Pentagon approves sending 1,000 more troops to Mideast
as US releases new photos of tanker attack linked to Iran

A note to our readers:

The situation in Iran is growing more tense by the hour. For that reason, we are choosing to publish several articles related to developments that have occurred over the weekend on this issue, below. Thank you for praying for President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as they seek the Lord's wisdom to diffuse this difficult impasse.

1. Pentagon approves sending 1,000 more troops to Mideast as US releases new photos of tanker attack linked to Iran - Fox News

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) released new images Monday showing the aftermath of mine attacks against two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman last week, including some images purporting to show Iranian forces removing an unexploded device from the hull of one of the vessels.

Hours later, Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said he had approved a request from CENTCOM to send approximately 1,000 additional troops to the Middle East "to address air, naval, and ground-based threats" in the region.

"The recent Iranian attacks validate the reliable, credible intelligence we have received on hostile behavior by Iranian forces and their proxy groups that threaten United States personnel and interests across the region," Shanahan said. "The United States does not seek conflict with Iran. The action today is being taken to ensure the safety and welfare of our military personnel working throughout the region and to protect our national interests." (Read more)

2. Germany, UK warn Iran over enrichment threat; EU takes wait-and-see approach - Times of Israel

LUXEMBOURG CITY, Luxembourg - Germany and Britain on Monday warned Tehran not to breach uranium stockpile limits set by the 2015 nuclear deal, as the EU's diplomatic chief dismissed Iranian threats as "political dialectics."

Iran set a 10-day countdown on Monday to exceed the 300-kilogram limit set on its enriched uranium stocks, dealing another blow to the crumbling nuclear accord signed by Tehran and six international powers.

The EU has battled to save the agreement since US President Donald Trump withdrew and reimposed sanctions, but Iran said it would step back from exceeding the 300-kilogram limit on June 27 only if "other parties live up to their commitments." (Read more)

3. Will US and Iranian officials be at Russia's Ufa meeting together? - Jerusalem Post

Russia is hosting a meeting in Ufa this week that brings together dozens of countries to discuss security issues. In 2018 in Sochi, 118 countries participated. This year, Russia's Tass News Agency said that a US representative may attend. Iran's Admiral Ali Shamkhani, secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, is also traveling to Russia for the event.

In March, the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, said that Russia is working with many countries to "build mutually beneficial terms." The Ufa conference is supposed to work on international security between July 17-20. This includes discussions about counter-terrorism and security cooperation. Russia just returned from importance summits in Central Asia where Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his counterparts from Iran, China and other countries.

The Ufa meeting will showcase Russia's leading role in working with countries, some of which increasingly challenge the US in various fields. Tass reported, however, that a US Security Council official will attend Ufa, even at this time of heightened tensions with Russia. Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexander Venediktov affirmed this in an interview Sunday. "The Americans have been skipping our forum in recent years," he said. But he was hopeful for this year. (Read more)

4. Iranian official calls IAEA inspectors 'roaches,' says Tehran should quit NPT - Times of Israel

The head of an Iranian academic institute that conducts nuclear research has called for the Islamic Republic to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and renegotiate the 2015 nuclear deal, and repeatedly dubbed international nuclear inspectors "cockroaches."

In an Iranian Channel 2 television interview translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute monitoring group, Mohammad-Javad Larijani, who heads the Institute for Research and Fundamental Sciences, criticized Iran's membership in the NPT, the international treaty aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons.

"It wouldn't be a bad idea for us to suspend our commitment in the wake of all this pressure and renegotiate it from the beginning," Larijani said in the interview broadcast June 12. (Read more)

Prayer Focus

Ask God to expose Iran's lies and open the eyes of the international community to the danger it poses, not just to Israel but to the world. Pray that the Lord will put a stop to Islamic regime's development of nuclear weapons and its plans to harm its enemies.

Scripture

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans. (Job 5:12)

Focus on Israel

1. Hamas: We're entering second phase of 'ceasefire' - Israel National News

Hamas on Monday claimed that the second stage of the "agreement" with Israel had begun. According to Hamas, the second stage includes the transfer of Qatari money to Gaza, as well as improvement in Gaza's infrastructure and the expansion of trade.

