The Daily Brief

1. It's Official! Oklahoma Becomes Second State to Ban Dismemberment Abortion - Breaking Christian News

(Oklahoma City, OK) - Oklahoma has become the second state in the nation to ban the procedure of dismemberment abortions, the most common form of second-trimester abortion. Gov. Mary Fallin signed the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act into law Monday night, protecting the state's unborn babies from the process of dilation and evacuation (D&E) abortion, in which unborn babies are torn apart limb-from-limb.

The bill, which takes effect on November 1, passed the state legislature by lopsided majorities, clearing the state House of Representatives 84-2 in February, and the state Senate last week by a 37-4 margin.

- Lord, we praise Your Name for the passage of this bill against such an horrific practice. We pray that You will change the hearts of those to see the unborn as just "tissue."

- "do not kill the innocent and righteous" (Exodus 23:7)

2. HB 7015, Connecticut's Assisted Suicide Bill, Defeated in Committee! - Family Institute of Connecticut Action

Yesterday, April 14, at 5:00 p.m., the Assisted Suicide bill "died in committee" for the third year in a row. We told you all three years that defeating the Assisted Suicide bill in Committee was the highest legislative priority of the Family Institute of Connecticut Action. FIC Action and our allies accomplished exactly that all three years.

In fact, in all the years I have been involved with FIC--as volunteer, public policy director and president--we have never defeated a bill as decisively as Assisted Suicide--in all three years but especially in 2015. This was, quite simply, some of the best work FIC Action has ever done. (CitizenLink) Read more.

- Lord God, we thank You that one vigilant watchman in the State of Connecticut called this bill to our attention several weeks ago, so that we were able to join her in prayer that this horrific bill would, indeed, "die in committee." And now, that which we have decreed in heaven has come to pass on earth. Thank You, God, that as the family of God and as watchmen, united on the wall for our nation, we are privileged to cast our burdens before You, knowing that You are well able to answer our pleas. Thank You, Lord, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." (Psalm 55:22)

3. Netanyahu at memorial: Iran deal shows lessons of Holocaust have not been learned- Jerusalem Post

Israelis across the country began to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day with memorials and ceremonies on Wednesday evening. Ceremonies across the country will continue through Thursday. The commemoration of the six million Jews murdered by the Germans began with a torch-lighting ceremony attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Reuven Rivlin and other senior officials at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. Netanyahu said at the ceremony that Iran seeks to rule the region and destroy the Jewish state.

- Father, though these ceremonies and memorials admonish us to "never forget," it seems in recent years that the lessons of history are being replayed across the nations. Both Christians and Jews are being persecuted. We pray, Lord for Your mercy over all of us, and ask Your forgiveness to wash them and change them, for "they know not what they do."

- "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold."
(Matthew 24:12)

4. Mass movement: US Christians don orange in church to honor ISIS victims- Fox News

A new campaign sweeping through American churches has worshipers wearing orange - either in their Sunday best or on ribbons - to raise attention to the Christians executed at the hands of ISIS.

The trend draws on the color orange to represent the jump suits worn by captives of the terrorist group, including some 20 Egyptian Copts beheaded last month in Libya. The campaign comes on the heels of remarks by Pope Francis calling attention to the modern-day persecution of Christians around the world. The Rev. Frank Karwacki, of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Mount Carmel, Pa., hoped to draw attention to the plight of persecuted Christians by encouraging members of his congregation to wear orange ribbons and dress in the color.

- Thank You, Lord for this attempt to bring awareness to the deaths of these Christians by ISIS. We ask that it move all Christians in Your Body to pray and seek Your Face in light of the slaughter being perpetrated by Jihadists throughout the Middle East.

- "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that no more that they can do." (Luke 12:4)

5. Clinton Foundation to keep accepting donations from foreign governments- Fox News

The Clinton Foundation said late Wednesday that it will continue to accept donations from foreign governments during Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, despite concerns that such gifts will create a conflict of interest for the Democratic front-runner.

- Lord, Ms. Clinton appears to be above the law and is being allowed to continue her march of corruption and lawlessness. We ask that You use whatever means necessary to stop her.

-"then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment." (2 Peter 2:9)

6. How the FBI is whitewashing the Saudi connection to 9/11 - New York Post

The investigation into the prominent Saudi family's ties to the hijackers started on Sept. 19, 2001, and remained active for several years. It was led by the FBI's Tampa field office but also involved the bureau's field offices in New York and Washington, and also the Southwest Florida Domestic Security Task Force.

- Lord, truth is being covered in order to placate those who wish us harm. We ask Your intervention to stop the FBI from these foolish steps and convict their hearts to have truth and wisdom.

