Focus on Israel

1. Netanyahu in Moscow tells Putin Israel will continue hitting Iran in Syria - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Russian President Vladimir Putin that Israel will continue to take action against Iran in Syria, in the first significant meeting between the two since a major spat developed over a downed spy plane last year.

"The greatest threat to stability and security in the region comes from Iran and its proxies," Netanyahu said. "We are determined to continue our aggressive activity against Iran, which calls for our destruction, and against its attempts to establish itself militarily in Syria."

Israel and Russia have been at odds since September, when Syrian air defenses shot down a Russian reconnaissance plane while aiming at an Israeli jet that was targeting an alleged Iranian installation. The incident, which Moscow blamed Israel for, threatened to hamper Israel's air campaign against Iranian entrenchment in Syria.

2. Abbas spokesman: He's ready for meeting with Netanyahu - Israel National News

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said on Wednesday that Abbas is ready for a three-way meeting with Israel in Moscow if Russian President Vladimir Putin calls for one, reports the PA official news agency Wafa.

Abu Rudeineh was responding to statements by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who said on the eve of his trip to Moscow and meeting with Putin that he is ready for a meeting if there is a Palestinian leader to meet with.

"This is not true at all. President Putin had previously arranged a meeting with Netanyahu in Moscow and the president has agreed to attend but Netanyahu evaded it," claimed the spokesman.

Abbas, continued Abu Rudeineh, "is always ready to accept President Putin's call for such a meeting at any time with the current premier or any other future Israeli prime minister who will assume that post after the elections in order to achieve the just and lasting peace."

Putin has in the past expressed a desire to host an Israeli-Palestinian Arab summit to revive the talks but nothing has materialized yet in this regard.

3. Israeli Air Force Strikes Hamas In Southern Gaza- IDF - Jerusalem Post

The Israeli Air Force attacked Hamas posts in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

Hamas evacuated its outposts according to a report by Arab media sources.

"The IDF views with great severity any attempt to harm Israeli citizens and will continue to act vigorously against these incidents," the IDF said after the attack. "The Hamas terrorist organization bears responsibility for everything that is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip that are consequences of terrorist activities originating in the Gaza Strip."

4. AG set to announce recommendations in Netanyahu graft probes - YNET News

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit will on Thursday release his recommendations on indictments for the corruption investigations of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's evening news programs reported Wednesday.

The prime minister is being investigated in three separate cases: Case 1000 concerns illicit gifts Netanyahu allegedly received from business moguls Arnon Milchan and James Packer.

Case 2000 concerns alleged discussions Netanyahu and Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Arnon Mozes had over a quid pro quo of positive media for the prime minister in return for Netanyahu weakening Yedioth's main rival newspaper Israel Hayom.

Case 4000 involves an alleged plan to ease regulations for telecommunications mogul and Bezeq chief Shaul Elovitch in return for positive coverage on his Walla! news website.

5. Bennett calls on Trump to reveal peace plan before election - Israel Hayom

Education Minister Naftali Bennett called on U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday to reveal his much-anticipated "deal of the century" for Middle East peace before the upcoming Israeli election, scheduled for April 9.

Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner said this week that his plan will address all "final status" issues, including borders, and require compromises by all sides.

He made no mention of establishing a Palestinian state and said the plan would focus heavily on offering economic "opportunities" to the Palestinians.

The Daily Brief

1. BREAKING - Trump wasn't prepared to lift US sanctions on North Korea leading to summit's abrupt end: 'Sometimes you have to walk' - Fox News

President Donald Trump on Thursday told reporters that North Korea wanted the U.S. to lift all the sanctions placed on the Hermit Kingdom but he was unwilling to do that causing an abrupt ending to the summit. Trump, speaking in Hanoi, Vietnam, said the U.S. asked Kim Jong Un to do more regarding his intentions to denuclearize and "he was unprepared to do that." "Sometimes you have to walk," Trump said.

The second face-to-face meeting between Trump and Kim wrapped up significantly earlier than expected, and the White House announced ahead of the news conference that no agreement had been reached between the two leaders and a planned signing ceremony was scrubbed.

"No agreement was reached at this time, but their respective teams look forward to meeting in the future," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. Regardless, Sanders described the meetings between Trump and Kim as "very good and constructive." (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for the courage our President has shown this morning by cutting this meeting short, because no deal is better than a bad deal. We ask Your continued wisdom would rest upon President Trump in all matters related to this situation in North Korea.

