A Call to Repentance: WEEK NINE

March 9, 2008

"I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:32)

INTRODUCTION

This week, we continue to press in during WEEK NINE of the 40 Weeks of Prayer and Fasting, to offer prayers of repentance for the sin in the church, the sin in the nation, and the blessing of Israel.

We now address these areas:

1. SIN IN THE CHURCH: RACISM AND THE SPIRIT OF DEATH
2. SIN IN THE NATION: RACISM AND VIOLENCE
3. THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL: DEALING WITH TRAITORS

SIN IN THE CHURCH: RACISM

REPENTANCE FOR SIN IN THE CHURCH:

RACISM AND THE SPIRIT OF DEATH

(Ezekiel 8:3-5)

You cannot pick up a news magazine without finding an article on racism. The need for reconciliation and healing between races surfaces in nearly every form of media. It cries for attention and healing. Racism is a complex and sensitive issue. Yet, the healing of our cities will not occur until the church is delivered of cultural pride and insolence and has, itself, become a source of healing. Therefore, regardless of your ethnic background, we entreat you to stay soft and open toward God. It is likely that old wounds shall resurface, and yesterday's fears and opinions rekindled. However, as the Lord is granting us grace, let us walk forward together toward Christ's healing.

Today's Cities And Yesterday's Sins

Although slavery was legally abolished in the eighteen- hundreds, racism continued. Its wound remains today in the soul of many blacks, propelling a growing percentage of young black men toward violence. These men neither understand their actions nor can they find a way out from the shroud of death which broods over their neighborhoods. The fact is, much of the violence in our cities today is the bitter fruit of a tree the white race cultivated in the soil of racism and slavery. In America today one in four black males over twenty-one is in some form of incarceration. And the highest cause of death among black men under twenty-five is homicide. It is only by the grace of God, Who became the strength of the black man early in his struggle, that the remaining majority found creative and productive ways to apply their lives.

The indignation in the soul of the black man can be traced to the unresolved conflict between their wounds and the ancestral sins of the whites who caused them. After studying what was done to the blacks, it is amazing that anyone should be puzzled by the deterioration of society in the black community. They were humiliated, separated from their homeland and families, treated as property, often subjected to great cruelty and violence-and still we ponder:

Racism, And The Judgments Of God

It was as we wept before God, crying out to Him for the soul of our cities, that the Lord began to reveal to us the consequences of racism. He said that it was not just a regional principality; its influence was global. It is a world ruler. Racism releases the curse of death indiscriminately from one race upon another. The Lord said that it is the spirit of death which is destroying our cities, and it has for its entry point the stronghold of racism and cultural contempt in the people.

"Racism releases the spirit of death from one culture onto another. In the face of this satanic world ruler, God is opening the floodgates of His River of Life; He shall bring healing to the nations. Indeed, even now, in the House of the Lord the phrase 'white church, black church' is being banished forever."

[In weeks to come, we will offer repentance first for the sins of the "white church," and then for the sins of the "black church." In the Kingdom of God, there is no white or black church -- only His Church. Praise God!]

SIN IN THE NATION: RACISM AND VIOLENCE

REPENTANCE FOR THE SINS OF THE NATION:

RACISM AND VIOLENCE

A. The Ku Klux Klan Today

KKK: the Nazi salute and Holocaust denial. Although often still discussed in contemporary American politics as representing the quintessential "fringe" end of the far-right spectrum, today the group only exists in the form of a number of very isolated, scattered "supporters" that probably do not number more than a few thousand. In a 2002 report on "Extremism in America", the Anti-Defamation League wrote "Today, there is no such thing as the Ku Klux Klan. Fragmentation, decentralization and decline have continued unabated." However, they also noted that the "need for justification runs deep in the disaffected and is unlikely to disappear, regardless of how low the Klan's fortunes eventually sink."

Some of the larger KKK organizations currently in operation include:

Church of the American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan

Imperial Klans of America

Knights of the White Kamelia

There is a vast number of smaller organizations.

As of 2005, there were an estimated 3,000 Klan members, divided among 158 chapters of a variety of splinter organizations, about two-thirds of which were in former Confederate states. The other third are primarily in the Midwest region.

