Prayer for America . . .

Prayer for America . . .

Written by Susan L. Turner, Vice-President
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

(Taken from this week's One-Year Bible Study, below.)

Help, Lord.

We are asking for a Happy New Year for America, but are awash in evil plans from the enemy. We humbly, and in faith, ask that the spirit of lawlessness be banished from the earth and universe that You have created.
In Your Word found in Genesis 6-8, You record that You created Heaven from the firmament that You made to separate the waters from above and upon the earth.
May You Create Heaven On Earth This Year.
May we as Your children be just a small part of the cleansing and rebuilding of the desolation that man has purposely planned worldwide.

We Love You, Lord Jesus.

We ask Your Holy Spirit to please intercede for the saving of America, along with Israel and the Whole World and Universe that You have created.

In Your Son's Mighty Name we ask for these Blessings.
Amen.

"But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield." ("A Prayer for Guidance" Psalm 5:11-12 NKJV)

Focus on Israel

1. Investigators arrive at Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence - Ynet News

Speaking earlier in the day, Netanyahu told the media and opposition to "hold off on the partying" ahead of his police questioning later in the day.

"We notice reports in the media," Netanyahu said during a Likud faction meeting. "We hear the celebrations and sense the way the wind blows in TV studios and in the halls of the opposition-hold off on the partying, don't jump the gun. I told you and I repeat: Nothing will happen, because there is nothing. You will continue making wild allegations and we will continue leading the State of Israel."

Zionist Union leader Isaac Herzog, however, did not see any reason to celebrate. "This isn't a happy day. This is a hard day for the State of Israel," he said during his own faction meeting.

"We are not gloating," he added. "I'd say the most basic thing in moments like this is to understand that there is a rule of law in this country. We must put our trust in law enforcement authorities and allow them to complete the investigation without fear or interference. Particularly, we must stop with stupid and unnecessary bills that seek to distort the fact that legislation is based on decisions made by the attorney general and on an independent and unbiased system." (Read more)

- Father God in Heaven, we thank You that You have this entire matter in Your hands. We stand on the promise of Your word, and we ask for a quick resolution of this matter so that Prime Minister Netanyahu will be free to focus entirely on matters of Israel's security in these dangerous times. We rest our case before Your Court of Law, in Your name, amen.

- It is written: "When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Proverbs 16:7)

2, Netanyahu said to warn of more anti-Israel UN activity - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly expressed fears Sunday that the United Nations Security Council could take fresh action against Israel during a meeting on January 17, three days before US President Barack Obama is slated to leave office.

Netanyahu told his weekly cabinet meeting that Israel is "in the midst of an event that has still not ended," according to a report by Israel's Channel 10 news. (Read more)

3. Bennett vows to pursue Ma'ale Adumim annexation this month - Times of Israel

Jewish Home party leader Naftali Bennett on Sunday said he plans to introduce legislation this month that would extend Israeli sovereignty to the Jerusalem-area settlement of Ma'ale Adumim.

In a tweet, Bennett said his Orthodox-nationalist party would present to the Knesset what he described as a coalition-backed plan to lawmakers later this month - presumably after the January 20 inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

Bennett has long proposed that Israel annex large parts of the West Bank, arguing that the creation of a Palestinian state in that area poses a threat to Israel's existence. (Read more)

4. Abbas: 2017 will be the year of Palestinian statehood - Times of Israel

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday told Fatah party officials that 2017 would be "the year of the independent Palestinian state."

At a torch-lighting ceremony marking the 52nd anniversary of Fatah's founding, Abbas hailed the recent UN anti-settlement resolution as a diplomatic victory.

"The settlements are illegal, and in recent days, we were given an unprecedented decision regarding this issue," he told members of his party at the ceremony, held at the grave of former PLO leader Yasser Arafat in Ramallah, Channel 10 news reported. (Read more)

5. Hamas leader floats idea of West Bank-Gaza Strip federation - Jerusalem Post

A senior Hamas official said on Friday that a federation between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip could be a feasible solution to the ongoing division between Hamas and Fatah. "A federation between the West Bank and Gaza Strip may be better than the ongoing division," Mousa Abu Marzouk, the vice president of the Hamas Politburo, told Al-Ghad, a London-based Arabic satellite channel. A federation is defined as a political entity made up of partially self-governing regions. The division between Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and Fatah, which dominates the West Bank, has lasted for more than nine years. (Read more)

6. 'There will be no coalition if businesses open on the Sabbath' - Israel National News

Interior Minister and Shas part leader Aryeh Deri threatened a coalition crisis after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu refused to transfer authority over the government's laws on Sabbath observance to him, according to a report by the haredi Kikkar Hashabbat Hebrew news site.