- "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." (Jeremiah 29:11-12)

2. Trump Frees American Imprisoned in Yemen - Free Beacon

The White House announced on Monday that an American citizen who had been held hostage in Yemen for the past 18 months has been successfully "recovered and reunited" with his family. Danny Burch, a U.S. citizen, had been imprisoned in war torn Yemen for the past year and a half. His release marks the 20th American rescued from abroad by the Trump administration.

The UAE is believed to have played a critical role in negotiating Burch's release, as well as the release of other Americans held captive in the Middle East. "We work every day to bring Americans home," Trump said. "We maintain constant and intensive diplomatic, intelligence, and law enforcement cooperation within the United States Government and with our foreign partners.

Recovering American hostages is a priority of my administration, and with Danny's release, we have now secured freedom for 20 American captives since my election victory. We will not rest as we continue our work to bring the remaining American hostages back home." (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for Danny Burch's release and pray other American captives around the world will be brought home.

- For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven the Lord viewed the earth, to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to release those appointed to death. (Psalm 102:19-20)

3. 9th Circuit gets another Trump-picked judge, after White House bypasses consultation with Dems - Fox News

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed President Trump's nominee to be a judge on the liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in a party-line vote -- and, in a historic snub, the White House ignored the input of the judge's two Democratic home-state senators in the process.

The new 9th Circuit judge, Seattle attorney Eric Miller, was confirmed 53-46. Miller was one of the 51 federal judicial nominees left over from the previous Congress whom the White House re-nominated last month. Miller is the fifth former clerk to Associate Justice Clarence Thomas to be nominated by Trump to a federal appellate court, including embattled D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals nominee Neomi Rao.

The Sacramento Bee reported last year that White House officials had been negotiating with California Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris about 9th Circuit appointments, but the dialogue collapsed, and the White House proceeded to announce three nominees over their objections. Those nominees -- Patrick Bumatay, Daniel Collins and Kenneth Kiyul Lee (all from the Golden State, and reportedly all members of the conservative Federalist Society) -- have yet to be confirmed. (Read more)

- Father, thank You for the appointment of Judge Miller. We pray he will influence his 9th Circuit colleagues to uphold the Constitution of the United States. We lift up our courts and pray every open judicial seat will be filled with those who adjudicate cases fairly and lawfully.

- You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, but you are to judge your neighbor fairly. (Leviticus 19:15)

4. Resolution Blocking Trump's Emergency Declaration Moves to Senate, Where Outcome Is Uncertain, McConnell Says - CNS News

A one-page resolution blocking President Trump's national emergency declaration now goes to the Senate. On Tuesday, the Democrat-led House passed the measure on a 245-182 vote. Thirteen Republicans joined all Democrats in voting to block Trump's declaration that the situation at the Southwest border constitutes a national emergency.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told a news conference on Tuesday that "it would be reasonable to assume" that the resolution will come up for a vote "before the next Senate recess period." McConnell said Senate Republicans are now weighing whether the president's emergency declaration is legal.

One thing that's not in debate in our conference is--we really do think there's a crisis at the border. It doesn't seem to be any difference of opinion about that. There are different points of view about how to address that, and all of that will be dealt with publicly on the floor before we have the vote. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the Senate will not join the House in rebuking President Trump's emergency declaration. Help President Trump have every tool he needs to improve the situation on our southern border.

- You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:36)

5. Tlaib, Omar become first reps to sign 'Pledge to Impeach' Trump - The Hill

Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar (Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) have signed onto a "Pledge to Impeach" President Trump, aides to the lawmakers confirmed Tuesday. The advocacy group By the People is asking members of Congress to back impeachment efforts. Both congresswomen appear in footage shared by By the People in which they can be seen signing the pledge.

"This is not an issue of Republicans vs. Democrats," Alexandra Flores-Quilty, a spokeswoman for By the People said in a statement. "It's about checking the flagrant abuse of presidential power from a white supremacist who is profiting off of the presidential office, abusing his powers, and undermining our democracy and our Constitution."

Tlaib called to impeach Trump on her first day in Congress in an op-ed last month in the Detroit Free Press. Top Democratic leaders have said they are waiting to see the conclusion of Mueller's Russia investigation before they examine impeachment proceedings. (Read more)

- Father, we lift up Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib to You and pray, first of all, that they would come to know the saving power of Jesus and the reality of Your Kingdom. Forgive them for empowering those who wish to see our country divided. We also ask You, Lord, to remove them if they remain unrepentant and in rebellion to authority.

- Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. (Hosea 6:1)

6. DOJ Fines Virginia Firm for Hiring Foreigners over Qualified Americans - Breitbart

The Justice Department announced this week it will fine CFA Institute (CFAI) more than $320,000 for choosing to discriminate against qualified American workers by specifically hiring foreign workers imported through the H-1B visa program.

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and are allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements.

Between November 2016 and January 2018, the Virginia firm allocated annual exam-grading job positions to H-1B visa foreign workers before even recruiting qualified American professionals. "The Civil Rights Division works diligently to stop employers from unlawfully denying employment opportunities to qualified and available U.S. workers," Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Civil Rights Division said in a statement. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for the Trump administration's attention to this issue that has displaced and financially ruined many middle class families. We pray this case will be a warning heeded by other employers to end this practice.

- Employers, treat your workers with equality and justice as you know that you also have a Lord and Master in heaven who is watching you. (Colossians 4:1, TPT)

7. Democrats push to regulate voting rules in 11 states under new Voting Rights Act - Washington Examiner

House Democrats on Tuesday introduced legislation to require 11 states and dozens of counties with recent histories of voter discrimination to receive approval from the federal government before making any changes to their election laws.

The Voting Rights Advancement Act is a move to repair the Voting Rights Act of 1965, part of which was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2013. That decision outraged Democrats who said the court essentially gutted a key provision of the law that was meant to correct decades of discriminatory treatment of black voters.

The 11 states that are expected to be affected under the new VRAA are Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. The new list is slightly shorter than the one had the bill become law last year when 13 states were predicted to be covered. The two states no longer covered under the new bill are Arizona and Arkansas. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the new Voting Rights Act will not succeed in either chamber of Congress.

- The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile. (Psalm 94:11)

8. The Democrats' 2020 Census Goal: Turn Purple States Irreversibly Blue - American Thinker

Later this year, the U.S. Supreme Court is going to decide on the constitutionality of President Trump's request that a citizenship question be placed in the 2020 U.S. Census.

States' electoral votes, as well as future federal funding, are determined by their population totals. Having illegals and non-citizens counted in our Census means that swing states' electoral votes will increase, as they did for several swing states between the 2000 and 2010 Censuses.

Textually, the Constitution is somewhat ambiguous regarding the citizenship question. The question that will likely sway a majority of justices is this: did our Founders want illegals and non-citizens determining electoral votes, federal funding, and congressional apportioning? (Read more)

- Father, we pray the 2020 Census will be an accurate count of U.S. Citizens for the apportionment of representation in Congress and state legislatures.

- You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 5:15)

9. Facebook Whistleblower: Staff 'Deboost' Unwanted Content - and I Saw Same Code Used on Conservatives - Breitbart

Recent Facebook insider leaks released by Project Veritas reveal that the social media giant's demoting of conservative content isn't just done by human moderators, it's built right into the code of the website as a technical action called "deboosting."

Project Veritas latest bombshell report reveals inside info from Facebook. One of the most shocking revelations from the report is that Mark Zuckerberg's suppression of conservative content on the platform isn't just the result of heavy-handed moderation by human employees, but is actually built right into the code of the site.

The documents revealed a routine suppression of the distribution of conservative Facebook pages. The technical action she repeatedly saw, and for which Project Veritas was provided documentation, was labeled ActionDeboostLiveDistribution. Said the insider, "I would see [this term] appear on several different conservative pages. I first noticed it with an account that I can't remember, but I remember once I started looking at it, I also saw it on Mike Cernovich's page, saw it on Steven Crowder's page, as well as the Daily Caller's page." (Read more)

- Father, thank You for revealing Facebook's censorship. We pray this exposure will provide an opening for other platforms that do not censor conservative content.

- " . . . the sins of Ephraim are exposed and the crimes of Samaria revealed."
(Hosea 7:1b)

10. Military spokesman: Pakistan does not want to go 'towards war' with India - Al Arabiya

Pakistan does "not want to go towards war" with India, Major General Asif Ghafoor told a press conference in the garrison city of Rawalpindi Wednesday, hours after Islamabad said it shot down two Indian warplanes in its airspace, igniting fears of an all-out conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbors. He added that two Indian pilots had been captured, with one in custody and one in hospital.

