The Daily Brief

1. '07 Obama Speech Uncovered - Daily Caller

In a video obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama tells an audience of black ministers, including the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that the U.S. government shortchanged Hurricane Katrina victims because of racism.

"The people down in New Orleans they don't care about as much!" Obama shouts in the video, which was shot in June of 2007 at Hampton University in Virginia. By contrast, survivors of Sept. 11 and Hurricane Andrew received generous amounts of aid, Obama explains. The reason? Unlike residents of majority-black New Orleans, the federal government considers those victims "part of the American family."

The racially charged and at times angry speech undermines Obama's carefully-crafted image as a leader eager to build bridges between ethnic groups. For nearly 40 minutes, using an accent he almost never adopts in public, Obama describes a racist, zero-sum society, in which the white majority profits by exploiting black America. The mostly black audience shouts in agreement. The effect is closer to an Al Sharpton rally than a conventional campaign event.

- " Blessed be the name of GOD forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings - He reveals deep and secret things." (Daniel 2:20-22) (selected portions)

2. U.S. had early indications Libya attack tied to organized militants - Reuters

Within hours of last month's attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya, President Barack Obama's administration received about a dozen intelligence reports suggesting militants connected to al Qaeda were involved, three government sources said.

Despite these reports, in public statements and private meetings, top U.S. officials spent nearly two weeks highlighting intelligence suggesting that the attacks were spontaneous protests against an anti-Muslim film (you-tube trailer), while playing down the involvement of organized militant groups.

"Within hours of the attack, intelligence assessments highlighted the role of al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists, but the administration focused instead on a video that appears to have had little, if anything, to do with the violence in Benghazi," Senator Saxby Chambliss, the Republican vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee said. The existence of the early reports appears to raise fresh questions about the Obama administration's public messaging about the attack, as it seeks to fend off Republican charges that the White House failed to prevent a terrorist strike that left a U.S. ambassador and three others dead.

- In Jesus' name, we ask that those who did nothing to prevent these horrific attacks against the U.S. and the deaths of our foreign personnel, and then fabricated stories to cover up their negligence, will be held fully accountable!

- " I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. " (Psalm 27:13)

3. Judge dismisses St. Louis suit challenging health care law's contraception mandate - St Louis Post Dispatch

A federal judge in St. Louis has dismissed a claim that the 2010 health care reform law's contraception mandate violates an employer's religious freedom. It is believed to be the first decision on the merits among more than two dozen such lawsuits across the country.

The law requires coverage of prescription birth control pills and implants at no cost to enrollees in all private health insurance policies, starting in 2013. U.S. District Judge Carol Jackson ruled late Friday that the "regulations do not impose a 'substantial burden' on the plaintiff or his company (Frank O'Brien, O'Brien Industrial Holdings), and do not violate (their) rights."

"If a $100,000 fine isn't a burden on religious liberty, I don't know what is," said Becket Fund lawyer Kyle Duncan, in a prepared statement. "This decision conflicts with what another federal judge has already decided about the mandate, and it is out of step with Supreme Court precedent."

- Abba, may Americans of understanding and discernment persist - until victory is accomplished in the battle to overturn Obamacare, which clearly discriminates against the principles of Christians even while it allows Muslims and cults to opt out " for reasons of conscience." Overturn Obamacare in full repeal, we ask in Jesus' name!

- " He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, "Destroy!" (Deuteronomy 33:27)

4. Iranian source: Nuclear program hiring 'non-stop,' ramping up enrichment - Times of Israel

Iran is recruiting staff relentlessly to work on its nuclear program, is making steady progress in its uranium enrichment, and has constructed several facilities for nuclear testing outside Tehran whose precise location is known only to high-ranking officials, according to an Iranian source who said he was hired recently as a researcher at one of Iran's nuclear facilities.

