!! (Source: Canada Free Press)

The Daily Brief

1. VERMONT BATTLES FLOOD IN IRENE'S AFTERMATH - Fox News

MONTPELIER, Vermont - The full measure of Hurricane Irene's fury came into focus Monday as the death toll passed 44, while towns in the northern U.S. region of New England battled epic floods and millions were still without electricity. From North Carolina to Maine, communities cleaned up and took stock of the uneven and hard-to-predict costs of a storm that spared the nation's biggest city a nightmare scenario, only to deliver a historic wallop to towns well inland. Read more.

-Tonight we are praying for the families of the 44 Americans who have lost their lives in this storm, and we are asking for an extra measure of grace to be with the countless power company employees who are now frantically working to restore electricity to the milliions of homes that have lost power. Even so, the damage from this storm could have been much, much worse had God's people not prayed . . . thank Him for the miracle (for example) of quick restoration of mas transit in New York City alone. His hand is sure with us . . . Continue in prayer now for the millions who are being hit by the floods from Irene. Amen.

- "But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea." (Jonah 1:4)

2. UNDERPUBLICIZED THREAT DEEP IN WHITE HOUSE - World Net Daily

Penetration by Radical Agents Worse than Thought

Infiltration of the federal government by members of the radical Moslem Brotherhood is worse than some have warned recently, says a former FBI special agent in Washington. The agent confirmed that at least three operatives of the Egypt-based Brotherhood - whose credo is "Jihad is our way and death in the cause of Allah is our dream" - have penetrated the Obama administration.

The shocking charge was first leveled by Moslem reformer Tarek Fatah during a recent speech in Toronto. "When someone says that there is penetration of jihadi Islamists within society, do not dismiss it as some right-wing, xenophobic, racist rant," warned Fatah, a Canadian journalist.

"Today in the White House, there are three members of the Moslem Brotherhood that influence Hussein Obama's policy," he told the audience gathered for an IdeaCity conference. "One is Rashad Hassan, who is the American ambassador to the 52-nation Organization of Islamic (Conference)."

Fatah also named "Dalia Mogahed, who writes (Hussein Obama's) speeches, who comes from the Moslem Brotherhood in Egypt; and another woman, an academic, Azizah al-Hibri, (who) was appointed in that circle." Please read more.

- Pray for each of the Moslems named in this article - that they each will lose their office of influence in our government and each will have encounters with Christians who can lead them to the Truth of the Gospel. We might pray that each one will also be called back to their homeland, never to return to the USA. Check out your local candidates for political office to make sure none are Moslems nor have any affiliation with Moslem organizations. Remember that two members of the House of Representatives are associated with CAIR and took their oath of office with the Koran, not the Bible, in hand. In prayer, block all associations between President Obama and the Moslems who are trying to influence him.

The goal of Islam is to bring our nation under their Sharia rule of law, and into a global "caliphate." Stand against this agenda with Name of God, the Blood of the Lamb, and the Sword of the Spirit, wLinkhich is the Word of God.

- "In humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance , so that they may know the Truth." (2 Tim. 2:25)

3. GORE: GLOBAL WARMING SKEPTICS ARE THIS GENERATION'S RACISTS
- The Daily Caller

One day climate change skeptics will be seen in the same negative light as racists, or so says former Vice President Al Gore. In an interview with former advertising executive and Climate Reality Project collaborator Alex Bogusky broadcasted on UStream on Friday, Gore explained that in order for climate change alarmists to succeed, they must "win the conversation" against those who deny there is a crisis. Gore also took shots at Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has lambasted climate change alarmists on the presidential campaign trail, and at other politicians who dare to question the veracity of global warming science. Read more

- For some reason, Mr. Gore does not seem to have the Lord's ear. Apparently, the enemy of man has Mr. Gore's ear and tongue. This ridiculous statement can prove very wicked in its potential to arrest and enslave those who disagree with Mr. Gore. Please pray that Mr. Gore turns back to his Christian roots and repents for being a troublemaker in God's kingdom. Pray also that his words fall on deaf ears and have no influence at all.

