> > > "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (I Timothy 2:1-4)

1. Ocasio-Cortez may take on Wall Street, fellow Democrats on finance panel - POLITICO

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is poised to win a seat on the powerful House Financial Services Committee, in what would be a victory for progressives fighting to curb Wall Street's clout in Washington and inside the Democratic Party itself. The assignment, which lawmakers say they expect her to receive, would pit the 29-year-old New Yorker not only against banks that make up a major local industry but also potentially against business-friendly Democrats who have backed financial deregulation.

Some moderate Democrats have privately raised concerns that they'll be targeted by the former bartender-turned-progressive icon, whose willingness to challenge her party's establishment propelled her to Congress and the national spotlight.

Committee Democrats see great potential, but some are wary because of the pressure she will face to lead a crusade against corporate interests, even if it means taking a hard line with fellow lawmakers. "I don't know enough about her to be able to determine if she's going to be a good member or what," said Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.), a senior Financial Services Committee lawmaker who survived an Ocasio-Cortez-backed primary challenge last year. "Time will tell, and this one term will tell us a lot about her abilities as a legislator." (Read more)

- Lord, we ask that You reign in these out of control members of the legislature, and prevent them from gaining any position that would harm the United States.

- "But You have seen it, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand." (Psalm 10:14a)

2. Ocasio-Cortez Pushes Democrats to the Left, Whether They Like It or Not - New York Times

Not so long ago, left-wing activists were dismissed as fringe or even kooky when they pressed for proposals to tax the superrich at 70 percent, to produce all of America's power through renewable resources or to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Then along came Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - and her social-media megaphone.

In the two months since her election, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez has had the uncanny ability for a first-term member of Congress to push the debate inside the Democratic Party sharply to the left, forcing party leaders and 2020 presidential candidates to grapple with issues that some might otherwise prefer to avoid.

Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Cory Booker, among others, have recently endorsed the idea of a "Green New Deal," a call to reimagine an environment-first economy that would phase out fossil fuels. . . (Read more)

- Lord God, we do ask that You reign in these new members, in Your name, amen.

- "This far and no further, and here will your proud waves stop!" (Job 38:11)

3. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has more Twitter power than media, establishment - AXIOS

A freshman congresswoman who has held office for less than two weeks is dominating the Democratic conversation on Twitter, generating more interactions - retweets plus likes - than the five most prolific news organizations combined over the last 30 days.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is miles behind President Trump in the influence of her Twitter account. But he's the president - she's a new member of Congress who shot out of a cannon following the midterm elections. And she has far more power on Twitter than the most prominent Democrats, including the congressional leaders and the likely 2020 presidential candidates.

Ben Thompson - founder of Stratechery, and one of the most pioneering online thinkers - points out that neither Ocasio-Cortez's "background nor her position as a first-time representative are . . . noteworthy enough to be driving the national political conversation. And yet she is doing exactly that. "In short, she is the first - but certainly not the last - of an entirely new archetype: a politician that is not only fueled by the Internet, but born of it." (Read more)

- Lord God, ever since "AOC" won the primary in her Bronx District last spring, ousting the longest-sitting Democrat in the House of Representatives, Congressman Joe Crowley, we have had our eye on this young lady. And now, whatever source is fueling her sudden rise to fame, we take note. We note, too, that her district includes the site where the witches have been busy over the past year, incanting against our President. Lord, have mercy. Please visit Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as you did Saul on the road to Damascus, bringing her to salvation. Father God, we do praise You that Your arm is not too short for any to be saved, in Your Name, amen.

- "Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear." (Isaiah 59:1)

4. Rep. Jennifer Wexton Hangs Transgender Pride Flag Outside Her Capitol Hill Office - Time Magazine

Newly-elected Virginia congresswoman Jennifer Wexton is showing solidarity with the LGBTQ community by hanging a transgender pride flag alongside the official Virginia flag outside her D.C. office.

Narissa Rahaman, a regional field organizer for the Human Rights Campaign, shared an image of the flag on Twitter Thursday, which she said is the only office on the Hill with one. Rahaman also said Wexton told her the flag is there because of the community's support.

