The Daily Brief - Thursday, September 3, 2009

"Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground. Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving. Sing praises on the harp to our God." (Psalms 147:5 -7)

The Daily Brief

1. 50,000 Muslims to Pray at Capitol on September 25 - Intercessors for America

On Capitol Hill 50,000 believers in the Greatness of Allah praying for the greater good of all people. The "Athan" will be chanted on Capitol Hill, echoing off of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and other great edifices that surround Capitol Hill.

- Lord, how we long for a day when Your power would be revealed against the false religions of this age. We bind the spirits behind this event and ask that You intervene to stop all curses that would be spoken against America.

- "Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.' Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench." (1 Kings 18:37,38)

2. Room in Capitol used for Muslim "Jummah" - Intercessors for America

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) pointed out that Muslim staffers on Capitol Hill meet for Friday "jummah" prayers in a room under the dome of the Capitol. Ellison stressed that Muslims can and should get involved in electoral politics. (Arab American News 8/1/08)

- Lord, we repent for allowing false gods access to our Capitol and White House. Lord, we ask for righteous leadership who will remove this access and lead America back to You. We erect a hedge of the Blood of Jesus around our nations' Capitol, and by Your Authority we declare that this territory belongs to the Living God and no other.

- "Thus Josiah removed all the abominations from all the country that belonged to the children of Israel - all his days they did not depart from following the Lord God of their fathers." (2 Chronicles 34:33)

3. Obama to Address Congress About Health Care - Fox News

President Obama will try to invigorate the push for health care reform during an address to a joint session of Congress next Wednesday, FOX News has learned. The decision comes as the White House is revamping its approach, following a rocky August recess. Advisers said earlier that the president will try to reframe the debate by rallying Democrats around the partisan bills that have already advanced. In doing so, Obama appears to be abandoning hopes for a bipartisan breakthrough on health care reform.

- Father, we pray that no arm-twisting or intimidation will sway any Senator or Representative from Your will on this issue. We ask that wisdom prevail against all tactics, and that the constituents of each member of Congress will rise up boldly and let their desires be made known.

- "Now, Lord, look on their threats and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your Word" (Acts 4:29)

4. a) As Support Plunges, Obama Seeks to Retool Agenda - NewsMax

After taking office with a two-thirds approval rating, B. Hussein Obama has watched his numbers steadily plunge past the 50 percent mark. Americans are turning off his approach to healthcare, the economy and increasingly, the conduct of the war in Afghanistan. Independent voters have abandoned him and now there are signs that moderates in his own Democratic Party are fleeing as well.

b) Congress approval rating hits 24-year low, Pew Poll finds - Washington Examiner

Congress' approval rating has fallen to its lowest level in more than two decades, according to a Pew poll that also shows Democrats fare better than Republicans among U.S. adults.

- Lord, as the poll numbers continue to fall, may the President and members of Congress respond by changing their hearts and attitudes, rather than becoming hard and trying to bulldoze their agenda through the legislature. We ask for a mighty visitation of Your Spirit to Capitol Hill!

- "And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting" (Acts 2:2)

5. Dems Target High Earners to Fund Health Plan - The Wall Street Journal

Senate Democrats are revisiting proposals to raise taxes on high-income people to help pay for an overhaul of the health-care system. The main proposal getting renewed attention is one by President Barack Obama that would limit the federal tax deductions for higher-income families for mortgage interest and other widely claimed purposes, said two senior Senate Democratic aides.

- Father, it seems that the Democrats (some of whom are quite wealthy), seem bent on removing the ability to gain wealth from all Americans. They appear to believe that money is evil in the hands of ordinary people, but ok in their hands. We ask that You move to stop any plan to raise taxes, and ask that conviction of the heart come to those in Congress.

- "The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered." (Proverbs 11:9)

6. BP Discovers Vast Oil Reserve in Gulf of Mexico -- AP

Nearly seven miles below the Gulf of Mexico, oil company BP has tapped into a vast pool of crude after digging the deepest oil well in the world. The Tiber Prospect is expected to rank among the largest petroleum discoveries in the United States, potentially producing half as much crude in a day as Alaska's famous North Slope oil field.

