"Occupy till I come." (Luke 19:13b)

The Daily Brief

1. Federal Judge Temporarily Bars Florida's Welfare Drug-test Law - CNN

The law went into effect July 1, but a single father and the American Civil Liberties Union contend in a lawsuit that the new law is unconstitutional and violates Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable search and seizure. Florida is not the first state to pass such legislation. Michigan passed a similar law that was found to be unconstitutional by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2003 for violating the Fourth Amendment.

"Research shows higher drug use among individuals receiving government assistance, and drug abuse also forces children into welfare assistance," Scott said while signing the bill into law. But Judge Scriven said in her ruling that based on the evidence, "there is a substantial likelihood" that Florida's law could be found unconstitutional.

• Lord, we pray the courts will not find this unconstitutional, but that the government has a valid reason to require a drug test on those applying for government assistance. Besides the danger to the children whose guardians might have drug problems, the state also has an obligation to balance the budgets in many states.

• Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle - Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. (Psalms 32: 9, 10)

2. Christie Slams 'Elite' Judges in Pension Squabble - NewsMax

A superior court judge sparked a furor last week when she ruled that increases in the costs of pensions and healthcare benefits for members of the judiciary amount to pay cuts forbidden under the state Constitution. Christie appealed the ruling, but he also is calling for a state constitutional amendment that would force judges to pay more for their pensions.

"We are asking people who are paid the most to pay the most for the most generous pension benefits," the Republican governor said Tuesday during a campaign event at the Trenton War Memorial. "These are public servants, not kings and queens in black robes."

• Lord, our governing bodies are no longer working for the citizens, but instead they are working for themselves. Let our governments - including the courts, be replaced with people of honor and integrity who will not fatten themselves off the people. Let righteousness rise up in our nation, our courts, and our people.

For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, But His secret counsel is with the upright. The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just. (Proverbs 3; 32, 33)

3. ACORN Playing Behind Scenes Role in 'Occupy' Movement - Fox News

The former New York office for ACORN, the disbanded community activist group, is playing a key role in the self-proclaimed "leaderless" Occupy Wall Street movement, organizing "guerrilla" protest events and hiring door-to-door canvassers to collect money under the banner of various causes while spending it on protest-related activities, sources tell FoxNews.com.

Sources said NYCC has hired about 100 former ACORN-affiliated staff members from other cities - paying some of them $100 a day - to attend and support Occupy Wall Street. Dozens of New York homeless people recruited from shelters are also being paid to support the protests, at the rate of $10 an hour, the sources said. Read more.

• Heavenly Father, as we enter more weeks of these demonstrations, we pray that order and sanity will prevail. We pray that everyone who is acting illegally will be revealed and punished. If there are any people in this group who will be a part of voter fraud eventually, we pray they will be bound from their evil plans.

• It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel. The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing. (Proverbs 20:3, 4)

4. Rep. King: Iran's U.N. Reps are Mostly Spies - CBS

Speaking at a hearing Wednesday, the Democrat says such a move would send a clear signal after the recent alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington. The U.S. and Iran have no diplomatic relations and thus there are no Iranian diplomats in the U.S. except those attached to the U.N. mission in New York. Although those diplomats are allowed to live in the U.S. for that purpose, the U.N. is an independent international body and the U.S. cannot simply kick out diplomats accredited there en masse.

While the chances of kicking out Iranian diplomats to the U.N. are unlikely at best, that didn't stop the lawmaker from piling on the Islamic republic over the alleged assassination plot. "So you have the assassination of a foreign ambassador, you have the willingness to kill hundreds of Americans - this is an act of war," King said, according to Radio Free Europe. "I don't think we can just do business as usual or even carry out sanctions as usual."

• Thank you Lord, for revealing these hidden plans and peoples who would harm our nation. We pray more of our officials will call boldly for increased vigilance where needed. Let them not be restrictive to those who are law-abiding, but only to those who would do us harm.

The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah (Psalm 9: 15, 16)

5. General: Marine Corps Is the 'Cheap Force' - ABC News

Gen. James Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, said today that in the face of a shrinking defense budget, the armed services would not turn against one another and fight for funds. Gen. James Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, sold the Marine Corps as the "cheap force," and said America needs a military "that's not going to break the bank. You get a lot of bang for the buck with us . . . I will not ask for things that I want; I will only ask for things that I need," he said. "What is it that's good enough to get us through the next eight to 10 years?"

"For decades the Marine Corps was known as - in some circles as the cheap force," Amos said. "We were known to be the penny-pinchers. So to begin with, we're going back to that." Amos said the Marines Corps planned to go down to 186,000 personnel from 202,000 - cuts approved by former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. For those looking to join the Marines now, he said, there was such a backlog of those wanting to join that it would be at least eight months before being sent to boot camp. He added that there would also be some cuts in ground vehicles, from 40,000 to 30,000.In addition, he said, pay and housing, health and retirement benefits would be looked at.

• Lord, we pray these plans to downsize the military - while we still need a strong military, be not weakened, but strengthened. Help our troops not be put under undue duress because of all these decisions. Let all in authority have your wisdom and vision for improving the military, not handicapping it. Be gracious to them.

• The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. (Psalms 9:9, 10)

6. Mexican Presidential Hopeful Vows Drugs War Shift - Reuters

A leading presidential candidate of Mexico's ruling party said on Wednesday he would break with government policy and withdraw the army from the fight against drug gangs if he wins the election in 2012. "The direct, frontal, expansive strategy is a strategy that should end with this administration," said Santiago Creel, a former interior minister belonging to the conservative National Action Party (PAN), who is seeking the PAN's nomination for the presidency. Instead, he said priority should be given to attacking cartels' revenue streams, cracking down on money laundering and cleaning up Mexico's prisons, where top criminals are often able to continue running their crime gangs on the outside.

Mexican President Calderon has endured withering criticism from victims of the drug war and opposition lawmakers for his U.S.-backed military approach but he has stood firm, arguing the cartels would have become too powerful if he had not acted.

• Father God, Mexico is not just our neighbor, but now it is our greatest importer of illegal drugs and other undesirable criminals. What goes on there, impacts our lives. Let their citizens choose a person with fortitude, and let them continue to fight the crimes there without relenting. Let our borders be truly secured.

• Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. (Proverbs 16:18,19)

7. Poll: 43 percent agree with views of "Occupy Wall Street" - CBS News

Forty-three percent of Americans agree with the views of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll that found a widespread belief that money and wealth should be distributed more evenly in America. While there are different agendas within the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, nearly all of the protesters say that wealth has become too concentrated among a relatively small group of Americans. The poll found that most Americans agree with that assessment.

Forty-six percent of Americans say "Occupy Wall Street" represents the views of most Americans, compared to 34 percent who say it does not. Asked specifically what they think about "Occupy Wall Street" as a movement - as opposed to the ideas behind it - Americans were more reticent to offer an opinion.

• Heavenly Father, we pray for the mind and heart of this nation. We pray for the leaders of this nation and everyone who has this greedy spirit mentality. Let integrity, honor, and responsibility be the mindset of the people. Take the coarseness out from our programs, TV shows, movies, and other places of influence. Replace them with shows worthy and inspiring to be viewed.

• It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel. The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing. (Proverbs 3, 4)

8. Libyan leader's embrace of Sharia raises eyebrows - CNN

At a rally on Sunday in Benghazi, National Transitional Council leader Mustafa Abdul Jalil said, "As a Muslim country, we have adopted the Islamic Sharia as the main source of law. Accordingly, any law that contradicts Islamic principles with the Islamic Sharia is ineffective legally." That kind of talk could raise concerns among the fledgling government's Western backers.

"Islam is clearly going to play a much stronger role across the region," says Robin Wright, a Mideast expert at the U.S. Institute of Peace. "Whether it's Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and beyond - as countries redefine their political systems, they are going to want to use the values of their faith to help define what they want next. But that doesn't mean necessarily they're going to be rigid Islamist regimes." Still, she says, Libyan women are very concerned about equal rights in the post-Gadhafi era.

* Lord, We pray that things will radically and quickly change so that the country does not go the way of having Sharia Law. Let the people protest. We pray that people will rise up quickly to turn things around. We pray that we will not be involved in skirmishes that are not necessary.

* They devise iniquities: "We have perfected a shrewd scheme." Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep. But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they shall be wounded." (Psalms 64: 6, 7)

1. Hamas boosting anti-aircraft arsenal with looted Libyan missiles - Ha'aretz Shoulder-fired anti-aicraft missiles have been smuggled into Gaza in recent years at Iran's initiative, but the fall of Muammar Gadhafi's regime has enabled Hamas to bring in much higher quality missiles.

2. IAF retaliates: Gaza terrorism centers targeted - Jerusalem Post

Three Grad rocket were fired from the Gaza Strip at the Ashdod and Bnei Aish areas shortly before midnight Wednesday.

The Daily Jot

Of Imperialism and Democracy

I recently saw an article calling the American foreign policy thrust over the past decade "imperialism." Usually, these are the words of anti-American trouble makers, but this article was from a more well respected columnist that caught my attention. He was writing what I have been thinking for quite some time. The point that the United States has "garrisons" spread throughout the world, especially in the Middle East is just one telltale sign. Its one thing to respond to an enemy's attack on your own soil, its still another to consistently binge on spreading democracy and spend taxpayer money to build nations, especially when those nations have no intention of being democratic or westernized civilizations.

Our leaders promote democracy saying that it brings peace and stability to a nation. They say that democracies are nations that get along with the rest of the world through trade and cultural exchange. Nice idea. But George Washington looked at nation building a bit differently as indicated in his farewell speech. He said, "...a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification."

Washington had a simple approach to foreign policy: "Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be, that good policy does not equally enjoin it - It will be worthy of a free, enlightened, and at no distant period, a great nation, to give to mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by an exalted justice and benevolence. Who can doubt that, in the course of time and things, the fruits of such a plan would richly repay any temporary advantages which might be lost by a steady adherence to it? Can it be that Providence has not connected the permanent felicity of a nation with its virtue?"

Washington saw a clear connection between God and country. He said that both foreign influence by nations on America and undue influence by America on foreign nations was a bad thing. He seemed to follow the rule expressed by Jesus Christ in Luke 6:31"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." Good faith and justice towards all nations, cultivating peace and harmony does not mean overthrowing governments and establishing Islamic Sharia Law through a vote called democracy. And it surely is not doing on to men as you would have them do to you--who but a tyrant would wish Sharia Law unto a people? Our nation needs repentance for the deeds of our leaders and our part in electing them. Its not a political party thing, its an obedience to God thing.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

OWS Movement Turns Violent

While the "mainstream" media desperately tries to portray the Occupy Wall Street movement as representative of middle America, there is more evidence today of the radical left-wing influences behind it. Fox News reports that the disgraced community organizing outfit ACORN is actively supporting the riffraff in Zuccotti Park -- even paying homeless people $10 an hour to join the protests.