Israel has not responded to Hamas' announcement, but Gazan terrorists have increased the number of incendiary and explosive balloons sent into Israeli territory.

On Monday alone, incendiary balloons sparked a number of separate fires in Israel's Eshkol region.

The deputy ambassador had arrived at the Erez crossing and received the Qatari money from a special source.

The Qatari ambassador, Mohammed al-Emadi, also entered the Gaza Strip through the Erez crossing to monitor the distribution of the money, which will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning and continue until 5:00 p.m.

Hamas has arrested the terrorist operatives responsible for rocket attacks launched from the Gaza Strip on Thursday, sources in Gaza told i24NEWS Sunday. The sources revealed that the operatives were Salafi Muslims and belong to the organization known as "Defenders of Al-Aqsa."

4. Smotrich Under Fire from Left for Entering Netanyahu's Security Cabinet- Jewish Press

Members of the leftwing opposition on Monday engaged in vehement attacks on the appointment of MK Bezalel Smotrich as interim transportation minister and member of the political-security cabinet. Following the announcement of the appointment of the chairman of the National Union, along with of Habayit Hayehudi chairman MK Rabbi Rafi Peretz as education minister, the opposition voiced its fierce objections to both appointments.

Smotrich, who has fought for a long time for the justice portfolio, on Monday posted on his Facebook page: "The Prime Minister offered us the education and transportation portfolios, as well as membership in the political-security cabinet. Sitting at the government and cabinet tables is important to our ability to influence and lead, and religious Zionism should be there even in this twilight period."

5. Top Officials Gather in Bucharest to Coordinate Global Fight Against Antisemitism - Algemeiner

Several dozen top officials from around the world involved in combating antisemitism kicked off a first-of-its-kind conference in the Romanian capital of Bucharest on Monday.

The two-day event was organized by the World Jewish Congress (WJC) and the Romanian government. The purpose of the gathering, the WJC said, was to bring together "global Jewish leaders and global counter-antisemitism coordinators to discuss the key issues facing Jewish communities today and deliberate best practices going forward."

Addressing the conference on Monday, European Commission Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism Katharina von Schnurbein, said, "There is a need in all EU member states to step up efforts [against antisemitism], see where the gaps are, and make sure they are being filled and implemented. The big challenge will be to push back against antisemitism - not just contain it."

1. GOP Senators Introduce Constitutional Amendment to Protect U.S. Flag - CNSNews.com

On Flag Day, June 14, Senators Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) reintroduced a constitutional amendment to outlaw the desecration of the American flag.

"A flag worth dying for is a flag worth protecting," said Sen. Cramer in a press release. "While we should always be mindful of First Amendment rights, the American flag signifies the founding principles that countless men and women have given their lives to preserve."

"Adding a constitutional amendment to protect this symbol of freedom and liberty is not an attack on another constitutional amendment; rather, it is an affirmation of the unifying principles our nation stands for," he said. (Read more)

- Thank You, Father, for this action. May the support for the passage of this amendment grow over time until it becomes the law of our land. Amen.

- " . . . if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." (Matthew 18:19,20)

2. Supreme Court tosses ruling against bakers who refused cake for gay couple - Fox News

The Supreme Court on Monday threw out a ruling against two Oregon bakers who refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.

The couple, Melissa and Aaron Klein, cited religious beliefs as their reason for not providing services for a gay wedding. This touched off the latest in a series of such cases making headlines in recent years. During the court's last term, justices ruled in favor of a Colorado baker in a similar situation, stating that a state body demonstrated improper hostility toward the baker's religion in finding that he violated a state anti-discrimination law.

On Monday, the Supreme Court sent the Klein case back down to a lower court "for further consideration in light of" their Colorado decision.

The central disputes in the case -- which pits LGBT rights against religious freedom considerations -- have yet to be addressed by the Supreme Court. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that the Courts will ultimately make the right decision, and allow freedom of religion in these cases. We pray that wisdom from Your Throne will come.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

3. African migrants pass through San Antonio and swiftly fan out across the country- Washington Examiner

Roughly 300 Congolese and Angolan citizens who arrived in San Antonio the first week of June after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border days earlier have all briskly departed the city for destinations across the country, some with fuzzy plans based partly on hope.