The congresswoman, who is also an aunt to a transgender child, told the Washingtonian that she raised the flag in front of her office as a show of support for the transgender community.

"The trans community has been under attack," she said. "I wanted to show my solidarity because we are talking about my friends and family." (Read more)

- Lord God, we have been inspired over the years, as we have walked the halls of Congress and witnessed the American flag, as well as the flag of the member's own state, displayed outside each door. We are blessed, too, by those who honor our own POW's, as this flag is also hung in many offices on the Hill.

But Lord God, the flag of the LGBTQ movement has no place in Congress. We ask that rules be activated to outlaw these displays, in Your name, amen.

- "Ask and it will be given to you . . ." (Matthew 7:7)

5. Democratic Rep. Says She Knows the Real Secret Goal That Trump Wants, and It's Not a Border Wall - Restoring Liberty

Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal (Wash.) told MSNBC's Chris Hayes that a deal could not be made with President Donald Trump to reopen the government because his real secret goal was to clear the U.S. of all immigrants and people of color.

Jayapal enthusiastically agreed to Hayes' claims about Trump's true goal for the border wall while referring to a statement made about "white supremacy" by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa).

"Donald Trump is at the border," said Hayes, "and shutting down the government over this entirely ridiculous enterprise because he almost certainly correctly thinks his political fortunes are dependent on the Steve Kings of the world and the people who love him."

"People animated by bigotry and fear," Hayes continued, "people who have come to view their identity as existentially under threat from desperate Honduran moms in flip flops. Those people cannot be appeased, because what they want is not policy, what they want is an ethnically pure America, and thats why this impasse can't be solved in any normal deal-making terms." . . .

"He actually could have gotten funding a couple of years ago," she explained, "or a year ago, for a wall, it was part of a deal that was proposed, not all of us agreed with that deal, but it was proposed to him and he turned it down because his ultimate goal, as you said, to make America pure in the sense of not having immigrants, not having folks of color here, and shutting down every form of legal immigration." - Father, this egregious statement is wrong, and has an agenda to polarize the United States even further. We pray against the constant name-calling by Democrats and ask that You move to dispel their statements. We pray for Your Spirit to bring repentance to the nation.

- "He has declared to His people the power of His works, in giving them the heritage of the nations." (Psalm 111:6)

6. Muslim Rep. André Carson Envisions 30-35 Muslims in Congress with a Muslim President by 2030 at CAIR Reception (VIDEO) - Gateway Pundit

Muslim Congressman Andre Carson (D-IN) envisioned a future of 30-35 Muslim members in Congress by 2030, who will be elected to powerful posts such as committee chairs, Speaker of the House and even President of the United States.

Congressman Carson gushed over the newly elected Muslim Congresswomen, foul-mouthed Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and Rep.Ilhan Omar, the woman who married her own brother, while speaking at a reception for terror-tied CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) on Thursday.

Carson fantasized about Rashida Tlaib, the Palestinian Rep who called President Trump "motherf*cker" the day she was sworn into office on a Quran, becoming Speaker of the House or a Senator.

"We've got firepower in Congress. We've got sister Rashida [Tlaib] in the House, and she's tough." (Read more)

- Father, we declare this worldly prophecy to be null and void. We pray that You will prevent anything not in Your perfect will from occurring in America, and in Congress.

- "Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."
(James 4:4b,c)

7. America's Youngest Black Legislator Caleb Hanna: Pro-Life, Pro-God, and Pro-Wall - Breitbart

Caleb Hanna was sworn into the West Virginia legislature last month, making the staunchly pro-life lawmaker America's youngest black legislator. "I'm proudly a Christian conservative and was raised on the belief that success is built with hard work, commitment and dedication - West Virginia values that continue to guide me today," Caleb Hanna said last May during his campaign.

"I support the WV Pro-Life movement and have been endorsed in the Republican Primary by West Virginians for Life. I also fully support the 2nd Amendment and our right to bear arms," the young lawmaker said. "I will be a passionate, effective, and conservative fighter for limited government, economic growth, and the Constitution." (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for this precious young man, Your protection for his life, and Your blessing upon his career.

