The Daily Brief

1. a) Hurricane Sandy lashes Cuba after cutting deadly path through Jamaica- AP

Hurricane Sandy blasted across eastern Cuba on Thursday as a potent Category 2 storm and headed for the Bahamas after causing at least two deaths in the Caribbean.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Sandy had emerged of Cuba's northeast coast around dawn and was moving north at 18 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph. It was expected to remain a hurricane as it moves through the Bahamas.

b) East Coast Super Storm Possible -The Survival Center

"Climate Central" is quoting a number of official sources which are concerned that a tropical storm that's about to hit the Bahamas may turn into a Super Storm and track into the East Coast from October 29 onward.

They're using terms like, "think if a hurricane and nor'easter mated, possibly spawning a very rare and powerful hybrid storm, slamming into the Boston-to-Washington corridor early next week, with rain, inland snow, damaging winds, and potential storm surge flooding."

Granted, these scenarios are currently based on modeling what might occur as Tropical Storm Sandy travels up the East Coast and hits the jet stream coming down from the Arctic, so there's still a wide margin of speculation involved.

However, the possibility does exist that this storm could be one for the record books - perhaps one of the worst in 200 years.

- Father, in the Mighty Name of Jesus we rebuke this hurricane, bind up any "meeting storms" and command peace over our Eastern shores.

-"Then He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" and the wind ceased and there was a great calm." [Mark 4:39]

2. Chinese ships enter disputed Senkaku waters - UK telegraph

Japan's Coast Guard said the four Chinese surveillance ships were spotted within a 12-nautical mile zone that Tokyo considers its territorial waters near one of the disputed islands in the East China Sea early Thursday morning. The ships refused to leave, saying the area was Chinese territory, according to Atsushi Takahashi, a spokesman for the Coast Guard's headquarters in Okinawa, which has jurisdiction over the islands.

- Lord, we plead Your Blood over this tense situation in the East China Sea. We pray that wise leaders will know exactly what to do or not to do.

-"Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten rulers of the city." [Eccl 7:19]

3. U.N.: Truce pact reached amid questions- UPI

A tentative cease-fire pact between Syria and rebel fighters was announced Wednesday by envoy Lakhdar Brahimi amid questions about how it would be enforced. Brahimi wants the temporary truce to be in place during the Islamic Id al-Adha feast that begins Friday, The New York Times reported. The envoy, who represents both the United Nations and Arab League, said in Cairo Syria was preparing to announce the cease-fire and most rebel factions he had contacted said they would respect it as well.

- Lord, we view this earthly "cease-fire" with suspicion and trepidation. We ask that Your Holy Spirit move across this region of the world in power and life-changing waves, making a true "cease-fire" of transformed lives.

-"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." [John 3:17]

4. U.N. Calls for 'Anti-terror' Internet Surveillance- CNET

The United Nations is calling for more surveillance of Internet users, saying it would help to investigate and prosecute terrorists.

A 148-page report (PDF) released today titled "The Use of the Internet for Terrorist Purposes" warns that terrorists are using social networks and other sharing sites including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Dropbox, to spread "propaganda."

"Potential terrorists use advanced communications technology often involving the Internet to reach a worldwide audience with relative anonymity and at a low cost," said Yury Fedotov, executive director of the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

- Lord, when the righteous are in authority, the laws of the land are fair and just. But when evil men rule, the laws become evil to match the actions of the leaders. We pray that You will protect the freedom of the internet, and let our leaders be alert to the destruction of that freedom by international influences.

- "And behold I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every one according to his works." [Rev 22:12]

5. Arizona to vote on taking control of Grand Canyon- Fox News

Arizona voters have a big decision to make this November. Really big.

Arizonans will vote next month on a ballot proposal to give the state control over the Grand Canyon - the latest move in the so-called "sagebrush revolt" in which western states are trying to reclaim federal land.

The issue was put on the ballot after the proposal passed the Republican-controlled legislature. It would amend the state constitution to give Arizona sovereignty and jurisdiction over not just the Grand Canyon but all the "air, water, public lands, minerals, wildlife and other natural resources" within its boundaries.

The 227-mile-long canyon is the most iconic landmark under that category, though the bill encompasses millions of federal acres, excluding Indian reservations and military installations.

- Lord, as the conflict between the sovereignty of states versus the power of the Federal government continues across our land, we pray that our freedom will ultimately be the victor. We pray against any armed conflicts, that no matter what the "rebellions" entail they will remain peaceful.

