The "Impeachment" - Update

House Dems facing new headwind in impeachment: The Senate - WND
Majority Democrats in the House of Representatives these days are putting virtually 100 percent of their time into their campaign to impeach President Trump.

They've jumped on his telephone call, from July, with the president of Ukraine to claim there was a quid pro quo and have been having multiple witnesses tell them about what they felt about the telephone call, for which a transcript is publicly available.

But now there are new headwinds, according to a commentary from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Its a looming resolution from the U.S. Senate, where any trial for any charges the House would bring against the president would be held.

In fact, Gingrich reports, Sen. Lindsey Graham has written a "powerful resolution" and already has 50 co-sponsors, meaning if everyone else opposed it, Vice President Pence still could cast the deciding vote for it, which would "dismiss any phony impeachment from the house that failed to meet a key standard of fairness."

Gingrich explained the resolution calls on the House to vote in an impeachment inquiry, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi abruptly announced on Monday before reports appeared Tuesday suggesting that was in flux, to provide the president with due process including the ability to confront accusers, call witnesses and more, and allow members of the GOP in the House the right to "participate fully in all proceedings and have equal authority to issue subpoenas."

He explained that the Trump administration already had said it would not cooperate with a "secret investigation" and the Senate was "prepared to reject a kangaroo court-style secret approach" putting Pelosi in "a box" regarding her strategy.

"If the House Democrats fail to heed the warning of the [Senate] resolution, they will be setting up all their efforts to be dismissed out of hand by the senators who have called on them for real reforms in the current impeachment process," Gingrich explained.

The division between political parties in Congress probably has never been deeper. Democrats say they believe the process being pursued is fair and right and needed, while Republicans almost uniformly condemn it as a "sham."

"House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes, R-Calif., Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Michael McCaul, R-Texas, penned a letter to Rep. James McGovern, the chairman of the House Rules Committee who announced his panel would take up an impeachment procedure resolution on Wednesday to 'ensure transparency and provide a clear path forward,'" Fox reported.

They accused McGovern "of not giving enough time for Republican members to review the resolution ahead of the vote and continued to blast the inquiry as a whole."

The GOP members charged, "Under House Rules you championed at the beginning of this Congress, major legislation is required to be posted 72 hours in advance of a vote. Yet, here, on the gravest and most solemn work the House can do, you are forcing the House to consider a resolution with text that is still not available two days before the vote."

They said they need the text to know what is the Democrats' plan. Their concerns build on their criticisms of Democrats over recent weeks for holding hearings and interviewing witnesses - about impeachment - in secret.

Democrats said Monday the House would vote on an inquiry on Thursday - because of concerns expressed by Republicans. Then Tuesday, however, the Washington Examiner reported that Democrat leaders were walking back that planned vote on Thursday. "This is not an impeachment resolution," House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said. "I don't know what an impeachment resolution is." And Pelosi said her scheduled vote is "not an impeachment resolution." Hoyer controls the floor schedule on the House and admitted he'd have to "consider whether or not it is ready to go on Thursday."
Rep. Doug Collins, one of the more vocal critics of the Democrats' impeachment campaign, said Congress should be "doing the people's business." He said the process has been completely unfair and the impeachment campaign has been a "sham."

Graham charged that the Democrats, by suggesting a vote now, are trying to "un-ring" a bell, since they've been grilling their specially chosen witnesses and leaking specially chosen comments and statements for weeks now.

Collins explained, "You can't fix what the craziness that they've done over the past three or four weeks to slam this president and do what they have been doing and now try to make it better." (Read more)

Focus on Israel

1. Arab nations reject any Trump Israeli-Palestinian plan not on '67 lines - Jerusalem Post

Arab nations have rejected any Israeli-Palestinian peace plan not based on the pre-1967 lines, as US special envoy Jared Kushner visited Israel and Saudi Arabia in advance of the publication of US President Donald Trump's Deal of the Century to resolve the conflict.

In an interview with Channel 13 Tuesday night, Kushner said that the Trump peace plan offered Israel regional opportunities and was important for its security.

