The Daily Brief: SPECIAL EDITION
H.RES. 376: Calling for a National Day of Repentance
CORRECTED COPY
Monday, June 19, 2017

" . . . if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place."
(2 Chronicles 7:14,15)

Please note this CORRECTED version of the first notice we sent out, earlier today, announcing the introduction of H. Res. 376 in Congress.

The designated number of this bill is H. Res. 376 - not H.R. 376.

All information below has been edited to reflect this corrected designation of this bill: Calling for a National Day of Repentance

Thank you.

Now . . . add the rest of us to this picture. Amen.

A "Set Time"

A "Set Time" . . . to Repent

Republicans on a baseball field under gunfire. House Democrats praying for them.

It's a historic moment in America, a beautiful picture of calling on God for His help.

Now members of Congress can add the rest of us Americans to that picture. Our national problems now require God's help. It's time for the whole nation to humble ourselves and pray to Him, repenting, asking for His help.

Introducing H.Res. 376

Introducing H.Res. 376:

Calling our Nation to a Day of Reflection and Repentance

July 2, 2017

Our Lord is always right on time, and by His Sovereign design, He has moved upon the heart of one member of Congress, Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-5) to introduce a bill in Congress that will call our nation to a day of national repentance. This Bill, H.Res. 376, calls for a "National Day of Reflection and Repentance" on July 2, 2017. H.Res. 376 has been submitted to the House Oversight and Government Reform committee, and is co-sponsored by Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-8).

Why July 2nd?

Why July 2nd?

Another "Set Time" in our National History!

Why July 2? That is the day the 2nd Continental Congress, calling on God's help, voted to break all political ties with Great Britain and become an independent nation. After the vote, John Adams wrote his wife Abigail: "The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America . . . I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

Our God Has Not Changed!

Good News!

Our God Has Not Changed!

The God Who delivered our nation 241 years ago hasn't changed. We have. We have forgotten to take solemn acts of devotion together as a nation, humbling ourselves before Him, repenting from our wicked ways. God's Word tells us that if we do turn to Him away from our wicked ways then He will hear from heaven, forgive sin, and heal our land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14).

Take Action!

Take Action towards the Passage of H.Res. 376!

Here is something YOU can do!

PRAY!!

DECREE!!

"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

. . . and . . . Urge your Congressman to be a co-sponsor of H.Res. 376, this year's day of deliverance. Urge the Committee Chairman, Trey Gowdy (202) 225-6030 to move promptly to have House Resolution 376 supported and returned for a favorable House vote.

The picture of the Democrat team praying is a great start. Now may they add the rest of us to the picture.

Sample Letter to Your Member of Congress

A Sample Letter to Your Member of Congress

Dear Congressman _____,

Good morning!

I am writing to you now to ask you to sign on as a cosponsor of H.Res. 376.

This bill was recently introduced into the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, calling our nation to observe a day of Reflection and Repentance on Sunday, July 2, 2017.

I am sure that we can agree that, in light of last week's shooting incident at the ballpark in Alexandria, this IS the perfect time for all of us to pause and to consider how we are now relating to each other as American citizens.

H.Res. 376 will require no funding to be voted out of committee . . . simply an "aye" vote will do!

Thank you for taking the time to read my message, and thank you for your untiring service to the people of our district in the Halls of Congress.

Sincerely,

(name)
(city)