Meanwhile, across the country, the movement is creating more problems than solutions. And in some cases it is turning violent. For example:

* In Boston and other cities, officials are increasingly worried about health hazards. This week Boston police arrested two occupiers for selling heroin.

* Today's New York Post reports that OWS organizers in Zuccotti Park are increasingly frustrated that their free food is attracting the homeless, gangs and ex-cons just released from prison. Evidently, they don't want to share their free food and free sleeping bags with "vultures." OWS "sanitation volunteer" Lauren Digioia complained, "We're talking about occupying. This group is squatting here and using our resources." Perhaps there is hope for Ms. Digioia yet! Millions of hardworking Americans feel the same way about free-loading socialists.

* In Oakland, California, riots broke out yesterday after the police evicted the occupiers from their camp. Numerous disturbing videos of the violence have been posted online. In one instance, a group of police officers was encircled by a mob and attacked with water bottles and paint bombs.
Next time you hear Barack Obama or some other left-wing politician praise the Occupy Wall Street movement, ask yourself how many Tea Partiers were arrested for selling drugs? How many Tea Partiers attacked cops? How many Tea Party events ended up in full-blown riots?

These radicals do not represent average Americans, and honest Democrats know it. While the left is occupying Wall Street, we need to devote all of our resources to occupying the White House in 2013! (Gary Bauer)

The cartoon every American NEEDS to see! This Cold War propaganda short from 1948 shows how we all lose under big government. . . . including the business tycoons, politicians, unions, farmers and John Q. Public . And, what can happen if America loses it's individuality and entrepreneurship in favor of the collective and oppressive.

In Alabama: Atheists Protest

Atheist Group Tries to Stop Prayers at High School Football Games That Include 'Jesus'

An Alabama school district has been accused of allowing prayers that invoke the name of Jesus during high school football games, according to a complaint filed by a national atheist organization. The Times Daily newspaper identified the complainant as Jeremy Green. In an email to the newspaper, Green said he was taking a stand for the so-called "separation of church and state in an effort to protect the constitutional rights of the non-religious. "It is not the job of the public school system to endorse religion," he wrote. The Freedom from Religion Foundation filed a similar complaint against a school in Arab, Ala. That school decided to end pregame prayers and instead offer a moment of silence.

School superintendent Bill Valentine said they haven't made any decision about prayers for Friday night's football game. He said the complaint has generated lots of telephone calls - mostly in support of keeping the prayers. Among those is David McKelvey, pastor of the nearby First Baptist Church, Killen. He discussed the controversy during his Sunday sermon. "It's very sad," McKelvey told Fox News. "I would think that any other prayer from another religion would not receive this kind of negativity." (Fox News)

* Father God, we pray that all our symbols of our faith will not be ruled out of public places, but that everyone will have the freedom to exercise their faith as guaranteed by our First Amendment. We pray that the courts will rule that this First Amendment includes gatherings such as games and other public functions.

* Thus says the Lord: "The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush And of the Sabeans, men of stature, Shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; They shall walk behind you, They shall come over in chains; And they shall bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, 'Surely God is in you, And there is no other; There is no other God.' " (Isaiah 45:14)

In N.C. - New Pro-Life Law Takes Effect

Restrictive abortion law takes effect in North Carolina

One of the nation's most restrictive abortion laws went into effect Wednesday in North Carolina after a federal judge temporarily halted the law's most controversial requirement - that a woman getting an abortion must first view a narrated ultrasound image of the fetus. U.S. District Court Judge Catherine Eagles ordered a preliminary injunction late Tuesday, ruling that the ultrasound requirement likely violates patients' First Amendment rights. She upheld other sections of the law, including a 24-hour waiting period to provide information on abortion risks and alternatives.

The American Civil Liberties Union and four pro-choice groups contended in a lawsuit filed last month that requiring women to view ultrasound images and providing an opportunity to hear the fetal heartbeat promotes government-mandated ideology. Proponents of the law, passed by the Republican-controlled Legislature in July over the veto of Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue, say the requirement would promote childbirth and protect women from emotional trauma. (AP)

* Lord, we pray that the courts will rule that this procedure is not about mandated ideology, but rather it is like any other surgical procedure that requires added information in order to have informed consent. As with every surgery, all risks must be considered, and this law ensures that a woman will know the risks before choosing whether to have an abortion.

* When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. Have mercy on me, O Lord! Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, (Psalms 9:12, 13)

Rick Perry and Islam: Another Perspective

A note to our readers and prayer partners:

Recently, we prayed over a report from WorldNetDaily indicating the presidential candidate Rick Perry has had ties with various Islamic leaders in days past. That report can be found here.
Today, we want to report "the rest of the news" -- information that contradicts the first report, sent to us by Alice Patterson, President, Justice at the Gate in San Antonio, Texas. You will find her report below.

We want to thank Alice for her kindness in stepping forth on this vital issue, and we ask each of you to weigh this matter -- as well as all matters in this Election Cycle -- before the Lord. Amen.
(Is Perry) Aligning with Islamist Aga Khan?

One of the most insidious accusations against Gov. Perry concerns an alliance with a Muslim leader and cooperation with him in what goes into Texas textbooks insinuating that Perry is pro-Muslim, which presumes anti-Israel. You can find the truth in an article by David Stein here: http://www.countercontempt.com/archives/1945 called "Debunking the Rick Perry 'Pro-Sharia' School Curriculum Myth." This is very important. It's too long to cut and paste here, but please read through it, especially the verbatim excerpt from the textbooks about Israel.

The bottom line is that Aga Khan is a friend of Israel and of the United States. The textbook information about Israel is pro-Israel and pro-USA. Here is another article on the subject: http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/09/governor_perrys_islam_connection.html
Alice closes by saying:

God help us to discern and to make the right choice this time.

Appreciate you and your leadership to educate and call the nation to prayer.

"The God of Israel said,
The Rock of Israel spoke to me:

'He who rules over men must be just,
Ruling in the fear of God.
And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises,
A morning without clouds,
Like the tender grass springing out of the earth,
By clear shining after rain." (2 Samuel 23:3,4)

The Good News Corner:

The Bible Goes to Occupy Wall Street

Bringing Biblical Principles and the Gospel to the Occupy Wall Street Crowd

"Some of the teachings of Jesus Christ are being taken out of context by the protesters. . . The first century Christians gave from their heart, not because they were forced by the government."
The Occupy Wall Street protesters were joined recently by the Christian evangelistic group, Go Stand Speak, which came armed with Bibles and street preachers adept at communicating to the large crowd.

While many of the protesters may not like it; this really is a wonderful opportunity for Christians to bring the Word to hundreds of people in one place, as the "occupiers" have made themselves a captive audience.

Pat Necerato, Overseer of Go Stand Speak Ministries, explained, "The ideas and solutions of the Occupy Wall Street movement have consequences. Unless they become Biblical solutions, this movement will come to naught, regardless of how much attention it gets. More entitlements, taking from the rich and giving to the poor, bigger government and other socialist concepts, are not Biblical solutions. God's standards must be the foundation for all solutions if they are to succeed."
While some who heard the message from Go Stand Speak members were less than receptive-a few physically hostile; many reportedly seemed to be open and interested.

Necerato noted that some protesters have incorporated Scripture into their declared stand; however, it is a pick-and-choose-to-make-your-point kind of application.

"Some of the teachings of Jesus Christ are being taken out of context by the protesters," he explained. "For instance, 'Jesus told us to help the poor' and the communal aspect of the first century Christians (Acts chapter 2) are often used by the protesters as support for the communistic/socialist tendencies of the movement. Jesus and the Apostles were speaking about personal dealings among individuals, not governmental mandated or controlled wealth/property redistribution. The first century Christians gave from their heart, not because they were forced by the government."

Necerato added that, "Many of the problems we have are 'symptoms' of a deeper problem-we have turned from God as a whole in this nation. In the Bible, when abortion, homosexual marriage, fiscal dishonesty and other related sins become prevalent in a nation, God lifts His blessing. As a result, you get the problems we see in our country. It starts with the individual-from the bottom up; not from the top down with the government."

The group intends to continue preaching their message of Biblical principles to the "Occupy" crowd as long as they remain. For information about joining up with Go Stand Speak Ministries, log onto: www.gostandspeak.com [Reported by Aimee Herd, Breaking Christian News, October 27, 2011]

The Daily Brief - Wednesday, October 26, 2011

"Occupy till I come." (Luke 19:13b)

The Daily Brief

1. House Democratic Whip 'Not Optimistic' on Deficit Super Committee - CNSNews.com

House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that he was "not optimistic" that the Joint Committee tasked with finding $1.5 trillion in deficit reduction by Thanksgiving would be successful. Instead, Hoyer said he was "hopeful" the 12-member committee would succeed. "People ask me 'Are you optimistic?' I say 'Look, I'm not optimistic. I'm hopeful,'" Hoyer told reporters at his weekly press briefing Tuesday. Hoyer added that "hopeful is not confident."

- LORD, we cry to You to "open the eyes" of the citizens of America so we will obey You by electing righteous and law abiding, strong and wise leaders. May the coming elections bring a tidal wave of righteous leadership elected to all levels of government across the land. May we guard with courage and selflessness the great blessings which You have committed to our trust.

- "Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowlege." (1 Timothy 6:20)

2. Union President Testifies: ICE HQ Ordered Agents Not to Arrest Illegals--Including Fugitives - CNSNews.com

Chris Crane, president of a union that represents Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, testified in the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration last week that ICE agents have been told by ICE headquarters not to arrest illegal aliens who do not have a prior criminal conviction even if they are fugitives who have been ordered deported by an immigration judge or are individuals who have illegally re-entered the United States after being deported and thus have perpetrated a felony. "Aliens who could not be arrested included but were not limited to ICE fugitives that had been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge as well as aliens who had illegally re-entered the United States after deportation, a federal felony," Crane, who is also an active-duty ICE agent, told the committee on Oct. 12.

- Dear Lord, we thank You that this information has become public! We pray there will be tremendous pressure put on ICE headquarters, to cause them to immediately cease all orders and policies giving preferential treatment to lawbreaking illegal aliens. We pray that those who gave these orders will be held accountable. We also lift up to You Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona, and others who are fighting to keep "our inheritance from being turned over to aliens." We ask You to prosper those who use their leadership to rightly enforce the protective laws of this nation.

- "Remember O Lord, what has come upon us; look and behold our reproach! Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens, and our houses to foreigners." (Lamentations 5:1,2)

3. Pope to promote peace in talks with world religious leaders - Rapture Ready News

Pope Benedict XVI has invited 300 religious leaders to a meeting in Assisi in Italy to repudiate "violence in the name of God" amid growing tensions fuelled by fundamentalists across the world. Over 50 Islamic representatives are expected to attend the talks from several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran. They will be joined by Rabbis, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, a Zoroastrian, a Bahai and representatives of Taoism and Confucianism as well as of other traditional religions from Africa and America. For the first time, four atheists will also attend the meeting.

