1. RICE ANNOUNCES REDUCED REMIT FOR ANNAPOLIS CONFERENCE

The US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice informed prime minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem Sunday, Nov. 4, that the US will not submit its own proposals to the coming Middle East peace conference at Annapolis. Olmert had already known for a week that President George W. Bush had come down against her broad conception of the event, as DEBKA-Net- Weekly 324 first revealed on Nov. 1. (Annapolis Devalued)

The emissary the White House chose to deliver the presidential decision to the Israelis and the Palestinians last week was Stephen Hadley, head of the National Security Council, DEBKA-Net-Weekly's Washington sources report, who carried Bush's decisions to shrink the content, format and expectations of the coming international peace conference:

1. No working papers or American bridging proposals would be presented before or during the Annapolis conference on core issues of the Isra eli-Palestinian conflict, i.e. borders, Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees and the war on terror.

2. Washington had no intention of imposing solutions or formulae either on Israel or the Palestinians.

3. The two sides must negotiate on their own without preset deadlines.

4. The Americans would be there to assist them both in the course of conference debates, but would not be an active participant.

These decisions mean that the Bush administration is pulling in its horns over the peace conference in support of Olmert's narrow approach and in diametric opposition to Rice's much bigger perception of the event as the starting-point for intensive and substantive Israel-Palestinian negotiations towards the establishment of a Palestinian state within a given timeline.

Affirming that the Israelis and Palestinians had not reached agreement on any issues at dispu te between them, Palestinian Authority Chairman, whom Rice m! eets in Ramallah Monday, said that his delegation would bring its own proposals to Annapolis. (DebkaFile; November 4, 2007)

· Praise the Lord, for He has heard the cries of His saints! America must not pressure Israel to give up land. Now we continue to pray that the conference will not be held at all, especially not within the borders of the USA. Praise the Lord that His servant President Bush has heard in his spirit the prayers of so many Americans, who understand the ramifications of a conference that Sec. Rice originally proposed. Pray over each of the four points listed above.

· "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O Most High." (Psalm 92:1)

2. RICE: U.S. DISAPPOINTED BY MUSHARRAF'S ACTION

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday the U.S. will review aid to Pakistan and denied that President George W. Bush's administration has "put all its chips" on Gen. Pervez Musharraf. A leading Democratic senator on foreign affairs said U.S. hands are "pretty well tied right now" because the Bush administration "has a Musharraf policy, not a Pakistani policy." While Rice's announcement puts in question some of the billions in U.S. assistance to a close terrorism-fighting ally, a Republican lawmaker urged Bush, silent so far, to speak out "in more specific terms" and suggested that Pakistan's shift from democratic, civilian rule could jeopardize U.S. military support. On a Mideast trip now overshadowed by the unfolding crisis in nuclear-armed Pakistan, Rice indicated the U.S. would not suspend aid wholesale. The U.S. has provided about $11 billion to Pakistan since 2001, when Musharraf allied his presidency with Washington after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

"Some of the aid that goes to Pakistan is directly related to the counterterrorism mission," Rice told reporters traveling with her. "We just have to review the situation. But I would be very surprised if anyone wants the president to ignore or set aside our concerns about terrorism." The top U.S. diplomat said she had not spoken directly with Musharraf since his announcement Saturday to suspend the constitution, oust the country's top judge and deploy troops to fight what he called rising Islamic extremism. She has decried those "extraconstitutional" moves. "I'm disappointed in his decision, sure," Rice said. "I think his decision sets Pakistan back in the considerable progress it made toward democratic change."

Bush, who has received steady updates on developments in Pakistan, is likely to make his first public comments Monday. He had not spoken directly with Musharraf as of Sunday afternoon, said national security adviser Gordon Johndroe. "The Pakistanis and President Musharraf know well our position, and the president's position," he said. "And they are hearing it from all different levels of the U.S. government." (AP)

· Offer continuing prayer in the spirit as events continue to unfold in this rapidly-changing picture in Pakistan. The key point is that Pakistan is a member of the nuclear club. Pray for RESTRAINT for the leaders of Pakistan, and for calm to return to that nation. Pray that the state of martial law is lifted in Pakistan, and for the democratic system of government to be honored once again by all who are in authority. Pray!

· Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26)

3. U.S. DIPLOMATS RESIST FORCED IRAQ DUTY

Uneasy U.S. diplomats yesterday challenged senior State Department officials in unusually blunt terms over a decision to order some of them to serve at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad or risk losing their jobs. At a town hall meeting in the department's main auditorium attended by hundreds of Foreign Service officers, some of them criticized fundamental aspects of State's personnel policies in Iraq. They took issue with the size of the embassy -- the biggest in U.S. history -- and the inadequate training they received before being sent to serve in a war zone. One woman said she returned from a tour in Basra with post- traumatic stress disorder only to find that the State Department would not authorize medical treatment.

Some participants asked how diplomacy could be practiced when the embassy itself, inside the fortified Green Zone, is under frequent fire and officials can travel outside only under heavy guard. Service in Iraq is "a potential death sentence," said one man who identified himself as a 46-year Foreign Service veteran. "Any other embassy in the world would be closed by now," he said to sustained applause. (Washington Post; Reported by Intercessors for America)

· Pray for safety for all of our personnel who are serving in Iraq at this time: miliitary and civilian. Pray for WISDOM for President Bush and his advisors in the State Department and at the Pentagon, as they craft both short-term and long-term policy decisions for the future of U.S. - Iraqi relations.

· He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. (Psalm 91:11)

4. AL QAEDA LAUNCHES CYBER JIHAD

In a special Internet announcement in Arabic, picked up by DEBKAfile's counter-terrorism sources, Osama bin Laden's followers announced Monday, Oct. 29, the launching of Electronic Jihad. According to the Arabic language website, on Sunday, Nov. 11, al Qaeda's electronic experts will start attacking Western, Jewish, Israeli, Muslim apostate and Shiite Web sites. It states that they will begin by attacking 15 targeted sites and thereafter, expand the operation from day to day until hundreds of thousands of Islamist hackers are systematically on the offensive against untold numbers of anti-Muslim websites.