"Having peace with the Palestinians is a critical step if they want to have long term security in the region," said Kushner. He is Trump's son-in-law and the lead envoy on the plan.

On Monday at the UN Security Council, one Arab country after the other alluded to the plan, as they made statements in support of a two-state solution, which rests in part on the regional support of moderate Arab nations.

Earlier this year Kushner stated that the plan would part from past initiatives, including the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, endorse by the Arab League. It offered Israel normalized ties in exchange for a two-state solutions at the 67 lines with minimal, undefined, territorial swaps.

It is widely believed that Trump's plan would allow Israel to retain all its West Bank settlements, where some 430,000 of its citizens live.

Kushner told Channel 13 that both Israelis and Palestinians would need to make compromises, but he gave no more specifics during the interview.

2. Israeli Embassies On Alert, Air Defenses Adjusted In Face Of Iran Threat - Jerusalem Post

Israel's Air Force has adjusted its air defenses, and several Israeli embassies around the world have raised their alert level in light of increased tensions from Iran.

According to reports in Hebrew-language media, a series of adjustments were made to IAF air defense systems in light of the fear that Iran might try to carry out an attack using cruise missiles or suicide drones, similar to the October attack against Saudi Arabia.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have warned in recent days of the increased threat posed by the Islamic Republic, which they say is getting bolder and more willing to respond to Israeli attacks on Iranian and Iranian-backed militias and infrastructure.

3. Gantz: "When I will be Prime Minister, I will embrace all streams of Judaism" - YNET News

Blue and White leader MK Benny Gantz announced Tuesday that he will embrace all streams of Judaism if he were to become prime minister.

"When I will be the Prime Minister of Israel, I will embrace all streams of Judaism. We are part of an inspiringly colorful mosaic of cultures and traditions. I will nurture this pluralism," said Gantz as he addressed Jewish leaders from around the world attending The Jewish Agency for Israel Board of Governors in Jerusalem.

Gantz said he will also push for the implementation of the Western Wall agreement, a compromise reached between orthodox and non-orthodox

Jewish denominations, according to which the non-Orthodox "mixed" prayer area for men and women was supposed to be expanded in the southern part of the Western Wall.

4. Knesset Speaker to Sanders: Stop talking nonsense - Israel National News

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein on Tuesday fired back at US Senator Bernie Sanders, who said at the J Street Conference a day earlier that he would re-allocate some of the funds earmarked for Israel to Gaza if elected president.

"Bernie Sanders, stop talking nonsense. Just yesterday, I met with representatives of the EU during their visit to the Knesset, and I told them about the absurd claims regarding the economic situation in the Gaza Strip," tweeted Edelstein.

"It's time to put an end to these claims. They have the all the necessary means--they use the money earmarked for the public benefit in order to attack the State of Israel," he added.

Sanders in his remarks also called the Israeli government "racist" and even ridiculed both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, saying, "One is on the way to being ousted and the other may be sent to prison."

Sanders' comments were also criticized by Nikki Haley, the former US Ambassador to the UN.

5. PM Hariri resigns as Lebanon crisis turns violent - YNET News

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri said he would submit his resignation on Tuesday, declaring he had hit a "dead end" in trying to resolve a crisis unleashed by huge protests against Lebanon's ruling elite.

The Sunni politician addressed the nation in a televised address after a mob loyal to Shi'ite Muslim groups Hezbollah and Amal attacked and destroyed a protest camp set up by anti-government demonstrators in Beirut.

Lebanon has been paralysed by the unprecedented wave of protests against the rampant corruption of the political class that has collectively led Lebanon into the worst economic crisis since the 1975-90 civil war.

"For 13 days the Lebanese people have waited for a decision for a political solution that stops the deterioration (of the economy) and I have tried, during this period, to find a way out, through which to listen to the voice of the people," Hariri said in his speech.

"It is time for us to have a big shock to face the crisis. I am going to the Baabda (presidential) palace to present the resignation of the government. To all partners in political life, our responsibility today is how we protect Lebanon and revive its economy".

