"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

The Daily Brief

1. GOP Presses Obama on Israel Trip - Fox News

As President Obama, seen with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, prepares to visit Israel this week, House GOP lawmakers are calling on the president to explain why he won't address the Knesset.

Lord, only You know if it would be a good or a bad event for President Obama to meet with the Knesset in Israel. We pray for the right path to be chosen. We have a report that he plans to meet with young people instead - at a college or school. Lord, we ask for spiritual protection of the people of Israel. We bind seducing, deceptive, lying spirits. May President Obama, the U.S. Congress, and the leaders of Israel have Your instruction. May they all be touched by the Holy Spirit. We pray for those who have gone astray to come to the right path. In the name of Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Light, we pray. Amen.

- For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths. His own iniquities entrap the wicked men, and he is caught in the cords of his sin. He shall die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. (Proverbs 5: 21-23).

2. Graham digs in to ban mentally ill from guns, as Dems focus on assault weapons - Fox News

As Senate Democrats push ahead with a proposed ban on assault weapons and other gun-control legislation, Republicans are still trying to draw attention to what they see as the bigger issue -- keeping the mentally ill from owning firearms. A proposal on the issue was introduced this month by South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who on Thursday again expressed his interest in getting the measure passed.

"I believe that the best way to interrupt the shooter is to have a mental health system that actually records and enters into the database people who should not be able to buy a gun," Graham said. He made his remark while voting against a bill passed by the committee to ban assault weapons and high-capacity gun magazines.

- Lord, we pray great wisdom and favor for Lindsey Graham. We pray for all who are involved with the gun legislation, that they have wisdom and make the right decisions. May they call on You for wisdom as we stand in the gap for them. May the rights in the second amendment to the Constitution be preserved. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

- Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good. (Ecclesiastes 9:18)

3. Facing Bailout Tax, Cypriots Try to Get Cash Out of Banks - NY Times

In a move that could set off new fears of contagion across the euro zone, anxious depositors drained cash from automated teller machines in Cyprus on Saturday, hours after European officials in Brussels required that part of a new 10 billion euro bailout be paid for directly from the bank accounts of ordinary savers.

- Lord, we pray for the people of Cyprus, that they will be able to keep the money they have rightly earned. We pray that bankers would be honest and just. In the name of Jesus, our Provider, we pray. We pray for Your will to be done in the banking and financial world. Lord, we call for justice, truth, and mercy in the name of Jesus. Amen.

- No one calls for justice nor does any plead for truth. (Isaiah: 59:4)

4. Feds Swarm Metra Train After Detecting Nuclear Risk - CBS Chicago

It was stunning for those who watched Thursday night as federal agents investigated a possible nuclear threat at Chicago's Ogilvie Transportation Center.

- Lord, we pray protection for our transportation systems, and that any threats be exposed and brought down to do no harm. Hear, O earth! Let Your thoughts become fruitful and holy before the Lord that we may not have calamity. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Hear, O earth! Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people--The fruit of their thoughts, because they have not heeded My words nor My law, but rejected it. (Jeremiah 6:19)

5. Dirty bomb material secured at site in Philadelphia, thousands of sites remain in U.S. - Fox News

Raw, radiological material that terrorists could use to build a dirty bomb was secured in a Philadelphia school this week. On March 11, the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (a semiautonomous branch of the Energy Department) and Philadelphia's Temple University announced they had secured a device containing cesium 137 -- one of more than two dozen such elements used in medicine and industry that could be turned into a dirty bomb. As of Feb. 28, 2011, only 251 of these buildings had completed NNSA security enhancements. The agency hopes the rest will do so by 2025 -- leaving another 12 years of vulnerability to theft and misuse.