DEBKAfile's counter-terror sources report that, shortly after the first announcement, some of al Qaeda's own Web sites went blank, apparently crashed by the American intelligence computer experts tracking them. The next day, Oct. 30, they were up again, claiming their Islamic fire walls were proof against infidel assault. They also boasted an impenetrable e-mail network for volunteers wishing to join up with the cyber jihad to contact and receive instructions undetected by the security agencies in their respective countries.

Our sources say the instructions come in simple language and are organized in sections according to target. They offer would-be "martyrs", who for one reason or another are unable to fight in the field, to fulfill their jihad obligations on the internet. These virtual martyrs are assured of the same thrill and sense of elation as a jihadi on the "battlefield."

In effect, say DEBKAfile's counter-terror experts, al Qaeda is retaliating against Western intelligence agencies' tactics, which detect new terrorist sites and zap them as soon as they appear. Until now, the jihadists kept dodging the assault by throwing up dozens of new sites simultaneously. This kept the trackers busy and ensured that some of the sites survived, while empty pages were promptly replaced. (DebkaFile)

· Ask our Lord to grant great and unusual wisdom to the technical specialists who know how to build in fail-safe security systems for all of our online needs. Ask, too, that any "cyber jihadists" now working in secret for these tech firms be identified, removed, and brought to justice. Cover all internet communication lines with the Blood of Jesus, by faith, for only in Him do we find our protection.

· If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)

5. U.S. MILLIONS TO BOOST FATAH

President George W. Bush has proposed an immediate escalation in financial aid to the Palestinian Authority [PA]. The cash splash will include US $150 million in a direct hand out to the PA. The money is believed to be an effort to keep the Annapolis peace conference breathing despite its current coma. Glenn Kessler, in an October 31 article for the Washington Post, estimated the additional aid to be offered as US $435 million, "on top of US $77 million requested earlier this year." The Bush administration previously restricted cash transfers to US $50 million, but now the Middle East Peace Plan needs a transfusion.

Earlier this week, the former PA Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei said the PA would withdraw from Annapolis unless they could be guaranteed finalization on the birth of the Palestinian state. This while missiles continued to rain on Sderot. Earlier, PA "moderate" Mahmoud Abbas [Abu Mazen] warned he would quit unless US Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice "delivered." He also threatened a failure at Annapolis would mean Fatah would have to revert to an intifada.

This week, the Palestinian Media Watch revealed song lyrics broadcast by Fatah TV laying claims to cities in Israel. The future residential locations for Palestinian development included Haifa and Eilat, and who knows what they will be called in days to come. The Annapolis conference is meant to be the platform to promote the demise of Hamas, the group previously elected to govern the PA.

The US State Department in their aid request reportedly said, the money "supports a critical and immediate need to support a new Palestinian Authority (PA) government that both the US and Israel view as a true ally for peace." The request has been sent to Congress. Analysts are already predicting "close scrutiny" of the details. (Bridges for Peace)

· Pray that our Congress not approve these monies for Fatah in "Palestine." God WILL unveil another way to bring peace to this region, if we pray.

· He stretched out His hand over the sea, He shook the kingdoms; The LORD has given a commandment against Canaan, to destroy its strongholds. (Isaiah 23:11)

6. MORE THAN 60 YEARS LATER, SHIP "EXODUS" RETURNS TO ISRAEL

A reenactment in the port of Haifa this morning [November 1] will honor the 60th year since the sailing of the ship Exodus, one of the most famous immigration events in Jewish history. Three hundred French Jews, including new immigrants and Holocaust survivors, will take part in sailing on the memorial trip according to a press release from the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Michael Jankelowitz, liaison to the foreign press for the Jewish Agency for Israel, felt that using the trip to bring new immigrants to Israel was an important aspect to the memorial. "That is what the Exodus symbolized; it symbolized the creation of the State of Israel, and the creation of the State of Israel was to serve as the refuge and homeland for Jews all over the world," said Jankelowitz. "So it's not only a reenactment of the event, but it's also something tangible. Even today, immigration is one of the cornerstones of the existence of the State of Israel." The Exodus sailed from France on July 11, 1947, with 4,500 Holocaust survivors on board, only to be prevented by the British from entering Mandatory Palestine in an effort to stop illegal immigration to the area. (Bridges for Peace; Excerpt)

· Pray that the Jewish people in Israel and around the world will never have to face this kind of situation again.

· "Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; Your elders, and they will tell you." (Deuteronomy 32:7)

7. VENEZUELA'S ASSEMBLY APPROVES CHAVEZ'S CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS

Venezuela's pro-government National Assembly overwhelmingly approved constitutional reforms on Friday that would greatly expand the power of President Hugo Chavez and permit him to run for re- election indefinitely. The 69 changes to Venezuela's Constitution now go to Venezuelan citizens for a single yes-no vote on Dec. 2.

The proposed changes, Chavez's most radical move yet in his push to transform Venezuela into a socialist state, threaten to spur a new wave of political upheaval in this oil-rich South American country already deeply divided over Chavez's rule. The amendments would allow the government to expropriate private property without a court ruling and take total control over the Central Bank, create new types of property managed by cooperatives, and extend presidential terms from six to seven years while allowing Chavez to run again in 2012. (AP)

· Continue to maintain a vigilant watch over this trouble-making country in South America. Chavez may think that he has all power, but all power belongs to the Lord. May he come to know Jesus Christ as his own savior soon; and may all matters related to Venezuela end in peace.

· 0 Lord, God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven? And do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? In Your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand You. (2 Chronicles 20:6)

8. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH

November 11 marks the 11th observance of the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, a day set aside by Christians around the globe to remember and pray for their brothers and sisters suffering for their faith. To learn how your church or prayer group can get more information, prayer kits and bulletin inserts that will help you highlight and observe this year's event, visit the website for IDOP at this link.

[Even if your kit arrives after November 11, prayer can STILL be offered, ANY TIME, for our brothers and sisters who are suffering around the world today for the cause of the Gospel. Offer special prayer, too, for those "secret believers" in Moslem nations, who must hide their identities for safety's sake.]

· Pray for a tremendous, global response in prayer next Sunday on behalf of the persecuted church worldwide.

· Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power . . . (Psalm 110:3 NASB)

This Week, Worship Our Lord As . . .

