"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

1. Israel concerned Hezbollah may get new Iran missile - Times of Israel

Israeli security officials expressed concern Saturday that a new long-range missile unveiled by Iran could be provided to Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israel Radio reported.

Sources told the radio station that the missile would be a powerful asset for the terror organization if placed near the border, and could be used to hit any point in Israel.

Iran said the new Fateh-313 surface-to-surface ballistic missile has a range of 500-kilometers (310 miles).

The military industry called the solid-fuel missile one of the most exact ever manufactured, boasting that it has successfully hit multiple targets with great precision, Israel's Walla website reported. (Read more)

2. Liberman: Barak revealed 'state secrets' on Iran - Times of Israel

Former foreign minister Avigdor Liberman on Sunday accused erstwhile defense minister Ehud Barak of exposing state secrets, after the latter detailed on tape three occasions between 2010 and 2012 when Israel was ostensibly poised to strike Iran's nuclear facilities. Liberman told Army Radio that he was "more than surprised" at Barak, and said statements such as those given by the former minister would ultimately strengthen Iran.

"I think that when moves and discussions that should have been closely guarded state secrets are discussed by the press, it relays that you are a talker, that you aren't serious, that you're unreliable," he said. "That is why, among other reasons, Iran is being coddled by the international community, and we have been backed into a corner . . . These things should only have been discussed in closed forums." 3. Israel's leaders 'furious' over Barak tapes describing aborted plans to hit Iran - Times of Israel

Israel's leadership, from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on down, is reportedly furious with former defense minister Ehud Barak for having detailed on tape three occasions in 2010-2012 when Israel was ostensibly on the point of striking Iran's nuclear facilities.

Israel's Channel 2, which broadcast the bombshell recordings on Friday night, said Saturday that the "anger" at Barak was widespread in the Israeli leadership, and that numerous senior political and security officials were also privately intimating that Barak's version of events was not entirely accurate. The Prime Minister's Office did not issue an official response to the broadcast. (Read More)

4. Khamenei urges Islamic unity against real enemies: US and Israel - Times of Israel

Iran's supreme leader claimed Saturday that Islamic nations were being manipulated into internal strife by the world's "bullies" and urged Islamic unity in the face of what he identified as the Umma's two greatest enemies: the US and Israel.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the US had long sought to incite "third-party" states against Iran but "such third parties are only deceived puppets," the Islamic republic's Fars news agency reported.

"The root cause of the problems returns to their real enemies, the US and Israel," he said. (Read more)

5. Will West and Arab states accept border changes that redivide region? - Jerusalem Post

As a result of regional conflict and weakened and broken Arab states, it may only be a matter of time before world powers and the Middle East's Arab leaders conform to reality and propose to divide the region anew.

Perhaps a kind of Sykes-Picot II will be in the offing, but on a smaller scale, or maybe the de facto boundaries will continue to be accepted for the time being - unofficially.

It was the Sykes-Picot Agreement reached during World War I that first charted out how to partition the Ottoman Empire. The British and French carved up the region according to their interests, not paying adequate attention to ethnic groups. (Read more)

6. Iran Warns Israel of 'Crushing Response' to Any Cyber-Attack Attempt - Algemeiner

A senior Iranian official threatened a "crushing response" to any Israeli attempt to tamper technologically with its infrastructure, Iran's semi-official state news agency Fars reported on Sunday.

"If the Zionist regime dares to launch a cyber attack on Iran, we will surely respond to it," Mahmoud Vaezi, Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister, said. (Read more)

7. Petition to Arrest PM in London Nearing 80,000 Signatures - Israel National News

The number of signatures on an online petition calling for the arrest of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during his visit to the UK in September has nearly doubled to reach almost 80,000, Haaretz reported Sunday.

The e-petition, uploaded to the UK Government's official website earlier this month, calls for Netanyahu to be arrested under international law for "war crimes" during last summer's Israel-Gaza war.