- Lord, we thank you for this good news! We ask that You enable the companies who drill into the depths for oil be given wisdom and skill to extract it to the benefit of America!

- "Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, and you will be satisfied by them; I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations." (Joel 2:19b)

7. White House Green Jobs Adviser Apologizes for Calling Republicans 'Assholes' - Fox News

Van Jones, the Hussein Obama administration's "green jobs" adviser, apologized Wednesday for calling Republicans "assholes," saying the comments were made before he joined the administration and "were clearly inappropriate."

- Father, as more and more "bad fruit" is revealed in the advisors of the President, we ask for Your protection against their plans. We ask that the American people will rise up and complain loudly enough to have these men and women removed from their posts in favor of more moderate, balanced people.

- "Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for the reward of his hands shall be given to him." (Isaiah 3:10)

Angry White House to Repackage Socialist Healthcare and Attack Again

After watching his popularity fall to record lows during the August recess of Congress, the man who occupies the Oval Office will no longer pursue the so- called "public option" in his socialist healthcare plan. But that doesn't mean that he will give up on the other socialist mandates he considers linchpins in his quest to remake America into a socialist nation. Stories abound in the state-influenced news media that the White House is angry that the people have so vehemently rejected socialism. Instead of retreating and reconsidering, however, Obama will repackage and begin selling socialism with more passion that ever before seen.

White House senior advisor David Axelrod told Politico that specifics will include many of the principles already presented, but aides did not want to telegraph the make- or-break demands. But, Politico says, Axelrod and others are making it plain that Obama will start dictating terms to Congress. Axelrod said: "His (Obama's) goal is to create the best possible situation for consumers, create competition and choice. We want to bring a measure of security to people who have health insurance today. We want to help those who don't have coverage today, because they can't afford it, get insurance they can afford. And we want to do it in a way that reduces the overall cost of the system as a whole."

This White House wants to do away with health insurance companies and replace them with government mandated options. That is the opposite of creating free market competition and choice. The White House wants people who don't have health insurance to have it--which means tax funded abortions, visits from government workers, and forced payments enforced by the IRS. And reducing costs is code for rationing healthcare and employing government committees to decide who lives and dies. Jesus warns us in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." This so called healthcare reform is unconstitutional and it will take away your God-given rights.

These wicked politicians quote the parable of the king in Matthew 25 to justify their socialism. Jesus said, "I was hungry and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." The people asked when they did these things. And Jesus replied: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

But Jesus was speaking to God's people, not the Roman government. In the church giving freely there is blessing. In the government mandating, there is bondage. In this fight, you must choose blessing over bondage and resist with aggressive passion.

Terror Update #1

Organized Crime in Pakistan Feeds Taliban

Taliban fighters have long used this city of 17 million as a place to regroup, smuggle weapons and even work seasonal jobs. But recently they have discovered another way to make fast money: organized crime. The police here say the Taliban, working with criminal groups, are using Mafia-style networks to kidnap, rob banks and extort, generating millions of dollars for the militant insurgency in northwestern Pakistan. "There is overwhelming evidence that it's an organized policy," said Dost Ali Baloch, assistant inspector general of the Karachi police. Jihadi-linked crime has surfaced in other Pakistani cities, like Lahore. But Karachi, the central nervous system of Pakistan's economy, and home to its richest businessmen, is the hub. It has been free of the bombings that have tormented Pakistan's other major cities this year, and some officials believe that is the result of a calculated strategy. (New York Times)

Terror Update #2

US faces smaller, smarter enemy in Afghanistan

After three tours in Iraq, U.S. Marine Sgt. Andre Leon was used to brutal shootouts with enemy fighters and expected more of the same in Afghanistan. Instead, what he's seen so far are anonymous attacks in the form of mines and roadside bombings - the mark of what he calls a cowardly adversary. "I'm not impressed with them," Leon, 25, of Herndon, Va., said this past week from a Marines camp deep in the southern province of Helmand, where U.S. forces are challenging Taliban insurgents and their devastating use of IEDs, or homemade bombs. "I expected more of a stand-and- fight. All these guys do is IEDs." Marines on the front lines in southern Afghanistan say there's no question that the militants are just as deadly as the Iraqi insurgents they once fought in Iraq's Anbar Province. The Afghan enemy is proving to be a smaller, but smarter opponent, taking full advantage of the country's craggy and enveloping terrain in eluding and then striking at U.S troops. In interviews, Marines across Helmand said their new foes are not as religiously fanatic as the Syrian and Chechen militants they fought in Iraq and often tend to be hired for battle. U.S. commanders call them the "$10 Taliban." (AP)