ADONAI (Adoni)

That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. (Psalm 83:18)

This name, Adonai, LORD is too sacred even to pronounce as it really is. Lord, Your name is all I need in this life to get by. I don't need wealth, fame, power -- all I need is You. You give me the fulfillment within that nothing else will ever satisfy. How beautiful is Your Name.

Thank You that Your holy language is sacred. Your name is sacred. How I praise You for this knowledge. May I honor Your life in me, as I journey onward, desiring to do Your will. Blessed by Your Name!

1. LAW OF THE SEA TREATY (LOST) HEADED FOR VOTE ON SENATE FLOOR

On Wednesday, October 31, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) by a vote of 17 to 4. LOST is opposed by every Republican presidential candidate, but is favored by President Bush and most Democrats in the Senate.

LOST creates a commission to oversee the rights and access that all signatory countries have in regard to international waters: the International Seabed Authority. Those sitting on the board of the International Seabed Authority would decide which countries can gain access to which waters. Given the anti-American sentiment already prevalent at the United Nations, a second governing body would likely fare no better.

Ratification of this treaty would also subject the U.S. to a foreign tribunal with unaccountable, unelected judges. One can assume the court would not favorably judge U.S. interests such as military activity and business developments when it has expressed its dedication to giving preference to developing countries.

Furthermore, military and intelligence activity may also be subject to LOST and the International Seabed Authority. Military intelligence is necessary to protect U.S. borders and prevent terrorist attacks. Yet if the governing bodies of the treaty decide otherwise, U.S. military operations could be severely hindered. The convention is also designed to promote industry in developing countries by forcing developed countries to give them access to technology. Our military abilities would be compromised and freely given to developing, and potentially hostile countries that could then use our technologies against us.

Please call your Senators at 202-224-3121 and urge them to oppose LOST. (Concerned Women for America)

· We urge all of our readers to not only PRAY that this treaty fails in the Senate, but also to TAKE ACTION on this issue. Call your own Senators and voice your opinions on LOST -- and please do this quickly!

· "Therefore, faith without works is dead." (James 2:17) "Thus far you may come but no further, and here shall your proud waves be stopped!" (Job 38:11)

2. ENDA VOTE DELAYED BUT NOT "DEAD"

ENDA - A vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act continues to be delayed while proponents fight over adding so-called "Transgendered" persons back into the bill. ENDA would provide homosexual employees and job seekers special federal protection, requiring employers to hire homosexuals and sexually confused people - regardless of their own religious views or how it will affect their businesses or clienthle. White House advisors still say they have encouraged President Bush to veto. (FRC Prayer Targets)

· Continue to Pray that ENDA will be defeated, and that, should it pass; the President will veto it.

· But let your communication be,Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. (Matthew 5:37)

3. BUSH CALLS SCHIP BILL "A TRICK ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE"

President Bush on Wednesday again vowed to veto a renewed push to expand a popular children's health care program, saying it would play a 'trick' on Americans by moving the country closer to a federalized health system. "Halloween's an appropriate day to talk about it because there's a bill moving through Congress that's disguised as a bill to help children, but I think it's really a trick on the American people," the president told attendees of the Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Products Association's fall conference.

"If they keep passing this legislation, I will keep vetoing it,' Bush vowed, saying the latest version is even more expensive than the first, which he vetoed October 3. 'So instead of pushing to federalize health care all at once, they're pushing for the same goal through a series of incremental steps," Bush said. "With each step, they want to bring America closer to a nationalized system where the government dictates the medical care for every citizen." (CNN)

· Lord, we thank You for the wisdom and foresight to expose and veto this bill. We ask for our freedom over health care to be continually protected. We speak the blessings of wisdom, truth and understanding over President Bush that he may walk faithful before You.

· "Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight." (Ps. 101:6,7)

4. DEMOCRATS PROPOSE "THE MOTHER OF ALL TAX INCREASES"

Taxing Families into Ruin - Rep. Charlie Rangel (D- NY), chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, together with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other liberal leaders, wants to raise our taxes. Historically, lowering taxes has stimulated the economy, increased revenues and led to economic expansion. Raising taxes will hurt families, slow the economy and decrease revenues. Liberals in Congress seem driven to increase taxes, targeting middle and upper middle class taxpayers as "the wealthy." Last week Rep. Rangel introduced an estimated $3.5 trillion tax increase that would raise the capital gains tax rate from 15% to 19.6% and place a surtax of 4.6% on people making more than $150,000 a year. Mr. Rangel would apply the surtax to adjusted gross income, protecting the tax from deductions like charitable contributions, home mortgage deductions, and state and local taxes. Rangel's plan would end the Bush tax cuts, and increase the top income tax rate from 35% to 44%, impacting individuals, small-business owners and farmers, who make up about 75% the upper tax bracket.

Meanwhile, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has introduced a bill to eliminate the Alternative Minimum Tax, extend the 15% capital gains and dividend rates, set to expire in 2010, and give taxpayers a choice between filing under the current tax system or a new option with just two income tax brackets, 10% for joint filers with incomes under $100,000 and 25% for those with higher incomes. It includes a $25,000 standard deduction and a $3,500 per person exemption - $39,000 for a family of four. There would be no other exemptions or loopholes and no Alternative Minimum Tax. Ryan projects that revenues would be about the same under his system but that it would stimulate the economy, increase economic growth and job opportunities, and simplify our complex and daunting tax filing process. God commands His people to pay taxes, but also sets standards for financing church and government. In our system, we can hold our leaders to account, and we must. (FRC Prayer Targets)

· Praise God for a system that allows us to hold our leaders accountable for their management of our national budget including levels and kinds of taxation. May we both pray and use our authority as citizens to make the process better. May our representatives defeat Rep. Rangel's "mother of all tax increases," and may better legislation gain traction, and may our burdensome tax system be simplified and our tax rates lowered. In the elections ahead, may we elect leaders who are committed to fiscal responsibility, and who will take action to reduce the National Debt, a huge burden we and our children already bear.