1. House Democratic Leaders Walk Back Impeachment Vote This Week - Epoch Times

The No. 2 Democrat in House of Representatives said he will not commit to Democrats voting this week to formalize the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. His remarks came after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said the House will vote to establish impeachment inquiry procedures against Trump.

The resolution that is expected on Thursday would "address the process," of ending the secret depositions "into a phase when we have public hearings," Hoyer added. The resolution will be drafted on Wednesday by the House Rules Committee, according to a notice on its website.

Pelosi on Monday said in a letter that the resolution was not legally necessary. The House is taking the vote "to eliminate any doubt as to whether the Trump administration may withhold documents, prevent witness testimony, disregard duly authorized subpoenas, or continue obstructing the House of Representatives," she said.

2. New 'Impeachment Inquiry' Star Witness Admits Protecting the 'Interagency' - Breitbart

The New York Times has obtained the opening statement of Lieutenant Colonel Alexander S. Vindman, the top White House expert on Ukraine, who will testify to the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday about his concerns about President Donald Trump's telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July.

The statement, leaked to the Times - though committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has likened impeachment to a "grand jury" proceeding, which is typically conducted in secrecy - is described by the Times as the first account of someone who actually listened in on the telephone call, as opposed to hearing about it second- or third-hand.

Vindman says that he became concerned in the spring of 2019 about "outside influencers promoting a false narrative of Ukraine inconsistent with the consensus views of the interagency." That concern for the fate of the "consensus views of the interagency" informed Vindman's approach to the president's contacts with Zelensky. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the motives of all these witnesses called before Congress will be exposed.

- You shall not bear a false report; do not join your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. (Exodus 23:1)

3. Flynn hearing canceled after lawyer claims FBI manipulated files - FoxNews

The federal judge presiding over the case of ex-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has canceled a hearing scheduled for next week, citing his lawyers' latest motion - which made a slew of misconduct allegations against the government while seeking access to supposedly exculpatory evidence.

The cancellation comes just days after Flynn's attorney Sidney Powell filed a 161-page brief demanding the government produce all evidence related to Flynn, while urging the court to "dismiss the entire prosecution for outrageous government misconduct" and hold the prosecutors in contempt.

The explosive court document, filed last week, alleged that FBI agents manipulated official records of Flynn's 2017 interview that led to him being charged with lying to investigators. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the complete exoneration of General Flynn and accountability for the government employees who participated in bringing this case.

- Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent- the Lord detests them both. (Proverbs 17:15)

4. China, US to sign trade deal on Nov. 17 in win for Trump - FoxNews

President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet in Chile on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on Nov. 17 and may sign the "phase one" trade deal that the two sides hammered out earlier this month.

China on Tuesday appeared eager to meet U.S. demands in the trade negotiations, particularly on the thorny issue of intellectual property theft - a key irritant in its tariff war with Washington.

The announcement adds to a drumbeat of market-opening promises by the communist government, which is trying to make China's cooling, state-dominated economy more productive. Beijing also will ease restrictions on foreign competitors in some newly opened finance businesses, the Commerce Ministry said. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to give President Trump wisdom regarding this trade deal and we pray he will do what is best for the United States.

- Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. (Proverbs 4:26)

5. US assembling a devastating strike force in the Middle East - American Thinker

The United States is openly deploying the weapons necessary to launch a devastating attack on Iran, should the need arise. B-1B bombers have arrived in the desert kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with stealth fighters, missile batteries and specialist troops.

On September 14, wave after wave of cruise missiles and drones burst among Saudi Arabian oil facilities. According to international intelligence agencies, the brazen strikes came from Iranian soil. Iran insists it has had nothing to do with raids on oil tankers or the bombing of Saudi Arabia.

It's a classic example of modern grey warfare, where even implausible deniability shields rogue nations from international consequences. The deployment is acting as a shield permitting the grey warfare to be symmetrical. "Peace through strength" is the motto of the Strategic Air Command, and it works. (Read more)

- Father, we pray this strike force will be a deterrent against military and terrorist activities in the Middle East.

