The Daily Brief

1. Western diplomat: Iran, six world powers reach understanding over nuke program - Haaretz

Iran and six world powers have reached an understanding in the talks in Lausanne, Switzerland over Iran's nuclear program and the parties are now busy writing the joint announcement to be released later this evening, a Western diplomat told Haaretz.

The foreign ministers of Iran, the European Union, and the six powers are holding a meeting, before a joint statement will be made by European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at 8 P.M. Israel time. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will hold a press conference after the joint statement. (Read more here)

NEGOTIATORS SAY they have reached a preliminary deal on Iran's nuclear program, as Secretary of State John Kerry says all sides have the 'parameters to resolve major issues' on the program and will soon get back to work on a 'final deal.' (Fox News) Read more.

- Father, we know that Iran seeks to diffuse, distract, and delay in these negotiations, coming out with new demands all the time. We pray for Your wisdom for all leaders around this negotiating table, and that ALL hidden agendas be revealed.

  - "He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside; and he cannot deliver his soul . . ." (Isaiah 44:20)

2. Arkansas governor seeks changes in religious freedom bill - Fox News

Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Wednesday urged state lawmakers to change a controversial religious freedom bill sent to his desk a day earlier, in the face of criticism that it could allow businesses and others to discriminate based on sexual orientation.

Hutchinson had initially said he planned to sign the bill but backed off as his state, overnight, became the new focal point of a nationwide backlash over such legislation. Indiana for days has faced similar criticism for a related religious freedom bill.  (Read more)

- Lord the line in this article that speaks volumes is the one that talks about the backlash. We ask that Your will reign over this situation. We ask that You restore religious freedom to America, and we bind up the agendas that have run rampant over the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. In Jesus' name, amen.

  - "The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe." (Proverbs 29:25)

3. New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez indicted on corruption charges - CNS News

Sen. Bob Menendez, the son of Cuban immigrants who rose to become one of the highest-ranking Hispanic members of Congress, was charged Wednesday with accepting nearly $1 million worth of gifts and campaign contributions from a longtime friend in exchange for a stream of political favors. Menendez predicted he would be "vindicated" and said "this is not how my career is going to end" in a defiant statement in front of reporters and cheering supporters Wednesday evening. (Read more)

- Lord, only You know the thoughts and intents of this man. We ask that You  bring conviction to his heart and stop the corruption. We thank you for this senator, a member of the Democratic Party, who has not been afraid to oppose Obama's policies towards Israel. May he be protected now from any and all unjust charges lodged against him. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." (John 16:8)

4. DOJ- Lerner will not be charged with contempt -Western Journalism

The Department of Justice announced Wednesday that it will not pursue contempt charges against former IRS official Lois Lerner.

The DOJ explained in a seven-page letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, that the department's attorneys determined that Lerner did not waive her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination; and therefore, her refusal to testify before Congress in March of 2014 did not constitute criminal contempt. The House of Representatives voted in May of 2014 to hold Lerner in contempt of Congress. (Read more)

- Father it is sad that the Department of Justice has no justice. After continual rounds of lost emails, refusals to talk, and nearly every other "contempt" tactic, she is still not being charged. We ask that You  bring Your justice to bear on this situation, and touch her heart  to allow truth.

- "The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy . . . their sword shall enter their own heart. And their bows shall be broken." (Psalm 37:14,15)

5. California governor orders mandatory water restrictions amid drought - Fox News

California Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered state officials to impose mandatory water restrictions for the first time in history as the state grapples with a serious drought. In an executive order issued Wednesday, Brown ordered the state water board to implement reductions in cities and towns to cut usage by 25 percent. The move will impact residents, businesses, farmers and other users. (Read more)

 - Father, as California may have only a year's worth of water left, we pray for replenishing, for drought relief, for rain that refreshes the land.

- "Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain, the Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone."
(Zechariah 10:1)

6. Russian strategist suggests nuking Yellowstone - WND

Rest of world would see catastrophe, but 'U.S. will cease to exist'

The best way for Russia to solve its problem with America would be to trigger a nuclear weapon at Yellowstone National Park and hope that would set off a supervolcano, destroying the continent, according to the chief of a Russian think tank.

