The Daily Brief - Wednesday, November 10, 2010

" . . . the ruler of this world has been judged. " (John 16:11)

The Daily Brief

1. In Indonesia, Obama Touts Outreach to Muslims - CBsS News

Obama said Monday he is making progress toward ending the misunderstanding and mistrust between Muslim countries and the United States, but the effort is incomplete.

- Father, there will never be a cohesive relationship between the dark and the light. The two are walking in opposite directions. They are diametrically opposed from one another. God, we ask that You keep America strong to stand for the right and continue to build on a righteous foundation. Strengthen our strong belief system in God and cover our country with Your presence. In Jesus Name.

- "Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite. The Lord lifts up the meek: He casts the wicked down to the ground." (Psalm 147:5-6)

2. Chinese Credit Rater Downgrades U.S. - Wall Street Journal

Dagong Global Credit Rating Co., the Chinese rating company that was recently rejected in its bid to be an officially recognized bond rater in the U.S., just downgraded the entire U.S.

- Father, this bond rater company was rejected by the United States and their action seems to be a retaliatory move by Dagong. Nullify their vote to downgrade the U.S. that it bear no influential power. Hold the U.S. in Your hands and keep them strong. In Jesus Name.

- "For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak." (Psalm 59:12)

3. Palin Tells Bernanke to 'Cease and Desist' on Easing - Reuters

Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin on Monday weighed in on the global debate over the Federal Reserve's $600 billion plan to buy up government debt, suggesting Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke should "cease and desist." "We shouldn't be playing around with inflation," Palin, who is widely seen as a prospective 2012 Republican presidential candidate, said in remarks prepared for a Monday speech in Phoenix. "We don't want temporary, artificial economic growth bought at the expense of permanently higher inflation, which will erode the value of our incomes and our savings. We want a stable dollar combined with real economic reform. It's the only way we can get our economy back on the right track."

- Father, we praise You that former Governor Sarah Palin agrees with the European leaders, advising against the Fed's irresponsible actions of pumping money into the economy by $600 billion, thereby greatly increasing the risk of high inflation. We ask that You pull in all the Federal Reserve's $600 billion plan to buy up government debt and take full control of what caused it. Wrap this debt in the blood of Jesus and bring order out of chaos and inevitable destruction. Lift all this out of the hands of men and into the hands of God. In Jesus Name.

- "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for Me?" (Jeremiah 32:27)

4. Mystery Contrail Off California Coast - Fox News

The U.S. Military is scrambling to find out what was seen in skies over Los Angeles last night after a local CBS news helicopter captured video that appears to show a major missile or rocket launch from the Pacific Ocean 35 miles northwest of Santa Catalina Island.

- God, reveal to the utmost detail what this siting was and the source and its purpose. Reveal the truth. In Jesus Name.

- "Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men." (II Corinthians 8:21)

5. Haiti: Cholera confirmed in Port-au-Prince - BBC

The health ministry in Port-au-Prince has confirmed that the country's cholera outbreak has reached the Haitian capital.

- Father, we ask that all the people of Haiti fall on their faces before Almighty God, repent of sin, forgive their enemies and turn their lives over to You. Bind all sin under the blood of Jesus and raise up the country of Haiti to be a God-fearing people. In Jesus Name.

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord - Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

3. Netanyahu to Ban: 'Don't erase 4,000 years of history' - Jerusalem Post

The United Nations should not erase 4,000 years of historic Jewish connection to the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel's Tomb just to score a political point, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the organization's Secretary- General Ban Ki-moon when the two men meet Monday evening in New York.

4. Ashkenazi: In a future war we'll need to evacuate civilians - Jerusalem Post

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Monday delivered a pro-Israel speech at a parliamentary conference which dealt with ways to fight anti-Semitism. Harper implied that his country did not secure a seat at the United Nations Security Council due to its failure to cooperate with an anti-Israel policy.

- Father, bless Prime Minister Stephen Harper for standing with Israel and bless the country of Canada. God, Your promises are spoken with great favor toward those who bless Israel. In Jesus Name.

- "And I will bless them that bless Israel, and curse him that curses Israel: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed." (Genesis 12:3)

6. 'N. Korea may have sold nuke technology to Iran, Syria' - Jerusalem Post

A UN report suggesting that North Korea might have supplied Iran, Syria and Myanmar with banned nuclear technology could be published on the Security Council's North Korea sanctions committee website on Tuesday prior to being reviewed by the Council, Reuters reported.

- Father, North Korea may have bought their way into the inner circle by supplying this nuclear technology. They have drifted toward the back of the line and this could have been a next to the last ditch effort to stay among the big names. God, hold back Iran, Syria and Myanmar that they not make any progress to bring mass destruction on Israel. In Jesus Name.