- LORD, Your Word is true! You are The Constant in this changing world. Men want to worship as men see fit, but You alone are worthy. Men want to seek answers as men see fit, but You alone are The Path to eternal life. There is no other Name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12); no other name by which peace can be found. Lord, may this Truth be evident in this gathering.

- JESUS said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But narrow is the gate and difficult is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. " (Matthew 7:13,14)

4. 'Occupy' Protesters 'Defecating on Our Doorsteps,' NYC Residents Complain - CNSNews.com

New Yorkers who live near the park where anti-Wall Street protesters have been camping out for more than a month are complaining that their quality of life has declined. At a two-hour meeting Thursday night, some neighbors said protesters urinated in the streets and beat drums in the middle of the night.

But the board voted unanimously for a resolution that recognized the protesters' First Amendment rights while calling for a crackdown on noise and public urination and defecation. U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and state Sen. Daniel Squadron called the community board's resolution "an attempt to establish a sensible framework that respects the protesters' fundamental rights while addressing the very real quality of life concerns for residents and businesses around Zuccotti Park.

- Lord, we have grieved as law abiding citizens have been arrested for simply praying on a sidewalk. Yet these debased individuals break the laws and find both reprieve and the affirmation of our President. May the law, which is for the lawless, be applied to these lawless and insubordinate, ungodly and profane.(1 Tim 1:9). May they fall into great disfavor and be held fully accountable for their actions. We also ask You to raise up strategically appointed believers to go and speak Your anointed Word on the streets of our cities with an anointing that will break the yoke of sin.

- "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting." Romans 1:28 "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. " (Proverbs 14:34)

5. Obama vows to bypass congress over economy - The Australian

Obama has vowed to issue executive orders from the White House bypassing congress wherever possible as he tries to kick-start the ailing US economy. Obama's threat yesterday marks a new phase in his stand-off with Republican opponents in the Senate, who have so far blocked his $US447 billion ($427bn) jobs revival plan. Spending money that is not his to spend -- impeachment is certainly not out of the question if he breaks the law.

- Bind the spirits of lawlessness and selfishness that seem to fuel the spirit of this president. The Constitution requires that he work in tandem with the Congress for the good of the people, and not by way of a series of executive orders, as a tyrant would do. Loose humility, grace, and wisdom upon the current occupant of the Oval Office. In His Name, amen.

A US government medical committee has recommended the human papillomavirus vaccine for boys, to tackle the spread of the sexually-transmitted virus. While the vaccine has been available to boys before, the vote means that injections are now likely to be covered under medical insurance. Officials said a lower than expected rate of vaccination in girls encouraged them to reconsider the policy.

- The cost of this new mandate will be $140 million a year of our hard-earned taxpayer money. Pray that Congress will review this recommendation carefully, and use great wisdom regarding its implementation. Please see a commentary, below, with more information on this news from the Family Research Council. Pray for wisdom.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)

7. Human Rights Group Warns: Egypt May Cover-Up Coptic Christian Killings - The Blaze

A leading international rights group has warned of a cover-up by the Egyptian military in the investigation of the killing of more than two dozen mostly Coptic Christian demonstrators in the deadliest single incident since the February overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak. The New-York based Human Rights Watch called Tuesday for the independent investigation of the October 9 deaths of 27 people, mostly Christian, in front of Cairo's state TV building in the Maspero district along the Nile.

- Pray that the truth is not hidden about this horrible massacre. Please see more, below, on the issue of religious persecution worldwide. The Blood of the Martrys now cries out against the nation of Egypt. Pray for justice!

- "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." (Rev. 12:11)

8. 2.5 Million Iranian Students to Celebrate 1979 U.S. Hostage Crisis by Marching in Support of Occupy Wall Street - The Blaze

Some 2.5 million Iranian students are commemorating what they call a "National Day Against Global Arrogance" on November 4th by rallying in solidarity with the "oppressed and deprived" members of Occupy Wall Street. The day signifies the 1979 takeover of the former U.S. embassy in Tehran by Muslim students, who held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. The Iran hostage crisis occurred during Jimmy Carter's presidency and ended with the hostages' release just moments after newly elected President Ronald Reagan delivered his inaugural address in 1981.

- Say what? We do not see any link between this planned protest in Tehran and the ongoing demonstrations of the OSW movement. Insanity seems to be breeding insanity. Sever the link in the spirit between the "rage" in Iran and the "rage" in America. Pray this down.

- "This far and no further and here shall your proud waves stop!" (Job 38:11)

Focus on DOMA Repeal

Senate Committee to Consider DOMA Repeal Next Week

Summary: "Respect for Marriage Act" shows no real respect for marriage.

On Nov. 3, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to begin debate on a bill that would effectively repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), opening the gate to same-sex marriage nationwide. "It will be an end run around all the states that have decided to protect marriage," said CitizenLink Federal Issues Analyst Ashley Horne.

More than 40 states have passed either laws or constitutional amendments defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman; earlier this year, a national poll revealed 62 percent of Americans think that's the only way it should be defined.

The Respect for Marriage Act -- S. 598, introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., in March -- could receive a committee vote anytime between Nov. 3 and Nov. 10. All 10 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee support it, outnumbering the eight Republicans there, so passage is likely. Once it reaches the full Senate, however, the bill's prospects become less clear.

"We don't have a pro-family majority in the Senate right now, so it's possible this bill would pass," said Horne. "But we'll continue to educate senators about the benefits of marriage for children and for society at large."

A companion bill in the U.S. House of Representatives, H.R. 1116, has 129 sponsors from both parties. President Obama has pledged to sign any bill repealing DOMA that reaches his desk.

Should that happen, same-sex couples would be eligible for federal marriage benefits nationwide--and both state and federal benefits if they live in a place where same-sex marriage is recognized, such as Massachusetts. The U.S. would also give marital benefits to same-sex couples legally married in another country, as long as at least one of them is a U.S. citizen.
In testifying before the Senate in July, Alliance Defense Fund Senior Legal Counsel Austin R. Nimocks noted government's only interest in marriage, traditionally, is children--who fare best with married biological mothers and fathers.

"This legislation seeks to replace the essential public purposes of marriage with various private purposes," he said. "Because of the fundamental truth that children are the product of sexual relationships between men and women, and that men and women each bring something important and unique to the table of parenting, this government maintains a compelling interest in protecting and preserving the institution of marriage as the union of one man and one woman." (CitizenLink)

TAKE ACTION

Tell your senators why the Respect for Marriage Act disrespects marriage, and ask them not to pass it.

Government Gives HPV Its Best Shot

As if there weren't enough controversy surrounding the HPV vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) just created more. In a formal recommendation Tuesday, the CDC's panel on immunizations advised that boys as young as 11 and 12 be inoculated as well. The vaccine was approved for boys in 2009, but when the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted to add it to the list of "recommended" vaccines for boys for the first time yesterday, it opened the door to more insurance companies--and taxpayers--footing the bill.

The public health case for boys to receive the vaccine is weaker than it is for girls. When a man contracts HPV, the result is usually genital warts (a much less serious symptom than cervical cancer), so it is questionable if the benefit is worth the cost (almost $400 for the three shots). The CDC is quick to point out that the vaccine also protects against anal, mouth, and throat cancer--but they downplay the fact that these cancers are almost entirely the result of men having homosexual sex!

Apart from the cost of the shots (upwards of $140 million a year), perhaps the most infuriating aspect of all this is the government's insistence that we look for ways to minimize the impact of promiscuity instead of working to encourage the end of it. Rather than asking young people to change their behavior, society is scrambling to enable it. It's like trying to address the problem of drunk driving by making better airbags. We can't tackle long-term safety with short-term solutions. And unfortunately, tiptoeing around the fundamental problem--premarital sex and homosexual sex--shows how far off course we are.

Vaccinating against HPV, while important, won't inoculate people from the other negative consequences of promiscuous sex--many of which are just as destructive. Some people have argued that it's "ethical" for boys to be vaccinated to protect their future sexual partners, but the most ethical answer of all is focusing on abstinence, which is the only 100% effective way to prevent all of the dangerous side-effects of sex outside of marriage. Of course, we're all told that it's unrealistic to think young people can abstain. But it's only unrealistic to the degree that we fail to challenge them to do so! (Family Research Council)

Focus: Legalize Gambling?

House Committee Discusses Legalizing Internet Gambling

Summary: No opposition among people who testified.

At a U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade hearing yesterday, six people testified about aspects of online gambling -- but not one opposed it outright.

Rather, most of the testimony centered on how to make sure people who do gamble online are protected from site operators and each other, and that interested parties all get a share of the revenues Internet gambling is expected to generate.

However, in discussing why federal legislators should make sure any Internet gambling bill they eventually pass sets aside at least $50 million a year for treatment programs, Keith Whyte, executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, made a few key observations.
"Studies throughout the world find relatively high rates of gambling problems among those who gamble online," he said, "though it's not clear if Internet gambling is a cause or effect of problem gambling."

The social cost of problem gambling in the U.S., Whyte said, is approximately $7 billion a year through addiction, bankruptcy and crime. Gambling addicts are five times more likely than other adults to be alcoholics, four times more likely to abuse drugs, three times more likely to be depressed or experience an anxiety disorder and eight times more likely to be bipolar. Approximately 20 percent of the members of Gamblers Anonymous have attempted suicide.

Forbes, McIntyre Announce 100 Member Milestone for Bipartisan Congressional Prayer Caucus

Washington, D.C. - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (Rep., VA-04) and Congressman Mike McIntyre (Dem., NC-07), Co-Chairmen of the bipartisan Congressional Prayer Caucus, announced today that the Caucus's membership has reached the milestone of 100 Members. The purposes of the Congressional Prayer Caucus are to 1) recognize the vital role that prayer by individuals of all faiths has played in uniting us as a people and in making us a more generous, more cooperative, and more forgiving people than we might otherwise have been; 2) collect, exchange, and disseminate information about prayer as a fundamental and enduring feature of American life; 3) utilize the legislative process - both through sponsorship of affirmative legislation and through opposition to detrimental legislation - to assist the nation and its people in continuing to draw upon and benefit from this essential source of our strength and well-being.

"Our nation was founded on the solid conviction that all men were endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; the faith that inspired our inception carried us through the struggles of establishing independence, developing our form of government, and prevailing in trying times. Yet across America, faith has come under attack, often disguised in the celebrated subtlety of political correctness. In response, the nearly one-in-four Members of Congress that comprise the Congressional Prayer Caucus are working to preserve the presence of religion, faith, and morality in the marketplace of ideas. The strength and size of this bipartisan Caucus is a testament to the importance of our nation's Judeo-Christian heritage that is worth defending," said Forbes.