The suggestion is attributed to Konstantin Sivkov, who wrote in an article at the Russian language VPK News that, "As a result, the U.S. will cease to exist." While the rest of the world, he noted, would suffer a "catastrophe," Russia likely would suffer little "due to the distance from the eruption site, the size of the territory and the location. While the stress of such a disaster would affect all of civilization, he wrote, such a weapon "has the possibility" of stopping "all thought of aggression against Russia." (Read more)

- Father, we ask that no one in Russia listen to this man, and that every word he speaks fall to the ground.

- "Let them be like chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord chase them. Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord pursue them." (Psalm 35:5,6)

7. Russia threatens to use 'nuclear force' over Crimea and the Baltic states - The Independent (UK)

Russia has threatened to use "nuclear force" to defend its annexation of Crimea and warned that the "same conditions" that prompted it to take military action in Ukraine exist in the three Baltic states, all members of NATO.

According to notes made by an American at a meeting between Russian generals and US officials - and seen by The Times newspaper - Moscow threatened a "spectrum of responses from nuclear to non-military" if NATO moved more forces into Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The Russians told the meeting, which took place in Germany last month, that an attempt to return Crimea to Ukraine would be met "forcefully including through the use of nuclear force". (Read more)

- Father, we take note of this nuclear sabre-rattling on the part of Russia, and we ask You to quell these waters that are disturbed. Come, Lord Jesus, and visit Vladimir Putin with Your healing touch, that he only behave with a sound mind. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven." (Psalm 107:29,30)

8. Turkey arrests 10 Westerners, 4 Russians trying to cross into Syria to join ISIS
- Fox News

Turkish officials announced Thursday that they nabbed 10 Westerners and four Russians allegedly trying to cross into Syria to join ISIS in what may be an effort to stem international criticism that Ankara has been too lax in stopping the tide of foreign fighters using the Arab nation as a conduit on their way to join jihadists.

Three men, two women and four children from the UK and one French national were detained Wednesday by soldiers at a military outpost after being caught in the Hatay region of southern Turkey, Turkish armed forces said in a statement on its website. Separately, on Thursday, officials in the southeastern city of Gazientep announced four Russians had been detained on Thursday, just two days after they deported a Belgian national caught trying to cross into Syria.

The arrests seem to be evidence that, after years of international criticism for lax border controls, Turkey is taking a greater responsibility in monitoring human traffic over its 500-mile border with Syria. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for this report, and we ask that this "good will gesture" on behalf of Turkey would be sustained in the days ahead, and that Turkey would join all other nations that are now working to reign in the ISIS terrorists and to dismantle their infrastructure. Thank You, Lord, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (John 14:14)

9. Nearly 150 dead in Al-Shabaab school attack, Kenyan officials say
- Fox News

A security operation is over and 147 people have been killed in an attack Thursday by Al Qaeda-linked terror group Al-Shabaab on a Kenyan college, officials said. The officials said four attackers were killed during the operation. The siege on Garissa University also left dozens more injured and hundreds of students unaccounted for. The interior ministry said around 500 of 815 students have been accounted for, but hundreds remain missing. The students at Garissa are predominantly non-Muslim, a source told Fox News.

"There are many dead bodies of Christians inside the building," Al-Shabaab spokesman Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab told Sky News. "We are also holding many Christians alive. Fighting still goes on inside the college."

Collins Wetangula, the vice chairman of the student union, said when the gunmen arrived at his dormitory he could hear them opening doors and asking if the people who had hidden inside whether they were Muslims or Christians. "If you were a Christian you were shot on the spot," he said. "With each blast of the gun I thought I was going to die."

A spokesman for the terror group told the BBC that it attacked the school because "it's on Muslim land colonized by non-Muslims." The spokesman also said the gunmen had separated non-Muslims from Muslims and had freed 15 of the latter group. (Read more)

- Abba Father God, when we read reports like these, we recoil in horror. Clearly, Christian students were targeted in this massacre . . . we ask Your comfort for their families today. For those still trapped inside this university, we ask for divine protection to cover them. Abba, let these murderers be brought to justice quickly. In Jesus' name we pray, amen and amen.

