4. Mideast Policy Expert: Despite Significant Gains in Relationship With Russia, Israel Must Be Wary of Putin's True Motivations - Algemeiner

The relationship between Israel and Russia has been strengthened to unprecedented levels under Russia's current president but recent actions by Moscow in the Middle East should have Israel on alert, an international Middle East policy expert asserted in a recent op-ed published by a prominent American think tank.

Anna Borshchevskaya, an Ira Weiner Fellow at The Washington Institute, wrote that since March 2000, when President Vladimir Putin assumed office, "the two countries have significantly improved ties on a number of fronts," including tourism, communications, defense, trade, technology and innovation. The Russian community in Israel is made up of "over a million immigrants from the former Soviet Union, which bolsters Russia's ties to Israel," Borshchevskaya wrote, adding, "Russian is the third most popular language in Israel after Hebrew and English."

Despite all these improvements, Borshchevskaya believes "complexities remain" in the relationship between the two countries. Specifically, Russia's support of Iran's nuclear program and its arms trade with Syria - "arms that could fall into the possession of Hezbollah," as Borshchevskaya notes - pose significant challenges to the relationship. Additionally, Putin has "denied that Gaza-based Hamas is a terrorist organization" and met with the terror group's leaders in Moscow in March 2006 after extending a personal invitation.

5. Israel will never leave Golan, Netanyahu tells Putin - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday informed Russian President Vladimir Putin of his "red lines" regarding the security of Israel's northern borders, and stressed that the Jewish state was determined to maintain its control of the Golan Heights.

"I have come to Russia to step up coordination on security matters, to prevent mistakes, misunderstandings," Netanyahu said during the two leaders' meeting in Moscow. "We are not going back to the days when rockets were fired at our communities and our children from the top of the Golan. . . and so, with an agreement or without, the Golan Heights will remain part of [Israel's] sovereign territory."

6. Russia wants share in Israeli gas - Globes

The Russian press reported at the end of last week that Russia was seeking to enter the Israeli natural gas industry, following a meeting in Russia last Thursday between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

It is believed that Putin wants to take part in the development of the Leviathan gas reservoir. This was not the first time that Russia has tried to strengthen its foothold in the Middle East through control of gas reservoirs. In February 2013, Gazprom, the Russian state-controlled (50.1%, with 49.9% owned by private and other investors) national gas company, signed a memorandum of understanding to buy gas produced from the Tamar reservoir through a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility. Gazprom agreed to buy three million tons of LNG a year, amounting to 4.1 BCM. The project was never implemented, among other things because the Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy, and Water Resources never approved the export project.

7. Islamic nations call emergency meeting on Golan Heights 'escalation' - Times of Israel

The world's largest body of Islamic nations has called for an emergency meeting over statements made last week by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel would never relinquish control over the Golan Heights.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation will meet Tuesday at its headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss "Israeli escalation against the occupied Syrian Golan," joining others in the region to express alarm over Netanyahu's declaration.

1. In Latest Show of Submission to Iran, Obama to Buy Iranian-Made Nuclear Material - Breaking Israel News

America is purchasing 32 tons of heavy water from Iran, a critical component in a nuclear weapons program, indicating that a weapons program was implicit in the agreement signed in June. Ironically, the purchase is part of the agreement signed last June between Iran and P5+1 powers, brokered by US President Barack Obama, that was touted as an effective diplomatic path to prevent an Iranian nuclear weapons program. . . Heavy water is a byproduct of nuclear reactors that create fuel for nuclear weapons and is used to produce weapons grade plutonium. (Read more)

2. Islamic State Seeks Biological, Nuclear Materials, Counterterror Officials Warn - Voice of America

European counterterror chiefs warned at a London conference Tuesday that Islamic State militants are seeking to secure biological and nuclear materials to build rudimentary weapons of mass destruction. They said IS might be splitting into two for operational purposes, with one wing focused on defending the terror group's self-styled caliphate straddling Syria and Iraq, and the other dedicated to carrying out terror attacks in the West.

Speaking at the Security and Counter Terror Expo in London, security officials said IS militants had shown interest in obtaining nuclear, biological and chemical material for terror attacks in the West. (Read more)

3. Gen. Scaparrotti: Russia Should Understand Consequences of Buzzing U.S. Sailors - CNSNews.com

Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, the next Supreme Allied Commander/Europe and head of the United States European Command, told Congress on Thursday he agrees with other military leaders that Russia is the greatest threat to America. He also indicated that he would send a message to Russia to stop buzzing U.S. ships and planes.