- "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent." (Acts 17: 30)

4. MONSANTO CORN PLANT LOSING BUG RESISTANCE - Wall Street Journal

Widely grown corn plants that Monsanto Co. genetically modified to thwart a voracious bug are falling prey to that very pest in a few Iowa fields, the first time a major Midwest scourge has developed resistance to a genetically modified crop. The discovery raises concerns that the way some farmers are using biotech crops could spawn superbugs.

Iowa State University entomologist Aaron Gassmann's discovery that western corn rootworms in four northeast Iowa fields have evolved to resist the natural pesticide made by Monsanto's corn plant could encourage some farmers to switch to insect-proof seeds sold by competitors of the St. Louis crop biotechnology giant, and to return to spraying harsher synthetic insecticides on their fields.

The finding adds fuel to the race among crop biotechnology rivals to locate the next generation of genes that can protect plants from insects. . . Read more.

- Are these the same seeds that produce only one planting? Also, ethanol, made from corn, is now being used in gasoline, probably depriving some hungry people from the nutritional value of eating corn. Is God speaking to Monsanto about its plans to make money? Pray that farmers in our Midwest will use God's wisdom in growing their crops. Probably crop rotation is one of God's techniques. We need healthy crops in abundance to feed our nation as well as sending our excess to feed famine-burdened countries.

- "Boaz commanded his young men , saying, " Let her [Ruth] glean even among the sheaves do not reproach her. Also let some grain from the bundles fall purposely for her; leave it so that she may glean and do not rebuke her." (Ruth 2: 15,16)

5. EU WORKING ON 'RADICAL' PLAN FOR BANKS: REPORT - CNBC News

Following weeks of heavy losses for banking stocks across Europe, the Sunday Times in the UK reported Sunday that European officials are working on a "radical plan" to prevent a fresh pan-European credit crunch. Wthout citing sources, the paper said officials from the European Central Bank and European Commission are considering offering central guarantees over certain types of debt issued by banks.

The paper goes onto say that the move comes after a number of European banks were shut out of international money markets. The report comes after the head of the International Monetary Fund warned on Saturday that "urgent recapitalization" was needed for Europe's banking industry.

On Saturday, President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke on the phone and agreed on the importance of "concerted action" to address current economic challenges and spur growth and job creation in the global economy. Read more.

- Because the economy is now global, what affects Europe also affects us. Please pray that, if our president has made any unholy alliances with Europe, they would be broken by the Blood of the Lamb. Decree that his eyes are focused on the economy of the USA and not solely on Europe. His advisors should be Americans, not heads of European countries. Ask the Lord to fix Obama's attention on America's needs so that the Lord can lead us to fulfill His destiny for us.

- "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (1 Timothy 6: 10)

6. IRAN LAUNCHES BIBLE-BURNING CAMPAIGN - Newsmax

Iranian authorities began to systematically seize and destroy Bibles after a Shiite cleric issued an urgent warning about the spread of Christianity. Authorities in northwestern Iran seized 6,500 Bibles, according to the Iranian Christian news organization Mohabat News, which quotes an official as saying of the seizure that "all religions are strengthening their power to confront Islam; otherwise, what does this huge number of Bibles mean?" The agency has reported several other recent incidents of Bibles and other Christian literature being seized and sometimes publicly burned.

- Most of history's despots and tyrants have force their citizen to burn Bibles, for they have feared the Truth. Pray fervently for the Iranian Christians as well as for those who are now receiving the Gospel. Ask the Lord to use His mighty arm to protect the Christians in Iran. God is stronger than Ahmadinajad and than any demented mullahs. Amen!

- "I foresaw the Lord always before my face; for He is at my right hand that I may not be shaken." (Psalm 15: 8)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Now also many nations have gathered against you, who say, 'Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.' But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD." (Micah 4:11-12a)

1. Abbas: We won't recognize Israel as Jewish state - Ynet News

The Palestinian Authority will not be recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday, adopting a belligerent tone ahead of his planned statehood bid in September.