· Do justice to the afflicted and needy . Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. (Psalms 82:3b,4)

5. H.R. 505: THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN GOVERNMENT REORGANIZATION ACT
"Aloha to the Constitution"

In the Hawaiian language Aloha is used as a traditional greeting or farewell. Yesterday 261 Members of the House of Representatives said Aloha to the principles set forth in the Constitution by voting in favor of H.R. 505, the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act. The bill declares that anyone with at least one ancestor indigenous to Hawaii would have a right to autonomy and self-governance and would require the U.S. to assist them in creating their own new separate government.

The U.S. Supreme Court in U.S. v. Sandoval declared that the U.S. Congress does not have the power to create an Indian tribe where one does not exist. Even more recently the U.S. Civil Rights Commission noted that this legislation "would discriminate on the basis of race or national origin and further subdivide the American people into discrete subgroups accorded varying degrees of privilege." These concerns meant nothing to supporters of the bill.

Thankfully the U.S. Constitution does exist and grants a system of checks and balances. The Bush administration issued a Statement of Administration Policy yesterday where his senior advisors recommended President Bush would veto the bill if presented to him. I enjoy a good luau as much as the next guy-but not at the cost of the Constitution. (Family Research Council)

· This bill sets a very dangerous precedent for, if it were to become law, then our sovereignty as a nation would be violated. Offer praise the President Bush "sees through" this danger, and that his administration has already issued a policy statement opposing it. Ask our Lord to strengthen the hand of this president as another bill may reach his desk that will need to be vetoed. In the meantime, when H.R. 505 reaches the Senate floor, pray for its demise there, too. Thank God for the system of checks and balances which our Founding Fathers wisely wrote into our Constitution . . . for such a time as this.

· Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. (Isaiah 8:10)

6. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN THE NEWS

a. TEN COMMANDMENTS DECLARATION

Yesterday (Nov 1, 2007) the Religious Freedom Coalition participated in a news conference in the Rayburn House Office Building to promote Congressman Todd Akin's resolution recognizing the importance of the Ten Commandments. HR-598 would set aside May 2nd, 3rd and 4th of 2008 for Ten Commandments recognition.

b. TEN COMMANDMENTS IN THE CAPITOL?

Will radical left Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi allow a vote on placing the Ten Commandments in the Capitol Building like they are already displayed in the Supreme Court? Congressman Cliff Stearns (R- FL) earlier this year introduced HCON-12: a sense of the Congress resolution that the Capitol Architect place in a visible location the Ten Commandments. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

· Pray that the honoring of the Ten Commandments becomes a part of our nation's Capitol, for they are the basis of American law and certainly of the foundation of our nation. Over the head of the Speaker's chair in the House of Representatives are the words " In God we trust." Our nation needs to honor God in every way we can.

· "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance." (Psalm 33:12)

7. NEW PRO-LIFE LEADER OFFERS BILL HONORING LIFE

Newly elected Congressman Dr. Paul Broun (R-GA) looked me in the eyes and told me it was God who wanted him in Congress because he was there against all odds. That is very true. The entire Georgia Republican political machine tried to defeat him in favor of a state Senator to fill the vacated seat of deceased Congressman Norwood. Congressman Broun is about to introduce his first legislation and it is a pro- life bill that would declare that a human life begins at conception. Dr. Broun is a practicing medical doctor who has come to Washington openly proclaiming his faith. The bill has not as yet "dropped" and I will inform you as soon as there is a bill number. (Religious Freedom Coalition)

8. DEPT. OF DEFENSE IGNORES LAW BANNING PORN SALES

The U.S. Department of Defense is ignoring a law which forbids the sale of pornography on military bases. In military exchanges throughout the world, our Department of Defense does a brisk business in the sale of pornography, both magazines and videos. In 1996, Congress passed the Military Honor and Decency Act which forbids the sale of pornography on military bases.

But the Department of Defense is defying the law and ignoring Congress, which banned pornography after sexual harassment of women in the military became a major problem and military families complained that children were exposed to pornography in the military stores. Now, 11 years later, the Department of Defense is still selling pornography. Porn is even sold in our nation's military academies.

When contacted about their ignoring the law, Department of Defense responded by saying they planned to continue selling pornography. Incredibly, the Department of Defense does not consider such publications as Penthouse, Playboy, Playboy's Nude Playmates, and Playmates in Bed magazines to be sexually explicit! That would come as a surprise to Hugh Hefner and the thousands of American soldiers who buy these magazines. (AFA ActionAlert)

· Urge your congressman to require the Department of Defense to obey the law. The publications listed above are a far cry from Betty Grable's legs in a poster. Dishonoring women dishonors God, for He made men and women to be helpmates for each other. Who is making the money from such sales of salacious material? Decree that these sales will be stopped as only God knows how best to do. Dry up the streams of muddy waters so that streams of living water may flow to our servicemen and women.

· "Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death." (Proverbs 10:2)

9. J.K. ROWLING ANNOUNCES THAT A HARRY POTTER CHARACTER IS HOMOSEXUAL
NEWS IS CONDEMNED BY THE CHRISTIAN COALITION OF AMERICA

Roberta Coombs, President of Christian Coalition of America, was quoted in a number of publications around the world this past week concerning the announcement in Carnegie Hall, New York City, by the author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, that one of the main characters in the book/movie series is homosexual. Roberta Combs said: "It's very disappointing that the author would have to make one of the characters gay. It's not a good example for our children, who really like the books and the movies. I think it encourages homosexuality."

Here is an excerpt from: The United Kingdom's "Daily Mail": "JK Rowling may be a saint to millions of children and their parents, but today she is a sinner to a large slice of middle America. The 42-year-old Harry Potter author has become a hate figure to Christian evangelicals in the US since she outed Albus Dumbledore as gay. The mother-of three, who is worth £545 million, told a New York audience that the much loved head of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry was homosexual. Talk shows in the Bible Belt have condemned her, web-sites have reviled her, and newspaper letter columns have been filled with complaints. And there are fears it may affect profits at Warner Bros who have a further two films to make and a dvd on sale this Christmas.

"One website received over 3,000 postings in a day - typical was the message: "I am a Christian who supported these books as they brought the joy of reading back to so many kids and adults. "Now, I will make sure I throw away all the copies I have, and no one in my family will ever read that trash again. What a huge disappointment and great loss for so many kids who could have enjoyed these books. She just ensured that many, many, more people will not buy these books."