"Now more than ever, our nation must turn back to prayer as the source of our strength, knowledge, and direction. By reaching this historic milestone, Members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus are joining together to seek that common good that unites us as a nation. The true source of prayer is not found in the halls of Congress, or in the Oval Office of the West Wing, or in the chambers of the Supreme Court - but rather it is found on our knees before the throne of grace of Almighty God. Prayer has always been at the foundation of the United States, and the Congressional Prayer Caucus will keep working and growing to preserve this bedrock belief," said McIntyre.

In 2005, Congressman Forbes gathered a small group of members of the U.S. House of Representatives who began meeting in Room 219 of the Capitol to pray for our nation, which they still do today. These Members later formed the Congressional Prayer Caucus - an official Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives - to formally acknowledge the important role that prayer plays in American life and history and to monitor and work to guard the right of individuals in America to pray. Currently, Congressman Forbes and Congressman McIntyre serve as the Co-Chairmen of this Caucus, which has grown to a bipartisan group of 100 Members dedicated to protecting religious liberty and recognizing our nation's rich, spiritual history.

Learn more about the Congressional Prayer Caucus here.
A full list of all Congressional Prayer Caucus Members is available here.

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners wishes to congratulate the Congressional Prayer Caucus on this momentous news. It is by the Grace of God that this Caucus has been established and has grown to serve as the strong voice it is today within the Halls of Congress, on behalf of our right to pray in our nation.

To GOD be the Glory! Great things He hath done!

"Occupy till I come." (Luke 19:13b)

The Daily Brief

1. U.S. likely to get second rating downgrade: Merrill - Financial Post

The United States will likely suffer the loss of its triple-A credit rating from another major rating agency by the end of this year due to concerns over the deficit, Bank of America Merrill Lynch forecasts.

- Lord, your word says to owe no one anything. We as a people and a nation have become in debt instead of being givers and lenders. We ask forgiveness of our greed and corruption, and not conducting business according to Your ways and under your guidance. Your word also says blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. We are losing our blessings because we as a nation have turned from You. You have a remnant here who are standing in the gap, repenting and asking for mercy and a turnaround in our financial situation, so that we may again bless others. Our credit rating is a reflection of our condition, and we ask for the Holy Spirit to provide leadership to get us back on the right path. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8)

2. Senators Outraged at U.S. Aiding, Banking on China - Fox News

Bipartisan group of senators criticize borrowing from China with one hand while providing aid with the other. The question is; why a nation that's competing with the U.S. economically and politically in every corner of the globe should get any money from the U.S.

- Thank you, Lord, there is a group of senators concerned about this issue. May the Holy Spirit guide them in their work. Your word instructs to put money in the bank, not borrow it. We realize many - including the government- are borrowing because they don't have the money at the time, but this brings bondage. We have not relied on You for our provision, for You are our provider. May our trust and faith in You grow - as it says on our money - in God We Trust. We have given much to other nations, and we thank you for that provision. We ask for prosperity once again for this nation. In Jesus name we ask. Amen.

- Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest. (Luke 19:23) Read more:

3. McCain raises prospect of military option in Syria - Breitbart

US Senator John McCain raised the prospect Sunday of possible armed intervention to protect civilians in Syria where a crackdown on pro-democracy protests has killed more than 3,000 people. "Now that military operations in Libya are ending, there will be renewed focus on what practical military operations might be considered to protect civilian lives in Syria," McCain told a World Economic Forum meeting in Jordan.

- Lord, we pray for guidance for Senator McCain and others on these military issues. We pray for our military and for their protection. We pray that right decisions be made regarding these issues.

- Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, God, who did not go out with our armies? Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies. (Psalm 60: 10-13)

4. US pulls Ambassador Robert Ford out of Syria - Jerusalem Post

The United States has pulled its ambassador out of Syria over security concerns that have arisen during a seven-month-old popular uprising against President Bashar Assad, Western diplomats said on Monday. Robert Ford left Syria over the weekend, they told Reuters.

- Lord, as we hear and see these reports over security concerns in Syria and so many places, we pray for the leaders, ambassadors, and decision makers, those in authority, as instructed in 1 Timothy: 2:1. We pray for the fear and knowledge of the Lord to come to them. Let your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We know there will be many trials in the last days before Your return, as You told us in Mathew 24. Holy Spirit, guide us in when, what, and how to pray. We are instructed to watch and pray and that is what we are doing. Have mercy and help us,O Lord.

- But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:34-36)

5. Vatican calls for global authority on economy, raps "idolatry of the market" - Reuters

The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a "global public authority" and a "central world bank" to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises. The document from the Vatican's Justice and Peace department should please the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn.

B. Vatican Calls for New World Economic Order - Fox News

The Vatican called Monday for radical reform of the world's financial systems, including the creation of a global political authority to manage the economy.

- Father, we continue to see end time prophecy unfolding before our eyes. We trust that You are in control, and nothing will be done out of Your order. May we keep our eyes on You, and not be shaken by events that are happening.

- The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)

6. Jobs plan stalled, Obama to try new economic drive - MSNBC

With his jobs plan stymied in Congress by Republican opposition, President Obama on Monday will begin a series of executive-branch actions to confront housing, education and other economic problems over the coming months, heralded by a new mantra: "We can't wait" for lawmakers to act.

- Lord Jesus have mercy on our nation. May our checks and balances remain in place in our Congress. Father, stop the Executive Branch from going about their "own business" and bypassing the legislature. We pray our leaders humble themselves and seek council before acting impulsively. Bring ideas to our leaders to solve the job crisis.

- Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers. (Proverbs 11:14)

Prophetic Clock Ticks: The White House's Islamic Revolution

The man who occupies the Oval Office has claimed victory in Libya, spending about a billion dollars of taxpayer money to topple the Gadhafi regime and replace it with Islamic fundamentalism. The president also praised the people of Tunisia for holding democratic elections after yet another US-supported overthrow of a government. The Islamist party Ennahda is expected to win the most votes according to the BBC. Obama announced an end to the Iraq War, at the same time Iran is stepping up its efforts to increase its influence over the country. Additionally, tensions with Syria are mounting, after the US ambassador there was currying favor with revolutionaries against the Assad regime.

Already things in Libya are going against what was billed to the American people. Some 53 decomposing bodies were found in Gadhafi's hometown. The New York-based Human Rights Watch surmises that these people were executed by the American-supported revolutionary forces because they were supporters of Gadhafi. This is a picture of democracy Islam-style. The UK Telegraph reports "Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council and de fact president, had already declared that Libyan laws in future would have Sharia, the Islamic code, as its "basic source". He already has reinstated polygamy and banned interest charged to Muslims by banks--all in line with Sharia.

The Jerusalem Post reports the Ennahda Party in Tunisia had been previously banned. The Ennahda is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. While Western journalists describe the party as moderate, its leadership seeks to establish Sharia Law and has promoted terrorism with its members bombing four tourist hotels in the 1980's and calling for attacks on US interests in the Middle East for America's invasion of Iraq. The leader of Ennahda referred to Islamic banking and finance, and Islamic family law being applied in Great Britain as the example of Sharia the party wanted to establish in Tunisia. In February, Ennahda Party members converged on Jewish Synagogues shouting "Allahu akbar."

The White House is amazingly moving the prophecy clock ahead by boosting radical Islam in the name of democracy. The abrupt pullout from Iraq opens the door to Iran. The regimes in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya will be replaced by Islamic power. The White House continues to pressure Israel to cut the nation into two pieces and give up part of Jerusalem to terrorists dressed in suits. Never before in history has America so blatantly supported Islam. The prophetic clock ticks forward with each day. Zechariah 12:3 says, "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Obama Bows To Islamists

In an unbelievable bow to Islamists, The Daily Caller reports that the Obama Administration has ordered law enforcement and national security communities to "eliminate all references to Islam" in their counterterrorism training materials. The action was reportedly taken in response to complaints from CAIR and other Muslim apologists. In fact, the president of the Muslim Public Affairs Council recently published an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times demanding a "clear and unequivocal apology to the Muslim American community" from the FBI and the Justice Department.

This is more evidence of the widespread denial and political correctness that infects our elites. This is not a war or terrorism. Terrorism is a tactic of war, but a war requires an enemy. If we are fighting a war on terrorism then World War II was a war on blitzkriegs and kamikazes. It is ludicrous to refuse to identify the enemy.

There are, no doubt, many Muslims who simply want to live peaceful lives. Most Muslims are not terrorists. But there were also many Germans who were not Nazis and simply wanted to live peaceful lives. With all due respect to the moderate Muslims, the Muslims who matter most are the ones trying to kill us. And it is vital that we understand what is motivating them to "kill the infidel." (Gary Bauer)

Update: Ground Zero Mosque

Con Ed says it will evict Ground Zero mosque

Con Ed has given the Ground Zero mosque an ultimatum: Pay the $1.7 million you owe in back rent, or we'll terminate your lease and take back our property. Con Ed and mosque developer Park51 have an unusual, uneasy alliance, sharing ownership of a site slated to be one of the most controversial projects in city history.

The utility owns a former substation on the western half of the property, at 51 Park Place, and the mosque developers own a five-story building on the eastern half. The buildings were connected years ago and used to house a Burlington Coat Factory store. But the plan hit a major obstacle in August when Con Ed raised the rent from $2,750 a month, a rate set in 1972, to $47,437 a month, retroactive to July 31, 2008, The Post has learned.

When the mosque failed to fork over the $1.7 million, the utility fired off a letter demanding the money by Oct. 4 and threatening to evict. Park51 principals responded with a lawsuit to stop the increase, calling Con Ed's rent demands "outrageous." "Whether it is bowing to political pressure or seeking to retain the valuable premises for itself, Con Ed appears intent on proceeding with its wrongful termination," argued Sharif El-Gamal, the lead Park51 developer. (New York Post) [Reported by Religious Freedom Coalition] Read more.

- Dear Lord, we praise You that this decision has been made by the electric company. We ask that You would bring the conclusion of the matter with a final and permanent withdrawal of the plans for this mosque. We look to You for the preservation of our country, our culture, and our right to worship You freely.

- "O my God, I trust in thee: let not mine enemies triumph over me." (Psalms 25:2)

Vanderbilt U. in the News

VANDERBILT UNIVERSITIES ATTACK ON RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Congressman Forbes appeared on Fox News last week to discuss Vanderbilt University's treatment of Christian student groups. Forbes is the Co-Chairman of the Prayer Caucus. The university demands that Christian groups allow atheist and Muslim leaders. Several religious student organizations have been placed on "provisional status" for requiring their student leaders to share the groups' religious beliefs. The Prayer Caucus sent a letter to Vanderbilt Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos urging him to ensure that the school's nondiscrimination policy is not being interpreted in a manner that discriminates against religious student groups. Political and other student groups are allowed to select leaders who share the groups' views; religious student groups are being prohibited from doing so. Watch the interview here. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

- Father, we come against the thinking that comes into agreement with the anti-Christ spirit in our educational systems, especially at the college level. Lord, we ask that You would move on the administration to correct this injustice. We ask that help would come to the Christian groups to withstand this onslaught.