Meanwhile, Pakistan also closed its airspace on Wednesday, the Civil Aviation Authority and the military said, as fears of an all-out conflict spiked. Earlier, Pakistan had shot down two Indian Air Force planes in its airspace in Kashmir on Wednesday, which flew across the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border in disputed Kashmir.

The incident is the latest in a dangerous sequence of events between the two countries, whose ties have been under intense strain since a February 14 suicide bombing in Indian Kashmir that killed 40 troops. (Read more)

- Father, we continue to pray for the de-escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan. We agree with this military commander, that India and Pakistan will not go towards war.

- So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, nor between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brothers." (Genesis 13:8)

House witch-hunt begins

The newly-elected Democratic Party controlled House of Representatives is rolling out their first public testimony with the ostensible intent to reveal the "truth" about President Donald Trump. Everyone knows that the goal, however, is to remove the President, as has been the Party's intent since before he was sworn into office. Giving it their best shot, Trump's former lawyer and "fixer" Michael Cohen is taking the stand before the Committee on Oversight and Reform. His prepared testimony has been released to the public. It reads like a Democratic campaign commercial, attacking Trump with perceptions, hearsay, and the revelation of no new details, but repackaging them for greater impact.

Cohen begins his prepared testimony by stating: "I am ashamed that I chose to take part in concealing Mr. Trump's illicit acts rather than listening to my own conscience. I am ashamed because I know what Mr. Trump is. He is a racist. He is a conman. He is a cheat. He was a presidential candidate who knew that Roger Stone was talking with Julian Assange about a WikiLeaks drop of Democratic National Committee emails. I will explain each in a few moments. I am providing the Committee today with several documents. These include: A copy of a check Mr. Trump wrote from his personal bank account - after he became president - to reimburse me for the hush money payments I made to cover up his affair with an adult film star and prevent damage to his campaign;

"Copies of financial statements for 2011 - 2013 that he gave to such institutions as Deutsche Bank; A copy of an article with Mr. Trump's handwriting on it that reported on the auction of a portrait of himself - he arranged for the bidder ahead of time and then reimbursed the bidder from the account of his non-profit charitable foundation, with the picture now hanging in one of his country clubs; and Copies of letters I wrote at Mr. Trump's direction that threatened his high school, colleges, and the College Board not to release his grades or SAT scores. I hope my appearance here today, my guilty plea, and my work with law enforcement agencies are steps along a path of redemption that will restore faith in me and help this country understand our president better." Cohen goes on to give an "insiders' view of the details of each of the topics he lays out.

Certainly, the next few days of testimony and questioning will focus on all the things that the Democrats believe Trump did that were unethical or what they believe to be illegal. It will be amplified by the news media. Amidst all the grandstanding, there may be some truth. If what Cohen says is even partially true, it is damaging to Trump, but it is not anything we already didn't know. Underlying this circus show is the very fact that Trump was not the choice of the Democrats or the establishment Republicans, and they are using every means to remove him from office. Beware of what you read and hear for as written in Isaiah 59:14, "justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter." A little bit of truth makes a better lie and deception from an evil word tips the scales of justice.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Classic Hymns

O FOR A THOUSAND TONGUES TO SING

"I . . . heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands." (Revelation 5:11)

Lyrics

O for a thousand tongues to sing My great Redeemer's praise, The glories of my God and king, The triumphs of His grace!

My gracious master and my God, Assist me to proclaim, To spread through all the earth abroad The honors of Thy name.

Jesus! the name that charms our fears, That bids our sorrows cease; 'Tis music in the sinner's ears, 'Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.

He speaks, and, listening to His voice, New life the dead receive, The mournful, broken hearts rejoice, The humble poor believe.

Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb, Your loosened tongues employ; Ye blind, behold your Savior come, And leap, ye lame, for joy.

In Christ your head, you then shall know, Shall feel your sins forgiven; Anticipate your heaven below, And own that love is heaven.

Glory to God, and praise and love Be ever, ever given, By saints below and saints above, The church in earth and Heaven.

On this glad day the glorious sun Of righteousness arose; On my benighted soul He shone And filled it with repose.

Sudden expired the legal strife, 'Twas then I ceased to grieve; My second, real, living life I then began to live.

Then with my heart I first believed, Believed with faith divine, Power with the Holy Ghost received To call the Savior mine.

