Radical Islam has the power to seduce young people who are spiritually unsatisfied, according to a former radical who now cooperates with the FBI and writes on terrorism. Daveed Gartenstein-Ross chronicles the "process of radicalization" in a new book, "My Year Inside Radical Islam." He said he's concerned that too few Americans fully grasp the ideological component of the struggle against terrorism in the world today.
• Pray for American youth that Jesus meets them face to face! The doses of political correctness, tolerance, and revised history have made them ripe and vulnerable for the "new" experiment of Islam, little lambs unaware of the danger of the enemy because they do not know the Bible and have found so much of church unsatisfying. • "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)
2. Taliban attack U.S. Base in Afghanistan During Cheney Trip - BBC
At least nine people have died in a suicide bombing at the main US base in Afghanistan during US Vice- President Dick Cheney's stay, US officials say. Mr Cheney, who was unharmed, was staying at the Bagram base near Kabul. The Taliban said they carried out the attack and that the attacker was trying to get to Mr Cheney, who was on an unannounced visit to the region.
• Praise the Lord that VP Cheney was safely protected from this assassination plot and able to carry on with the business of the President in Afghanistan. Pray for comfort of the families of those killed in this suicide attack. We must be ever vigil in our prayers for the safety of our leaders not only abroad but also in the US. • "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O Most High." (Psalm 92:1)
3. Britain To Send 1,400 Additional Troops And Equipment To Afghanistan - Financial Times
Britain will send 1,400 more troops into Afghanistan, along with aircraft, to bolster the fight against the Taliban in the south of the country, Des Browne, defence secretary, told parliament yesterday. This will take the number of UK troops taking part in Nato's Afghanistan mission to 7,700, significantly more than in Iraq. The UK is also sending four more Sea King helicopters, four Harrier GR9 aircraft, and another Hercules C-130 transport aircraft.
• Praise the Lord for this encouraging news from our British allies; Blair is removing troops from Iraq but sending more to Afghanistan, where they seem to be having success working with NATO. Pray that France and Germany would also join the conflict in Afghanistan against the Taliban and radical Islam. Pray that neither France nor Germany would allow bullying from their large Moslim populations. • "Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10)
4. Iraqi Cabinet Approves Oil Legislation - Los Angeles Times
After months of negotiations over the post-war spoils of Iraq's most valuable natural resource, the government announced Monday night that it had approved a draft plan to ramp up oil production and share the proceeds. In Washington, White House spokesman Tony Snow called a new oil law the '"key lynchpin" in Iraq's recovery because it gives "everybody a shared economic interest in working together." The deal must yet be approved by the Iraqi Parliament.
• Offer praise to the Lord for this news, which many are calling a "breakthrough" for the people of Iraq. Now that all factions are represented in the new Parliament, this deal is predicted to be passed easily by ALL the people. Praise God! • "The Lord is our Judge; the Lord is our Law-giver; the Lord is our King; and He will save us." (Isaiah 33:22)
5. Federal Official Discusses Currency Shipments To Iraq - New York Times
The currency that was shipped into Iraq in the days after the fall of Saddam Hussein's government was part of a successful financial operation that had been carefully planned months before the invasion. Its aims were to prevent a financial collapse in Iraq, put the financial system on a firm footing and pave the way for a new Iraqi currency. Contrary to the criticism that such currency shipments were ill advised or poorly monitored, this financial plan was carried out with precision and was a complete success. The plan, which had two stages, was designed to work for Iraq's cash economy, in which checks or electronic funds transfers were virtually unknown and shipments of tons of cash were commonplace.
• As Congress continues hearings into the financial dealings of the reconstruction of Iraq under the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), pray that all the facts would come to light, as above, so that the TRUTH about the decisions made by the U.S. government at that time would be clearly revealed. Often, one can take a "snippet" of information and lose the big picture. Offer praise for the wisdom and the discretion that was exhibited by President Bush, CPA Director J.Paul Bremer III, and all others who were involved in making policy during Iraq's time of transition from the "old" under the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, to the "new" under a burgeoning, democracy. • " . . . give respect and honor to those who are in authority." (Romans 13:7 NLT)
6. Greenspan Warns of Likely U.S. Recession - Newsmax
Former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan warned Monday that the American economy might slip into recession by year's end. He said the U.S. economy has been expanding since 2001 and that there are signs the current economic cycle is coming to an end.
• It has been reported that these remarks of Greenspan today sparked the most significant loss on Wall Street in many years, the stock market falling more than 500 points. Is the American economy being corrected by God or being manipulated by man? The time of the great harvest of souls is upon us, and much money is needed to carry out this task for the Lord of the Harvest. Pray that the Lord protect the wealth of His saints and shift the wealth from the wicked to the righteous. • ". . . and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just." (Proverbs 13:22b)
7. Wall Street Slammed After China Stock Woes - AP
Stocks had their worst day since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks Tuesday, briefly hurtling the Dow Jones industrials down more than 500 points on a worldwide tide of concern that the U.S. and Chinese economies are stumbling and that share prices have become overinflated.
• ". . . and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just." (Proverbs 13:22b)
