ELECTION DAY
"The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. " (Rev. 11:15)
The Daily Brief
1. Midterm Elections 2010: Prepare for a New American Revolution - UK Telegraph
They are about to revisit that tradition this week, when their anger and exasperation sweep through Congress like avenging angels. This time the hated oppressor isn't a foreign colonial government, but their own professional political class. As some astute commentators have observed, the ascendancy of the Tea Parties has meant that fiscal conservatism can replace social conservatism.
So rather than being a threat to Republicanism, the election of Tea Party candidates might be its salvation. It represents a rank-and-file rejection of what many Americans see as a conspiracy of the governing elite against ordinary working people. All of which makes clearer the appeal of even the naivety and inexperience of some of the Tea Party contenders who have challenged incumbent Republican candidates.
• Lord, we pray this movement of the Tea Party will not change to something other than your will. We have prayed for a group of strong Christians to turn our nation back to you, so we pray this group will help bring back the godly values and honor to you that makes a nation righteous. Do not allow this group to grow corrupt.
• No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." (Luke 16: 13)
2. Early Clues: What to Watch in Tuesday's Elections - AP
Even if Republicans show huge strength, the nation still could go to sleep Tuesday night with unanswered questions about the makeup of the Senate: Polls don't close until 1 a.m. in Alaska, where it could take days or weeks to determine the winner of a three-way race for Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski's seat. It would take a true blowout for Republicans to pick up the 10 Senate seats they need for control. As for Obama at midterm, his grade will rely largely on the outcome of the fight for control of Congress. But his re-election campaign also will be affected by the result of gubernatorial races in states like Ohio, Iowa, Florida and his home state of Illinois.
• Lord, we pray that not only the House will be won, but also the Senate. We pray that governor's will be elected who will repeal and reverse all the harmful laws and unrighteous decisions that have been made in the last six years. Give us people who will stand firm in righteousness.
• But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)
3. Stakes are High in These Governor Races - Chron
More than half of the year's 37 governor's races are highly competitive. The 2010 governors' races also are significant because of a political situation that occurs only once every 20 years: The vast majority of states are electing governors just a year before they redraw congressional and legislative district lines. Governors play a key role in the redistricting process, so the elections could influence who gets the upper hand in redistricting battles that will shape legislative lines for a decade.
• Lord, we pray for men and women, who are solid Christians, to win as governors and plan the redistricting, so that your people will be the strongest influence in the land and not those who go against your laws. We pray for a quick reversal of those decisions that have caused our nation to be in rebellion against you and your ways.
• But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11,12)
4. Christine O'Donnell Accuses Local TV Station of 'Dirty Tricks' After Campaign Ad Fails to Air - New York Daily
The Delaware Tea Party and GOP Senate candidate claimed on her Twitter account that the station failed to show a commercial that she touted as an "Inspiring TV show about Delawareans." In the commercial, which was posted on O'Donnell's campaign website and is expected to air six times before the election, the Tea Party darling spoke about small business, taxes and other problems facing Delaware residents. Once down by as much as 20 points, O'Donnell has made a surprising surge in recent weeks and was within 10 points of Coons in a Monmouth University poll released Friday.
That poll was taken before Gawker published a story detailing O'Donnell's boozy hookup with a 25-year-old. The story, which was complete with photos of O'Donnell dressed as a ladybug, garnered condemnations from her campaign, as well as from women's organizations.
• Lord, this is an example of the kind of sleazy stories that have been said against Christine O'Donnell, Meg Whitman, and other candidates who have been so mocked and maligned in this race. We pray their opponents will not have victory over them, but that you will cause them to win in a mighty way.
• Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You; Let the wicked be ashamed . . . Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. (Psalms 31:17-18) You will save the humble people; But Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down. (2 Samuel 22:28
5. Republicans Urge Obama to Prevent Palestinian State Recognition - Ynet News
Republican members of the House of Representatives have written a letter to US President Barack Obama in which they urge him to veto any attempt to pass a Security Council resolution recognizing a Palestinian state, which they said would predetermine the results of peace negotiations.
The Republicans said that a UN resolution regarding a Palestinian state would have a devastating effect on peace prospects. By turning to the UN the Palestinians are trying to avoid meeting their commitments and advancing negotiations with Israel, they said. "The US must not reward such behavior," the letter noted. They also called Obama to support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's demand from the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.
• Thank you, Lord, that the Republicans are standing with Israel against her enemies. We pray the Republicans will win- with such a landslide- that the nation will once again be a strong ally of Israel.
• They shall be like mighty men, Who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle. They shall fight because the Lord is with them, And the riders on horses shall be put to shame. (Zechariah 10:5)
6. Bomb Materials From Yemen Found on Way to Jewish Places of Worship in Chicago - Fox News
Suspicious packages discovered in Dubai and England in air cargo shipments to the U.S. contained explosive materials and appeared headed for Jewish places of worship in Chicago, President Obama confirmed Thursday afternoon. Given the origin of the packages, Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula "is at the top of the list" of suspects, a U.S. official told Fox News.
"Since two of the suspicious packages that were intercepted were addressed to religious institutions in Chicago, all churches, synagogues and mosques in the Chicago area should be vigilant for any unsolicited or unexpected packages, especially those originating from overseas locations," Chicago FBI spokesman Ross Rice said.
• Lord, we pray these terrorists who are plotting against the Jews and places of worship will not be able to carry out their plans. Confound and confuse them. Let fear and calamities come upon them.
• "I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. (Exodus 23:27)

