"Praying for All in Authority"

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

"And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles." (Zechariah 14:16)

> > > Introducing our new, "streamlined" format -- With so much critical news now needing our prayerful attention, this week we will introduce a new format:

On alternate days, we will feature either "tracking the virus" or "tracking ISIS" - but not both!

Meanwhile, the most important news about Ebola/ISIS will continue to be featured in the Daily Brief section, for prayer.Thank you!

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:11)

The Daily Brief

1. Shipment of medical supplies to fight Ebola in Sierra Leone reportedly delayed for weeks - Fox News

According to The New York Times the shipment of hospital linens, protective suits, face masks, and other items arrived in the port of Freetown Aug. 9, but has still not been cleared by government officials.

- Father, we pray these medical supplies would be released immediately to those who are on the front lines fighting this disease, In Jesus Name.

- "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. (Joshua 10:25)

2. Kurds make last stand in Syrian city - Fox News

UN warns of looming ISIS 'massacre'

A UN official warned of pending "humanitarian tragedies" and pleaded desperately with the world to intervene on behalf of Kurds trapped in a Syrian city near the Turkish border, as Islamic State fighters stood on the brink of taking it. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said the city was about to fall.

. . . "The world has seen with its own eyes the images of what happens when a city in Syria or in Iraq is overtaken by the terrorist group called ISIS or Da'esh: massacres, humanitarian tragedies, rapes, horrific violence," De Mistura said. "The international community cannot sustain another city falling under ISIS. . . "We need to act now."

The capture of Kobani would give ISIS control of a large swath of land bordering Turkey and eliminate a vital pocket of Kurdish resistance. It would also provide a link between the group's territory near the ancient Syrian city of Aleppo and its largest operations base at Raqqa in northeastern Syria.(Read more)

- Lord God Almighty, tonight we lift up fervent prayer before Your Throne of Grace, as we see 50,000 people in Kobani surrounded by ISIS forces. All inside have no hope, except the prayers of the saints. Lord, we join our forces together tonight and we ask for Your divine protection over these trapped people.

Surround them, Lord, with Your chariots of FIRE and strike terror into the hearts of ISIS soldiers as they behold Your fury! We ask You to LOOSE a BAND of ANGELIC FORCES to defend and to protect these Kurdish people. Help them, dear Lord, to find a way of ESCAPE from this imminent danger to their lives. We ask all of this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "The LORD is a man of WAR." (Exodus 15:3)

3. Islamic State 'adapting to US-led air strikes' - BBC

Nearly two months on since the US began air strikes against Islamic State (IS) positions in northern Iraq, there are signs that the militants are adapting to the new reality. Witnesses and tribal sources in IS-controlled areas have told Reuters news agency of a drop in the number of militant checkpoints and fighters using mobile phones less, apparently to avoid being targeted by air raids.

Reuters also reported that militants have been seen to ditch conspicuous convoys of armoured vehicles in favour of motorcycles. Analysts say that IS militants are known for their light mobility, enabling them to withdraw and regroup quicker than regular army troops.

"It's a well-tried and tested formula," said defence and security expert Paul Gibson, a retired British Army brigadier. "Once [militants] start facing air strikes, the first thing they'll do is to reduce the targets available to the coalition forces. They will disperse and reduce their communications by mobile and radio so their electronic signature is reduced." (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask You, our Commander in Chief, to release new strategies to our own military forces as they continue to work to defeat ISIS. May the enemy be confounded as we go forward in this battle. In Jesus' name, we ask this prayer, amen.

- "But this is what the LORD says: "Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save." (Isaiah 49:25)

4. Islam is at War with the Oldest Religions - Israel National News

Up to today, throughout the Fertile Crescent, despite the many wars in the region, one could find communities that bore witness to the extraordinary antiquity of the areas religious traditions. Until the arrival of the Islamic State. Like the Jews, who fled decades ago, Christians are now also all gone. A year ago there were 60,000 Christians in Mosul. Today there is only a handful.

- Father, we pray for our Christian brothers and sisters all around the world. Thank You that You always have a remnant of people.

- 14)and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away - 18) The Lord said, Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, (1 Kings 19:14,18)

5. Conservatives on SCOTUS Homosexual Deviant Decision: Judicial Activism All Around - CNSNews.com

The Supreme Court's decision to let rulings by lower court judges stand that redefine marriage is both tragic and indefensible," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in a statement. "By refusing to rule if the States can define marriage, the Supreme Court is abdicating its duty to uphold the Constitution.

