Focus on Israel

1. Tel Aviv Stock Exchange reacts positively to election results - Israel Hayom

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened up 0.5% on Wednesday, just hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emerged as the apparent victor in the close election.

The gains were interpreted as a show of confidence by investors, who have benefited from Netanyahu's stewardship of the strong economy over the past decade.

Netanyahu secured a clear path to re-election on Wednesday, with religious-rightist parties set to hand him a parliamentary majority despite a close contest against his main centrist challenger, a vote tally showed.

2. Pence to Netanyahu: I appreciate your leadership - Israel National News

US Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday evening called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to congratulate him on his election victory.

The US Vice President told the Prime Minister that he appreciates his leadership and joint work with US President Trump to advance the strong alliance between the US and Israel.

Netanyahu thanked Pence for his regards and for his friendship for the State of Israel over the years.

Pence tweeted about his conversation with Netanyahu, writing, "Spoke to Prime Minister Netanyahu and offered my congratulations on his historic victory!"

3. BDS Takes Big Hit After Airbnb's Decision - Jerusalem Online

Airbnb is a world famous online marketplace for renting your home out to travelers. Back in November 2018, the company decided to remove rental listings from homes in Israeli settlements located in the West Bank. They released a statement backing their decision by saying the rentals were located "at the heart of the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians"

At the time Israel's Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, who heads the government's response to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement blasted the decision, by calling its founders racist and Anti-Semitic. Needless to say, the BDS movement was ecstatic.

They are not so happy anymore as Airbnb has reversed their decision by relisting the nearly 200 Israeli homes that are located in the West Bank.

4. Nasrallah says US-Israel ties 'unprecedented' after Netanyahu election win - Times of Israel

The head of Lebanon's Hezbollah terror group on Wednesday weighed in on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's victory in Israeli elections, saying it would likely herald even closer ties between Israel and the United States.

In a speech honoring the Iranian-backed organization's wounded fighters, Hassan Nasrallah also ripped the US designation of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps military organization as a terror group, a move that came on the eve of the Israeli elections.

"Netanyahu will likely form a new right-wing Zionist government and we are before a new stage of unprecedented cooperation between America and Israel represented in Netanyahu and [US President Donald] Trump," Nasrallah was quoted saying by Lebanese news site Naharnet.

5. Exposed: Anti-Israel hackers can kill Israeli patients with medical cyber-attacks - World Israel News

Hackers can access a patient's 3-D medical scans to add or remove images of malignant tumors, putting patients at risk of misdiagnoses, according to cybersecurity researchers at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU).

The hackers said that they have conducted a survey which shows that altered scans successfully deceived both radiologists and the artificial intelligence algorithms which are used to assist in reaching a diagnosis. A 3-D CT (computerized tomography) scan combines a series of X-Ray images taken from different angles around the body and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues, the university explains in a statement on the research.

CT scan images provide more detailed information than standard X-Rays and are used to diagnose cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases, and more. An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan is similar but uses powerful magnetic fields to diagnose bone, joint, ligament, and cartilage conditions, it adds.

The Daily Brief

1. 'Spying did occur' on Trump campaign during Obama's watch: AG Barr - Washington Times

Attorney General William Barr said Wednesday that the FBI under President Obama did spy on President Trump's campaign - though he said he has yet to conclude whether it was legal and correct. "I think spying did occur," he told the Senate. "The question is whether it was adequately predicated."

Mr. Barr was elaborating on his announcement a day earlier that he was reviewing the Justice Department's move to obtain a secret wiretap warrant on a Trump campaign figure, and the opening of an investigation into other associates of Mr. Trump during and after the campaign. "I am going to be reviewing both the genesis and the conduct of intelligence activities to get at the Trump campaign during 2016," he told the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Mr. Barr said his review will involve looking at the information already gathered by other probes, including an ongoing inspector general's look at the FBI's use of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant on onetime Trump adviser Carter Page and on congressional probes. There's also supposed to be a probe by Utah U.S. Attorney John Huber, though Mr. Barr didn't mention that by name. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up all these investigations and pray for justice for President Trump. Vindicate him as only You can.

- Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord. (Psalm 35:23)

2. Former Trump official: Nielsen was 'obstructionist' who wouldn't fire 'deep state' employees in DHS - Washington Examiner

Outgoing Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen triggered her own demise by refusing to fire a pair of agency officials that were slow-walking President Trump's immigration agenda, says a former administration official who worked with all three people. "I think she was an obstructionist to getting rid of the bad people," the official, who asked to speak on background in order to speak openly, said in a phone call with the Washington Examiner Tuesday. The official specially mentioned the department's General Counsel John Mitnick and Citizenship and Immigration Services Director L. Francis Cissna - both of whom have been reported to be next on Trump's chopping block.

Their departures would follow what's already been nearly a week of upheaval at DHS. In addition to getting rid of Nielsen, Trump rescinded the nomination of acting ICE Director Ronald Vitiello and terminated Secret Service Director Randolph Alles from his position. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for giving President Trump the wisdom to know who to put in charge of our border crisis. We pray for Your blessing upon Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan and pray for Your supernatural help to do his job.

- God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

3. Bait and smuggle: Mexican cartels divert border cops with migrant surges and ferry drugs where the coast is clear - Washington Examiner

Tarrant County Sheriff Bill E. Waybourn told the Washington Examiner his county has seen a big uptick in methamphetamine and heroin seizures since October, saying Mexican drug smugglers are using large groups of migrants to divert Border Patrol's attention while they run narcotics over the border in nearby areas.

"We're several hundred miles away from the border, however, the border does impact us," he said. Waybourn said he learned during a recent visit to McAllen, Texas, that cartels control the Mexico side of the border and migrants who want to illegally enter the U.S. must go through them to do so. "They overwhelm our Border Patrol resources. It gives cartels the ability to move drugs [and] other people that we probably would have never let in," said Waybourn.

Once smugglers have gotten narcotics into the country, they use I-35 to get them north to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Waybourn said. "The Mexican cartel is pushing it over in incredible amounts; we know the drugs come here, and so are the people," he said. (Read more)

- Father God, nothing is hidden from You. We pray for an end to the lawlessness on both sides of the U.S. Mexico border. Each one of these people is precious to You, so we pray for forgiveness over them and for their salvation.

- Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. (James 5:20)

4. White House to appeal court ruling on sending asylum-seekers to Mexico - The Hill

The White House said Tuesday it will appeal a federal judge's ruling from a day earlier blocking an administration policy of having some asylum-seekers remain in Mexico while their cases are processed in the U.S.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders blasted U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg's decision, arguing it "gravely undermines the President's ability to address the crisis at the border with the tools Congress has authorized and disrupts the conduct of our foreign affairs."

"The flow of illegal aliens is crashing our immigration system and overwhelming our country," she said in a statement. "But a district court has issued yet another nationwide injunction forcing open borders policies onto an unwilling American populace." (Read more)

- Lord, we ask for Your intervention in our courts throughout our nation. We pray for judges who honor You and judge with righteousness.

- To show partiality to the wicked is not good, nor to thrust aside the righteous in judgment. (Proverbs 18:5)

6. White House Plans To Target Remittance Payments - Daily Caller

The White House plan to go after remittance payments falls in line with a proposal from former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who is being considered to replace outgoing DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Kobach told Breitbart News on Tuesday that this will be an effective way for President Donald Trump to compel the Mexican government to take more enforcement action against Central Americans trafficking through their country.

Kobach told Breitbart, "The threat I propose is one that actually helps us if we follow through on it. That is the threat of ending remittances from the majority of people in the United States from Mexico who are here illegally," adding "they don't want to risk losing that massive flow of foreign capital. In most years, it's their second biggest source of foreign capital." (Read more)

- Father God, we pray the threat of taxing or ending remittances will cause Mexico, and all other Central and South American nations to get control over migrant populations.

