"Standing United Together . . . Under the Cross of Christ"

Focus on the New Congress

2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:1-4)

1. Democrats and the Dark Art of Projection - WND

David Kupelian on why leftists accuse opponents of the very evil they commit

Something head-spinningly bizarre is going on right now in our troubled nation. Consider:

- The presidential candidate who actually "colluded with the Russians" for years, including during the 2016 election, feigns innocence while her party accuses the other candidate - utterly without evidence - of selling out America to Vladimir Putin.

- The political party that is totally obsessed with race - which insists on hiring, and discriminating against, people solely on the basis of their skin color - accuses those who embrace a color-blind America of being "racists."

- The most blatantly fascist group in America - calling itself Antifa, short for anti-fascist - attacks genuine anti-fascists while calling them "fascists."

You get the idea. It's called projection. (Read more)

- Lord God, we are aware that those who practice divination and various forms of witchcraft actively use mirrors to distort images. We place all of those mirrors under the Blood of Christ; we obliterate these curses under the Blood of Christ; and we take back what the enemy has stolen from the minds of our people in Your powerful name. Again, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Amen.

- "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. . . For evildoers shall be [b]cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth." (Psalm 37:7,9)

2. Ocasio-Cortez Has Even Leftists Turning Against Her: 'Annoying Overhyped Charlatan' - Western Journal

Liberal Piers Morgan revealed his antipathy for Democratic New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a Daily Mail Op-Ed in which he said the progressive phenom's initials best stand for "Annoying Overhyped Charlatan."

After noting that Ocasio-Cortez recently tweeted about a slew of notes allegedly left at her office by supporters, he said that Ocasio-Cortez "bows to nobody in self-adoration, even it means creating a shrine to her own magnificence on her office door."

"To understand the full magnitude of her ego, AOC even compared her New York election victory to America's 1969 Moon landing and the 1964 Civil Rights Act," he wrote.

"AOC's hypocrisy appears to be limitless," he wrote, later adding, "But it's not her hypocrisy that's most troublesome. It's her inability to tell the truth."

Morgan, looking ahead to 2020, said that Trump "will be licking his lips with unconfined joy that the Democrats' noisiest media-dominating new star is a fork-tongued, hypocritical, cocky, extremely 'woke' hard-core socialist. Frankly, he couldn't script a better figurehead for his rivals as he battles re-election." (Read more)

- Father God, it is now obvious that one of the schemes this new member of Congress is employing is to create headlines, reporting her outrageous behavior each week and calling attention to herself. Lord God Almighty, Ms. Cortez is only one of the other 434 members of Congress. We command now, in Your Mighty Name, that she stand down, cease and desist from this behavior, and assume the role of any freshman member of Congress; and that the media stop reporting on her antics. In Your Name, amen.

- " . . . I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!'" (Job 38:11)

3. Home Depot Co-Founder Blasts Socialism, Quietly Calls Out Ocasio-Cortez in Explosive Interview - Western Journal

The co-founder of The Home Depot slammed supporters of socialism during a Friday interview on Fox News.

Bernard Marcus, The Home Depot co-founder, talked to Fox News host Neil Cavuto about the failure of socialism in Venezuela and Cuba. Marcus said socialism has devastated those countries and compared their present state to what they were like before socialist rule.

He specifically called Cuba a "perfect example of socialism gone wrong. . . They took a great country. They put it right down the drain in every way possible," Marcus said about Cuba. "People are starving to death. Medical (care) is not available for them. And we have a group of people in Washington today, new representatives especially, that look at socialism as the way to go," he said. "And if you don't think that's dangerous, I do."

Marcus told Cavuto that he believed the growing support for socialism among young Americans "comes right out of the universities. You see students graduating today and a very high percentage . . . almost 50 percent of students coming out of universities today believe that socialism is the answer," Marcus said.

One recent survey found that that 51 percent of American millennials would rather live under socialist or communist rule than in a capitalist country. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You that there are those in the private sector who, like Mr. Marcus, still speak truth in the public square in the midst of this sea of chaos and confusion. Please keep Bernard Marcus and all who stand with him safe from harm, as well as the members of his household, and let his voice be heard in our land, amen.