- "Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from their streets." (Psalm 55:10-11)

Iran offered Tuesday to resume nuclear talks with the United States and other world powers next week after pushing for a shift of venue to Turkey to give Tehran an ally on the sidelines.

- Father, all the nations are aligning themselves with Bible prophecy and what God said in His Word. God, look upon the unsaved souls in Iran and Turkey and give them visions of Jesus that they accept Jesus as Savior of their souls. Protect them and strengthen them. In Jesus Name.

- "Oh how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for them that fear You; which You have wrought for them that trust in You before the sons of men." (Psalm 31:19)

8. Update: Netanyahu: Nuclear-armed Iran is the greatest danger facing Israel - Ha'aretz

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told American Jewish community leaders in New Orleans on Monday that Iran's nuclear ambitions posed the greatest threat to Israel and the world, and that Tehran would only halt its aspirations for atomic weapons if it believed that it faced a real possibility of military action.

"The greatest danger facing Israel and the world is the prospect of a nuclear armed Iran. Iran threatens to annihilate Israel, it denies the Holocaust, it sponsors terror in South America and Afghanistan and Iraq," Netanyahu said Monday. "This is what Iran is doing without nuclear weapons, imagine what it would do with them. Imagine the devastation its terror proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas and others, would wreak under an Iranian nuclear umbrella."

• Lord, we pray that you will confound the wicked plans of Israel's enemies. Let there be a supernatural event happen to their weapons by your hand that sets them back for decades. Let there be multitudes of computer viruses to shut down all their weapons. We declare to them calamities and confusion in their camp. May the fear of God come upon them.

And he said: "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence. (2 Samuel 22:2, 3)

A prayer of agreement from an Iranian believer today:

I touch in agreement with you now: My God, My Lord, bring forth your will in Iran as it is in heaven. The Lord of Israel, The true God, I plead to you to bring forth your super natural power to Iran and save their souls. My God let them see the truth, My God let them see the god they serve is a false god. My God, My Lord shine on them, let them not heat, but LOVE. My God don't let any of their wicket schemes blossom, Let them fall on their face and worship YOU. I pray in the name of Jesus. " Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" Amen!

Sorry, Mr. president, not everyone is "God's followers"

The definition of a Christian is often on the line in politics. President George W. Bush said he is a Christian, but more than once he was quoted as saying that there was more than one way to heaven. The man in the White House has also said he is a Christian, but his explanation often has fallen short of a sure definition of Christianity as he espoused the doctrine of collective salvation and many ways to heaven. He said this week after visiting a mosque in Indonesia, "As a Christian visiting a mosque on this visit, I found it in the words of a leader who was asked about my visit and said, "Muslims are also allowed in churches. We are all God's followers."

This denies the fundamental truth, the very basis of Christianity. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." IF you cannot accept this tenet of the faith--that Jesus the Christ is the only way to the Father, then your salvation is in question. And if you teach another doctrine, it is as 2 John 9, "Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God." In these times when the church is so wrapped up in the love of God rather than glorifying God, where men are glorified through self indulgent, extra biblical doctrines, where there are ungodly spasmodic movements and empty prophesying, it is easy to see how deception takes root.

Let us be reminded that not all places are like America. There are many Christians that are dying horrible deaths at the hands of Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Communists, and other false religions. The American president made no mention of the hundreds of Christian pastors that have been and are being persecuted by Hindus in Orissa, India--many murdered in front of their wives and children--during the past two years. In other areas of India, Muslims are persecuting Christians. Yet, the American president, who claims Christianity, chooses to omit any mention of such persecution as he celebrates the diversity of India and America.

Likewise, Indonesia has a history of persecuting Christians. In May, for example, Compass Direct News reported that hundreds of Muslims burned buildings under construction belonging to the Penabur Christian Education Foundation, which runs about 60 schools across Indonesia. Remember the three Christian school girls who were beheaded by Muslims as they walked to school in October 2007. One of the girl's heads was placed in front of a new Christian church in the area. Yet, the president, in his recent speech in Jakarta, reaffirmed Indonesia's "spirit of religious tolerance that is enshrined in Indonesia's Constitution, and that remains one of this country's defining and inspiring characteristics." Sorry, Mr. President, Not everyone is God's followers.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Commentary: Joel Rosenberg

AS OBAMA HITS ISRAEL AGAIN, CANADA'S PRIME MINISTER PROVES TO BE THE MOST PRO-ISRAEL LEADER ON THE PLANET

[...]Obama sharply and unfairly criticized Israel yesterday while visiting Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country. He slammed the Jewish State for daring to announce the building of some 1,300 new apartments in Jerusalem, saying such moves were an impediment to the peace process with the Palestinians. Prime Minister Netanyahu, currently visiting the U.S., immediately responded to President Obama's criticism: "Jerusalem is not a settlement; Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel."