It has gained 36,000 signatures in the last 10 days, reaching about 77,350 signatures as of Sunday evening, according to Haaretz. (Read more)

The Daily Brief

1. Gunman tackled on Paris-bound train on authorities' radar in 3 countries - FoxNews

The man who boarded a high speed Paris-bound train armed with a Kalishnikov before being subdued by passengers was on the radar of authorities in at least three countries, had ties to radical Islam and may have traveled to Syria, authorities said.

A French official close to the investigation, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing, identified the attacker to The Associated Press as Ayoub el-Khazzani, 26, who was known to authorities in France, Belgium and Spain.

Officials didn't disclose a possible motive for the Friday attack, but Interior Minister Bernard Cazenueve said Spanish authorities had advised French intelligence about the suspect because he belongs to the "radical Islamist movement." Three people were injured but no one died in the attack. Authorities have credited brave American, French and British passenger with stopping El-Khazzani, who they said was armed with the assault rifle, nine magazines, a pistol and a boxcutter. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we lift up praise for these 3 young Americans, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler, who disarmed the alleged gunman with the help of a UK businessman. We thank You for what they did on this train and for how their quick responses, acute awareness and their athletic and/or military training enabled them to stop a jihadist man from killing multiple people. Father, may people in leadership learn from this example and act upon it to protect their citizens and nations. We pray that a heightened awareness of what is occurring around them will develop within the public not only in the EU but in the USA and any other nation under jihadist threat. We pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor. A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the trusted stronghold." (Proverbs 21:21-22)

2. These Charts Show How Hard China Has Hit Global Markets - Bloomberg

Weak manufacturing data out of China was the latest bad news to wreak havoc in financial markets this week. The devaluation of the yuan last week sparked global growth concerns that hit almost every global asset class, finally reaching what had until now been a bastion of stability: the S&P 500.

European shares entered a correction while emerging-market stocks faced the biggest weekly drop in more than three years. Equities in Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Taiwan entered bear markets. And with the S&P 500's steepest decline in 18 months yesterday, its two-day loss is the worst since 2011. Investors are selling the biggest winners of 2015 -- including Netflix, Apple and Amazon. (Read more)

- Father God, sad as this news is today, we sense that we will need to adjust our perspective to begin to embrace this "new normal" in the months ahead. As we now head into the end of this seven-year shemitah cycle, a major course correction is surely ahead, which will impact the global community of nations. May this season bring many to understand their own helpless estate, and to turn to You for help -- salvation -- in time of need. And Lord God, we ask that You would teach us how to pray in these perilous times. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

- "Lord, teach us to pray . . ." (Luke 11:1)

3. U.S. Stock Plunge Picks Up Speed; Dow Off 530 Points - Wall Street Journal

Ugly week ends with worst day for the Dow and other indexes in years

U.S. stocks suffered their worst losses in four years at the end of a bruising week, as growing concern about China's economy pushed shares in the U.S. and Europe into what money managers call a correction. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day down 10.1% from its May record, crossing the 10% threshold that typically defines a correction. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, the fragile state of the global economy is surfacing more and more. What is reflected across the globe is the overwhelming debt levels carried by nations and how this debt level is shattering their financial systems. We ask that You direct Your people how to prepare and respond to this time of extreme economic difficulties, praying this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." (Psalm 34:19 NKJV)

4. Rouhani Threatens War if Nuclear Deal Fails - Arutz Sheva

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani unveiled the country's latest domestically produced surface to surface missile on Saturday, saying such weapons are necessary for "defense" - despite his nation's active offensive actions throughout the region, most recently in proxy rocket attacks against Israel on Thursday.

The Fateh (Winner) 313 ballistic missile has a 500-kilometer (300 miles) range and features more advanced sensors and technology, according to Sepah News, the website of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. It was rolled out little more than a month after Iran and world powers concluded a deal that requires Iran to curb key parts of its nuclear program in exchange for a lifting of economic sanctions.

