1. 73% of New Jobs Created in Last 5 Months Are in Government - CNS News
Seventy-three percent of the new civilian jobs created in the United States over the last five months are in government, according to official data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Lord, we are thankful that people have jobs but we are concerned about so many jobs being with the government. Lord, we ask for Your Holy Spirit guidance in job creation and godly direction for the government and the workers. We do not want a corrupt government growing and adding workers for its own benefit. May corruption continue to be exposed. . . We pray this economy will prosper once again under godly ways. Show leaders what to do, we pray. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.
- "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go." (Joshua 1:7)
2. Wall St. Week Ahead: "Cliff" worries may drive tax selling - Reuters
Investors typically sell stocks to cut their losses at year end. But worries about the "fiscal cliff" - and the possibility of higher taxes in 2013 - may act as the greatest incentive to sell both winners and losers by December 31.
- Lord, we pray that investors would have the insight to know the right decision to make about their investments. We also pray for a settlement in the negotiations about these financial issues, that it be right and fair. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
- "A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished." (Proverbs 28:20)
3. NDAA Nullification Bill Passes Michigan House, 107-0 - The Examiner
The Michigan House of Representatives unanimously voted in favor of House bill 5768 (HB5768) today. Representative Tom McMillin, who introduced the bill, showed his excitement for it's passage, and his expectations for the State Senate. "My bill opposing NDAA's indefinite detention and taking away due process and prohibiting MI government from participating passed the House today. Onto the State Senate!"
Due to support from a wide coalition of grassroots activists across the political spectrum, including the Tenth Amendment Center and People Against The NDAA (P.A.N.D.A), the bill passed unanimously. The final vote was 107-0. HB5768 asserts that no State employee or agency will assist the Federal government - in any way - in the detainment of people under the 2012 NDAA. The Obama administration has aggressively argued in court that the executive branch has this power. Read more.
- Offer praise to the LORD for this victory in Michigan and offer prayer that all other 49 states would find the courage to do the same!
- "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go." (Joshua 1:7)
4. Al-Qaeda commander Abu Zaid al-Kuwaiti killed in US drone strike
- UK Telegraph
An American drone strike has killed a senior al-Qaeda commander in Pakistan's lawless tribal region, according to intelligence officials and statements posted on Jihadi websites.
- Lord, we are thankful for any evil to be removed. May drones and other intelligence continue to protect our military. We also ask for Your protection. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
- "When the wicked arise, men hide themselves; But when they perish, the righteous increase." (Proverbs 28:28)
5. Navy sends 2 more warships for N. Korean missile launch - Washington Times
The Navy has positioned two more warships in the Pacific to monitor North Korea's upcoming long-range missile launch.
- Lord, we thank You for our Navy and the protection it provides. We also pray that the North Korea launch not be successful and that any evil intent be stopped. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
- "The word of the Lord came again to me, saying: Son of man, when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch our My hand against it: I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it." (Ezekiel 14:12-13)
6. US Sends Muslim Brotherhood's Morsi 20 F-16 Warplanes - Fox News
Outrage Grows at F-16s for Egypt
Key lawmakers expressing concerns about the Obama administration's plan to send 20 F-16 fighter jets to Egypt, where new President Mohamed Morsi's allegiances are as uncertain as his grip on power.
Florida Rep.Vern Buchanan, who recently called for ending foreign aid to Egypt altogether, said the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Morsi government has been sending increasingly troubling signals to Washington, and giving it state-of-the-art fighter jets is a dangerous idea. "American tax dollars must not be used to aid and abet any dictatorial regime that stands with terrorists," Buchanan said.
Rep. Mac Thornberry, (R-Texas), vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, told FoxNews.com Egypt is a wild card under Morsi. "At this point, we don't know where Egypt is headed," Thornberry said. "We should be cautious about driving them away, but we should also be cautious about the arms we provide." Read more.
- Wouldn't it be wonderful if this president, or any president, were able to check with the American people, whose taxpayer money funds these projects, before going ahead with any such idea? Instead, offer praise for the members of Congress and the Senate who ARE keeping their eye on this ball, questioning why our funds should be used to strengthen hand of the man who is implementing Sharia law in Egypt, and thereby enabling the Moslem Brotherhood to enslave one more nation in its grip. ENOUGH! Pray for an end to this insanity. Pray!
- "End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God." (Psalm 7:9 NLT)
7. Russia and US in Geneva talks over future of Syria - UK Guardian
Russian and American diplomats have met in Geneva to discuss the future of Syria with the UN envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi, according to the Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, who insisted the meeting did not imply Moscow had softened in its support for the Syrian leader, Bashar al-Assad.