-"Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom." (Psalm 51:6)

7. Oil-Rich Nations Are Selling Off Their Petrodollar Assets at Record Pace - Bloomberg

Now that oil prices have dropped by half to $50 a barrel, Saudi Arabia and other commodity-rich nations are fast drawing down those "petrodollar" reserves. Some nations, such as Angola, are burning through their savings at a record pace, removing a source of liquidity from global markets.

- Lord, we are in the midst of a potential worldwide economic meltdown. We cry out for your help in all areas, including the petrodollars.

-"Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live." (Psalm 116:2)

8. ICE Director: Agents Risk Termination For Not Enforcing Obama's Immigration Policy -CNS News

Sarah Saldana, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), told members of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that ICE agents who do not enforce President Barack Obama's immigration priorities, outlined in a Nov. 20 DHS memo, could be fired for not following an agency directive.

- Lord, this is another example government aggression towards anyone who does not agree - our agents cannot stand against illegal and unconstitutional actions. We pray your protection over those who see the lawlessness, and ask that You make a way where there seems to be no way.

- "I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your Word." (Psalm 119:147)

9. Rome Exorcist: 'ISIS Is Satan' - CNS News

Rev. Gabriele Amorth, a high-profile exorcist for the diocese of Rome, said in a Facebook post last week that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) "is Satan." He also lamented the West's lack of response to the threat of ISIS.

"ISIS is Satan. Things first happen in the spiritual realms, then they are made concrete on this earth," Amorth wrote on April 8, according to a translation provided by Catholic News Agency (CNA).

"There are only two spiritual realms: The Holy Spirit and the demonic spirit," he continued.

- Lord, we know that ISIS is of Satan. We pray that You will wake up sleeping Christians to pray in the Power of the Holy Spirit against the evil that has created gross darkness over the world.

-"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him" (John 8:44)

10. Bill: Killing Unborn Could Bring Murder Charge--Unless Mom or Medical Pro Does It - CNS News

Republican lawmakers in Colorado have introduced a bill that would allow someone to be charged with murder for killing an unborn child, prompted by the attack on a pregnant woman whose baby was cut from her womb. . . The bill does not apply to abortion.

- Father, it was a sad day when the coroner ruled that the baby taken from this woman's womb was not a "person." We ask Your forgiveness and revelation of truth for him. We also pray for the passage of this bill to at least make a start towards removal of the shedding of innocent blood in our land.

-"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before MY eyes. Cease to do evil" (Isaiah 1:16)

2. Netanyahu says West is 'comatose, delusional' in face of today's Nazis: Iran - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday compared Iran's violent and expansionist aspirations in the Middle East to the Nazi campaign to conquer Europe during World War II.

He excoriated the US-led world powers for capitulating to Iran, and allowing it to maintain key elements of its nuclear program in the deal currently being negotiated, even as Tehran seeks to acquire weapons of mass destruction and destroy the Jewish state.

3. EU Parliamentarian: The Writing is On the Wall - Israel National News

European Parliamentarian Meir Habib said Wednesday that the Jews of Europe felt as if they were facing the same dangers their parents and grandparents had on the eve of the Holocaust. "Today, we understand more than ever the feelings and feats of the Jewish residents of Europe before the war," Habib said. "From an early age children have seen swastikas carved into the walls of their school. All they know is that they and their parents dare not reveal that they are Jews."

4. Hamas accelerates its tunnel-building, using heavy machinery - Times of Israel

Hamas has begun using heavy machinery and engineering tools to accelerate the excavation of attack tunnels leading from the Gaza Strip under the Israeli border, sources in the Palestinian enclave told the Times of Israel Wednesday.

The equipment, the sources said, includes small bulldozers with the ability to maneuver in tight spaces. From the Israeli side of the border, larger tractors are clearly visible above the ground as the machines prepare the tunnel entries.

The Gaza-based terrorist organization has been using whatever cement it can get its hands on for the construction of the tunnels, and fortifying the walls of its underground structures with wood as well.

5. F-35 simulator touches down in Israel - YNET News

The first simulator for the Israeli Air Force's most advanced jets - the F-35 - arrived in the Jewish State recently and was unveiled on Wednesday at an airbase in the Negev as part of the preparations for the advanced warplane's expected delivery in 20 months. The simulator will integrate with the rest of the air force's preparations ahead of the establishment of the first squadron for the stealth fighter, codenamed Adir in Hebrew.

The squadron already included a Brigadier-General-level commander and five combat pilots who will receive specialized training in the US over the next year and will be expected to train the pilots of the first operational squadron, which will be composed of 19 pilots. Unlike the traditional two-seat warplanes already in service, the Adir is a one-seater jet, meaning new pilots will not enjoy the luxury of flying with an instructor as a co-pilot.