- When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; by paying attention to the wise they get knowledge. (Proverbs 21:11)

7. GOP Sen. Roberts Promises Support for Kris Kobach at DHS - Breitbart

The senior GOP Senator in Kansas has announced he will back Kris Kobach if President Donald Trump nominates the Ivy League lawyer to run the Department of Homeland Security. "I have met Kris Kobach in the past and I have supported every one of Trump's nominees - ultimately this will be the President's decision," Roberts said a tweeted statement.

Sen. Pat Roberts' conditional endorsement is important because it defangs back-room opposition to a Kobach nomination by the establishment wing of the Kansas GOP. Roberts' statement may also mute potential opposition from the establishment GOP Senators in Washington, D.C., who do not like Kobach's long-standing support for Trump's pro-American agenda.

The muting of home state opposition to Kobach is important, partly because Roberts is retiring in 2020 and the Democrats are expected to make an aggressive and well-funded run for the Senate seat. Roberts' conditional endorsement of Kobach will help sooth the sharp divides between the state party's establishment and populist camps before the 2020 elections. (Read more)

- Father, we pray You will help President Trump know if Kris Kobach is the right leader for the Department of Homeland Security.

- A divine decision is in the lips of the king; his mouth should not err in judgment. (Proverbs 16:10)

8. Feds take down $1 billion Medicare fraud scheme in 'Operation Brace Yourself' - NBC News

Two dozen people, including doctors and owners of medical equipment companies, were charged in a more than $1 billion Medicare scam, authorities said Tuesday. Investigators uncovered the sprawling plot that targeted elderly and disabled people by setting them up with back, neck and knee braces that they didn't need, according to federal prosecutors.

Called Operation Brace Yourself, the investigation discovered that medical brace manufacturers were allegedly paying kickbacks and bribes to doctors working with fraudulent telemedicine companies in exchange for Medicare patient referrals for medically unnecessary braces.

The ill-gotten gains were then laundered through international shell companies and used to buy exotic cars, yachts and luxury real estate in the United States and overseas, prosecutors said. "The taxpayers should be outraged by this," Gary Cantrell, who oversees fraud investigations for the Health and Human Services inspector general's office, said in an interview with NBC News. "These are losses to the Medicare program that we all, as taxpayers, fund." (Read more)

- Father, we pray all people who are robbing taxpayers through entitlement program abuse will be found out, forced to pay restitution, and prosecuted.

- Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house. (Proverbs 6:31)

9. Dan Crenshaw Condemns Ilhan Omar for Describing 9/11 as 'Some People Did Something' - Epoch Times

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has once again come under fire for her remarks, this time for trivializing one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on American soil, after she described the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks simply by saying "some people did something."

Part of a speech she made last month at a Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) fundraiser, during which she said the radical Muslim group was founded after the terror attacks, surfaced on social media earlier this week. In 2007, CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in funding the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, as revealed in the case against Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. The United Arab Emirates designated CAIR a terrorist organization in 2014.

Omar immediately received backlash for her comments, with commentators and political figures, such as Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), expressing disbelief. "First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as 'some people who did something,'" Crenshaw wrote on social media on April 9. "Unbelievable." (Read more)

- Father, we pray Speaker Pelosi will strip Ilhan Omar from her seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee and have the courage to censure her in the House.

- Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." (1 Corinthians 15:33)

10. Lindsey Graham introduces bill which would ban abortions after 20 weeks - CBS News

Sen. Lindsey Graham, Republican from South Carolina, is once again introducing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks. Graham has sponsored this bill every year since 2013 only to have it defeated again and again in Congress.

This year might be different, thanks to a conservative majority in the Supreme Court and several restrictive abortion measures being passed in Republican-controlled states across the country. But the bill would still need 60 votes to bypass a filibuster and pass the Senate, an extremely unlikely outcome given that Republicans control only 54 seats in the chamber. And it would also need to pass the House, which now has a substantial Democratic majority.

The legislation has never been able to clear the hurdle of invoking cloture, a procedural vote which allows legislation to advance to the Senate floor for a full vote. "I'm not under any illusion here, getting 60 votes will be difficult any time soon, but this is a journey worth taking," Graham told reporters. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the Moral Outcry of tens of millions of Americans will reach the ears of our Senators and compel them to protect the unborn.