- Abba, as we receive daily news of Iran's nuclear plans growing ever nearer to completion, we pray for leadership in America to stand boldly before the world against Iran, and prevent it from having the capability to reap destruction on the United States and Israel. We pray for Israel, whose proximity to Iran places them in grave and imminent danger. We also pray for leadership in America to stand with Israel, and to have the wisdom to not continue diminishing US arsenals in the Middle East. In Jesus' name!

- " Arise, O Lord, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight, put them in fear, O Lord " (Psalm 9:19,20a)

Measuring presidential debates: Of God and Country

As America prepares for the "Presidential" debate, it might be an interesting exercise to review what being an American really is. My son, who is studying political science and religious studies in a very conservative academic program at Ashland University, says that being an American is a state of mind. The first whites that came to this new land were predominantly Christians who fled Europe because of religious persecution and/or the hope for a better life financially. This is documented through the writings of those who settled in Jamestown, Plymouth and even the Huguenots who settled in what is now Florida in the late 1500s. The "state of mind" of these early Americans was freedom of worship and enterprise.

Our first president, George Washington, gave great insight into what it means to be an American in his 1796 Farewell Speech. He said, "Citizens, by birth or choice, of a common country, that country has a right to concentrate your affections. The name of American, which belongs to you in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion, manners, habits, and political principles. You have in a common cause fought and triumphed together; the independence and liberty you possess are the work of joint counsels, and joint efforts of common dangers, sufferings, and successes."
Washington pointed out that all citizens have independence and liberty in common. He said that for the most part, Americans share the same religion, manners, habits and political principles. That is, they were Christian; they were individualist, enterprising, and depended on the "national union" of our government "as of the palladium of your political safety and prosperity." It is for this reason that Washington believed Americans should be watching for the nation's "preservation with jealous anxiety...and indignantly frowning upon the first dawning of every attempt to alienate any portion of our country from the rest, or to enfeeble the sacred ties which now link together the various parts."
The Founding Fathers envisioned a limited government where citizens would give up some independence for the protections needed to have a civil society. In this way, the Founders used Exodus 18:20-21 as a guide to establish our Republic, "And you shall teach them ordinances and laws, and shall show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear YHVH, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them..." Self governance can only be accomplished through good citizenship. As you consider the Presidential debates, perhaps measure them on the balance of Washington's words and the premise of Exodus 18.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Presidential Debate Tonight: Obama, Mitt Romney Prepare To Face Off

In the first presidential debate of the 2012 election season, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will go head-to-head at the University of Denver in Colorado on Wednesday night. The focus of the event will be on domestic policy and it will be moderated by PBS NewsHour Executive Editor Jim Lehrer.

When it comes to the format of the showdown, the Commission on Presidential Debates explains: The debate will focus on domestic policy and be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on topics to be selected by the moderator and announced several weeks before the debate.

The moderator will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the topic.

The debate begins at 9:00 p.m. ET (Huffington Post)
Note:

The TWO other Presidential Debates are on Tues 10-16 and Mon 10-22.

The ONLY Vice- Presidential Debate is on Thurs 10- 11.

- PLEASE PRAY that the wickedness of homosexual marriage, abortion and free abortion paid for in Health Care Bill, very questionable support of Israel, exponential debt and interest on debt, restricting the development of our own source of energy, hurting the coal industry, and on and on and on would be addressed HEAD ON -- ALL STOPS OUT -- during these debates. God help us to be true patriots like the ones who founded this country on the God of the Bible to the sacrifice of their own life and/or fortune, Jew and Gentile alike. That the man on the street today, who does not have the time to dig deeply, will UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES before he votes.

Our prayer is David's prayer: "O LORD, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahitophel into foolishness!!!" [Ahitophel was Bathsheba's grandfather and was a wise counselor who had been in David's service a long time, but switched his allegiance to Absalom. David's son, Absalom, treasonously tried to remove his father from the throne of Israel and died in the attempt.] 2 Samuel 15:31. And God answered David's prayer and turned the advisor's counsel to foolishness.
Please also meditate today upon Isaiah 52:1-10.