7. How Israel Hid Its Secret Nuclear Weapons Program - Politico

For decades, the world has known that the massive Israeli facility near Dimona, in the Negev Desert, was the key to its secret nuclear project. Yet, for decades, the world-and Israel-knew that Israel had once misleadingly referred to it as a "textile factory." Until now, though, we've never known how that myth began-and how quickly the United States saw through it. The answers, as it turns out, is part of a fascinating tale that played out in the closing weeks of the Eisenhower administration-a story that begins with the father of Secretary of State John Kerry and a familiar charge that the U.S. intelligence community failed to "connect the dots."

In its final months, even as the Kennedy-Nixon presidential race captivated the country, the Eisenhower administration faced a serious of crises involving Cuba and Laos. Yet, as the fall of 1960 progressed, Eisenhower encountered a significant and unexpected problem of a new kind-U.S. diplomats learned and U.S. intelligence soon confirmed that Israel was building, with French aid, a secret nuclear reactor in the Negev Desert. Soon concluding that the Israelis were likely seeking an eventual nuclear weapons capability, the administration saw a threat to strategic stability in the Middle East and a nuclear proliferation threat. Adding fuel to the fire was the perception that Israel was deceitful, or had not "come clean," as CIA director Allen Dulles put it. Once the Americans started asking questions about Dimona, the site of Israel's nuclear complex, the Israelis gave evasive and implausible cover stories.

2. On the heels of a bad Iran deal: Obama Says 'Never forget. Never again,' in Remembrance Day Message - Times of Israel

US President Barack Obama called for a forceful stand against anti-Semitism in a message marking Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"It is incumbent upon us to make real those timeless words, 'Never forget. Never again.' Yet, even as we recognize that mankind is capable of unspeakable acts of evil, we also draw strength from the survivors, the liberators, and the righteous among nations who represented humanity at its best," Obama said.

"With their example to guide us, together we must firmly and forcefully condemn the anti-Semitism that is still far too common today. Together we must stand against bigotry and hatred in all their forms. And together, we can leave our children a world that is more just, more free, and more secure for all humankind." (Read more)

6. Prayers for Holocaust Remembrance Day - Adapted from Intercessors for Israel

Ask God to encourage survivors through this section of scripture, as after it was all said and done, He has made us "an exceedingly great army" (Ezekiel 37:10).

Pray for all the survivors in Israel to be comforted in Zion (Isaiah 40:1-2).

Ask the Lord Yeshua to reveal Himself to them (Jeremiah 31:7).

Thank Him for the many survivors who - against all odds - have come into the kingdom of God's Son.

Plead with God to bring all remaining survivors in exile home to Israel (Ezekiel 39:28).

Let's agree before His throne that the next government will understand that more needs to be done to provide for these precious people as they go through the final stage of their life on earth.

Please include prayers for salvation and comfort to the victims and survivors of terrorist attacks also.

Emergency Concall

This Saturday, April 18th: Emergency Conference Call for Supreme Court Hearing on Gay Marriage.

THANK YOU

Prayer for the Court

Today's Prayer for the Supreme Court Hearings on Gay Marriage:

The Impact of Gay Marriage upon the Children

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (Matthew 18:6)

Dear Praying Friends, Today, we consider those lost in the public debate about homosexual "marriage" -- the children. Unique threats impact the wellbeing of children in homosexual "marriage," by their nature, unnatural arrangements. Because homosexuals cannot reproduce, they must acquire children by adoption, artificial insemination, other novel methods, or winning legal custody of children from a heterosexual spouse.

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion against the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in United States v. Windsor (2013): "It humiliates tens of thousands of children now being raised by same-sex couples. The law in question makes it even more difficult for the children to understand the integrity and closeness of their own family and its concord with other families in their community and in their daily lives."
Kennedy believed the word "marriage" would somehow dignify homosexual "families," but did not say how or why. He was suggesting that legalizing homosexual "marriage," like waving a magic wand, would turn these man-made unnatural arrangements into "families" akin to those with a father and mother. The broadening of this ruling to mandate all states would mean more homosexual adoptions and more closing of Catholic and Protestant adoption agencies that cannot for religious conscience place babies in homosexual homes. Fewer children will be adopted into stable homes with both a mother and a father. More children will be put at risk in troubled homosexual-run homes.
Six people raised in homosexual households have submitted Amicus Briefs, including two women, Heather Barwick and Katy Faust, whose stories I have been privileged to hear in person. Their Brief against same-sex "marriage" now before the Court, can be found HERE. They try to maintain anonymity for their own families and the people in their stories, to protect them from the kind of recrimination, rage and retribution that has become the norm from homosexual activists against anyone who openly opposes same-sex "marriage." Katy wrote two open letters to Justice Kennedy. Here are excerpts from her first letter. Her second letter answers criticisms from homosexual activists who attempted to neutralize her points.
. . . Let's pray:

- God, please intervene to protect the children who, if forced to grow up in same-sex households, apart from the true nurture and admonition of the Lord and with a distorted view of God, the Bible and the family. Have mercy upon those who are already in such circumstances (Gen 18:19; Dt 11:16-21; Jn 21:15; Eph 6:4).