- "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (I Peter 5:8) -

4. Ocasio-Cortez just latest in 100 years of warnings earth 'doomed' - WND - WND

Congressional newcomer Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., recently made the wild claim that unless global warming is addressed, the world has only 12 years left. "And I think the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we're like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don't address climate change," she said.

Ocasio-Cortez, who previously announced her desire for Democrats to "take back all three chambers of Congress," the "presidency, the Senate and the House," was interviewed at a Martin Luther King Jr. event in New York. She said, in part: "And I think the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we're like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don't address climate change." - Father God, we need Your help. This little lady, whose resume only stated that, before running for office, had worked as a bartender . . . this little lady's message much be stopped. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen.

- "The Lord . . . will save us." (Isaiah 33:22d)

5. Dems Starting to Realize Leaders Don't Care About Border Security - Independent Sentinel

President Trump did not cave in his latest agreement with the Democrats. The only thing he did was give them another three weeks because Americans were hurting. Democrats have one more chance to come to the table. Unfortunately, both Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have mocked the President for his generosity, crowing about their win, and insisting there will be no wall.

Moderate Democrats are beginning to realize Democrat leaders want open borders. "[Democrats are] getting pounded because the Trump message, the Republican message that they don't care about border security has started to seep in," CNN's Dan Bash said.

Rep. Mark Meadows said, "Democrats have been saying for weeks they'll negotiate on wall funding when the government is open. POTUS is now giving them yet ANOTHER opportunity to come to the table. Americans will be able to judge for themselves whether Democrats are truly serious about securing our border." (Read more)

- O righteous Father, we pray that You will observe the motives in the hearts of these Democrats. We plead for sound judgment on their part regarding the wisdom of open borders, which has deadly national results. God, secure our borders which is the ultimate protection for our country. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "God said to Solomon, You did not ask for riches, wealth, honor, life of Your enemies, but asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king; wisdom and knowledge is granted unto you." (II Chronicles 1:1-12)

Focus on Israel

1. Key Document on Bezeq Could Clear Netanyahu in Case 4,000 - Jewish Press

(JNS) A newly unearthed document could undermine a key premise in Case 4,000, a corruption case in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considered suspect.

Case 4,000 centers on an alleged conflict of interest involving Netanyahu, Bezeq and the Walla news website, which Bezeq owns. The police allege that Bezeq's controlling shareholder, Shaul Elovitch, ensured positive coverage of the Netanyahu family on Walla in exchange for the prime minister promoting government regulations favorable to Bezeq that would cement the telecom giant's market share and be worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the corporation.

Police investigators say Netanyahu went out of his way to push for regulation that allowed Bezeq to merge with Yes, a provider of satellite TV, as part of the illicit deal with Elovitch. Investigators say this was clearly a quid pro quo because Netanyahu used his clout to override the objections among various officials in the Communications Ministry and expedited the approval process in a way that gave Elovitch favorable treatment.

2. Nasrallah says Iran, Hezbollah may begin responding to Syria strikes - Times of Israel

The chief of the Hezbollah terror group on Saturday warned it could respond to Israeli airstrikes in Syria targeting mainly Iranian positions and what Israel says are weapons shipments.

Hassan Nasrallah said the alliance between Syrian President Bashar Assad's government, Iran, and his Lebanese Hezbollah movement could end its policy of not responding to the Israeli strikes.

"At any moment the Syrian leadership and the axis of resistance can take a decision to deal with the Israeli aggression in a different manner," Nasrallah said in a wide-ranging interview with Lebanon's al-Mayadeen TV network.

3. Israel Mocked Again - Jerusalem Online

Speaking to the Lebanese TV station al-Mayadin on Saturday, Hezbollah LeaderSayyed Hassan Nasrallah mocked Israel's claim that it had discovered secret tunnels used by the group on the border between Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories.

He said some of the secret tunnels run by Hezbollah that Israel claims to have discovered and destroyed in a recent operation had been built by the Lebanese group over a decade ago.

"What surprises us is that the Israelis were late to discover these tunnels . . . some of those tunnels preceded the 2006 war," Nasrallah said. The Lebanese leader said the tunnels formed only a small part of Hezbollah's strategy to target Israel in case a war erupts between the two, adding that it was Israel's 'regime' fantasy to claim that destruction of tunnels has saved it from future attacks.

