The Middle East in Focus

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

1. Putin to Netanyahu: Iran deal will improve security in the Middle East - Jerusalem Post

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday that the deal on Iran's nuclear program would improve security in the Middle East and guaranteed that Tehran would not acquire nuclear arms.

Israel plans to lobby the US Congress not to approve the agreement clinched between Iran and world powers in Vienna earlier this month after more than a decade of negotiations.(Read more)

2. Iraqi politician calls for peace with Israel, blasts Iran and Islamic State - JNS

(JNS.org) Sunni Muslim Iraqi politician Mithal Al-Alusi, who leads the Ummah Party, told the Kuwaiti daily newspaper Al-Rai that Iraq should make peace with Israel. He also called Iran "insane" and said the Muslim world has created the Islamic State terror group by fostering a "mentality of vengeance and nullification of the other."

"Yes. Israel is a state and I support peace with it," Al-Alusi said in the interview, which was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"I want to see an [Iraqi] embassy [in Israel] and the Iraqi flag flying atop it. This is in our interest. I do not want to tie our interests [solely] to Abu Mazen" and the Palestinian Authority, he said. (Read more)

3. Netanyahu: The more one looks at the Iran accord, the worse it looks - Jerusalem Post

The more one studies the Iranian nuclear agreement, the worse it looks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday.

"The more you know about the accord, the more you oppose it," he said during a briefing with diplomatic reporters in which he passionately argued against the agreement.

Opposition to the agreement was growing in the US as well, as more questions were being asked about its details, he said, adding that the highest level of support for the deal was registered on the day it was signed, and that it has declined steadily ever since. (Read more)

4. Iraqi MP: 'Iraq should establish ties with Israel, we share interests' - Jerusalem Post

In an interview with Kuwait's daily newspaper al-Rai from earlier this month, Iraqi MP and leader of the Ummah Party, Mithal al-Alusi, called on Iraq to establish ties with Israel and expressed hope to see an Iraqi embassy in Israel at some point in the near future.

The outspoken al-Alusi, who has previously visited Israel a number of times, referred to diplomatic relations with Israel as "our [Iraqi] interest," and added that he does not want Baghdad's interests to be solely to "Abu Mazen," the name by which Mahmoud Abbas is commonly referred to in the Arab World. 5. Hamas Rejects Fatah's Demand for Control of Gaza - Israel National News

Hamas officials on Wednesday rejected demands by Fatah that the group hand over rule of Gaza as part of a reconciliation agreement, calling instead for an "uprising" against Palestinian Authority security forces, the Ma'an news agency reported.

Fatah leader Azzam al-Ahmad had said on Sunday that Hamas "foiled" efforts towards a unity government, and that the group must hand over rule of Gaza as a condition for forming the new government.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in response that the Fatah leader's comments created tension and were "untrue," blaming the failure to form a unity government on Fatah's "factionalism."(Read more)

6. PLO Official Denounces Israeli Construction as 'War Crimes' - Israel National News

A senior official from the Palestine Liberation Organization on Wednesday denounced Israel's plans to build new homes in Beit El and Jerusalem as "war crimes".

"These settlement measures and war crimes are part of a plan by Israeli leaders to impose a 'Greater Israel' on historic Palestine and destroy the two-state solution and the chance for peace," the official, Hanan Ashrawi, said, according to the AFP news agency.

The statement came after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had earlier approved the "immediate" construction of the 300 homes in Beit El and planning for another 504 homes in Jerusalem. (Read more)

7. Israel readies Iron Dome on Lebanon border as Hezbollah anticipates arms from Iran -- Fox News

HAIFA, Israel - One year after Israel's vaunted Iron Dome defense system helped protect citizens from a rocket barrage launched from Gaza, the Jewish State has deployed the shield to the north, likely amid fears Lebanon-based Hezbollah could get an infusion of cash and weapons from Iran.

In an exclusive interview with FoxNews.com, Col. Yoni Saada Marom, commander of Israel's Active Defense Air Wing, said that the military drills were not a direct reaction to recent events, but made clear that Hezbollah and other terror organizations close to Israel's borders presented a potentially heightened threat. 1. Iran Says it will ban US experts from UN nuclear inspections - The Times of Israel

Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran will only allow inspectors from countries that have diplomatic relations with it. The previously undisclosed remarks were made during a Sunday meeting with parliamentarians. "American and Canadian inspectors cannot be sent to Iran", said Araqhchi. "It is mentioned in the deal that inspectors should be from countries that have diplomatic relations with Islamic republic of Iran." He also said inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency will not have access to "sensitive and military documents."(Read More)

- O Lord, we come to You, asking that You would unmask the heart and intentions of Iran, and expose them to the UN and the world. We ask that justice would be served, and that all agreements would be canceled with this enemy. We ask it in Your Name, and for Your people, and Your sake, Amen.