-"Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph." (Amos 5:15 NKJV)

Hearings on Islamic Slavery

CHRIS SMITH HEARINGS ON ISLAMIC SLAVERY

Yes, there is plenty of slavery in the world today and most of it is in Islamic nations. Virtually every slave brought to the United States was sold by Islamic slave traders, and they are still at work today. Chris Smith held hearings on the Christians kidnapped in the South Sudan and forced into slavery in the Islamic north just as liberal commentator Ellen Ratner returned from there. Her report on slavery there is intriguing considering that most of her fellow Liberals can find no evil at all in Islam. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

[Please read her horrific report by going here.]

- Lord Jesus, the profound evilness of humans using other humans as 'just things', as base functioning animals to be exploited for work and convenience, has been a curse for a large part of human history. Here is a firsthand report of how this evil is being perpetuated by the same spiritual stronghold that sold America its slaves and these current slaves, their treatment is just as horrific if not worse.

Lord, forgive us that somehow this darkness continues all over the earth yet so many who claim belief in You in this nation seem oblivious to this horror. Awaken Your church, Lord, to challenge and rise up against this depravity, either participating in actions to change this, donating to support it and definitely being in prayer for You Glory, Mercy and Light to be shed into these suffering, persecuted peoples' lives. In Jesus Name, Amen and Amen!

- "But the transgressors shall be destroyed together, the future of the wicked shall be cut off." (Psalm 37:38)

"Prisoner of Conscience"

CONGRESSMAN FRANK WOLF: THE BOOK

In his new book, Prisoner of Conscience respected congressman and human and religious rights crusader Frank Wolf shows what one person can do to fight injustice and relieve suffering. In Prisoner of Conscience, Wolf shares intimate stories of his adventures from the halls of political power to other dangerous places around the world, what he has learned along the way, and what you can do as a citizen now. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

- Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up praise for the inspiration of a life 'fueled' by faith in You and Your Word, and for the message of how You through this man have been a shining 'Light' in an ever darkening world, both within Congress and around other dark places on our planet. In Jesus Name, Amen and Amen!

- "But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." (John 3:21 )

Man Helps Rescue His Fiancée from Quake Rubble in Turkey

Eastern Turkey)-Amid the panic and the sadness that accompanies any disaster like the 7.2 earthquake that hit eastern Turkey on Sunday, there are some glimmers of light as survivor stories emerge.

One of those is of a man whose fiancée, a 25-year-old teacher named Gul Karacoban was last seen in the area where there had been a great deal of destruction.

As soon as he heard about the deadly quake, air force Lieutenant Onur Eryasar jumped into his car at his base in Van and sped to his fiancée's location, some 60 miles away in Ercis-one of the hardest hit areas.

In speaking with her friends and colleagues, Eryasar was able to track down the building where she had gone to eat lunch. Nearing the collapsed building, he began to shout her name, and was met with the distant voices of others buried under the rubble.

Eryasar told a Reuters news crew, "All I want is for her to live, I don't care if she injured or not. It doesn't matter, I just want her alive."

Alerting rescue workers, they began to dig and late on Monday morning, Eryasar was delighted to see his betrothed beloved alive and conscious-one of those rescued from the debris. (Reuters)

1. FEMA PLANS FIRST-EVER NATIONWIDE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST

On November 9, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct the first-ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), a test that will last for approximately three minutes. The EAS is a system designed to transmit emergency alerts and warnings to the public at the national, state, and local levels. The purpose of the test is to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the system as a way to alert the public during nationwide emergencies.

Although the EAS test will be initiated by FEMA, the FCC is telling local governments they can use the test as an opportunity to work with local broadcasters and cable providers to educate appropriate government officials and staff about the EAS, such as how it works and when it should be activated. Finally, the FCC is asking local government officials to help inform residents in advance of the test, so that they will know what to expect. (National League of Cities) Read more.

- Lift up a prayer that, on Wednesday, November 9, the public be fully aware of the activities related to this FEMA exercise, so as to not cause unnecessary panic. Pray that those in authority inside FEMA and the FCC will move in perfect synchronicity with each other, so that all lines of communication will be working at 100% capacity. Pray, too, that at the end of the day, any lessons to be learned from this exercise will be duly noted and corrected. In His Name, amen.

- "The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous And His ears are open to their cry." (Psalm 34:15)

2. WORDS OF WISDOM TO OBAMA FROM SENATE GOP LEADER MCCONNELL

"It's completely preposterous at a time when 14 million Americans are looking for a job in this country for the President to be riding around on a bus saying we should raise taxes - on the very folks who create jobs. Think about that: We've got 14 million people out of work, and two self-identified conservatives for every liberal in this country, and the President's out there doing his best Howard Dean impersonation. He's completely out of touch. Let's forget about tax hikes. Let's drop the talking points about millionaires and billionaires. And let's work together on bipartisan jobs legislation that's designed to pass, not fail."

That is a quote from the outstanding speech by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell from Kentucky on the Senate floor on Wednesday. The Senate leader is obviously getting fed-up with the non-stop reelection campaigning by Barack Obama who has refused - since his devastating defeat in last year's mid-term election and the turn-over of the United States House of Representatives to the Republicans - to govern America. (Christian Coalition of America)

- Sen. Mitch McConnell expresses the annoyance of many, many Americans with this current president, who seems oblivious to any concerns except his own. Ask the Lord to remove Obama's grasp on taxpayer funds and teach him how to manage his own funds and those accrued by his wife Michelle. Sen. McConnell should stay in the fight against the president's wasteful behavior, for it is the responsibility of Congress to call the executive branch to account.

- "Lord, how long will the wicked , how long will the wicked triumph?" (Psalm 94:3)

3. SENATE VOTES DOWN TRIMMED VERSION OF OBAMA'S JOBS BILL

Despite a campaign-style push this week by President Barack Obama, the Senate on Thursday scuttled pared-back jobs legislation aimed at helping state and local governments avoid layoffs of teachers and firefighters.

Obama's three-day bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia -- states crucial to his re-election race next year -- didn't change any minds among Senate Republicans, who filibustered Obama's latest jobs measure to death just as they killed his broader $447 billion jobs plan last week.

Obama said in a statement that it was "unacceptable" that Republicans would again obstruct a bill that would "create jobs and get our economy going again." "For the second time in two weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again. That's unacceptable. We must do what's right for the country and pass the common-sense proposals in the American Jobs Act," he said. . . (Fox News)

- Continue to ask our Lord to grant His wisdom to the members of the House and the Senate, to break the current impasse in unemployment and write legislation that would move our economy forward again. May they come up with a commonsense bill that would meet the needs of American workers and their employers in this still great nation. Amen.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)

4. NAPOLITANO: DHS AUTHORIZING ILLEGAL ALIENS TO WORK IN U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security has a policy of allowing some illegal aliens to work in the United States, confirmed agency head Janet Napolitano, reports CNSNews.com. "Prosecutorial discretion" gives the agency leeway, Napolitano told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

"According to the information from your department, some individuals who are given relief will obtain work authorizations. So people with no right to be in the country will be allowed to work here. Is that correct?" asked Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.

Napolitano said a policy allowing illegals to work has been in place since 1986, but did not name the policy. CNS News points out that late President Ronald Reagan signed into law the Simpson-Mazzoli Act that year, which allowed illegal aliens who had entered the United States before Jan. 1, 1982, to request a change of work status. It is unclear whether or not Napolitano was referring to this legislation or how it would apply to current cases. (CNSNews.com)

- Abba Father, deliver us from lying tongues and twisted deceptions. Have Mercy, Lord, on this nation. We fall in repentance before You and ask for forgiveness for our sins and lawlessness. Our constitutional laws are based on Your Word and are being damaged, and destroyed through acts of deception, schemes and lies. Deliver us Lord Jesus, Amen!

- "There are six things the Lord hates. Yes seven are an abomination to Him. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans.; feet that are swift in running to evil; a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19)

5. REP. JESSE JACKSON JR. DEMANDS OBAMA SUSPEND CONSTITUTION
TO CREATE JOBS

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., drew heavy criticism from fellow Democrats and his Republican colleagues for demanding Obama suspend the U.S. Constitution and declare a national jobs emergency. Jackson told The Daily Caller last week that the president should use "extra-constitutional" authority to resolve the employment crisis by creating jobs outside of the normal legislative process. His comments drew immediate criticism from his primary opponent as well as other members of the House of Representatives. Former congresswoman Debbie Halvorson, Jackson's Democratic opponent in next year's primary election, said he has failed to introduce a jobs bill during his 16 years in the House. (Yahoo News) Read more.

- God, we ask that this demand be met with defeat, and that these words against our Constitution and our economy fall to the ground and die. Lord, take our economy out of the hands of erratic leaders and transfer it back into the hands of democratic-minded Americans who have followed the precepts of God and our Constitution to provide jobs for our people. We pray that the wealth of the wicked will be stored up for the righteous and jobs will continue to be created to provide for a healthy American economy. We call out to a merciful Father to provide for Your people. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

- [For this statement by Rep. Jackson] " . . . the voices of the nobles were hushed, and their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths." (Job 29:10)

6. OBAMA OPPOSES REPEAL OF HEALTHCARE PROGRAM SUSPENDED LAST WEEK

Obama is against repealing the health law's long-term-care CLASS Act and might veto Republican efforts to do so, an administration official tells The Hill, despite the government's announcement Friday that the program was dead in the water. "We do not support repeal," the official said Monday. "Repealing the CLASS Act isn't necessary or productive. What we should be doing is working together to address the long-term care challenges we face in this country."

Over the weekend, The Hill has learned, an administration official called advocates of the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act to reassure them that Obama is still committed to making the program work. That official also told advocates that widespread media reports on the program's demise were wrong, leaving advocates scratching their heads.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Friday in a blog post on the liberal Huffington Post website that the administration did not see a way to make the program sustainable. Sebelius indicated her agency hadn't been able to figure out a way to ensure the program providing long-term care paid for itself as required by law.

Later in a call with reporters on Friday, an HHS official said work on the program was being suspended. "We won't be working further to implement the CLASS Act. . . . We don't see a path forward to be able to do that," Assistant Secretary for Aging Kathy Greenlee told reporters on Friday. (The Hill; 10/17/11 ) Read more.

- Abba Father, have mercy upon us and deliver us from any and all aspects of the government-dictated, controlled heath care schemes. Past history shows how poorly governmentally controlled programs are administered and conditions in the EU reinforce how unworkable and sustainable they are. Free us Lord! We as Your remnant bride know that from You and You alone can we be delivered from all evil intentions of the enemy arising out of this hideous law. In Jesus' blessed name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "If You Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord, More than those who watch for the morning - Yes, more than those who watch for the morning." (Psalm 130:3-6)

7. OBAMA ADMIN. HIDES PUBLIC COMMENTS AGAINST OBAMACARE MANDATE

The Obama administration today is coming under fire from pro-life advocates who submitted tens of thousands of public comments opposing a new mandate that would force insurance companies to cover birth control, contraception and drugs that may cause abortions. The administration has initially approved a recommendation from the Institute of Medicine suggesting that it force insurance companies to pay for birth control and drugs that can cause abortions under the Obamacare government-run health care program.