The hundreds of family members and single adults from Central Africa first showed up June 4 at the southern border's Eagle Pass and Del Rio towns in south-central Texas. The migrants surrendered to Border Patrol agents and claimed asylum after crossing the Rio Grande.

The agency did not, as it is supposed to, turn families over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Instead, it released families onto the streets of Eagle Pass and Del Rio, according to two government and nongovernment officials with first-hand knowledge of the matter. The African migrants then bought bus tickets to either San Antonio or Austin, according to San Antonio Interim Assistant City Manager Colleen Bridger. (Read more)

- Lord, Congo and a few other African states have been experiencing an outbreak of Ebola. Moving these migrants across the nation could prove to be deadly. We take authority over any sickness, disease, or malady and we declare it to be null and void.

- "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness." (Psalm 91: 5,6a)

4. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Signs Sweeping Bill Banning Sanctuary Cities - Breitbart

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) made good on his campaign promise to stand against impractical and dangerous policies that promote illegal immigration and signed a bill into law Friday, effectively banning sanctuary cities in his state.

"Earlier this year, I made a promise that we would ban sanctuary cities in Florida and today we are delivering on that promise," DeSantis announced in a tweet. "I am proud to sign the bill presented to me by the FL Legislature to uphold the rule of law and ensure that our communities are safe," he added.

At the beginning of the year, DeSantis asked the Florida Legislature to craft a bill that would "uphold the rule of law and ensure that no city or county jurisdiction can get in the way of Florida's cooperation with our federal partners to enforce immigration law," DeSantis spokeswoman Helen Ferre said, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

"Public safety is paramount and local law enforcement agencies can and should work with the federal government to ensure that accountability and justice are one in our state," she added. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord for this bill. We ask that it be preserved in the courts, and kept safe from destruction.

- "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." (Psalm 142: 5b)

5. War College cancels speaker on Islam - Washington Times

A Muslim activist group has pressured the U.S. Army War College into postponing a speech by Ray Ibrahim, an expert on the historical roots of Islamic terrorism, after the group falsely labeled him as a racist and "Islamophobe," he said.

The Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group critics say is linked to the Islamist international group Muslim Brotherhood, protested the speech in a letter to the college superintendent, Army Maj. Gen. John S. Kem, and provost James G. Breckenridge. Purporting to represent the "Muslim community" in Pennsylvania, CAIR stated that it opposed Mr. Ibrahim's planned June 19 speech on "Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War Between Islam and the West," which is also the title of his latest book.

The group asserted that Mr. Ibrahim's publicly stated view - that Muslim hostility for and terrorization of the West is not an aberration but a continuation of Islamic history - has the potential to instigate hatred against Muslims.

"We also do not believe that there is any benefit to the U.S. in promulgating the inaccurate thesis that Islam is our enemy, as this stereotype only alienates millions of Muslim-Americans," the May 28 letter states. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that the truth of Mr. Ibrahim's research will find a place in the Army War College in spite of the pressure by CAIR. Let truth be revealed, and the tactics of intimidation be destroyed.

- "Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven." (Psalm 85:11)

6. McConnell: 'I Am Indeed the Grim Reaper When It Comes to the Socialist Agenda'- Breitbart

Thursday on Fox News Channel's "The Ingraham Angle," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) embraced House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's moniker, labeling him as the "grim reaper."

McConnell earned the title given he has not allowed bills passed by the Democrat-led House of Representatives to proceed in the Senate.

"She's got it right," he said. "She's got it absolutely right for the first time in my memory, I agree with Nancy Pelosi. I am indeed the Grim Reaper when it comes to the socialist agenda that they've been ginning up over in the House with overwhelming Democratic support and sending it over to America - things that would turn us into a country we would never have been sending it over to America. They're on the way to doing some additional things."