2. Gantz orders IDF reinforcement in South after terror alert - Ynet News

IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz has ordered a reinforcement of army presence near the southern Gaza Strip and the Israel-Egypt border following a terrorist alert indicating that the Islamic Jihad was planning to perpetrate an attack in the area.

3. Eight wounded, one seriously, in Tel Aviv terror attack - Ynet News

A Palestinian attacker wounded eight Israelis near a Tel Aviv nightclub early Monday, slamming into a police checkpoint with a stolen taxi and then stabbing others, police said.

4. UN recognition won't stop PA demand for right of return - Jerusalem Post

The Palestinians will continue to demand the right of return for millions of refugees to their original homes inside Israel even after the UN recognizes a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said on Sunday.

5. US presidential candidate: Israel has given up enough - Jerusalem Post

Republican US presidential candidate Herman Cain advised Israel's leadership on Sunday to not make any concessions at all to the Palestinian Authority.

6. U.S.: We will stop aid to Palestinians if UN bid proceeds - Ha'aretz

The United States will stop all financial aid to the Palestinian Authority if they proceed with plans to ask the United Nations for recognition of an independent state in September, a U.S. official warned Friday.

7. HIGH ALERT IN ISRAEL'S SOUTH: IDF AND EGYPT DEPLOY REINFORCEMENTS - Haaretz.com

IDF chief Benny Gantz ordered the deployment of reinforcements around both the southern Gaza Strip and the Egyptian border on Sunday night, due to intelligence reports suggesting an imminent attack by the Islamic Jihad. The reinforcements were coordinated with the Egyptian army. Although security sources estimate that the Islamic Jihad is planning the possible attack, a security official made clear that the IDF will hold Hamas responsible for any terrorist attack originating from the Gaza Strip.

According to estimates, members of the Islamic Jihad are currently in Sinai, and despite the recent ceasefire are interested in carrying out a new attack. Security officials say that the array of tunnels along the border allowed members of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) to cross from Gaza to Sinai and carry out the attacks in Eilat a week and a half ago.

The UK-based newspaper Al-Hayat reported Monday that Egypt has deployed 1,500 troops in the Sinai peninsula, a move that was coordinated with Israeli security forces.

- Pray for the intelligence used by Israel so that those who need to know will have continual information, as Israel works to secure its nation from harm. Ask the Lord to ensure the work of the Egyptian army working with the Israelis. Also, please pray for the safety of those civilians who live in the Sinai, some of whose homes are only tents. Pray that the Egyptians who are helping the Israelis protect its southern border will be blessed.

- "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."
(Psalm 50: 15)

8. Syrian opposition decides to take up arms against Assad regime - Haaretz

The leader of the Revolutionary Council of the Syrian Coordination Committees, Mohammad Rahhal, said in remarks published Sunday that the council took the decision to arm the Syrian revolution.

- Offer praise for this bold move by those who are supporting the revolution in Syria. Pray for supernatural, divine protection for all believers in this land, for they surely shall need an angelic host to encamp round about them in this hour. Praise God!

- 14 "Because he[b] loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation." (Psalm 91:14-17)

The Daily Jot

A word of understanding about the Jot

In recent months, The Daily Jot has increased tremendously in new subscribers, prompting me to share how the "Jot" began and its purpose. In January of 2002, I felt the Lord impress upon me to begin writing a daily email relating current events to the Holy Scriptures with the intent of equipping people to evangelize, and to bring people back to the word of God. The idea came after a lot of prayer. That verse in Proverbs 18:16 kept coming to mind, "A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men." Indeed, I knew from my days as an award winning journalist, that the Lord had gifted me with two things--one was the ability to write, the other, as an investigative journalist, the ability to discern.

