"Praying for All in Authority"

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

"You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end." (Matthew 24:6)

The Daily Brief

1. Obama gets lecture on peace talks from Netanyahu in White House meeting - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with US President Barack Obama in the Oval Office on Monday, pushing back against pressure from the White House to swiftly cut a deal with the Palestinians as the president warned time was running out for peace. "Israel has been doing its part, and I regret to say that the Palestinians haven't," Netanyahu said to Obama, in front of the press. "The people of Israel know that it's the case."

- Father God in heaven, we praise Your Name that You stood by Prime Minister Netanyahu in speaking the truth and the truth is what Israel will uphold. They are strengthened by the arm of the God of Israel and are supported by the glorious ruler of the Universe. Thank You, God, that all may fear this glorious and fearful Name,THE LORD THY GOD. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "That you should enter into covenant with the Lord Your God, and into His oath, which the Lord your God makes with You this day. That He may establish You today for a people unto Himself, and that He may be unto You a God, as He has said unto You, and as He has sworn unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." (Deuteronomy 29:12-13)

2. Putin: Russia has right to use force in Ukraine - Times of Israel

Putin said Moscow reserves the right to use all means to protect Russians in Ukraine as US Secretary of State John Kerry was on his way to Kiev. Tensions remained high in the strategic Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea with troops loyal to Moscow firing warning shots to ward off protesting Ukrainian soldiers.

- Lord God, we pray for Your intervention to encircle the peninsula of Crimea and to disarm the Russians who are inflamed with a fighting spirit against the Ukrainians. We ask You to close out the powers of the shadow government so it will be impossible for them to start a war in the Ukraine. Protect this country by the powerful hand of God to hold off all avenues that would lead to a bloodbath in the Ukraine. This we ask of the Father in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly with strength for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the Lord do that which is good in His sight." (I Chronicles 19:12)

3. Ukraine's Yanukovych asked for troops, Russia tells UN - BBC

Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych asked Russia to send troops across the border to protect civilians, Moscow's UN envoy has claimed. Vitaly Churkin told a Security Council meeting Mr Yanukovych wrote to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday. Thousands of Russian troops have been pouring into Ukraine's Crimea region.

- Father God, let these words of an ousted president not be acted upon when his claims will only create a greater incitement to engage warfare. Bring forth God's will and speak to the Christian president and the church as a whole to unite together and pray for God's intervention and save their nation through the testimonies and prayers of the people who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and repentance of sins through the Blood of Jesus. In His precious Name we pray.

- "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew 24:14)

4. NSA slapped malware on 50,000+ networks, says report - Cnet

A new slide culled from the trove of documents leaked by Edward Snowden shows where the NSA placed malware on more than 50,000 computer networks worldwide, according to Dutch media outlet NRC. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask You to protect the life of this whistleblower for truth who has exposed the inner workings of the NSA for all the world to see. May justice be swift and sure against those perpetrators who have violated the privacy rights of citizens worlwide and have worked to disable cybersystems behind closed doors. We ask this in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him."
(Isaiah 30:18)

5. Obama 2015 budget seeks $60 billion tax credit expansion: White House - Reuters

President Barack Obama will strike a firmly populist tone in his 2015 budget plan on Tuesday, proposing to pay for an expansion of a popular tax credit for the working poor by eliminating tax breaks claimed by wealthy Americans.

- Father in heaven, we pray for Your perfect will to be done with this possible tax credit expansion. Should there be hidden motives that are currently not seen, we ask that the hidden be exposed, the trickery be made known. Block any proposed budget plan that would not be Your will for the people. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

- "God disappoints the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise and their intention." (Job 5:12)

6. Christian alternative to ObamaCare growing fast as deadline nears - Fox News

With just weeks left to sign up for insurance on HealthCare.gov, a growing number of people are opting to enroll in a Christian alternative to traditional health insurance. The nation's three largest ministries boast more than 242,000 members, spanning all 50 states, who agree to live so-called biblical lifestyles -- meaning regular church attendance; no drugs, tobacco, or sex outside of marriage; and limited alcohol consumption. This kind of healthier lifestyle helps keep monthly premiums lower than that of other health insurers for most members. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for moving upon these Christian people to act wisely by obeying the Word of God and staying with their current insurance companies. For it was Jesus who held ObamaCare in His hands and it began to disintegrate to sawdust falling through His fingers on the floor at His feet as He destroyed it. Thank the Lord. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.