- "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1)

8a. Steve King will face disciplinary 'action' for white supremacy comments, GOP leader McCarthy says - Fox News

Republican Iowa Rep. Steve King will face disciplinary action after he publicly questioned why the terms "white nationalist" and "white supremacist" were considered offensive, House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy announced Sunday. McCarthy also vowed that the Republican response will make clear that the GOP leadership, unlike the new House Democratic majority, is willing to take a stand against what he characterized as hateful and bigoted comments by rank-and-file members of the party.

King, 69, was already under fire from Republicans for aligning himself with a white nationalist politician and making a series of racially charged remarks when he made the head-turning comment in an interview published last week. "White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization - how did that language become offensive?" King told The New York Times. "Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?" (Read more)

8b. Rep. Steve King removed from committee assignments amid 'white supremacist' controversy - Fox News

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, was stripped of his committee assignments by his fellow House Republicans Monday evening following bipartisan condemnation of King's recent remarks on white supremacy and white nationalism. "We will not tolerate this type of language in the Republican Party . . . or in the Democratic Party as well," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters. "I watched what Steve King said and we took action."

In a formal statement, McCarthy said King's comments were "beneath the dignity of the Party of Lincoln and the United States of America. His comments call into question whether he will treat all Americans equally, without regard for race and ethnicity. House Republicans are clear: We are all in this together, as fellow citizens equal before God and the law. As Congressman King's fellow citizens, let us hope and pray earnestly that this action will lead to greater reflection and ultimately change on his part."

The loss of King's committee assignments may not be the end of his trouble. Earlier Monday, Reps. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., and Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, introduced separate censure resolutions against the Republican. Censure is one of three formal modes of punishment in the House. It is more severe than a reprimand, but not as severe as expulsion. The House has only censured 23 members in history, most recently, former Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., in December 2010. "Anything less [than censure] would be a slap on the wrist," Rush told reporters. "Steve King's continual, serial, expression of hard, rabid racism must come to a screeching halt. This Congress must rise up and express its sentiment."

Senate Republicans also expressed their disgust with King, with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., saying that if King "doesn't understand why 'white supremacy' is offensive, he should find another line of work." "There is no place in the Republican Party, the Congress or the country for an ideology of racial supremacy of any kind," McConnell said. "I have no tolerance for such positions and those who espouse these views are not supporters of American ideals and freedoms. Rep. King's statements are unwelcome and unworthy of his elected position." (Read more)

- Lord, we ask that all members of Congress on either side of the aisle find wisdom when they speak. From the vile comments by the left and foolish ones by the right, we are in desperate need of Godly wisdom for our leadership.

- "Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my anxieties."
(Psalm 139:23)

1. Israeli Intel Firm Blows the Lid Off Iranian Satellite Launch - United With Israel

According to images released by Israel's ImageSat International (ISI), Tehran is poised to launch a satellite into orbit from northern Iran.

While Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has made claims regarding launching satellites "using domestically-made rockets," officials from Tehran have been caught in the past fabricating military intelligence and attempting to disseminate false propaganda regarding Iran's military capabilities.

In this case, however, ISI's photos appear to demonstrate that Iran's satellite launch may be imminent, with large numbers of personnel arriving at the Khomenei Spaceport in the past few days, Times of Israel reported.

2. Palestinians Harass Israeli Policeman on Temple Mount for Wearing Jewish Skull Cap - United With Israel

Guards at a mosque built on top of the Jewish Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Monday refused to allow an Israeli policeman to enter for a routine security check because he was wearing a Jewish skullcap known as a "kippah," a Palestinian official said.

Firas Dibs, a spokesman for the Islamic authority that oversees the site, says dozens of worshipers scuffled with police after the guards closed the doors to the mosque and barricaded themselves inside.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld commented that police "prevented any disturbances from taking place" after local residents closed the doors of the mosque and prevented officers from entering. The doors were opened a few hours later and police detained five people for questioning.