The ACLU has provided legal support to various factions of the KKK in defense of their First Amendment rights to hold public rallies, parades, and marches, and their right to field political candidates.

B. Violence erupts at KKK rally in Midland, Texas

Saturday, June 17, 2006

[Editor's note: Although this news report is now almost two years old, it is a classic example of how racism is still manifested in our own cities. We offer this report to you for your prayerful consideration.]

Violence erupted Saturday at a Ku Klux Klan rally against illegal immigration as an angry mob protested the San Angelo based group's presence in Midland. "This rally was the largest of this type we've had," Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said. "The one 15 years ago was nothing compared to this," he said of the 1991 Klan visit.Seven people were arrested during the two-hour demonstration outside Midland County Courthouse as rioting and altercations ensued . . . The crowd of predominately white and Hispanic protesters lined the streets, yelling at Klansmen in the loud and emotionally-charged protest staffed by nearly 150 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies. Painter said the approximate cost to taxpayers for manpower was $31,000.

While the Klan delivered speeches opposing illegal immigration, it was a message that went largely unheard as noisy rioters tried to drown them out. Protesters cheered loudly when the Klan picked up their belongings and left the courthouse lawn. They were then ushered out of town with a police escort, Painter said.

(By Shanna Sissom; City Editor; Midland Reporter- Telegram; 06/18/2006)

· Father, we see the headlines in the local news, and we understand that the Klan, and other related hate- groups, have not disappeared from America. We repent that we have allowed this evil wound to fester in our land, and we ask You for wisdom for those in authority as they seek to "reign in" these groups, for our own protection. We ask You to forgive those who are involved in these hate groups, and we cry out for their salvation, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL: DEALING WITH TRAITORS
THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL:

DEALING WITH TRAITORS WITHIN

There is in Israel certain citizens who want to see the Jewish state destroyed. In any other nation they would be called traitors and dealt with as such. But Israel is not like the other nations and permits this 5th column to continue their wicked schemes openly. Although we include in this some Israeli Jews of the extreme left- wing, this week it was Israeli Arabs who see their identity as tied in with the Palestinians - especially those of the Hamas/Islamic fundamentalist persuasion - causing much physical and emotional harm to this nation of Israel of which they are citizens. Although the percentage of Israeli Arabs who want to see this nation destroyed is most likely very small, still their aggressive threats towards both Israelis and their fellow Arabs who want to live in peace under I! srael - is a major issue that this nation will have to deal with very soon.

- Lord expose those Israeli Arab citizens who are trying to destroy this nation - especially the ring leaders.

- Father, watch over Your word to them in Jeremiah 12:14-17: "Thus says LORD against all My evil neighbors, that touch the inheritance which I have caused My people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them. And it shall come to pass, after I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name, LORD lives; as they taught My people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of My people. But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, says LORD."

- O God, save many of Israel's Arab citizens so that they can call on Your name and be built up in the midst of this nation.

- Help them to be willing to live under Israeli sovereignty.

- Make Israeli Arab citizens recognize that the freedom they have in Israel cannot be found anywhere else in the Middle East and that that freedom is not a license to destroy this nation.

- Help Israel's security forces know those who need to be stopped from those who do not.

- Deliver Israel from the humanistic spirit that causes us to allow this cancer to not only exist in our midst - but to spread.

- Raise up Israeli Arabs who will publicly resist these traitors.

- Lord, with Arab Knesset Members who are always against anything Israel does to defend herself. Remove them from office.

- Help Israel's government become one that follows Your guidelines for a godly government - one that is a terror to the terrorists and a protector of the innocent (Romans 13:3-4).

A Closing Thought . . .

The Holy Spirit Is at Hand to Help You

By A. W. Tozer

But why dost thou judge thy brother?. . . for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. ( Romans 14: 10)

God in love and wisdom has given us in His Holy Spirit every gift and power and help that we need to serve Him. We do not have to look around for some other way!

The most solemn aspect of this is our individual responsibility. The Bible teaches that a day is coming when we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone faces a review of the things done in the body, whether good or bad.