Several leading pro-life groups - including the Family Research Council and the nation's Catholic bishops, among others - had led the charge to urge pro-life Americans to speak out against the recommendation, the mandate to force coverage and the lack of conscience protections of religious groups that don't want to be forced to purchase insurance coverage with those objectionable provisions to send comments to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Even though tens of thousands of pro-life Americans have done so, Jeanne Monahan of FRC says the Obama administration is not making those comments public, as promised. (LifeNews.com) Read more.

- Pray that these protests to the Obamacare bill be made public. There is no reason why those who disapprove of abortions should be paying for them. Over 12,000 protests have been made to the federal government by the FRC, not counting the Roman Catholic protests sent in, yet very few have been publicized, due to the loyalty of Mrs. Sebelius to the Obama administration. Ask the Lord to move on her spirit to reveal the truth. Keep pushing against nefarious and clandestine activities against this nation. The Lord surely hears our cries.

- "The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them." (Proverbs 11:3)

8. SEBELIUS ADMIN. DESTROYED RECORDS IN CASE AGAINST PLANNED PARENTHOOD

Another layer to the depth of the Sebelius abortion corruption has been revealed with today's AP report that Kansas health department (KDHE) in 2005 destroyed the state late-term abortion reports at the heart of the felony charges against Planned Parenthood. The pre-trial hearing for felony "false-writing" charges had been scheduled for Monday Oct. 24, Since the original reports have now been discovered as destroyed, the Johnson County District attorney's office had asked for a delay so they could engage other witnesses to verify the authenticity of copies of the state reports. The state reports are verifications that abortionists send to KDHE for statistical purposes, and are annually tabulated and published. Copies of those reports are required to be kept in the patient medical files. Of crucial importance is that these reports fail to provide valid medical reasons that banned post-viability abortions were performed. They are evidence of illegal abortion. (LifeNews.com) Read more.

- Here is another case of lying and destroying of records that reveals what the Obama administration is really interested in: the deception of American citizens! Pray that the charges of "false writing" in this trial will reveal the truth. Pray against any bribery offered and accepted by attorneys, judges, and all others associated with this felony. Ask the Lord to bring salvation to Mrs. Sebelius and repentance for being criminally involved in cases involving the Obama administration.

- "Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandment." (Psalm 112:1)

9. SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS WILL INCREASE BEGINNING IN 2012

After two years without an increase in benefits, 55 million Social Security recipients will finally get a raise next year.

Experts project the increase will be about 3.5 percent. The Social Security Administration is scheduled to make it official Wednesday when the government releases an inflation measure that determines the annual cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA.

Monthly Social Security payments average $1,082, or about $13,000 a year. A 3.5 percent increase would amount to an additional $38 a month, or about $455 a year. Some of the increase in January will be lost to higher Medicare premiums, which are deducted from Social Security payments. Medicare Part B premiums for 2012 are expected to be announced next week, and the trustees who oversee the program are projecting an increase.(AP) Read more.

-Lord Jesus, awaken the eyes of the mind and heart of seniors to perceive the deception behind this announcement. Yes, we are thankful for an increase for those who truly are needy but deception lurks behind this act. We stand in the gap before You that many will Not be deceived as this increase is gobbled up by a burdensome governmentally controlled medical agency heading for bankruptcy. Deliver us as a people from these deceptions. In the Name of Messiah Jesus, Amen and Amen!!

- "When wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things." (Proverbs 2:10-12)

10. CAIR DEMANDS MILITARY CHANGE UNIFORMS

It starts in high school, then where. The Counsel on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) sent a letter last week to the superintendent of Williamson County Schools demanding a formal apology be issued to Miss Zawity and that she be allowed to participate in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Program (JROTC) program wearing her hijab. She was banned from the program because she demanded to be the only student in uniform wearing a hijab. For CAIR and the rest of the Muslim Brotherhood, this is not about the JROTC or Zawity. It is the first attempt to change the uniforms of the United States military to conform with sharia law. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

-In the strong name of Jesus, we come against the subtle attempt to bring the US military in compliance with Sharia law. We bind up this anti-Christ spirit of takeover that forces women to be second class citizens while at the same time denying basic rights to Christians in the countries they control. Lord, cause the school and the JROTC to stand strong against this pagan demand.

- "The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect." (Psalms 33:10)

11. FACTORS DECIDING CONTROL OF THE HOUSE IN 2012

Twenty-five: That's a magic number for Democrats as the 2012 elections creep closer. Twenty-five is the number of House seats Democrats need to secure to again rule the House.

That's a tall order. And there is a series of factors already in play which could help swing control of the House in 2013.

26 could be the new 25: The current breakdown is 242-192 in favor of Republicans. There's one vacancy: Former Rep. David Wu (D-OR) resigned earlier this year amid an ethical cloud. That's a district the parties will wrestle over in an upcoming special election. Republicans are optimistic that Wu's demise could present an opening in a place which Democrats have held for more than 30 years. . . So if Democrats lose this seat, the magic number escalates to 26.

The Giffords Factor: The future of the political career of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) remains unclear. The fact that Giffords rallied to unexpectedly return to Washington for a vote on the debt ceiling agreement in August only fueled speculation that she would run again. She continues to raise money. And there's even a chance that Giffords could run for the Senate seat that Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-AZ) is vacating in 2013. But until Giffords makes a decision, no one can truly handicap this race. If Giffords doesn't run, Republicans would apply a full-court press to capture her seat, as the Arizona Democrat wrested it from Republican control in 2006 when former Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) retired. (Fox News) Read more.

- Continue to pray without ceasing over every aspect of the election next year in both the legislative and executive branches of our government - Congress and the White House. Let freedom ring; let justice prevail!

- "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)

12. October 15, 2011: THE DAY OBAMA'S ARMY OCCUPIED THE FREE WORLD

Welcome to a hostile New World that arrived on society's doorstep with the dawning of this very day. Overnight the Army of Hussein Obama moved in to our cities to occupy some 82 countries, including Canada where it really all began.

The people milling about in public parks in cities now under Occupation look like harmless hippies, but they're conscripted soldiers for Obama, some on pay better than what is being paid to selfless soldiers of the real army risking life and limb for freedom in countries far from home.

It's a momentous but sad day for the up-to-now Free World of the West. History will record that while the populations of some 82 countries were going about their business trying to get through another day of a Global Recession, teetering on collapse, is precisely when Obama moved his army into their country.

We recognize real Armies by their Armed Forces uniforms. This is an Army that looks too hideous to be taken seriously, but it is all the same an army hiding behind the face of 'democracy' with false promises for Hope and Change to make life better for the masses.

Never forget that this is an Army more dangerous than any other. It is an army whose members are being paid to bring about Revolution. (Source: Judi McLeod, Canada Free Press) Read more.

- Oh Abba Father, the stench of such profound evil arising out of these protests is overwhelming. The twisted rhetoric of inverted envy, greed, covetousness, and sense of entitlement we know arises from the enemy of our souls! We take up the sword of Your Spirit, Word and Truth, and cut, slash and shatter all the lies being spewed forth. We plead the Blood of Jesus and for Your Mercy to flow over our lands, Lord! Show forth Your Light and allow Your Glory to shine into the darkness being spread worldwide by these actions. We bind and rebuke the strongholds and spirits driving these protests, in the Name of Jesus, and we ask for these captive souls to be set free to know You and to worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Amen and Amen.

- "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God; that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me." (Acts 26:18)

The People of the Earth Learn Righteousness

With Barry and Linda Battelstein
Chaim Ministries

Saturday, October 29, 2011
Church on the Rock
14310 Sullyfield Circle, Suite 350
Chantilly, VA 20151

Dear Friends,

You are cordially invited to attend an afternoon of fellowship with Barry and Linda Battelstein. Their message will be on understanding the times and seasons, and will be taught from Isaiah 29:6:

"With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness."

Barry and Linda have been in ministry to the Word of God for both Israel and the church for over fifteen years. Barry was born and raised Jewish, and came to know Yeshua as His Messiah through a personal experience with Him in the late 1980ʼs. Barry married Linda shortly after.

After being called by the Lord in 1997 to "Go teach His people", The Lord sent them to Israel where they established Israeli citizenship. They lived there for eight years where Barry taught in different venues and wrote multiple books. Their calling has been to "open the eyes of the blind" and "turn the hearts of the people back to their God."

Barry and Linda have been back in the United States for a short season, and for the past three years have been teaching and "awakening" the church to its Jewish roots, as well as continuing to proclaim the prophetic Word of God as it relates to what is happening in Israel, America, and the other nations. Come and join us as we learn more from Barry and Linda Battelstein.

On Capitol Hill This Week; Vol. XVIII, No. 32b

Focus on Legislation:

Introduction

In addition to the bills in Congress that are of major concern (cited in our Domestic Issues section), we also feature other bills of concern in this section.

As you will see below, these bills are generally separated into two groups: those we wish to support in prayer, and those we wish to see defeated.

Our plumbline is always the Word of God: those bills we wish to support in prayer are in alignment with the Word, and the will, of God; those bills to be defeated, are not.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us as we pray for the hearts of our leaders . . . that they might know the mind of Christ and pass legislation, accordingly. Amen!

Bills to Support in Prayer

Please lift up the members of Congress or the Senate who are sponsoring these bills, with the promise of Scripture, below.

"He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers." (Psalm 1:3)

1. H.Res.642 - Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2011

Purpose: To prevent the Federal Communications Commission from repromulgating the fairness doctrine.

H.R. 642 amends the Communications Act of 1934 to prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from having the authority to require broadcasters to present opposing viewpoints on controversial issues of public importance, commonly referred to as the Fairness Doctrine. This bill is sponsored by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) and has 145 cosponsors.

To learn more about the Fairness Doctrine, go here.

2. H. Res. 253: Designating the First Week in May as "America's Spiritual Heritage Week"

This bill affirms the rich spiritual and religious history of our Nation's founding and subsequent history and expressing support for designation of the first week in May as "America's Spiritual Heritage Week" for the appreciation of and education on America's history of religious faith. H. Res. 253 is sponsored by Congressman Randy Forbes.

3. H.Res. 211: Recognizing the Importance of the Ten Commandments in our Founding Documents

This piece of legislation is aimed at recognizing the important influence the Ten Commandments had on our Founding Documents and Principles. Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) is the sponsor of this bill. Read status here.

4. H.Res. 2023: Public Expression of Religion Act

If passed into law, this bill would limit the remedies available to parties that bring lawsuits against expressions of religion . . . The bill would modify the law so each side pays its own attorney fees, removing the monetary incentive that activist groups have in bringing these types of cases. The sponsor of this bill is Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN).

Read status here.