Terror Update #3

Iran's nuclear program has military aspects, says IAEA

According to a new report from the International Atomic Energy Agency, there are military aspects to Iran's nuclear program. The report was released in advance of the annual conference of IAEA member countries which will convene in Vienna on September 14. The report notes past activity by Iran that could indicate research and experiments of a military nature. Among other details was an indication that a foreign scientific expert helped Iran in their efforts to develop a "metallic hemisphere," a reference to a nuclear bomb. Although the scientist was not identified in the report, Haaretz has learned that he is a Russian national. Other findings in the report include the existence of a computer containing blueprints suspected to pertain to calculations of the altitude from which a nuclear weapon should be dropped. After Iran had for years denied the existence of such a computer, and then argued that its contents were a fabrication, Tehran acknowledged its existence but claimed the drawings pertained to a two- stage missile. 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World

Covering RAMADAN in prayer - August 22 - September 20
During these 30 days when the people of Islam observe Ramadan, we encourage you to visit this site in order to view daily prayers. May we raise up the people of the Muslim world in prayer that they will come to salvation in Christ Jesus.

Prayer For Thursday, 3 September, Ramadan 2009
"Loving Muslims Through Prayer"

Pray for the Iraqi Tribes

A large percentage of Iraqi Arabs trace their ancestry back to one of several tribal confederations. Each of these groups is divided into tribes, clans, houses and extended families. There are possibly 20-30 confederations with over 100,000 people and possibly over 1,000 tribal organisations in the country.

Tribalism is central to Iraqi cultural identity. "Iraqi culture builds to a very large extent on tribal traditions. From a cultural point of view, you cannot understand Iraq without understanding the importance of tribalism."* Tribes are grouped into federations (qabila). the clan (fukhdh), the house (beit) and the extended family (khams). A khams consists of all male-born children who share the same great-great grandfather (five generations of men in a single family). The Bible tells us that people from every tribe and tongue will one day be before the throne of God (Rev. 5:9).
Prayer Starters:

- The pain and suffering of the Iraqi people is very great. Pray for healing from the pain and a positive rebirth of Iraqi society after years of bloodshed, privations and hopelessness. See the database of the following site: www.iraqbodycount.org/ .

- Pray for the heads of tribes, clans, houses and enlarged families. God wants whole confederations, tribes and clans to turn to His salvation. Pray that many would discover new life in Christ. True lasting change and hope will only be found in the Messiah. The tribal leaders should take their notions of service, leadership and humility from Jesus. Use the list on the web-site in your prayers.

- A very high percentage of Iraqi believers have had to flee the country. Iraq has become a very dangerous country for believers.

- Show your children some of the genealogies in the Bible so they can see how important tribes are to God. (Genesis 10, Matthew 1 for example)

Florida Governor Credits God With Answering Prayer for No Hurricanes
By Teresa Neumann
Breaking Christian News

(August 27, 2009)

(Israel)-As reported in Israel National News, Florida Governor Charlie Crist said his written prayers that were placed at the Western Wall (Kotel) in Israel have prevented hurricanes from striking the state the past two years.

According to the report, Crist, who is a Methodist, "told real estate agents that during a trade mission to Israel in 2007, he went to the Western Wall and placed a note that said, 'Dear [God], please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties. Charlie.'"

Last year, he reportedly wrote the same prayer on a second note that was placed for him by legislator Nan Rich when she traveled to the Holy Land and a third note was placed this year for him by a friend.

The report also states that Crist gives all thanks and glory to God for sparing his state from hurricanes.