In that day we will be fully exposed and the things that we have done in our own strength and for our own glory will be quickly blown away, like worthless straw and stubble, forever separated from the kind of deeds and ministries which were wrought by the Spirit and which are described as eternal treasures in the sight of God, gold and silver and precious stones that the fire cannot harm.

In that day, all that is related to the work of the flesh will perish and pass away, and only that which has been wrought by the Spirit of God will remain and stand.

Do you dare to accept the fact that the sovereign God has designed to do all of His work through spiritually gifted men and women? Therefore, He does all of His work on earth through humble and faithful believers who are given spiritual gifts and abilities beyond their own capacities.

It was the promise of Christ that "you shall receive power" through the ministry of the Holy Spirit - and along with power the bestowment of sweet graces and pleasant fruits of godliness when He is allowed to gain control of our persons!

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world." (I John 4:4)

Today's Daily Brief
1. Eight Killed In Jerusalem Terror Attack - Ynet News

A Palestinian terrorist infiltrated the Mercaz Harav rabbinical seminary in the Kiryat Moshe quarter of Jerusalem on Thursday evening and opened fire on a crowded study hall, killing eight people and wounding six others. Witnesses said the gunman entered a dining hall where about 80 people were gathered and opened fire. The 'Galilee Freedom Brigades' - an Israeli-Arab group -- has claimed responsibility for the attack. The organization has claimed responsibility for several terror attacks in Israel in the past.

The seminary is the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in the Kiryat Moshe quarter of Jerusalem, a well-known center of Jewish studies identified with the leadership of the settlement movement. It is home to several hundred students, most aged 18-30.

· Lord, we pray for your Holy Spirit to comfort the families and friends of those killed and wounded. Please give strength, courage and peace to the seminary students and faculty.

· "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army may enscamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident." ( Ps.46:1, 27:1,3)

2. Hamas Backtracks on Claiming Responsibility for Terror Attack - AP

Shortly after Hamas Radio went on the air with the claim of responsibility, sources told FOX News that a few officials within the militant organization were backing away from the boast. Abu Obeida, a spokesman for Hamas' military wing, confirmed the group was not taking responsibility for the attack - at least yet. "There may be a later announcement. But we don't claim this honor yet," he said.

· Honor?? How can you label such a vicious attack an "honor?" Pray for these demon possessed people; only the power of the Cross can set them free to walk in their right minds.

· "When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid." (Mark 5:15)

3. U.S. Making No Secret Of Its Strategic Buildup In The Pacific - World Tribune

The United States is building up forces on Guam with an eye toward a future conflict with China, Pacific forces commander Admiral Timothy Keating said recently. Keating told a group of defense reporters recently that the issue of the strategic buildup on Guam, which has been underway for the past three years, was not raised by Chinese military officials during his recent visit to China.

Asked if the Chinese are monitoring the buildup, Keating said: "We've got a number of B-2s in Guam now. I'm hoping they notice. We're doing our best to make sure they do. We want them to understand that we're going to continue to course around the Pacific in ways apparent and maybe not quite so apparent, but we're going to utilize all the arrows in our quiver, if you will; and B-2s in Guam and continuous bomber presence in Guam and elsewhere. We've been told to do it by Defense Policy Guidance, and we're most assuredly doing it."

· Thank you Lord, for wisdom that guides our defense force to prepare for confict. We ask for war to be avoided if at all possible. We draw near to You, Lord putting all our trust in You. We ask that You receive glory and honor through all our victories.

· "Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works." (Ps.73:23,24,28)

4. Al Qaeda May Be Working To Plan Attack, Official Says - NY Sun

The military commander in charge of domestic security says Al Qaeda may be working more urgently to plan an attack on America to maintain its credibility. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, who is chief of the U.S. Northern Command, told reporters that while he has not seen any direct threats tied to the American presidential elections, it would be imprudent to think that such threats are not there. He believes that American authorities have thwarted attacks on a number of occasions, and that terrorist cells may be trying harder than ever to plot high-impact events.

· Thank you Lord, for the protection You have given us. We praise Your name for the attacks that have been thwarted. We ask for Your mercy. Save us from any attacks planned by our enemies.