"What should be our response to this gross violation of international law?" Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, asked Scaparrotti: "Chairman, I believe that from a military perspective, we should sail and fly wherever we are allowed to by international law, and we should be strong, clear and consistent in our message in that regard," Scaparrotti replied.

"This may sound a little tough," McCain told him, "but should we make an announcement to the Russians, that if they place the lives of our men and women on board Navy ships in danger, that we will take appropriate action?" "Sir, I believe that should be known, yes," Scaparrotti said. (Read more)

4. EMP alert: 2 N. Korean satellites now orbit over U.S. - WND

North Korea now has two satellites orbiting over the United States capable of performing a surprise electromagnetic pulse attack at an altitude and trajectory that evade U.S. National Missile Defenses, a national security expert warned in an interview with Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

Peter Vincent Pry told G2 Bulletin that the satellites can be commanded either to deorbit and hit a target on the ground or explode at a high altitude to create an EMP effect that would knock out the unprotected U.S. national electrical grid system and all life-sustaining critical infrastructures that depend on it. "The threat," Pry said, "continues to race, hare-like, at an alarming rate, compared to the tortoise pace of our preparations."

The satellites - KMS 3-2 and KMS 4 - are orbiting at an altitude of 300 miles, with trajectories that put them daily over the U.S. KMS 3-2 was launched in December 2012 and KMS 4 was launched Feb. 7. At such an altitude, an EMP could impact much of the continental United States, according to EMP experts. (Read more)

5. Strangest bedfellows ever in biggest brawl in D.C. - WND

The biggest fight in Washington right now is over a bill that would allow families of 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia, and it is unlike any other political battle in memory in at least one unique and dramatic way. It pits the strangest of bedfellows against each other, with a combination of Republicans and Democrats on either side.

Among Democrats supporting the bill are presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, and Sens. Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer. They are joined by such Republicans as presidential candidate Sens. Ted Cruz, John Cornyn and former Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Among those opposing the bill are President Obama and Republicans including House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan, Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Intelligence Committee chair Richard Burr. (Read more)

6a. World leaders prepare to sign Paris climate treaty - BBC

The first significant step to putting the Paris Climate Agreement into practice will take place on Friday. Around 155 countries are expected to formally sign the deal at the UN, setting in motion events that could see the treaty operational within a year. The UN says the expected record turnout for the signing shows overwhelming global support for tackling rising temperatures. (Read more)


6b. Kerry Signs 'Landmark' Paris Climate Change Agreement on Earth Day - CNSNews.com

On Earth Day, with his two-year-old granddaughter Isabelle on his lap, Secretary of State John Kerry signed the "landmark" Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the United Nations headquarters in New York, calling it "the strongest, most ambitious climate pact ever negotiated."

The non-binding agreement was approved by 196 nations last December at the U.N. Conference of the Parties (COP-21) in Paris.

The countries pledged to drastically reduce their carbon emissions "as soon as possible" in order to hold "the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2 °C above pre-industrial levels" and to make "finance flows consistent with a pathway towards low greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development." - Father, the "scientific data" giving evidence of global climate change is "iffy," at best. We repent that the nations are lining up to sign this treaty, which will place a yoke of burden upon our shoulders we do not want or need. Help us, O Lord, we pray, in Your name, amen.

7. Missouri Committee Passes Bill to Define Unborn Baby as a Person and Ban Abortions - Lifenews

A measure that would recognize unborn babies from the moment of fertilization in the Missouri Constitution passed a second House committee on Monday. The Kansas City Star reports Missouri House Joint Resolution 98 would amend the state constitution and grant the right to life to "unborn human children at every stage of biological development."

On Monday, the House Select Committee on Social Services approved the bill, moving it to the full House for consideration, according to the News-Leader. If approved by the legislature, the measure would be placed on the ballot in November for voters' approval.

Some believe the resolution would ban abortions completely in Missouri, but state Rep. Mike Moon, R-Ash Grove, who proposed the measure, is unsure. He previously said the resolution would lay the groundwork for laws or litigation to end abortion in the future, but it likely would not ban abortions right away because of Roe v. Wade.