4. Discovery of Hezbollah 'attack tunnels' rattles a northern Israeli town - NBC News

METULA, Israel - A soldier rushes up to a farmer who had just skirted a metal gate to get onto a patch of red earth.

"Move back," the soldier commands as the hum of a generator fills the air.

"But this is my land," Haim Hod shoots back. Hod, 71, nicknamed Hamke, stands his ground alongside his wife, Miriam, on what is officially a restricted military area.

Behind the couple, rows of winter-bare apple trees march down toward Metula, Israel's northernmost town. The soldier is guarding a long white tent that squats before a huge concrete wall. Above the imposing barrier looms a hill speckled with houses - the Lebanese town of Kafr Kela.

Only a few weeks ago Hod's trees grew on what is now beaten-down earth. On Dec. 4, the couple and the nation were told that an "attack tunnel" had been discovered in Israeli territory that led into Lebanon.

5. European Parliament marks International Holocaust Day - Jerusalem Post

The European Union Parliament marked International Holocaust Day last week and emphasized the continuing importance of the vigilant fight against antisemitism in Europe.

"The message of the parliament is clear," said President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, speaking at the ceremony, "there is no place for hatred and antisemitism in Europe."

Tajani said that the parliament must act in light of a recently published survey showing that a majority of Europeans do not believe antisemitism is a major problem in Europe, despite the rise in antisemitic attacks and rhetoric.

Chairman of the Jewish Agency Isaac Herzog also reacted to the survey, saying "30 percent of Europeans do not know anything about the Holocaust. This is clearly a threat."

9. Israel, Egypt, Others Announce Formation of Eastern Mediterranean Gas Export Hub - Bridges for Peace

Israel, Egypt and five other governments have announced the formation of a regional organization devoted to the development of natural gas resources in Cairo, Reuters reported on Monday.

A statement from Egypt's petroleum minister stated the governments would "create a regional gas market that serves the interests of its members by ensuring supply and demand, optimizing resource development, rationalizing the cost of infrastructure, offering competitive prices and improving trade relations."

Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority are also involved in the new organization. (Read more)

- Praise God for this new cooperative initiative involving Egypt, Israel and other states in the area. Pray that Israel will proceed with God's wisdom and the organization will be successful, bringing economic stability to the region and improving ties between Israel and the other countries involved.

- "And it shall come to pass that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, let your hands be strong." (Zechariah 8:13)

10. Malaysia Doubles Down, Banning Israeli Athletes from Competing at Paralympic Event - Bridges for Peace

Having failed to issue visas for Israeli athletes to compete in the World Para Swimming Championships this summer, the Malaysian government has doubled down and issued a ban on having Israelis participate in any event hosted by the country, Reuters reported Wednesday.

". . . Malaysia will not host any event that has representation from or participation of Israel."

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) issued a statement saying that it was "bitterly disappointed" with the Malaysian government's stance to bar Israel from the Para Swimming Championships, or any other sporting event hosted by that country.(Read more)

- Pray that the Lord will intervene to bring an end to this blatant and ugly anti-Semitism and mistreatment of Israel's athletes in the international arena. Thank Him for the support of MP Danby of Australia and for the actions and statements of the FIDE and the IPC. Pray for courageous leadership that will completely ban those nations that display this kind of discrimination. (Isaiah 41:8-11)

11. Israel and Chad Announce the Resumption of Diplomatic Relations
- Bridges for Peace

The two sides signed an official memorandum on the resumption of relations between the two countries.

The announcement was made in the framework of Prime Minister Netanyahu's historic visit to Chad.

The two sides view the resumption of relations as the key to future cooperation for the benefit of both countries. (To view the Prime Minister's remarks, go here.)
- Thank God for Israel's increasing presence in Africa and specifically for this renewed relationship with Chad. Pray that the Lord will protect and guide this historic partnership between Israel and a Muslim-majority nation. Pray that it will bring blessing to both nations as they work together, allowing God to be seen in His faithfulness to Israel.

The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted! It is God who avenges me and subdues the peoples under me; He delivers me from my enemies. Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the Gentiles and sing praises to Your name. (Psalm 18:46-48a, 49)

The Daily Brief

1. President Trump Signs Bill to End Government Shutdown - CBN News

The US Senate and US House of Representatives both voted to approve a temporary plan to end the government shutdown Friday evening. President Donald Trump announced from the White House Rose Garden on Friday afternoon that he had reached a deal with Congress, clearing a path to end the 35-day partial government shutdown. The president signed the bill Friday evening.