"Iran's strategy is based on defense and deterrence. The first line is diplomats and the second line is generals. Diplomats should be backed by generals. If they fail, it is the generals' turn to come forward," he said, in a clear indication that military action will follow the failure of nuclear diplomacy. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, this is a clear, openly spoken threat that if Iran does not have its way and obtain what they call 'nuclear diplomacy, they will start a deadly war. The flaunting of their new ballistic missile carries a further threatening message to reinforce what they are speaking. Have mercy and help us, Father, for the sake of Your special land and people, plus Your remnant. If this is the time for war and confrontation, we pray for special directions and angelic protection for Your people, praying this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles." (2 Chronicles 32:8)

The bullying powers, as he called them, are conspiring "against the Quran and not Shiism and Iran, because they know that the Quran and Islam are the center of awakening nations."

Khamenei was speaking to Iranian officials in charge of the Hajj - the annual pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims from all over the world undertake. (Read more)

- Abba Father, another key Iranian leader is accusing the US and Israel for all the troubles that are happening in the Middle East. At this time of the Hajj (the pilgrimage to Mecca), this man is attempting to evoke a 'religious' war. We cry 'Mercy, Mercy, Father.' We pray that You will rise up and save Your people, walking us through this coming 'nightmare'. We pray this in the Name of Jesus and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1)

6. Koreas Adjourn Emergency Peace Talks - Voice Of America

North and South Korean officials met into the early hours of Sunday in an urgent bid to avert war on the peninsula before adjourning their marathon talks until Sunday afternoon.

The high-level meeting began Saturday evening despite a deadline set by Pyongyang, which had threatened military action unless Seoul ended propaganda broadcasts into the communist north and removed banks of loudspeakers it has installed along the border.

The deadline passed without incident - and without the loudspeakers' removal - and the talks began 90 minutes later, at 6 p.m. (local time). Long after midnight, there was no word from either North or South Korea about whether the negotiations were making any progress, or how long they would continue.

In Washington, White House officials said President Barack Obama has been kept up-to-date on the situation in the Korean Peninsula. "As the State Department has said," a spokesman commented, "we remain steadfast in our commitment to our alliance with South Korea, with whom we will continue to coordinate closely."

Even without concrete results, analysts say the marathon session has delayed any further military activity and given the two Koreas added time to look for a peaceful end to the current crisis. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, here is another serious threat of war by nations with nuclear power, eventually involving many other nations - including ours -- in a 'deadly' war. We lift up praise that meetings are being held to try and diffuse the confrontation at the border between North and South Korea. We raise thanks up to You that these meetings are delaying any further military action at this time. We ask that You direct Your remnant as to how to pray to further diffuse this issue, praying this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

"For God is not the author of confusion but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:33)

7. Sen. Lee: WH Hasn't Responded to Congressional Inquiries Regarding EPA's Toxic Spill - CNSNews.com

Neither the White House nor the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - the federal agency tasked with protecting public health and the country's natural resources - have responded to inquiries sent by members of Congress from states impacted by the EPA's toxic chemical spill in Colorado two weeks ago, a spokesperson with Sen. Mike Lee's (R-UT) office told CNSNews.com.

Senate and House members from Utah, New Mexico and Colorado have sent letters to President Barack Obama and EPA Inspector General Arthur Elkins, Jr. seeking accountability for the estimated three million gallons of toxic mine waste EPA employees released into Western waterways.

In an Aug. 19 letter to Elkins, all the senators from the states of Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, including Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO), Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM), Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO), pointed out that "the release of contaminated water from this legacy mine has polluted the Animas River in Colorado and spread through New Mexico, Utah, the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and the Navajo Nation." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, it seems that getting answers and acknowledgement of responsibility for what has occurred with this toxic spill is becoming more and more difficult within our national government. Help us, Father, we pray, in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "It is a joy for the just to do justice, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity." (Proverbs 21:15)

8. Thousands of Americans Protest Against Planned Parenthood at Over 300 Clinics in All 50 States for #ProtestPP - Christian Post

RICHMOND, Va., - Thousands of Americans protested outside Planned Parenthood clinics throughout the United States Saturday morning to speak out against the abortion giant that receives more than $500 million in taxpayer funding every year for its 700 clinics across the nation.