-"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" (Amos 3:3)

2. Obama Cannot Alter Non-Proliferation Treaty By Executive Order,- Forbes

. . . The Iran Deal will not have the status of even a statute. As currently planned, it will not be subject to the constitutionally mandated process for Senate consent for a treaty. Nor will the Iran Deal become a statute even under the Corker-Cardin process of Congressional review. Moreover, as seems likely, the Iran Deal will result in a joint resolution that will have the support of fewer than half of the members of either house of Congress, hardly the foundation for a statute.

Congress had not seen the Iran Deal before the Corker-Cardin process was enacted and had no reason to believe that it would violate the NPT. On April 27 just before the Corker-Cardin bill was approved, Secretary Kerry remarked at the 2015 NPT meeting that "nonproliferation must be non-negotiable. There is no room under the NPT for a country to negotiate its way into becoming a nuclear-armed state. . . "Any deal with Iran will rely not on promises, not on words, but on proof. . . verification is at the heart of the NPT."

The Corker-Cardin bill established a process to review an executive order, not review a treaty amendment. No one has put forth an argument that Congress can bind itself in advance to a process to create or amend a treaty by a process different from that stated in the constitution.

Perhaps most troubling is that the Iran Deal conflicts with-indeed, violates-the NPT, an international treaty to which the United States is a signatory. . . (Read More)

- Abba, this is very interesting and enlightening. This sounds like not everyone involved in the U.S. side of this treaty were fully informed as to how such a treaty could be affected by the NPT, and how Congress could/should deal with all the legal ramifications and workings regarding the treaty. We ask for clarity, Lord, and come against all spirits of confusion. You are the Supreme Judge of the Universe, and our Advocate, and we ask You to make all of this clear to those who must deal with this very delicate situation. In Your precious Name we ask for wisdom, understanding, and discretion. Amen.

-"The crooked places shall be made straight; and the rough places smooth; The Glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it." (Isaiah 40:4b,5)

3. John Kerry: Obama Might Not Follow Law if Congress Blocks Iran Deal - National Review

(Worthy News) - Testifying before Congress this morning, Secretary of State John Kerry refused to pledge to follow the law in the event that Congress rejects the deal he negotiated with Iran, the National Review reported.

"Let's say Congress doesn't take your advice, we override a veto, and the law that's triggered then imposes certain sanctions," Representative Brad Sherman (D., Calif.) asked during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing. "Will you follow the law even though you think it violates this agreement clearly and even if you think it's absolutely terrible policy?"

Kerry demurred. "I can't begin to answer that at this point without consulting with the president and determining what the circumstances are," he said.

~Father, we bring this whole situation to You. We have a lawless president, as he has demonstrated previously. We are concerned that he is determined to have his way, at the expense of his own nation, and the will of the people. We ask You to "hem him in" and shine Your light on his deeds, and that he be held accountable. We come against any devious plans of the enemy of our souls, any confusion, any "traps", and pray instead for lawfulness, clarity, and walking in the light. Amen.

-" The city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its Light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there)." (Revelation 21:23-25)

4. New Report Confirms Finding of Citizens' Commission on Benghazi - Canada Free Press

Citizens' Commission on Benghazi (CCB) member Clare Lopez, believes that in 2011 Hillary Clinton's State Department was orchestrating its own gun running operation to the Libyan rebels-and that arms dealer Marc Turi has been set up to take the fall for these "illicit arms deals." (Read More)

~Lord of Truth and Justice, we come to You asking that You would shine Your light in all the dark corners of this horrible incident that took place in Benghazi with the murder of our Ambassador and our Navy seals. This smacks of underhanded betrayal, not only of those men, but also the American people and our national interests. These were honorable men, and we pray that You would reveal publicly any and all persons involved in this horrific crime. We welcome Your truth, and pray for Your justice and mercy, and may the responsible people be held accountable, not only in the "after-life", but also now. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

-"Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of Heaven, all of Whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down. (Daniel 4:37)

5. Planned Parenthood Abortionist Talks 'Intact Specimens' in 4th Undercover Video: Look, 'Its a Baby . . It's Another Boy' - Christian Post

The Center for Medical Progress has released its fourth undercover video shining a light on Planned Parenthood's controversial aborted baby parts compensation practices, which purports to show a vice president of the organization negotiating a deal and discussing how to avoid legal consequences.