In addition, the ones I've already done, the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and by the way, you may have mentioned this on your show, but they plan to make the District of Columbia State that gives two new Democratic senators, Puerto Rico a state gets two more new Democratic senators and as a former Supreme Court clerk yourself. You've surely noticed today plan to expand the Supreme Court," McConnell added. "So, this is full-bore socialism on the march in the House. And yeah, as long as I'm the majority leader of the Senate," none of that stuff is going anywhere. (Read more)

- Father, thank You that Senator McConnell is guarding our Republic from socialism. We ask for Your protection for him, and all the Senators that refuse the agenda of the Democrats. We ask Your strength for each one, and truth to rule in the Senate Chamber.

- "For the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard." (Isaiah 52:12)

7. Billy Graham magazine calls out 'lie of progressive Christianity'- WND

The mantle of "progressive Christianity" is being claimed by more and more people these days - some megachurches, some old-line denominations and even some politicians. It's roughly a gospel that regards the Bible as a good book but insists it must be reinterpreted to comport with contemporary society.

But now Decision Magazine, the publication launched by Billy Graham and still run by his organization, has unleashed a broadside against that belief system. Its June front-page headline, "The lie of 'progressive Christianity,'" is plastered over the image of Pete Buttigieg. He's the Democratic presidential hopeful who just a few weeks ago attacked the faith of Vice President Mike Pence, whose beliefs align with traditional Christian views of marriage and sexuality.

"Back in April when Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg threw stones at 'the Mike Pences of the world' for their historic Christian beliefs about marriage, sexuality and sin, he drew rapt attention from the news media. He also raised the visibility of a religious movement that claims the term Christian but denies the full authority of Scripture on which 'the faith once for all delivered to the saints' (Jude 3, NKJV) is based," writes the author of the article, Jerry Pierce.(Read more)

- Father, we are truly grieved at this issue of the emergence of "progressive Christianity." We pray for repentance on the part of Mr. Buttigieg and his homosexual partner, as well as churches who twist Your Word to justify sin.

- "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

8. Transgender madness in Vermont - American Thinker

The State of Vermont is on the verge of paying for the mutilation of the reproductive organs of children in the name of "affirming gender identity." Alas, this is not satire.

The Burlington Free Press enthusiastically reports: Vermont health insurance regulators are planning to tweak Medicaid rules so transgender youth no longer have to wait until age 21 to seek gender-affirming surgery.

The changes are aimed at removing barriers for people seeking a suite of surgeries in order to alleviate gender dysphoria, a conflict between a person's gender identity and physical gender, said Nissa James, policy director for the Department of Vermont Health Access.

Gender-affirming surgeries covered by Medicaid include 16 types of genital surgery, as well as breast augmentation or mastectomy, a surgery that removes the whole breast. (Read more)

- Lord, the steady destruction of our youth is moving forward unchecked by the government. You are being ignored, and treated as a myth. We call forth the Name of Jesus over America and apply the cross of Christ against these plans to destroy our children.

- "Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it." (Colossians 2:15)

9. 'Completely Erroneous': New York Times Busted for Fake News Story on Harriet Tubman $20 Bill - Breitbart

The U.S. Treasury is denying a piece from the New York Times which accused the Trump administration of delaying the release of the $20 Harriet Tubman bill and doing so for political reasons.

The New York Times ran a piece Friday, wrought with speculation on Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's rationale for "delaying" the release of Harriet Tubman's $20 bill.

Former Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew set the process in motion in 2016. Proponents of the bill change hoped that it would be completed by 2020, in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment. However, during an appearance before the House Financial Services Committee in May, Mnuchin noted that a 2020 rollout was improbable- if not impossible- due to daunting technical issues. Mnuchin indicated that the redesigned bill would make an emergence in 2028 with designs coming out two years prior. (Read more)

- Father we once again pray that all "fake news", all agenda-driven "news" be removed. We ask for truth to be revealed in every area.

- "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil."
(Proverbs 3:7)

10. Hundreds of Thousands Dressed in Black Rally to Demand Hong Kong Leader Steps Down- Newsmax

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam apologized on Sunday as hundreds of thousands of black-clad protesters maintained calls for her to resign over her handling of a bill that would have allowed people to be sent to mainland China for trial.

