The Daily Brief

1. Iran says reactor at Bushehr nuclear plant has reached full capacity - AP

Iran's sole operational nuclear power reactor has reached full capacity, a senior official said Saturday.

- Lord, we pray that Iran's nuclear power would be used for peaceful energy purposes. May Your people increase in the use of the power You have given us in the Spirit, to overcome works of the enemy. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven. (Luke 10: 19-20)

2. World food prices jumped 10 percent in July-World Bank - Reuters

World food prices jumped 10 percent in July as drought parched crop lands in the United States and Eastern Europe, the World Bank said in a statement urging governments to shore up programs that protect their most vulnerable populations.

- Lord, we pray that people will come to the knowledge of You, to repentance, to righteousness, and right relationship with You, so that we may again have provision in the land. Forgive us, Oh Lord. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house, Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands. (Haggai 1: 10-11)

3. Days after Isaac, flooding and outages remain - Fox News

Much of a finger-shaped parish southeast of New Orleans was still covered with floodwater Sunday and more than 200,000 people across Louisiana still didn't have any power, five days after Isaac ravaged the state. Thousands of evacuees remained at shelters or bunked with friends or relatives.

- Lord, we pray for these who are still suffering from Isaac. We pray that You would bring ministry to them. We pray for Your people who are bringing help to them, for open doors, protection, words from You, and a harvest of souls. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- And He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'(Matthew 4:4)

4. Correspondence and collusion between the New York Times and the CIA - UK Guardian

The rightwing transparency group, Judicial Watch, released Tuesday a new batch of documents showing how eagerly the Obama administration shoveled information to Hollywood film-makers about the Bin Laden raid. Obama officials did so to enable the production of a politically beneficial pre-election film about that "heroic" killing, even as administration lawyers insisted to federal courts and media outlets that no disclosure was permissible because the raid was classified.

- Lord, we pray for protection for those that might be harmed from the release of security or classified information. We pray that the people of this country would come to a true understanding of what is happening in this situation. We pray for a President, and national leaders who take right actions. Save us from those leaders who act for selfish gain. In the name of Jesus we pray. We thank You for groups that are keeping watch, and for those who are praying. Amen.

- Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21: 36)

5. Feds end probe of 'America's toughest sheriff' Joe Arpaio; no charges - MSNBC

The federal government has closed a criminal probe of alleged financial misconduct by Arizona lawman Joe Arpaio, who styles himself as "America's toughest sheriff," and no charges will be filed, the U.S. Attorney's Office said on Friday.

- Thank You, Lord, for the end of this probe and no charges. We pray for continual protection for Joe Arpaio. We pray that the U.S. Attorney's Office make upright judgments. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Let my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright. (Psalm 17:2)

6. US Preparing for a Post-Israel Middle East? - Foreign Policy Journal

This paper . . . is an 82-page analysis that concludes that the American national interest in fundamentally at odds with that of Zionist Israel. The authors conclude that Israel is currently the greatest threat to US national interests because its nature and actions prevent normal US relations with Arab and Muslim countries and, to a growing degree, the wider international community. (Read more.)

- If this paper is true, and becomes more than a "draft statement," the implications for the future of our own nation are disastrous. Cry out to God and ask Him to place the very paper that this travesty is written upon, under the shredder of His grace, that it go no further than the report cited in this article. For more analysis of its contents, please refer to THE DAILY JOT, below.
- "But suddenly, your ruthless enemies will be crushed like the finest of dust.
Your many attackers will be driven away like chaff before the wind.
Suddenly, in an instant,
I, the Lord of Heaven's Armies, will act for you
with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and storm
and consuming fire.
All the nations fighting against Jerusalem will vanish like a dream!"

(Isaiah 29:5-7 NLT)

4. Vandals spray 'Jesus is a monkey' in Latrun price-tag hit - Jerusalem Post

Right-wing extremists spray-painted anti-Christian graffiti and set the wooden door of the Latrun Monastery on fire overnight Tuesday, marking the first "price-tag" attack since police evacuated the Migron outpost earlier this week.

6. Statement From Ambassador Michael Oren denounces desecration of Latrun Monastery - Embassy of Israel; Washington, D.C.
"I thoroughly denounce and deeply regret the desecration of the Latrun Monastery. This sacred site is visited each year by a great many Israelis, and we cherish it as part of our national heritage. Israel's relationship with its Christian community and its unequivocal commitment to the freedom of religion leaves no room for such deplorable acts. On behalf of the Government of Israel, I assure that no effort will be spared to identify and punish those responsible."