"O Lord, You have destroyed them that speak leasing and falsehood: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man." (Psalm 5:6)
"And of Your mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict our souls." (Psalm 143:12)

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Lord, how my foes have increased! Many are the ones who rise up against me. Many are saying of my soul, there is no deliverance for him in God. Selah. But You, YHWH, are a shield for me; my glory, the One who lifts up my head." (Psalms 3:1-3)

1. With Putin making trouble, Obama goes easy on Netanyahu - Times of Israel

The Ukraine crisis changed everything. After the unusually harsh comments US President Barack Obama made in an interview with Jeffrey Goldberg last week -- it was published on Sunday -- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to receive another verbal lashing Monday in the Oval Office. But Obama's tone was surprisingly gentle.

2. Israel must make tough choices for peace, Obama says - Times of Israel

US President Barack Obama said Monday that tough decisions will have to be made as the deadline nears for completing a framework for peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

3. Obama to Israel -- Time Is Running Out - Bloomberg

When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits the White House tomorrow, President Barack Obama will tell him that his country could face a bleak future -- one of international isolation and demographic disaster -- if he refuses to endorse a U.S.-drafted framework agreement for peace with the Palestinians.

4. IAEA reports says Iran complying with Geneva agreement so far - ICEJ News

The UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) watchdog released a report on Monday saying Iran has reduced its stockpiles of 20% enriched uranium in line with the agreement reached in Geneva in November 2013 with the P5+1 nuclear powers (US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany.) "As of today, measures agreed under the Joint Plan of Action are being implemented as planned," said Yukiya Amano, director general of the IAEA. He added that Iran's actions have taken it to "the halfway mark" of the agreement. (Read more)

5. Report on construction in Israel comes as Netanyahu flies to Washington - ICEJ News

Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics released a report Monday which showed a rise of 123.7% in housing starts among Israeli communities in the West Bank. Although the report, which also included statistics for construction in the rest of the country, is routinely released at this time every year, its release caused a stir internationally. 6. Bad day for Moslem Brotherhood franchises - ICEJ News

Tuesday was a bad day for the Palestinian franchises of the Moslem Brotherhood. It started when a court in Egypt issued a countrywide ban on all activities of the Islamist terror militia Hamas. This follows multiple accusations that the Brotherhood franchise, which rules the Gaza Strip, is aiding Al-Qaida linked terrorist groups which have targeted government forces in the Sinai Peninsula and Cairo.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement, which is the Brotherhood franchise among Israeli Arabs, was sentenced to eight months in prison Tuesday for incitement to violence. The sentence was the result of a conviction in November, 2013 for a sermon he gave in 2007 in which he urged Israeli Arabs and Palestinians to engage in a violent insurrection against Israel.

The Daily Jot

Should Americans follow Putin's lead?

The New York Post reported that on February 22, the occupant of the Oval Office called Russian President Vladimir Putin "to get assurances that Moscow would back a hastily negotiated agreement on Ukraine's future." The US president spent about an hour on the phone lecturing Putin. McClatchy News Service reported on the same event, adding that the White House says the president also "congratulated Russia on its hosting of the Olympic games." Wow! Since then, Russia's military has taken over much of Ukraine. The White House has toe-drawn line after line in the sand warning Russia on military action. The US president has whined about Russia's actions, but as we say on the ranch, "Big hat, no cattle."

The White House action on Russia is no different than its approach toward the economy, Islamic aggression, law enforcement, healthcare, voting rights, immigration, and job creation. Ineptness and incompetence abound, steeped in a great deal of pride, arrogance, and naivete. He tells the news media, "What cannot be done is for Russia with impunity to put its soldiers on the ground and violate basic principles that are recognized around the world. Over time, this will be a costly proposition for Russia." Last week, a Russian spy ship slipped into Havana's harbor as part of Russia's strategy to increase its military projection in the Western hemisphere. White House response: We "recognize" their right to be there.
He spies on us. He compels the weak to become wards of his ever-expanding government. He golfs excessively and his wife pays thousands of dollars for dresses while 43 million people are on welfare and over 80 million have given up on finding a job. He won't enforce the laws on marriage, immigration or health care, but he expects us to abide by the laws, his executive orders, and the edicts of the unconstitutional police state agencies under his control. His fine words and public persona give the appearance that he has good game, but where is the substance? As Ephesians 5:6 says, "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience."

