Judge Kavanaugh

Kavanaugh Decision Delayed Another Week

Full Senate to Vote Whether to Confirm on Friday, Oct. 5th

Dear Friends,

This past week has been a true roller-coaster of emotions for all of us who have been praying over the decision in the Senate Judiciary Committee whether to confirm the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve as the next Justice on the United States Supreme Court.

And at the end, as we finished witnessing the testimony of both Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford on Thursday, we then awaited the vote on Friday. But God had another surprise for us!

And as you are all aware, due to some last-minute maneuvering by Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and the Committee, we learned that this "final vote" to confirm would now take place one week hence: on Friday, October 5th, while the FBI launches an investigation of the facts surrounding Dr. Ford's testimony.
And so, once again, we wait . . .
As we do so, please note below some of the key headlines covering much of this information from the past week, along with links for each one to the full article. And as we study or scan this material, let's all join in a prayer of agreement that "thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

U.S. Capitol Police have arrested 88 people for unlawfully demonstrating in Senate office buildings as they were protesting Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Police say 81 people were arrested Friday morning outside a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting in the Dirksen office building. Seven more were arrested Friday afternoon in a separate protest at the Hart building.

All were charged with unlawfully crowding or obstructing, then processed and released. (Read more)

11. Kavanaugh chokes up during Senate testimony describing how his 10-year-old daughter wanted to pray for his accuser Christine Blasey Ford - Business Insider

Brett Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court nominee, choked up during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday as he delivered a fiery defense against allegations of sexual misconduct.

His voice broke as he described how his 10-year-old daughter had suggested praying for Christine Blasey Ford . . .

"Liza, all of 10 years old, said to Ashley [his wife], 'We should pray for the woman,'" he said. "That's a lot of wisdom from a 10-year-old." (Read more)

- Father God, when we heard of this story, we wept with Bret Kavanaugh. Yes, Lord! What wisdom we see from a child of only ten years of age! May we all follow her lead, and may we, too, pray for those who despitefully use us, in Your Name, amen.

- "And a little child shall lead them." (Isaiah 11:6)

Melania Trump to Visit Africa

First Lady Melania Trump Announces Planned Stops During Visit to Africa

Will Visit Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and Malawi

In remarks delivered today during a reception she hosted for delegates to the 73rd Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), First Lady Melania Trump announced the stops she will make during her upcoming visit to Africa.

This will be the First Lady's first major solo international trip. Mrs. Trump will travel the first week of October to Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, and Egypt.

Since launching her Be Best campaign in May, Mrs. Trump has had the opportunity to meet with children all over the world, promoting successful organizations and programs that share her goal as First Lady of the United States-supporting and helping children.

"Since becoming First Lady, I have had the privilege of speaking with many of the spouses of world leaders," said First Lady Melania Trump. "Our discussions are always united by the universal desire to provide children with the support and tools necessary to grow up happy, healthy, and responsible adults. I am thrilled to be working with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on what I know will be a meaningful trip."
The First Lady's Office is working closely with USAID to plan the visits on her upcoming trip. During the trip, Mrs. Trump will learn more about the United States role in providing assistance to help countries become self-sufficient. Her trip will focus on maternal and newborn care in hospitals, education for children, the deep culture and history woven into each African country, and how the United States is supporting each country on its journey to self-reliance.
(Source: White House Press Release; Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018)
- Father, we do lift up our precious First Lady in prayer as she prepares to visit these four nations next week on her own. Lord God, we ask You to be with her, every step of the way, and for Your holy angels to guard her every step, too.

Father God, as Melania Trump reaches out to the wives of these world leaders, we ask that a bond of friendship be forged among them that will last for years to come. We thank You that each of these women do have a heart to bless our children, and to do all they can to help these young ones find happy and fulfilling lives as adults. Amen and amen.