3. PA organization threatens escalation in border riots - Israel National News

The "National Committee of the Return Processions and Breaking the Siege" on Monday sent a threatening message to Israel and announced the continuation of the fight against the Jewish state.

In a statement, the committee which includes representatives of all the important Palestinian Arab organizations said, "The Palestinian people will not surrender and will not be hostage to Israel's blackmail policy and the committee has the means to act to thwart its plans to establish facts on the ground and tighten the siege on the Gaza Strip."

The committee called on Egypt and international bodies to pressure Israel to comply with the Palestinian demands, and if they do not then "the language of escalation would be the appropriate language to respond to Israel's violations and policies."

The organizations also threatened to intensify the violent protests along the border fence this weekend.

4. Abbas set to assume chairmanship of major UN bloc - Times of Israel

JTA - Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in New York City to assume the chairmanship of a major bloc of developing countries at the United Nations.

Abbas on Tuesday will succeed Egypt as the leader of the Group of 77. He is scheduled to address the General Assembly, which elected the "State of Palestine" in July to head the bloc.

The Palestinians' presidential spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, called it "an important historical event."

5. World Council of Churches running BDS program in Israel - United With Israel

The World Council of Churches (WCC), an organization with a pronounced anti-Israel bias since its founding, has been shipping in activists to Judea and Samaria to "witness life under occupation," according to a new report by NGO Monitor.

These international activists work under the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), WCC's flagship project on Israel and the Arab-Israel conflict. EAPPI has brought 1,800 activists to Israel since its founding in 2002.

These volunteers, known by EAPPI as "Ecumenical Accompaniers," travel to Israel on tourist visas. They are first trained for 10 days in Jerusalem, after which they are sent to various towns in Judea and Samaria as well as checkpoints and other friction points between Arabs and Jews.

6. Netanyahu seeking to meet with Trump two weeks before elections - report - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is hoping to meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington just two weeks before April's national elections, the Israel Hayom daily newspaper reported on Wednesday. Sources told the pro-Netanyahu paper that arrangements for the meeting have yet to be finalized, but that it would be held at the White House while Netanyahu is in Washington for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's policy conference in March.

"The prime minister regularly speaks at the annual AIPAC conference and the plan is that he will travel to Washington this year too, despite the proximity to the elections," a source close to Netanyahu source told the paper.

1. Report: White House ordered shocking request for potential attack on Iran - World Israel News

Following a September mortar attack near the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad that was blamed on Teheran, U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton requested that the Pentagon provide options for a retaliatory strike on Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.

The Pentagon is said to have followed through on the order from the White House. However, according to the newspaper report, it is not clear what became of those plans and how great the chances were of such an attack taking place. It is also not totally clear, says the Journal, whether President Donald Trump was even aware of the request made by his national security adviser.

Still, Pentagon and State Department officials were said to have been shocked by the nature of the request. "It definitely rattled people," a former senior administration official told the paper. "People were shocked. It was mind-boggling how cavalier they were about hitting Iran."

A spokesman for the National Security Council told the paper that the council "coordinates policy and provides the president with options to anticipate and respond to a variety of threats."

The attack that reportedly prompted Bolton to seek retaliation involved three mortars fired into Baghdad's sprawling diplomatic quarter, home to the U.S. Embassy. The shells were said to have been launched by a group aligned with Iran. The mortars landed in an open lot and no injuries were reported, but Trump's national security team conducted a series of meetings to discuss a forceful American response. There was also an air strike near a U.S. diplomatic facility in Basra, Iraq. In response, the U.S. announced it would effectively close its consulate in Basra and relocate diplomatic personnel assigned there. (Read more)

- Father, we do not yet know whether this statement was sanctioned by the President. But we ask that You erect a hedge of protection around the United States and our troops abroad to protect them against any actions of Iran. We ask for wisdom for every member of the Trump administration.

- "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."
(Psalm 9:17)

2. Pompeo: U.S. to Host Iran-Focused World Summit Next Month - Jerusalem Post

The United States plans to host a global summit focused on the Middle East, particularly Iran, next month in Poland, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News in a report published on Friday.