-"Do not say a 'conspiracy' concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, nor be afraid of their threats nor be troubled." [Isaiah 8:12]

6. Texas AG Tells Int'l Election Monitors to Butt Out, Prompting Complaint
- CNS News

The head of an international body that will monitor the U.S. elections next month protested to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Wednesday after Texas' attorney-general warned that any international observer who approaches a polling station in the state risks criminal prosecution.

- Lord, we pray against any intimidation by the United Nations or any other group against free and fair elections in America.

-"Stand fast, therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free" [Galatians 5:1a]

"Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto Your name give glory, for Your mercy, and for Your truth's sake. Why should the nations say, Where is their God? But our God is in the heavens. He has done whatever He has pleased." (Psalm 115:1-3)

1. Worried about the Syria war, Golan Heights residents seek Israeli citizenship - USA Today

Although the Golan has been occupied and annexed by Israel since the Six-Day War in 1967, most people here consider themselves Syrians - but that may be changing.

Taking a break from dishing up the local favorite of warm pita bread filled with freshly chopped salad, hummus and falafel, Salah says many people here have become Israeli citizens and more are hiring lawyers to do the same.

"People are unsure of what is going to happen in Syria, and they also want democracy for themselves," he says.

2. US-Israel drill simulates missile attacks - as rockets fall on South - The Times of Israel

The US and Israel simulated rocket attacks during their largest-ever joint military drill Wednesday, while real missiles fired from Gaza exploded in southern Israel.

US military officials noted that the joint exercise, called Austere Challenge 12, was planned long before the latest flare-up between Israel and Hamas-ruled Gaza and a long-running debate over how to deal with Iran, and said it was unrelated to specific threats facing Israel.

3. As Israel-Hamas ceasefire takes hold, life in the south goes back to normal - Ha'aretz

After a quiet night on the Gaza border, life in the south of Israel went back to normal Thursday morning with schools reopening and residents allowed to leave the immediate proximity of safe rooms.

At the end of a day that saw more than 80 missiles fired from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, injuring five civilians and damaging eight houses, calm returned to the region following reports of an Egypt-mediated truce between Israel and Hamas.

The Daily Jot

Radical Muslims stream into White House

In his first major foreign policy speech in Cairo on June 4, 2009 entitled "A New Beginning," the occupant of the Oval Office said, "I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles - principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings." Noticed among the audience were members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood invited by the US president. Unknown was the full impact of this president and his Islamic worldview.

Since then, the president has used the influence of his office and the power of the United States to partner with the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda to overthrow Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen, and is working to do the same in Syria and Mali. In fact, it was an al Qaeda offshoot that turned against the White House in murdering America's ambassador and three other citizens in Benghazi, Libya--an event where the president and his staff and cabinet misled the American people for nearly a month that the attack was the result of a spontaneous protest of an anti-Islamic movie gone violent. The Administration, including the White House, new within 121 minutes that the attack was terrorism.
Notwithstanding, there has been numerous news media reports of Muslims with ties to radical and violent Islamic organizations, mostly offshoots of the Muslim Brotherhood (prior to this Administration listed as a terrorist sponsoring organization), that have been appointed to high positions within the national security and defense sectors of the Administration. Most notably is Huma Abedin, right hand woman to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Abedin's entire family is immersed in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leadership. The Muslim Brotherhood and its unofficial military offshoot, al Qaeda, have played a major partnership role with the White House in "democratizing" the overthrown nations.
Now the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) has completed a year-long investigation of the White House visitors logs. IPT reports that "scores of known radical Islamists made hundreds of visits to the Obama White House, meeting with top administration officials.Court documents and other records have identified many of these visitors as belonging to groups serving as fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and other Islamic militant organizations." The conclusion is that this president has compromised national security with his "New Beginning." As Jeremiah 51:14 prophesies, "I will fill thee with men as with locusts and they shall lift up a battle cry against you." It is happening to America and we as a people must have a change of heart otherwise our nation will fall.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

DEM CAMPAIGN BOSS CAUGHT IN VOTER FRAUD RESIGNS

After being caught on video in an undercover probe in an apparent attempt to commit voter fraud, the field director for Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., who also is the congressman's son, announced his resignation.

WND, which broke the story yesterday, made numerous attempts to obtain comment from Patrick Moran and his father's campaign but received no reply.

Patrick Moran, however, sent an email to the liberal blog TalkingPointsMemo announcing his resignation.

"Effective immediately, I have resigned from the Moran for Congress campaign," Patrick Moran said in a statement to TPM sent from his campaign email address.