· "Show your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings . . . " ( Ps. 17:7,8)

5. World Markets Tumble Amid US Worries - Associated Press

Asian and European markets fell Friday after another overnight drop on Wall Street that was spurred by news about rising foreclosures on U.S. mortgages, intensifying concerns about the world's largest economy. Turmoil has engulfed global equities since last summer as rising default rates among U.S. mortgage holders with poor credit histories - the so-called subprime problem - raised concerns of a spillover effect that could lead to recession in the world's largest economy.

· Lord, we ask You to forgive those who have build their fortunes upon the sinking sands of greed. As the world markets continue to move in realignments, we ask that Your hand of correction would visit those who have acted selfishly for their own gain. May they find the fear of the Lord in this season of financial shaking . . . for this is the fear that brings godly wisdom, and repentance unto salvation.

· "Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright . . . " ( Prov.2:5-7)

6. Home Schooling Unlawful, Says California Court - One News Now

A three-judge panel of the California Court of Appeal led by California Justice H. Walter Croskey, has determined parents in that state have no legal right to home school. A Christian attorney in Sacramento, Brad Dacus, president of the Sacramento-based Pacific Justice Institute, says that unless the ruling is reversed, literally thousands of students in the Golden State will be subject to criminal sanctions.

Calling the scope of the decision "breathtaking," Dacus said, "It not only attacks traditional home schooling, but also calls into question home schooling through charter schools and teaching children at home via independent study through public and private schools. This ruling goes against prior court decisions. Case law in federal court and by the U.S. Supreme Court [has] already recognized that parents have a fundamental right over the education of their children," he points out. "And in fact, the lower-court judge in this decision -- actually ruled that these parents had a constitutional right to home school their children, but it was reversed by this three-judge panel in this appellate court."

· Father, we ask for a reversal of this appellate court decision. Bring victory to the parents that have the constitutional right to educate their children. We thank you that this right and command comes from You.

· "And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." ( Deut. 11:19)

7. War Averted in South America? - AP

Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela leaders shake hands, signal progress in talks over dispute.

· Offer praise for this answer to prayer, one week after the flare-ups erupted in South America. Remain vigilant to be "on watch" for prayer needs in that part of the world.

· "Go, post a watchman. Let him declare what he seeth." (Is. 21:6)

Tragedy in Israel - March 7, 2008

TRAGEDY IN ISRAEL

Dear Friends,

By now we are all aware of the terrible massacre that took place yesterday in a seminary (yeshiva) in Jerusalem, when a Palestinian terrorist suddenly entered the compound and began shooting.

Today, ten are dead; and many others are injured; and all of Israel is in shock over news of this horrific attack. Meanwhile, on the Arab street, the gunman is being cited as a "hero" and as an "Arab freedom fighter." Unbelievable!

Please join us today as we weep with those who weep; and as we mourn with those who mourn in this time of national tragedy for Israel. And let us all continue to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem."

"Comfort ye, comfort ye, My people." (Isaiah 40:1)

REPORT FROM JERUSALEM

PALESTINIAN GUNMEN KILL 10 IN JERUSALEM JEWISH RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

MORE THAN 20 WOUNDED

JERUSALEM (CBS News Reuters 3:13 pm EST -- Thursday, March 6, 2008) - Two Palestinian gunmen opened fire in a Jewish religious school in Jerusalem on Thursday, killing at least ten people and wounding more than twenty. As time passes, the toll is expected to rise. The two gunmen were killed in the assault and a third escaped at the Merkaz Harav seminary. The Mercaz Harav yeshiva has around 500 students including many foreigners. Some young American Jewish men study there.

Some witnesses reported that only one terrorist had entered the building and that he managed to fire 500- 600 bullets over the course of 4-10 minutes before he was killed. Some 50 ambulances raced to the area and police held back worried parents searching for children who had been attending a study session marking the start of Adar, the most festive month of the Jewish calendar. Witnesses said the two gunmen entered the crowded compound of the seminary and fired automatic weapons at students.