- The Lord utters His voice before His army; surely His camp is very great, for strong is he who carries out His word. The day of the Lord is indeed great and very awesome, and who can endure it? (Joel 2:11)

6. President Trump Is Challenging California's Sanctuary Law In The Supreme Court - Daily Caller

The Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court to toss a California law barring state authorities from cooperating with federal immigration officials.

The California Values Act, or SB 54, bans law enforcement from transferring criminal aliens to immigration authorities or sharing personal information about migrants.

The parties in the case are playing somewhat against type: Trump is relying on a liberal Supreme Court precedent to argue for expansive federal power, while California is using federalism principles to defend its law. (Read more)

- Father, we pray all laws protecting illegal aliens in sanctuary cities will be nullified by the Supreme Court.

- Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

7. Lebanon PM Resigns Amid Nationwide Protests - CBN News

Lebanon's embattled prime minister says he is handing in his resignation to the president after he hit a "dead end" amid nationwide anti-government protests.

Saad Hariri spoke Tuesday after nearly two weeks of nationwide mass demonstrations. Protesters are calling for the resignation of the government and the overthrow of the political class that's dominated the country since its 1975-1990 civil war.

Hariri's comments were quickly cheered by the few protesters who had returned to the epicenter of the protests in central Beirut. Hariri called on all Lebanese to protect civil peace and prevent further economic deterioration. He said he will present his resignation to President Michel Aoun. (Read more)

- Father, we pray this resignation will lead to a season of peace and stability for the weary people of Lebanon.

- My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
(Psalm 119:28)

8. Alabama Abortion Ban Blocked by Carter-Appointed Federal Judge - Epoch Times

District Judge Myron Thompson issued an injunction on Oct. 29, preventing the state from enforcing the ban. The preliminary injunction will remain in effect until the court fully resolves the case. State Rep. Terri Collins said the bill was designed to challenge Roe v. Wade in the hopes the Supreme Court would hear it.

The American Civil Liberties Union celebrated the ruling, writing in a statement: "With this federal court ruling, it's official: None of the state abortion bans passed earlier this year are in effect. Abortion remains legal in all 50 states."

The bill outlawed all abortions except in cases when the pregnancy puts the prospective mother's life is at risk. The Alabama law took aim at the core issue of whether an unborn child can be considered a person, as discussed in Roe v. Wade. The Alabama law defines a "person" as "a human being, specifically including an unborn child in utero at any stage of development, regardless of viability." (Read more)

- Father, we pray this case makes its way quickly to the Supreme Court and successfully overturns Roe v. Wade.

- Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; for Your law is my delight. (Psalm 119:77)

9. Dem Megadonor Using Clean Energy PAC as Front to Turn Virginia Blue - FreeBeacon

Hedge fund manager Michael Bills and his wife Sonjia Smith, the largest sources of individual political donations this cycle in Virginia, used a green energy PAC to push money to Democrat candidates. The couple has made more political donations in the past two years than in the previous decade.

The donations came through direct contributions to Democrat candidates as well as large investments in the Clean Virginia Fund, a PAC purportedly focused on fighting energy monopolies that has given predominately to Democrats. The couple has made more political donations in the past two years than in the previous decade.

In addition to writing five-figure checks to Democrat candidates, Bills founded the nonprofit Clean Virginia, which operates in tandem with a political action committee, Clean Virginia Fund. Both organizations are focused on targeting the state's largest energy provider, Dominion Energy. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the voters around this nation will not be persuaded by slick marketing and propaganda, but only be led by Your Spirit.

(Isaiah 63:14)

10. Judge revives Covington Catholic student's libel suit against Washington Post - Washington Examiner

Judge William Bertelsman of the U.S. District Court in Eastern Kentucky, who initially dismissed the case in late July on the grounds the paper's reporting was protected by the First Amendment, reinstated the case on Monday. The judge narrowed the number of allegedly defamatory statements the Post wrote about Sandmann from 33 to three.