In an interview with the news network, Pompeo said the international gathering would be held Feb. 13 to Feb. 14 in Poland to "focus on Middle East stability and peace and freedom and security here in this region, and that includes an important element of making sure that Iran is not a destabilizing influence." (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for wisdom for Mr. Pompeo as he talks with the leaders of these Middle Eastern nations. May there be no deception aimed at him, and may he accomplish those things that are of benefit to our nation, as well as all who attend this summit.

- "Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding." (Proverbs 3:13)

3. Pompeo: US withdrawal from Syria a 'tactical change' - The Hill

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo argued in an interview broadcast early Sunday that President Trump's decision to pull U.S. troops out of Syria is a "tactical change" that does not affect his administration's goals in the Middle East.

Pompeo said on CBS's "Face the Nation" that the withdrawal of U.S. troops doesn't change efforts to destroy the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) or pressure Iran.

"Those are all real missions," he said. "The tactical change we've made and the withdrawal of those 2,000 troops is just that - a tactical change. Mission remains the same." (Read more)

- Lord, as the fallout from the President's request to bring our troops home continues, and things appear to be re-worked, we pray that only that which You have ordained come to pass. You know what is truly needed and what is not.

- "Through You we will push down our enemies; through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us." (Psalm 44:5)

4. 12 House Republicans Jump Party Lines To Vote To Fund Parts of the Government - Western Journal

Twelve House Republicans joined with Democrats in voting for legislation to fund the Departments of Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and other agencies on Thursday. The final vote was 244-180.

The chamber then voted to fund the Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration and other related agencies with a similar 243-183 vote, with 10 Republicans siding with the Democrats.

These votes came after another Wednesday to reopen the Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service and Small Business Administration. That vote netted eight Republican members. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that no agenda other than Yours will prevail in Congress at this time. We pray for those in need of funds, and we pray for our border security. Only You can take care of both.

- "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil."
(Proverbs 3:7)

5. GoFundMe Promises To Refund $20 Million in Border Wall Donations After Owner Changes Campaign - Conservative Tribune

GoFundMe will refund $20 million to over 337,000 donors after an account intending to raise money for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border changed part of its campaign. The Hill reports that the GoFundMe campaign, created last month by Brian Kolfage, originally promised that "every single penny" would be refunded to donors if the $1 billion goal was not reached.

Kolfage originally stated that the money from the campaign would go to the government to fund a border wall. However, Kolfage updated the page on Friday, saying that soon the federal government would not be able to accept the donations. He wrote that he created a nonprofit corporation called "We Build the Wall, Inc." to receive the GoFundMe contributions instead. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that if this fund-raiser and its leader are of You, that it will prevail. If it is not, You will bring refunds to all who have contributed. May Your perfect will be done.

- "Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O Lord, and that a foolish people have blasphemed Your name." (Psalm 74:18)

6. George Soros has massive wall around his home- WND

One of the world's most influential advocates for open borders lives behind a large wall. . . "The point of this is not to troll George Soros," said the Daily Caller's Benny Johnson in a video, with Soros' 10-foot wall in the background. "He's a wealthy man. He has a family. He has a wife. He has things he wants to protect.

"He chooses to protect his property with a wall. With security, with cameras, with guards." Protecting the things you love is the same issue for America, he said. "The way George Soros chooses to," said Johnson, "is with a wall - and a really big beautiful door where you can ask permission to come inside." (Read more)

- Lord God, this investigative report truly sheds light on the hypocritical stand of key power players who desire that our own nation have "open borders," thereby obliterating our sovereignty. We ask that the eyes of George Soros, Barack Obama and others be opened to the truth that, just as their own families need protection, so does our nation. Amen.

- "The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered." (Proverbs 11:9)
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31)

7. 'Acting' in name only: Mulvaney staffs up West Wing - POLITICO

The acting chief of staff's latest moves illustrate the extent to which he is settling into his new job despite its temporary-seeming title. Although Mick Mulvaney is technically only an "acting" chief of staff, he's still quickly reshaping the West Wing in his own image.