In my prayers, the Lord gave me the boundaries for the "Jot." The "Jot" was to be a short, quick read that people could put to use in discussing issues from a Biblical perspective. It was to sound the alarm as a watchful eye over events that had a profound and prophetic impact on God's children. It was to encourage people to aspire to The Great Commission. And it was to warn folks of the impact of events, trends, and dealings by providing information of Biblical importance that is not normally found in the media. The "Jot" is not political, although it comments on politics from a Biblical perspective. The "Jot" is written after much research and events are confirmed by at least two independent sources.

Another very interesting boundary: The "Jot" was not to require subscription fees or to solicit money without need. The Lord impressed upon me, that even though our well being was largely dependent on the "Jot" that we were not to use the marketing techniques that big ministries do to make money. IF there is a need, the Lord impressed upon me, make it known, and through his people, he would provide. Subscriptions to the "Jot" are free. If you feel led by the Lord to contribute to our efforts, you are free to do so. When there is a need, I will let you know what that need is and its between you and the Lord whether you help. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

The "Jot" is also based on what I call an Ezekiel mantle. Ezekiel 3:17 says, "Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me." The Lord goes on to say, and I am paraphrasing, to tell them what he wants you to tell them. If they receive it it is good, if they do not it is on their heads. But if you don't tell them what I tell you to tell them, the "blood will I require at thine hand." So once I write it, and you have it, it is up to you to do with it what you will. I carry no offense toward you one way or another. I do not claim to be a prophet or an apostle. I am just a guy who loves the Lord and is trying my best to be obedient. May the "Jot" be a blessing to you.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

40-Day Fast for Israel

August 30 - October 10

Sponsored by the Elijah Prayer Army

'Come,' they say, 'let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more.'" (Ps 83:4)

On September 20, the Palestinians are planning to ask the United Nations' General Assembly to unilaterally endorse a Palestinian state, thereby dividing God's own land including Jerusalem. The following day the Durban III UN Human Rights conference, with its history of raw anti Semitism and Israel hatred, will begin in New York. (So far six nations have cancelled their participation in Durban III: the US, Canada, Italy, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Israel.)

Coinciding with these two events, the Palestinians are preparing for mass demonstrations that most likely will turn violent. No one knows what will happen, but deliberately planned Palestinian casualties of willing "martyrs," like we have seen so many times before in similar cases, will most likely turn world opinion against Israel in a very ugly way. For instance, we have the famous example at the beginning of the second Intifada where 12 year-old Mohammad Dura died in the arms of his father in front of the TV cameras. According to subsequent detailed investigations, he was hit by a bullet fired by his own people. But Israel was of course immediately blamed, and this fueled a wave of terror against Israel and the Jewish people around the world like lighting a match in front of gasoline. World opinion never waits for the results from careful investigations.

One week after the UN events in New York, the Feast of Trumpets, commonly referred to today as Rosh Hashanah, begins. The Feast of Trumpets initiates the Fall Feasts of the LORD and the Days of Awe. Just as the Spring Feasts prophesy about the first coming of Messiah as the Lamb of God to die for our sins, the Fall Feasts speak about his return in power and glory as the Lion of the tribe of Judah to defend Israel and judge the world in righteousness.

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God." (1 Thess 4:16)

It is interesting to note that in this new millennium, the season around the Fall Feasts have become more and more volatile and intense. It was exactly on the Feast of Trumpets in 2000 that the second Palestinian Intifada, also known as the Oslo War, began. One year later on September 11, one week before the Feast of Trumpets on the Biblical calendar, the twin towers in New York fell. Seven years later, the New York stock market fell just before the beginning of the Fall Feasts, plunging the whole world into a financial crisis.

As the UN begins its annual working season during this time of year with an increased focus on Israel and the Middle East, the Fall Feasts are increasingly becoming a crucial time of year in world politics. The theme of the Feast of Trumpets is God as king judging the world through the Messiah. We see a confrontation building up here, specifically around the issue of Jerusalem, eventually leading to the final fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets with the coming of the Messiah.