Prophetic Foreign Policy Red Line

There are signs in the American and Israeli relationship that the United States is switching sides from an ally of Israel to merely a diplomatic interest in deference to support for Islamic nations, including a Middle East without an Israel, called a "Post-Israel Middle East." Bringing much of this to a head is the White House giving little, if any, support to Israeli intentions to strike Iran before it is able to develop a nuclear bomb. Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey recently said that an Israeli strike would "delay, but probably not destroy" Iran's nuclear program and that he didn't "want to be complicit" in an Israeli attack. But there is a far deeper red line that is about to be crossed.

There has been a reluctance on the part of the occupant of the Oval Office to commit to supporting Israel against Iran. Yet, there is no clear "red line" (as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls it) established by the international community that it will not permit Iran to cross. There are signs that if Israel does a preemptive attack on Iran, that the US will not support it, neither will other nations in the surrounding area. For nearly a decade, the international community has drawn many lines in the sand that Iran has crossed in its quest to have the nuclear bomb. This White House, however, is about to release a document that explains the true red line of US-Israeli relations.
According to Foreign Policy Journal's Franklin Lamb, sources within the CIA have specifically pointed to a yet unreleased 82 page paper entitled "Preparing For A Post Israel Middle East," which concludes that Israel is the greatest threat to US national interests because it prevents normal US relations with Arab and Muslim countries. It also indicates, according to Lamb, that Americans have more in common with the people of Iran than Israel. If Lamb's sourcing is accurate, the CIA analysis reads like an Islamic propaganda document calling Israel a "failed democratic state," an "increasingly apartheid regime," and an "illegitimate, immoral and unsustainable European occupation of Palestine." It calls for the withdrawal of US support of Israel.
This document, if it is truly sourced, could very well serve as the justification of the Administration's foreign policy toward the Middle East--the sister document to the occupant of the Oval Office's "New beginning" speech in Cairo June 4, 2009. It also is consistent with this Administration's support of al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood overthrowing Middle East governments in the name of "democracy." A new red line HAS been crossed in US foreign policy. The US is supporting the radicalization of the very nations named in the Bible that will come against Jerusalem in the end times. If the American people allow this to continue, there is clear prophecy of the consequences: Zechariah 12:9, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem."
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

63 Days to Election Day

Top Democrats to Skip Party's Convention

As Democrats descend on Charlotte, N.C., this week to light a fire under President Obama's re-election campaign, a few of the biggest names in the party will not be there.

While party honchos like former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter are set to take the stage, other Democratic heros such as Al Gore and Hillary Clinton are staying far from Charlotte. And with hotly contested House and Senate races peppered across the map, many Democratic members of Congress have swapped convention parties for campaign events.

Here's a look at some of the Democrats who've decided to skip their party's biggest gathering. (ABC News)

Breaking!

With teachers' strike possibly looming, Emanuel trims his DNC trip - Fox News
The Chicago Teachers Union is shaping up to be Mayor Rahm Emanuel's toughest opponent. The former Obama White House chief of staff has trimmed his Democratic National Convention visit with the very real threat of the city's public school teachers going out on strike come Monday.

When asked about the strike threat Tuesday, the usually eager-to-engage mayor instead continued greeting children arriving at Shields Middle School. Today was the first day of school for some 400,000 school-aged kids in Chicago.

Emanuel will arrive in Charlotte late Tuesday to make a speech at the convention. But instead of staying through President Obama's speech on Thursday, Mayor Emanuel will return Wednesday night. The mayor's spokeswoman, Sarah Hamilton, said the Obama campaign asked Emanuel to host a speech-watch party for campaign staffers in Chicago. (Read more)

A Warning from Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris issues dire warning for America

"Our country as we know it may be lost forever"

America's favorite action star and his wife are doing just that this election, releasing a public service announcement - unveiled exclusively at WND just moments ago - that issues a call to resist the socialism that could take America from us forever.

America's favorite action star is doing just that this election - calling on evangelical Christians across the nation to join him in crushing the creep of socialism under President Obama.
Norris and his wife, Gena, have filmed a public service announcement, unveiled exclusively at WND, wherein the two urge Christians to help save the country in November.
"We are here to talk about a growing concern we all share," Chuck Norris explains. "If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack. We're at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don't change the course in which our country is headed."
Gena warns that voter apathy among evangelicals in 2008 may have contributed to Obama's election in the first place.