He thanked federal workers who "have shown such extraordinary devotion" throughout the ordeal. He said federal workers will receive back-pay as soon as possible. The measure allows the government to reopen for three weeks. It doesn't include any border security funding -- it's just a clean resolution to get federal employees back to work in order to get Democrats to agree to start earnest talks about separate funding to protect the border.

The president said if he doesn't get a fair border deal from Congress after three weeks of negotiation, then the government will shut down again, or he will end up declaring a national state of emergency to allow him to protect America's southern border. (Read more)

- O Righteous Father, cover our President with the Blood of Jesus so that he will hear the voice of the Lord in dealing with Congress and the House regarding this vital situation to protect America's southern border. We pray You will dispatch myriads of angels to protect the southern border and defeat every power of darkness that would attempt to cause trouble. We ask in the Name of Jesus.

- "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing of the Lord." (Isaiah 10:27)

2. Pelosi trying to hold State of the Union 'hostage,' Rep. Scalise says - Fox News

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said Sunday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to hold the State of the Union "hostage" as part of the debate over border security, by not allowing President Trump to deliver the speech in Congress.

"I thought it was disgraceful that she removed the State of the Union from the invitation that she had already issued to the president . . . I think Nancy Pelosi is afraid of the country hearing this message that the president has about why we need to secure the border," Scalise, R-La., told "Sunday Morning Futures."

Even though Trump ended the partial government shutdown last week, agreeing to a short-term spending bill that funds the government until Feb. 15, the official date of the address is yet to be determined. Pelosi revoked her invite to Trump, thus postponing the speech - scheduled for Jan. 29 - citing security concerns related to the then-ongoing shutdown, as those tasked with providing security were not being paid. (Read more)

- Father God, we repent that our leaders are now playing these childish games in an effort to wield their supposed power. We thank You for the grace demonstrated by our President in this time of testing, and we ask for Your perfect will to be done for this year's State of the Union Address. Amen.

- "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

3. State of the Union now in the works for February 5 - Fox News

Following President Trump's announcement of a short-term deal to re-open the government on Friday, plans have again commenced for the president to move forward with the State of the Union - but they likely won't occur as originally scheduled, Fox News has learned.

"It's not physically possible" to do the address "next Tuesday," a source with direct knowledge of State of the Union planning told Fox News. February 5 is now being floated as the date for the address, according to the source.

Following the president's announcement in the White House Rose Garden Friday, Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., held a news conference in which they addressed plans for the speech. "The State of the Union is not planned now," Pelosi said. "What I said to the president is when government is open, we will discuss a mutually agreeable date," adding that she'll "look forward to doing that and welcoming the president to the House of Representatives for the State of the Union" after a date is settled. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray that President Trump will hear from the Lord as to God's plans and purposes for the State of the Union address. We entreat the Lord and He is looking down from heaven in His wisdom and He will reveal the magnanimous plan for America which rises above all pettiness and meanness. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "You, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Yours, Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all." (I Chronicles 29:11)

4. Government jobs were considered stable. Now the damage from the shutdown could cause workers to flee - CNBC

For years, government jobs have earned a reputation as stable. Employees could generally count on few surprises, good benefits and a solid retirement. The record-long government shutdown has damaged that notion. The missed paydays have left thousands of workers scrambling to cover meals and bills, selling personal items or seeking temporary or permanent work outside of their government posts.

The federal government employs about 2 million civilians, according to the Office of Personnel Management. While many conservatives such as Office of Management and Budget Director and acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney would like to see cuts, federal employment has stayed steady in recent years.

The shutdown hit at a time when government worker morale was already suffering. The Trump administration has also proposed stark cuts to various departments in its budget proposals. The fact that a political fight, rather than the merits of their work, caused federal employees to go without pay could make them even more disillusioned, the Partnership for Public Service's Stier said. (Read more)

- Father God, reach out to all the government employees who are facing dire financial situations. May they turn to the Lord for their help and guidance. Give them faith to believe for God to supply all their needs. Guide President Trump to make wise decisions regarding the wall that will protect America's southern border. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all." (Psalm 34:19)

5. Stone Indictment Undercuts Trump-Russia Collusion Narrative - Daily Caller

The indictment against Roger Stone makes no allegation that the longtime Trump associate conspired with Russia or WikiLeaks. Instead, Stone is accused of lying to Congress about communication he had with Trump campaign officials and other associates about his efforts to find out what information WikiLeaks had during the 2016 campaign.

