1. 'On the Sidelines'? New Gas Attack Claims Test Obama's 'Red Line' - Fox News
Syrian activists accuse Assad regime of killing hundreds in poison gas attack, in latest test of the Obama administration's 'red line' - despite the violence, the top US military official reiterated in a letter to Congress that military action is not in the US interest.
Reuters reports upwards of 200 people have been killed, including women and children. The UK Independent puts the number of dead at 650 people. The Associated Press is reporting that as many as 1,100 people have been killed. The Assad regime has denied that any chemical weapons have been used.
> For more on this news, please see Joel Rosenberg's article, below.
- The situation in Syria continues to be more complicated by the day. At times, we know not how to pray, as we understand that the "rebels" are made up of al Qaeda and Moslem Brotherhood members, and are involved in the murder of Christians in that nation. Pray in the spirit over this report, and ask our Lord to grant His wisdom to the president and all of his advisers as they seek to know how to respond.
- "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)
2. Wildfires burning in 11 Western states - CBS News
First came the drought, then the summer heat -- the perfect formula for wildfires. And as of Monday night, there are 49 large fires burning in 11 western states.
- Ask our Lord to bring RAIN to these very dry areas, and to calm the winds so that the firefighters in these eleven states can begin to get these fires under control. Ask for supernatural strength, too, for those men and women who are battling all of these fires, as their energy has been taxed to the extreme by this crisis.
- "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:22)
3. Obama urges renewed push for Wall Street overhaul - AP Passage of a sweeping overhaul of Wall Street regulations in 2010 was a hallmark of President Barack Obama's first term. Three years later, amid delays and compromises that critics say have diluted its ambitious goals, the president is trying to rekindle the law's promise.
- We have received reports of a huge meeting that took place yesterday at the White House, including all the "captains" of finance in our nation. It seems that something is up, and there is now a sense of urgency to intercede over the economy in our nation. Once again, pray in the Spirit over this report. Only God knows what is now taking place behind closed doors. Amen.
- "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (Hebrews 4:13)
4. NSA surveillance covers 75 percent of U.S. Internet traffic - Reuters
The National Security Agency's surveillance network has the capacity to reach around 75 percent of all U.S. Internet communications in the hunt for foreign intelligence, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.
- Declare and decree that the NSA is under the authority of our Sovereign King. They may have the capability now to cover 75% of all internet traffic in the United States, but our Omniscient God knows all, and is looking down upon us in love. Thank Him for His protection that is resting upon us in these perilous times. Amen.
- "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight." (Hebrews 4:13)
5. Public School Promotes 5 Pillars of Islam - Fox News
Parents at a Wichita, Kan. elementary school were shocked to discover a giant wall display inside the building promoting the five pillars of Islam.
- Thank the Lord for the parents who discovered this travesty, and then reported it to others. As children all across the nation this month prepare to return to our schools, ask for a "watchman anointing" to descend upon each parent in each school, so that foreign elements not pollute our land and the minds of our children. Praise God for our Judeo-Christian heritage, and ask that this blessing continue to be taught to our children now, and always. Amen.
- "You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up." (Deut. 6:7)
"Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth." (Isaiah 21:6(
6. Some black clergy not comfortable with LGBT movement sharing mantle at civil rights march - Washington Post
Gay men and lesbians will be represented in the coalition of groups marching this weekend in commemoration of the 1963 March on Washington. But the question of whether gay equality is a "civil right" -- the way Martin Luther King Jr. spoke of rights denied to people on the basis of their skin color -- remains a matter of disagreement, particularly among black Christians.
- Praise the Lord that these men and women of color are "seeing through" the LGBT agenda and desiring to draw a line in the sand against their encroachment in this civil rights march. Pray that they will be shown favor by those in authority, and that their desire to see this element removed from this march will be honored.
- "When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Proverbs 16:7)
7. Egypt crackdown may not crush Brotherhood - Reuters
Until Monday night, Farid Ismail was one of the few Muslim Brotherhood leaders who still answered his phone, even when many of his associates had been arrested or gone underground.
- Pray that the new government in Egypt will leave no stone unturned until every vestige of the presence of the Moslem Brotherhood has been destroyed.