Deri has been seeking the restoration of the authority over the Sabbath laws to the Interior Ministry for months. Health Minister Yaakov Litzman raised the issue again at a coalition meeting Sunday, but the Prime Minister reiterated his refusal to restore the authority to the Interior Ministry.

Deri's made his request following reports of various Sabbath violations, such as the opening of supermarkets on the Sabbath in Tel Aviv. (Read more)

7. Australia stands with Israel: UNSC resolution is 'one-sided' and 'counterproductive' - Ynet News

Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Friday slammed a UN Security Council resolution against Israel's settlement construction that was passed last week, saying it is "one-sided," "counterproductive" and "deeply unsettling."

Turnbull attended a Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony at the Central Synagogue in Sydney, where he told worshipers that his government supports "a peaceful resolution of the disputes between Israel and the Palestinians." Particularly, he said, "We support a two-state solution just as the government of Israel does."

According to the Australian Jewish News website, the prime minister stressed that a two-state solution "can only be negotiated between the parties," noting that "It is not assisted by one-sided resolutions made at the councils of the United Nations or anywhere else, and that is why Australia has not, and does not, support one-sided resolutions."

Australia, he said, believes such resolutions "are not conducive to the successful conclusion of negotiations, which we urge the parties to undertake." "These issues can only be resolved by the State of Israel and the Palestinian community," Turnbull added. "That is where the solution lies, when and where it is to be found." Turnbull also declared that "Australia stands with Israel. We support Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East." "Above all, we stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel in the fight against terrorists," the Australian leader added. (Read more)

8. Russian, Iranian presidents agree to work closely on Syria - Jerusalem Post

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran's President Hassan Rouhani agreed in a telephone conversation on Saturday to continue their close coordination in trying to end the Syria crisis, the Kremlin said in a statement.

The two men agreed on the importance of a new ceasefire agreement in Syria brokered by Russia and Turkey and plans for peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana, the Kremlin said.

Russia and Iran are strong supporters of President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian conflict. (Read more)

9. Special Prayers for Israel - Katherine Snyder

Dear Friends,

They spread a net for my feet-- I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path-- but they have fallen into it themselves. (Psalm 57:6)

Prayer is urgently needed in the next 20 days to defeat Obama's plans against Israel. This was on his agenda from the beginning of his term in office when he adopted Islamic propaganda against Israel in his Cairo speech.

In the next 20 days Obama has a 4 prong attack plan against Israel to further delegitimize this nation. (Read the rest of this message by going here.)

The Daily Brief

Please note:
Every prayer below is presented to our Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

1. Obama could still force Merrick Garland onto court during 'intersession recess'- Washington Times

President Obama will have one last chance to force Judge Merrick Garland onto the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday - but it's a legal gamble and one that has so many pitfalls that even those who say he could get away with it believe it isn't worth the fight. Mr. Obama's moment will come just before noon, in the five minutes that the Senate gavels the 114th Congress out of session and the time the 115th Congress begins.

In those few moments the Senate will go into what's known as an "intersession recess," creating one golden moment when the president could test his recess-appointment powers by sending Judge Garland to the high court. (Read more)

- Father, we take authority over any such action and curse it to its very roots. We ask that You preserve the Supreme Court to be able to judge based on the Constitution, not liberal activism.

- "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
(Matthew 7:13, 14)

2. Obama unleashes 3,853 regs, 18 for every law, record 97,110 pages of red tape - Washington Examiner

President Obama's lame duck administration poured on thousands more new regulations in 2016 at a rate of 18 for every new law passed, according to a Friday analysis of his team's expansion of federal authority.

While Congress passed just 211 laws, Obama's team issued an accompanying 3,852 new federal regulations, some costing billions of dollars.

The 2016 total was the highest annual number of regulations under Obama. (Read more)

- Lord, these excessive regulations have killed jobs and hamstrung industries all over the country for the last 8 years. We pray that You will guide our next administration in what to keep and what to dump in the pursuit of helping the American worker and Economy.

- "Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established." (Proverbs 4:26)

3. Federal judge issues injunction against Obama administration abortion, transgender regulations - Washington Post

A federal judge in Texas handed a victory to conservatives Saturday, issuing a temporary injunction to stop an Obama administration regulation that would prevent discrimination in health care on the basis of "gender identity" and "termination of pregnancy."

U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas by President George W. Bush, sided with conservative plaintiffs who argued that the administration's rule violated religious freedom. (Read more)

- Lord, we rejoice in this at least temporary victory over the false notion of "gender identity" - we pray that You will restore our nation to righteousness, and that the keepers of the gates will begin a new chapter of standing with godly values.

- "Behold You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom." (Psalm 51:6)

4. Under 3 weeks left: Obama in closing stretch of presidency - Yahoo News

His last vacation behind him, President Barack Obama is entering the closing stretch of his presidency, an eleventh-hour push to tie up loose ends and put finishing touches on his legacy before handing the reins to President-elect Donald Trump. Obama returned to Washington midday Monday from Hawaii with less than three weeks left.