PALESTINIANS REJOICE IN THE STREET

PALESTINIANS REJOICE IN THE STREETS

In the Gaza Strip, gunmen fired in the air to celebrate the attack, three days after Israel ended a military offensive in the Hamas-run territory that killed more than 120 Palestinians, about half of whom were identified as civilians. In Jebaliya, about 7,000 Gazans of different factions marched in the streets in celebration. In Rafah on the Egyptian border, residents distributed sweets to moving cars, and militants fired mortars in celebration.

Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas official, said the group "blesses the heroic operation in Jerusalem, which was a natural reaction to the Zionist massacre". A loudspeaker in Gaza City blared the message: "This is God's vengeance."

The attack in Jerusalem came a day after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice persuaded moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to return to peace talks with Israel and on the same day Egyptian officials were trying to mediate a truce between Gaza militants and Israel.

ISRAELI AMBASSADOR'S REACTION

Israeli Ambassador Sallai Meridor Reacts to Terror Attack in Jerusalem

EMBASSY OF ISRAEL

Washington, D.C.

March 6, 2008

Today's terrorist attack on a religious seminary in Jerusalem, in which eight young students were murdered in cold blood by a Palestinian terrorist, is a terrible reminder of the indiscriminate and brutal terrorism Israel faces every day.

The gunman, armed with an automatic assault rifle, heavy ammunition and a bulletproof vest, infiltrated the crowded school library and opened fire at students during religious study.

The reaction in the West Bank and Gaza, including celebrations and praise for the killer, is the result of ongoing and intensive incitement to violence against innocent Israeli civilians.

While continuing to pursue every opportunity for peace, Israel will defend its citizens and take the necessary security measures to combat terror. Be it rocket fire from Gaza or suicide attackers in Jerusalem, Israel expects the international community to take a resolute and determined stand against terror in all its forms.

When these delegates were presented with evidence of recent religious persecution - including the case of Kpa Kloh, who died Feb. 10, 2008, after extreme torture for his religious beliefs - these officials repeated, "There is religious freedom in Vietnam." "If anyone is punished, it is for his crime, not for religious activity."

Increased religious persecution and the killings of Lao and Hmong Christians in Laos was also highlighted.

Religious belief under the guiding hand of the state can be a tool for promoting social harmony, the number four man in the Chinese Politburo said on Monday at the opening session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Beijing. The chairman of the national committee of the CPPCC, Jia Qinglin's (pictured) comments come amidst rising tensions and expectations from China's rapidly growing Christian population. The state "should fully follow the policy on freedom of religious belief, implement the regulations on religious affairs, and conduct thorough research on important and difficult issues related to religion," Jia said on March 3.

Good News in Exit Polls

Exit Polls Show Texas and Ohio Republicans Strongly Pro-Life on Abortion

Texas and Ohio Republicans were no exceptions when it comes to overwhelmingly supporting a pro-life position on abortion. Strong majorities in both states said they prefer making abortion illegal in either all or most cases and they joined the large majority of states with exit polling available showing pro-life Republican majorities. Including Texas and Ohio, the number of states with a pro-life Republican majority jumps to 19 out of 24 that have voted thus far and had exit polling data. The Texas exit poll included 1,545 Republicans and 69 percent said abortion should be illegal while just 29 percent said abortion should remain illegal. Looking more closely at the numbers, some 25 percent of Texas Republicans said all abortions should be illegal while another 44 percent want most abortions made illegal. The exit polling data showed 22 percent want most abortions legal while just 7 percent of Texas Republicans agree with Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in wanting to keep all abortions legal. Violence Against Our Military

Violence Against Our Military

As you know, a few weeks ago the city council in Berkeley, California, tried to force the Marine Corps to close its recruitment office in Berkeley. There was strong public outrage, and the city backed off. But anti-military sentiment continues to grow and fester on the political Left, and periodically it boils over.

This morning, a nut on a bicycle hurled a fire-bomb into the armed forces recruiting office in Times Square in downtown New York City. Fortunately, no one was hurt this time. [Unfortunately] this isn't an isolated incident. Recruiting offices around the country have been vandalized. Recruiters' cars have been defaced, and there have been bomb threats.

