The Elections in Canada

Trudeau expected to win a second term in Canada's parliamentary elections

Justin Trudeau, the embattled Canadian prime minister whose campaign was rocked by recent scandals, appeared set to win a second term and his Liberal party was projected to win the most seats in the 338-seat Parliament, giving it the best chance to form the next government.

"It's way better than I expected. It was conceivable that the Liberals would lose," said Robert Bothwell, a professor of Canadian history and international relations at the University of Toronto. "Trudeau is going to have to command a caucus that will not be as grateful than it was in 2015. A lot of them will say `Look we won but not because of you."'

The CBC projected that the Liberals won't win the majority of seats in Parliament and will have to rely on another party to pass legislation. Not since 1935 has a first-term Canadian prime minister with a parliamentary majority lost a bid for re-election. (Read more)

Focus on Israel

1. In rare formal visit, Israeli official attends anti-Iran conference in Bahrain - Times of Israel

A senior Israeli official took part in a security conference in Bahrain on Monday, in a fresh sign of warming ties between Israel and some Arab states.

Dana Benvenisti-Gabay, the head of the Foreign Ministry's regional security and counter-terrorism department, represented Israel at the conference in Manama, known as the Working Group on Maritime and Aviation Security.

The meeting, co-hosted by Bahrain, the US and Poland, is part of the so-called Warsaw Process, which started with the Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East that took place in the Polish capital earlier this year. That conference, co-sponsored by Poland and the US, was originally billed as part of global efforts to counter Iran, but was later toned down and instead focused on the vaguer goal of seeking stability in the Middle East.

2. Israeli Security Forces Arrest 7 Infiltrators From Jordan - Jewish Press

Israeli security forces arrested seven suspects on Saturday after they crossed into Israeli territory from Jordan. ""This morning, IDF forces identified seven suspects crossing from Jordan into territory of the State of Israel," the IDF said in a statement.

"IDF fighters, in cooperation with Israeli police and security forces, located and arrested the suspects, who were then transferred to security forces for further investigation."

There was no information released on where the infiltrators were captured, nor whether they were armed.

3. Syrian Kurdish military official calls on Israel to take action against Turkey - Times of Israel

An official in the Syrian Democratic Forces called on Israel on Monday to take action against Turkey's military incursion into northern Syria.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also expressed confidence that the Jewish people would not neglect the plight of Kurds in northern Syria, invoking its history of persecution.

"The State of Israel must work to put an end to this war that is killing women and children and expelling civilians from their homes," the official told The Times of Israel in a text message.

4. Bennett calls on Right to rally behind Netanyahu - israelhayom.com

New Right leader Naftali Bennett called on right-wing and haredi factions to stand by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warning that if he was forced out of office just because of looming indictments this would inflict major damage on Israel.

"My fellow friends on the Right," Bennett wrote on Facebook. "One thing must be clear: If law-enforcement officials take down Netanyahu just because of cigars and positive press online, this will be a deadly blow to our entire ideological bloc. Any leader on the Right that would follow Netanyahu would be too scared of confronting the media and law enforcement."

5. 'The Canary in the Coalmine of Global Hatred': UN Special Rapporteur 'Alarmed' by Growing Antisemitism on the Left, Right - algemeiner.com

The UN's Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief presented his findings on the rise of antisemitism to the General Assembly late last week, referring to the Jew-hatred as "toxic to democracy" and "a threat to all societies if left unaddressed."

Ahmed Shaheed, a Maldivian diplomat and politician, told the Assembly, "I am alarmed by the growing use of antisemitic tropes by white supremacists, including neo-Nazis and members of radical Islamist groups, in slogans, images, stereotypes, and conspiracy theories to incite and justify hostility, discrimination, and violence against Jews."

"I am also concerned about the increasing expressions of antisemitism emanating from sources in the political left and about discriminatory state practices towards Jews," he said.

6. Breaking! Warren says withholding aid to Israel is 'on the table' to curb settlements - Times of Israel

Leading Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren on Sunday indicated the US could withhold aid to Israel to force it to halt construction in settlements. Asked during a political event in Iowa on her position on making aid conditional on stopping settlement expansion, the Massachusetts senator said "everything is on the table. The US provides Israel with some $3.8 billion in military assistance annually.