His final days will largely be consumed by a bid to protect his endangered health care law, a major farewell speech and the ongoing handover of power to Trump.

In an email to supporters on Monday, Obama said his valedictory speech on Jan. 10 follows a tradition set in 1796 when the first president, George Washington, spoke to the American people for the last time in office. The speech will take place at McCormick Place, a giant convention center in Obama's hometown of Chicago.

"I'm thinking about them as a chance to say thank you for this amazing journey, to celebrate the ways you've changed this country for the better these past eight years, and to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here," Obama said.(Read more)

- Father, we hold out hope that the incoming administration will change the focus of America back to our roots. We bind any more actions from this outgoing President, and continue to declare Your Lordship over the United States. Let all of the negatives spoken over us by the current Administration be deleted from the atmosphere.

- "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21)

5. Democrats take sides in race for DNC chair - The Hill

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) has dominated the endorsements game in the race to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Ellison has accumulated support from a broad swath of liberals, including key figures from the party's progressive wing, major labor groups and scores of Capitol Hill lawmakers.

Still, that won't be enough to seal the deal for him. Many Democrats believe that despite Ellison's early momentum, the race is destined to come to the wire between him and Labor secretary Tom Perez . . . (Read more)

- Lift up the Democratic National Committee in prayer as they grapple with this critical administrative decision. May they be led by our Lord in all they say and do. Amen.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)

6. Trump 'aggressively' pursuing Netanyahu to attend inauguration - Times of Israel

US president-elect's White House transition team has been "aggressively" pursuing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attend the inauguration ceremony in Washington, DC later this month, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

"There's a plan for Trump to meet with Netanyahu," a source close to the transition team said, according to the paper. "They're talking all the time. And Netanyahu is talking about possibly going to the inauguration," the source was quoted as saying.

The report said Trump staffers, led by son-in-law Jared Kushner, were "aggressively courting" the Israeli prime minister in an effort to persuade him to attend the January 20 ceremony. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that President - Elect Trump is aggressively pursuing the opportunity to witness his installation as President of the United States on Jan. 20th. This invitation sends a strong signal to the nation of Israel that, in the next administration, Israel will be honored as the ally they are, and never again be ushered out of the back door of the White House. In Your name, amen.

- " . . . there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24)

7. Washington Post retracts story about Russian hack at Vermont utility
- New York Post

The Washington Post has retracted its story about Russian hackers penetrating the nation's electricity grid with a virus found in a Burlington, Vt., electric company laptop.

"Authorities say there is no indication of that so far [that Russians had penetrated the US electric grid]," according to an editor's note attached to a corrected version of the story on the paper's Web site. The computer at Burlington Electric that was hacked was not attached to the grid," the editor's note read.

News of the supposed hack had set off a firestorm of recriminations, with Vermont leaders calling Russian President Vladimir Putin "a thug" earlier Saturday, after one of the state's electric utilities found a virus on a laptop computer. A utility spokesman has also told the Burlington Free Press the laptop was not hooked into the grid. (Read more)

- Father, in this real case of "Fake News" we rejoice that truth won out over lies. We ask that all of these news media begin to report truth instead of slanted pieces aimed at furthering a liberal agenda.

- "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will not escape." (Proverbs 19:5)

8. California Democrats Legalize Child Prostitution - Washington Examiner

Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.

SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.

This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California's state government with a two-thirds "supermajority." To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking.

Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policymaking: it ignores experience, common sense and most of all human nature - especially its darker side.

The unintended but predictable consequence of how the real villains - pimps and other traffickers in human misery - will respond to this new law isn't difficult to foresee . . (Read more)

- Dear God, protect the children of our nation. As intercessors we have prayed that abortion of unborn babies be stopped. Now Lord, we plead prayerfully for the protection of children who will have no protection from being sold for sex in California. These progressive Democrats are law makers who believe that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking. These men and women clearly do not know You or Your laws. We ask that their hearts and eyes be opened and their repentance be immediate. Forgive them for they know not what they do. Lord Jesus, You can use all situations for the good of Your Kingdom. In Your Holy name, Amen.

- "It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble." (Luke 17:2; Matthew 18:26; or Mark 9:42)

9. Gunman opens fire on an Istanbul mosque just hours after terrorist was caught on CCTV stalking a nightclub - Daily Mail UK

A gunman has opened fire on an Istanbul mosque just hours after a gunman stormed a nightclub in the city during New Year celebrations and killed 39 people. Two people have been taken to hospital following the shooting at the Hasan Pasha Mosque in Algeria mosque in the north of the Turkish city. (Read more)

- Father, regardless of the circumstances of this shooting, it happened just a few hours after the Istanbul Night Club attack rattling nerves in Turkey. We ask that You bring the revelation of Your Son Jesus to these factions of Moslems. Let Your life an Light change their hearts.