- " . . . if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

Election Issue: The Border Wall and Immigration

Election Issue: Week Eight

The Border Wall and Immigration

"The simple truth is that we have lost control of our own borders, and no nation can do that and survive." - President Ronald Reagan

"When Mexico sends their people, they are not sending their best. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with them. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime." - President Donald Trump

The Challenge

The issues of the Border Wall and Immigration are so tightly woven together that we will offer our prayers of repentance this week for both topics at once.

According to a recent report from The Hill, progress on building the wall has been slow, and now funding for this program in our national budget has been delayed until December. In addition, Immigration Impact reports that "Roughly, one-fourth of the House seats are too close to call at this time, and immigration is proving to be a major issue in most of these races."

Regarding "instant entitlement," Numbers USA summarizes this issue for us: "It's Time to Abolish Automatic Birthright Citizenship for Illegal Aliens! Current law works like this: Enter illegally. Have a baby. Baby is an instant citizen. Parents almost guaranteed permanent residency!" You can go to their website to learn more about the issue of "Chain migration" by going here.
In addition to this system of "automatic citizenship," illegal aliens are bringing with them crime, radical Islamic terrorist organizations, diseases, illegal voters, and a huge economic cost to our nation. And finally, a recent study done by MIT shows that "The Number Of Illegal Immigrants Could Be Double Previous Estimates". (For details, go here.)

As President Reagan has stated, it is time to control our borders, and as President Trump has said, it is time to build a wall on our southern border.

What does Scripture Teach Us about this Topic?

We are to be "given to hospitality." (Romans 12:13). One author claims that "hospitable" (Titus 1:8) actually means a "lover of strangers." And we are told not to forget to entertain strangers; they may be angels. (Hebrews 13:2).

But do we then simply open all borders? Some who would follow a social gospel would say "yes." However, the Lord places us in nations. He has determined our preappointed times and the boundaries of our dwellings. (Acts 17:26).

And we are to be subject to the governing authorities who are appointed by God. (Romans 13: 1). As Christians we are called to do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10)

Immigration laws and borders thus are needed to maintain order. To seek open borders is a concept birthed from the spirit of rebellion.

May we repent for not seeking His Wisdom on immigration to be implemented by His authorities in this nation.

A Prayer of REPENTANCE

Father God,

We repent for our tendency to substitute a "social gospel" (caring for all . . . no matter what) for the TRUE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ: that we are called to preach Your love and forgiveness to all who would hear this Good News.

We repent that we have let down the borders of our own cities by embracing the rule of "sanctuary cities" in our midst. Forgive us, O Lord, for our confusion, and teach us Your ways. In Your name we pray, amen.

A Prayer of FORGIVENESS

Father,

We recognize that many of our problems with the issue of immigration stems from an agenda set in place by operatives both outside our nation and within, who wish to destroy us by implementing policies that are detrimental to our national well being. We ask You to please forgive these men and women, according to Luke 23:34, for they know not what they do.

We also ask You to forgive the immigrants who have crossed our borders illegally, and with an intent to harm us. As You forgave the thief on the Cross, would You please extend Your mercy to each one, humble them, and cause them to know You as our Savior and our Lord, amen.

A Prayer of THANKSGIVING

We thank You, Father, that when we pray, You do hear and You do answer, because it is written, in Proverbs 15:29, that "The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous." Amen.

A Prayer of HEALING FOR OUR LAND

"But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings." (Malachi 4:1a)

Act for America, led by Brigitte Gabriel, is currently running a campaign to support President Trump in his efforts to BUILD THE WALL. To learn how you can join their campaign, please go here.