Signs of a backlash have now emerged. Evangelical Christian groups in America have condemned the bestselling series as immoral and have urged parents to boycott the books and films. One Catholic school has already removed the novels from its library. Roberta Combs, president of the Christian Coalition of America, which boasts millions of members, accused Rowling of "encouraging homosexuality." (Christian Coalition of America)

· Because of the witchcraft involved in almost every page of the Harry Potter books, many Christians have not supported their children reading the books at all. Pray for the redemption of this woman whose writing talents need to speak for the Lord. Pray for the protection of the minds of the children whose parents and teachers do not understand the dangers the books pose. Praise the Lord for the saints who protest against that which is wicked.

· Repent that a generation has now been indoctrinated to follow a "potter" other than our God. Our God IS "the potter . . . and we are the clay." Pray that somehow the hearts of these young ones might come out of deception -- that witchcraft is "fun," and "harmless," and "only a game," to the TRUTH that sets all of us free -- the work of the Cross.

· "But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand." (Isaiah 64:8)

10. 60 CHRISTIAN LEADERS CONSIDER NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR ELECTIONS

A meeting of 60 Christian conservative leaders was held on Sunday following the Washington Briefing at the Values Voters Summit, with members of the group on their knees praying for our country. The only concrete decision that emerged from the meeting was an agreement to call for a national day of prayer during the week of Thanksgiving to ask for God's guidance and wisdom as the country heads into the election season. They will seek to obtain a declaration from President Bush. Bishop Harry Jackson, member of FRC's Pastors' Council and President of the High Impact Leadership Coalition spoke to reporters. He said evangelical leaders may not now be united over a 2008 Presidential candidate, but, like the people of Israel in Nehemiah's day who rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem and who covenanted to rally on the wall wherever the trumpet sounded in order to repel their enemies, "We're going to stay together and listen for the sound of the trumpet." (FRC Prayer Targets)

· May God lead our leaders to organize a National Day of Prayer at this important juncture, and may God's people across America respond with heartfelt prayer for our nation and its future!

· The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh:
"By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish."
When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.
(Jonah 3: 5 - 10)

The Daily Brief - Friday, November 2, 2007

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)

Today's Daily Brief

1. 'Explosive Device' Shuts Nuke Plant - AP

Contract worker with 'suspicious device' stopped from entering grounds of Arizona nuclear power plant near Phoenix, Arizona.

· Offer praise for the quick action of the security personnel in spotting this danger today, and in responding by securing this plant in a lockdown procedure. Be in prayer that, if the man who was apprehended is in league with any others, all who are involved will be found.

· "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known." (Matthew 10:26)

2. NASA: Spacewalk will have 'higher risk than usual' - AP

Astronaut Risks Electrocution in Spacewalk Repair
NASA plans a risky spacewalk to save a ripped solar wing, shown above, at the international space station. The agency hopes to send veteran spacewalker Scott Parazynski to conduct the repairs on Saturday.

· Father, we pray protection over Scott Parazynski. Keep him safe and hold him up by Your mercy. Give him wisdom and discretion that will help him work safely to repair the solar wing.

[Editor's note: this space walk is scheduled to take place at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, so please activate your own prayer chains NOW on behalf of the safety of this brave astronaut! Thank you!] · "My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: so shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble." (Prov. 3: 21-23)

3. President Bush Says Democrats' SCHIP Bill Is "Really A Trick On The American People" - CNN

"If they keep passing this legislation, I will keep vetoing it," Bush vowed, saying the latest version is even more expensive than the first, which he vetoed October 3.

"So instead of pushing to federalize health care all at once, they're pushing for the same goal through a series of incremental steps," Bush said. "With each step, they want to bring America closer to a nationalized system where the government dictates the medical care for every citizen."

· Lord, we thank You for the wisdom and foresight to expose and veto this bill. We ask for our freedom over health care to be continually protected. We speak the blessings of wisdom, truth and understanding over President Bush that he may walk faithfully before You.

· "Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight." (Ps. 101:6,7)

4. Third Quarter GDP Growth Robust 3.9 Percent - The Financial Times

US growth in the third quarter was at its strongest since the beginning of last year, suggesting that a deepening housing recession and turmoil in the credit markets have yet to seriously upset other parts of the economy. Growth was also boosted by rising exports and government spending and offset by worsening trends in homebuilding, rising imports and slowing growth in non-residential investment.

· Lord, Praise to Your name for answering many prayers over our economy. We continue as children seeking and trusting You for answers in the financial system and housing market. You are our provider and we thank You for all the blessings we enjoy.

· "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee." (Psalm 84:11)

5. Tennessee town has run out of water - Fox News

The severe drought tightening like a vise across the Southeast has threatened the water supply of cities large and small, sending politicians scrambling for solutions. But Orme, about 40 miles west of Chattanooga and 150 miles northwest of Atlanta, is a town where the worst-case scenario has already come to pass: The water has run out.

· Lord, You alone can bless with rain. Thank You for Your word. It gives clarity to the reason rain is withheld. As we pray for rain turn our hearts toward You in repentance over walking our own way. Teach us as a nation to seek Your word as a lifestlye of holiness.

· "When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them: Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance." ( I Kings 8:35,36)

6. Northeast to Feel Noel's Wrath - AP

storm to hit the Atlantic this year, paralleled the U.S. coast on Friday, losing strength as it headed north toward Nova Scotia. Noel slammed the Caribbean earlier this week with heavy rain that caused flooding and mudslides, leaving 118 dead, officials said.

After drenching the Bahamas and Cuba on Thursday, the Category 1 hurricane's sustained winds were at 80 mph on Friday and its center was about 425 miles south of Cape Hatteras, N.C., the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said. Noel is moving to the north-northeast at about 17 mph, but was expected to pick up speed.

· Judging by the preceding article, our southeast region is in a desperate state due to drought, and really needs this rain!! Ask God to yet direct the path of this storm TOWARDS our southeastern coast, so that much-needed rain can fall upon this region. Ask for a miracle!