Opponents of the bill spoke during the committee hearing on Monday, claiming it would ban abortion and certain forms of birth control and fertility treatments, according to the News-Leader. Some also called the measure unconstitutional. (Read more)

Jesus, let the hearts and minds of the legislators in Missouri be open to Your leading for these unborn children. Grant Your mercy and protection on the unborn babies. Let Your name be praised.

8. Congress probes substantial rise of campus anti-Semitism - Times of Israel

Citing reports of an increase in anti-Israel activity on college campuses, a bipartisan congressional task force on anti-Semitism asked US Education Secretary John King to outline how his department is tracking anti-Jewish bias.

The letter sent Wednesday to King by 38 members of the US House of Representatives who belong to the Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Anti-Semitism cites reports of 500 anti-Israel programs on campuses in 2014-2015 and 29 Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaigns sponsored by student groups in the same period, which it said were respectively a 38 percent and 21% increase over the previous academic year.

The signatories said in the letter that they "hope you share our view that any campus activity that threatens, harasses, or intimidates Jewish students should not be overlooked simply because it is presented as 'anti-Israel' or 'anti-Zionist.'" (Read more)

9. 'Catastrophic' Leak Found in Nuclear Waste Tank at Washington State Storage Site - Weather.com

An ongoing nuclear waste leak in Washington State has rapidly intensified over the past weekend, leaving workers scrambling to pump the waste out of the storage facility. . .

Crews at the United States Department of Energy's storage site in Hanford were alerted by leak detection alarms Sunday morning, and after lowering a camera into the affected area, the staff found 8.4 inches of radioactive and chemically toxic waste had poured between the inner and outer walls of the tank, according to KING 5.

"This is catastrophic," said former site employee Mike Geffre. "This is probably the biggest event to ever happen in tank farm history. The double shell tanks were supposed to be the saviors of all saviors." (Read more)

The prophetic Passover


Many Christians celebrated Easter a few weeks ago. Today, however, begins Passover. Passover is a Jewish tradition commemorating how God led the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery. Christians often overlook Passover, not understanding that it is most Holy and prophetic. The Israelites painted the blood of an unblemished, sacrificial lamb on their doorposts for the plague of death of the firstborn to Passover them. This is the picture of Christ, the unblemished lamb, who died on the cross for our sins. Our church family and friends celebrate the beginning of Passover with a traditional Passover Seder, a feast retelling the story of the Exodus from Egypt and foretelling the Messiah's sacrifice, return, and reign.

What Christians call the Lord's Supper, is actually a Passover Seder. Jesus said in Luke 22:15-16, "I have desired to eat this Passover with your before I suffer: For I way unto you, I will not anymore eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God." The Seder Plate is comprised of salt water, parsley, a lamb shank bone, chopped apples and nuts, horseradish root, bitter herb and a roasted egg-each element symbolizing a part of the redemption story of being delivered from Egyptian bondage. There are four symbolic cups of wine from which participants drink. The first is the cup of Sanctification, the second is the cup of the Plagues, the third is the cup of Redemption, and the fourth is the cup of Praise.

The Seder uses matzah, unleavened bread pierced with holes, in three pieces shared during the Seder. One piece is broken and then wrapped in cloth and hidden until the end and then is revealed and shared in communion. As Christ said, "Take, eat; this is my body." The cup of Redemption symbolizes the blood of the Passover lamb. It was the cup taken after the meal. When Jesus took the cup of Redemption, he said in Matthew 26:27-29, "Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."

As you can see, the Passover has several layers. God brought the Israelites out of Egypt by demonstrating to them that the blood of the Lamb saves them. He instituted a service (Passover Seder), that the Israelites were to keep forever. Exodus 12:27 says, "It is the sacrifice of the Lord's Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses." Through the Passover, God delivered the Israelites from bondage, foretold of the suffering Messiah, the redemption of sins, and the kingdom to come. When we, as Christ followers take part in Passover, we are participating in the prophetic redemption and return of Christ.

God presides over destinies of nations


It is amazing that when I write about civic responsibility and Christians that people rush to push the "unsubscribe" button. This leads me to the question, Do Christians not see that we have a civic duty in the very least as Romans 12:20 points out to: "Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good"? It is good timing to bring to our attention--to the notice of Christians, and in particular, American Christians, what a Christian farmer once said to the legislature. Here are some excerpts from a speech that was recalled from memory because it was so memorable.

"This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings...

