While Standard and Poor's recently downgraded its U.S. debt outlook to negative from stable, implying that a ratings cut could happen in two years, one independent ratings agency has given the U.S. sovereign rating a "C".

- Lord, help the United States improve its debt rating. Give our leaders ideas and concepts on controlling spending. Help us become a nation of producers rather than consumers. That we would take responsibility of our spending not only on a national level, but also on a personal level.

- And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship. (Exodus 31:3)

5. EU super-watchdog warns economic crisis 'far from over' - EU Observer

The EU's economic super-watchdog has warned that "many risks" remain to the stability of the EU's financial system and that the global crisis will last for many more years to come.

- Father, we intercede over this global economy. Continue to give wisdom on this issue. We pray against greed and manipulation. We pray stability over homes and families who are struggling financially. Give us witty inventions and ideas during this crisis.

- Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. (Proverbs 3:13-14)

"Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto Your name give glory, for Your mercy, and for Your truth's sake. Why should the nations say, Where is their God? But our God is in the heavens. He has done whatever He has pleased." (Psalm 115:1-3)

The Daily Jot

Now is the time to strike

The man who occupies the Oval Office and his political advisors were hoping for a big boost in popularity with the Osama bin Laden news. In announcing the death of bin Laden, the president took every bit of credit he could without appearing as if he were the one who fired the shots. He said, "...I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability...After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

Recent polls suggest that the president's approval rating, in the negatives, remained the same. For example, a Rasmussen poll showed that 37% of Americans strongly disapprove of the president, while only 24% strongly approve of the job he is doing. This is a minus 13 approval differential. And his overall approval is at 48% according to Rasmussen. In my political days, we knew that if an opponent, especially an incumbent, fell below 50% approval, he was in deep trouble. It would appear that Americans are very skeptical about this president and his Administration. It would appear that public opinion has moved from a cautious attitude toward this White House to one of cynicism and skepticism.

Yet in the wake of these numbers and increasing numbers of Americans expressing distrust with this administration, there has been no proof offered of bin Laden's killing. This Administration also took four years to "release" the president's birth certificate, which has been regarded as a fake by numerous forensic experts. A large number of Americans still do not believe that he is Constitutionally eligible to hold the office. As the days unfold, the president still has not released proof positive of the bin Laden operation. His advisors do not want to release pictures, fearing the peaceful Muslim religion will retaliate with a vengeance. How brave they are until they have to provide the world with their evidence.

Americans by and large no longer have confidence that their government is telling the truth. Too many "spins" have accumulated over the years. The Lord is giving the Christian community, who knows the truth, an opportunity to reestablish truth and accountability in the American government. It is time to strike with the full force of accountability through righteousness. As Paul wrote in Romans 13:12, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." We must stand on what we know is right. We must speak boldly as we ought to speak. We must overcome evil with good. The citizens of this country are ready to listen.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Bury This Nonsense

When I first heard that bin Laden was buried at sea, my reaction was, "Smart move!" The last thing we needed was for his burial site to become a shrine and symbol for his Islamic sympathizers. But now we know more details, and they are outrageous.

Bin Laden was given a full Muslim funeral on the USS Carl Vinson. In accordance with Islamic practice, his body was carefully washed and wrapped in a white sheet. A Muslim cleric reportedly read from the Koran. All of this, according to unnamed sources at the White House and Pentagon, was done to avoid outraging Muslims worldwide.

This is political correctness run amok! From the day he took office, President Obama and his top officials have insisted that Al Qaeda and the other jihadist organizations have nothing to do with authentic Islam. They insist that bin Laden is trying to hijack Islam, which is, they assure us, a religion of peace.

They have pointed out that bin Laden himself is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Muslims in terror attacks on mosques teaching a brand of Islam he rejects. Then the Obama Administration honors bin Laden by burying him in accordance with Islamic law! Why would they do so if he was hijacking Islam?

Many American families never received remains of their loved ones killed at Ground Zero. They did not have the opportunity to lovingly prepare the bodies of their dead for burial. Prisoners taken by Al Qaeda and their allies are not only brutally murdered, their bodies are routinely defiled.

We are not barbarians, and I am not suggesting that we treat dead jihadists the way they treat our dead. But it is disgusting to give a mass murderer like bin Laden a burial in accordance to the dictates of Islam. The Obama Administration is still clueless and continues its pandering to the "Muslim world." (Gary Bauer)

Are They Paying Attention?