The chief executive issued the rare apology one day after she indefinitely delayed the extradition bill, which sparked one of the most violent protests in the city in decades.

A government spokesman said that poor government work over the bill had led to "substantial controversies and disputes in society, causing disappointment and grief." Lam "apologized to the people of Hong Kong for this and pledged to adopt a most sincere and humble attitude to accept criticisms and make improvements in serving the public," the statement added.

Protesters formed a sea of black along roads, walkways and train stations across Hong Kong's financial center to vent their frustration and anger at the bill and the government's handling of the resulting demonstrations. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the people of Hong Kong to be free of Communist influence. We ask that Your Holy Spirit move over the entire nation of China, repairing the breach, saving souls and bringing heart change to the leadership.

- "He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly."
(Psalm 147:15)

Names change, but hate hasn't

Christianity is under attack in American politics and the Church should wake up and take action under this current Christian-friendly president to become relevant and make disciples. There is a group of people who are out to gain power, and in doing so, have absolutely no reservation about destroying whatever is in their way to gain that power. They will use any method that they believe will help them and they will eliminate anyone or anything that will hinder them. If you do not believe this is ingrained in their life's philosophy, let' take a step back to 2005 and peek into a debate that arose in the halls of Congress. Check out the themes, the names and the political party, and ask yourself, 'what has changed?'

On Monday, June 27, 2005, the Daily Jot reported: "Last week, the House of Representatives was considering the Defense Appropriations bill. Wisconsin Democrat David Obey wanted an amendment to reflect the opposition of Congress against religious evangelism at the Air Force Academy. Indiana Congressman John Hostetler was offended and said that Democrats will take any opportunity they can to demonize Christians. Democrats immediately leapt to their feet and demanded Hostetler be censored for his accusation. Hostetler said later, "If you tell Christians they can't tell others about their faith, then they can't exercise their Christian religion." He said proselytizing involves a forced conversion to Christianity, something that did not occur at the academy.
"In the weeks leading up to this minor explosion on the House floor, Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean mocked the Republican Party by saying it was comprised of "white Christians." New York Democratic Senator Hillary Clinton said at a fundraiser that the Republican approach to politics was . . . messianic . . . meaning that, in her words, "Some honestly believe they are motivated by the truth, they are motivated by a higher calling, they are motivated by, I guess, a direct line to the heavens." The legislation introduced by both sides is also telltale. Typically, Democrats are busy with bills such as the Unification of American Families Act, a pro-homosexual bill, while Republicans are trying to stop child molesters.
"Republicans are not the "be all end all" for Christianity by any account, but distinct battle lines are drawn and fought each day. Christians have been given a Christian-friendly president with time to turn hearts toward God, yet the church appears to take this as a respite rather than as a time of labor. This is not a time to be angry at misguided politicians in either party. Ephesians 6:12 says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." It is a time to act. For can you imagine our nation's treatment of Christian values under, say, President Hillary Clinton?" That was nearly 15 years ago. Today is similar. Be encouraged that the Lord is so faithful to give us so many chances to turn hearts toward him. But for how much longer?

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Illegal Aliens Sue Border Patrol

Illegal Aliens Sue Border Patrol

The Lawsuit's Outcome Can Have Massive Implications

The crisis along America's southern border has continued to exasperate Border Patrol agents in the field and President Donald Trump, who is attempting to put an end to the flood of illegal aliens. Seven illegal aliens from Central American countries are suing the Department of Homeland Security because of overcrowding in Border Patrol facilities and the lack of access to legal representation, The Monitor reported.
The lawsuit was brought about by:

- Jairo Alexander Gonzalez Recinos - El Salvador
- Gerardo Henrique Herrera Rivera - El Salvador
- Kevin Eduardo Rizzo Ruano - Guatemala
- Jonathan Fernando Beltran Rizzo - Guatemala
- Enerly Melitza Ramos - Guatemala
- Karen Vanessa Borjas Zuniga - Honduras
- Julia Elizabeth Molina Lopez - Honduras

According to the lawsuit, the illegal aliens want themselves, as well as others in the facilities, to be released on bond.