· "For He commands even the wind and the water, and they obey Him!" (Luke 8:25)

7. Marriage Advice, Saudi Style - MEMRITV.org; Fox News

Saudi author and cleric 'Dr.' Muhammad Al-'Arifi takes to airwaves to counsel young men on 'right way' to beat wife. They are to beat them lightly; and to avoid beating their wives in the face.

· Offer praise that the abusive teachings of Wahhabi- style Islam are coming to light. May God protect these precious women, even as He woos them to the knowledge of His saving grace, through the Blood of the Lamb.

· "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34) "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst." (Matthew 10:26)

8. U.S. Troop And Iraqi Civilian Deaths In Iraq Drop Significantly For Month Of October - AP

Violent deaths of U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians appear to have fallen sharply in Iraq in October, according to the latest Associated Press tally. The number of Iraqi civilians killed fell from at least 1,023 in September to at least 875 in October, according to the AP count. That's the lowest monthly toll for civilian casualties in the past year, and is down sharply from the 1,216 recorded in October 2006. The numbers are based on daily reports from police, hospital officials, morgue workers and verifiable witness accounts.

· Thank You, Lord for the significant drop in the death toll and for the recorded success. We ask Your hand of blessing to continue to protect and bring victory in Iraq. Bless Gen. David Petraeus with wisdom and power to accomplish the goals in Iraq quickly.

· "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident." (Ps. 27:1-3)

[Note: The civilian casualty toll, as well as the military casualty toll, seems to have been greatly reduced since scores of saints began to pray every Saturday morning with the Iraq Prayer Surge NOW. You can join them by visiting their web site, where the phone number and times are posted for this nationwide, weekly conference call.]

Iraq: Signs of Success

Iraq: Signs of Success

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Lieutenant General Ray Odierno, Americas second-ranking officer in Iraq, reported yesterday that U.S. casualties in Iraq declined in October to the lowest level since February 2004. Secretary Gates attributed much of this success to the surge strategy of General David Petraeus that President Bush ordered against fierce Democrat opposition in Washington.

Gates said, "It is due in the first instance to the surge, and then the consequences of the surge, and some of the things the surge has led to in al-Anbar and some of the areas around Baghdad at this point."

Speaking of al-Anbar province, Time magazine reported that Iraqi forces recently held an anti-Al Qaeda parade in al-Anbar to celebrate their success. Here's an excerpt: "Marines and soldiers who work in the region every day said they've witnessed a sea change and welcomed the celebration. 'I've seen the full transformation of Iraq,' said Marine Warrant Officer Bobby Garza. Garza said he's working on the second half of his fourth tour in Iraq. 'It's a beautiful thing. We wouldn't have been sitting here doing this in January. No way,' he said. 'But just in a blink of an eye you could see this place change. The people just switched and wouldn't let [al-Qaeda] back into their communities. Its wild.'"

Democratic Oppostion to War Effort Continues

Yet, in spite of this progress, Democrats on Capitol Hill are dragging their feet on funding our war efforts, holding up the president's attorney general nominee and delaying needed legislation allowing our intelligence community to keep tabs on the terrorists

Yesterday, President Bush leveled some of his harshest criticism, saying: "History teaches us that underestimating the words of evil, ambitious men is a terrible mistake. Bin Laden and his terrorist allies have made their intentions as clear as Lenin and Hitler before them. And the question is, will we listen?" When it comes to funding our troops, some in Washington should spend more time responding to the warnings of terrorists like Osama bin Laden and the requests of our commanders on the ground, and less time responding to the demands of MoveOn.org bloggers and Code Pink protesters.

Hillary Clinton, not surprisingly, stood up for the Code Pink protestors and the MoveOn.org bloggers, saying, George Bush's faulty and offensive historical analogies aren't going to end the war in Iraq, make America safer or bring our troops home. Americans are tired of the presidents efforts to play politics with national security and practice the politics of division.

But if anyone is playing politics with the war, its the party of Clinton, Kerry and Kennedy that is beholden to the anti-war radical Left. They are the ones who have spent months drafting legislation trying to force Americas retreat and defeat in Iraq.

"Peaceful" Islam on the Move

"Peaceful" Islam Forcing Its Way Into American Community By Demanding Legal Exceptions

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community slogan on its website is "Love for all, hatred for none." This group wants to build an Islamic Center on an old farm about 50 miles outside of Washington, D.C. in the sleepy country town of Walkersville, Maryland. The Ahmadies, as some call themselves, first approached the Walkersville Town Council requesting an exemption from the law to build a meeting place on land designated for agricultural purposes. Then the meeting place turned into a convention center where 5,000-10,000 people could meet once or twice a year. Then they wanted to have places where people could live on the property.

The ever changing requests are becoming demands. One Ahmadie quipped in a series of emails debating with Walkersville residents, "A place of gathering is our right, and I look for your help, not your confront." Salah Nizrami, who claims to be a Pakistani Ahmadie, says, "Overcome your prejudices and misinformation. Get to know us and then if you oppose that's fair enough." The email string that went on during the evening found Walkersville residents saying that they didn't want the Ahmadies in Walkersville because it would overtax their infrastructure of fire protection, water, sewage, roads, and police. Salah was reminded that the Ahmadies have a right to worship, not a right to a place to gather.

Salah evaded answering direct questions about how the Ahmadies follow Sharia law-the supreme law of Islam, saying only that people should get to know the Ahmadies and they will change their minds. Salah said that if the town of Walkersville didn't want the Ahmadies, they would not force themselves upon the town. But that is exactly what they are doing by appealing a ruling against their land use exception-a familiar pattern of the Ahmadies. Ahmadiyya Communities in Toronto and Calgary pushed their way into agricultural areas, built Islamic Centers, and are now building housing projects on the remaining land-a pattern that is sure to further raise the suspicions of Walkersville residents.

If Salah was representative of the peaceful Ahmadies, then its no wonder why Walkersville residents don't want the Ahmadies to build an Islamic Center there. And by not taking "no" for an answer when the Town Council turned them down, the Ahmadies are showing they will force their way---seems like that's not "peaceful existence" at all. But of course, Sharia law is the ultimate law Ahmadies obey, so Walkersville land use laws are not supremely recognized, just the demand of dhmmitude, submission to Islam under Sharia law-give me your land peacefully, or I will take it by any other means. Jeremiah 8:15 says, "We looked for peace, but no good came." Surely no good will come if Walkersville and other towns like them are forced to receive and accept Islam.