Since taking on the job's duties in late December, Mulvaney has tapped roughly half a dozen former aides to accompany him to the White House, with several more potentially on the way. And while it's not surprising for any new chief of staff to install people he knows and trusts in top jobs, administration officials say, Mulvaney's latest moves illustrate the extent to which he is settling into his new job despite its temporary-seeming title. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up Mike Mulvaney as he selects those who will serve on his staff. We especially lift up the names of the candidates who will serve on the Domestic Policy Council, as this powerful team offers input on everything from immigration to health care, drug prices and welfare reform. We pray that only those who know You will be placed in these key positions, in Your name, amen.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)

8. FBI sex trafficking bust recovers 168 kids, some never reported missing - New York Post

When FBI agents and police officers fanned out across the country last month in a weeklong effort to rescue child sex trafficking victims, they pulled minors as young as 11 from hotel rooms, truck stops and homes.

Among the 168 juveniles recovered was a population that child welfare advocates say especially concerns them: children who were never reported missing in the first place.

Advocates say the roundup reinforces the need for a standardized, nationwide approach to reporting children as missing, especially those absent from state foster care systems who are seen as most vulnerable to abuse. Concerns over unaccounted-for children aren't new, but they're receiving fresh attention amid heightened awareness of child sex trafficking. State and federal efforts are under way to streamline how police are alerted when kids go missing. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for the rescue of these children. We ask that You help them recover, heal their minds and heart, and touch their lives with Your Spirit.

- "To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness." (Isaiah 61:3)

9. Republicans and Democrats to Speak at 2019 March for Life - CNSNews.com

Four U.S. politicians, including two Democrats, will speak at the 2019 March for Life, joining an estimated 100,000 Americans who will gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 18 to peacefully protest legal abortion.

In a bipartisan show of support for the pro-life movement, U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) and State Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-La.), will join U.S. Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) onstage at the national march.

Pro-life politicians are rare in the Democratic Party, which generally maintains that a woman's "right" to have a "safe" and legal abortion is non-negotiable, and ostracizes those who disagree.

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said she was "delighted" that the four politicians would appear at the march, and added that the right to life "is a non-partisan issue. . . We are delighted to have these four pro-life champions speak at the March for Life rally," Mancini said. "The right to life is a non-partisan issue and, regardless of politics, we should all unite for life and stand against abortion, the greatest human rights abuse of our time." (Read more)

- Father God, we ask You to bless and to protect all who will be marching for LIFE on the streets of Washington, D.C. this Friday. We especially ask for good weather that day, too, in Your name, amen.

- "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." (John 14:14)

10. Pastor Loses Job After Church Sign Stating 'Homosexuality Is Still A Sin' Causes Uproar- Daily Wire

Pastor Justin Hoke of Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church in Weed, California, has lost his job following both community and alleged internal backlash over the language used in his most recent church sign.

In early January, Hoke designed a sign that read: "Bruce Jenner is still a man. Homosexuality is still a sin. The culture may change. The Bible does not."

According to SFGate, "a couple dozen" community members gathered to protest the sign on January 6. The protest, called the "Shastina Love Rally," was organized in part by local resident Amelia Mallory. A second protest was held on Sunday. According to the most recent count on the official Facebook invite page, 71 people were "going" to the event, and 182 people were "interested." (Read more)

- Father, we pray for repentance to come across our nation for a "culture" that has created sin as its base, deeply dividing the people. You are the never-changing Eternal God, and You also command us to walk in love and mercy toward others.

- "For I am the Lord, I do not change." (Malachi 3:6a)

Dems party in Puerto Rico amid shut down

It's been called a Congressional Junket. There are rules about how much complementary money can be accepted from the lobbyists who sponsor a junket. But they are usually very lavish trips with some ostensible stated purpose, in which the Congressmen spend nominal time discussing and the vast majority of the time playing. This is the case for some 39 Democratic members of Congress, their staffs and their families who are the guests in Puerto Rico of 109 lobbyists from R.J. Reynolds (the tobacco company), Facebook, Comcast, Amazon, PhRMA, Microsoft, Intel, Verizon, the National Education Association, and others, according to the Washington Examiner. The optics at this time appear hypocritical.