- "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." (2 Timothy 3:1`)

10. Nigeria celebrates Buhari's stunning win; challenges loom- Fox News

Nigerians celebrated Muhammadu Buhari's electrifying victory in presidential elections Wednesday but sobering challenges confront their next leader, from an Islamic uprising to widespread poverty and graft.

Buhari, 72, made history in Africa's most populous country as the first opposition party candidate to win elections, ending President Goodluck Jonathan's bid for another term. For a former major general who three decades ago led Nigeria following a coup, it was an amazing transformation to a democratically elected president.(Read more)

- Father, the people of Nigeria democratically elected Buhari, but they may not have remembered - or cared - that he once was a Muslim military dictator in Nigeria . . . and that he was ousted by his own Army. Lord, let Your hand of protection be upon the Christians of Nigeria, and let any hidden plans be revealed.

- "He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you take refuge; his truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4)

1. Syria rebels take last border crossing with Jordan - Times of Israel

Al-Qaeda-backed Syrian rebels took control of the last border crossing with Jordan still controlled by Syria's Assad regime, according to new reports.

The Nasib crossing in Syria's Daraa province was the last holdout of Syrian military forces on the border with Jordan, and its fall marks a psychological victory for anti-regime rebels. Jordanian authorities reportedly closed the crossing before the battle. (Read more)

2. Meeting in Jerusalem, Netanyahu, Boehner hail US-Israel ties - Times of Israel

House Speaker John Boehner and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday hailed the "strong" ties between Israel and the US, despite heightened tensions between the prime minister and the White House in recent months.

In their public remarks, neither politician directly addressed ongoing negotiations between world powers and Iran over Tehran's contested nuclear program.

Arriving in Jerusalem as head of a delegation of lawmakers visiting US allies in the Middle East, Boehner said that wherever they've gone, the "message is the same - you can't continue to turn your eye away from the threats that face all of us." (Read more)

3. US support for 2-state solution hits 20-year low - Times of Israel

Support in the United States for a Palestinian state has reached its lowest point in nearly 20 years, according to a new poll published by the Washington Post and ABC News.

Asked whether they support or oppose the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 39 percent of American respondents backed a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and 36% opposed it. The remaining 25% offered no opinion. (Read more)

4. Israel: PA is in cahoots with Hamas, has no right to threaten us in name of int'l law - Jerusalem Post

"Palestine" has no right to join the International Criminal Court, because there is no Palestinian state in accordance with international law, Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon said Wednesday.

Nachshon said that for this reason, the ICC's prosecutor erred earlier this year in accepting the Palestinian request for a preliminary examination into alleged war crimes stemming from Operation Protective Edge over the summer. His words came on the day that the Palestinians formally joined the court.

"The Palestinian Authority government, which has established a partnership with the murderous Hamas terrorist organization that carries out war crimes like those carried out by Islamic State, is the last one that can threaten to file claims in the international court in the Hague," he said. 5. Caroline Glick: Annex Judea and Samaria Now - Israel National News

Journalist and writer Caroline Glick, author of the book "The Israeli Solution: A One-State Plan for Peace in the Middle East", says Israel should annex Judea and Samaria now, in response to President Barack Obama's statements that the United States will "re-evaluate" its support for Israel at the United Nations.

Seeing as Obama is planning to change American policy and "force Israel into completely indefensible borders", Glick told Arutz Sheva, "the time has come for Israel to come out with an alternative policy, and the alternative policy that we have to put out is applying Israeli law and sovereignty to Judea and Samaria." 6. Zarif Urges West to 'Seize the Moment' and Reach an Agreement - Israel National News

Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Wednesday urged world powers to "seize the moment" and drop their "excessive demands" as marathon nuclear talks with the West continued.

"Iran has shown its readiness to engage with dignity and it's time for our negotiating partners to seize the moment," Zarif told reporters in Lausanne, according to AFP.

Iran had shown that it wants "an entente" with the world but it "will not accept submitting to force and excessive demands. Those we are negotiating with should accept this reality," Zarif declared. (Read more)

7. [Repeating] Six world powers have reached agreement on key elements of a framework to contain Iran's nuclear program. - POLITICO

Federica Mogherini, the European Union's foreign policy chief, and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif announced the agreement at a press conference in Lausanne, Switzerland. Mogherini said the negotiators had taken a "decisive step" by reaching "solutions on key parameters of a comprehensive plan of action."