- "Just as the Lord had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord had commanded Moses." (Joshua 11:15)
8. Japan nuclear plant suffers worst radioactive water leak - CBC
The operator of Japan's tsunami-crippled nuclear power plant said Tuesday that about 270 tonnes of highly radioactive water have leaked from one of the hundreds of storage tanks there -- its worst leak yet from one of the vessels.
Fukushima apocalypse: Years of 'duct tape fixes' could result in 'millions of deaths' - RT
Even the tiniest mistake during an operation to extract over 1,300 fuel rods at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan could lead to a series of cascading failures with an apocalyptic outcome, fallout researcher Christina Consolo told RT.
- These two reports show us that it is clearly time to pray over the Fukushima nuclear facility again. Although the Word of God promises that there will be an apocalypse at the end of the age, we ask for only God's timing in a disaster of this size. By faith, apply the Blood of the Lamb over Fukushima and ask wisdom for those who are working there to contain this imminent disaster. Most importantly, please pray for the souls of the Japanese people. May each one find Christ as his or her own savior, while there is yet time.
- For Fukushima: "'Thus far you shall come, but no farther; And here shall your proud waves stop.' (Job 38:10)
For salvation for the lost in the nation of Japan: "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
9. Sun Fires Solar Storm Directly at Earth - Space.com
The sun unleashed a powerful storm early Tuesday morning (Aug. 20), sending an enormous cloud of superheated particles rocketing toward Earth. (Read more)
- Ask our Lord to place an angelic shield of protection over our planet, and that the damage suffered from this blow would be minimized. Pray for a miracle. Pray!
- "The Lord has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Mighty in strength, who perform His word,
Obeying the voice of His word!
21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,
You who serve Him, doing His will."

Christians in Nigeria React to Death of Boko Haram Leader - OsunDefender
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), yesterday said it would have been better for Shekau to be captured alive to face prosecution, instead of being killed.
When contacted on phone for his reaction to the death of the terrorist, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Northern Christian Association, Mr. Sunday Oibe, said if he had been captured alive, Nigerians would have asked him why he unleashed so much terror on innocent citizens, especially Christians.
In his words: "As Christians, we don't rejoice over the death of anyone. The Bible says God does not take delight in the death of a sinner, but wants him to repent. All I can say right now is that Shekau would have been captured alive to answer questions on his activities, so that the whole world would know why he embarked on such massive destruction of human lives and property."

The prophetic result of God's Laws forgotten
> > > It is interesting that the Spirit of the Most High God has prompted Bill Wilson to file this report on the same day we felt to "launch" the website for the Prayer of Repentance . . . providing a simple site whereby leaders in the Body of Christ can join together in a common act of repentance, based upon Nehemiah 9:38.
Clearly, God is speaking . . . may we all obey!
The Lord Jesus Christ spends Matthew Chapter 24 answering the question, "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world." He outlines what will happen in the times. In verse 12, he says, "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." A word study on "iniquity" indicates it means lawlessness, the end impact on law breaking; Its negative influence on a person's status before God. We have seen examples of late in this country where the breaking of God's laws have caused people to say and do things that they might not normally do. As George Washington said, divisions caused by party "tend to render alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal affection."
A few weeks ago, the country was ablaze fanned by the inflammatory words of the president, his attorney general, and false prophets and deceivers such as the "Reverands" Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They called the George Zimmerman verdict of self defense in the death of Trayvon Martin a race issue, a hate crime. Tax money was spent on the Justice Department stirring up emotions for a murder trial. Jackson, Sharpton and the occupant all poured gasoline on the flames of justice and stirred up our countrymen against one another. The Daily Jot took a great deal of heat by reporting what the court records said, rather than what these deceivers spewed.
Now comes the story about Chris Lane. Chris was an Australian who moved to the US to pursue his dream of playing baseball. He had a college scholarship, clean cut white guy, 22 years old, with his life in front of him. Many would have been proud to call him "son." But his life was snuffed out while he was on a run by three young black men who drove by and shot Lane because, as they said, they were "bored," killed him "for fun." When the police brought them in, one was dancing and laughing, according to the court. Interesting that the news media did not report the race of the three until many hours after the news broke and after they were arraigned in court.