Fox News reports that the Democratic Party junket "comes amid the ongoing partial government shutdown that has left around 800,000 federal workers with no pay since it began Dec. 22, making it the longest government closure in US history." Meantime, Democratic Party leadership is hammering President Donald Trump about the impact of the shutdown on those not receiving paychecks, and the ultimate impact long-term on the economy. When junkets like these, and there are probably more going on attended by members of both parties, cost aplenty with chartered jets and high-end hotel rooms and meals, it's difficult for Americans to accept the sincerity of the party line-if only all of it were reported by the media.

Meantime, the "party line" is trying to keep quiet on who exactly is attending this junket. A Twitter link by freelance writer David McAlpine, however, shows a picture of Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) in a bathing suit talking to a bikini-clad woman on the beach in Puerto Rico. McAlpine also posted a 2013 Daily Mail headline by reporter James Nye stating "Senator Bob Menendez only 'likes the youngest and newest girls' says Dominican prostitute who 'attended alleged sex parties with him'." While Menendez has been the target of many corruption and ethical stories and investigations, his behavior is also associated with what happens during junkets by members of both parties.

It's likely, but no sure bet, that no taxpayer money is being spent on this, but taxpayers do pay the salaries of these elected representatives and their staffs attending. Taxpayers also must endure the votes cast in favor of big tobacco (while Democrats rail against the entire industry), big pharma (what's the real deal with socialist medicine?), and high tech companies that use their networks to influence voters toward extreme "progressive" (socialist/communist) ideologies-not to mention the National Education Association's leftist agenda with America's children. So a peek behind the scenes of the "life threatening" government shutdown reveals much. It's similar to what Ezekiel saw in Ezekiel 8:9 when the Lord told him to dig into the wall of the sanctuary, "and behold the wicked abominations they do there." It's just not right.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Classic Hymns

AT CALVARY

"When they came to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him."
(Luke 23:33)

Lyrics

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died
On Calvary.

Refrain

Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty,
At Calvary.
By God's Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I'd spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned
To Calvary.

Refrain

Now I've giv'n to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
Of Calvary.

Refrain

Oh, the love that drew salvation's plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!

Refrain

Signs and Wonders

Mysterious radio signals from deep space detected

Astronomers have revealed details of mysterious signals emanating from a distant galaxy, picked up by a telescope in Canada. The precise nature and origin of the blasts of radio waves is unknown.

Among the 13 fast radio bursts, known as FRBs, was a very unusual repeating signal, coming from the same source about 1.5 billion light years away. Such an event has only been reported once before, by a different telescope.

"Knowing that there is another suggests that there could be more out there," said Ingrid Stairs, an astrophysicist from the University of British Columbia (UBC).

"And with more repeaters and more sources available for study, we may be able to understand these cosmic puzzles - where they're from and what causes them."

The CHIME observatory, located in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, consists of four 100-metre-long, semi-cylindrical antennas, which scan the entire northern sky each day.

The telescope only got up and running last year, detecting 13 of the radio bursts almost immediately, including the repeater. (BBC) Read more.

Congressman Michael Guest Announces First Caucus Membership:
The Congressional Prayer Caucus

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) announced his first caucus membership will be the Congressional Prayer Caucus. The Caucus is bi-partisan, bicameral and includes a membership of more than 70 Members of Congress. Congressman Mark Walker (NC-06) has chaired the caucus since January 2017. Founded in 2005, the Caucus has advocated for legislation promoting religious liberties and prayer.

My first caucus choice is the foundation from which I will build other caucus memberships," Guest said, "Faith and prayer have been the cornerstone of my life as a Christian husband, father, and prosecutor, so the decision to join the Congressional Prayer Caucus stems from my own personal belief in the power that prayer can have to shape the future of our nation. I am honored to join a group of Congressional leaders that promotes prayer not only in Congress, but across our nation."

Congressman Guest is a member of Brandon Baptist Church where he serves as a Sunday school teacher and deacon.

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