- Preserve, protect and save these and yet unborn children who will be and already are being adopted into these unnatural households (Is 59:21; Mt 19:14; Jn 10:8-15)

- Protect all of our children and grandchildren, some who are already being taught in public schools that homosexuality is OK, that same-sex "marriage" is OK, even equivalent in value to natural marriage (Is 59:2-5; Jeremiah 9:3-6; Rom 1:22-32)

- Please intervene to stop the rush toward laws that give people special rights and benefits because of their sexual practices and identity. Stop the madness: fines and lawsuits against God fearing people who object because of their faith -- all of which will accelerate and multiply if the Supreme Court does not uphold historic, Biblical, traditional marriage -- all of which will impact children disproportionately! (Isaiah 59:15; Luke 18:1-8; Jude 1: all)

- Cause each member of the Court to take this matter deeply into the his or her heart, and to stand up for natural marriage for the sake of the children even if they cannot see all the other reasons that they should (Mt 18:5-6; 2 Sam 23:3)

- Bend, too, the mindset of too many American people who are willing to consent to all of this. And send another great awakening that will draw millions of men and women, boys and girls to Christ - across America and beyond (2 Chr 7:14; Mt 18:5-6; Rom 1:32; Acts 2:37-39; 1 Cor 6:9-11).

President Obama's Passover Seder

President Obama's Passover Seder

. . . During the White House Passover Seder, Obama sent his blessings to the Jews around the world. He said that the Exodus from ancient Egypt, the journey of the Israelites to freedom, meant choosing "faith over fear, courage over complacency." It reminds us, he said, that "there is always a reason to hope," and he somehow managed to wedge the civil rights movement into the picture.

Such exalted humanistic declarations applied to the agreement with Iran are ludicrous. In the Biblical account Pharaoh was overcome and the Jews were saved. In contrast, the agreement with Iran gives the Ayatollahs, the Iranian Pharaohs, international license to manufacture bombs to destroy the Jews. Moreover, the Exodus occurred only after Pharaoh paid no attention to the first plagues sent by God, warning of what would happen if he did not free the Jews and allow them to return to their homeland, Israel. What should be learned from the Exodus is the wisdom of Netanyahu's proposal for increasing the sanctions on Iran. They are the culmination of the necessary warnings sent to any evil entity and certainly to Iran. Thus, as it is written in both the Old Testament and the Passover Haggadah, only when Pharaoh refused, regardless of the warnings, to free the Jews, did God bring the tenth plague on the Egyptians, and all the firstborn of Egypt were killed.
If Obama had gradually increased the sanctions on Iran, now would be the time to use the lesson of Egypt. According to the Bible, only if Khamenei hardened his heart would bunker-penetrating bombs be launched against Tehran. Even today, that is still possible. The Exodus of the Israelites to the Promised Land was not a matter of concession, fear or appeasement, like Obama's mistaken interpretation. It was strong-willed, fearless, and determined, and the Israelites smote those seeking to kill them, down to the last one.
Obama's twisting of the account reveals the extent of his ignorance of both the true nature of the Iranians and how determined and deadly they are, and, unfortunately, of the real history of his Israeli allies. The Obama administration has not yet understood that the Iranians plan to develop a nuclear bomb and to use it to realize their ambition to achieve regional expansion and hegemony. The Islamist clerics sanction the use of chemical and biological warfare, relying, irony of ironies, on the 10 plagues, and on Islamic history, according to which Muhammad used vermin, snakes and scorpions to attack the "infidel" city of Taif. According to Islamic doctrine, Islam should always pay its enemies back in kind, so its twisted logic decrees that if the Americans used the atomic bomb against Japan, Iran can use it against the Americans.

