1. Five Myths of the Financial Crisis - Fox
Business Here are five myths you may have heard about the financial crisis -- and an explanation of what's really going on.
Myth #1: The U.S. government's Triple-A rating is in imminent danger.
Myth #2: Money-market funds are unsafe.
Myth #3: FDIC insurance is simply $100,000 a person.
Myth #4: Study after study has shown that people who try to time the market almost always fail. Unless you need to take money out of the markets right away, your best bet is just to hold on for the ride.
Myth #5: Short sellers are inherently evil. Short sellers provide an important balance in the system. The Wall Street Journal recently wrote that "short sellers act as 'safety valves.'
· Ask the Lord to be merciful in dealing with our economy and pray specifically about your own personal finances. Remember to continue your tithing. He, who is the author of all creativity and justice, knows best how to place your monies as well as our nation's.
· "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house, and prove Me now herewith: saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3:10)
2. Fed, Central Banks Cut Rates to Aid World Economy - Fox News
The Federal Reserve, acting in coordination with other global central banking authorities, cut a key U.S. interest rate by half a percentage point Wednesday to steady a teetering economy. The Fed reduced its key rate from 2 percent to 1.5 percent.
· Pray that this move by Secretary of Treasury Paulson is wise for the USA and not one that brings our markets in coordination with the global markets, removing our national finances from our sovereignty -- from our control and the Lord's -- to the global control of man. Continue to pray the Lord's blessings over your personal finances.

3. FBI Warns of Potential Terror Attacks on Public Buildings - MSNBC
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security today issued an analytical "note" to U.S. law-enforcement officials cautioning that al-Qaida terrorists have in the past expressed interest in attacking public buildings using a dozen suicide bombers each carrying 20 kilograms of explosives. "Al-Ayeeri believed attackers would be able to enter many publicly accessible buildings easily with little or no resistance from often poorly trained and lightly armed or unarmed security guards, and that an explosion from inside the building would be particularly effective."
· Lord, as we continue to pray for secret things to be revealed in the election, the campaigns, and the economy, we pray that these terrorist plots will be revealed and will come to nothing. We ask You to place a hedge of protection around our nation, our families, and everything that pertains to us.

4. Russia to test fire cruise missiles for first time since 1984 - TimesOnline
Russian Bear bombers will be involved in the live firing exercise. Russia began the most ambitious test of its strategic bomber fleet in almost a quarter of a century today. Up to 20 bombers are being sent into the air with full combat payloads to carry out live firing exercises of their cruise missiles. It is the largest display of Russian air power since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Officials said that the bomber runs would test Russia's readiness to deploy its nuclear deterrent. The week-long drill, part of a broader military exercise codenamed Stability-2008, takes place against the background of heightened tensions with the West after Russia's war with Georgia in August. "During these exercises, for the first time in many years, the crews of Tu-160 Blackjack and Tu-95MS Bear-H strategic bombers will fly missions carrying the maximum combat payload and fire all the cruise missiles on board," Air Force spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Drik told RIA-Novosti news agency.
· Ask the Lord to intervene in this exercise so that what the Russians are declaring publicly is the whole truth and not a cover for developing more military power. Intercede for the souls of the Russian people so that they may know salvation in Jesus Christ and not in government power -- that "serfdom thinking" that has pervaded the people for so many centuries. Pray that other nations will not be cowed by Russia's display of power.

5. Sources: Taliban Split With al Qaeda, Seek Peace - CNN
Taliban leaders are holding Saudi-brokered talks with the Afghan government to end the country's bloody conflict and are severing their ties with al Qaeda. The current round of talks, said to have been taken two years of intense behind-the-scenes negotiations to come to fruition, is anticipated to be the first step in a long process to secure a negotiated end to the conflict. The Afghan government believes the Taliban cannot be defeated militarily, and the Taliban believe that they can't win a war against the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan, the Saudi source said. Saudi sources say perceived Iranian expansionism is one of Saudi Arabia's biggest concerns. A second round of talks is scheduled to take place in two months, the Saudi source said.

Hamas will cease to recognize Mahmoud Abbas as Palestinian president after Jan. 8 and replace him with one of its own leaders, according to a resolution approved by the Islamic movement's legislators today.
2. Israel, Russia to upgrade strategic ties - Jerusalem Post
Israel and Russia will upgrade their strategic dialogue and use that forum to share intelligence assessments and discuss Russian arms sales to the region, a senior source in the Prime Minister's Office said Tuesday, following Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's meeting in the Kremlin with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.
3. Kadima and Labor edge closer to deal - Jerusalem Post
Official Kadima and Labor negotiating teams will meet formally for the first time in Tel Aviv on Friday in an effort to finalize a deal on a new governing coalition led by Kadima leader Tzipi Livni.
4. Hamas blames Jews for global crisis - Jerusalem Post
A Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip stated on Tuesday that the banking crisis rocking US and world financial markets was caused by "bad administrative and financial management and a bad banking system put into place and controlled by the Jewish lobby," AFP reported.
5. Tunnel smuggling booms in Gaza - USA Today
Gaza's smugglers are going legit: The owners of hundreds of tunnels running under the Gaza-Egypt border have registered with the Hamas authorities, signed pledges to pay workers' compensation and hooked up their underground operations to the local electricity network.