- And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. (2 Corinthians 5:15)

11. Conservative Leaders Press FCC to Block Chinese, Foreign Influence in 5G Spectrum Market - Breitbart

A group of conservative leaders are pressing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to block efforts by a group of satellite operators seeking to sell spectrum space critical to the operation of forthcoming 5G technology.

The C-band spectrum is not just a valuable American asset, it is a valuable strategic American asset with national security implications that transcend even its commercial application. Given recent concerns and allegations of spying by the Chinese government via telecommunications equipment, the FCC should be especially careful in its considerations.

It remains to be seen what the FCC will do on this front, but the Chinese have already gained a significant foothold into the 5G market worldwide, seriously harming the United States. "Chinese telecom giant Huawei is poised to claim close to half of the 5G market, nudging the technological center of gravity away from western telecom vendors and sounding alarms about China's ability to spy on Americans," a recent Axios report reads. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray the FCC will heed this warning to protect our wireless infrastructure from China or any other entity who would abuse the privilege.

- I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16)

Prophetic implications of Israeli elections

There are a lot of prophetic implications of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu winning reelection in Israel. Leadership is important. We know that God is sovereign in all things, but he often chooses to work through humans as his plan unfolds. Israel is the centerpiece and the timepiece of prophecy, so what goes on there is important to how prophecy plays out. The upcoming peace plan that President Donald Trump will present to Israel and the terrorists entities of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas will speak volumes about the march of prophecy. While it is not wise to always boil these complex issues down to "if-then" scenarios, because a lot can change in a heartbeat, here are some prophetic thoughts.

There are signals of where the so-called peace plan is headed. First, Trump has supported Israel's right over the strategic Golan heights-a move that is not supported by the rest of the world, especially the one-world order crowd at the United Nations. Trump also designated that Iran's elite military group, the Revolutionary Guard, are terrorists. During the election campaign, Netanyanu promised that he would extend Israeli sovereignty over the settlements in Judea and Samaria, commonly called the West Bank. Meanwhile, there are the same type of media and opposition efforts against Netanyahu as there are against Trump-corruption charges, constant barrage of leftism being used to cover the terrorist advance.
These facts could signal that Trump and Netanyahu already know where this new peace plan is headed. If Israel gets sovereignty over the settlements in Judea and Samaria, its capital in Jerusalem, and ownership of the Golan Heights, what do the enemies of Israel get in return? That's how deals work. The Trump Administration has signaled that there will be "investments" in Judea and Samaria, and the agreement would address the controversial "Palestinian Right of Return" for those displaced in the creation of Israel. This has the makings of where both sides could be dissatisfied with the outcome, even if an agreement is reached. This could mean temporary peace, then more war, or just war.
In Ezekiel 38:3-8, the Lord says, "Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: and I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army...Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them...against the mountains of Israel..." These areas mentioned in Ezekiel 38 coincide with modern Turkey, Iran, Sudan, Libya, parts of Iraq, even Saudi Arabia. In February, Russia, Iran and Turkey met to coordinate their efforts in Syria after Trump announced US withdrawal from the war-torn neighbor of Israel. Therefore, the major players of the Gog of Magog prophecy are active nearby. A peace plan lies ahead. Netanyahu, despite reelection, remains embroiled in investigations and media controversy. There will be continued chaos. The time ahead will reveal the speed of prophecy. Watch and pray.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Boycott the "Day of Silence" Tomorrow

THIS FRIDAY'S "DAY OF SILENCE" HARMLESS OR HARMFUL FOR YOUR CHILDREN?

"Students listen up. Just days ago Chicago, the 3rd largest American city, elected its first lesbian, socialist, same-sex partnered, black female mayor, Lori Lightfoot! In her acceptance speech she said, 'I think about the children . . . boys and girls seeing leaders who look like them.' And the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Pete Buttigieg, is also gay and 'married' to his homosexual partner and preparing to declare his candidacy for President of the United States! Let's give it up for LGBTQ advances today!"