"The Post wrongfully targeted and bullied Nicholas because he was a white, Catholic student wearing a red 'Make America Great Again' souvenir cap on a school field trip to the January 18 March for Life in Washington, D.C. "The Post knew, or should have known by exercising the slightest diligence, that Nathan Phillips was not a trustworthy witness and that it would be negligent to republish Phillips' narrative of the January 18 incident without a proper investigation."

Sandmann's lawyers claimed that "the Post ignored basic journalistic standards because it wanted to advance its well-known and easily documented, biased agenda against President Donald J. Trump by impugning individuals perceived to be supporters of the President." (Read more)

- Father God, we pray Nicholas Sandmann will be successful in holding the media accountable for spreading slander and libel.

- You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:16)

Using secret tribunals to destroy your freedom

The Democratic Party is behaving like a third world dictatorship by holding a secret tribunal on impeaching a duly elected president and propagandizing the testimonies of witnesses with vague and controlled releases to the news media. This is unheard of in America, where traditionally such things are done in public. and it is amazing that this is allowed to continue in secrecy. Last Wednesday, Republicans led by Minority Whip StevIe Scalise (R-LA) tried to enter the hearing room in the Capitol basement, where House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff set up his secret tribunal. The hearing was delayed for five hours. It should have been delayed permanently or until these hearings are conducted in public.

There is a pattern here that is very dangerous to America's Constitutional Republic-a political party using dictator-like tactics in secret and releasing to the media only damaging information to shape public opinion. Think back to post-election 2016, when the Democratic Party, candidate Hillary Clinton and the now ex-president paid for a false dossier on Donald Trump and then used it to convince the "secret" FISA Court to authorize spying on the Trump campaign and transition team. In November 2016, HeatStreet reported "that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of 'US persons' in Donald Trump's campaign with ties to Russia."

No evidence against Trump was found, but the wire-taps were continued, according to HeatStreet and the New York Times, under the pretext of national security. While the ex "president" himself may or may not have ordered wire taps and surveillance on Trump, even after he was elected, evidence suggests the ex "president's" Administration did spy on Trump and numerous other US citizens during his two terms in office. It is reported, documented and was considered routine. Now Judicial Watch is investigating the State Department for using a George Soros-backed Facebook-owned social media tracking tool to spy on conservative talk show hosts, Trump's son, his attorney and more than a dozen US citizens. The operation was conducted in Ukraine at the behest of the former ambassador appointed by the ex-president.

The deep state is very deep. It can conjure up evidence, control a narrative, and make a case against anyone it wants-including you. The government has overcome the power of the people evidenced by secret tribunals, spying, fabricating cases against those who oppose it. These powers are conducting these things without due process and are daring the public to stop them by their mere illegality. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party has allowed itself to be wrapped around the axel of the deep state. In John 3:20, Jesus said, "For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." These deeds must be exposed and accountability demanded, otherwise your freedom of religion and of speech will be crushed in darkness.

From the International Prayer Council

International Prayer Alert:

Stilling the Turmoil of the Nations

"You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations." (Psalms 65:5-7)

1. Calming mass international tumult - One pundit writes: "Consider that we now have mass public unrest (on and off) in: France, Spain, and that 24% AfD vote in Germany, and Brexit in the UK; Algeria; Iraq: Lebanon; Egypt; Russia; Hong Kong; Venezuela; Chile; Ecuador; and Bolivia. Plus deepening polarisation in the US - and one could add the middle-class disruption of Extinction Rebellion in Australia, Canada, and others. In short, there isn't a continent that isn't seeing unrest in some form, and as Branko Milanovic notes today, one wonders if this isn't all a little 1968-ish." (ZeroHedge.com)

Let us continue to pray for God's calming of the unrest in many nations and for the repentance or overthrow of those like chaos-master, George Soros and his minions, who seek to stir it up in favor of a globalist Marxist system, a new world order which will be atheistic, totalitarian and anti-Christian. Pray that where reasonable reforms need to be instituted and wicked politicians removed, they will be and that our ancient enemy, Satan, the "prince of this world" will be bound in the authority of Jesus that each of us carry and can exercise through united prayer.