"Right now, [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu says he is going to take Israel in a direction of increasing settlements. That does not move us toward a two-state solution," Warren said. "It is the official policy of the United States of America to support a two-state solution, and if Israel is moving in the opposite direction, then everything is on the table," she said, then repeated: "Everything is on the table."

Rivlin to give mandate to Gantz

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned the mandate to form a government to President Reuven Rivlin minutes after the end of the Simhat Torah holiday on Monday night, and two nights before the deadline for him to build a coalition.

Rivlin, who has received the message from Netanyahu, will hold consultations with faction representatives who request to meet with him.

By law, the president has three days to give the mandate to Blue and White leader Benny Gantz.

Sources close to Gantz said they do not expect the mandate to be given before Wednesday.

The Daily Brief

1. Over 200 sign letter criticizing DC bill to decriminalize commercial sex work - ABC News

More than 200 people, many of them former sex workers, have signed an opposition letter publicly criticizing a bill that would decriminalize sex work in the nation's capital.

The Community Safety and Health Amendment Act of 2019 was introduced by D.C. council member David Grosso, an independent, on June 4. If passed, it would remove criminal penalties for commercial sexual exchanges, such as prostitution, for those 18 years and older. The letter, obtained by ABC News, was sent directly to the council Oct. 1.

Rev. Dr. Marian Hatcher, the letter's author and a self-proclaimed survivor of the sex trade, is one of the bill's critics. Hatcher said in the letter that she doesn't oppose decriminalizing prostitution but feels the legislation would open the door for sex trafficking, brothels, pimping and violence against women in the district.

"We are horrified by the proposal to decriminalize informal brothels throughout the District. This, paired with the decriminalization of sex-buying, would surely fuel the trafficking and exploitation of countless other vulnerable groups," she wrote, calling on council members to vote against the legislation. (Read more)

- Father, this bill is likely to have horrifying ramifications across the board. We ask that it be soundly defeated. We pray for a move of Your Spirit among the sex workers, removing them from this lifestyle.

- "The evil will bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous." (Proverbs 14:19)

2. Trump Drops Plan to Host G-7 at His Doral Golf Resort - Daily Wire

The US president backtracked on a plan announced just days earlier to host the G7 summit at a Trump-owned resort in Miami. Critics asserted that the president sought to enrich himself by hosting foreign leaders.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday abandoned plans to host the next G7 summit at his own golf resort in Florida after coming under fire from Democrats as well as Republicans and other critics who said he sought to personally profit from his presidency.

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney had announced Thursday that the president planned to host the summit of industrialized nations at his Doral Golf Club in Miami because it was the "best place" among a dozen locations in the United States considered for the June 10-12 gathering next year.

"I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders. It is big, grand, on hundreds of acres, next to MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, has tremendous ballrooms & meeting rooms, and each delegation would have its own 50 to 70 unit building," Trump wrote on Twitter, rehashing arguments made previously.

"Would set up better than other alternatives. I announced that I would be willing to do it at NO PROFIT or, if legally permissible, at ZERO COST to the USA. But, as usual, the Hostile Media & their Democrat Partners went CRAZY!" he continued. (Read more)

- Lord, now the cost of this summit will be much higher, and at taxpayer expense. We pray Your peace will cover the President in spite of the media attacks.

- "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You." (Isaiah 26:3)

3. Trump says Pelosi should investigate Obama's Syria red line, Schiff should be 'deposed' - Fox News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., should investigate the "red line" that Barack Obama said he would enforce in Syria during his presidency, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., should be "deposed" over his actions in the Democrats' impeachment inquiry, President Trump claimed in a heated a Sunday night tweetstorm.

The president first blasted Pelosi for leading a congressional delegation to Jordan to inquire about Syria and said her attention should be focused elsewhere. He also claimed one million people died as a result of Obama declaring a "red line" in Syria in 2012, and never enforcing it.

"Pelosi is now leading a delegation of 9, including Corrupt Adam Schiff, to Jordan to check out Syria," Trump began. "She should find out why Obama drew The Red Line In the Sand, & then did NOTHING, losing Syria & all respect. I did something, 58 missiles. One million died under Obama's mistake!"