"The fact that the Supreme Court Justices, without providing any explanation whatsoever, have permitted lower courts to strike down so many state marriage laws is astonishing," Cruz said.

"This is judicial activism at its worst," he said. "The Constitution entrusts state legislatures, elected by the People, to define marriage consistent with the values and mores of their citizens.

"Unelected judges should not be imposing their policy preferences to subvert the considered judgments of democratically elected legislatures," Cruz said. (Read more)

- Father God, We come into your courts of judgement and we stand in the gap and repent for this immoral decision by our Supreme Court. Forgive them and forgive us. We are guilty. But we cry out to You Lord of the universe for mercy. Do not put their sin upon Your people.

- Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they played the harlot after other gods and bowed themselves down to them. They turned aside quickly from the way in which their fathers had walked in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do as their fathers. (Judges 2:17)

6. Sin,
Homosexual Deviant Behavior, and Fascism - Redstate

At least in the beginning, we are seeking public desensitization and nothing more. We do not need and cannot expect a full "appreciation" or "understanding" of homosexuality from the average American. You can forget about trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing, with a shrug of their shoulders, then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won.

- Father, may we stay alert and active in our faith to guard against deception and desensitization.

- Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. (Matthew 24:42)

7. BREAKING! Fire crews lose contact with air tanker fighting Yosemite blaze - Fox News

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. - California fire officials say they have lost contact with an air tanker fighting a wildfire near Yosemite National Park.

CalFire spokesman Daniel Berlant said Tuesday that emergency personnel were headed to the last known location of the tanker. In a telephone interview with The Associated Press, he said the status of the aircraft and its pilot, the only crew member, have not been determined. (Read more)

- Lord, we lift up a prayer that this firefighter be found.

- "For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open." (Mark 4:22)

8. US military personnel on Ebola mission to handle blood samples - Fox News

The U.S. military mission to combat Ebola in West Africa is facing questions about the serious health risks American troops will encounter in heading to the epicenter of the deadly outbreak.

According to officials, a small group of trained military medical technicians on the ground will not be required to make direct contact with patients infected with the Ebola virus. However, they will have to handle infected blood samples, which Pentagon officials acknowledged Tuesday could be just as dangerous, if not more.

Already, three mobile-testing labs, staffed by three or four technicians each, have been deployed in Liberia as part of Operation United Assistance, the U.S. military's effort to combat the Ebola virus. Four more labs have been requested.

Pentagon officials say the servicemembers on these small teams are the only individuals who will be intentionally handling any raw material that could be infected. (Read more)

- Father God, only You can offer protection for these brave soldiers. We ask that they be redeployed to another, safer assignment and that only skilled medical staff members be allowed to handle these deadly blood samples. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (John 14:14 NIV)

9. Meteor shower, Uranus opposition, lunar eclipse to occur tonight - WantChinatimes

Tonight will be a significant one for celestial events, with a total lunar eclipse, a meteor shower and the brightening of a planet all expected on Oct. 8, according to the Taipei Astronomical Museum. The Draconid meteor shower - which radiates from the constellation Draco in the northern sky - will reach its peak late on the night of Oct. 8, producing up to 10 shooting stars per hour, the museum said.

- Father, give us understanding in watching the heavens to know Your end time clock.

- Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. (Isaiah 40:26)

2. Netanyahu: US criticism of Israeli settlements 'against the American values' - Fox News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday criticized the White House's rebuke of his country's settlement construction as "against American values," but praised President Obama's decision to launch airstrikes against the Islamic State militant group in Iraq and Syria.

Israel came under fire last week after a Jerusalem city official signed the final go-ahead for construction of a new housing development in east Jerusalem. Israel says east Jerusalem is part of its capital and considers Jewish housing developments there to be neighborhoods of the city, but the international community, including the U.S., does not recognize Israel's annexation of the area and considers construction there to be illegitimate settlement activity.

In a striking public rebuke last week, the Obama administration warned Israel that the new project would distance Israel from "even its closest allies" and raise questions about its commitment to seeking peace with Palestinians. Netanyahu, in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation," called the administration's condemnation of the project "baffling." "It's against the American values. And it doesn't bode well for peace," he said. "The idea that we'd have this ethnic purification as a condition for peace, I think it's anti-peace." (Read more)

3. Netanyahu on Hezbollah attack: We've proved that we will retaliate for any strike against us - Jerusalem Post

PM Netanyahu opened up the cabinet meeting Tuesday on the budget by addressing the incident along the northern border, and thanking the soldiers there for foiling an attack.

"We proved that we respond with force against any attempt to attack us, whether it is from the South, the North, or any other sector," Netanyahu said. "We are witness to threats accumulating around us, threats of which the whole world is now aware, and is even dealing with some of them."

