The Daily Brief - Friday, February 4, 2011

"For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations." (Psalm 22:28)

The Daily Brief

1. Iran could produce two nuclear bombs within two years, London think tank warns - UK Telegraph

Iran is definitely pursuing a nuclear weapon and could produce two bombs within two years, a leading London think tank has warned.

- Father, we pray you foil the plans of the enemy. Continue to thwart Iran's plans to produce these bombs. We pray confusion in their endeavors. We pray you turn them from the power of Satan to God.

- I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. (Acts 26:17-18)

2. Iran: Riots sign of Islamic awakening - Ynet News

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, says recent anti-government riots in Tunisia and Egypt are "a sign of the awakening of Islam inspired by the Islamic Revolution's victory in Iran."

- Father, we ask for justice and mercy over these riots especially in Egypt. We pray the schemes of the enemy to be annulled and voided. We pray for deception to be exposed. Protect these countries from the Muslim Brotherhood who desire to establish a radical Islamic rule wherever they can seize the opportunity.

- For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. (Isaiah 61:11)

3. World food prices surge to new historic peak - M & C

World food prices surged to a new 'historic' peak in January, for the seventh consecutive month, according to the updated UN Food and Agriculture Organisation's Food Price Index, the agency said Thursday.

- Father, we pray peace on the storms that have hit our nation and the world. We pray restoration to the crops that have been destroyed. We pray food prices will stop rising and remain stable. We declare Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our provider, who takes care of our every need.

- Do not be anxious then, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "With what shall we clothe ourselves? 32) "For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. (Matthew 6:31-32)

4. Virginia Attorney General Urges Supreme Court to Hear Health Law Challenge Now - Fox News

Virginia's attorney general has asked the Supreme Court to fast-track his state's legal challenge to the federal health care overhaul, saying state governments and businesses deserve to know the fate of the law as soon as possible.

- Father, we continue to intercede on the health care bill. Give our leaders wisdom and a plan to work out the many problems in this bill to best serve the people and their businesses.

- First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2) for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we made lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. (1 Timothy 2: 1-3)

5. Report backs massive Canadian oil sands pipeline - AP

A proposed oil pipeline from Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast could substantially reduce U.S. dependency on oil from the Middle East and other regions, according to a report commissioned by the Obama administration.

- Father, we pray for more proposals to come forth that would reduce our dependency on oil from the Middle East. Our lands are rich in many areas, so help us in becoming producers rather than a nation of consumers of overseas products.

- O Lord, how many are Thy works! In wisdom Thou hast made them all; The earth is full of Thy possessions. 28) Thou dost give to them, they gather it up; Thou dost open Thy hand, they are satisfied with good. (Psalm 104:24,28)

6. A. Unemployment falls to 9.0 pct., only 36K new jobs - AP

The unemployment rate dropped sharply last month to 9 percent, based on a government survey that found that more than a half-million people found work.

B. Labor Force Participation Plunges To Fresh 26 Year Low - ZeroHedge

At 64.2%, the labor force participation rate (as a percentage of the total civilian noninstitutional population) is now at a fresh 26 year low, the lowest since March 1984, and is the only reason why the unemployment rate dropped to 9% (labor force declined from 153,690 to 153,186). Those not in the Labor Force has increased from 83.9 million to 86.2 million, or 2.2 million in one year! As for the numerator in the fraction, the number of unemployed, it has plunged from 15 million to 13.9 million in two months!

- Father, we pray against any deception of these numbers. There are many people still unemployed, and we pray provision over their immediate needs.

- No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11)

Egyptian crossroads: prophetic decline of moral leadership yielding to rising Islam

The Islamic world is in an uproar. Journalists are trying to portray this as a region-wide revolution for the establishment of democracy in many of the currently oppressed nations. The people they interview are all talking about freedom and having their children live better lives than they. What they do not understand, and what the journalists also refuse to accept, that democracy under Sharia law is an oxymoron--it does not exist. The Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations are most likely leveraging their goals of establishing a radical Islamic rule on the backs of some very well intended people who will be used to foment disruption and crisis, then be enslaved once again to tyranny.

In the vacuum of leadership created by the crisis is the place where the more organized and cunning radicals can take control. This is what happened in Iran in 1978 and the people are still oppressed, even worse than they were under the grip of the Shah. But there is an even greater vacuum of leadership that will supersede the impact of the thousands of protesters in the streets--the lack of moral leadership by the United States. Global terrorism and instability began with Jimmy Carter and has experienced intermittent fits and starts since. Today, the world stands on the precipice of a surge in Islam and a decline of America--the ingredients needed to usher the world into the prophetic end times.