Pelosi defended the trip in a statement: "With the deepening crisis in Syria after Turkey's incursion, our delegation has engaged in vital discussions about the impact to regional stability, increased flow of refugees, and the dangerous opening that has been provided to ISIS, Iran and Russia." - Father God, we thank You that we now have a President who means what he says, and who says what he means. May others yield to this truth-telling leader, even as his words may at times pierce their hearts. Thank You, Lord, amen.

4. Turkey uses white phosphorus in the alleged 'safe zone' in Syria - Report - Jerusalem Post

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said that it was "collecting information with regard to possible use of chemical weapons" following reports white phosphorus was used by Turkish forces against civilians earlier this week, the Guardian reported on Friday.

Despite the US-brokered 120-hour ceasefire between Turkey and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces announced by US Vice President Mike Pence, media sources reported the fighting continues, with disturbing images showing severely burned children that were allegedly wounded during Turkish attacks on northern Syria.

One of the images shows 13-year-old Mohammed Hamid Mohammed, who was wounded in Tal Tamir in what Turkey claims is the "safe zone." Mohammed suffered severe burns to his upper body, losing most of the skin on his torso, neck and arms.

The boy's father, Hamid Mohammed, told the London Times that the boy was wounded in a Turkish airstrike in Ras al-Ain at midnight on Wednesday. "I heard the Turkish jet overhead just before the explosion," he said. (Read more)

5. Syrian Christians Brave Insecurity to Stay Behind and Help - Christianity Today

Though most of the fighting has stopped for now, Turkey's incursion on Kurdish-controlled northern Syria has left another humanitarian crisis in its wake.

Local churches as well as Christian organizations like Open Doors and Preemptive Love Coalition have prioritized caring for the citizens who took the risk to stay behind and helping the displaced return.

Last Saturday night, after three days of Turkish bombing, the Alliance Church of Qamishli met to make a decision. Would they flee for safety, or remain and help? To some degree they had no choice.

Fadi Habsouna, a father of two, was injured when missiles hit his home and ruined his shop. His wife is in critical condition. His grandfather's home was destroyed by a bomb. The pastor housed them in church-owned property, and decided to remain to assist the family, and others suffering similarly. The church agreed; only eight families would leave. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for mercy over these brothers and sisters, and Grace to help in time of need. We thank You for the ministries that have stepped up to help them. We ask for Your faith, strength, and favor to rest upon them for their courage.

- "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6)

6. Gabbard, in defiant video, links Clinton 'smears' to her previous Sanders endorsement - Fox News

Speaking directly to the camera in a video message posted on social media on Sunday, 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard suggested that Hillary Clinton recently "smeared" her as a "Russian asset" as payback for Gabbard's defiance of the party establishment in 2016.

"If they can falsely portray me as a traitor, then they can do it to anyone -- and in fact, that's exactly the message they want to get across to you," Gabbard, a Democrat, said in the video.

"If you stand up to Hillary and the party power brokers -- if you stand up to the rich and powerful elite and the war machine, they will destroy you and discredit your message. But, here is the truth: They will not intimidate us. They will not silence us." (Read more)

- Lord as Tulsi has called Clinton the "queen of warmongers," we see the war of words heating up. We ask that if there be any Divine purpose in this battle that You reveal it as quickly as possible.

- "Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile." (Psalm 34:13)

7. Beto's 2020 Legacy: Offering Frightening Glimpses Into the Authoritarian Left's Ultimate Goals - TownHall

Beto O'Rourke, the former Texas Congressman, continues to pander to the hard Left on various social issues, such as mandating LGBT compliance and gun confiscation.

The more potent effect he's having, it seems, is on the Right. He's steadily confirming the worst fears of conservatives by publicly and enthusiastically sliding to the bottom of several slippery slopes -- and he's attracting loud applause from progressive audiences, further entrenching center-right Americans' fears. The O'Rourke presidential campaign will likely soon come to an end, but his various antics and proposals will not soon be forgotten by many conservatives, who view his abrupt turn as an ominous sign of things to come. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You the Beto has revealed two of the ultimate plans of the enemy- to confiscate firearms, and to remove the tax exemption from churches. Let Your church be aware of the problems and bring us all into unity against these plans.