- Lord, we pray that good and not evil would come out of the Geneva talks. We pray for the leaders to come to understand truth and to lead in righteousness. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
- "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan." (Proverbs 29:2)
8. Paris: NATO-Arab Syria intervention imminent - DEBKAfile
Sources close to the French Defense Ministry reported Friday, Dec. 7, that a Western-Arab military intervention against the Assad regime is due to begin shortly with the participation of the US, France, Britain, Turkey, Jordan and other anti-Assad Arab nations. DEBKAfile: The reference is to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar's special forces. Our military sources add that the French aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle carrying a complement of marines is deployed in the Mediterranean, having joined the USS Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group and at least five British warships which are also carrying a large marine force.
In the second and third weeks of November, British and French naval forces, plus 2,600 special ops combatants from both nations, performed landing-and-capture exercises against fortified locations on the coast and mountains of Albania as practice for potential operations against similar terrain in Syria, where the Alawite Mountains loom over the coastal towns of Latakia and Tartus.
The troops landing there would head for the Alawite Mts. to prevent Assad and his loyal units from retreating to his mountain stronghold and fighting on from there - as he plans to do if he is forced to flee Damascus.
French sources told Le Point magazine that the NATO mission for Syria, including the UK and the US, would be modeled on the Western intervention in Libya in 2011. It would combine an aerial blitz with ground action by special forces for destroying Assad's chemical weapons stocks, his air force and his air defense systems. Read more.
- Lord God Almighty, we thank You that the nations are coming into alignment against the dangerous plans of President Assad in unleashing his chemical weapons against either his own people, other nations, or both. We ask Your hand of protection to rest upon the Allied troops on the ground in Syria, and for Your divine guidance to direct the paths of all who are making decisions thereby. We thank You that, as we call, You do answer, in Jesus Name. Amen.
- (For Assad's plans) "'Thus far you shall come, but no farther; And here shall your proud waves stop." (Job 38:10)
9. Inside the U.S.: Iranians Prepare Terror Campaign - WND
Iran's Revolutionary Guard is alive and well in the U.S. and the country's law enforcement officials ignore them at their peril, according to former U. S. Air Force officer Steven O'Hern. O'Hern says that the Revolutionary Guard, long an influential factor in the radical Islamic regime in Iran, does most of its surveillance and intelligence gathering through its proxy force, Hezbollah, considered by many to be a terror group.
"In the United States, the Revolutionary Guard uses more than one approach. Hezbollah operatives and sympathizers are present in large numbers in many parts of the United States and actively conduct reconnaissance missions that develop information, photographs, and diagrams of federal buildings, and infrastructure targets," O'Hern said. (World Net Daily) Read more.
- Our Mighty God, we look to You for safety from the enemies that our country's officials have allowed to enter our land and then do not hold accountable for spying activities. We ask that You would bring their activities into the public awareness so that law enforcement would have to follow through to remove this threat to our freedom and safety. We also ask that You would supernaturally cause their evil mission to fail and put wicked plans into confusion.
- "O God, the proud are risen up against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them." (Psalm 84:14)

How much do you want to be played?
Listening to and reading about the Fiscal Cliff debate, one would think that the Republicans want to raise taxes on the middle class and the Democrats want to cut government spending. What? Really? Well, the occupant of the Oval Office says that unless the Republicans pass his plan to avert the so-called Fiscal Cliff, there will be a massive tax increase go into effect. That's partly true. The Republicans are saying that if they cave in and accept the president's plan that there will be a major tax increase. That's partly true. Neither side wants to recognize that there is another option--drastically cut government spending and the size of government. Truth is, you are being played by both sides as if you are the middle.
So how much do you want to be played? The Republicans are holding as a bargaining chip over the Democrats' heads a massive tax increase on the middle class that is scheduled to go into effect when the Bush tax cuts expire in January. The Democrats are saying that the Republicans actually want these tax increases to go into effect, and are using the tax increases as leverage to get the Republicans to vote for higher tax rates on the "wealthy" with only negligible cuts in government spending. Republican leadership is mostly going along with the Democrat's idea that there needs to be a tax increase, with small spending cuts. Both parties are willing to vote to raise the debt limit on government borrowing.