I felt my Lord's atoning blood Close to my soul applied; Me, me He loved, the Son of God, For me, for me He died!

I found and owned His promise true, Ascertained of my part, My pardon passed in heaven I knew When written on my heart.

Look unto Him, ye nations, own Your God, ye fallen race; Look, and be saved through faith alone, Be justified by grace.

See all your sins on Jesus laid: The Lamb of God was slain, His soul was once an offering made For every soul of man.

Awake from guilty nature's sleep, And Christ shall give you light, Cast all your sins into the deep, And wash the Æthiop white.

Harlots and publicans and thieves In holy triumph join! Saved is the sinner that believes From crimes as great as mine.

Murderers and all ye hellish crew, Ye sons of lust and pride, Believe the Savior died for you; For me the Savior died.

With me, your chief, ye then shall know, Shall feel your sins forgiven; Anticipate your heaven below, And own that love is heaven.

In California:

Flooded Russian River Keeps Rising After Torrential Rains;
Guerneville Isolated

GUERNEVILLE (CBS SF) - While torrential rains that have pounded the North Bay have subsided, both the Russian and Napa rivers have flooded, and the water continued to rise Wednesday morning.

Along the Russian River in Sonoma County, officials said the towns of Guerneville and Monte Rio were completely isolated, as all roads leading to the communities were flooded. As of 10 a.m., the river was at 43.25 feet, which is considered major flood stage.

The rapidly rising water forced the guests at the Farmhouse Inn in Forestville to evacuate. Stranded guests told KPIX about their struggle to get to safety. Guests were forced to leave the inn through a window and above a giant, newly-formed pond.

Nina Sheehan and her husband Patrick were in Sonoma County visiting one of their daughters. They had planned to head to San Francisco Wednesday anyway, but with danger from the rising Russian River increasing by the minute, they knew they had to leave sooner than planned.

"These things are fast changing and you do need to pay attention," said Nina Sheehan. "This is the third time we've been evacuated over the last three or four months in different parts of California, but that's life," added her husband Patrick.

All the guests at the Farmhouse Inn had to be evacuated.

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has declared a local emergency caused by heavy rain and flooding that forced evacuations from the Russian River area. The declaration asks Gov. Gavin Newsom to proclaim a state of emergency that would waive regulations that could hinder response and recovery efforts and provide assistance and relief programs for damage caused by this year's storms and flooding. (SanFrancisco.cbslocal.com) Read many more details, with photos included, here.
Please note: sources tell us that the area that has been flooded includes the Bohemian Grove. (in the city of Monte Rio)

- Father God, as you look down from heaven upon this land, we know that You also see Your Blood covering this territory due to the many visits of many prayer teams to this site over the years. Abba Father God, we thank You that it is written that the Blood never loses its power.

Abba Father God, as these flood waters overwhelm this area, we thank You that, as we stand in the gap for the sins that have been committed here, You do forgive. Holy God, let these waters bring Your cleansing wave, to wash over this land, flush out all its iniquity, and make it whole again. We ask this in Your name, amen and amen.

"I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke." (Acts 2:19)

"God Moves Miraculously" Says First Inmate Released Under First Step Act

(Nashville, TN)-[CBN News] Do you believe in miracles? What about second chances? Matthew Charles certainly does. In less than one month, he went from a jail cell to the State of the Union Address.

That road to Washington, DC, however, includes a criminal past that started in Tennessee. "In 1995, I was arrested by the US Marshalls for selling crack cocaine in Clarksville, Tennessee and for several gun violations," Charles admitted to CBN News.

Under old laws, he was convicted and sentenced to 35 years. But before he boarded the bus to prison, something happened.

"It was in February of 1996 that I confessed Christ and received Him as my personal Lord and Savior," said Charles.

A friend leaving jail for prison gave Charles a few of his possessions. One of those items was a Bible.

"I just started getting into my comfort zone and my mind based on God and what I was reading and I just started crying like a baby," he recalled.

"I hadn't cried since I was a baby because I had a hard life and I was a hard man," he continued.

Charles Heads to Prison

But squaring things with the Lord didn't mean absolution from the Feds, so off to prison he went. Over the next 21 years, Charles became a law clerk, a mentor and led prison Bible studies. He also managed to keep himself from a single disciplinary infraction. (Breaking Christian News) Read more.