The video, which was released on Thursday, allegedly shows Vice President and Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Dr. Savita Ginde, discussing illicit compensation for aborted baby parts, the sale of such parts across state lines, and the importance of having Planned Parenthood affiliates and its legal teams on the same page so that such transactions look good in the eye of the "public sector."

The new video shows two investigators posing as tissue procurement officers for a human biologics company discussing the possibility of securing only "intact specimens" with Ginde during a visit to a Denver "mega-abortion clinic" headquarters on April 7 of this year.

During the conversation, the undercover investigators asked how many intact specimens, meaning intact organs, does the clinic get in each day. Ginde replies by saying somewhere between three and seven and that about 10 percent of the specimens are intact.

"Sometimes, if we get, if someone delivers before we are able to see them for a procedure, then we are intact," Ginde quipped. (Read More)

~Lord, this is horrifying to read, or even think about! How it must grieve Your heart, and ours. What can we do to stop this evil? We come to You, our precious Savior, and the Creator of these wonderful little babies, and we weep with You for their precious little lives. We thank You that we believe they are in Your Fatherly arms, and You and Your angelic hosts comfort them. Father, we also know that Your heart is broken over these abortionists, many of whom do not know what they are doing. We pray mercy for them and repentance. Forgive them for spilling this innocent blood, of these little ones, and also Your innocent blood that was shed to cover their sin, and ours. We ask, Holy Spirit will open their eyes, and convict them and draw them into Your arms of forgiveness that they may repent, and receive You as their Redeemer, we pray. We ask that this wicked group, who is doing these things will be stopped now. Amen.

- "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.""(Jeremiah 17:9)

6. Senate approves six-year highway bill - News from The Hill

The Senate passed its long-term highway bill Thursday, though their work on federal infrastructure funding isn't over .Senators voted 65-34 to approve the six-year bill, which funds federal highway and infrastructure projects for three years.

Democrats were split on the measure, with most of the caucus's leadership voting against the bill negotiated by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY.) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).

In the meantime, the House has approved a three-month stopgap measure that the Senate is expected to approve later on Thursday. The legislation also faces an uncertain future with the House, which has committed to passing its own long-term highway bill after the August recess.

That legislation also addresses a budget shortfall at the Department of Veterans Affairs.(Read More)

- Father, thank You that another crisis was averted, or at least post-poned for the Department of Veteran Affairs, and other entities with this stop-gap measure on the highway bill. We ask that much thought and planning would be taken in regard to a more permanent solution to this problem. You, in Your Word, have advised us to "count the cost" before we begin a project, so that we will be able to finish it with honor. We know costs are continually escalating, and so we pray for a timely solution to be enacted. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

- "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, 'This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.'" (Luke 14:28-30)

The Daily Jot

The stand of accountability

On January 18, 2002, when I wrote the first Daily Jot, there were maybe one or two prophetic-related events per month. Over the years, these events increased to perhaps one a week. Then several a week. Then one a day. And, now, sometimes so many that it is difficult to pick which to write about. Irrespective of your eschatology, it is difficult to deny that we are living in an exciting prophetic time. Hardly dinner table conversation in 2002, today the conversation doesn't even have to drift to to the Biblical significance of the day's events at our dinner table with family or friends. It gets there naturally and sometimes very quickly. I believe beyond a doubt that we are watching Biblical prophecies take shape.

From the Caliphate in the Middle East to the US president as a catalyst to Islamic dominance, it is not difficult now to see how the epic end time battle of Ezekiel 38 takes shape and waits suspended for the LORD to set it in motion. World powers, such as the United States under the leadership of godless men and women, are shifting. They are abandoning traditional roles of standing in the breech for Israel and for holding the violent Islamic aggression at bay. Instead, they have taken the approach of engagement, aiding and abetting, tolerance and allowance of this aggression to be played out by the hands of brutal men who give new meaning to the contemporary definition of the word "terrorist."

The "church" is divided as much on doctrine as it is on who is Jesus Christ. Self indulgence, emotionalism, and extra-biblical, even non-biblical teaching, has replaced sound doctrine in much of the church. Discussions on doctrine and theology often are now argued in terms of who wrote what book that is currently popular, instead of the context of the word of God. This is 2 Timothy 4:3,4 playing out: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." This opens the door to great deception.

I cannot urge you enough to study the word of God on your own. Teachers, preachers, and others who self-proclaim their church offices will not stand in your place before the Lord on Judgement Day. It will be you, and you alone. You won't be able to quote passages from some so-called Bible teacher in your defense. It will be about your relationship with the LORD. With the exponential increase in events that can be related to prophecy and the desire of the masses to chase after the newest opinion on scripture, I now have a fuller understanding of what Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 2:12 to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Read the Word in its context. Get close to Jesus. We are living in prophetic times.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