"As a lion growls, a great lion over its prey - and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it,
it is not frightened by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor -
so the LORD Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights. Like birds hovering overhead, the LORD Almighty will shield Jerusalem;
he will shield it and deliver it." (Is 31:4-5)

The 40-day fast for Israel

August 30 - October 10

We encourage everyone in the Elijah Prayer Army to intensify prayer for Israel during the upcoming forty days from Elul 1 to Yom Kippur, August 30 - October 10 and also to take responsibility for at least one day of fasting from sundown to sun down during these forty days. If you want to be part of this 40-day fast for Israel, please go to our web site http://thewatchman.org/ and register the day you will fast! We encourage you to forward this appeal to as many praying people as possible. Let's help build a wall of protection around Israel with prayer and fasting during this very crucial time in history!

May God bless you as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem!

Lars and Harriet Enarson

Note: The Elijah Prayer Army has published a list of prayer requests to be lifted up during these 40 days of fasting for Israel. We will publish one each day until we have completed this list, beginning on Day One: Tuesday, August 30, 2011.

The Good News Corner:

Australia, in Solidarity With Israel, Won't Attend UN's Durban III Conference

Like other nations, Australia wants no part of an anti-Semitic hi-jacking of the UN conference.
(Australia)-Following the lead of the U.S., Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Israel, and the Czech Republic, Australia's Prime Minister has announced that her country will also not attend the September Durban III conference at the UN.

The UN "Conference on Racism" is expected to be exploited by enemies of Israel, and Australia anticipates that it will devolve into unacceptable anti-Semitism.

A spokesperson for Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard said: "Australia remained involved in the early stages of consultation on the High Level meeting in order to oppose attempts to endorse extreme language or explicit references to the text of the Durban Declaration. But we have not been convinced that the High Level Meeting will avoid unbalanced criticism of Israel and the airing of anti-Semitic views."

The original Durban conference was held in South Africa in 2001, followed by a second conference in Switzerland in 2009, which was also boycotted by a coalition of Western Nations when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke.

The Israeli government is lauding Australia's move and is calling on other nations to join the boycott.

The Daily Brief

1a.Irene could be "once-in-50-year" Hurricane - AccuWeather

Hurricane Irene is now on a path that could take it dangerously close to, if not over, the mid-Atlantic coastline and New York City on Sunday, posing a serious danger to millions of people.

1b. b) Hurricane Irene Bears Down on Millions in Eastern US - VOA News

Tens of millions of people in the eastern United States are bracing for Hurricane Irene, which forecasters say could be the biggest storm to strike the area in more than half a century. It brings the threat of heavy wind, rain and flooding after punishing the Caribbean late Thursday with winds as high as 185 kilometers per hour.

- Abba, we thank You that in the "eye of the hurricane" is Peace! And that the name of this hurricane, Irene, means "peace!" We ask that Your peace will be with Your people, who put their hope and trust in You. We know that Your Name is a strong tower and we can run into it and be safe! Your Name represents all that you are: our Shelter, our Deliverer, our Peace, our Wisdom, etc. We pray for those who do not know you to reach out to You at this time, and come to hide under the shadow of Your wings! We pray for the safety of the 65 million Americans who are now living in the path of this storm, and for wisdom, skill and strategy for all emergency personnel who must guide our people through this threat. Amen!

- "If you say, "The LORD is my refuge, and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." (Ps 91:9-12)

2. Hurricane Irene risk forces first-ever NYC shutdown - USA Today

NEW YORK - City officials ordered nearly 300,000 residents to leave waterfront neighborhoods and announced the impending shutdown of the city's vast transit system, two unprecedented precautionary steps forced by the threatened fury of Hurricane Irene.

Nursing homes and five hospitals in low-lying areas of the city began evacuating Friday. Residents of coastal areas including Brooklyn's Coney Island and Rockaway Peninsula and the Battery Park City neighborhood in Manhattan must leave for higher ground by 5 p.m. Saturday, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

"We've never done a mandatory evacuation before now and we wouldn't be doing it if we didn't think this storm is going to be serious," he said. "We don't have the manpower to go door-to-door and drag people out," Bloomberg said. But, he added, ignoring the evacuation order means "people might die." Read more.