Tomorrow is a big day in thousands of elementary schools, middle and high schools, colleges and universities across America. GLSEN (The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) promotes underhandedly the LGBTQ lifestyle to impressionable sons and daughters by calling for solidarity with a "Day of Silence". This diabolical initiative erodes and corrupts the innocence and morals of our children at a time when "progressives" propagandize the LGBTQ ideology in our schools.
Since God directs fathers and mothers to train their children in righteous standards, it's imperative that you find out if your particular school is one of scores signed on to this annual propaganda "promo." Parents can put their collective foot down at this insidious trickery by joining in the nationwide DOS ("Day of Silence" Walkout). This also provides an excellent opportunity to share respectfully with school officials you "choose today whom you will serve . . . as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Josh 24:15).
While you're checking, you may want to inquire if the library is allowing registered sex offenders to perform drag queen routines and readings for children, the latest "trend" in diversity training in schools today. . .

Understanding the "Day of Silence"

Friday, April 12, in schools everywhere LGBTQ proponents again roll out their clever initiative having students remain silent to dramatize bigotry and discrimination to the LGBTQ "community". They'll be taught that we never discriminate if two students "come out as gay" and are proud of their newly discovered sexual orientation. The same applies if a fellow identifies now as a female mandating full access to girls' changing rooms and bathrooms.

Teachers can freely encourage participation in "gay clubs" and warn students not to question any of the above or other parts of the LGBTQ agenda. And here is the zinger: disagreement with the above is "bullying" and it will be prohibited, punished and put away in our "enlightened" culture of tolerance.

GLESN helps schools implement policies and curricula to educate students, plus they encourage follow-up events with speakers and workshops for further instruction to enable schools to become "more LGBTQ inclusive". Teachers and administrators are encouraged to go to their website as the organization offers free streaming documentaries and study guides about "transgender and gender expansive youth". They are generous in offering posters and graphics featuring themes like "Silence is Rebelling Against the Norm. It's Resistance." along with promotional stickers, buttons, T-shirts and temporary tattoos.

Resisting the Ruse

Eliza Byard, GLESN's lesbian Executive Director says, "Support for transgender students in K-12 schools changes and saves lives and hurts no one."

Is it true that it "hurts no one" to support confused young people drifting into unbiblical lifestyles? Is it really harmless to choose alternate behaviors clearly prohibited by God yet endorsed and celebrated by the LGBTQ community?

A little while ago, the Centers for Disease Control released their most extensive report ever on homosexual youth, "The Youth Risk Behavior Survey". The results were downright scary! (Read the statistics here.)

Safeguard not Silence

LGBTQ advocacy groups like GLESN want to keep silent about these statistics, similar to Planned Parenthood with revealing "stats" on their butchery of precious babies. Their solutions are "Days of Silence," gay-friendly curricula, participation in gay pride events, "safe spaces" and gay clubs in schools to provide encouragement and support in celebrating one's gay or transgender lifestyle. Their endgame is to ultimately silence all opposition to the LGBTQ philosophy and punish those dissenting like Canada does through its "hate crimes" legislation (see "Fined $55,000 for Calling a Male a Male") which I was warned about when I spoke there at a conference.

Scripture says, "Likewise the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust towards one another, men with men doing that which is shameful, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error" (Rom.1:27). The same "red alert" is given for women who engage in this lifestyle contrary to God's design for men, women and the family.

Here's the deal: practicing homosexuality and lifestyles contrary to God's loving design for humanity is sinful and brings severe consequences to those who disobey. Our sacred duty is to safeguard our children from this "penalty" not sentence them to suffering by our silence.

