The Daily Brief

1. Thin Crowd for Obama Cleveland Campaign Rally - New York Times

Obama wrapped up a weekend of last-minute campaigning in Ohio on Sunday, addressing Democrats in an indoor arena that, in a sign of the "enthusiasm gap" that the president is working so hard to close, was little more than half full. . . the thin crowd was perhaps a foreboding sign in the waning days of the midterm races, when Obama, who was joined Sunday by American born Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., considers getting Democrats to the polls his most important mission. Read more.

- Abraham Lincoln once said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." Offer praise for these words of wisdom and that the current polls increasingly are reflecting that "all of the people" are no longer being fooled by the man in the Oval Office. Hallelujah! America IS waking up!

- "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free." (John 8:32)

2. ONE DAY TO DECIDE: Will Election Be Obama Referendum? - Fox News

• The question of what role Obama's polices will have on the midterm elections is being hotly debated with a leading Republican saying voters will ultimately cast ballots against the White House, while one top Dem says the referendum talk is overblown.

- Pray that the Lord will be pleased with American voters' choices at the election and that Americans vote according to His principles. Intercessors, do not forget to pray over your polling places, wherever you live! The president's policies do not appear to follow what the Lord and our Founding Fathers planned for our nation, and we must make every effort to follow Him so that He can heal our land. Although entertaining, debates are not what the Lord wants us to do. Pray! Pray!

- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance." (Psalm 33:12)

3. 65% Favor Getting Rid of Entire Congress and Starting Over - Rasmussen Reports

Let's face it: Most Americans don't have much use for either of the major political parties and think it would be better to dump the entire Congress on Election Day.

a. Poll: Most Want Obama Fired In 2012 - US News and World Report

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, rapped by the White House for pledging to make Obama a one-term occupier of the White House, seems to have the support of a majority of Americans. A new poll provided to Whispers says that 56 percent of likely voters want the president fired.

- Obama has had two years to prove his support of the Constitution and of American principles; he has veered far to the left in his leadership. Apparently, he is far too inexperienced to take on the responsibilities of such a powerful position; he has imposed rather than lead! Pray that he will learn what the real presidency means : much more than power. Congress also has veered into ambition rather than legislation that is right and just for our nation. It is no surprise that Americans are so disenchanted by the federal government! Pray for the correct shifting of our government and for an experienced captain at the wheel.

- "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God." (Psalm 42:11)

4. Bombs from Yemen were made to blow up in flight, U.S. officials say - LA Times

Senior U.S. officials said Sunday that two powerful bombs sent as cargo from Yemen appeared to have been made by a fugitive Saudi bomb maker linked to Al Qaeda and that the devices seemed to have been designed to blow up airliners carrying them.

John O. Brennan, the White House senior counter-terrorism adviser, said forensic analysis of the two packages, which contained printer cartridges containing explosives, indicated they were constructed by Ibrahim Hassan Asiri, a member of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula who is believed to have built the devices used in two previous attempted attacks, including a failed effort to blow up a U.S. airliner last December. Asked if there could be any more packages carrying explosives en route, Brennan said all packages coming from Yemen would be checked.

- More than packages from Yemen need to be checked, for Al-Qaeda would be foolish to send bombs from that country now. Praise the Lord that our officials are alert to dangers and found the packages before they caused any harm. Pour out your supplications over Ibrahim Asin, so that he is neutralized and then saved by the power of Jesus Christ. Pray for all of Yemeni citizens, for they are obviously prey to the dictates of radical Islam. Lift up to the throne of God our agents who work so diligently to protect our American homeland from terrorist attacks.

- "For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom gives life to them that have it." (Ecclesiastes 7:12)

5. Al Qaeda Bombs Intended for the UK and US Averted - CHPP; UK News

Explosives found inside a modified printer ink cartridge on board a cargo plane at East Midlands Airport were primed to detonate in mid-air. The device was active when counter-terror police swooped on the aircraft early on Friday. Yemen-based terrorists had built the bomb to go off in British air space, just like the Lockerbie atrocity of 1988 which killed 270 people.

Home Secretary Theresa May yesterday said: "I can confirm that the device was viable and could have exploded. The target may have been an aircraft and had it detonated, the aircraft could have been brought down. Read more.

- PRAISE GOD FOR HIS INTERVENTION IN THE BOMBS INTENDED FOR THE UK AND THE U.S.!! We do know that PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!

I truly believe that the prayers that are prayed asking that all things hidden be revealed is heard by our Father and answered. We need to continue to pray these prayers over the election and for the security of the nation.