So how much do you want to be played? Right now the government is borrowing 46 cents on every dollar it spends. The government is borrowing $4.8 billion per day. America has a $16.3 trillion debt--that's getting close to $52,000 for every citizen. The so-called Fiscal Cliff is the date that the government cannot borrow any more debt unless Congress passes a law saying the government can borrow more money. Both parties are willing to raise the debt ceiling so we all don't go off the Fiscal Cliff, but they want to extract their political "wins" from each other in doing so. In other words, they are playing a game of political politics and you are going to have to pay the bill no matter what happens.
The straw that broke the camel's back in 1776 was what amounted to a two cent tax on a bag of tea. Our forefathers declared independence and went to war with the most powerful military in the world. They set up a Constitution that limited the government's powers by actually naming them, and requiring by law that people be elected that the nation be governed by the consent of the people. The Founders did not want a government that took the enterprise of its citizens as did the kings in the European systems. The Aramaic Bible quotes Yeshua (Jesus) in John 10:13, "But a hired man runs because he is a hired man, and cares not about the flock, and a wolf comes snatching at and scattering the flock." In our case, the hireling and the wolf are one of the same. How much do you want to be played?
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

THE MADISONIAN
The Week of December 10 - 14
Fellow conservative patriots,
Once again, Congress will focus on trivial matters on the floor of both chambers this week. However, they will do all the important work on the so-called fiscal cliff in secret. The secretiveness of the negotiations should only worry American taxpayers. Nothing good happens behind closed doors in this Washington, DC scenario. We will keep you posted the moment we hear anything on what will likely be a new tax and spend scheme. When we hear something, my hope is that you will spring into action.
Speaking of action items, please see The Purge of Conservatives. It is time for us to push back.
For Liberty.
The Honorable Jim Ryun
Chairman of the Madison Project
The Purge of Conservatives
We've covered Boehner's purge of conservatives from key committees throughout the week and have been leading the charge against this chicanery (read more at our homepage). Boehner and other GOP leaders have admitted that they kicked off three conservatives from key committees because they did not meet the standards prescribed in a secret scorecard. They have refused to divulge the votes that served as the litmus test on the scorecard; however, it is clear that they have a lot to do with the debt ceiling and budget battles. Ironically, conservatives are being penalized for voting as conservatives and not with the Democrats.
Headed into the new week, we must keep up the pressure on leadership and expose their mendacity. This will weaken their ability to cut a deal with Obama and capitulate on the budget crisis. Moreover, the three ousted conservatives - David Schweikert (AZ), Justin Amash (MI), and Tim Huelskamp (KS) - have sent a letter to leadership demanding that they release their scorecard, which was used to remove them from their respective committees.
These decisions were made by a 31-member panel known as the Steering Committee. Please take a look at this list of members. If you reside in any of these districts, please call them and demand answers [telephone directory here]. They plan to vote one more time on Tuesday to finalize the decisions. Ask them if they support the decision to purge conservatives from committees, and if they were a part of the purge.
Even if your member is not on the Steering Committee, ask him/her of he'd be willing to sign onto a letter to leadership demanding that the conservatives be reinstated to their committees.
Food Stamp Nation

Food Stamp Nation
Leading into the election, the Obama campaign assured us that the economy was on the mend. Unemployment had dropped a little, and there were other signs that another recession may be averted.
But now with the election over there are plenty of counter indicators to that claim. A new report from the Labor Department shows 350,000 people left the labor force in November - nearly three times the number of people who got jobs. Economists are scratching their heads. What's going on?
Here's a shocking statistic: one million people were added to the food stamp rolls in August and September alone. In September, more than 607,000 people became eligible for food stamps.
Could there be a cause and effect relationship here? According to the Heritage Foundation, recent research indicates that government expansion of transfer payments, including food stamps, plays a role in discouraging potential workers from returning to the labor force.
There are signs of an economic recovery, to be sure. Housing is looking better, as are the oil and gas industries, no thanks to the administration's policies. But it appears that under Obama we really are creating two Americas. In one America, investors, entrepreneurs and workers are doing their best to overcome government regulations to put food on the table and create jobs. In the other America people are relying more and more on government programs. (Gary Bauer)
Supreme Court to Hear Gay Marriage Cases
|
||||
Court Paves Way for July Fireworks over Marriage
There may not be a consensus on marriage, but thanks to the Supreme Court, there will be a decision on it. Last Friday, the justices agreed to hear two cases that will ultimately define marriage at America's state and federal levels. For Californians and Congress, the simple fact that the Court accepted the cases is a victory. Had it not, two devastating rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Proposition 8 would have stood, undermining democracy and invalidating millions of votes.