5. H.Res. 2070: The World War II Memorial Prayer Act of 2011

Please pray for World War II Memorial Prayer Act of 2011 which would require the Secretary of the Interior to place a plaque at the World War II Memorial or inscribe on the Memorial President Franklin D. Roosevelt's D-Day prayer, which has been entitled "Let Our Hearts Be Stout."

The sponsor of H.Res. 2070 is Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH). Read more here.

Bills and Actions to Block in Prayer

"The voice of nobles was hushed, And their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth." (Job 29:10)
Prayer Decrees:

1. Ask our Lord to forgive those who are sponsoring bills with wicked agendas, for they know not what they do.

"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:24)

[Please remember: we are commanded to forgive, whether we feel like it or not!]

2. Ask our Lord to impact the life of each member, bringing them to repentance unto salvation.
"(The Lord is) not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

3. When praying over each bill specifically, ask our Lord to intervene, bringing its progress to an end.

"This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!" (Job 38:11)

4. Finish by praising Him that He is in control and that He is working out everything according to His plan.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

OPPOSE S. 978: FEDERAL POLICING OF INTERNET COPYRIGHT ISSUES

-- Copyright policing is not the proper role of government.

New legislation, S. 978, to "amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes," is causing quite a stir on the Internet. The measure would make online streaming of copyrighted content a felony, accompanied by some dramatic consequences - fines and jail time.

One of the biggest discussions about S. 978 is whether ordinary users of the Internet - not those who deliberately intend to profit from illegal copyright infringement or streaming - can be criminalized for embedding YouTube videos, unaware that those containing even background music are copyrighted. The authors of the bill say it's not their intent to put people in jail for continuing to use YouTube as it is used and viewed today - under "fair use" understanding - but it could be a consequence of the bill.

There are already copyright laws on the books. These laws do require that the copyright holders are responsible for bringing a civil suit against a suspected infringer, and for bearing the cost of the legal fees that could bring them a windfall of compensatory damages, if they win their case. But with S. 978, new tools would be handed over to the Department of Justice, FBI, Homeland Security, and other agencies, courtesy of taxpayer money, to provide the muscle, legwork, and enforcement necessary to secure and protect a small subset of copyrights.

Contact your Senators and Representatives immediately, and let them know copyright policing is not the proper role of government and that there are already existing legal tools that can be used for real copyright infringements.

Read status here.

In the Judiciary:

"They will sing before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth." (Psalm 96:13)

1. Supreme Court declines to hear case challenging school day moment of silence

The Supreme Court has declined to hear a case challenging an Illinois statute that requires a moment of silence at the start of each school day. As such, the Seventh Circuit's ruling upholding the constitutionality of the statute will stand. The moment of silence had been challenged as a violation of the Establishment Clause. Read more.

2. Federal court hears challenge to public school prayer mural; judge exits courtroom to see the display

On Thursday, a federal district court heard arguments in a case regarding the constitutionality of a prayer mural that has hung in a Rhode Island public school for almost 50 years. The judge recessed the hearing to visit the school and view the banner for himself. The ACLU sued on behalf of an offended student, alleging that the display violates the Establishment Clause. The mural contains a prayer that students would develop in positive ways.

3. NINTH CIRCUIT REFUSES TO HEAR MT. SOLEDAD CASE

On Friday, the infamous 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco -- the nation's most leftist and ineffective appeals court -- continued its anti-Christian jihad as it refused to rehear the case of the Mount Soledad War Memorial Cross being removed by various liberal state and federal judges. This beautiful 29-foot cross sits on public land on a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean which has been seen by countless millions over the decades. It was dedicated in 1954 in honor of Korean War veterans.

Retired Air Force Colonel Bruce S. Baily, president of the Mount Soledad Memorial Association, was quoted in yesterday's "The Washington Times" as saying: "People want this veteran's memorial to remain as it is, from the thousands who visit it each month to honor our nation's veterans, to the 76% of San Diegans who voted to give it to the federal government as a national veterans' memorial."

Without any doubt, this recent abominable ruling of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals -- allowing removal of the Mount Soledad War Memorial Cross -- will be reversed by the United States Supreme Court at some point in time; hopefully sooner, rather than later. (Christian Coalition of America)

- Lord God, we ask You to wipe the history of this court clean and send angels to surround this area. Set up a protective guard that will prevent all evil from crossing the threshold. Call in men and women of sound morals and godly principles, who live with a holy reverence and fear of the Lord God in heaven so that this court will be totally transformed. We thank and praise Your Name, my God. We ask this in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

- "Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is." (I Corinthians 3:13)

4. DOMA Military Challenge Expected by November

Following the official repeal of the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) policy, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) will face another frontal assault in federal court by the end of October.

The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network -- the same activist group that lobbied for the repeal of DADT -- said over the weekend that it will file a lawsuit before November on behalf of gay-, lesbian- and bisexual-identified service personnel in legal same-sex marriages who want spousal benefits for their partners. Though many people concerned about DOMA raised questions about this scenario before DADT was repealed, the U.S. Department of Defense never answered them.

The Obama administration announced in February it would no longer defend DOMA in ongoing or future court challenges. Meanwhile, a bill to officially repeal the law is scheduled for discussion in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in November.

If the timing seems propitious, says retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Bob Maginnis, it's only due to careful planning. Maginnis, who was on the Pentagon team in the1990s that preserved DADT, said gay activists have been aiming to take down marriage all along. "Let there be no doubt: Homosexual activists have taken captive one of the nation's most conservative institutions," he told Citizen, "and they intend to use it as a platform to further transform the nation's moral landscape." (CitizenLink)
- God, we ask that a line be drawn and this group of gay activists be held down and defeated by the mighty warring angels from heaven. Protect our sons and daughters in the military, my God. Almighty God, oppose all the evil spirits that are targeting our respected military and close the doors where they no longer have access but are commanded to be locked out by the blood of Jesus Christ and His mighty Name.

- "Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked, for the evildoer has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out." (Proverbs 24:19,20)

1. PALESTINIANS TO PUSH FOR UN MEMBERSHIP NOVEMBER 11

Palestinian diplomats are trying to muster support for a U.N. Security Council vote in New York on Nov. 11 on their bid for membership in the global body, a senior Palestinian official said Thursday. U.N. diplomats said earlier this week that a Security Council committee considering the membership bid would deliver a report on that day, and that ambassadors would then decide on the next steps. Any member of the Security Council can request a vote on the Palestinian request, but a resolution recommending membership requires a minimum of nine "yes" votes and no veto by one of the council's five permanent members _ Britain, China, France, Russia and the U.S. Washington, Israel's closest ally, has already pledged to use its veto if Palestinian membership gets the support of nine or more council members.

Once the 15-member Security Council recommends a country's membership its application must be approved by a two-thirds vote in the 193-member General Assembly.

Elections to replace five nonpermanent members of the Security Council on Friday [a normal rotation cycle] could create a grouping even less likely to approve the Palestinians' bid, if it rolls over into the new year. Winners will take their posts Jan. 1. Strong Palestinian backers Brazil and Lebanon, along with Nigeria and Gabon, will be leaving the council at the same time. Guatemala, running unopposed for the lone Latin America seat, has never recognized a Palestinian state. Neither has Slovenia, one of three candidates for the East European seat being vacated by Bosnia. The rest of the candidates have all recognized a Palestinian state: Togo, Mauritania, Morocco, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Pakistan and Kyrgystan

"The addition of Guatemala and the subtraction of Brazil would make it a bit more difficult" to get statehood approved, if the vote is held over, said Warren Hoge, senior adviser for external relations at the International Peace Institute, a New York think tank. (Times Online) Read more.

- Father in heaven, this bid for Palestinian membership in the United Nations reeks of Islam's war-like attitude to gain more control over the nations. And by the power of God vested in us we decree that the spiritual stronghold of Islam is destroyed by the Word of God, including all the hoards of evil spirits that empower this wicked system God, we decree total failure to the evil spiritual powers that would seek to deceive through lies and false agreements. May they all be defeated, disarmed, disqualified, made useless and unnecessary, and totally pushed out by the blood of Jesus Christ. Hold back the vote until next year, that one cannot agree with the other and cast down every lie and deception so that no nation will vote for Palestinian membership to the U.N. In the mighty Name of Jesus we pray.

- "Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, which frames mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood. But the Lord is our defense; and our God is the rock of our refuge." (Psalm 94:19-22)

2. CHIEF OF STAFF GANTZ TO SFC SHALIT: YOU ARE A HERO

IDF [Israel Defense Force] Spokesperson, Brigadier General Yoav (Poly) Mordechai on Tuesday afternoon [October 18] provided an update on the condition of SFC Gilad Shalit. Brig. Gen. Mordechai said that SFC Shalit had already undergone initial physical and psychological tests before being flown to Tel Nof.

"The flight was exciting for him and after we landed, Gilad Shalit saluted the prime minister, chief of the general staff and the defense minister," Brig. Gen. Mordechai said. "The chief of staff [Lieutenant General Benny Gantz] told Gilad Shalit that he is a hero and brave and that he is proud of him."

A minute later, SFC Shalit was reunited with his family. Later, accompanied by his family, SFC Shalit began further medical checks. "We understand that for large periods of time, he was exposed to media, including radio," Brig. Gen. Mordechai said of Shalit's time in captivity.

Brig. Gen. Mordechai repeated his request that the privacy of SFC Shalit and his family be respected. "The IDF is proud of Gilad's steadfastness and determination over the years," Brig. Gen. Mordechai said. "We will continue to support him and give him strength." (By The Israel Defense Force, October 18, 2011)

- Praise God for hearing all the prayers raised up to heaven on Gilad Shalit's behalf for over five years! Praise Him for Gilad's good condition. Pray that his adjustment to life back in Israel, mentally and emotionally, will be easy.

- "Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living." (Psalm 116:7-9) [From: Bridges for Peace]

3. DAY OF DECISION AND HEARTBREAK

Monday [October 17] was one of the hardest days for the judges at Israel's Supreme Court of Justice when the representatives of families of terror victims petitioned the High Court to overturn the government decision to release 1,027 Palestinian terrorists in exchange for captured IDF [Israel Defense Force] soldier Gilad Shalit.

Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch left the court in no doubt as to the gravity of the decision of the three-person bench. "The moral and legal difficulty is laid out before us; we are sitting among our own people. There is no need to explain the painful history and the very difficult dilemmas we face."

Gilad Shalit's father, Noam Shalit, said, "We sympathize with the pain of the families of the terror victims, but ask that the court not make any change, however small, to the deal made by the government," Schalit's parents, Noam and Aviva told the court. (Excerpts of an article by Isranet, October 17, 2011)

- Pray that the families of those who have lost loved ones because of terror attacks will be comforted. In the end, it is God who brings justice to all things. Pray that these families rest in the assurance that their heart cries are heard in heaven.