- Lord, let wisdom and knowledge enter the hearts and souls of all dealing with these security issues. May they have discretion. May any hidden sites and ammunition come to light. Especially, please protect our children from evil and destruction. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; who rejoice in the perversity of the wicked; In the name of Jesus, our Deliverer, we pray. Amen. (Proverbs 2:10-14)

The Persecuted Church

Today's Focus: The Persecuted Church

"The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive
to their cry . . ."
(Psalm 34:15)

1. Chinese Christian Prosecuted After Assisting Impoverished Seniors- CHINAaid News

A Christian who led nearly 200 peasant workers in Hebei province to successfully defend their workers' rights in 2010 has hired a rights defense lawyer to defend him against charges that he had organized a crowd to assault a government entity, ChinaAid has learned.

Qin Zhiyuan, a Christian from the city of Shahe in Hebei province, was prosecuted by the Xingtai People's Procuratorate in December 2012 in an apparent act of revenge by the local government, and he has hired rights defense lawyer Lin Qilei to handle his case.

2. Missionary beaten in Pakistan; hundreds of Christians remain homeless - Catholic Culture

Naeem Bhadhar, a Presbyterian pastor and missionary, was severely beaten by Muslim extremists after he tried to organize a protest in Kalaswala, a village 85 miles from Lahore, Pakistan's second-largest city.

The attack on Bhadhar came less than a week after a mob of 3,000 Muslims attacked a Christian neighborhood in Lahore and set fire to 120 homes. The "poor Christians of the neighborhood are now living in the streets, desperate for food and other needs," Lahore's Daily Times reported. "Their children cannot attend school or college due to the destruction and fear."

3. Christian Association on Nigeria Shocked by Government's Insensitivity towards Christian Security - allAfrica

Bauchi - Bauchi State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has expressed surprise over the state government's sudden lifting of the ban on commercial motorcycles (Achaba) in Bauchi metropolis, saying the action would heighten the state of insecurity in the area.

The state government had banned the operation of commercial motorcyclists in the wake of last month's uproar following the kidnap of seven foreigners in the state by Islamist sect and the alleged killings of some residents of Zango area of the state.

However, CAN said it was "shocked to hear that the state government, which earlier announced the ban on the operation of Achaba riders in the state, suddenly rescinded its decision.

Reacting to the lifting of the ban on Achaba, state Chairman of CAN, Rev. Lawi Pokti, said the lifting of the ban smacked of "insensitivity on the part of government over the killings of Christians and foreigners alike in the state.

White House threatens public safety; gives tax money to terrorists

Against the backdrop of giving over $250 million to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood-run government, $110 million to the Muslim Brotherhood-al Qaeda supported rebels in Syria, and an extremely costly education program with Mexico about food stamps (wildly successful, too, as the program has increased participation from 425,000 to 1.23 million since 2001), the Occupant of the Oval Office continues to threaten to furlough US Department of Agriculture meat inspectors. Fox News reports the administration describes it as a necessity of the sequester that could "lead to more foodborne illness, since all meat and poultry will still have to be inspected."

In other words, the president of the United States, who has control over how money appropriated from Congress is spent, has chosen to endanger his own citizens by cutting public health necessities and spending millions upon millions to fund terrorist-sponsored activities in the Middle East. There are laws against aiding terrorist organizations and both the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda are such. This president is giving terror-sponsoring associates tax money as a matter of policy while the safety of the US food supply is purposely undermined. He wants to disarm all Americans for the sake of children, yet he is purposely endangering the 81.5 million students who are customers of the public school lunch programs.

The Washington Times recently reported, "Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service official Charles Brown said he asked if he could try to spread out the sequester cuts in his region to minimize the impact, and he said he was told not to do anything that would lessen the dire impacts Congress had been warned of." It just happens to be that APHIS is responsible for meat inspection, leaving the impression that the president would leverage the health and safety of the nation to get his way on a Trillion dollar proposed tax increase and the expansion of a government already strapped with well over $16 TRILLION in debt. The $85 billion sequestration cut is little more than five-tenths of one percent of the debt.