The agreement comes after a week of intense talks between the United States and its negotiating partners - France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia and China - and Iran, which dragged on two days after the self-imposed deadline.

The goal was to reach a broad agreement on how to contain Iran's nuclear program and provide assurances that it won't develop a nuclear weapon, followed by more specific talks to produce technical details by June 30. (Read more)

I will fill thee with men as with locusts

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a Somali-born former Muslim immigrant to America who is trying to promote a reformation of Islam by pointing out its brutal laws and violation of women's rights. She has characterized Islam as the "new fascism" and has been very critical of the writings of Mohammad. She has denounced Islam, becoming an atheist. In 2003, she was quoted by a Dutch newspaper saying that Mohammad was a pervert for marrying a six year old and consummating the marriage when she was nine. Islamists charged her with religious discrimination but was acquitted by the civil court in The Hague. What she writes for Time about the growing Muslim population in America is more than alarming.

Hirsi Ali cited statistics from Pew Research on how some 40% of Muslim immigrants between now and 2030 will be from three countries--Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Iraq, with Somalia and Iran the next largest country groups. She says that Pew found the majority of these have a casual viewpoint of the use of violence (terrorism) in protecting Islam, that Sharia Law is the revealed word of god. What bothers her most, she writes, is how receptive Americans, especially African Americans, are to converting to Islam. She cited J. Michael Waller of the Institute of World Politics "80% of prisoners who "find faith" while behind bars convert to Islam."

She continued, "Last month, I was dismayed to learn that Fouad al-Bayly, the Egyptian-born imam of the Islamic Center of Johnstown, PA--who in 2007 said that I deserved to die for "defaming" Islam--has been paid thousands of dollars by the Department of Justice to offer religious instruction to inmates in prisons. The European experience shows that radicalization is a serious problem, one that we ignore at our peril." She concludes: "US officials urgently need to choose better partners in the Muslim-American community--not the likes of Fouad al-Bayly. The assumption that Europe's problem of failed assimilation "couldn't happen here" just because American assimilation worked well in the past is much too complacent."

America's own Justice Department is advocating the teaching of radical Islam, and using your tax dollars to do it. Jeremiah 51:14 says of Babylon, "Surely I will fill thee with men as with locusts; and they shall raise a battle cry against thee." This is the Lord's vengeance on Babylon for the nation's treatment of Israel. The United States is entered into very dangerous waters. We have a "president" who has opened the door to Islamic immigration and is paying Islamic extremists to convert and radicalize our population while at the same time positioning laws and ordinances to paint Christians and Jews as the radicals. Domestic terrorism lingers on the horizon, fomented by the US "president."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A note from the editor: CHPP found an obscure report last month, stating that this imam had been hired to work inside the prison in Johnstown, PA. At that time, we asked you all to join us in praying that this situation would be revealed to many, and that action be taken to remove this man from his position.

Today we thank you all for your prayers . . . they are being answered! Clearly, others are now seeing and taking note of this travesty, amen. We continue to ask that this man be removed, and that all others who are now hidden inside our prisons, teaching the tenets of Islam, also be revealed and removed. Once again, thank you all for your prayers. They are "availing much!"

Urgent News in Indiana!

Indiana doing '180,' now leaving religious defenseless? 'It would be better if this law had never even been introduced'

. . . reports early Thursday said language was being considered in Indiana that would gut the original intent and provisions of the law.

One online report said a new section was being added to Indiana's law that would forbid anyone from deciding not to provide any product or service based on "sexual orientation" or "gender identity."

J. Matt Barber, a popular blogger and associate dean in the law school at Liberty University, said, "What was intended as a shield to protect religious liberty has now become a sword to destroy it.

"What was intended to defend people of faith against being forced by government, under penalty of law, to affirmatively violate their First Amendment-protected liberty of conscience, has now been turned into a government weapon that compels people of faith to violate that conscience.

Barber called the changes "a complete 180."