The indictment appears to undercut some of the Democratic-backed conspiracies of a vast conspiracy between the Trump team and Russia to hack and disseminate emails stolen from Democrats. Andrew McCarthy, a former U.S. attorney and columnist for National Review, said on Fox News, "I read that indictment, and what it says to me is that the special counsel and the FBI have known for at least a year, probably much longer than that that there is no espionage conspiracy and there was none between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign." (Read more)

- O righteous Father, we are thankful that these conspiracy allegations against Trump and Russia are erroneous. We pray that all those who have planted all these lies will be judged accordingly. Stand by President Trump and make him strong to carry on in a diplomatic way his responsibilities as President of the United States. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me (President Trump)." (Psalm 35:1)

6. Roger Stone: I Will Not Bear False Witness Against President Trump - CNS News

As CNSNews.com reported, Stone was arrested overnight after a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia indicted him on seven counts: one count of obstruction of an official proceeding; five counts of false statements; and one count of witness tampering.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Stone's attorney said the way Stone's arrest was handled "was completely unnecessary," and he pledged to defend and win the case. "Everyone knows where Roger Stone is. He's not in hiding. The spectacle this morning with the SWAT team breaking into his house, searching the house, scaring his wife, scaring his dogs, completely unnecessary. A telephone call would have done the job, and Mr. Stone would have appeared," Stone's attorney said.

"I will plead not guilty to these charges. I will defeat them in court. I believe this is a politically motivated investigation. I am troubled by the political motivations of the prosecutors, and as I have said previously, there is no circumstance whatsoever in which I will bear false witness against the president. Nor will I make up lies to ease the pressure on myself. I look forward to being fully and completely vindicated," he said. (Read more)

- Oh God, we pray that all the political motivations of the prosecutors' lies against Roger Stone will be revealed and they face the reaping of their evil schemes. We call forth heavenly angels to be sent from heaven to protect Mr. Stone and fight his battle to a mighty victory over his prosecutors. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. For God shall deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him that has no helper."
(Psalm 72:11-12)

7. Lindsey Graham Needs To Pursue Those Who Lied During The Kavanaugh Debacle - The Federalist

Since taking over three weeks ago as chairman for the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Lindsey Graham has already staked out several key priorities for the committee. The list will please conservatives: confirm more judges and investigate the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for their handling of the Russia collusion investigation, the Hillary Clinton email investigation, and the use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to obtain a warrant to surveil former Trump campaign aid Carter Page.

Yet Graham has so far omitted an equally significant area of inquiry for the Senate Judiciary Committee: the possible criminal conduct undertaken to thwart the confirmation of now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Nothing has yet come from the three criminal referrals already made related to the Kavanaugh proceedings. Graham should also consider asking the DOJ to investigate Ford's lifelong friend McLean for potential witness tampering.

Although the Democrats' ploy to destroy Kavanaugh with last-minute allegations of sexual misconduct failed to derail his ascent to the Supreme Court, the precedent set should perjury go unanswered cannot be overstated. From his fiery performance during confirmation hearings, Graham seemed to understand the significance of allowing character assignation to do in a Supreme Court nomination-not merely at the political level, but at the personal levels as well. (Read more)

- O righteous Father, we pray that You guide Sen. Graham in confirming more conservative judges to investigate the handling of the Russia collusion by the DOJ, FBI, H. Clinton's emails and FISA regarding Carter Page; also McLean for potential witness tampering. We ask that You will send holy warrior angels to protect Kavanaugh from all lies assayed against his character. God, we are asking for a miracle. For we pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked." (Psalm 82:1-2)

8. New York's Until-Birth Abortion Law Is A Sign Of America's Decline - The Federalist

This week the governor of New York signed into law a bill designed to expand a woman's ability to have an abortion. Non-doctors have also been given the legal ability to perform abortions.