The good people of America are like the prophet Habakkuk crying out, "O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou will not hear! Even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou will not save! Why do you show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? For spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment never goes forth: for the wicked do compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds (Habakkuk 1:2-4)." The answer to this question is that the Lord usually chooses to work through His people. So as long as we tolerate the actions of evil leaders, we will receive the reward of it. As Psalm 37:23 says, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

House Questions Sequester Cuts

House Questions Sequester Cuts

House Republicans have had enough of these games. Today the Oversight and Government Reform Committee took testimony from three federal agencies to examine the logic behind the implementation of the sequester cuts.

For example, why is the federal government threatening to furlough meat inspectors while it is promoting food stamps to Mexican immigrants? Why did the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency release thousands of illegal immigrants BEFORE the sequestration cuts took effect? Some were never supposed to be released and ICE agents are trying to track them down again.

I applaud House Republicans for holding these hearings. They should continue to keep pressure on the administration to go after waste and fraud. I hope the liberal media will give the hearings the coverage they deserve, but I won't hold my breath. (Gary Bauer)

Obama Threatens Easter Bunny

Obama Threatens Easter Bunny

Washington elites are aghast with reports that a 135 year-old tradition in the nation's capital may be the next victim of "draconian" budget cuts. Yesterday the White House blasted out messages to Easter Egg Roll ticket holders warning them that "this event is subject to cancellation due to funding uncertainty surrounding the Executive Office of the President and other federal agencies."

Evidently the "deficit hawks" in the White House -- the same folks who pushed a trillion-dollar takeover of health care and wasted billions "investing" in failed green energy boondoggles -- have decided that the best ways to save money are to cancel the White House tours and that pesky Easter Egg Roll.

Of course for Christians, the holy day has nothing to do with rolling eggs, but rather the rolling away of a rock from the tomb. But if the egg roll is in fact cancelled, I know there will be many disappointed parents and children.

That, of course, was the reason for sending the message in the first place. The White House is still trying to maximize the impact -- and the publicity -- of the sequester cuts, and it is once again using little children as "policy shields."

Now if this budgetary stalemate continues, it will be interesting to see if the Obama White House cancels its annual Ramadan dinner too. (Gary Bauer)

Obama goes to Jerusalem

Spot Report: Obama goes to Jerusalem

Think on this: " I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my name, Yahweh, there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there." . . ."If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remeber you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy." . . . "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; you walls are ever before me." (I Kings 9:3; Psalm 137:5-6; Isaiah 49:15-16)

Pray this: Father help us remember your eternal commitment to Jerusalem, to see it as the everlasting capital of Israel. Be pleased to use us to keep that before the American people including the churches and pastors in our land. Continue to cause the heartland of our country to support Israel. In Jesus name. AMEN!

Judge Rules that Feds Can't Force Domino's to Provide Contraception
to Employees

"It is in the best interest of the public that Monaghan not be compelled to act in conflict with his religious beliefs." - Judge Zatkoff

(Detroit)-Last Thursday saw a victory in the ongoing battle of conscience in relation to the health care law, when US District Judge Lawrence Zatkoff granted a preliminary injunction against the enforcement of the law's contraception provision.

Founder of Domino's Pizza, Tom Monaghan-who is Roman Catholic-has called contraception a "gravely immoral" practice. The health insurance he provides to his employees excludes coverage for contraception and abortion, according to the AP report.

Monaghan sold his remaining stock in the Domino's Pizza chain he founded, in 2004. He now runs Domino's Farms Corp., a management company in Michigan that is not connected with Domino's Pizza.

According to the AP report, the HHS mandate (new health care law) requires employers to offer insurance that includes contraception and abortion coverage or they could be fined. Domino's Farms was facing $200,000 yearly payments if the law was enforced against them.
Thomas More Law Center lawyer, Erin Mersino, whose group is representing Monaghan, noted, "The HHS mandate forces our clients to provide abortion-causing drugs to their employees when doing so is a direct violation of the teachings of the Catholic Church and our clients' sincerely held religious beliefs."
