"Praying for All in Authority"

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

(Exodus 15:2)
Please note our new, "streamlined edition" of the Brief, to be published the next two weeks. This will allow our staff time to attend the National Prayer Assembly in Washington, D.C. ". . . the glory of the LORD filled the temple. . ." (2 Chronicles 5:14)
The Daily Brief

1. Expect Obama to Compromise With Iran - Newsmax

So keen is President Obama on a deal with Iran, he cannot say "no." The fact that zero tolerance for an Iran with nuclear weapons is no longer a negotiating point is telling. The fact that Iran's missile force site is not on the agenda suggests yet another concession.

- Father, we speak wisdom to the negotiations with Iran. Strengthen our leaders to hold Iran accountable for their actions. We pray You reveal any deceptions on the part of Iran. Give our leaders keen insight during these negotiations.

- Lying lips [are] abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly [are] his delight. (Proverbs 12:22)

2. "Vote Flipping" Shows Up In Early Voting In Illinois And Maryland, 2014 Voter Fraud Looms?- Inquisitr

"Vote flipping" is the phrase given when a vote flips from one candidate or party selected to the other. In these cases, the Republican option flipped to the Democratic one. The cause of the issue of Republican votes turning blue is said to be a "calibration issue", but Illinois is not the only state experiencing these early voting issues. According to WBALTV, complaints of "vote flipping" is plaguing several counties in Maryland.

- Father, we pray that any direct tampering with these voting machines will be revealed, and the persons will be held accountable. May all such plans of deception stop, in Jesus Name. We pray for a honest election, in Jesus Name.

- Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7-8)

3. Gohmert: If Obama orders amnesty, cut off funds- WND

New reporting shows the Obama administration released illegal aliens accused of violent crimes, including murder, despite various officials repeatedly insisting only those with very minor infractions were set free while they waited for deportation or for their cases to be resolved in court, and Rep. Louie Gohmert says it's time for President Obama to tell the truth and protect Americans. The congressman is also seething over reports from earlier this week that the administration seems to be preparing to legalize a massive number of people in the U.S. unlawfully. If Obama issues an executive order to grant amnesty to millions of illegals, Gohmert says it's time for Congress to cut off funds.

Obama administration officials, ranging from former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton to former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, assured lawmakers, reporters and the public that the 2,200 illegal aliens released from detention last year either had no other crimes on their records or the crimes were extremely minor.

On Thursday, USA Today reported records showed the Obama administration released illegal aliens accused of kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking and even homicide.

- Heavenly Father, we ask that this protest and suggestion made by Rep. Louie Gohmert be heard and acted upon where he says it's time for President Obama to tell the truth and protect Americans. Illegal immigrants who have committed serious crimes are being released into the streets of the US. Have mercy, Father, and rise up against these actions, causing the funding to cease. We pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

-"Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil."(1 Thessalonians 5:21-22)

4. NJ nurse quarantined under Ebola watch cleared by CDC to go home - Fox News

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's administration on Monday said a health care worker quarantined under an Ebola watch after she returned from Sierra Leone -- and who threatened a lawsuit -- has been cleared to go home. The state Department of Health said the patient, Kaci Hickox, has been symptom-free for 24 hours, and "is being discharged" after being evaluated in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. - Oh, Lord, please put a watch on our country and the fickle policies of our government leaders. In the name of Jesus, we bind up unwise pressure on officials to comply with political correctness when it applies to the endangering of the public to contagious diseases. Father, we look to You for the protection You have given Your children in times past from plagues on the earth. We ask, that in Your mercy, You would put an end to this disease. Thank You, Lord.

-"And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee." (Exodus 23:25)

5. Girl, 14, wounded in Washington state school shooting dies - Fox News

A 14-year-old girl shot by a student gunman at a Washington state high school Friday has died, hospital officials said late Sunday. Officials at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett identified the victim as Gia Soriano, a freshman at Marysville-Pilchuk High School, about 30 miles north of Seattle. Her death brings the total number of victims from Friday's shooting to three, including gunman Jaylen Fryberg. The other victim was identified Monday as 14 year old Zoe R. Galasso, by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's office. Galasso lived in Marysville and was a student at the school.

- How sad, Lord, that tragic deaths continue in our country's schools. Lord, please heal the wounds this tragedy has left in the hearts of the young people. They should not have to deal with this kind of thing at their age. Father, we humble ourselves before You and ask that You would cleanse our schools of this violence. We long for the day, Dear Lord, when Your Presence will be welcomed in our schools.

-"Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise."(Isaiah 60:18)

6. North Dakota argues 'right-to-life' measure intent - AP

...The single-sentence measure would be the nation's first to amend a state constitution and require the "inalienable right to life" at "any stage of development." Supporters say it's meant to protect the state's current abortion laws from judicial activism. Those opposed believe the intent is to outlaw abortion altogether and say the vague wording could affect birth control, end-of-life care plans and in vitro fertilization.