The top of Freedom Tower-a building built to show the world the strength and resolve of the American people in the aftermath of a terrible tragedy-was lit up in pink to celebrate the signing. It celebrates a bill that promises to kill more humans than terrorists ever will.

Abortion isn't empowering to women. It's the opposite. It's dehumanizing. The law celebrates self-love, not selfless love. It breaks down not barriers to women's rights, but the very bonds that bind us together. It rejects the inherent value of all life. It kills. It does not love. It is not a cause for celebration, but for reexamining what America truly treasures. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we ask that the governor of New York who had the authority to curse the land and the women with this heinous law of freedom to kill babies enmasse be stricken from his office. God, change the hearts of the women seeking an abortion, and save the child. Hands are dripping with the blood of death. God help our country. In the Name of Jesus.

"Come, my people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors; hide yourself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overcast. For, behold, the Lord comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain."
(Isaiah 26:20-21)

9. Texas Secretary of State Says 58,000 Non-Citizens Voted in Elections - Free Beacon

The Texas secretary of state issued on Friday afternoon the results of a year-long evaluation that showed 95,000 non-U.S. citizens are registered to vote in the state and approximately 58,000 of them voted in one or more elections.

Texas Secretary of State David Whitley indicated the individuals were found over the past year by his office and the Texas Department of Public Safety in an evaluation of the voter registration rolls. Whitley issued an advisory to county voter registrars on Friday about voter registration list maintenance activities including identifying non-U.S. citizens who are registered to vote in the state. If a person votes in an election knowing he or she is not eligible to vote it is a second-degree felony in Texas.

Texas law allows lawfully present noncitizens to obtain driver's licenses by showing proof of lawful presence to the Department of Public Safety, however, only citizens are eligible to vote. Currently, state law does not require verification of a voter's statement that a person is a citizen. (Read more)

- Almighty God, cover our country with the power of Your Holy Spirit and bring redemption to the people and deliverance from the onslaughts of satanic infiltration into our lawful voting system. Lord God, pull the reigns tighter against unlawful voters. Instill strong restrictions immediately. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "That men may know that You, whose Name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth." (Psalm 83:18)

10. US Returns Asylum Seekers to Mexico - Epoch Times

The United States was expected to send a first group of 20 Central American asylum seekers back to Mexico through the border city of Tijuana on January 25, as part of President Donald Trump's hardening of longstanding immigration policy.

Under a policy dubbed the Migrant Protection Protocols, announced on December 20, the United States will return non-Mexican migrants who cross the U.S. southern border back to Mexico while their asylum requests are processed in U.S. immigration courts. Asylum seekers have traditionally been granted the right to stay in the United States while their cases are decided by a U.S. immigration judge but a backlog of more than 800,000 cases means the process can take years.

- Almighty God, send Your power and dominion over the issue of asylum seekers and restrict them from being allowed to stay in the United States while their cases are decided by an immigration judge. Protect America's borders by myriads of holy warrior angels who will fight against the powers of darkness and lawlessness. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

-"Preserve America, O God: for in You do we put our trust." (Psalm 16:1)

Public education failing God and country

A recent study by Pew Research indicates that Generation Z, those born after 1996, are far more liberal than Gen Xers and Baby Boomers, and slightly more liberal than the Millennial generation. They believe in more government control, same sex marriage, gender neutrality, climate change, living together, having children out of wedlock, and that the United States is not the best country in the world. Even more pronounced is that Gen Zers who identify as Republican or leaning Republican starkly contrast with Generation X and Baby Boomer Republicans on political issues. Generation Z is far more liberal than their predecessors. Interesting, there is little difference between the generations identifying as Democrats.

Pew reports, "Among Republicans and those who lean to the Republican Party, the generational divides are even starker. Roughly half (52%) of Gen Z Republicans say they think the government should be doing more to solve problems, compared with 38% of Millennial Republicans and 29% of Gen Xers. About a quarter of Republican Baby Boomers (23%) and fewer GOP Silents [those born between 1938-45] (12%) believe the government should be doing more. Among Democrats, however, these generational divides largely disappear. Roughly eight-in-ten Gen Z (81%) and Millennial Democrats (79%) say the government should do more to solve problems, as do about seven-in-ten Democratic Gen Xers, Boomers and Silents."