"If this is the final version, it would be better if this 'RFRA' had never even been introduced. [Gov.] Pence must veto this and clarify that no person with a sincere religious belief against sin-based 'gay marriage' may be compelled in any way, shape or form, to participate in that counter-Christian event. If he does not, then he has become an enemy to religious liberty and his chances of ever becoming president are over." (WND) Read the full report here.

- Lord God, we ask that You put a halt to this anticipated "turnaround," and that You strengthen Governor Pence in the inner man, that he will be able to STAND against this onslaught. We place the "stick" -- the Blood-washed Cross of Christ -- into the midst of this "engine of destruction" against Indiana's RFRA law, and decree that this agenda now be stopped in its tracks. Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayer, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.
- "He will be a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment, a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate." (Isaiah 28:6)

"The evil bow down before the good; And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous." (Proverbs 14:19)

Worldwide Call for Prayer for Israel on Passover

Christian Leaders Call for Passover Blood Moon Prayer for Israel's Safety

"God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the fourth day." (Genesis 1:17-19)

Christian leaders are hoping to channel the Passover 2015 Blood Moon fever into a time of fervent prayer for Israel.

Pastor Mark Biltz, who first popularized the Blood Moon tetrads, and Bob O'Dell of Root Source, who discovered unique insights connecting the recent solar and lunar eclipses with the modern State of Israel, are
calling for Christians everywhere to pray for four minutes and forty four seconds during the upcoming Passover Blood Moon.
"Bob and I were influenced by the rarity of this coming Blood Moon - the shortest lunar eclipse ever recorded in human history on the night of Passover, and the fourth shortest of all eclipses in the last 4,000 years," Biltz told Breaking Israel News.

The imminent total lunar eclipse, known as a Blood Moon, will take place on the fourth day of the fourth month, April 4th, and will last for exactly four minutes and forty four seconds.

"Iran's impending nuclear threat in the region has Israel very concerned. So we believe it is both important and urgent that Christians everywhere pray for the peace of Jerusalem on 4/4 for just 4 minutes and 44 seconds," explained Biltz.
The number four has Biblical significance, according to Root Source co-founder Gidon Ariel. "Not only does God's name have four letters, but it was on the fourth day of creation that God created the sun and the moon, establishing them as signs to mark sacred times, such as the Festival of Passover. It is incredible to see Christians putting aside centuries of anti-Semitism and coming towards Israel in friendship and prayer this Passover."
. . . Biltz and O'Dell have organized a special prayer event scheduled for 11:58 AM GMT and is a response to a similar call issued two weeks ago by Ariel. For the corresponding time in your area, click here.
(Article continues, stating that the authors are calling for all of us to read Psalm 122 for those 4 minutes and 44 seconds, at the exact time indicated. To read all of this article, please go here.)

Easter Breakthrough! NYC's Mayor De Blasio Extends Grace to City Churches

Christian congregations in New York City that rent space in public schools will be able to hold Easter services in city schools this Sunday.

According to Religion News Service, the office of City Mayor Bill de Blasio said it would work to ensure it.

On Monday, the US Supreme Court rejected an appeal from the Bronx Household of Faith that sought to overturn a ban on after-hours worship services at public schools.

Pastor Robert Hall, with the Bronx Household of Faith, spoke with CBN News about these developments. Click here to watch.

"Now that litigation has concluded, the city will develop rules of the road that respect the rights of both religious groups and nonparticipants," the mayor's spokesman told RNS.

RNS reports that Monday's decision, issued without comment, was the third time the high court rejected an appeal by the church, which for years held Sunday services at a local public school. The church finished work on its own building last year, but still needs extra space for events that include religious services.

The New York City Board of Education reportedly said it had opposed churches from renting space in city-owned buildings so as to not violate the so-called "separation of church and state."

But Mayor de Blasio has said he wants to allow congregations the same access as any other group. Earlier this year, the de Blasio administration decided to permit preschool classes to break in the middle of the day for prayer or religious instruction. (CBN) Read more here.

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

"The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ."
(Galatians 6:14)

Lyrics:

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff'ring and shame,
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain:

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above,
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see;
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

Refrain