These threats, he said, necessitate investing massively in security, as well as investing heavily in communities along the confrontation borders. (Read more)

4. Parchin blast may be Iran's nuclear smoking gun - Ynet News

The Parchin facility is a military camp located about 15 kilometers (9.5 miles) east of Tehran, where research is conducted on the production of explosives and missile warheads, as well as activities of the "nuclear weapon group."

The latter serves as one of the components of the military nuclear program whose goal is to create the explosion mechanisms and the nuclear detonator facility itself - an experimental facility for an aerial bomb or a missile warhead test.

The magnitude of the explosion which left two people dead and several wounded, according to Iranian reports, the flash and the huge blast felt many kilometers away leave no room for doubt that this is a facility related to the nuclear program.

The Parchin area is under constant supervision of optic and electromagnetic visual spy satellites - including Israeli supervision. The Americans also have ways to collect air samples from the explosion area through nitrogenous and unmanned aerial vehicles, so the West will know within several days what caused the explosion and if any radioactive materials were used. 5. Kurds protest against Turkey as IS advances on Kobane - BBC

Kurds across Turkey have vented their anger at the government's lack of military support for the defenders of the Syrian border town of Kobane being attacked by Islamic State militants. Police used tear gas and water cannon as unrest spread to at least six cities. One protester has been killed.

Turkish troops and tanks have lined the border but have not crossed into Syria. Fresh US-led air strikes have tried to repel IS, but Turkey's president warned Kobane was "about to fall".

At least 400 people have died in three weeks of fighting for Kobane, monitors say, and 160,000 Syrians have fled. If IS captures Kobane, its jihadists will control a long stretch of the Syrian-Turkish border. (Read more)

P.M. Netanyahu Hosts Bible Study in His Home

Netanyahu Bible Study Highlights Israel's Right to the Land

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sundayhosted his sixth open Bible study at the official Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem since reestablishing the practice two years ago. The event was attended by dozens of leading rabbis and academics, many of them members of Knesset and the current government.

One of those participating in the round-table discussion was Education Minister Shai Peron, who spoke on the topic of why the Bible begins with the story of creation, rather than jumping straight into God's relationship with and commandments to the Nation of Israel.
Peron cited the famous 11th century Jewish sage Rashi, who taught that the Bible begins with the story of creation to demonstrate that the whole world belongs to God, and He gives this land or that to whom He will.

Netanyahu noted that there are many in the world today who do not accept Israel's divine appointment to this particular land, and who seek to defame the Jewish people and deny their birthright.

The prime minister said that while these open Bible studies have only been held a handful of times, the Word of God is studied in his home at least once a week. Netanyahu's younger son, Avner, won the National Bible Quiz for Youth in 2010, and, according to the prime minister, often leads their home sessions.

Ebola, your responsibility, our ministry work

(Part 2)

The president Monday issued a statement on Ebola: "As I've said from the start of this outbreak, I consider this a top national security priority." This, after he claimed on September 16 that chances of an outbreak of Ebola in the US were "extremely low" and "unlikely." He then listed a number of procedures taken by the government to prevent the spread of Ebola. Trouble is, for anyone who has travelled internationally, these procedures appear routine, as the "president" confirmed, "All passengers leaving affected countries are screened for Ebola symptoms. Such screenings involve a travel health questionnaire, visual assessment for potential illness..." The US government can't protect you.

On August 7, Beth Bell, a director at the Centers for Disease Control told CNBC that it wasn't likely that people exposed to Ebola in West Africa will arrive in the US. On September 16, the "president" said, "I want the American people to know that our experts, here at the CDC and across our government, agree that the chances of an Ebola outbreak here in the United States are extremely low... We've been taking the necessary precautions, including working with countries in West Africa to increase screening at airports so that someone with the virus doesn't get on a plane for the United States. In the unlikely event that someone with Ebola does reach our shores, we've taken new measures so that we're prepared here at home."

But arrive one did in Dallas and after exposing school children, being refused care at a hospital, and vomiting in the streets--exposing citizens to tremendous risk. This, after, what the "president" says the government taking the necessary precautions--the business as usual of visual assessments and filling out forms. Our ministry partner in West Africa, William Agbeti, explains why the "president's" efforts are in vain: "As more and more people get infected with ebola in West Africa, where there seems to be no hope in its effective containment and treatment by government institutions, some, if not all, with opportunity to travel to the US and other countries will do so immediately in the hope that their lives will be saved."