Aside from attending Ashland University on a football scholarship (2010-14), our son Christian was also a four-year academic scholar of the prestigious Ashbrook Center, which "seeks to restore and strengthen the capacities of the American people for constitutional self-government." We recently received a letter from the new director of the Ashbrook program. Chris Flannery wrote: "Democracy requires more of its citizens than any other form of government. It depends on the capacity of the citizens to govern themselves. But the habits and dispositions of self-government are difficult to acquire and to sustain. They are rooted in moral and political principles in which each new generation must be educated. It is no accident that history provides so few examples of successful and enduring democracies."

Flannery continues: "It is true that our schools and colleges have been failing for many years to teach American history and government adequately. This is a very serious and important failure." We can see from the Pew Research report where our country is heading in the future. It is a direction where the majority lacks godly moral and political principles. We can point to the public school system for this, but ultimately the blame rests on parents. Parents have responsibility for their children's upbringing. Parents also have choices regarding education and local input over public schools. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Parents must be strong in this because even so, their children will be influenced by those who have gone the way of the world. We all must do better for our kids.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

My Vision:

A Vision I Received While Posting Tonight's Brief

Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

Tonight, as I have been putting together this edition of the Daily Brief, I am seeing a vision that is not leaving me:

I am seeing Old Glory -- our flag -- flying proudly on a flagpole, but it is in very poor condition. There have been so many "pot shots" thrown against it, and it has been through such danger, that now, it is in very poor condition.
NEVERTHELESS, THIS FLAG -- OUR FLAG -- STILL STANDS BRAVELY IN ITS PLACE, REFUSING TO BE TAKEN DOWN.
Saints of God:

No matter how many "pot shots" we are taking now as true patriots and as prayer warriors for the Kingdom of God . . . we stand.

AND we proudly stand UNITED IN HIM as we continue to hold our position as WATCHMEN ON THE WALL.
Thank you all for your diligence, your courage, and your steadfastness in doing so, in these challenging times.

AMEN!

In His Amazing Grace,

Sara Ballenger, President

P.S. I am also hearing the words to "God Bless America," which we will post below under Classic Hymns. Shalom.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

"The Lord bless you and keep you . . ." (Numbers 6:24)

Lyrics
God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above

From the mountains, to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America
My home, sweet home
God bless America
My home, sweet home

Signs and Wonders

Drought-stricken, parched Iran is sinking - literally

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Fissures appear along roads while massive holes open up in the countryside, their gaping maws a visible sign from the air of something Iranian authorities now openly acknowledge: the area around Tehran is literally sinking.

Stressed by a 30-year drought and hollowed by excessive water pumping, the parched landscape around Iran's capital has begun to sink dramatically. Seen by satellite and on foot around the city, officials warn that what they call land subsidence poses a grave danger to a country where protests over water scarcity already have seen violence.

"Land subsidence is a destructive phenomenon," said Siavash Arabi, a measurement expert at Iran's cartography department. "Its impact may not be immediately felt like an earthquake, but as you can see, it can gradually cause destructive changes over time."

He said he can identify "destruction of farmland, the cracks of the earth's surface, damage to civilian areas in cities, wastewater lines, cracks in roads and damages to water and natural gas pipes."
. . . Rain and snow to recharge the underground aquifers have been in short supply. Over the past decade, Iran has seen the most prolonged and severe drought in more than 30 years, according to the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization. An estimated 97 percent of the country has faced some level of drought, Iran's Meteorological Organization says.

That has caused the sinkholes and fissures now seen around Tehran. (Times of Israel) Read more.

The Good News Corner

Jailed for 'Blasphemy' 2 Years Ago;
Christian Former Governor of Jakarta is Now Free

The former Christian governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaya Purnama, has been freed from prison after serving almost two years behind bars for blasphemy.

Purnama, known as "Ahok," was jailed in May 2017 for allegedly insulting the Quran by insisting that his political rivals were deceiving people by using the Islamic text to stop Muslims being led by non-Muslims. On the morning of Jan. 24, Indonesian authorities released the politician over three months early as a result of his good behavior while incarcerated.

"Free in the morning," he tweeted late Wednesday night.

"Basuki Tjahaja Purnama got out of the (detention centre) around 7.30am," his secretary Ima Mahdiah told journalists, according to the Straits Times.

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