"Petitioners were apprehended in mid-May at or near the U.S. Border with Mexico and subsequently detained. Once apprehended, such persons are often detained for extended periods of time - on information and belief, up to six weeks - in overcrowded holding cells, with inadequate food, water, and sanitation facilities, where attorneys are not allowed to visit. The conditions in these holding cells are dangerous and inhumane," the lawsuit stated. (Townhall) Read more

- Lord, the only solution for this is a move of Your Spirit -- over Congress, over the illegals, absolutely everyone. We are aware that when released in "bond," people disappear into the nation. We must have a move of repentance and a life-giving, heart-changing move of Your Spirit to cause forward momentum in this battle.

- "The Lord has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God." (Isaiah 52:10)

Classic Hymns

LORD OF THE DANCE

"I am He that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore." (Revelation 1:18)

Lyrics

I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,
And I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth,
At Bethlehem I had my birth.

Refrain

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I'll lead you all wherever you may be,
And I'll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced for the scribe and the Pharisee,
But they would not dance and they would not follow me;
I danced for the fishermen, for James and John;
They came to me and the dance went on.

Refrain

I danced on the Sabbath when I cured the lame,
The holy people said it was a shame;
They whipped and they stripped and they hung me high;
And they left me there on a cross to die.

Refrain

I danced on a Friday and the sky turned black;
It's hard to dance with the devil on your back;
They buried my body and they thought I'd gone,
But I am the dance and I still go on.

Refrain

They cut me down and I leapt up high,
I am the life that'll never, never die;
I'll live in you if you'll live in me;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.

Refrain

Signs and Wonders

South America reels after massive outage

Power has been restored to much of Argentina and Uruguay after a massive electrical failure left tens of millions of people in the dark.

Argentine President Mauricio Macri has promised a full investigation.

Argentine media said the power cut occurred shortly after 07:00 (10:00GMT) on Sunday, causing trains to be halted and failures with traffic signalling. The blackout was prompted by a failure in an electrical grid that serves both Argentina and Uruguay.

The outage occurred as people in Argentina were preparing to go to the polls for local elections, delaying voting in several regional provinces.

Parts of Paraguay and Chile were also affected, a state energy company said.

What do we know about the blackout?

"A massive failure in the electrical interconnection system left all of Argentina and Uruguay without power," electricity supply company Edesur said in a tweet.

Alejandra Martinez, a spokeswoman for the company, described the power cut as unprecedented.

"This is the first time something like this has happened across the entire country," she said.

Citing official sources, Argentine media reported that the outage was linked to a failure in the transmission of electricity from the Yacycretá hydroelectric dam. (BBC) Read more.

China Releases Pastor's Wife after Six Months in Jail,
Pastor's Status Still Unclear

The wife of a Chinese pastor was released from jail this week, six months after being arrested with her husband and other church members. Their church building was also closed by the government.

The New York Times reports Jiang Rong, 46, the wife of Wang Yi, the pastor of the Early Rain Covenant Church, was released Tuesday. The news of her release and her reunion with the couple's son was announced on the church's Facebook page. Jiang's sister, Li Xiaofeng, was also released pending trial.

As CBN News reported, Pastor Wang's home was raided and ransacked by police on Dec. 9. The raid may have been triggered by a 7,300 words manifesto titled "Meditations on the Religious War," which Pastor Wang wrote and posted on social media.

In it, he condemns China's Communist Party and urges Christians to perform acts of civil disobedience. Pastor Wang criticized the government for forcing its citizens to engage in "Caesar worship" by treating President Xi Jinping like a god.

He wrote that this ideology "is morally incompatible with the Christian faith and all those who uphold freedom of the mind and thought." "His home was ransacked. It was a mess," Zhang Guoqing told The South China Morning Reporter. "The police said our church is an illegal organization and we cannot attend any more gatherings from now on."

The release of Jiang and Xiaofeng seems to correspond with a clause in Chinese law that allows the authorities to detain people for six months without trial, according to The Times. Then they have to be criminally detained, formerly arrested or released on bail. (CBN) Read more.