An article in the Israeli publication Haaretz by Ari Shavit is eerily prophetic. Shavit writes: "The West's position is not a moral one that reflects a real commitment to human rights. The West's position reflects the adoption of Jimmy Carter's worldview: kowtowing to benighted, strong tyrants while abandoning moderate, weak ones. Carter's betrayal of the Shah brought us the ayatollahs, and will soon bring us ayatollahs with nuclear arms. The consequences of the West's betrayal of Mubarak will be no less severe. It's not only a betrayal of a leader who was loyal to the West, served stability and encouraged moderation. It's a betrayal of every ally of the West in the Middle East and the developing world."

Shavit says, "The West has stopped being a leading and stabilizing force around the world. The Arab liberation revolution will fundamentally change the Middle East. The acceleration of the West's decline will change the world. One outcome will be a surge toward China, Russia and regional powers like Brazil, Turkey and Iran...When the United States and Europe bury Mubarak now, they are also burying the powers they once were." Shavit rightly discerns that the decline of America is precipitated by the moral character of our leaders. Proverbs 14:34 says, "Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." The prophetic consequences of our choices of leaders is soon to be revealed in a grand way.

Historical First: Bhutan May Grant Official Recognition to Christianity

(Bhutan)-For the first time in history, the government of Bhutan appears set to grant official recognition and rights to the Christians in the country who have been forced to meet in underground churches.

Dorji Tshering, secretary of the nation's religious regulatory organization, said that Christians would "absolutely" enjoy the same rights as other religions in Bhutan if given a seal of approval.

According to a Christianity Today report, an anonymous source said the government is likely to register only one Christian organization, and would expect it to represent all Christians in Bhutan-which would call for Christian unity in the country.

REPORT FROM EGYPT

" Go, set a watchman, Let him declare what he sees." (Isaiah 21:6)

Introduction

Forwarding a Report to You from a Watchman in Egypt

Dear Friends,

Once again, we continue to stand watch with you, in prayer for the nation of Egypt. We are asking for peace to return to this nation, and for the safety and the security of its people.

We are asking, too, for God's will to be done in the critical matter of who will lead the government of Egypt in the days ahead.

Today, we received an alert, written by a brother in the land named Rafik and forwarded to us by a good friend of our ministry, Rick Ridings. Below please find Rick's note of introduction, followed by Rafik's report.

We trust that this information will help you to "pray in the spirit and with understanding" as you bring the burdens of the people of Egypt before the Throne of Grace in this hour.

God bless you and keep you,

Sara Ballenger, President
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

A Note from Rick Ridings

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your prayers in response to our prayer alert sent last Friday. In less than a week, over 12,500 people have now viewed the prayer alert on YouTube.

We have been having some powerful times of prayer in Succat Hallel concerning the situation. We have made a new video prayer alert sharing some of what we sense the Lord saying as to how to pray.

In addition, we forward below a first-hand report sent to us by a national-level prayer leader in Egypt whom we highly respect. It shares a very different report than that being communicated in most media.

Many Blessings,

Rick and Patti Ridings

Report from Egypt

Forwarded email report from Egypt:

Dear friends,

I am writing this to you as a witness to what is going on from the streets of Cairo over the last few days. We have been following the developments since January 25th, which started with a large group of Egyptian youth taking to Tahrir square in an anti-government protest with specific demands. I know some of these people who were in that group and I talked with them. What is happening now has nothing to do with this original protest! What is happening right now is a conspiracy to topple Mubarak from outside the country!! I am not a conspiracy theorist, but let me tell you what I have personnally witnessed on the streets of Cairo.

I want to share first what the LORD told me on Friday morning.

I went to the LORD in prayer on Thursday evening, praying like many others for protection and for the restoration of peace and security in my land. I told the LORD:

"Father, answer my prayers with rain", which He has several times before. I went to sleep. I woke up on Friday morning and went directly to prayer. Immediately, I sensed a strong urgency from the LORD saying: "As the people of Egypt presented their requests to Mubarak, I am calling on My people to rise up before me and present their requests to me for their nation". I went on to hear the LORD:

"Let the Holy Council assemble". I didn't understand who this Coucil was, but I knew in my heart that the LORD meant that there are people in my land that are called by the LORD to stand before him as His Holy Council with authority to make declaration over the land, to establish the Kingdom in the land. My demands to the LORD were not political ny nature. I prayed for "good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, healing for the brokenhearted, and the acceptable year of the LORD" as the Holy Spirit gave guidance. The LORD spoke to me the words "JUSTICE" and "TRUTH". As I went to talk with Rania afterwards, she told me that she had been awake all through the night, and that IT RAINED around 12:45 am. It was very strong, but not for a very long time (a few minutes). I knew then that it was the LORD. The LORD spoke Psalm 97:1-2:

The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice. Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

Indeed, there had been unusual clouds and very thick fog in December over Cairo, unprecedented in frequency and intensity. Again, the words TRUTH (or righteousness in the English translation) and JUSTICE resounded.