- "That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness by which they lie in wait to deceive." (Ephesians 4:14)

8. Pompeo: Schiff Running 'Kangaroo Court' In House Impeachment Probe - Newsmax

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday accused House Intelligence head Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., of running a "kangaroo court" in the chamber's impeachment inquiry.

In an interview on ABC News' "This Week," Pompeo said he hopes foreign service officers who testify in the inquiry "speak truthfully" and "completely."

"I only wish this was a process that merited such a response," he said. "This has been unfair to the n-th degree," he said, adding: "We're not able to protect the State Department . . .the United States of America . . . Adam Schiff ought to be embarrassed by the kangaroo court he's running." (Read more)

- Lord, we ask that Your Spirit move over the House Democrats, including Adam Schiff, and either bring them to their knees in repentance or remove them from office for their constant trickery and lies.

- ". . . that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:10,11)

9. State Department finds violations by 38 people in Clinton emails review - Washington Examiner

The State Department identified nearly 600 security violations in its now-completed review of email records of dozens of former agency officials and aides to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The investigation, which covered the 33,000 emails Clinton provided for review, found 91 "valid violations" attributable to 38 individuals, some of whom may face disciplinary action. Another 497 violations could not be tied to any specific person.

A nine-page unclassified report was sent to Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who is leading the congressional oversight of the security review, in a letter from Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs Mary Elizabeth Taylor dated Oct. 16.

The 36-month inquiry sought to determine "if any of the emails under review represented a failure to properly safeguard classified information" and whether any individuals could be determined to bear individual responsibility. Investigators reviewed thousands of documents, received hundreds of statements, and met with dozens of current and former State Department employees. The review was completed on Sept. 6. (Read more)

Christianity continues sharp decline in US

The sharp decline in Christianity is continuing in the US, according to new information provided by Pew Research Center. Pew reports that "telephone surveys conducted in 2018 and 2019, 65% of American adults describe themselves as Christians when asked about their religion, down 12 percentage points over the past decade. Meanwhile, the religiously unaffiliated share of the population, consisting of people who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or "nothing in particular," now stands at 26%, up from 17% in 2009." This speaks to the very fact that how the "Church" is perceived, is relating to people, and the approach toward making disciples, if any, is failing and things need to change.

The Daily Jot has been reporting for quite some time that the contemporary "Church" is failing. We as Christians can try to justify this sharp trend by saying we are in the end times and this is part of the "great falling away" prophesied in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a great falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." While this may be part of a great falling away, it is not likely "the" great falling away, as the prophecy is speaking of the day of Christ's return. What we have here in the United States is a time when the relevancy of the church is in question. The way we have been doing church isn't working. People don't want to attend and are turning away from Christianity. Let no man deceive you, something needs to change.

The battlefield of light vs darkness

The headlines everywhere are alarming. The narrative continues to focus on brutal visceral between Americans, economic disruption, government disruption, political disruption, social disruption. Disruption on all levels, according to the news media. There is no rest from disruption. It is so, because the media and the disrupters make it so. So there they are making their noise, accusing others of what they are doing, judging people from the content of their own hearts, spewing forth hate, derision, suspicion and darkness. What is it to us? Why do we have to allow them to occupy the battlefield of our minds? Does their darkness overcome the light of Christ and the Holy Spirit in each of us? I stand to say "NO."

In John 8:12, Christ said, "I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." In Matthew 5:14-16, Christ affirms this transfer of light, saying, "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Philippians 2:14-15 says, "Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world."
Proverbs 4:14-18 says, "Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day." Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." There is a pattern here that there is a path we all travel, but we do not have to travel in darkness because Christ is the light for the just. He transfers it to his disciples that they might also be the light of the world.
As you interact with friends and family, you do not have to take part in the darkness around us. You can be that light to others, that joy in the midst of sorrow. Everyone seems to be at everyone else. Peace is but a fleeting moment like an insincere greeting. Remember, though, that as the light of the world, you are also an ambassador of Christ, an emissary of the kingdom of God. We don't have to enter into the darkness because it already has been defeated by the King of Kings. Renew your mind. Have a perspective of light. As is written in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind." So let your light shine.