The critical question facing the U.S., Israel, and the world right now should not be stopping the building of apartments in Jerusalem but stopping the building of nuclear weapons in Iran. Yet the Obama administration is not taking decisive action to stop Iran from getting the Bomb, and refuses to put a credible military threat against Iran on the table.

Contrast Obama's deeply unfriendy approach towards Israel with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's consistently courageous pro-Israel policies. On my weblog today, I provide a list of such policies. Now, Harper has stepped up again.

"As long as I am prime minister, whether it is at the UN or the Francophonie or anywhere else, Canada will take that stand, whatever the cost," Harper told a conference on anti-Semitism. "Not just because it is the right thing to do but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israeli mob tells us all too well, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are a threat to all of us."

"We must be relentless in exposing this new anti-Semitism for what it is," Harper said. Harper said Canada must oppose what he called the "three Ds - demonization, double standards and delegitimization . . . .Like any free country, Israel subjects itself to such criticism, healthy, necessary, democratic debate. But when Israel, the only country in the world whose very existence is under attack, is consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation, I believe we are morally obligated to take a stand."

Prayer Request from Joel Rosenberg:

Please lift Harper and his family, advisors, and his country up to the Lord. Please ask the Lord to bless them, to continue giving them courage and boldness. Please ask the Lord, as well, what we as evangelical Christians can do to properly thank and bless the Prime Minister for the courage of his convictions.

Netanyahu Tone Changes on Iran

NETANYAHU TONE CHANGES ON IRAN, BEGINS LAYING GROUNDWORK FOR POSSIBLE MILITARY STRIKES, SANCTIONS NOT WORKING

By Joel C. Rosenberg

(San Diego, California, November 9, 2010) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to the U.S. was originally supposed to be three days. It has been extended to five days. He stopped first in New Orleans on Sunday to speak to a conference of American Jewish leaders, and to meet with Vice President Biden. He's now spending several days in New York meeting with UN Secretary General Ki Ban Moon, Secretary of State Clinton, and others. The Obama team is trying to focus on peace talks with the Palestinians. But Netanyahu's focus is different. He is warning military strikes against Iran may be necessary. Indeed, Netanyahu's tone on Iran is changing. For much of the year, he has been fully supportive of economic sanctions. But the PM is now telling the U.S. to put a credible military threat on the table. He is, I believe, beginning to lay the groundwork for a possible Israeli preemptive strike, if the U.S. and the West can't stop Iran any other way.

Yesterday, I did an interview with NewsMax.com. Here are some excerpts. The full interview is posted on my weblog, along with the latest headlines on the Netanyahu visit.

"[...] Obama isn't doing enough to keep nuclear weapons out of Iran's hands, and Israel may have to launch a military strike as a result, says author Joel Rosenberg, former political consultant to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu," reports NewsMax.com. "Rosenberg, a New York Times best-selling author, recently published The Twelfth Imam, a novel. 'It's not simply dangerous that Iran's leaders have publicly called for the annihilation of Israel and the U.S. and that Iran is rapidly pursuing nuclear weapons,' he tells Newsmax.TV.

"'The problem in Iran is that the regime has an end-of-time theology. It believes we are living in the end of days. It expects the Islamic messiah, Twelfth Imam, to come at any moment.' Furthermore, the regime believes that annihilating Israel - 'the little Satan' - and the United States - 'the big Satan' - is the way to hasten the Twelfth Imam's arrival. 'This is what's so dangerous: nuclear weapons soon in the hands of people who believe it's their God-given mission to end Judeo-Christian civilization as we know it,' Rosenberg says. 'We're rapidly approaching the point where this could become all too real.'

"Netanyahu has said that American economic sanctions against Iran aren't working and that the United States must put a credible military threat on the table, Rosenberg notes. But he doesn't think Netanyahu is convinced that the Obama administration will take decisive action. 'I think the prime minister is laying the groundwork for sometime next year that if the world and U.S. don't take decisive action, Israel may have to take action itself. I pray for peace but think we have to be prepared for war.'"

The Good News Corner:

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper Declares He'll Stand with Israel No Matter What

On Monday, Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, gave a compelling speech on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, as he declared his-and the country's-commitment to standing with the nation of Israel.

"There are, after all, a lot more votes-a lot more-in being anti-Israeli than in taking a stand. But, as long as I am Prime Minister-whether it is at the United Nations, the Francophonie, or anywhere else, Canada will take that stand whatever the cost."

Harper cautioned that the anti-Israel rhetoric is not just offensive, but dangerous.

He explained that he will stand with Israel "not just because it is the right thing to do, but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israel mob tell us all too well, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are in the longer term a threat to all of us." Watch the YouTube video of Harper's speech at the link provided. (Source: CTV Toronto, YouTube.com)