A Sign in the Heavens

Comet Draws Scientific, Amateur Interest

Comet Explodes on October 23rd to One Million Times Its Normal Size!

Comet Holmes 17P can now be seen with the naked eye.

A comet that has unexpectedly brightened in the past couple of weeks and now is visible to the naked eye is attracting professional and amateur interest.

Paul Lewis, director of astronomy outreach at the University of Tennessee, is drawing students to the roof of Nielsen Physics Building for special viewings of Comet 17P/Holmes.

The comet is exploding and its coma, a cloud of gas and dust illuminated by the sun, has grown to be bigger than the planet Jupiter. The comet lacks the tail usually associated with such celestial bodies but can be seen in the northern sky, in the constellation Perseus, as a fuzzy spot of light about as bright as the stars in the Big Dipper.

"This is truly a celestial surprise," Lewis said. "Absolutely amazing." "This is a once-in-a-lifetime event to witness, along the lines of when Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 smashed into Jupiter back in 1994," Lewis said.

Scientists speculate the comet has exploded because there are sinkholes in its nucleus, giving it a honeycomb-like structure. The collapse exposed comet ice to the sun, which transformed the ice into gas. "What comets do when they are near the sun is very unpredictable," Lewis said. "We expect to see a coma cloud and a tail, but this is more like an explosion, and we are seeing the bubble of gas and dust as it expands away from the center of the blast."

Experts aren't sure how long the comet's show will last, but estimate it could be weeks _ if not months. Using a telescope or binoculars help bring the comet's details into view, they said. (AP)

The comet's physical diameter is seven times wider than the planet Jupiter--and it is still expanding. It is moving in a direction away from the earth and, as of tonight, still lacks any visible "tail" formation -- so typical of most comets. (Spaceweather.com)

[Editor's Hint: When I first learned about this comet last week, I did not know where the Perseus Constellation was located in the heavens. so I just stood out on my street here in northern Virginia and began looking up.

The comet is clearly visible after about 10:00 p.m. and here's how: Find the moon, then gaze down a bit and over to your left a bit. You can't miss it.!!

Comet Holmes appears as a fuzzy, yellow/orange ball and is quite distinct from the surrounding stars. Enjoy!]

The Daily Brief - Thursday, November 1, 2007

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)

1. U.S. Pushes for More Sanctions, Iran Warns of Economic Retaliation - AP

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatened unspecified economic retaliation against European countries that follow the U.S. in imposing unilateral sanctions against Iran, state radio reported Thursday.

· Father we take authority over the spirit of fear and intimidation which emanates from Iran, and bind it tightly in the name of Jesus. We apply the Blood of Jesus Christ against the plans of Tehran's fanatic rulers, and declare that they will not be able to accomplish any evil against Europe, Israel, or the US.

· "O my God, I put my trust in You. Let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me." (Psalm 25:2 NKJV)

2. Oil Prices in the News - BBC, Newsmax.com

a) Soaring Oil Climbs Past $96 Mark - BBC
Oil prices have continued their unremitting climb, passing the $96 a barrel mark after figures showed a surprise fall in US crude reserves.

b) Gold Prices Rise to 27 Year High - BBC
Gold prices have hit a 27-year high, rising on the back of surging oil prices and continuing dollar weakness.

c) Fed Cuts Borrowing Rates by Quarter Point - Newsmax.com

The Federal Reserve, confronted with surging oil prices and a slumping housing market, on Wednesday cut a key interest rate by a quarter-point, the second rate reduction this year.

· Lord once again we pray for Your mercy over our economy. Father, higher oil prices are hitting every person in the United States, and the cutting of rates may harm the dollar abroad. We ask that You will shore up the broken places of our economy if only for the sake of Your people in this nation. We stand in the gap once again, Holy God, for our national policy of forcing Israel to divide its land, and we ask for Your mercy to visit us in the midst of judgment. Be our Jehovah Jireh, the provider of our needs. We ask this in Jesus' most merciful Name, amen.

· "I will abundantly bless her provision, I will satisfy her poor with bread." (Psalm 132:15 NKJV)

3. Senate Panel OKs Sea Treaty, but Fight Looms - Washington Times

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee easily approved the Law of the Sea convention yesterday, brushing back conservatives' objections and setting up a bruising ratification fight on the Senate floor, where Republicans say they can defeat it.

· Father, while the split on opinions over this treaty are wide, even among conservatives and military analysts, we pray that You will defeat any agenda that is not advantageous to America. We pray that truth will prevail, and that the sovereignty of the United States will not be compromised.

· "The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man. . .He shall prevail against His enemies." (Isaiah 42:13 NKJV)

4. Poll: Most OK Birth Control For Schools - USA Today

People decisively favor letting their public schools provide birth control to students, but they also voice misgivings that divide them along generational, income and racial lines, a poll showed.

· Father, while this poll was obviously skewed and not a reflection of the views of all Americans, we repent immediately. We humbly and fervently ask for Your mercy over our children and over parents with no knowledge of Your Word or Your heart. Cleanse us of the sin in the United States, and grant us mercy and forgiveness from Your love.

· "Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation." (Psalm 85:6-7 NKJV)

5. Tropical Storm Noel Buffets South Florida - Newsmax.com

Tropical Storm Noel buffeted south Florida with high surf and winds as it swirled slowly toward the Bahamas Thursday after triggering mudslides and floods in the Caribbean that killed at least 103 people.

· Lord, we thank You that this storm may only skirt the edge of Florida rather than hit full on. We pray for Your comfort and restoration to the people whose lives have been devastated by it in the Caribbean. May some of the rain from this system yet fall upon the southeastern region of our nation, in a gentle and merciful way.

· "For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,' says the Lord." (Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV)

6. President Bush Nominates Edward T. Schafer To Serve As Secretary Of Agriculture - Washington Post

President Bush yesterday nominated Edward T. Schafer, who served two terms as governor of North Dakota, to head the Department of Agriculture, an agency with a broad mandate including administration of the federal food stamp program, aiding economic development in rural America and enhancing food safety.