The White House and Israel: Are They Paying Attention?

Last week, the terrorist organization Hamas announced plans to merge with the Palestinian Authority. Under current law, such a merger should end U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority, but the Obama Administration is sending mixed messages. According to the Associated Press, a spokesman for the State Department confirmed that "the U.S. was continuing its assistance programs for now." Meanwhile, the administration continues reaching out to the Moslem [Cult] Brotherhood as it expands its influence throughout the Middle East.
As the White House and most Americans celebrated the death of Osama bin Laden, both Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood condemned the killing of this mass murderer. Ismail Haniyeh, leader of Hamas in Gaza, said "We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood. We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior."

In a statement released to Arab media, the Muslim [Cult] Brotherhood condemned the assassination of "Sheikh Osama bin Laden" (note the title of honor), and suggested he should have been given a trial. It went on to embrace the "resistance" against occupation. In other words, it endorsed Al Qaeda's jihad against American troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Middle East.

This administration, which constantly pressures Israel, has offended our European allies and reached out to Iran and other unsavory actors, seems to have trouble recognizing friend from foe. Perhaps these latest statements from Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood will get their attention. (Gary Bauer)

Emergency Alert

SUMMARY: After it was announced that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by special forces, a western government issued a global travel warning. Demonstrations, mass gatherings and violence are expected.

A special forces operation successfully took out al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden on May 1, 2011, almost ten-years after the 9/11 attacks. The terrorist was hiding in a million-dollar compound in northeast Pakistan.

As President Abdullah Gul of Turkey stated, "The most dangerous and sophisticated terrorist organization leader in the world being caught in this way should be a lesson to everyone." Yet demonstrations have already been reported in Pakistan, with followers of bin Laden burning American flags. Moslem hate preachers, such as Anjem Choudary have called for attacks in response to bin Laden's death. International leaders are warning that extremist Moslems may protest and could respond to bin Laden's death with violence. As one source notes, al-Qaeda will undoubtedly attempt to carry out "badala" (revenge killings) against Westerners, Pakistani Christians and Christians in general.

PRAY FOR: * peace in Pakistan and other Muslim-majority nations. Pray for the Prince of Peace to move in power in these regions. (The Bible, Isaiah 9:6)

* the protection of Christians from backlash and retaliation as radical Muslims react to bin Laden's death. (The Bible, Psalm 91:1-6)

* the inciting words of imams and hate preachers to be of no effect. Pray for the salvation of those stirring up trouble and for the salvation of key members of terrorists groups like al-Qaeda. (The Bible, I Timothy 2:1-4)

# terrorist groups to be exposed, taken into custody and brought to justice. Pray for their funding to be cut off and for recruiting efforts to fail. (The Bible, Psalm 35:5,6)

# the Lord to give world leaders wisdom in dealing with this event and the threat of violence. (The Bible, Proverbs 2:7)

# a hedge of protection around Western nations and especially members of government. Pray for the Lord to station His warring angels around President Obama and his family. (The Bible, Psalm 91:9-11)

* the current volatility and instability to be used as an opportunity to share the Truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great harvest of souls among the followers of Islam. (The Bible, John 4:35)

* the Kingdom of God to come in power, bringing transformation to the 10/40 Window. (The Bible, I Corinthians 4:20) SOURCES: LA Times, Washington Post, Associated Press

The Good News Corner:

Idaho Governor Signs Late-Term Abortion Ban into State Law

(Salmon, Idaho)-After signing a bill into law for Idaho that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, last Wednesday, Governor Butch Otter told reporters, "I am right-to-life, I have been a right-to-life candidate in government all my life."

Otter made Idaho the third state to enact such a ban. Governor Sam Brownback of Kansas also signed a bill banning late-term abortion in his state, as well as one that requires doctors to get a notarized signature from parents before an abortion could be performed on girls 17 or younger.
The late-term abortion laws are modeled after Nebraska's law, enacted in 2010, and which has not been challenged in court.

Over a dozen states are considering similar laws to limit abortions.

Research has shown that pre-born babies can feel pain beginning at 20 weeks of fetal development. (Reported by: Aimee Herd, Breaking Christian News)