The video shows Patrick Moran advising an undercover reporter how to fraudulently cast ballots in the name of registered voters by forging utility bills and relying on the assistance of Democrat lawyers.

James O'Keefe's Project Veritas, known for its hidden-camera probe of the controversial national community organizing group tied to Obama, ACORN, carried out the investigation. (WorldNetDaily) Read more.

Update from FRC

Shooter's Drive to Silence FRC Leads to Terrorism Indictment

October 24, 2012

Washington, D.C. - The United States Attorney's Office announced today that a federal grand jury has returned a "superseding indictment against Floyd Lee Corkins, II, charging him with several new offenses, including a District of Columbia charge of committing an act of terrorism." The charges stem from the August 15, 2012 shooting at the Family Research Council's headquarters.

Corkins, who had been a volunteer at a local homosexual activist organization, invaded the lobby armed with a 9mm pistol, approximately 50 rounds of ammunition, and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches purchased the day before. Leo Johnson, FRC 's building manager, confronted the gunman, at which time Corkins began firing. Despite being shot, Johnson was able to subdue the shooter, and according to investigators, his actions saved many lives.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins offered the following reaction to the terrorism indictment:

"The terrorism indictment announced today - the first under the District's ten-year-old anti-terrorism statute -- makes clear that acts of violence designed to intimidate and silence those who support natural marriage and traditional morality violate the law and undermine the security and stability of our form of government.

"We again call on organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center to stop its reckless practice of labeling organizations that oppose their promotion of homosexuality. The SPLC's 'hate' labeling of Christian organizations is fostering a dangerous and deadly environment of hostility and it needs to stop.
"The Family Research Council and our supporters understand the essential nature of our First Freedoms of religion and speech in the survival of our constitutional republic and remain unequivocally committed to our mission of advancing faith, family and freedom," concluded Perkins.

A Message from Business Leaders

Business Leaders To Voters: Think Carefully

More than two dozen highly respected, very successful business leaders recently signed an open letter in USA Today urging the American people to "think carefully about what kind of country we are creating for ourselves and coming generations" before they vote.

The list of signatories includes entrepreneurs like Jack Welch, Roger Hertog, Mel Karmazin and Ken Langone. The letter blasts Obama's class warfare as a distraction from his "own policy failures." You can read more here.

We also got another warning about Obama's policy failures and the grim future ahead if Obama is reelected and conservatives fail to retake the Senate. Yesterday Autozone released its annual report, which stated very clearly that Obamacare "could have a significant, negative impact on our business."

Autozone and other companies won't just "eat" this loss. There will be higher prices for consumers and more Americans unemployed and working fewer hours. Darden Restaurants (owner of Red Lobster and Olive Garden) is already cutting back staff, and now it is reducing the number of hours part-time employees can work because of Obamacare. (Gary Bauer)

Obama's Surprise

Obama's Surprise

The Washington rumor mill is rife with buzz about an anti-Romney "October surprise" coming out from the Obama campaign. There are reports of irregularities with voting machines in North Carolina. Republican voters in central Florida have reportedly received letters telling them they are not registered and should not try to vote on Election Day.

In the days ahead, we will report more on what we are hearing, including some possible October surprise scenarios you should be looking for.

Today Donald Trump made his big announcement: If Barack Obama will release his college records and passport applications, Trump will donate $5 million to any charity Obama chooses.

If I were Barack Obama, I would do it. He could silence, if not embarrass, Donald Trump and put Trump's money to good use for needy inner-city children, perhaps the many victims of Chicago's gang violence. Assuming, of course, Obama has nothing to hide. (Gary Bauer)

Homeschooling Victory in Sweden

"This is an extremely important decision by a Swedish court, and the first ray of light for the Swedish homeschooling community." -Christopher Warren, homeschooling father.

(Stockholm, Sweden)-A Swedish appeals court unanimously ruled that homeschooling parents in Gothenburg can teach their children at home, in accordance with their beliefs.

Noting that homeschooling continues to be under governmental attack in Sweden, a World Net Daily report states that this victory may be a turning point in the ongoing battle.

The mother of the children awarded in the case, Leah Namdar, said, "For us, we're tremendously happy-thank God, thank God . . .The bedrock of a healthy society is belief in God, and one of the challenges in Sweden in general is the sense that many, many people in the country [are] living without belief in God."
Jonas Himmelstrand, the president of the Swedish Homeschooling Association, said, "In the end, Swedish home education will most certainly outlive the present Swedish policies on home education." (WorldNetDaily)