America torn apart

Irrespective of how the vote goes for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the spectacle of what has transpired is a travesty. The left leaning UK Daily Mail posted a headline, "America tears itself apart." It isn't America tearing herself apart. It is the Democratic Party tearing America apart. The bottom line is that there are ways to have civil discourse to solve problems or reach conclusions without destroying lives. In this case, both Kavanaugh and his accuser are victims of a power hungry political machine that is seeking to overthrow a duly elected government by using any means possible, even to the ruination of private lives and families. The lack of respect and civility was disgusting to watch.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) summed it up. "(To Feinstein) What you want to do is destroy this guy's life; hold this seat open; and hope you win in 2020. (Pointing to Feinstein) You said that, not me. (to Kavanaugh) You've got nothing to apologize for . . . This is the most unethical sham since I've been in politics. (to Feinstein) And if you really have wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn't have done what you did to this guy . . . (to Kavanaugh) I cannot imagine what you and your family have gone through. (to Feinstein) Boy, y'all really want power. I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham." In short, these allegations could have been handled without the political firestorm if those involved were sincere about the truth and concerned about the accuser.

At the end of the day, the Democrats, with the left-leaning news media amplifying their loathing, likely stirred their base, emotionally manipulated the uninformed voter and blind follower, and further divided the homeland. They were pictured laughing it up with each other before the hearing. To underscore the insincerity of their over-the-top circus, not 30 minutes into the hearing Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) sent a fundraising email asking for donations from those who think there should be no Supreme Court justices who have "credible sexual misconduct allegations" against them. Senators Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) also used the hearings to try to raise money for their reelection campaigns. Kavanaugh and his accuser are but disposable pawns in a death struggle about political power over interpreting laws.

Since the 2016 presidential election, the Democratic Party has been throwing a temper tantrum. It was unable to complete the socialist revolution that began to solidify a decade ago. It has been relentless with incitement to violence, obstruction, and just down-right mean-spiritedness. Decent people should reject this behavior and demand reform of this political atmosphere. Americans ought not treat one another the way we have seen over the past two years. Jesus said in Matthew 7:12, "Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them." It's the Golden Rule--very tarnished today because wickedness has prospered, and the love of many has waxed cold.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Dutch Sheets Issues Urgent Intercession Alert as 'Extraordinary' Spiritual Warfare Rages

Dutch Sheets called out the extraordinary spiritual warfare surrounding the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings.

"Never have I been more convinced that a war of historical proportions is underway for the soul of our nation," Sheets says in a new video. "A war that will have worldwide implications. Like Israel, America's role on the earth is extremely significant."

Sheets says he attended Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings last week with 50-60 other intercessors who were praying for God's will.

"The level of deceit, lies, slander and arrogant pride was shocking," Sheets says.

A note to CHPP intercessors:

We ask you to please bring this video to your own pastor, that we all might wake up to the hour we are in . . . the danger that faces us of almost losing our nation ., . . and what we can do in response. Thank you.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. At UN, Netanyahu reveals Iranian nuclear warehouse, urges IAEA to go inspect it

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday revealed what he said was a previously unknown Iranian nuclear site, saying it could contain up to 300 tons of nuclear material, and accused the International Atomic Energy Agency of failing to investigate findings that he presented earlier this year about Iran's nuclear program.

Speaking to the United Nations General Assembly (full text here), Netanyahu also revealed what he said were Hezbollah precision missile sites hidden in Beirut, warned that Israel would act against Iran "whenever and wherever," praised US President Donald Trump for defunding the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, and attacked the Palestinian Authority for paying monthly salaries to convicted terrorists.

The prime minister said the IAEA, the UN's nuclear agency, had failed to take any action after he revealed in April a nuclear archive that Israeli spies managed to spirit out of Iran, and so he was now revealing what he said was a "secret atomic warehouse" in the Turquzabad district of Tehran, a few miles from the archive. President Eisenhower's Inaugural Prayer

Almighty God,

As we stand here, at this moment, my associates in the Executive Branch of government join me in beseeching that Thou will make full and complete our dedication to the service of the people in this throng and their fellow citizens everywhere.

Give us, we pray, the power to discern clearly right from wrong and allow all our words and actions to be governed thereby and by the laws of this land.

Especially we pray that our concern shall be for all the people, regardless of station, race or calling. May cooperation be permitted and be the mutual aim of those who hold to differing political beliefs, so that all may work for the good of our beloved country and for Thy glory. Amen.