The Sadducees and Pharisees who were allowed by the Romans to rule over the Jews in the time of Christ were much the same as our current gaggle of elected and appointed officials. They were harsh on the followers of Christ. They beat the disciples, imprisoned them, stoned them--all for preaching Christ. Acts 5:29, Peter and the Apostles said, "We ought to obey God rather than men." Putin, being a chief bully himself, knows that the US president is also an empty bully. Putin knows that the US president will not do a thing to prevent Russia's military action. Evil advances so long as good allows it. Should Americans learn from Putin and take back our country? As in Matthew 11:12, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. The bully may whine and shout, but he wouldn't know what to do.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

THE MADISONIAN:

The Legislative Bulletin for Conservatives

Week of March 3 - 7, 2014

Fellow Conservative Patriots,

Congress is starting the week at a slow pace, which is a good thing. The GOP-controlled House will attempt, once again, to bring a flood insurance bill to the floor, which eliminates some much-needed reforms. They will also engage in another 'too clever by half' Obamacare show vote. The Senate will consider more radical judicial and executive nominees, including the nomination of a lawyer for a cop-killer who will receive one of the top positions in the Justice Department. Instead of retaliating by shutting down the Senate, some Republicans are helping Democrats pass another big government expansion of universal childcare coverage.

Obamacare -

Agenda

Today, the House will consider the Suspending the Individual Mandate Penalty Law Equals Fairness Act, HR 4118, sponsored by Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS). This bill will delay the penalty for individuals who fail to purchase health insurance in 2014 under the directive of Obamacare. Under current law, those who fail to purchase government-approved insurance this year will be subject to a fine of $95 or 1 percent of taxable income.

Conservative View

It is unclear as to what Republicans plan to accomplish with this vote. It is definitely important the we keep the focus on Obamacare, but absent any new consequential effort to fight the law, this bill will not advance our position. Republicans have already made it clear that they will not use "must pass" legislation to strike out against Obamacare - even for just a delay of the individual mandate. So what is the purpose of passing a standalone bill that only delays the individual mandate for one year?

There is something more subtle that is disconcerting about the strategy behind this bill. House Republicans have no interest in forcing a fight on must-pass legislation nor do they have the stomach to pass standalone bills that draw a sharp contrast on contentious issues, such as illegal immigration, religious liberty, and gay marriage. They don't want to address other conservative solutions, such as devolving transportation and education to the states or repealing the pernicious ethanol mandate, which raises the cost of food and fuel. They merely want to run out the clock and squander their time in the majority passing the most innocuous bills. A mere one-year delay of just one aspect of Obamacare seems to play into this wrongheaded strategy of "sit on the ball."

Childcare Subsidy Bill -

Agenda
On Thursday, the Senate plans to take up S. 1086, a bill that would expand yet another welfare program - Child Care and Development Block Grant Program (CCDBG). The omnibus bill that passed the Senate in January already increased spending for this program and this bill will further increase spending and reauthorizes the program until 2019. The bill passed out of the Senate HELP Committee last September on a voice vote, and is co-sponsored by three GOP senators - Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Lamar Alexander (R-TN), and Richard Burr (R-NC).

Conservative View We have seen the failures of welfare programs that seek universal taxpayer coverage for education, food, and healthcare. Recently, the federal government has ventured into childcare as well. There is simply no reason we should be expanding the federal role into child care, a venture that will allow the feds to choose which forms of daycare are preferable. Moreover, ultimately, the way to help the working-class poor is by reducing regulations that drive up the cost of food, fuel, and healthcare. They need a hand up, not a hand out.

Victory for German Homeschooling Family!

Family has been granted "indefinite deferred status" by DHS

Will be allowed to remain in the U.S. indefinitely

Only 24 hours after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case of a homeschooling family fighting deportation to Germany where it would face punishment for not enrolling in a public school, the federal bureaucracy blinked.

The Romeikes will be allowed to remain in the U.S. indefinitely, the Department of Homeland Security told the Home School Legal Defense Association, which has been defending the family in court.