"With our country at a crossroads, Chuck and I have asked ourselves what we can be doing to help support this great country we're blessed to live in and how we can encourage our like-minded American brothers and sisters to unite and let their voices be heard," she said. "It is estimated that in the 2008 election, 30 million evangelical Christians stayed home on voting day and Obama won the election by 10 million votes."

Obama and Israel

Obama Throws Israel To The "Islamic Wolves"

There were several disturbing reports over the weekend suggesting that Obama has severely undercut Israel's position as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu weighs his options for dealing with Iran's nuclear weapons program.

Time reported Friday that a major joint military exercise between Israel and the United States is being dramatically scaled back. The exercise has already been delayed once. Rescheduled to take place next month, we are now learning that instead of 5,000 U.S. troops, maybe only 1,200 will participate. The Time report adds:

"Patriot antimissile systems will arrive in Israel as planned, but the crews to operate them will not. Instead of two Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense warships being dispatched to Israeli waters, the new plan is to send one."

With each passing day, the tension between the U.S. and Israel grows. In fact, Israel's confidence in Obama is so low that, according to Time, Prime Minister Netanyahu has requested a written pledge from President Obama "committing to U.S. military action by a specific date" if Iran continues with its nuclear weapons program. Prime Minister Netanyahu is still waiting for a reply.

Unfortunately, the news gets worse. Ynetnews reported yesterday that the Obama Administration has recently communicated with Iran through "covert back-channels in Europe." Is Obama sending Iran a last-minute stern warning to abandon its nuclear program? No.

The message that was reportedly relayed to Tehran is that the U.S. will not back an Israeli strike against Iran so long as Iran refrains from retaliating against U.S. interests in the Middle East. If this report is accurate, Obama has just thrown Israel under the proverbial bus.

Nobody wants another war. But if Iran believes the U.S. and Israel are divided, then war is more likely. Upon hearing this message, the mullahs must have thought to themselves, "Praise Allah, the Americans are weaker than we thought!" To Israel, the message is "You're on your own. We won't stand with you."

But ask yourself this question: Is there a leader on this planet, if faced with an existential threat from an avowed enemy, who wouldn't act to preempt such a threat? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly denied the Holocaust and repeatedly promised a second Holocaust by threating to "wipe Israel off the map." His scientists are now working furiously on the very weapons that would enable his "dream" to become a reality.

How long should Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli people hold their breath hoping the jihadists who control Iran will have a change of heart? (Gary Bauer)

A Message from Joel Rosenberg

WHAT IS THE EPIC FAILURE OF THE AMERICAN CHURCH?

The failure to make disciples. How can you & I get back on track?

Joel C. Rosenberg

(Syracuse, New York, September 4, 2012) -- Every Christian needs to be able to answer two simple questions: 1) Who is investing in you? and 2) Who are you investing in?

In the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20, our Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to go and "make disciples of all nations," beginning with our own. Sadly, the American Church is experiencing an epic failure of discipleship. Most older believers are not spiritually investing in the lives of younger believers. We are failing to model and transmit Biblical truth and Christ-like character and a passion for evangelism and discipleship to the next generations, and thus the American Church is weak and failing and in desperate need of revival.