We, as citizens, cannot count on a delusional "president" and his prideful band of appointees to do what is right to protect ourselves and our families from risk of Ebola or any other disease. He has purposely allowed tens of thousands of children to cross our borders illegally and has mainstreamed many of the diseased into public schools. You must take responsibility for your own survival and protection. Government is not God. As written in Joel 2:32 and repeated often in the Bible, "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered." The government can make no such warranty. Take responsibility for your own life and the lives of your family in all things. The next Daily Jot will give examples of how.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Statement on VA Firings

Statement on VA Firings

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn released the following statement in response to the termination of four senior executives at the VA.

"Today the VA announced the firing of four senior executives that were responsible for patient neglect, the falsification of records, and obstructing VA investigators as they attempted to get to the bottom of the problems plaguing the VA. In August, legislation that I cosponsored granted the Secretary of the VA with new authorities to hold individuals accountable for patient neglect and mismanagement. These firings are the first time that these new tools have been exercised and are an encouraging indicator that new VA Secretary Robert McDonald is serious about changing the culture in the VA and rebuilding veteran trust, a process that must start with removing bad actors that don't put our veterans first. Although these actions are a step in the right direction, there are many more individuals who presided over the widespread negligence and mismanagement at the VA. They cannot be trusted with caring for our veterans and must be held accountable as well."

FRC Statement on 9th Circuit Rulings

Supreme Court Opens Door to Lawless 9th Circuit Ruling

October 07, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement in response to a ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to redefine marriage in Idaho and Nevada:

"This is the kind of lawlessness that the Supreme Court left in place yesterday. Millions of voters who support natural marriage are now left to fend for themselves against out-of-control judges who seem quite content substituting their own view for that of the law and those elected to make it. "Judge Reinhardt even went so far as to say the consequences of redefining marriage isn't 'worthy of a response.' He may be eager to shut down the debate over marriage but we, along with millions of other Americans, will continue to speak the truth about marriage.

A steady stream of rulings from rogue lower court judges can' t change the fact that time is not on the side of advocates of marriage redefinition. Deep down, the Left knows it needed the Supreme Court to force same-sex marriage on America before more Americans saw the fallout for people like Aaron and Melissa Klein, or sportscasters like Craig James or CEOs like Brandon Eich. Ask them if same-sex marriage is just about two people who love each other. For them, it was about losing their business, their livelihood, and their freedom. As more and more people lose their livelihoods because they refuse to not just tolerate but celebrate same-sex marriage, Americans will see the true goal, which is to impose a new sexual orthodoxy from which no dissent will be tolerated," concluded .

Forbes' Statement on "Silencing of the Church"

Not what the Founding Fathers intended . . .

Friend - The separation of church and state was never intended to morph into the silencing of church and state. Our country was founded on freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. I remain committed to preserving every American's constitutionally protected right to live out their faith; whether that is how they run their business, how they raise their children, or what healthcare plan they choose.

Family Values and Religious Liberties

Please go here to read a lengthy list of pieces of legislation that Congressman J.Randy Forbes has either introduced or supported in this Session of Congress -- all of which support family values and religious liberties.
We praise the LORD for men like Congressman Forbes and many others who are working to pass these bills in Congress this year. Thank You, Lord!

SCOTUS Same-Sex "Marriage" Ruling --

SCOTUS Same-Sex "Marriage" Ruling --

What does God say??

Genesis 18:20

And the LORD said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave . . ."

2 Peter 2:6

. . . and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter;

Jude 1:6-7

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

2nd BLOOD MOON IS TONIGHT!

Tonight's Blood Moon-Lunar Eclipse: the Second in the 2014-2015 "Tetrad" of Four

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." -Luke 25-28

In the early morning hours before sunrise on October 8th, there will be another lunar eclipse in the northern hemisphere; turning the full moon to "blood"-red in color as it passes through the shadow of Earth.

The total eclipse will last about an hour, with a partial eclipse going in and coming out-each taking about an hour-so the entire process of the lunar eclipse will last about 3 1/3 hours.

Who will see it?

That all depends on where you are!

According to an EarthSky.org report:

North and South America, the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand, Australia and eastern Asia are in a good position worldwide to watch the total eclipse of the moon on October 8. If you live in the Americas or Hawaii, the total eclipse happens before sunrise October 8. In the world's eastern hemisphere, the total eclipse happens after sunset October 8.

For those who enjoy exploring the various folklore names of the various moons, October 8th's full moon is also called a "Hunter's Moon," as it occurs after the Harvest Moon.

