The Daily Brief - Friday, May 20, 2011

"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." (Genesis 12:3)

The Daily Brief

1. Massive "Christian Revival" in Middle East's Most Restrictive Nation - Worthy News

Thousands of Christians have participated in the first known "Christian Revival" meeting in one of the most restrictive Islamic countries of the Middle East, Worthy News established.Last month, over "10,000 Christians from all corners of the country" participated in the evangelistic gathering, intended to reawaken interest in the Christian faith, pastors and a church member confirmed in several conversations. Due to security concerns, Worthy News agreed not to name the Middle East nation, where several Christians have been detained by religious police after unauthorized worship services in homes. Some remain in prison, where they are not allowed to openly pray, according to a pastor visiting them regularly.

- Father, we thank you for the light and the hope that is spreading in the midst of the darkness of Islam. Your apostle Paul spread the truth of who You are and the Good News in the midst of much persecution. We thank you for the laborers who are willing to venture into these potentially dangerous harvest fields, and we pray for an abundance of fruit to be reaped in their harvest. Father, we are bold enough to pray for a 100% yield in this harvest field. We also pray for the protection of all who participate in this, and in future revivals/meetings.

- He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Luke 10:2).

2. No Plan B if Debt Ceiling Not Raised - Wall Street Journal

The Obama administration has no plan B in place if Congress doesn't raise the debt ceiling, an administration official said Wednesday, suggesting that absent a vote to raise the limit there is little the U.S. can do to repair the damage of a possible default.

- Father, we ask that a system of accountability for our elected and appointed leaders would be set in place. Please give wisdom to compose and enact this accountability legislation. And please remove from office those who have proven to be ineffective and dishonest, and those who do not abide by Your Word and the Constitution of the USA. Please replace them with people of integrity who will abide by Your will.

- May his (their) days (in office) be few; May another take his (their) place of leadership. (Psalm 109:8)

3. Obama hints at shift on Syria - LA Times

Tucked into Obama's speech on Arab world policy Thursday were indications of a subtle but important shift regarding the repressive rule of President Bashar Assad in Syria, a linchpin state in the Middle East that has long been considered a bulwark of stability.

- Father, we intercede for this shift of policy by this administration. We pray you guard and protect America from any unnecessary involvement in foreign governments. We pray over all decisions and future plans concerning the Syrian region.

- He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him! (Daniel 2:22)

4. Fierce forecast: Feds predict up to 10 hurricanes in 2011 - USA Today

The USA will have an "above-normal" hurricane season this year, with anywhere from 12-18 named storms to form in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, federal forecasters predicted Thursday.

- Father, we pray peace to these storms even before they form. We pray for calm waters over the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.

- Thus far shall you come and no farther: and here shall your proud waves be stayed? (Job 38:11)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"And the LORD said unto Abram . . .'Lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are north, and south, east, and west, for all the land which you see, will I give to you and to your seed forever.'" (Genesis 13:14,15)

1. Hamas: Obama speech total failure - Ynet News

Obama's Mideast policy speech Thursday was a "total failure," Hamas said Thursday evening.

- There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. (Pr. 6:16-19)

- . . . And by the fear of the LORD, one departs from evil. ( Pr. 16:6).

2. Netanyahu rejects complete pullback to 1967 borders - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Thursday Israel would object to any withdrawal to "indefensible" borders, adding he expected Washington to allow it to keep major settlement blocs in any peace deal.

- Father, we thank you for boldness on Mr. Netanyahu's part to speak the truth without compromise. We pray that you would continue to embolden him and that he would refuse to divide Jerusalem. We also pray for favor as he speaks in the USA.

- . . . In this temple, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever. (2 Ki. 21:7)

3. Palestinian state should be based on '67 lines with swaps - Jerusalem Post

Obama on Thursday said that "a drive for a lasting peace is more urgent than ever," in his long-awaited address on the region at the US State Department.

4. Abbas calls emergency meeting over Obama address - Jerusalem Post

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday called an emergency meeting of the PA leadership to discuss US President Barack Obama's speech on peace in the Middle East, a PA official in Ramallah said.