- Perhaps this is a coincidence, but . . . one day after Mayor Bloomberg announced that no clergy would participate in the memorial service for 9/11 . . . here comes Irene. Indeed, in assessing this situation, the mayor stated that Irene is "heading basically directly for us . . ."

Cry out that all in authority would truly seek the face of God as they make policy decisions for our people; and that repentance would come forth when a mistake is made. It is written: "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

- As a nation, what impacts New York City will impact the whole country, in time. And New York City is the home of the United Nations -- where the nations are due to vote on September 20th to divide the land of Israel, creating a Palestinian state. God have mercy upon us!

Pray that, as we gaze upon New York City taking the bullseye of this storm, we would come to understand this truth. "Those who curse you (Israel) I will curse, and those who bless you I will bless." (Gen. 12:3) Pray that President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and "all in authority" continue to OPPOSE this vote, and will uphold the sovereignty of an undivided Jerusalem and an undivided Israel. Pray!

3a. Washington Monument received more Earthquake Damage than first thought - Huffington Post

Shortly after the rare 5.8 earthquake in Virginia rattled Washington D.C. Tuesday, a Park Service spokesman said there was "absolutely no damage" to the Washington Monument.A more thorough assessment discovered a crack in the monument. Not long after, additional damage was found, including three or four "significant" cracks. The monument was not the only structure affected. The National Cathedral sustained damage worth an estimated millions in repairs.

3b. Hurricane Irene Poses no new threat to Washington Monument - Fox News

The National Park service says the Washington Monument is not in any danger from Hurricane Irene. A temporary sealant has already been applied to the crack caused by Tuesday's earthquake, says NPS spokesman, Bill Line. The sealant will prevent water from seeping in and causing more damage. Line emphasizes that the monument has survived hurricanes, high winds, and rainstorms in the past. The National Weather Service currently has the District of Columbia (Christ) and Metropolitan Areas under a Tropical Storm Warning.

- Abba, thank You that our times are in Your hands, that nothing comes as a surprise to You. We thank You that though the earth be shaken, You are our Stability. You are our Rock, and a firm foundation. The mountains bow down, and the seas roar at the sound of Your Name. We praise You, the Creator of this Universe, and we ask that all of creation will bring praise to You alone!

- "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." (Ps. 46:1-3,11)

4. Irene throws Obama another Curveball Amid Push to refocus on Economy - Fox News

Nevertheless, the storm and its aftermath pose another mess for Obama and Congress to deal with at a time when the administration is looking to roll out a new jobs plan for the nation. Money and time spent on storm recovery is money and time the federal government doesn't have for new economic proposals.

- Even kings and princes must bow to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. It is being reported tonight that Obama has canceled the rest of his trip on Martha's Vineyard, cutting short his vacation with his family. Now that his plans have been disrupted by a Power greater than himself, lift up a prayer that our own sitting "king" in the Oval Office would begin to ponder and to realize the limits to his authority. May he bow to the One True God, and find our Lord as his own Savior, Redeemer and Friend. Amen.

- Father, we know we are now in a season of "men's hearts failing them for fear" . . . financial fears, fears of 'natural disasters', etc. etc. We thank You that You are our Source, and You alone have taken responsibility to supply all that your people need! We pray that these current unstable events occuring, would cause many to turn to You for the answers, and trust You for wisdom and direction. Our Hope is in You!! Amen!