This weekend, my family and I and several young people we have discipled had the joy of attending the memorial service and burial of Dr. T. E. Koshy. Dr. Koshy is the man who discipled me -- the man who invested in me spiritually - at Syracuse University when I studied there as an undergraduate, and in the years since. Dr. Koshy got it. He understand the power and purpose of Biblical discipleship. Koshy understood that making healthy, devout, faithful disciples is the only way the Church grows and matures over the long haul. It is not enough just to make Christians. We must make true followers of Christ who are fully committed to obeying all that Christ taught His original disciples. Koshy understood the importance of spiritually investing in others, because a great man of God once invested heavily into him. It changed him. It marked him. It made him committed not just to eternal life (John 3:16), and the abundant life (John 10:10), but also to the invested life (Matthew 25:14-30).
On my blog, I have posted a link to the webcast of the memorial service, which was held at North Syracuse Baptist Church. There were many wonderful, moving tributes to this dear man of God, this great friend and disciple-maker. You'll learn so much listening to them all. I was honored to deliver the eulogy towards the end of the service. My remarks run about 40 minutes and begin at 1:57:54 into the program. I shared some personal memories of the man who was more like the Apostle Paul than any person I have ever known, including the amusing story of how we first met, how he invested in me, as well as some anecdotes from the preaching tours we did through Israel, India, and Iraq.
In addition, I shared about the final project that we worked on together, a book that has just been released called, "The Invested Life: Making Disciples Of All Nations One Person At A Time." What is this book about? Why did we write it? Why is discipleship so important? What made Dr. Koshy so remarkably qualified to speak to this topic? I share the answers to these questions during this message and why the concept of spiritual investing became so special and personal and urgent for me. I do hope you'll take some time to watch and listen, and to read this new book and share it with others.
Sadly, much of the American Church seems to have forgotten Christ's "Great Commission." Most American believers don't really know what a disciple is, or how to make one, nor have they ever made one. Yet our Lord Jesus commanded us to "make disciples of all nations" -- it was one of His most important commandments to His followers just before He returned to the Father. We desperately need to rediscover the lost art of making disciples. Dr. Koshy understood this deeply. He taught my wife and me, and now, through this message and this new book, we are seeking to pass along what we have learned over the years.
Who is investing in you? Who are you investing in? Do you have answers to these vital questions? May the Lord bless you richly as you considered these eternal truths and how to apply them in your own life and ministry.

The Good News Corner

The Good News Corner:

DNC kickoff protest lively but largely uneventful

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The kickoff protest ahead of the Democratic National Convention had the benefit of sunny skies, pent-up demand from demonstrators who were rained out in Florida and the perfect setting to decry the practices of big business.

But while Sunday's March on Wall Street South was spirited, it drew only a fraction of the turnout organizers were expecting and was as free of mayhem as protests a week earlier outside the Republican National Convention in Tampa. The march had been planned as the centerpiece of the week's protests.

Charlotte Police estimated that 800 people joined the march, but there was only one arrest. Taking their cue from police in Tampa, many officers were seen smiling and chatting with demonstrators. Two attempts to be disruptive outside of major corporate offices were largely ignored by officers. Charlotte hosts several Fortune 500 companies including the headquarters of America's largest electricity provider and second-largest bank.

The march's general purpose was to decry corporate influence in politics, but it drew people demonstrating for a variety of causes. Marchers carried signs and banners, banged drums and chanted in a louder and livelier display than Tampa protests that were lashed by the outer bands of Hurricane Isaac. (AP) Read more.

Another answer to our strategic prayers!

(This letter was written to the intercessors who are working on site to bring the Lord's presence in Charlotte this week. We believe that the thanks written to those saints by Mary Medford must go to all 4,000 of you, too, as you also have been "praying without ceasing over the events in that city this week. As you have prayed, the saints on the ground have put "feet to your prayers" . . . even as we do daily here in Washington, D.C. when Congress is in session. Praise God!)

I want to purposefully praise the LORD for all that He has done in Charlotte and the Carolinas! All glory, praise and honor goes to our Father and King of Charlotte - the LORD Jesus Christ! Let us rejoice and be glad, for the King is in the Field, and He has been welcomed into the Carolinas in great splendor! This is an answer to every prayer network's efforts to pray praise, and release sound into the heavens and the earth : Carolina Strategic Prayer Alliance, Aglow-NC, Houses of Zion - NC, HAPN/RPN - North Carolina & South Carolina (and countless others that we don't even know about)! I thank God for the synergy that these networks and others working together in unity released in prayer together! This is the fulfillment of 2 Chr 20: 21-22, that the LORD promised!

Teams were sent from the above networks to pray, decree, release prophetic sound and blow the shofar at all 3 parks over the last several weeks where protesters are allowed to stay and "occupy" (Frazier, Marshall and Pearl) and to also pray and praise drive and blow the shofar around the Uptown Charlotte area 7x on Monday night, culminating with communion, remembering what the LORD Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. I praise God for the Warrior Watchmen that He has raised in our midst for such a time as this!
I also praise Our King Jesus for the Charlotte 714 event that also put praise into the atmosphere of Charlotte yesterday! We saw the winds pick up during the time of repentance for the Church and then the rain fell! The King came through our camp and profoundly let His Presence be known! The screen behind the stage waved back and forth visibly, especially when there was repentance by the Church for its sins and inquities! There was spiritual breakthrough!