5. Obama adopting Arafat's staged plan for Israel's end - Jerusalem Post

MKs on the Right expressed outrage on Thursday night at Obama's call for the creation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, in an exchange of territory for security.

- Father, we first ask Your forgiveness for attempting to change borders that are outside our sphere of responsibility to alter, and that are contrary to Your plans. Father, we also ask for wisdom, strength and courage directly from Your throne, f or Mr. Netanyahu and his advisors. We also ask for unity within the Knesset - that voices opposed to Israeli Statehood would be minimal, at best, and would be of no consequence. We thank you that You are the protector of Israel, and that Your plans for the nation will prevail.

- " I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live inthem. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," sa;ys the LORD your God. (Amos 9:14, 15)

White House Middle East Policy--Spirit of antichrist arises

There was so much wrong-mindedness in the speech on Middle East policy delivered by the man who occupies the Oval Office that it is difficult to know where to begin. I urge every American to read it. Obama for the fist time in history has embarked on a policy that will help reestablish an Islamic Caliphate in the name of self determination; will divide and reduce Israel's sovereign land to the advantage of proven terrorists; and redirects American policy in the Middle East toward violence and upheaval--all in the name of peace and human rights. His words are ear tickling, yet dangerous as in Jeremiah 6:14 saying, "Peace, peace; when there is no peace."

He said that "it will be the policy of the United States to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy...In the months ahead, America must use all our influence to encourage reform in the region." This only means that the United States is going to support revolution by terrorists and radicals through the Muslim Brotherhood to democratically establish Sharia law--under which the human rights of no man, woman or child are guaranteed. He is committing billions of dollars of your money to do it. The immoral use of this money is scandalous, its ethics are profoundly devoid during a time when most Americans face financial hardships.

He said, "In Tahrir Square, we heard Egyptians from all walks of life chant, "Muslims, Christians, we are one." America will work to see that this spirit prevails." This spirit is one of the antichrist. Islam and Christianity are the polar opposites of one another. 2 John 7 says, "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." We are not one. I am offended that a president of the United States who claims to be a follower of Christ would remotely imply that Islam and Christianity are of the same spirit. And of the Jews, who are not mentioned as one, he has a special plan for Israel, who all the Islamist "peace partners" say should be destroyed.

He said that Israel must revert back to its 1967 borders, stop its occupation of the West Bank and pull its security forces out of Palestinian areas. In return, the Palestinians must denounce terror and recognize Israel's right to exist. This, against a backdrop where Fatah--the moderate terrorist group America has paid billions to over the years--and Hamas, a known terrorist group that as late as last week issued a prayer call for the demise of Israel--have united to form a Palestinian government. Where the Palestinians have self rule in Gaza, they have constantly attacked Israel. This American president is traveling a dangerous path toward empowering Islam at the expense of humankind. He represents the spirit of antichrist and Christians need to have understanding that they are not deceived.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

WIN PRAYER ALERT

ISRAEL - WAGE SPIRITUAL WAR FOR ISRAEL

SUMMARY: The Third Palestinian Intifada is using Facebook to call pro-Palestinian groups in Egypt, Jordan and Syria to march on the borders of Israel after Friday prayers on May 20.

[Although this was planned for today, this movement is designed to continue to build over time. Hence, it is not too late to pray!]

Thousands of Palestinians gathered from Syria, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on Sunday, May 15 to protest the anniversary of Israel becoming a nation. Hundreds attempted to breach Israel's border and troops responded by firing on protesters. According to one source, more than a dozen were killed and scores of others injured.

Each year at this time, Palestinians participate in "the nakba" ("the catastrophe") marking the day Israel gained independence in 1948. However, this year, with the help of social media, the protests were coordinated and demonstrators attempted to enter Israeli territory.

Another march is being called for on May 20. The group behind it, Third Palestinian Intifada, has been using Facebook to organize the event. "Arab activists in neighboring countries" are being urged "to storm Israel's borders."