Isn't it fair to ask whether the hyper-rhetoric on the Left that defames U.S. soldiers -- calling them "fascists," "storm troopers" and "psychopaths" -- is in fact "inspiring" unstable people from Berkeley to New York to engage in violence? Perhaps responsible people on the Left should consider toning down their anti-military rhetoric. (Gary Bauer; End of Day; 3/5/08)

OPEC and Islam
OPEC Tool of Islamic Deception and the War Against the West

With the world watching, Islam played yet another card in its move toward world domination-OPEC ministers refused to increase oil production and instead blamed the United States for mismanaging its economy as the cause of rising oil prices. While the news media lapped up the words of the 13 member Islamic dominated council that controls 40% of the world's oil production, and has a virtual monopoly on pricing, there have been no stories about how Islam may be using oil prices to bring economic chaos upon its enemies. The OPEC oil ministers pointed the finger squarely at the United States for the record prices in a move that shifted blame from production and supply to the demand side of economics.

The OPEC statement: "In reviewing the prospects for the oil market, the Conference highlighted the economic slowdown in the USA, which, together with the deepening credit crisis in financial markets, is increasing the downside risks for world economic growth and, consequently, demand for crude oil. The Conference observed that the market is well-supplied, with current commercial oil stocks standing above their five-year average. The Conference further noted, with concern, that the current price environment does not reflect market fundamentals, as crude oil prices are being strongly influenced by the weakness in the US dollar, rising inflation and significant flow of funds into the commodities market."

OPEC is a front for the war of Islamic aggression. It has shown that the fundamentals of supply and demand are minimized by the objective to put America on its knees before Islam using oil prices. Inflation and the weakening of the dollar have been caused in a large part by the run up in oil prices. Yet OPEC says record oil prices are caused by America's high inflation and weak dollar. President Bush told Jordan's King Abdullah in a Wednesday White House meeting, "I think it is a mistake to have your biggest customers' economy slow down, or your biggest customers' economy slowing down, as a result of high energy prices."

The Federal government and the U.S. Congress have made a grave error in trusting OPEC to supply oil at reasonable prices when Islam is at war with America. And the Bush Administration appears naïve in its diplomatic concept that Islamic nations are dealing honestly and fairly with the United States. Islam is at war with America. Islam intends to destroy the country. Islam will use what ever means possible to attain its goal-including high oil prices and using the windfall to buy American debt and property. Its time the American government and Americans wake up. 2 Timothy 3:13 warns, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." The deception of Islam is upon us.

The Daily Brief - Wednesday, March 5, 2008

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world." (I John 4:4)

Today's Daily Brief

1. McCain Clinches GOP Nomination, Clinton Wins Three States - Fox News

John McCain swept all four states voting Tuesday and clinched the GOP nomination, leading Mike Huckabee to drop out of the race. With his victories, McCain reached the 1,191 delegates needed to ensure he becomes his party's nominee. Huckabee's campaign issued a statement offering its support in helping unite the GOP ahead of the November general election.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton scored commanding victories in Ohio and Rhode Island Tuesday, and squeaked out a narrow victory in Texas, breaking rival Barack Obama's 12-contest winning streak and breathing new life into her Democratic presidential campaign. Obama won the lead-off Vermont primary Tuesday. That leaves the Democrats to continue their battle.

· We thank You, Lord for bringing peace to the Republican nomination process for the next President of the United States. Please continue protecting and preparing Senator McCain and his wife, Cindy, for the rigors of the presidential race until this November's election. We also thank You for the Huckabees' run for the presidency, and ask that they will be used by You in a mighty way to help bring this nation back to You, our True Founder and Lord! And may we also pray Lord, that any of the candidates who need a personal relationship with Your Son, Jesus, will establish one now for Your glory. Amen.

· "For He is good, for His mercy endures forever." (2 Chronicles 5: 13b NKJV)

2. Bush Endorses McCain for President - Associated Press

President Bush endorsed Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain on Wednesday, two bitter rivals from the 2000 presidential race joining together now in hopes of preventing Democrats from winning the White House this fall.