The American administration has deluded itself into thinking that the Iranians, who already are denying or falsifying the details of the agreement, will abort their pan-Middle Eastern imperialistic ambitions. The administration is trying to sell the entire Middle East the fairy tale that the Iranian regime, which invested billions - if not trillions - of dollars in bunkers, centrifuges and uranium, had its nuclear scientists assassinated, had its population starved through sanctions, developed missiles, weaponry and an army, and stands poised to buy cutting-edge Russian anti-aircraft missiles, is now willing to toss it all away to justify Obama's next Nobel Peace Prize or because Obama and Kerry were such charismatic dinner companions in Lausanne.

Israel has yet to be convinced.

Islam's Message to "Islamophobes" - Shut Up or Else

In a number of interviews and presentations recently, Understanding the Threat (UTT) has received questions about how our enemy uses the label of "Islamophobe" to silence and threaten those who speak honestly and factually about the threat of the Islamic Movement here and abroad.

In a brief attempt to review, we will simply look at three key pieces of information: the Islamic Law of Slander, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Cairo Declaration, and the OIC's 10 Year Programme of Action.

The Good News Corner

This Islamic Terrorist Left Jihad for Jesus!

"Many people in Islamic countries, especially young Muslims, are exhausted and overwhelmed. They are tired. They want to take shelter in a peaceful belief. But if you do not have peace with God, you will not be able to have peace with others, no matter how much you would love to. So, with Christianity, there is an open door for us to touch the hearts of millions of Muslims all over the world." -Daniel Shayesteh

"Many times I cried, 'Allah, I want to kill Christians, I want to kill Jews.' We planned a lot of things, evil things for the Christian world, cruel things for the Jewish world. It is by the grace of God that I am here."

So begins the testimony of Daniel Shayesteh, formerly an Islamic terrorist and Iranian revolutionary; now a Christian evangelist.

"I was a famous boy," Shayesteh recalls. "By the age of 9, I was able to do Islamic rituals and recite the Quran."

Picked out from the 12 children of his father's two wives to do Islamic studies from his earliest years, Shayesteh's fame carried him to a position of power among Islamic extremists. With two others he founded Hezbollah, in its earliest days as the revolutionary army in Iran. The army overthrew Mohammed Reza Shah, the king of Iran, in the Islamic Revolution of 1979, and Shayesteh became a political leader helping to institute the rule of Sharia law.
It didn't take long, however, for Shayesteh and other revolutionaries to become dissatisfied with Ayatollah Khomeini, the man they had brought into power to be the country's "Supreme Leader." After Shayesteh's colleague, Abolhassan Beni Sadr, was elected president in 1980, tensions escalated, and in 1989 Khomeini used his influence with Hezbollah to form a military coup against the government with the intent of killing the president. President Sadr and others in his political camp were able to escape the country alive, but Shayesteh was not among them. He was captured and put in prison, which he describes as "a painful place, a place where you beg to die." Even as he waited in a cell on death row, expecting to be executed, God providentially stepped in.

"By the grace of Jesus, I escaped," he says. "Even though I didn't know Him, He had a plan for me." (Breaking Christian News) Read more here.

Our Grandmothers' Songs

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

BLESSED ASSURANCE

"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith." (Hebrews 10:21-22)

In these perilous times, when all that can be shaken is being shaken, let us return to the "faith of our fathers" and sing the hymns and songs of old.

May we each draw strength in our own time, as we "dig the wells of treasure" to draw upon the strength that carried our ancestors through their own perilous times. Amen.

Lyrics:

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me.

In her lifetime, Fanny Crosby was one of the best known women in the United States. To this day, the vast majority of American hymnals contain her work.

Fanny Crosby was born on March 24, 1820, Putnam County, New York; and died: February 12, 1915, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Purple Jellies Piling Up on Oregon Coast in Huge Numbers

ast week, the bulk of the Oregon coast was hit by a large number of Purple Sails - a kind of small jellyfish in a disc-like shape that's purple in color, until it dries out.

Now, however, the inundation has continued unabated and the little creatures are literally covering all of the Oregon coast. It is now hard to step on any part of a beach without stepping on them. Reports are coming in from Rockaway Beach, just north of Yachats, Lincoln City, Manzanita and elsewhere of indicate massive patches of them, sometimes 50 or more yards wide or long. Even the space between these chunks of purple critters have some amount of them.

They are also well known by the name velella velella, and sometimes called By-the-Wind-Sailors.

Charlie Plybon, a Newport resident and a manager at the Oregon chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, first talked to Oregon Coast Beach Connection about them last week, and he noticed the velella velella were also accompanied by their predators: tiny purple snails called a Violet Snail.

"They haven't really stopped coming in," Plybon said. "They've been coming in and coming in since I talked to you last. The west winds keep washing them up."

West winds first brought them in in great numbers, and those westerly winds have not let up. So these creatures - and other finds - keep washing in. Now, now they are piling up on each other.