· Offer prayer for the former governor of North Dakota as he prepares to face Senate Hearings later this month. May he be graced with wisdom from above in his new role, once confirmed, as Secretary of Agriculture.

· "The effectual, fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

7. Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice To Visit Middle East - Agence France Presse

Will Prepare For Peace Conference Next Month

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice travels to the Middle East this week to lay the groundwork for key Israeli-Palestinian talks in the United States next month. The secretary, due to visit Jerusalem and Ramallah from Sunday to Tuesday, said last week that she felt it to be a promising moment for a breakthrough in the perpetually troubled Mideast region. "The timing comes down to what it is we need to do to give forces of moderation a boost and defeat the forces of extremism," she told US lawmakers at a congressional hearing last week. The United States is hoping that the conference forms the basis for next month's negotiations on the creation of a Palestinian state.

"She's going to take stock of where the two parties are . . . about where they stand in their discussions, not only on preparations for the meeting, the document that they are preparing, but also where they are in terms of implementing elements of the road map," said State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack, referring to the long stalled international blueprint for Mideast peace. "She wants to see where progress is on both of those tracks," he said.

· Pray for journeying mercies and for protection for the Secretary of State as she visits these countries next week. Continue to ask our Lord, in prayer, to drive a wedge between the negotiating parties in this time of preparation. If this plan is not according to His will, it cannot stand.

· "Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us." (Isaiah 8:10 NIV)

ENDA the Line for a Non-Sexualized Workplace?

The House leadership may have painted itself into a rainbow corner on one of the most volatile political issues of the term--the Employment Non- Discrimination Act (ENDA). After some heated bickering over whether or not to include the transgender community in the bill as a "protected class," Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) ultimately submitted the current proposal, H.R. 3685, without the cross-dresser provision. His effort to soften the legislation could cost the party crucial votes from liberals who feel the leadership should go "all or nothing" on ENDA. Unsure that she could shore up the necessary support in time, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) succeeded in postponing the vote until this month.

Yesterday, FRC learned that ENDA is likely to be brought up next week. Fortunately, the delay has given us an opportunity to educate and mobilize more Americans about ENDA's real purpose--suppressing religious freedom. For more on that, we encourage you to log on to www.frc.org and order a copy of our latest publication, Homosexuality Is Not a Civil Right, which explains how homosexual activists are camouflaging their demand for special treatment as an appeal for "equal rights." While you're waiting for your pamphlets to arrive, pick up the phone and call your House members. Urge them to oppose any bill that forces employers to abandon their personal beliefs and creates special employment protections for people based upon their sexual behavior.

· Clearly, for those of us who value the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation, ENDA is one bill that we do not want to see pass in this Congress. Cry out to God for mercy, and ask Him to loose His angelic host to do battle on our behalf. Ask our Lord to put an END to ENDA.

· "Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word." (Psalm 103:20)

Don't Pressure Israel

It is difficult for Americans to understand the evil confronting Israel. Most of its Muslim "neighbors" refuse to recognize its existence, while others, like Iran, have vowed to "wipe Israel off the map." Their animosity is fueled by a steady diet of anti-Semitism that nurtures a culture of death, which breeds homicide bombers.

A recent example of this was on display last week when a Lebanese TV channel, affiliated with a senior Lebanese politician, aired a show dedicated to the false and discredited Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and accused the Jews of drug trafficking to take over the world.

Of course, the truth is very different. Islamic terrorists are working hand-in-hand with Mexican drug lords, and opium production in the Middle East is a major source of funding for the Taliban and other Islamofascist groups.

Unbelievably, the show even suggested that Jewish drug trafficking, "led to the Nazi extremism." So in the Islamofascist mindset, the Holocaust - the deliberate, systematic murder of six million Jews - was an act of self- defense!

My friends, this is the hatred that the Israeli people face every day. America must stand with Israel, because as we know, the Islamofascists don't just hate the Jews - they hate Christians, too, and even other Muslims who don't follow their radical ideology.

America is hosting an upcoming Middle East peace summit in Annapolis, Maryland, and many fear our government will pressure Israel to make more concessions to its sworn enemies.

Here's how you can make a difference: Christians United For Israel is asking Americans to call the White House right now at 202-456-1111. Urge the administration not to pressure Israel into making more "land for peace" deals that weaken Israel's security. Thank you.

AP Story On Birth Control To Minors Deceptive

Americans have the false impression that the news media, the esteemed fourth estate that is supposed to report the truth, reports the facts in a truthful way. But what the general public doesn't seem to understand is that the news media often reports the facts in a way that makes a case for or against a certain position. A good example is an Associated Press story about schools giving birth control to minors. The AP reports the results of a poll it conducted in conjunction with pollster Ipsos that indicated some 67 percent of Americans favor schools handing out birth control to minor students.

The headline declared: "Poll: Most OK Birth Control For Schools." The poll was taken in the aftermath of a Portland, Maine school board approving handing out birth control pills to 11 year old girls without parental consent. The country was outraged by the suggestion and the controversy sparked a national debate about parental rights. AP reporters appear to have taken the liberal side of the debate to heart and are reporting the results of the AP-Ipsos poll with a bias to support the leftist side of things. The story takes the position that parents believe that giving contraceptives to minor students reduces unwanted teen pregnancies and uses the poll data to support the position.

But it is not until the tenth paragraph that readers learn that different results in the poll were combined together to come up with the 67 percent figure of Americans supporting schools giving contraceptives to kids. The paragraph reads, "The 67 percent in the AP poll who favor providing birth control to students include 37 percent who would limit it to those whose parents have consented, and 30 percent to all who ask." In reality, the debate in Portland, Maine was over whether there should be parental consent when schools give birth control to minors. The poll said 37 percent believe birth control should go to only kids whose parents have given permission and only 30 percent say it should be given to all who ask.

AP combined the two figures to make the case that the overwhelming majority of Americans favor schools giving birth control to minors when not even a majority of Americans favor giving birth control with parental consent. The story should really read that Americans disagree with schools giving birth control pills to minors-only 37 percent say birth control should be given only with parental consent, and only 30 percent say it should be given to all who ask. But the story misleads the reader in a way that appears to attempt to slant public opinion. 2 Timothy 3:13 says, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." Pray for great discernment in these days.