The event, which is being called a "Friday of response" on Facebook, had 100,000 "likes". According to al-Jazeera, activists will be assembling from Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, as well as the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Observers are calling this the Palestinian version of the Arab Spring - the protests that broke out across North Africa and the Middle East. Some also suspect that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and terrorist group Hezbollah are involved.

PRAY FOR:

- the Lord of hosts to arise, scatter Israel's enemies and protect His people. Pray for the Lord to fight against the demonic powers using people to attack Israel. (The Bible, Psalm 24:10; Psalm 68:1; Psalm 35:1)

- Jehovah Gibbor to take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for Israel's help. Pray for the Lord to clothe Himself in garments of war, draw out His spear and javelin, and close up the way of those who pursue and persecute Israel. (The Bible, Psalm 24:7,8)

- God Himself to guard the borders of Israel which He sovereignly established. Pray for men to stop fighting against Israel and against God. (The Bible, Acts 17:26,27)

- the peace of Jerusalem and the entire nation of Israel. Pray there will be no further violence. (The Bible, Psalm 122:6)

- the Lord to turn back all those who are plotting harassment, threats and bullying tactics. Pray for Israel to cast their cares on the Lord. (The Bible, Psalm 5:10; I Peter 5:7)

- the groups and governments behind these events - such as Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood - to be exposed. Pray for their plans to come to nothing. (The Bible, Mark 4:22; Psalm 35:1)

- the Lord to send Michael and other archangels to take their place of battle against the demonic forces attacking Israel. Pray for the Lord to station His warring angels on every border to protect His people. (The Bible, Daniel 10:13)

- prophetic watchmen to be called to the wall to pray for Israel. (The Bible, Isaiah 62:6,7)

- Arab Christians and Messianic Jews to forgive each other and stand together, being Kingdom minded: "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespass." (The Bible, Matthew 6:14,15)

- the Lord to keep Israel from becoming a scapegoat for the quest for democracy in the Arab world. Ask Him to reveal the motivations of Syria, Iran, and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Pray that this diabolical scheme will not divert attention from the Arab world's quest for democracy. (The Bible, Daniel 2:22)

- the "Friday of response" to be a complete failure. (The Bible, Psalm 5:10)

- Christians around the world to stand in the gap for Israel - God's chosen people. (The Bible, Deuteronomy 14:2)

- this conflict to become an opportunity for Palestinians and Jews to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, I Timothy 2:4)

- all of Israel to bow down to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Pray for them to acknowledge Jesus Christ as their only Lord and Savior, and the defender of Israel. (The Bible, I Peter 3:9)

- God's Kingdom to come to the Middle East, superseding culture, history and ethnic backgrounds. (The Bible, Matthew 6:10)

White House Report

BREAKING NEWS!

(From Earlier Today)

After a White House meeting that ran nearly two hours longer than planned, Obama and the Most Honorable Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made joint statements just a few hours ago from the Oval Office. Obama went first, looking uncomfortable and sounding as if he was in "damage control" mode. Prime Minister Netanyahu responded and, quite frankly, looked and sounded presidential. He directly rejected Obama's demands. :)

He reminded Obama that a peace based on an illusion would crash on the rocks of Middle Eastern reality. He directly rejected Obama's call for Israel to return to the 1967 lines. "Israel cannot go back . . . because the lines are indefensible," Netanyahu said. He told Obama that Israel will not negotiate with a Palestinian government headed by Hamas and reminded Obama that Hamas condemned the killing of Osama bin Laden.

On the question of Palestinian refugees, Netanyahu pointedly told Obama that the refugee issue will not be settled within the land of Israel. In other words, Israel will not agree to demographic suicide. "That's not going to happen," he told Obama.

In closing, Prime Minister Netanyahu reminded Obama of the history of Israel and the Jewish people. (He was wise to do so since the president's knowledge of history sometimes appears to go no further than the day of his own election.) He told Obama that through all the dark times, including the Holocaust, the Jewish people never lost "our dream" of reestablishing a state in their ancient homeland.