After a three-state victory on November 6, some liberals believe the matter is already settled. "To me," said ABC News's Matthew Dowd, "the consensus has already emerged on this issue. It's just a question of . . . is the Supreme Court going to catch up, or get ahead of it, or put a block in the path of it?"
First of all, three states does not a consensus make. The Left has a long way to go to catch up to the block of 41 states that define marriage as the union of a man and woman--30 by constitutional amendment. People like Dowd must think that if you repeat these lies often enough, people will start believing them. Unfortunately for him, the opposition to same-sex "marriage" isn't fading. The nation will find that out soon enough if the Supreme Court overturns the marriage laws in 41 states. A decision like that would be more divisive than Roe v. Wade, which did anything but "settle" the abortion issue. Why? Because marriage policy, unlike abortion laws in the 1970s, has already been incorporated into the constitutions of a majority of states by the votes of the people. If the justices void those laws and amendments in July, it not only undermines our most fundamental social institution--but democracy.
Still, we remain confident that in the end, the U.S. Supreme Court will recognize that our founding fathers never created--or even implied--a right to redefine marriage in the Constitution. (Family Research Council)
News from North Carolina

Court: 'Choose Life' plates unconstitutional
A federal judge has ruled North Carolina's "Choose Life" license plates unconstitutional -- largely because pro-abortion groups don't have one of their own, despite their attempts.
Pro-abortion groups attached six amendments to the "Choose Life" bill, all of which were rejected. Slogans for the proposed pro-abortion plates included "Trust Women. Respect Choice" and "Respect Choice." The author of the bill, State Representative Mitch Gillespie (R), suggested they float their own bill rather than trying to camp onto the pro-life legislation.
Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council and a former Louisiana state legislator, says he is hopeful pro-life groups in North Carolina will press forward and appeal the judge's ruling.
"We had the same thing in Louisiana [where] I was a co-author of that bill a number of years ago," he said Tuesday on American Family Radio. "It was challenged in court under the same argument that it's discriminating because it doesn't allow the other side to have a voice." (Christian Action League of North Carolina)
Israel and the Chemical Threat
|
||||
ISRAEL KNOWS HOW TO DEAL WITH SYRIAN CHEMICAL THREAT
Lt. Col. Mordechai Kedar, a 25-year veteran of Israel's military intelligence has assured that actions are quietly being taken to deal with the potential threat posed by Syria's chemical arsenal. The US said recently its intelligence had detected that Syrian technicians at two sites had mixed precursor chemicals for the deadly nerve gas called sarin. Sources warned the chemical may have been loaded into aerial bombs or artillery shells. A question arises, if the nerve gas is loaded into aerial bombs, and if the bombs make it on to planes and are fired, what happens if they are intercepted and explode in mid-air either by the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system, or by Patriot missiles?
Kedar explained if an aerial bomb bearing a payload of sarin explodes in mid-air, "it is much less dangerous than if it blows up on your head. Sarin needs to be within a certain range, and at a certain concentration, in order to be effective." He added that missiles are much faster, but they too can be dealt with.
The aerial chemical weapons threat, however, is one reason Turkey has turned to NATO for assistance, Kedar noted. "This is why Turkey is deploying Patriots along the border with Syria." The intelligence veteran said that behind the Syrian scenes, "things are being done." But he assured that good professional people are dealing with this, who have all the information and are making decisions in accordance with the changing situation." (Jerusalem Post)
- Offer praise for the wisdom of the Israeli people, and for the skill that God gives them as they seek His face for assistance. Continue to pray for PROTECTION for the Israeli people -- both natural and divine -- as they lead the way in these perilous times. Amen.
- "This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go." (Isaiah 48:17)

A Commentary for Chanukah
By George Whitten, Editor, Worthy News
Revelation 12:11 -- "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
As parents trying to raise kids in this world, we're constantly reminded by the Lord of Proverbs 22:6, 'Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.' The Hebrew word 'train', in this passage is, 'Chanak' which can be translated, 'train up' or 'dedicate.' It's the root word from which we get the word, Chanukah.
The festival of Chanukah is not only a time of rejoicing, but also a time of 'dedication.' Let's be reminded of the cost that the Maccabees were willing to pay to make their stand against Antiochus -- who was led of the same anti-christ spirit that swirls around us today. They were willing to lay it all down and dedicate themselves to serving God.
As the spirit of anti-christ is released in this age, we also need to make a stand in the Spirit and consecrate ourselves for the battle before us. So this holiday season, let's not only rejoice in the victory we have, but continue to walk in it, wholeheartedly dedicated to serving God - no matter the cost!