Statement by Kurdish Leader

Kurdish military leader says his fighters still want to work with US,
accuses Turkey of 'violating' cease-fire, 'ethnic cleansing'

The Kurdish military leader who serves as commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces revealed to Fox News' Jennifer Griffin in a telephone interview Sunday from his base inside Syria that Turkey's military has "violated" the planned cease-fire and was continuing to commit "ethnic cleansing."

Speaking through a translator, Gen. Mazloum Abdi said he was "deeply disappointed" in President Trump over the withdrawal of U.S. troops in northern Syria, and claimed there's still time for the U.S. to help the Kurds fighting for their lives.

He said the "ethnic cleansing" was continuing, confirming fears from Kurdish civilians in the region after similar atrocities began in the northwestern city of Afrin last year.

Mazloum told Griffin so far there have been more than 500 civilian casualties and over 400,000 Kurds displaced.
He added that despite the Turkish onslaught, Kurds were still guarding Islamic State prisoners, and he insisted his forces would rather still work with the U.S. than fight alongside Syria or Russia.

His requests to Trump: Keep U.S. forces in the region, stop Turkey's attacks and fulfill America's pledge to prevent ethnic cleansing in Syria.

Mazloum also said he believed ErdoÄŸan "passed some wrong information" to Trump. The general accused the Turks of spying on Kurdish positions while on joint patrols with U.S. forces in the region, calling it a "cheat and deceit trap for us."

Trump earlier this month ordered the bulk of the approximately 1,000 U.S. troops in Syria to withdraw after officials said Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan made it clear in a phone call that his forces were about to invade Syria to push back Kurdish forces. Turkey has considered many of the Kurdish fighters to be terrorists.
Between 200 and 300 U.S. troops are to remain at the southern Syrian outpost of Al-Tanf, mostly to counter threats from Iran.

Last week, Trump sent a letter to ErdoÄŸan encouraging him to "work out a good deal," threatening to "destroy" the Turkish economy if he continued his aggression against the Kurds. (Fox News)

TODAY! Pray for David Daleiden

TODAY! Pray for David Daleiden!

URGENT VERY SERIOUS PRAYER REQUEST

Please PRAY FERVENTLY tonight and tomorrow for David Daleiden. He will be testifying in the civil trial against Planned Parenthood who is suing him and Sandra Merritt and others for $16 million dollars.

Planned Parenthood has been building a case against him because of the corrupt judge and because the defense cannot show the portions of the videos that show criminality.

They are fighting a difficult battle. We know it's a spiritual one though, and if we are to get the victory, it will only come through serious FERVENT prayer (and fasting). Let's pray that God would flood the courtroom tomorrow with His presence and the case that has been built against him would fall down (it's built on sand anyways).

Let's also pray that God would give David peace, strength, wisdom, joy, and all the blessings of Numbers 6! May the jury see that he is indeed a righteous man who is exposing unrighteousness/wickedness.

Good news is that God is hearing our prayers - God used Harry Mihet to convince the judge to show a very incriminating video of Deborah Nucatola - the lady in the first video released in 2015. The other defense lawyers marveled and said it was a miracle that that happened. Soli Deo Gloria!

See Luke 18:1-8; pray for REVIVAL daily!

And SPREAD THE WORD/PRAYER REQUEST TO OTHERS!!!

Classic Hymns

TO GOD BE GLORY

"God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever." (Galatians 1:4-5)

Lyrics

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

Dramatic Footage:

Coach Disarms then Embraces Student, Preventing Potential School Shooting

A potential school shooting was prevented when a Portland, Oregon student holding a rifle was disarmed by a high school coach.

The heroic act was caught on surveillance video at Parkrose High School. Keanon Lowe, a track and football coach, is seen on the video walking into a classroom and then is dramatically seen emerging out of the classroom with a shotgun which he took from a student.

While backing away from the student another teacher runs over and takes the shotgun away from Keanon Lowe who then hugs the student, Angel Granados-Diaz. Angel tries to break free but Keanon continues holding the student.

ABC News reported, "Lowe, a former Oregon Ducks football player, told the station that when the student entered the classroom with the weapon, he was close enough that he lunged for the gun and grabbed it with both hands." About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