Organized by several pro-life organizations, the nationwide protest, known as the "National Day of Protest Against Planned Parenthood," was held outside over 300 clinics in all 50 states and Washington D.C.

Leslie Blackwell, regional co-coordinator with the Silent No More Awareness Campaign who emceed the Richmond protest, told The Christian Post: "We had over 500 people here and that's great. Usually you're lucky to get 10. At Forty Days for Life sometimes you might get 20, but never the crowds like this. Its been exciting, just nonstop response." (Read more)

- Father. we give You praise for this glorious report! We ask that the momentum birthed this weekend, to actively protest the funding of Planned Parenthood by our federal tax dollars would be heard by members of Congress so that these atrocities will disappear from our land. We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen and amen.

- "Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones." (Psalm 149:1)

9. StemExpress CEO Laughs: 'I've Seen Really Rampant, Rampant Problems with Bacteria in Certain Clinics' - Breitbart

A transcript released by Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden features StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer - who purchased most of her company's aborted baby parts from Planned Parenthood clinics - laughing about the unsanitary conditions in some of those clinics.

According to the transcript, Dyer tells a buyer that StemExpress (SE) does testing on the aborted baby parts.

While StemExpress recently cut its ties with Planned Parenthood following the release of multiple videos exposing the harvest and sale of aborted baby organs, the transcript indicates Dyer says she views Planned Parenthood as a great support because her company has been viewed as a "champion of the cause." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we fall before You alone in repentance and horror at how this CEO of Stem Express thinks that laughing over filth in Planned Parenthood clinics, and over murdered and chopped up baby parts, is okay. We do lift up praise to You that the darkness is being exposed for many to see and to understand the wickedness of those involved in the 'abortion industry'. We pray for Your Truth and Justice to triumph, so that life, not death, may be served. We pray this in Jesus' Name and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "All my bones shall say, 'Lord, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?'" (Psalm 35:10)

10. Wildfires Force New Evacuation Orders in Washington State - Voice of America

Emergency officials extended evacuation orders to two more towns threatened by a deadly array of wildfires in north-central Washington state as dozens of blazes swirled across the drought-parched Pacific Northwest and surrounding regions.

President Barack Obama signed a federal declaration of emergency for Washington state on Friday,

authorizing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate relief efforts in 11 counties and several Indian reservations hard hit by wildfires. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we seek Your mercy, comfort and peace for all involved in these horrific out of control wildfires in Washington state. We weep for the loss of firefighters' lives that have already occurred and for the loss of so many homes. We ask for Your direction to be understood by those managing the response to these fires so that they will soon be brought under control. Lord God, we also pray today for a miracle: let there be deluges of rainstorms over all affected areas, quenching these fires. We are praying this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "I know that I will live to see the Lord's goodness in this present life. Trust in the Lord, have faith, do not despair. Trust in the Lord." (Psalm 27:13-14 Good News Bible)

Dow down 531; the end is not yet

McClatchy news reports: "The 531-point drop in the Dow on Friday wasn't all about China, of course. Investors also are worried about inflated equity prices, dropping oil prices, and the possibility the US Federal Reserve could soon approve an interest rate hike. But China's economic troubles loom large...Charles Morrison, an Asia-Pacific expert who heads the East West Center in Honolulu [said]... "the Chinese manufacturing slowdown is a data point that creates concerns worldwide, because China's manufacturing sucks up so much of the world's resources."" There are many predicting that the US stock market may be an indicator of what is called the "Tribulation." But not so fast...

Has the US replaced Israel and the Middle East as the centerpiece of God's end time plan? It can not, if you believe the holy scriptures are the inerrant and infallible word of God. The market crashing in the US, or economic and political chaos in America does not a Biblical "tribulation" make. America is not Israel. The Jerusalem of the Bible is not located in America. The United States may well be playing a role and might well play a role in hastening the end times by its actions and current position as a world power. But economic turmoil in the US is not the "Tribulation" nor is it the times of Jacob's Troubles as described in Jeremiah 30 and referred to by other prophets such as Daniel, Isaiah, Hosea and Joel.