Does one dare separate the spirit of the Christian from his vote?
Election Day in America. This should be, not only in this election, but in all elections, an Exodus 18:21 day. Moses was having a hard time governing the Israelites after the exodus from Egypt. People were standing in line from morning to evening each day because, as Moses told his father in law Jethro, "the people come unto me to enquire of God." Jethro gave Moses some extremely good advice in Exodus 18:20: "thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk and the work that they must do." And then Jethro put forth the concept that thousands of years later became the cornerstone of the American Republic.
Exodus 18:21: "Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens." This God-given approach to government was adopted by the Founding Fathers of the United States. Noah Webster, published in 1785 "Sketches of American Policy," in which he submitted the premise for Congressional representation. Webster reflected in a letter written in 1832 the basis of the organization of Federal government: "Let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God [Exodus 18:21]...
Webster further wrote: "If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted...If our government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws." The first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Jay wrote on February 28, 1797, "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers. And it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." The Founding Fathers believed that a Constitutional Republic could only be sustained by a moral and religious people.
The entire argument for separation of church and state in the context of taking any type of religion out of governing is the enemy of the United States. For while this is a secular nation under the rule of a secular Constitution, it is impossible to separate the spirit of the man from his actions. Those who would try to separate the only moral compass and standing of a man from the way he would govern are attempting to corrupt the very intent of good governance. As 2 John 7 says, "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an anti-christ." Do not separate your moral underpinning that arises from the gospel from your vote. Your liberty is in the balance.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Al Qaeda Cargo Plot
Regardless of which party wins tomorrow, last week's bomb plot against cargo planes demonstrates the disturbing reality of our time: America remains in the bull's eye of radical Islamic jihadists. Intelligence officials warned over the weekend that these were powerful and sophisticated bombs and that more mail bombs may still be unaccounted for. UPS and FedEx have suspended all deliveries from Yemen. It is also unclear what the real targets were - the planes or the Chicago-area synagogues to which the mail bombs were addressed.
Meanwhile, Middle Eastern Catholic bishops recently met in Rome and issued a statement critical of Israel for the plight of Christians in the holy land. Yesterday, scores of Christians were killed in Iraq when jihadists attacked a Catholic church during Sunday mass. Al Qaeda claimed credit for the attack, calling the church a "dirty den of idolatry."
The attack is more evidence of radical Islam's bloodlust. It is not American foreign policy or the existence of Israel that leads to these senseless acts of evil. It is the jihadist's desire to kill the infidel wherever and whenever he can. (Gary Bauer)

Election News
COMMENTARIES BY DAVID BARTON
Part One: You can change America!
When it comes to elections, we've all heard or perhaps even made statements like, "I'm only one person, what can my one vote do?" Or, "My vote won't make a difference. As Christians, we're already in the minority." The fact is, such statements are not true.
The results of one Gallup Poll showed that 84 percent of people surveyed firmly believe in Jesus Christ, while a separate poll indicated 94 percent believe in God. Other polls have had similar findings, leading to the conclusion that although we have been led to believe Christians are the minority, we are not!
Imagine a vote in the U.S. Senate where the final tally is 94 to 6. It would be untenable for the six to be declared the winner and have their policy enacted over the votes of the 94. Yet this is exactly what happened when public acknowledgment of God was prohibited. Unfortunately, this travesty continues on a regular basis. Why? Because we, as Christians, have relinquished our right to be a democratic republic and have become a nation ruled by a small council of "elite" individuals.
President James Garfield once said: "Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress . . . If the next centennial does not find us a great nation . . . it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces."
Part Two: Make the commitment to vote!
Proof that it is up to us came in the 1986 Senate races, when five candidates in separate states who stood for returning godly principles to public affairs were defeated by a collective total of 57,000 votes-less than 12,000 votes per state. In those five states, over 5 million Christians did not vote! If only one of every 100 nonvoting Christians (1 percent) had voted for the candidate supporting godly principles, all five would have been elected, thus creating a 10-vote swing in the Senate.
Though disheartening, this report is actually encouraging in that it reveals godly candidates are most often defeated not by activists and radicals, but by inactive Christians! When we, as Christians, begin to believe we can make a difference, and act like the majority we are, we will make a difference. The ability to change the current situation is in our hands.
It is time to believe and behave differently. We are not a minority, but the majority! It is time to declare at the ballot box that we will no longer allow officials who embrace the values of the 6 percent to abrogate the rights of the 94 percent. We must remove officials who do not comply with traditional, historical and biblical principles and replace them with those who do.
Our vote does count, and we can make a difference!