Michael Farris, HSLDA's chairman, wrote that a DHS supervisor called a member of his legal team to announced that the Romeike family has been granted "indefinite deferred status."

It means the Romeikes can stay in the U.S. permanently, unless they are convicted of a crime.

Farris called it "an incredible victory that can only be credited to our Almighty God."

"We also want to thank those . . . who spoke up on this issue - including that long ago White House petition. We believe that the public outcry made this possible while God delivered the victory," he said.

"This is an amazing turnaround in 24 hours. Praise the Lord." (Read more)

Statement by FRC

Kentucky Attorney General Displays Disregard for Rule of Law

March 04, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway announced today that he would not appeal a ruling forcing the state to recognize out-of-state same-sex "marriages." Governor Steve Beshear is now left to defend the law and will turn to outside lawyers to pursue an appeal. In 2004, 75 percent of Kentucky voters adopted a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins released the following statement:

"Attorney General Jack Conway took an oath to uphold the constitution and the laws of Kentucky, not undermine them through indifference driven by his personal ideology. Unfortunately, the Kentucky attorney general is following the lead of the U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder, in showing contempt for the law and the citizens. Does Mr. Conway possess some mysterious knowledge and understanding that 75 percent of Kentucky voters who approved the marriage amendment don't have?

"If Attorney General Jack Conway and Eric Holder can pick and choose which laws to uphold, is it then time for the rest of us to pick and choose which laws we want follow? If the Left follows this argument to its logical conclusion, then what's to stop pro-life attorneys general from refusing to defend abortion policies? Or anti-gun laws? Or anything they find personally objectionable?" concluded Perkins.

Prayer for Ukraine

An Urgent Call to Prayer from the NRB (National Religious Broadcasters)
Please stop and pray TODAY at noon for peace in the Ukraine

Canada and USA have the 3rd and 4th largest Ukrainian populations in the world, outside of Ukraine and Russia (and next is Brazil) -- so many of our radio listeners and viewers are directly or indirectly affected by this conflict.

I'm requesting we get the word out asking Christians everywhere to pause or gather on Wednesday March 5th at 12 noon to pray for a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Ukraine.
Pray for Ukraine --

- that the evil powers of aggression and self-interest be restrained.
- that the leaders of Ukraine and Russia would restrain themselves from aggressive actions and decisions.
- that they would have humility and respect, and find grounds to compromise.

- for our Christian brothers and sisters
- for the church leaders
- for the missionaries

- for the vulnerable - especially children and the elderly.

- for Ukraine's economic crisis . . . bankers, business leaders, small business people -- the banks are limiting withdrawals, workers are not being paid, people lack cash . . . its a vicious cycle.

- for world leaders to act courageously, wisely, decisively.

. . . and just pray as the Holy Spirit guides you.

Thank you.

Man Survives being Buried Beneath 600 Pounds of Dirt;
Shouted Prayers during Ordeal

(Portland, OR)-Danny Russu, 21, an employee for Apollo Drain & Rooter Service, was replacing a sewer line when the dirt he was working in collapsed and buried him. Completely.

His co-workers were reportedly able to immediately remove enough dirt to allow Russu to breath. One of the men told KATU News that Russu is "a very religious guy, and he was shouting prayers," as they worked to free him.

"It was actually a very, very dangerous trench," one of the first emergency responders, told KOIN News of the 12-ft. deep hole. "If there was a significant collapse, he would have been in severe danger."

Incredibly, after being buried beneath 600 pounds of dirt for nearly 4 hours, Russo, was finally freed. Currently, he has been listed in serious condition at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital. (Breaking Christian News) Read more.

First Corvette pulled from Kentucky sinkhole
[UPDATE] Second rescued

(Commentary offered by Eric Teitelman, House of David Ministries)

I know this may appear as a strange and random incident, but the fact the sink hole occurred under the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky is seemingly prophetic. This car symbolizes the best that American manufacturing and engineering has produced over the past decades. And yet here we are today as a nation, declining in every aspect. So this sink hole is prophetically symbolic, and a warning of our continuing economic decline. With our attempts to strong arm Israel into an unholy division of God's land, we are likely to see the continual degrading of this once great nation.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
(Luke 11:25-28)