As we followed the unfolding of events including the announced change in government and president Mubarak's speech, we wondered why the international news media is focusing only on the thousands in Tahrir square who are escalating their demands and refusing dialogue. The news media is reporting this as "the people of Egypt" wanting Mubarak to leave immediately. Did they ask the "people of Egypt?". For one, they did not ask me! Where are those, like myself, that want change and reform, but accept the changes that Mubarak is proposing, and want a peaceful transition through elections in September?

We decided to take to the streets to voice our opinion. On Tuesday February 1st we went to Mustafa Mahmoud square in Mohandessin. There were about one thousand people there around 3:30 pm. (yes, we broke the curfew). the crowd grew to about 2500 by 5:00 pm. People were calling their friends over the phone telling them to come. We left at about 6:30 pm and returned yesterday, Wednesday, starting at 11:00 am. The small group had swelled to TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE standing together with banners saying things like:

- yes to stability, yes to Mubarak

- give change a chance

- we are sorry Mr. president

- we accept dialogue, we trust you

- no to ElBaradei, no to the muslim brotherhood (many like this one)

- we are the Egyptians, where is Al-Jazeera, let them come and see

- no to corruption, no to vandalism

- we got what we asked the president for, so why are people still in Tahrir? Who are they? What do they want?

etc., etc., etc.

By 2:00 pm, the crowd had grown to SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, maybe up to a million, stretching from Sphinx square to Sudan street. We had a great sense of unity and victory. We met with people who were in the original protest in Tahrir square who decided to join us saying: we got what we asked for, and now we accept Mubarak's changes and proposals".

We left around 4:15 pm. The numbers had grown even more, POSSIBLY OVER A MILLION. As we drove home we saw the same slogans on banners all over the city, on cars, on walls, on shop windows. We learned that similar demonstrations are taking place ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, IN MAY DIFFERENT CITIES. THIS IS THE CRY OF THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT THAT IS BEING TOTALLY IGNORED BY THE INTERNATIONAL NEWS MEDIA.

Is this on purpose??!!! I am perplexed!!! I am wondering: How come CNN, the BBC, and others are reporting ONLY the anti-government protests as the voice of the people? This is not JUSTICE, this is not TRUTH. There have been reports that these people are being paid by the government. NOT TRUE! I was there with many many others. I SAW THE STREETS.

Now to the situation in Tahrir square. Only a few people (hundreds?) are still there from the original protesters. They have been slowly replaced by other HIGHLY ORGANIZED GROUPS. They all have the same model of cell phones. They all have the same blankets (eye witnesses). THESE ARE NOT THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT.

Some witnesses claim that they don't look Egyptians, and don't sound Egyptians (different accent, different dialect). THIS IS A BIG ORGANIZED COUP TO TRY TO CONVINCE THE WORLD THROUGH THE MEDIA THAT EGYPT WANTS MUBARAK TO GO, AND THE MEDIA IS PART OF THE DECEPTION. People in Tahrir square are escalating the situation on prupose to topple President Mubarak FOR THEIR OWN HIDDEN AGENDAS. This is TYPICAL OF THE MUSLIM BROTHERS, AND EVERYBODY IN THE STREETS OF CAIRO KNOWS THIS. We heard people on the streets saying that the plot to take over the country is now clear.

THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS. The escalation of violence in Tahrir square is because of this. Egyptians who love Egypt, the millions that took to the streets yesterday, want this to end. They fully understand that president Mubarak is between a rock and a hard place, that he cannot quench the unrest in Tahrir through the army, so the people want to go to Tahrir to disperse the crowds there by themselves. People in Tahrir are vastly outnumbered. If Egyptians go the Tahrir square to take control of the situation, more chaos will erupt, giving a chance to the international media to blame the President even more.

If Egypt falls, then neighbouring countries are going to fall one after the other. WE NEED PRAYER, WE ASK FOR TRUTH, WE ASK FOR JUSTICE, and above all LORD, in wrath, REMEMBER MERCY. Stand with us. The Lord calls Egypt "My people". He is calling on His HOLY COUNCIL in the land of Egypt to stand before Him, to make declarations in the heavenlies to establish a new 'constitution' in the land based on the principles of the Word of God, to establish a 'new foundation' for His kingdom to come. Pray for the schemes of the enemy to be annulled and voided. Pray for deception to be exposed. We humble ourselves and pray. We seek the Face of the LORD. We turn from our wicked ways.

LISTEN TO US LORD, FORGIVE US, HEAL OUR LAND. In the Name of Jesus.

In Him, standing for God's purposes in Egypt,

Rafik