2. Israel's healing and unity- let's pray for Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz as they open a new round of unity talks to avoid a third parliamentary election in less than a year. Pray for the political deadlock following the inconclusive election last month to be broken and that these two leaders and their parties can work out an effective, unity government. Pray also for a healing the land team of prayer leaders and intercessors in the midst of their visit to Israel who ask for protection and favor for their entry in and exit out of Israel (October 24th & November 5); traveling mercies while in the Land, health and wellbeing for each member of the team; Supernatural grace and protection, Divine favor with locals; Deep spiritual connections with prayer house leaders (Jewish & Arab); Release of the spiritual gifts in each team member and Divine appointments with lost Israelis.

3. 3. USA call to national repentance November 3- "During the Civil War, as President Abraham Lincoln struggled to mend a divided and war-torn nation and recenter Americans around God and prayer, he issued a proclamation on March 30, 1863, calling for a "Day of National Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer." The text of Lincoln's proclamation has pointed lessons for today, as our nation is once again deeply divided. It repeatedly references God, calls on Americans to turn back to prayer and acknowledges the importance that God plays in human affairs. It was indeed a "call to repent before God" which is appropriate for us today." Let's pray for a true spirit of self-humbling, identifying in repentance for the corporate sins of the USA that many will observe across America this Sunday. If you want to participate, you can join the 24/7 prayer call that day from 12 am to 12 pm Sunday (1-712-770-4340 Code: 543555 # )

4. Elimination of ISIS and other radical Islamic movements. U.S. special forces helped by the Kurds took down two top ISIS leaders over the weekend who had overseen the pillage of huge swaths of territory, barbarously committing thousands of rapes and murders. Let's pray for the complete dissolution of the Islamic State and other such movements around our world and that many of these religious extremists will have the experience of turning from Saul to Paul, finding the Lord's love and mercy and becoming His missionaries of the future! Such is the grace and goodness of the God we serve who can transform anyone who repents and yields him or herself!

Let's agree in faith and trust the Lord to bring about His breakthroughs in each of these international situations!

Every blessing,

John

FACE TO FACE WITH CHRIST, MY SAVIOR

"Now we see but a poor reflection . . . then we shall see face to face." (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Lyrics

1 Face to face with Christ my Savior,
Face to face--what will it be
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ who died for me?

Chorus:

Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!

2 Only faintly now I see Him
With the darkened veil between,
But a blessed day is coming
When His glory shall be seen. [Chorus]

3 What rejoicing in His presence,
When are banished grief and pain;
When the crooked ways are straightened
And the dark things shall be plain. [Chorus]

4 Face to face--oh, blissful moment!
Face to face--to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ who loves me so. [Chorus]

California Chaos:

Gov. Gavin Newsom grapples with wildfires, blackouts and more

With the state entering its traditional fire season, Newsom is grappling with massive wildfires everywhere from Los Angeles to the state's storied wine region, while also fighting to limit blackouts by Pacific Gas & Electric Corp., the state's largest utility provider -- in what is posing a complex and urgent challenge for his administration.

"The next 72 hours will be challenging," Newsom said during a press conference over the weekend. "I could sugarcoat it, but I will not."

On Monday, fire crews across the state were battling a blaze in the star-studded hills around Los Angeles, forcing thousands of people to flee in the middle of the night and destroying several large homes. Up north in the Sonoma wine country, firefighters were trying to get a handle on an almost week-old blaze that doubled in just a day to at least 103 square miles.
Adding to Californians' frustration was PG&E beginning another round of fire-prevention blackouts that are expected to affect nearly 600,000 customers in 29 counties, or about 1.5 million people, and leave them without power for possibly five days or more. PG&E's move comes as the company admitted that a PG&E transformer malfunction and one of its power poles falling over may have been responsible for two smaller fires that broke out in the San Francisco Bay Area over the weekend.
. . . "I have a message for PG&E: Your years and years of greed. Years and years of mismanagement. Years and years of putting shareholders over people. Are OVER," Newsom said Friday on Twitter. (Fox News) Read more