He told Obama, "We don't have a margin of error." Translation: You won't push us into concessions with our enemies that could jeopardize our very existence.

This was an amazing moment. Of the two men sitting next to each other in the Oval Office today, only one understands the dangerous world we live in, and knows that weakness emboldens evil and makes war and defeat more likely. That man is not the president of the United States. (Gary Bauer)

Backlash Builds . . .

Obama Speech Generates Growing Backlash

The outrage is growing as analysts in Washington, D.C., and Jerusalem continue to pour over every word of Obama's speech on the Middle East. Obama reneged on a key pledge made by the United States to Israel in 2004. As a result, he has undermined the value of our word in international relations with potentially terrible consequences for the future. He has demoralized the Israeli people and emboldened our mutual enemies.

In a 2004 letter, President George Bush outlined the U.S. position. Noting that large Israeli communities exist beyond the 1967 boundaries, Bush wrote, ". . .it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome" of peace talks would be a complete return to previous armistice lines. His letter was an attempt to reassure Israel that we would not pressure it to return to borders that are virtually impossible to defend.

Bush's letter was endorsed by a bi-partisan resolution in the House of Representatives by a vote of 407-9. (Only one Republican voted "No" on this reasonable position -- Rep. Ron Paul.)

One day later the resolution passed the Senate 95-3. One of those 95 "Yes" votes was then-Senator Hillary Clinton. Because of this presidential commitment, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was willing to take the risk of forcing 9,000 Israelis living in Gaza to leave their homes. Gaza promptly fell under the control of Hamas.

Obama's speech essentially ripped up the commitment made by Bush and Congress. It puts in jeopardy over 350,000 Israelis who live in well-established communities on the "wrong" side of the border to which Obama now demands Israel retreat.

The "Obama border" would shrink Israel to a width of 8 miles in some areas. In Israel such a border is referred to as the "Auschwitz" border because it would increase the chances that the country would be overrun by its enemies, resulting in a second Holocaust.

After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu heard the speech yesterday, he was described as livid. He should be. His office issued a statement saying that in his meeting with Obama today, the prime minister expected "to hear a reaffirmation from Obama of U.S. commitments made to Israel in 2004." But at this point what is a commitment from Obama worth? Next to nothing!

Last week thousands of Palestinian extremists threw themselves against the borders of Israel from all sides attempting to drown the tiny nation with a tidal wave of people dedicated to its destruction. Yesterday, Obama joined that mob attempting to erase the legitimate borders of our staunch ally.

If Obama succeeds, the most holy sites of Judaism and Christianity would be in the blood-soaked hands of Hamas, Hezbollah and the allies of Syria and Iran. Every pastor and rabbi should speak up and rally their congregations against this betrayal. Congress should immediately reaffirm the 2004 resolutions. (Gary Bauer)

Obama's Lawless Administration

Obama's disastrous foreign policy is increasingly running afoul of U.S. law. As we recently reported, current U.S. law prohibits American foreign aid from going to the Palestinian Authority if Hamas or other terrorist groups are part of the government there.

Obama admitted in his speech yesterday that Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have now merged. But there is no indication yet that the Administration is going to comply with the law and stop sending your tax dollars to the newly-formed Palestinian/Hamas coalition.

Here's another example. During the 2008 campaign, Obama repeatedly promised to end Bush's "war of choice," referring to Iraq. But now, he's launched his own "war of choice" in Libya. And unlike the George W. Bush, Obama does not have congressional approval for his "kinetic military action." Today, Obama hits the 60-day limit under the War Powers Act that allows Obama to conduct military operations without Congress' support.

Five Republican senators sent Obama a letter asking if he intends to "comply with the requirements of the War Powers Resolution." Surely the White House knew this day was coming, but evidently Obama has not yet asked Congress for a vote! Perhaps that is because Obama fears he might lose the vote. One member of the House said that Obama is trying to "bring democracy to Libya while shredding the Constitution of the United States." And that was California Democrat Brad Sherman! (Gary Bauer)