DECREE FOR AMERICA

DECREE FOR AMERICA

We, the people of the United States of America, with heartfelt conviction and respect for our Constitution, do humbly submit this Decree for America.

I. LIFE. We decree that human life possesses intrinsic dignity from the moment of conception until death. We decree that life begins at conception, and a baby in the womb is a living soul. We refute the culture of death established by Roe v. Wade and the expansion of such culture by current laws that legalize abortion on demand, in any stage of pregnancy. We further refute the implication that all Americans be required to invest their tax dollars in the slaughter of unborn children. Furthermore, we refute the ideology that encourages euthanasia, thereby erasing those who have been deemed to have lives "not worth living." We decree that God has entrusted us as His guardians and agents to protect life.

II. FAMILY. We decree that marriage is between a man and a woman exclusively. We proclaim and decree that marriage laws in America will always adhere to the biblical worldview that marriage is a holy covenant before God between a man and a woman committed to lifelong fidelity and purity. As people of faith, we refute the movement to redefine marriage as simply a romantic relationship between people, and we refute maneuvers to secure equal treatment under law for same-sex couples. Marriage is a monogamous relationship with a core value of procreation. We support the first commandment in the Bible given to a husband and wife that they should produce fruit through bearing and raising children. We decree that marriage laws in America will not include unions other than those between a man and a woman.

III. AN UNDIVIDED ISRAEL. We decree that the land of Israel shall not be divided. Out of heartfelt conviction we passionately support the Jewish state of Israel and see in it God's promise and fulfillment of the covenant between the Jewish people and the land itself. We proclaim that Jerusalem has always been the holy and anointed spot of Jewish history, and we declare it will always be the indivisible capital of Israel. We decree that never again shall the Jewish people forfeit their land and their city.

We decree that we cannot support a so-called "right of return" by Arabs into Israel, designed to demographically denude Israel as a Jewish state and culturally and religiously transform it from a free society into one under Sharia and absolutist control. To ensure Jerusalem's survival we strongly, without equivocation, endorse a policy that leaves Israel in a stronger military position against her manifold surrounding enemies. As with our forebears, we remain biblical Zionists who recognize the merit of being participants of Israel's ingathering of her exiles and the rebirth of the biblical land.
If you affirm the language in this decree, please join thousands of Americans to sign the decree here:

Derek Prince: Prayer for the Election

Derek Prince: Prayer for the Election

RECEIVED FROM DEREK PRINCE MINISTRIES:

Just a little over a month from now, on November 6, Americans will be heading for the polls to let their voices be heard in the matter of the presidential election, as well as other national and local candidates and issues - unless you have chosen to vote by early ballot.

I thought it might be helpful to you to hear what Derek had to say about participating in the electoral process. In 1980 we had another very important presidential election - the culmination of which Ronald Reagan was voted into office. Derek, in his bi-monthly UPDATE, gave a report on his recent ministry trips, but went on to encourage us to get to the polls and make a difference. These words hold true today, as well, so let's take the time to pray over these elections - and then go to the polls and vote.

Here is what Derek said in the early days of October 1980:

I am specifically praying myself that in these coming weeks, somehow or other, the power of witchcraft over the political processes of the United States will be broken and the political processes of the United States will be released from that evil spiritual dominion which has been becoming increasingly dominant in those processes for several years past. So let me remind you again: Remember to pray. Ask God to show you how to pray. Remember to cast your vote, and don't be afraid of the battle. They that be with us are more than they that be with them.
"Almighty, God, our Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, redeemed by His blood, committed to serve and follow Him. We come to You as Your believing people, Your representatives in this earth, the agents of Your government in the earth. We lift up to You this nation of ours, the United States. We thank You for the many centuries of special grace and mercy that You have granted to this nation. We thank You for the godly seeds that have been sown over the centuries by men of faith who have followed in Your footsteps-labored, sacrificed, prayed, and given for Your kingdom.
Lord, we desire that these godly seeds shall develop into a harvest that shall be reaped for Your purposes. We ask You to extend Your grace and mercy to this nation. We ask You to send a mighty visitation of the Holy Spirit that will overthrow the strongholds of Satan and uplift and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We ask You for a mighty floodtide of spiritual revival that will sweep across this nation, casting down everything that opposes itself against the knowledge of God.
And we commit to You now specifically the forthcoming elections and all of the political processes involved. We take our stand in Jesus' name against every satanic principality and power that would seek to exercise control in these elections. We break their power, we release the elective and the governmental processes from their control, and we put them in Your hands. We pray that You will guide and overrule. That You will raise up the men and the women of Your choice, put down those who will oppose and stand against Your purposes, and bring Your purposes to fulfillment in this nation.
Lord, we do believe that You have a special destiny for the United States, and we pray that nothing that Satan will do will be able to hinder that destiny.
We also pray, Lord, for the relationship of the United States to Israel. That You will keep Your hand upon it and that You will also guide and overrule, to the benefit of Israel. That this nation will not turn against Israel or take its stand among the enemies of Israel. That You will graciously use this nation continually to support and uphold Your people, Israel, and their State.
Lord, we ask all these things, believing them to be Your will and believing them to be for Your glory, in the precious, all-prevailing name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Savior. Amen."

During this time of decision and action, we would like to equip you with some helpful resources. The audio messages are available for free download as well as Derek's booklet, Praying for the Government. In addition, the above prayer can be freely printed or it can be purchased as a handy card that you take along with you.

For PDF/MP3 downloads - or to purchase the printed materials, click here.

A SUGGESTED PRAYER STRATEGY FROM CHPP:

You may wish to print out this prayer and use it during your ONE MINUTE of prayer from now through the election.

Also, be sure to set your cell phones or your watches to ring just before 9:00 p.m. each night, in preparation for your own one minute of prayer. IT WORKS!

Bad News from California

California Governor Signs Controversial Bill

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Sunday banning counselors in the state from helping minors with unwanted same-sex attractions. At least one organization now is filing a lawsuit to block the legislation in court.

State Sen. Ted Lieu ( D-San Francisco) introduced SB 1172, which makes it illegal for therapists to provide sexual-orientation change effort (SOCE) counseling to anyone under the age of 18. The law will take effect Jan. 1.

David Pickup, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Los Angeles, told CitizenLink the "egregious" bill "is abusive and damaging to minors." (Read more)

MORE FROM NBC NEWS:

Gov. Jerry Brown announced Sunday that he has signed Senate Bill 1172, which prohibits children under age 18 from undergoing "sexual orientation change efforts." The law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, prohibits state-licensed therapists from engaging in these practices with minors.

"Governor Brown today reaffirmed what medical and mental health organizations have made clear: Efforts to change minors' sexual orientation are not therapy, they are the relics of prejudice and abuse that have inflicted untold harm on young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Californians," Clarissa Filgioun, board president of Equality California, said in a press release.

Kate Kendell, executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, added: "Governor Brown has sent a powerful message of affirmation and support to LGBT youth and their families. This law will ensure that state-licensed therapists can no longer abuse their power to harm LGBT youth and propagate the dangerous and deadly lie that sexual orientation is an illness or disorder that can be 'cured.'"

The bill was sponsored by Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, who said bogus and unethical practices by mental-health providers to try to change a young person's sexual orientation have resulted in irreparable psychological and emotional harm to patients. "I am deeply honored Governor Brown signed SB 1172. The bill is necessary because children were being psychologically abused by reparative therapists who would try to change the child's sexual orientation.

- Lord, we pray that the curriculum in the public schools of America, which overtly strives to encourage homosexuality in the nation's youth, will be likewise brought to a complete halt in Jesus' name! Raise up Spirit-filled youth in America's schools to stand boldly before their peers for the truths of Your Word!

- " Assuredly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt - if you say to this mountain, ' Be removed and cast into the sea,' it will be done. " (Matthew 21:21)