- "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession." (Psalm 2:8)

The Russian Ruse

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have released a joint report saying that the Russians hacked Hillary Clinton's and the Democratic National Committee's email servers in an attempt to influence the US elections. This has resulted in the US "president" expelling some Russian diplomats. Many countries, including Russia and China, are trying to hack into US computers for intel. It is the reason why we have security measures, such as encryption and firewalls, for our sensitive information. The US is hacking other countries' computers, too. It's the normal spy business. What is important here is the information that showed the depth of corruption with Clinton and the Democratic Party.

The information contained in the hacked emails is damning evidence of the unethical, immoral, illegal chicanery practiced as an organized governmental and political crime syndicate by Clinton and the Democratic Party. The "president" and Clinton are saying that the Russians hacked the computers and released the information on them to influence the election. Whoever hacked the computers (as it is still unproven), did America a great favor. First, they showed that Clinton and the Democratic Party were poor stewards of sensitive information and, therefore, too incompetent to hold the office of the Presidency. Second, they revealed the extent of the institutional graft and corruption of Clinton and the DNC.

So here is the twist: The lame duck "president" is angry at the Russians for allegedly hacking email servers and trying to influence the US elections. The unethical and possible illegal acts of Clinton and the DNC which actually did influence the election, so the "president" is blaming the Russians for the political loss. You see, it is a great Russian Ruse-blame the Russians for influencing the elections, when in reality it was the content of the emails that demonstrated Clinton and the Democratic Party did not deserve, or were not qualified, to hold the office. Neither Clinton, the "president," or the DNC, have disputed the veracity of the content of the emails. They are just angry they got exposed, and that the content of the emails influenced the elections.

The Clintons and the Democratic Party leadership have so little faith that the American people can make up their own minds about an election. That's why they worked with the media to propagandize everyone to think that Clinton could not be beat; that those supporting Donald Trump were deplorable and unredeemable and so on. If the Russians influenced the election by exposing the truth about Clinton and the DNC, thank you. It's not, however, the Russians' fault that Clinton lost. It's her own incompetency, arrogance and corruption that caught up with her. Jeremiah 49:16 says, "Your arrogance has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, that hold the height of the hill."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Attitude of Gratitude:

A Thought for Today . . .

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. It turns problems into gifts, failures into successes, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. It can turn an existence into a real life, and disconnected situations into important and beneficial lessons. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace tor today, and creates a vision for tomorrow . . . Gratitude makes things right. (Author unknown)

Quake swarm near the California-Mexico border gets scientists' attention

A swarm of more than 250 small earthquakes have struck since New Year's Eve near the California-Mexico border, causing unease among residents and attention from scientists.

The strongest earthquake in the sequence was magnitude 3.9, striking directly underneath the town of Brawley, about 170 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

The earthquakes struck in the southern end of the Brawley Seismic Zone, a seismically active region where tectonic plates are moving away from each other and the Earth's crust is getting stretched out "and basically adding land," said Caltech seismologist Egill Hauksson.

The Brawley Seismic Zone is particularly important to watch because it is the region that connects the San Andreas and Imperial faults, both of which can produce damaging earthquakes. The seismic zone extends for about 30 miles from the city of Brawley, across the Salton Sea's southern half, and ends near Bombay Beach.

Hauksson was closely monitoring the swarm that began Saturday, as there was a chance that an earthquake of magnitude 5 or larger could be triggered.

"There's always reason to be concerned for a bigger earthquake," Hauksson said. But by Sunday night, the possibility of the swarm triggering a larger event had largely receded. (LA Times) Read more here.

The Good News Corner

"Rocking Bible Critics to the Core":

This Ancient Hebrew Discovery is About to Rewrite History

(Israel) - [Breaking Israel News] - After years of intense study, Dr. Douglas Petrovich has gathered sufficient evidence to claim that the ancient Israelites took Egyptian hieroglyphics and transformed it into a writing system of 22 alphabetic letters which correspond to the widely recognized Hebrew alphabet used today.

Archaeologist, epigrapher and professor of ancient Egyptian studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada, Dr. Petrovich used Hebrew and the Bible to translate inscriptions found on 18 ancient stone slabs. His findings have truly rocked Bible critics to the core.

"Judaism has always believed that ' God looked into the Hebrew Bible and created the world' making Hebrew the oldest known language," noted Roni Segal, academic adviser for The Israel Institute of Biblical Studies . . . However, to find an archaeologist making a similar claim is fascinating."

Petrovich's theory is that the Israelites sought to communicate in writing with other Israelites in Egypt. They, therefore, simplified Pharaoh's complex hieroglyphic writing system into a 22-letter alphabet. (Read more)