1. NBC's Brokaw Asks No Questions on Iraq, Immigration, Abortion or Same-Sex Marriage - CNS News
Neither Tom Brokaw of NBC News, who moderated Tuesday night's presidential debate, nor any of the townhall audience members Brokaw pre-selected to ask questions of the two presidential candidates asked a single question about immigration, abortion, same-sex marriage or the war in Iraq.
· Pray for the soul of Tom Brokaw, for his choice of questions shows a lack of knowledge of both the importance of the Scriptures and of the Lord. Evidently the social/Biblical issues that are important to the Lord are not part of Mr. Brokaw's thinking. Pray that the next moderator of the presidential debates will be led by the Holy Spirit to seek the candidates' views that please the Lord.
· "Seek good, and not evil, that you may live: and so the Lord, the God of Hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken." (Amos 5:14)
2. Illegal Obama donors: Middle Eastern Arabs - WorldNetDaily.com
Palestinian brothers inside the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip are listed in government election filings as having donated $29,521.54 to Sen. Barack Obama's campaign. Donations of this nature would violate election laws, including prohibitions on receiving contributions from foreigners and guidelines against accepting more than $2,300 from one individual during a single election, Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the Federal Election Commission, told WND in response to a query.
· Pray that this donor mess is clarified and corrected. We'd like to believe that Senator Obama and his campaign workers know the laws about political contributions, but such generosity smacks of control from a group of people who hate America and Israel. Pray for a mighty move of the Holy Spirit on the souls of the campaign workers. Ask the Lord to reveal all that is dishonest and hidden and to free Senator Obama from entanglements with those who declare death to America and Israel.
· "Therefore, now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God, and the Lord shall repent Him of the evil that He hath pronounced against you." (Jeremiah 26:13)
3. Supreme Court's Direction Hinges on Who Wins '08 Race - Washington Post
There were not many conspicuous tributes to the legacy of President Bush at last month's Republican National Convention, but there was at least one. It was a campaign button with the words "Thanks, W" across the top and photos of Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. beneath the letters. Conservative legal activists view the two men as remarkable successes in Bush's quest to move the court to the right, and that is part of the reason that, as the court begins its work anew today, public attention is focused less on the cases at hand than on the court's future. It is a future entirely dependent on whether Sen. John McCain or Sen. Barack Obama prevails in November.
· What a reason to pray for the Lord's wisdom to prevail in the 2008 election!! Since one candidate believes in abortion and same-sex marriage, both of which the Lord hates, believers in the Scriptures and love for the Lord must take heed! Pray that believers will not be seduced by past affiliations with any political party, but will instead vote according to the "conscience of the Lord."
· "The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them." (Proverbs 11:3)

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has raised about $3.3 million from contributors who did not list a home state or who designated their state with an abbreviation that did not match one of the 50 states or U.S. territories, according to records provided by the Federal Election Commission.
· Again, pray that this donor mess is clarified!

New U.S. Banking Powers: Prophetic Meaning
US Using New Banking Powers To Establish Prophetic New World Order
The United States is leading the world into a "new world order" where financial systems will be taken over by governments and coordinated by a central committee of the ruling elite. Using the cover of media catch phrases like "the worst financial crisis since the market crash of 1929," the Federal government and Congress has frightened Americans into relinquishing wide sweeping powers of private home ownership and financial independence to a powerful central figure in the government-the Treasury Secretary. The Treasury Secretary is now emboldened to create a one-world order economy without the approval or even the knowledge of the people whose tax money he will use.
Already the Treasury Secretary has authorized the Federal Reserve to enter the risky $99 billion a day commercial paper market and use taxpayer money to buy short term debt of companies-a step far outside the current mortgage crisis, but a clear example of the far-reaching power Congress bestowed upon a single, non-elected official by passing legislation that makes all banks and lending institutions "agents of the federal government." Treasury is using socialistic code words to justify the action, saying it is "necessary to prevent substantial disruptions to the financial markets and the economy." But the real aim is to seize precedent-setting control and authority over all financial transactions.
The next step is to bring world cooperation into control of all financial markets. Already, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands are participating in government-run bailouts or financial adjustments using taxpayer funds. President George W. Bush urged US-European cooperation and has announced a meeting in Washington "to make sure that response is coordinated." The President said, "We live in a globalized world. We want to make sure that we're effective at what we do. Once we made the decision that there is a role for the federal government to move to stabilize the markets we want to make sure that all of us move in the best coordinated way as possible."
Bloomberg reports that French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who met with European leaders in Paris on October 4th, called for a global summit to implement "a real and complete reform of the international financial system." Sarkozy said, "We want a new world to come out of this." The world is at the very least preparing a type and shadow of the one world system used by the antichrist as prophesied in Revelation 13:16-17: "And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Who would have thought that America would lead us there?