-Thank You, Lord, for this good report! In the name of Jesus, we decree and declare that this measure is surrounded with divine favor to be voted into the state's Constitution and that activist courts will not alter the will of the people as they have done so many times. We pray for other states to be able to circumvent higher courts who ignore the will of the electorate and disrespect life in the womb.

-"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."(1 Corinthians 1:10)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there are no plans to make changes in the status quo on the Temple Mount.

Netanyahu made the statement on Monday during a meeting to discuss the security situation in Jerusalem. 3. US 'unequivocally opposed' to E. Jerusalem construction -Times of Israel

WASHINGTON - Israel's continued building across the Green Line is "incompatible with their stated desire to live in a peaceful society," State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Monday, in response to reports that Israel would continue to advance building plans in controversial Jerusalem neighborhoods.

Psaki said that while the US had yet to hear an "official announcement" that plans to build in East Jerusalem would go forward, the US is "certainly deeply concerned" by the reports.

Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the topic more broadly during a phone call to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the weekend, Psaki said, and added that the embassy was currently "engaging at the highest level . . . to get more information" regarding Israeli plans in the city.

4. Herzog: 'No reason to leave Netanyahu in power' -Times of Israel

In a fiery speech at the start of the Knesset winter session on Monday, opposition leader Isaac Herzog called on central, left- and right-wing parties to topple Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to achieve security, secure a peace deal with the Palestinians, resolve the economic crisis, and for single-handedly harming Israel's diplomatic ties with the United States.

"There is no peace, no security, no economy, no housing, no income, no hope. There is no reason to leave Netanyahu in power," Herzog said.

With regard to Netanyahu's chilly ties with the US, Herzog charged: "You're the man personally responsible for the destruction of relations with the US. You are the man who hurt and insulted President Obama and his administration repeatedly."

5. As Knesset session starts, Speaker vows Jerusalem won't be 'cannon fodder -Times of Israel

As the Knesset's winter session commenced on Monday afternoon, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein pledged that the violence in East Jerusalem would be dealt with harshly, as President Reuven Rivlin called on the Knesset members to actively combat racism.

Opening the session, Edelstein addressed the "difficult and complex summer," in reference to the 50-day summer conflict, during which "the best of our boys paid with their lives." With regard to the growing tension in East Jerusalem, Edelstein declared: "Ladies and gentlemen, Jerusalem will not become cannon fodder," and the neighborhoods on its edge "won't become the Gaza border towns."

6. Netanyahu promises to keep building in Jerusalem -Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Monday's opening of the Knesset winter session defended Israel's right to build in Jerusalem and criticized the Palestinians for making unreasonable demands for peace.

As several MKs from Arab and left-wing parties interrupted his speech, Netanyahu plowed ahead, declaring that Israel has the same right to build in Jerusalem as other nations do in their own capital cities, and that there was a wide consensus in Israel to continue building throughout the city, as every government has done since Israel captured east Jerusalem in the 1967 war.

"There is wide agreement among the public that Israel has the full right to build the Jewish neighborhoods of Jerusalem," the prime minister said. "Every Israeli government in the last 50 years did that, and it is also clear to the Palestinians that those places will stay under Israeli control in any mutual agreement."

"The French build in Paris, the English build in London, the Israelis build in Jerusalem. Should we tell Jews not to live in Jerusalem because it will stir things up?" Netanyahu asked.

7. Livni defends Jews' rights in Silwan, but urges caution -Times of Israel

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni said Monday that while Jewish residents have the right to live anywhere in Jerusalem, including the predominantly Arab neighborhood of Silwan, the delicate situation calls for particular caution and restraint.

Regarding Jews moving into Silwan, which has been condemned by local Arab residents, Livni said: "I will defend the right" of Israelis and Jews to live anywhere in Jerusalem, but added Knesset members have the responsibility not to fan the flames in the "explosive" area.

CNN Poll: prophetic or pathetic?

A recent poll by CNN indicates that 68% of Americans are angry about the direction of their country and some 53% are scared. Americans are angry with their elected officials. CNN says that 53% are scared because of the Islamic State and ebola. I remember a time in America when people were angry with their elected officials, they did something about it at the ballot box. I also remember a time in America when Americans were afraid of little or nothing. If something went wrong, we fixed it. If there was a threat, we addressed it. But 53% say they are scared. This is shocking. C'mon Americans, really? The CNN poll would like the world to believe that we are quivering over here in our bunkers.

When people move away from God, that is when fear can take root. While roughly 80% of Americans call themselves "Christians," we know that the condition of our nation--from the elected officials to the entertainment to the immorality we tolerate--is sorely lacking in morality. Otherwise we would not be faced with the challenges before us. Psalm 23:4 says, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." For as in Romans 8:31, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." What brings fear is if God is not with you.

George Washington, in his farewell speech of September 1796 said, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. . . . And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

Washington well knew that the pillars upholding our nation would collapse in the absence of God. Americans have a right to be angry. What they chose as leaders over the past decade has failed them with lies and deception. But as 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." The CNN poll points out the pathetic nature of a godless society. But we are a prophetic people--"a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." It is time to rise up, for faith without works is dead. The choice is prophetic or pathetic. Go do the right thing.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