Bush gave McCain a big welcome at the White House, greeting him at the North Portico entrance usually reserved for visiting foreign dignitaries. McCain said he looked forward to campaigning with Bush at his side and said the president could be helpful in states such as Texas. Bush pledged to do whatever he could - even getting out of the way when that would help. Republicans won't officially nominate McCain until early September at the GOP's national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

· Oh Lord, only You know our present, past and future. We humbly thank You for allowing America to have a president who has honored You these past seven years. We want to ask You for a new president who will do the same. May both President Bush and Senator McCain, their wives, family and friends have a personal relationship with You; may they seek to help and protect Your nation, Israel, and encourage America to return to You as their only True Hope and Lord. In Your Name We Pray. Amen.

· "Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 'that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.'" (Deuteronomy 6: 1-2 NKJV)

3. Chavez Says Venezuela Doesn't Seek War - Associated Press

President Hugo Chavez charged Wednesday that Colombia and its allies in Washington are responsible for the intensifying crisis in this region -- and said perpetual conflict with the United States is inevitable. "We are the path to peace," Chavez said in a televised speech, his first since Colombia alleged that documents found in a leftist rebel's computer show the Venezuelan leader has been supporting Colombian guerrillas for years.

Chavez, who ordered 10 battalions of troops to reinforce Venezuela's border with Colombia, after Colombian troops entered Ecuador on Saturday, to attack a rebel hideout, spoke as diplomats struggled to defuse the crisis. The United States was the only nation in the Organization of American States (OAS) to offer Colombia unqualified support. Many other countries worried openly about the attack inside Ecuador, despite Colombia's complaints that Venezuela and Ecuador have both provided refuge to leftist Colombian guerrillas.

· Powerful Lord, You said that You hate lying tongues. May You have mercy on Venezuela's citizens and Mr. Chavez's soul as it appears that time is beginning to run out for him as the President of Venezuela. May he turn to You for salvation before it is too late, as even the world does not tolerate liars for long. We also pray that Colombia and all of South America be saved unto You! Amen.

· "These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6: 16-19 NKJV)

4. Ahmadinejad: We Won't Discuss Our Nuclear Program With Anyone - Ynet News, CNN and ABC News

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that Iran would not hold negotiations with regard to its nuclear program with anyone, according to a report by the IRNA news agency. Meanwhile, China and Russia scuttled a Western attempt to introduce a resolution on Iran's nuclear defiance at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency, diplomats said. And, Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin has also counseled Iran to study the incentives the world's key powers are offering -- including improved relations with the United States -- and suspend uranium enrichment as the U.N. Security Council is demanding.

· What are they hiding? Dear Lord, we ask You to reveal the hidden things that these three nations are trying to conceal to profit themselves at other's expense including Israel. Thank You in advance for what You will do. In Your Name we pray. Amen.

· Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God." (1 Corinthians 4: 5 NKJV)

5. Ex-Sailor Convicted in Terror Case - Associated Press

Jurors convicted Wednesday former Navy sailor, Hassan Abu-Jihaad, 32, of Phoenix of providing material support to terrorists and disclosing classified national defense information on the second day of deliberations in the four-year investigation that spanned two continents. The American-born Muslim convert formerly known as Paul R. Hall faces up to 25 years in federal prison when he is sentenced May 23.

Abu-Jihaad, who was a signalman aboard the USS Benfold, was accused of passing along details that included the makeup of his Navy battle group, its planned movements and a drawing of the group's formation when it was to pass through the dangerous Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf on April 29, 2001. The leak came amid increased wariness on the part of U.S. Navy commanders whose ships headed to the Persian Gulf in the months after a terrorist ambush in 2000 killed 17 sailors aboard the USS Cole. "Fortunately there wasn't an attack based on the information Abu-Jihaad passed," said FBI Agent in Charge Kimberly K. Mertz.

· Gracious Lord, we want to Thank You again for keeping America safe and in the protection of Your loving and mighty hands. May this confused soul and the others involved with this trial come to know You as their True Savior and renounce all other false gods. In Your Name we pray. Amen.

· As the Spirit of God said to Israel, so may they hear, too: "The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you." (2 Chronicles 15: 2b NKJV)