(Source: Intercessors for America) Read the entire article by going here.
- Father God, we ask that hundreds of thousands of parents across this nation would rise up and remove their children from the schools that are promoting the Day of Silence. Forgive those who are forcing the gay agenda in our schools, for they truly do not know what they do.
- "Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power." (Psalm 110:3)

Love Divine All Loves Excelling

"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him."
(1 John 4:16)

Lyrics

Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of Heav'n to earth come down; Fix in us thy humble dwelling; All thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus, Thou art all compassion, Pure unbounded love Thou art; Visit us with Thy salvation; Enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit, Into every troubled breast! Let us all in Thee inherit; Let us find that second rest. Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be; End of faith, as its beginning, Set our hearts at liberty.
Come, Almighty to deliver, Let us all Thy life receive; Suddenly return and never, Never more Thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, Serve Thee as Thy hosts above, Pray and praise Thee without ceasing, Glory in Thy perfect love.
Finish, then, Thy new creation; Pure and spotless let us be. Let us see Thy great salvation Perfectly restored in Thee; Changed from glory into glory, Till in Heav'n we take our place, Till we cast our crowns before Thee, Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

About the Hymn:

In 1961, during the Manchester, England, crusade . . . just as the meetings were about to start, Billy Graham became quite seriously ill. Billy had been scheduled to speak to the ministers of London just before the crusade opened. You can imagine my feelings when he sent word that I should represent him and speak at that meeting. The British pastors are themselves thorough scholars and often brilliant preachers. And they were expecting to hear Billy Graham, not me!

At the beginning of that meeting in Westminster's Central Hall, the ministers joined in singing this great hymn of Charles Wesley. Most of these British clergymen were also well acquainted with hymn texts and hymn tunes, and they sang gloriously. Accompanied by the grand piano and the great pipe organ and using the Welsh tune Blaenwern, these familiar words lifted our hearts in praise and prayer to God. I felt God's strength evident through the singing; He blessed our meeting together despite my fears and their disappointment.

'We have seen what we thought was unseeable':

First photo of a black hole revealed

It's our first glimpse of one of the weirdest spectacles in the universe: Astronomers released humanity's first image of a black hole Wednesday.

The picture reveals the black hole at the center of Messier 87, a massive galaxy in the "nearby" Virgo galaxy cluster. It looked like a flaming orange, yellow and black ring.

"We have seen what we thought was unseeable. We have seen and taken a picture of a black hole," said Sheperd Doeleman, Event Project Horizon project director at Harvard University. "This is an extraordinary scientific feat accomplished by a team of more than 200 researchers."

Since the black hole is, well, black, what we see in the image is gas and dust circling the hole, just far enough away to be safe.

That hot disk of material that encircles the hole shines bright, according to NASA. Against a bright backdrop, such as this disk, a black hole appears to cast a shadow.

"For years, science fiction movies have imagined what black holes look like," said Duncan Brown of Syracuse University. "The picture taken by the Event Horizon Telescope shows us what they really look like."

Images came from a collection of eight telescopes around the world specifically designed to peer at black holes. The telescopes are in Chile, Hawaii, Arizona, Mexico, Spain and at the South Pole.

This black hole's "event horizon" - the precipice, or point of no return, where light and matter begin to fall inexorably into the hole - is as big as our entire solar system.

The measurements are taken at a wavelength the human eye cannot see, so the astronomers added color to the image. They chose "exquisite gold because this light is so hot," said Jessica Dempsey, a co-discoverer and deputy director of the East Asian Observatory in Hawaii. "Making it these warm gold and oranges makes sense." (USA Today) Read more

Pennsylvania School Board Decrees "In God We Trust"
Can Be Displayed in Local Schools

The Greencastle-Antrim School Board in Greencastle, PA has voted unanimously to allow the national motto "In God We Trust" and other documents from US history to be displayed in foyers and other public areas of the district's primary, elementary, middle and high schools.

Teachers can also place the motto in their classrooms, as well, along with copies of the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence.

Herald-Mail Media reports last month, the school board approved the request of Tom McCloud of Waynesboro, PA, to display the national motto and other documents in the district's schools.

McCloud also volunteered to coordinate funding from groups in the local community to have the motto and documents printed and framed at no cost for the district's schools and classrooms.

The board also passed a resolution saying it desires to display the motto and documents because they serve patriotic, historical, educational and solemnizing purposes. (CBN) Read more