This eclipse of the Hunter's Moon, which produces a Blood Moon, is the second in the "Blood Moon Tetrad"-four blood moons (lunar eclipses) occurring exactly 6 months apart.

What does it mean? Certainly the Bible talks about signs in the heavens and on Earth, and no doubt many have thought over thousands of years that "surely Jesus' return must be soon!" following various events in the sky and on the ground.

And it very well may be soon . . . or not quite as soon as we might think. But either way the Bible clearly calls every Believer to BE READY.

To "be dressed in readiness and keep your lamps lit." (Luke 12:35 NASB)

The Good News Corner:

Fox News Health Editor Dr. Manny Alvarez Praises Christian Missions in Frontline of Ebola Fight

"I, for one, am so proud of my Christian faith... Let's not lose sight of [the Christians in Africa fighting Ebola] from day one, and who will continue to be there long after Ebola is not the worst crisis facing the region." -Dr. Manny Alvarez

Dr. Manny Alvarez, formerly a Fox News medical contributor and now the company's Senior Managing Editor for Health, recently posted a commentary praising Christian missions such as Samaritan's Purse, Medicus Christi, SIM USA and Catholic Charities, for their ongoing fight against Ebola and other diseases ravaging the African continent.

Said Alvarez: "Volunteers for these missions and countless others have been risking their own health and safety because God has called them to use their skills and talents to help others... for decades [they've been] willing to step up and help out when others turn a blind eye.

"Why are we not supporting these people and acknowledging their hard work?" asked Alvarez.

The doctor goes on to chastise political commentator Ann Coulter, who recently accused Dr. Kent Brantly, the American missionary doctor who contracted Ebola while serving in Africa, as being "narcissistic" for wanting to help those suffering from the disease, claiming Christians have no choice but to "go on mission trips to disease-ridden cesspools" because they are reportedly tired of fighting a "culture war" in the US.

Alvarez called Coulter's remarks ignorant, insensitive and inflammatory, but had to agree that America isn't making it easy for Christians to serve on their own turf these days, noting that US schools have been purging Christian books from their classrooms, punishing students for saying "God bless you," removing religious symbols from athletes' uniforms, and omitting God from the Pledge of Allegiance.

"And for what?" asked Alvarez. "Since when is it a bad thing to show your faith? I, for one, am so proud to be a Christian. And I don't begrudge any American who takes pride in his or her faith, living a life of love and compassion for others."

"Let's not lose sight of who has been [in Africa fighting Ebola] from day one," concluded Alvarez, "and who will continue to be there long after Ebola is not the worst crisis facing the region."

Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders

Total lunar eclipse on Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Wednesday's total lunar eclipse observers might also be able to see an extremely rare cosmic sight - selenelion - an effect when the total eclipse of the moon and the rising sun can be seen simultaneously, something celestial geometry says cannot happen.

The second total lunar lunar eclipse of 2014 and 2015 lunar-eclipse tetrad will occur on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, and will be visible from the Pacific Ocean and regions immediately bordering it. As the Moon passes completely through the Earth's dark shadow, or umbra, it will gradually get darker and then take on a rusty or blood red color.
This eclipse will be difficult to view for most of the planet as it mainly takes place over the Pacific Ocean. As such, the eclipse will only be visible in its entirety from parts of eastern Australia, New Zealand, eastern Asia, most of Japan, Hawaiian Islands, and the western part of North America. Slooh will have strategic sites in these locations allowing the world to view the eclipse live on Slooh.com. In fact, there will be several live broadcasts covering Wednesday's event. They are listed at the end of the article.
Selenelion - extremely rare cosmic sight

An extremely rare cosmic sight will accompany the total lunar eclipse on October 8th. For a short window of roughly 2 to 9 minutes observers will have a chance to see both total eclipse of the moon and the rising sun, simultaneously.

Space.com explains:

"And indeed, during a lunar eclipse, the sun and moon are exactly 180 degrees apart in the sky. In a perfect alignment like this (called a "syzygy"), such an observation would seem impossible.

But thanks to Earth's atmosphere, the images of both the sun and moon are apparently lifted above the horizon by atmospheric refraction. This allows people on Earth to see the sun for several extra minutes before it actually has risen and the moon for several extra minutes after it has actually set.

As a consequence of this atmospheric trick, for many localities east of the Mississippi River, watchers will have a chance to observe this unusual sight firsthand. Weather permitting, you could have a short window of roughly 2 to 9 minutes (depending on your location) with the possibility of simultaneously seeing the sun rising in the east while the eclipsed full moon is setting in the west." (Source: Space.com) Go here to read the timing of this eclipse.

Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