- "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret - it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the LORD, they shall inherit the earth." (Ps. 37:7-9) [From: Bridges for Peace]

4. MASHAAL TO PRISONERS: YOU WILL RETURN TO PALESTINE

As hundreds of thousands gathered Tuesday [October 18] in Gaza and the West Bank city of Ramallah to celebrate the homecoming of Palestinian prisoners, Hamas Politburo Chief Khaled Mashaal praised his group's "accomplishment" in keeping Gilad Shalit's whereabouts a secret for the past five years.

At the Cairo airport's reception hall, Mashaal addressed the Palestinian inmates exiled to Egypt, telling them that "hiding Shalit for the past five years in Gaza is a huge accomplishment." He rejected any Israeli claims that Hamas retreated and became more flexible with its demands. Mashaal said that it was Netanyahu's government which finally compromised.

He added that the swap should be considered a national achievement for all of the Palestinian factions; saying that "the Palestinian security minds beat the Israeli security minds, which are supported by advanced technology."

Earlier Tuesday, Gaza City's residents celebrated the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, set free as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange. Over 250,000 Palestinians gathered in the city's main square, where a formal reception was being held in the honor of the 296 prisoners who were allowed to return to the Strip. (Excerpts of an article by Elior Levy, Ynetnews, October 18, 2011)

- Pray that God will help Israel, both naturally and supernaturally, to keep track of these prisoners and thwart all their plans to reenter Israel and create more terror for this nation.

- "I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. I have wounded them, so that they could not rise; they have fallen under my feet. For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me." (Psalm 18:37-39)

5.ABBAS USES MORE FOREIGN AID TO PAY FREED TERRORISTS

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has bested Hamas' generosity and is honoring freed terrorists with a $5,000 grant, partially funded by the United States and the European Union. Meanwhile, Hamas urges more kidnappings.

A PA law states that salaries "will be implemented... on the basis of available sources of funding," reported the Arab daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida last April. Abbas warned earlier this month that Washington's decision to suspend financial aid to the PA damages the "peace process." Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) noted at the time that "it is the contributions by the United States and other foreign donors to the PA general budget that facilitates the payment of monthly salaries to the terrorist prisoners."

Abbas has frequently stated that the PA cannot pay monthly salaries without foreign aid. The grants to terrorists also contradict Abbas' commitments not to encourage terror.

Meanwhile, Hamas continues to urge more kidnappings of Israeli soldiers as bargaining chips to force the freeing of approximately 5,000 Arab security prisoners and terrorists still in Israeli prisons.

- Father, it grieves us to learn that our taxpayer money is going to fund the terrorists that are bent on killing Israeli citizens. Forgive us, Lord, and please show our leaders Your wisdom in foreign relations. May we always be a blessing to Israel, and never a curse. Amen.

- "There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. " (Proverbs 21:30)

6. OBAMA ANNOUNCES COMPLETE WITHDRAWAL OF U.S. FORCES FROM IRAQ BY END OF YEAR

Obama announced Friday that all U.S. forces will be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of 2011, saying the troops "will definitely be home for the holidays."

The announcement, in the White House briefing room, came after the president completed a secure video conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The discussion apparently finalized negotiations that have dragged on for months over what, if any, military presence the U.S. would maintain in Iraq beyond a Dec. 31 withdrawal deadline set in 2008. The president said the two are now in "full agreement" over how to move forward, and that no U.S. troops will remain.

Capitol Hill sources indicated Friday that, while the troops will come home, the standard presence of Marines will be kept to guard the U.S. Embassy there.

- Pray for the safety of all of these troops who will be in the process of this rapid drawdown. May each one be honored for the service he or she has rendered during their time in Iraq.

- "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." (Psalm 91:11)

7. LIBYA PRIME MINISTER PLANS TO STEP DOWN IN WAKE OF GADHAFI'S DEATH

Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril said he expected to step down on Saturday, a move he had planned to make once his government took full control of the country. Ousted dictator Muammar Gadhafi was killed on Thursday when government forces overran his last stronghold Sirte. The government was expected to formally declare the country "liberated" on Sunday.

Obama congratulated Libya on their declaration of liberation. "After four decades of brutal dictatorship and eight months of deadly conflict, the Libyan people can now celebrate their freedom and the beginning of a new era of promise," Obama said in a statement. "We look forward to working with the NTC and an empowered transitional government as they prepare for the country's first free and fair elections," Obama said.

Meanwhile, days after the killing of Muammar al - Qaddafi, the leader of Libya's transitional government, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, says Sharia law will be the 'basic source' of legislation and will replace all laws that contradict the teachings of Islam. Abdul-Jalil set out a vision for the post-Qaddafi future with an Islamist tint, saying that Islamic Sharia law would be the "basic source" of legislation in the country and that existing laws that contradict the teachings of the cult of Islam would be nullified. (Fox News) Read more.

- Offer prayer in the wake of the revolution that has come to the nation of Libya. Pray that the current peace in the streets will remain, and pray for unusual wisdom for its new leaders as they seek to establish a new form of govenment for their people. If, as stated above, Sharia law will be the basic source of legislation in Libya, cry out for these precious people, that they might instead find Christ as their Savior and Lord, and establish their nation upon the teachings of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Amen.

- "Can a land be born in a day?" (Isaiah 66:8)

8. SAUDI ARABIA'S CROWN PRINCE HAS DIED

The heir to the Saudi throne, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud, died abroad Saturday after an illness, state TV said. The death of the 85-year-old prince opens questions about the succession in the critical, oil-rich U.S. ally. Sultan . . was the kingdom's deputy prime minister and the minister of defense and aviation. The most likely candidate to replace Sultan as Abdullah's successor is Prince Nayef, the powerful interior minister in charge of internal security forces. After Sultan fell ill, the king gave Nayef -- also his half-brother -- an implicit nod in 2009 by naming him second deputy prime minister, traditionally the post of the second in line to the throne.

Saudi Arabia has been ruled since 1953 by the sons of its founder, King Abdul-Aziz, who had over 40 sons by multiple wives.

Sultan was the kingdom's defense minister in 1990 when U.S. forces deployed in Saudi Arabia to defend it against Iraqi forces that had overrun Kuwait. His son, Prince Khaled, served as the top Arab commander in operation Desert Storm, in which U.S., Saudi and other Arab forces drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait. Sultan is survived by 32 children from multiple wives. They include Bandar, the former ambassador to the United States who now heads the National Security Council, and Khaled, Sultan's assistant in the Defense Ministry. (Fox News) Read more.

- Pray for the people of Saudi Arabia, that they might be visited by the Holy One of Israel, our Messiah, and come to know His peace, and His ways. Pray.

- "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." (Isaiah 9:2)

9. U.S. INTELLIGENCE ON ALERT: WATCHING CHINA

The Washington Times is reporting that US intelligence agencies are on alert for unexpected Chinese military activities this weekend. Citing China's use of military tests to send political signals, the report comes as a US official is visiting Beijing and in the wake of the US-Taiwan arms deal.

While there is no hint about the possible nature of such activities, they could be timed to coincide with the visit of White House National Security Adviser Thomas Donilon to Beijing. According to the Washington Times, they could be part of the Chinese response to the US$5.8 billion arms package for Taiwan that was announced by the US last month.

The Washington Times said that the administration of US President Barack Obama was "braced for a tough Chinese reaction." "The US intelligence community so far is unable to assess authoritatively just what China will do," it said. According to the newspaper, the US military is "ready for any provocation."

- Pray over all of our intelligence services as they look east, as well as west. The specialists at NSA, FBI, CIA, NCIS, and all other agencies cannot be found sleeping when times are this tense. Pray that any movements made by mainland China are interpreted correctly, and that our responses will be those of wisdom. Pray!

- "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity." (Proverbs 21:23)

10. U.N. CONTROL OF INTERNET?

The commander of the U.S. Cyber Command said Thursday that he does not favor giving the United Nations the power to regulate the Internet. Some regulations are needed to protect critical networks that control electrical power, banking, transportation and other key elements of society, Army Gen. Keith Alexander, who is also director of the National Security Agency, said after a speech to a security conference.

Last month, Russia, China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan submitted a resolution to the U.N. General Assembly calling for giving individual states the right to control the Internet. The resolution, submitted Sept. 14, calls for "an international code of conduct for information security." It requests "international deliberations within the United Nations framework on such an international code, with the aim of achieving the earliest possible consensus on international norms and rules guiding the behavior of states in the information space." But asked whether the U.N. should have a regulation role, Gen. Alexander said: "No. I'm not for regulating, per se. I'm concerned about it, and this is a tough question. I would say, generally speaking, I'm not into that portion of regulating as you would espouse."

Gen. Alexander said that, rather than seeking U.N. regulation, individual countries "first need to step up and say, 'Look, how do we do this without regulating it?' "I do think that there may be some things for critical infrastructure and government networks that we're going to have to direct out to the government," Gen. Alexander said. "These are things that you must do to secure your networks for government survivability." Additionally, security cooperation between nations can be improved, he said. (Washington Times) Read more.

- We agree with the general's assessment. Pray that no controls are placed over the internet at either the national or the global level.

- [Regarding any discussion of controlling the net] "'This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt'" (Job 38:10)

11. VATICAN CALLS FOR "CENTRAL WORLD BANK" TO BE SET UP

The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a "global public authority" and a "central world bank" to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises.

A major document from the Vatican's Justice and Peace department should be music to the ears of the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn. The 18-page document, "Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority," was at times very specific, calling, for example, for taxation measures on financial transactions.

"The economic and financial crisis which the world is going through calls everyone, individuals and peoples, to examine in depth the principles and the cultural and moral values at the basis of social coexistence," it said. It condemned what it called "the idolatry of the market" as well as a "neo-liberal thinking" that it said looked exclusively at technical solutions to economic problems. "In fact, the crisis has revealed behaviors like selfishness, collective greed and hoarding of goods on a great scale," it said, adding that world economics needed an "ethic of solidarity" among rich and poor nations.

"If no solutions are found to the various forms of injustice, the negative effects that will follow on the social, political and economic level will be destined to create a climate of growing hostility and even violence, and ultimately undermine the very foundations of democratic institutions, even the ones considered most solid," it said. - Father, You alone know what time it is on the Prophetic Clock. We take authority in the Name of Jesus over this proposal and bind it to Your time, Your perfect will. We ask that if this proposal is not part of your prophetic realm, then destroy it and remove it from consideration. We loose Your Holy Spirit across the nations to protect Your people, and ask in humility for Your Mercy and forgiveness for our sins.

- " . . . Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is kept secret until the time of the end. Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means." [Daniel 12:9-10 New Living Testament]

This Week, Worship Our Lord As . . .

HOLY (Kadosh)

For this is what the high and lofty One says- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite." (Isaiah 57:15)

Holy is Your Name; Holiness befits You. Thank You that it is not on my merit that I can approach You, but it is because of the shed Blood of Yeshua, Jesus, that I can approach Your throne of grace, and have the privilege to call You Holy -- Kadosh.

"All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name." (Psalm 66:4)