Jesus gives us a picture of the end times in Matthew 24 when his disciples ask "what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?" First Jesus replied, "Take heed that no man deceive you." He then described the events leading up to his return: False prophets, persecution, abomination of desolation, great tribulation, and His return. He speaks specifically about Israel, saying in verses 15-21, "When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place...Then let them who are in Judea flee into the mountains...For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

All the prophets are consistent. The epicenter of the end times is in Israel, not the United States. The specific nations that come against Israel in the end times are Arab--descendants of Ishmael and Esau--who are traditional enemies of Israel. These events are not centered on unmentioned nations such as Russia or America (although they may play a role). They are centered on Israel. America and Americans are going to suffer the consequences of their leaders' deplorable moral and economic decisions. We should gird ourselves appropriately. I know this will ruffle a lot of feathers, but America is not THE main indicator of the end times. It is Israel. While it may get bad in America, Israel is the real timepiece for the end times. To say or teach otherwise is to deny the law and the prophets, and the Messiah, Jesus, himself.

Whether it is the Islamic State or drug cartels, which are often Islamic fronts because Islam is a worldwide trader of drugs and humans, the US has an issue that is paramount to our national security. The "president" refuses to uphold the law and secure the borders, AND the "congress" refuses to hold him accountable to the law. The White House and Congress are giving our nation over to Islam, illegal aliens and drug cartels--literally ceding our land to them. Proverbs 21:10 says, "The soul of the wicked desires evil." Do the wicked desire evil more than the people of God desire righteousness? When will every pulpit in every church in America decide to engage with this dark and dying world and hold accountability to righteousness? Much of the "church" has lost its savor and the nation lacks for it.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

1. Terrorist In French Train Attack Laughs, Says He Was Just Trying To Rob People, Father Says He's A 'Good Boy' - Daily Mail UK

Thwarted train gunman Ayoub El Khazzani has laughed at accusations he was trying to carry out a terrorist attack on the Amsterdam to Paris express, his lawyer has claimed.

Morocco-born El Khazzani, 26, says he does not see why his actions on the Thalys train on Friday have caused such an outcry and insisted that he was only interested in 'robbing the passengers'.

His lawyer, Sophie David, said the gunman appeared 'very, very thin and very haggard' when she met with him at a police station in Arras, northern France. Meanwhile, the suspect's father defended him as a 'good boy' today, and insisted that he would never want to kill anyone. (Read more)

2. Muslim Invaders Scream Allahu Akbar While Attacking Police At German "Refugee" Hostel
- Breitbart

Riot police were forced to fall back and barricade themselves inside a building as the intensity of sectarian violence grew around a refugee centre in Germany last night.

The riot turned Thuringa, Germany into a warzone on Wednesday after "religious differences" between different Muslim sects over their interpretation of the Koran led to mass demonstrations at an asylum centre in the town. The building was trashed, with windows smashed, doors and stud walls demolished and furniture destroyed. Eighteen, including six police officers, had to seek hospital treatment. (Read more)

3. GERMANY: Illegal alien Muslim savages riot over alleged torn quran at detention center - The Malaysian Insider

At least 10 people were injured in a riot at a refugee shelter in central Germany over a torn quran, police said today, in fresh tensions as the country braces to host 800,000 asylum seekers this year.

Violence erupted after about 20 refugees in the overcrowded shelter went in pursuit of another resident yesterday, accusing him of ripping pages out of a Quran, local police said. The man was eventually saved by the shelter's guards as well as police, prompting the mob to turn their anger on the security forces.

About 50 people armed with steel rods began throwing stones at the officers, leaving at least 10 people injured, including three police. Windows were smashed, furniture flung out of windows and even dividing walls in the shelter hacked down in the rampage that lasted several hours in the town of Suhl in Thuringia. (Read more)

The trial of a Kissimmee Muslim youth center director was delayed until January 2016 at a hearing Tuesday morning.

Helmi Agha, 40, was executive director of the American Muslim Youth Leadership Council when he was arrested in March and accused inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl who attended events at the center. He faced 12 counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, though four of those have since been dropped.