The US State Department issued a statement: "The United States is deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of the death of an Australian citizen in Oklahoma. This is clearly a tragic death, and we extend our condolences to the family and the loved ones. We understand that local authorities are focused on bringing those responsible to justice. Clearly, we would support that." Nothing emotional, just deeply saddened. I have done several searches on this story to see if Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton had anything to say. Nothing. Same from the president. In fact, I have heard nothing from those readers who took me to task for "criticizing blacks too much." Leftists are already blaming the shooting on Oklahoma's liberal gun laws.
From Chris Lane to Trayvon Martin to hundreds of others every day, there is at least one thing in common: iniquity abounds. We are a nation that has put aside God's laws for our own interpretation of what is right and wrong, and as a prophetic result, the love we should share as fellow human beings, neighbors, and countrymen, has waxed cold. We can blame the races, but we are all part of God's human race. We can point fingers at the gangs or at guns or whatever, but until we decide as a society that it is God's laws that we should be teaching; until we decide that there is responsibility in parenting and mentoring; until we decide that Christian character counts; and make it a priority, love will continue to wax cold.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A DARK TURN IN DAMASCUS:
REPORTS OF 1,100 SYRIANS KILLED IN NEW CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACKS
By Joel C. Rosenberg
Six months after an alleged poison gas attack, UN chemical weapons inspectors have just arrived in Syria. Time magazine asks whether they are on a "fool's errand" -- too little, too late?
But now it appears they may have arrived just in time. There are widespread reports this morning of a much larger chemical weapons attack by the Assad government against rebel forces near Damascus.
Reuters reports upwards of 200 people have been killed, including women and children. The UK Independent puts the number of dead at 650 people. The Associated Press is reporting that as many as 1,100 people have been killed. The Assad regime has denied that any chemical weapons have been used.
In separate news -- yet potentially related -- the Israeli government deployed a new Iron Dome rocket/missile defense system in central Israel, in the Sharon valley overnight. Is the Israeli government becoming concerned the Assad regime could launch chemical attacks on Israel? For the latest developments in Syria, please go to the blog.
Obama's Weak Response

Obama's Weak Response
I have no illusions that Americans are sitting around kitchen tables fretting over U.S. policy toward Egypt. But events in the Middle East can have tremendous implications for the everyday lives of folks on Main Street, U.S.A. And today's headlines once again demonstrate how the Obama White House is making a mess of the Middle East.
There is a lot of irony here given that Obama launched his presidency with a major address in Cairo, Egypt, that sought to re-orient U.S. foreign policy after the Bush years. Now Cairo is gripped by chaos and the Obama White House is clueless.
As I reported yesterday, the BBC declared that U.S. foreign policy, as well as our reputation and credibility in the Middle East, was "in tatters." It's not hard to understand why.
Today there are conflicting reports regarding the status of U.S. aid to Egypt. After the Egyptian military removed radical Islamist Mohamed Morsi from power, the Obama Administration -- and I am not making this up -- decided not to decide whether the intervention constituted a coup.
Now Senator Patrick Leahy's (D-VT) office is saying that aid to Egypt has been stopped. A Pentagon spokesman denied the report. Has the Obama Administration finally decided? Not exactly. As one administration official explained:
"The decision was we're going to avoid saying it was a coup, but to stay on the safe side of the law, we are going to act as if the designation has been made for now. By not announcing the decision, it gives the administration the flexibility to reverse it."
Clear as mud, right?
Whatever Obama is doing, America's influence in the region is clearly waning. The Washington Post reports today that Saudi Arabia has "promised to compensate Egypt for any aid that Western countries might withdraw."
For decades, going back to the Camp David Accords of the Carter Administration, Egypt has been a pillar of stability in the Middle East. Our relationship with Saudi Arabia, while far from ideal, has generally been one of respect based on shared strategic interests.
It is difficult to imagine the Saudis so publicly confronting an American administration as they are doing with Obama. Riyadh, rather than Washington, appears to be calling the shots now.
Here's an interesting thought exercise: Let's say that under Obama's pressure the Egyptian military loses heart and invites the murderous Brotherhood into some sort of coalition government. History teaches us that in such coalitions the most bloodthirsty member will end up with the upper hand.