A note from a reader:
Sara,
Here is the scripture given to me for the USA Election, Nov. 2, 2010.
I was amazed to read these words, given what is going on in American politics right now. I think this scripture is key somehow.
I am watching and praying with you from here in Jerusalem.

PROVERBS 24:19-25 (NASB)
19 Do not fret because of evildoers Or be envious of the wicked;
20 For there will be no future for the evil man;The lamp of the wicked will be put out.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king; Do not associate with those who are given to change,
22 For their calamity will rise suddenly, And who knows the ruin that comes from both of them?
23 These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
24 He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous,"
Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;
25 But to those who rebuke the wicked will be delight,
And a good blessing will come upon them.

Election Prayers
Prayer For Today's Elections
[These prayer points were sent to us by Kris Mineau, Presdent, Massachusetts Family Institute]
• Pray for voter turnout, that God's people would feel the need to engage the culture and be involved in government just as Jesus taught by exercising their right and authority to vote (Matt. 5:13-16).
• Pray for voter discernment, that God would help all Americans realize that where the candidates stand on key issues is far more important than the party he or she belongs to and all the campaign rhetoric (Proverbs 1:1-7).
• Pray that Americans of faith will vote for Biblical values instead of their political party or pocketbook (2 Chronicles 19:2).
• Pray that the Lord would protect the election process both nationally and locally from dishonesty and fraud (Proverbs 20:23).
• Pray that God would give us godly men and women as leaders who fear the Lord and honor Him (Proverbs 29:2).
• Pray that God would give us leaders who value the fact that America is a beacon of hope and freedom for the entire world and that our nation must be defended (Proverbs 8:15-16).
• Pray that this election would glorify God, not man; that this would be a "repentance" vote acknowledging that we are going in the wrong direction and need to return to the Biblical values and ideals that our nation was founded upon; that God would use this election as a spark for revival in the church and awakening in the nation (Psalm 85:4-7).
Remember the prescription God gave us:
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Federal Court Keeps 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Policy in Place
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted today the government's request to indefinitely stop a lower court's repeal of the controversial "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) policy.
The indefinite stay blocks U.S District Judge Virginia A. Phillip's order that served as a global end to the 1993 law that affirmed that homosexuality is incompatible with military service. Her decision would also bring an end to President Clinton's DADT policy that effectively dodged enforcement of the law.
Obama and his staff met with gay activists last week, in an effort to reassure them of their support.
Metro Weekly, a gay D.C. publication, got wind of the meeting and leaked the following news on Sunday night: "A person outside the White House familiar with the meeting agenda told Metro Weekly that there were three main points the White House was looking to impress upon attendees: (1) President Obama was pushing for lame-duck Senate action, (2) there would (be) more meetings up to the vote and (3) executive options are not being looked at right now." And it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." The Founding Fathers believed that a Constitutional Republic could only be sustained by a moral and religious people.

Be Our Eyes And Ears Today
Tomorrow is the big day - Election Day. There are all kinds of polls out suggesting big gains are possible, but the only poll that matters takes place tomorrow when you head to your polling place. I'd like you to be our eyes and ears.
Let us know what you see tomorrow when you vote. Was turnout heavy? Was it light? Did you see anything unusual? Was there any last-minute canvassing by Big Labor, left-wing groups or conservative candidates and the GOP? Let me hear from you. Use this link to respond after you vote tomorrow:
garybauer@cwfpac.com
If there are any dramatic events tomorrow, we will send a special report. In addition, CWF plans on sending several reports throughout the evening as the returns come in, so be certain to check your inbox frequently! I will also post updates on Facebook and Twitter.

PROVERBS 24:19-25
A note from a reader:
Sara,
Here is the scripture given to me for the USA Election, Nov. 2, 2010.
I was amazed to read these words, given what is going on in American politics right now. I think this scripture is key somehow.
I am watching and praying with you from here in Jerusalem.
Blessings from Zion,
Kathleen
PROVERBS 24:19-25 (NASB)
19 Do not fret because of evildoers Or be envious of the wicked;
Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;
25 But to those who rebuke the wicked will be delight,
And a good blessing will come upon them.
Selah . . .

The Good News Corner:
Metro Weekly, a gay D.C. publication, got wind of the meeting and leaked the following news on Sunday night: "A person outside the White House familiar with the meeting agenda told Metro Weekly that there were three main points the White House was looking to impress upon attendees: (1) President Obama was pushing for lame-duck Senate action, (2) there would (be) more meetings up to the vote and (3) executive options are not being looked at right now."