7. Nuke Deal or Not, Iran Has Already Declared War on Us - Gatestone Institute

Iran has been at war with the "Great Satan" (USA) since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979. Its opening move was the regime's seizure of the American Embassy and its taking U.S. diplomats hostage for 444 days in 1979-1980. Technically, the move was an internationally recognized casus belli, legitimate cause for war.

In addition, the Iranian regime's proxy terrorist group, Hezbollah, engineered the murder of 241 U.S. soldiers, sailors, and marines in Lebanon on October 23, 1983. Iran also sponsored the truck bombing that murdered 19 US Air Force personnel at the Khobar Towers housing complex in Saudi Arabia on June 25, 1996, in an attack allegedly executed by a Bahrain-based cell of Hezbollah, with the cooperation of a Saudi-trained Hezbollah cell. Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

MARCHING TO ZION

"Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion." (Jeremiah 31:6)

Lyrics

Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.

Refrain

We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.

The sorrows of the mind
Be banished from the place;
Religion never was designed
Religion never was designed,
To make our pleasures less,
To make our pleasures less.

Refrain

Let those refuse to sing,
Who never knew our God;
But favorites of the heavenly King,
But favorites of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad.

Signs and Wonders

Get ready for a SUPERWINTER (at least if you believe Old Farmer's Almanac)

Publication predicts record setting cold spells

Just when you thought you had gotten over last winter, be warned: The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts it will be super cold with a slew of snow for much of the country, even in places that don't usually see too much of it, like the Pacific Northwest.

It says there will be above-normal snow and below-normal temperatures for much of New England; icy conditions in parts of the South; and frigid weather in the Midwest.

The snowiest periods in the Pacific Northwest will be in mid-December, early to mid-January and mid- to late February, the almanac predicts. (Daily Mail UK and Associated Press)

The Good News Corner

Israel on Cusp of Developing Vast Natural Gas Field
Monday, 17 August 2015 | Yesterday, the Israeli cabinet passed a plan on natural offshore gas production in the Mediterranean that will reportedly launch the Jewish state as an energy superpower within the region.

Thanks to the cabinet members' overwhelming nods of approval, the quantity of natural gas produced at the existing Tamar natural gas field is set to increase promptly. Moreover, three additional gas fields are also earmarked for rapid development, giving Israel access to more gas than the Jewish state could consume in decades.

Prime Minister Netanyahu lauded the plan's approval as no less than "a historic decision . . .This decision will give Israel's citizens and the government hundreds of billions of shekels that will benefit education, health, social welfare and other national needs."

The cabinet vote comes days after government negotiators clinched a deal with the consortium, led by Israel's Delek Group and the US company Nobel Energy that controls Israel's offshore natural gas fields.

Yesterday's approved plan is an amendment of an earlier version. Changes include linking the price of gas to an energy index, which is aimed at lowering the costs for consumers.

Highlighting the advantages of the plan at a press conference last week, Netanyahu vowed that " . . . the gas that will flow to Israel will lower the cost of living, because gas is an energy that is significantly cheaper than others," he said. "And, of course, this will also help us in developing industry and the periphery and will thereby help to create new jobs, growth, a lower cost of living, employment, energy security, and a cleaner environment."

The surplus gas presents Israel with the opportunity to export natural gas to many of its neighbors. Expected to improve the balance of trade and enhance economic growth by as much as a percentage point, there is no doubt that the export of natural gas will give the Israeli economy a massive boost. Moreover, it is also expected to bolster ties between the Jewish state and "energy-hungry Egypt, Jordan and even the Palestinian Authority," The New York Times said.

"There are now extraordinary opportunities for Israel based on energy policy, both economically and diplomatically," Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon told Bloomberg Businessweek. "This is a real game-changer of common interests and benefits for many actors in the region. It could also bring about better relations with Turkey, and with other regional actors with whom Israel is not yet in close contact." (Source: Bridges for Peace)

- Give thanks to God for His abundant provision of natural gas for the nation of Israel.

- When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." (Psalm 126:1-2)