WE DO NEED TO THANK HIM AND PRAISE HIM FOR THIS. A MAJOR TRAGEDY WAS AVERTED BECAUSE OF HIS DIVINE INTERVENTION. (Mary Murphy)

- Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the LORD! (Psalm 150:6)

6. Computer glitch halts communication with US missiles - BBC

A computer glitch knocked 50 US nuclear inter-continental ballistic missiles offline for 45 minutes on Saturday, October 23, an Air Force official told the BBC. The Weekly Standard also reported that "50 Nuclear Missiles Drop Offline," saying: "an entire squadron of nuclear missiles unexpectedly dropped into a "launch facility down" status on Saturday morning, taking a sizable portion of America's nuclear deterrent offline." Read more.

- The Lord is our shield of protection, and His angels are able to deflect any incoming missiles. Nevertheless, Americans needs to be well-defended against any attack. Ask the Lord to ensure that all our defense projects function well at all times and that this glitch is quickly repaired. Pray there is never a "glitch" when America needs its armament in peak order. A question: why did not the American media report this problem rather than citizens receiving it through BBC? Our media needs an overhaul and correction in its focus on news, Pray for infusion of truth into the American media.

- "He teaches my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms." (Psalm 18:34)

We are the Spirit of America

We came to the New World to escape religious persecution and the arbitrary power of potentates and princes. We were inspired by the concept of freedom. We fought a king who sought to subordinate this new nation. When we declared independence, our voice was clear and direct:
We won the war against the king who wanted this to be a lesser nation. That battle birthed a home for freedom, democracy and the rights of all people under a Constitution that would guarantee all who are a part of this nation equality under the law.

We have enjoyed the gift of this liberty ever since and we will not tolerate any diminution of the creed and cause that has secured a multitude of blessings upon this nation. We will breach no tampering with our law to accommodate any rule, which would diminish the freedoms for which so many have sacrificed their lives. Indeed, for the many now who battle oppression that has brought harm to this and to other freedom loving nations of the world.

- We reject any notion or any code or set of rules that promulgates the supremacy of any religion over the rule of law.

- We reject any system that threatens death to those who, in expressing their right of free speech, are claimed to have insulted Islam. First Amendment - free speech.

- We reject any system that subordinates women, turning them into virtual slaves. Nineteenth Amendment - women rights.

- We reject any system that condones the beating of women and girls, whipping, stoning, behanding or beheading. Eighth Amendment - no cruel and unusual punishment.

- We reject any system that condones the murder of anyone who leaves any religious group for any reason. First Amendment - freedom of religion.

- We reject any system that fixes an inferior status to anyone outside that system.

- We reject any system that allows members of one group to deceive or lie to other groups to further itself.

Therefore, we refuse to accept any inclusion of Shariah Law into the laws of this nation. We are one nation with one law for all. Let Freedom Reign. - Rodger Parsons

Another Call to Prayer

Word for Today by Ras Robinson

Monday, November 1, 2010

November 1, 2010. Today, you can readily see that I have left you with an example of purpose. Among the thing I have called upon you to do, I want you to place prayer at the top of your list. Your purpose on the earth is first to pray.

And yet I also have given you the purpose on this earth to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have called you to take care of the widows and orphans along with the poor and needy and so much more.

But as a priority, you are to remember to pray. It is within this discipline of prayer that you will find the fodder and fire of prophecy and declaration. You will, as the men and women of old, prophesy things into to being while at the same time you will also prophesy destruction and restoration.
Acts 1:14 (NASB) "These all (the first disciples) with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers."

Prayers and Presidents

Prayers and Presidents: A Historic Snapshot
The AMERICAN MINUTE

November 1, 2010

On NOVEMBER 1, 1800, John Adams became the first U.S. President to move into the White House.

The following day he wrote a letter to his wife, Abigail, in which he composed a beautiful prayer.

A portion of John Adams' prayer was inscribed on the mantlepiece in the State Dining Room by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It reads:

"I pray Heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this house and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof."

After the White House was finished being built, the next building constructed on Lafayette Square was St. John's Episcopal Church.

Because every President since James Madison worshipped there at some time, Pew 54 has been designated for the First Family.

Other historic Washington, D.C. area churches include:

Christ Church in Alexandria, where President Washington attended;

the National Presbyterian Church, where Truman attended; the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, where Presidents Lincoln and Eisenhower attended and where Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall pastored from 1937-1949; and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where John F. Kennedy attended.

The Good News Corner

Original Jamestown Church Found Where Pocahontas Was Married

(Jamestown, Virginia)-The church in Jamestown, where Pocahontas married John Rolfe, has been found. The discovery reveals that the church, which some historians tried to downplay as unimportant to the colony, was actually given center-stage in the village, "the first and largest structure anyone would notice after passing through the fort's entrance."

"People have never associated Jamestown with religion, but it was positioned to make a statement," said James Horn, vice president of research and historical interpretation at Colonial Williamsburg, which helps manage the fort site.

According to the report in the Wall Street Journal, "Next spring, forensic anthropologists will exhume the row of chancel graves, which might contain the remains of the fort's first minister or Sir Ferdinando Wenman, a knight who arrived in 1610 to rally the fort's starving few and aid the colony's historic turnaround."