- Lord, again we thank You that You hold our future in Your Hands! We thank You for Your wisdom, and Your peace, that passes all understanding. Again, we ask that You would "woo" those on Wall Street, and those with earthly fortunes, to put their lives in your hands, and their fortunes! - " For after all these things the nations seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matt 6:32-34)

The Daily Jot

Of evil intent and repentance

Iranian madman president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has gone off on one of his tirades again. He says that Israel should be eradicated because it is a symbol of "suppression and discrimination." The ISNA news agency reported that Ahmadinejad told a Lebanese television network, "Iran believes that whoever is for humanity should also be for eradicating the Zionist regime as symbol of suppression and discrimination. Iran follows this issue (eradication of Israel) with determination and decisiveness and will never ever withdraw from this standpoint and policy." He made his remarks as part of the annual Qods Day preparation, where Iranians are to hold anti-Israel demonstrations the last day of Ramadan.

In these days of political civility, it is amazing that a leader of a nation would be able to get away with that kind of speech. He is representing the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran is run by Islamic Sharia law. When Ahmadinejad speaks, he is speaking for Islam, you know, the peaceful religion. Strange it is, that under the current man who occupies the Oval Office that America is assisting the Muslim Brotherhood--a worldwide organization that wants to establish Islamic law globally--in taking over Libya (where nearly a billion dollars of US taxpayers' (your) money was used), Egypt, Syria, Yeman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, a Palestinian state, and who knows where else.

Yes, many of these nations are rivals, but they agree on one thing--the destruction of Israel. And Americans are sending money to these evildoers. Our president is helping them take over countries in the name of democracy and self determination, when in reality that is just a ploy to establish Sharia Law. The latest example is Libya where its new "Constitution" states at the very beginning that the nation will be governed by Sharia law. That means that the Koranic passages about killing Christians and Jews are taken very seriously. Your tax dollars are going to these nations whose leadership wants nothing but to destroy Israel and America.

The Bible says in Isaiah 5:20, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter." Then verse 23 concludes, "Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!" Now here is a hard word: It is wrong for America to support any of these governments who wish to destroy Israel. We are spending billions on them, many of whom are terrorists. Your money and mine is going into the pockets of those who are killing innocent people. Who will be held accountable, especially since God blessed us with having a choice in our leaders? This is only one example of our need for repentance.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A Personal Note . . . and a thank you!

Dear Friends,

I want to thank the MANY of you who have called, written and sent us email messages this week, asking if we survived that earthquake intact, and if we are now prepared for the oncoming hurricane.

What a week this has been!

Yes, after that quake, we are all safe and sound and no one among our team was injured in any way.

Along with you, we now await the impact of Hurricane Irene, whom the forecasters here in Washington, D.C. state will arrive tomorrow evening as a tropical storm.

The good news is that the stores out there are jammed tonight, with shoppers grabbing supplies for expected power outages. Praise God that these folks are taking the warnings seriously!

But as we write this brief message to you tonight, the truly GOOD NEWS is that EVERYONE around here seems to realize that "something is up" and that, as we stand in between an earthquake and a hurricane, it is time to take stock.

We pray that, for the East Coast, this may be the hour we have all been waiting for: when men's hearts are turned to look beyond themselves for an answer to our desperate state. May we all be ready to give these panic- stricken citizens the answer they seek: salvation through the Blood of Messiah and the true peace that He will bring into our hearts.

And so, in closing, I would invite all of you to join me in prayer tonight that God would meet these lost souls, right where they are, and that He would use these "circumstances of nature" to transform a nation.

"Can a nation be saved in a day?"

The answer is: YES!

The Good News Corner:

Good News for Jerry Buell

Monday I told you about Jerry Buell, a "teacher of the year" in Mount Dora, Florida, who was suspended from his job due to his support for traditional marriage. I'm pleased to report that the local school board has voted to reinstate Buell, finding that he did not violate the code of ethics.

However, at least one media report indicates that Buell is still under investigation. The superintendent of schools gave Buell "a list of directives he needs to follow," and officials are reportedly combing through school web pages and his class syllabus. All because he dared to express his opinion on marriage. Welcome to the brave new world of left-wing "tolerance." (Gary Bauer)

- We want to thank all of our prayer partners for lifting up int\ercession on behalf of Jerry Buell, the former Teacher of the Year. His reinstatement is clearly an answer to prayer!

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)