What do Obama and Rand Paul (who has been urging that we cut off aid to the Egyptian military) think the Brotherhood will do to every Egyptian -- from the Christian Copts to newspaper editors and moderate Muslims -- if it gets power back? It will exact revenge, and it will not care what Obama, Rand Paul or world opinion says in reaction.

The Good News Corner:
School Clerk, Hailed as Hero for Stopping Gunman,
Gives God the Glory
"I realized that . . . it was bigger than me-he was really a hurting young man-so I just started praying for him." -Antoinette Tuff
(DeKalb County, GA)-The Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy elementary school nearly experienced terror on a scale of Newtown on Tuesday, when a 20-year-old Georgia man, Michael Brandon Hill, threatened to kill everyone there, and exchanged gunfire with police.
The alleged gunman reportedly surrendered after talking with school clerk, Antoinette Tuff, who kept him from going out by the children, prayed for him and ultimately talked him out of carrying out his rampage. The clerk is being hailed as a hero.
Antoinette spoke with Diane Sawyer on ABC's World News, Tuesday night.
"I give it all to God," said Antoinette. "I'm not the hero."
"I realized that . . . it was bigger than me-he was really a hurting young man-so I just started praying for him," said Tuff in the exclusive interview.
"I just explained to him that I love him-I didn't know much about him, but I love him. It was scary because I knew that he was ready to take my life along with his, and if I didn't say the right thing then we all would be dead."
According to the report, the clerk had conversed with Hill, sharing about how she'd come through her own life struggles, and that's when he admitted that he hadn't taken his medicine.
Antoinette then asked Hill to lay his weapons down. "I told police he was giving himself up. I just talked him through it," she said.
Hill was taken into police custody and most importantly, no students were harmed. (Read more)

Billion Souls Revival Prayer Call

Billion Souls Revival Prayer Call
Devotional for Day 16:
21 August 2013
Andrew Murray, the South African devotional writer, teacher and pastor (1828-1917) in acknowledgment of Christian leaders of the past who still speak to us today.
This reflection is takenfrom the 31-Day Guide to Prayer used by special permission of Barbour Publishing, Inc.
Prayer is by Marilyn Rowsome of the Australian National Day of Prayer and Fasting
Intention:
The evangelization of the world depends first of all upon a revival of prayer. Deeper than the need for men - aye, deep down at the bottom of our spiritless life, is the need for the forgotten secret of prevailing, worldwide prayer.
Scripture:
And I will fill [them] with a spirit of mercy and a spirit of prayer (Zechariah 12:10 GNT).
Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people (Ephesians 6:18 GNT).
Reflection:
Every child of God has the Holy Spirit in him to pray. God waits to give the Spirit in full measure. Ask for yourself, and all who join, the outpouring of the Spirit of supplication [prayer]. Ask it for your own prayer circle. It is only in the power of the Spirit already in us, acknowledged and yielded to, that we can pray for His fuller manifestation. Say to the Father, it is the Spirit of His Son in you that is urging you to plead His promise.
Pray that our mission work may be done in this spirit - waiting on God, hearing the voice of the Spirit, sending forth men with fasting and prayer (Acts 13:2-4). Pray that in our churches our mission interest and mission work may be in the power of the Holy Spirit and of prayer. It is a Spirit-filled, praying church that will send out Spirit-filled missionaries, mighty in prayer.
Time is one of the chief standards of value. The time we give is a proof of the interest we feel. We need time with God - to realize His presence; wait for Him to make Himself known; to consider and feel the needs we plead for; to take our place in Christ; to pray 'til we can believe that we have received. Take time in prayer, and pray down blessing on the mission work of the church.
Prayer:
Lord of All, I ask that you pour out your Spirit on me and my fellowship that we will be moved to pray. Help us to continue steadfastly in mighty prevailing prayer for worldwide revival. Too often our praying is replaced by activities and busyness in our lives and in our fellowships. Forgive us for our prayerlessness and our carelessness with your Word. We repent of self-effort and selfishness that makes us depend on worldly strategies or the flesh.
Help us to pray in the power of your Holy Spirit using the sword of the Spirit. We give ourselves wholeheartedly to your ways for your work. We thank you for the acceleration of mighty global, national and local prayer movements in the last few decades. We declare now a multiplication of prayer, praise and worship to you, as never before, throughout the earth, that will bring great glory to your name. In Jesus name. Amen.