"...There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations; and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged!... Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace, but there is no peace. The war is actually begun!...Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

These are excerpts from the speech given on March 23, 1775 by Patrick Henry. Henry understood first hand the oppression of government over religious expression. The British government and the Episcopal Church were trying to stamp out the Baptists by persecuting them--even holding them under water until they nearly drowned. Upon news of one such beating, Henry rode his horse some 50 miles to attend the trial of two pastors who were accused of preaching the gospel. During the trial, Henry interrupted and asked the court if he heard it right that these men were on trial for "preaching the gospel of the Son of God?" Henry was instrumental in changing the laws against religious persecution.

I left out the parts of his speech that pertained to the British. But I wanted to make the point that Christians in America were not always so concerned about themselves and their self-improvement, or paranoid about supporting their country, or waiting for the rapture, that they didn't take seriously what was happening to them and their nation. We as a nation are pretty far gone--one pastor friend of mine said we are in hospice--you can call it a result of judgment or just deserts or apathy or whatever you wish. The fact remains as Henry said, "There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations" and if we cared enough to get before the Lord and get right with Him, and take action as Christians, we just might make a difference.

U.S. Senate Chaplain Barry C. Black was elected in 2003.

Posted on the official U.S. Senate website is: "Chaplain's Office - Throughout the years, the United States Senate has honored the historic separation of Church and State, but not the separation of God and State.

"The first Senate, meeting in New York City on APRIL 25, 1789, elected the Right Reverend Samuel Provost, the Episcopal Bishop of New York, as its first Chaplain. "During the past two hundred and seven years, all sessions of the Senate have been opened with prayer, strongly affirming the Senate's faith in God as Sovereign Lord of our Nation."

This was a continuation of the practice of the Continental Congress during the Revolution, as Ben Franklin remarked in 1787: "In the beginning of the Contest with Great Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayer in this room for Divine protection."
The Senate Chaplain and the House Chaplain together oversee the Capitol Prayer Room, located near the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. At its dedication in 1955, Speaker Sam Rayburn stated that the Capitol Prayer Room was for members: "who want to be alone with their God."
On February 7, 1984, President Reagan addressed the National Association of Secondary School Principals:

"God...should never have been expelled from America's schools. As we struggle to teach our children...we dare not forget that our civilization was built by men and women who placed their faith in a loving God.

If Congress can begin each day with a moment of prayer...so then can our sons and daughters."

Overwhelming issues face this and other nations. No person or group can resolve them. We need the Living God to take on the battle, to relent from His judgment, and heal our land.

If we humble ourselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, He will hear from heaven, forgive sin, and heal our land.

Prayer is vital, but more than prayer is needed. Repentance is needed. The Lord is looking for us believers not just to feel sorry for the ways the world and the flesh have infiltrated our lives and our nation. He's looking for each of us sincerely to act on this deep sorrow and to repent: to confess our sins, to renounce them, to decide to turn away from them, and then actually to bear fruit, witnessing to others of a new way of conduct on His path to holiness.

There can be no revival without repentance.

On Saturday April 30, 2016 for the fifth year in a row, National Day of Repentance, a volunteer Christian ministry founded by pastors, www.dayofrepentance.org , is declaring a grassroots "sacred assembly" calling believers in Christ to take at least thirty minutes that day, individually or in groups, in homes or in churches, to pray, to fast, to confess our sins and the sins of our nation, and sincerely take action to repent.
Prayer teams in Australia, New Zealand, Malawi, Kenya and France will also be praying and repenting that day and through the National Day of Prayer on May 5.

No major logistics, expense or travel are involved. Simply mark your calendar for "30 on 30" --- thirty minutes of repentance time on April 30. Inform your pastor and your networks. During your repentance time also confess our national sins including, but not limited to, killing of the unborn, idolatry, sexual perversions, and failing to stand with His chosen people, Israel.

We all fall short of His glory. But we are made in His image and He calls us to be holy as He is holy. Repentance is a wonderful privilege by which we are not only forgiven of our sins but have the choice to choose His Purity. He leads us on His paths of righteousness; He loves to cleanse each of us to become His Bride without spot or wrinkle; a glorious church, holy and without blemish.

If we do our part and repent on April 30 we can be certain that He will do His.

The National Day of Prayer

Our Mission

The mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force is to mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture.


The First Thursday of May

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America's leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible. Significance of the National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation as it enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. The unanimous passage of the bill establishing the National Day of Prayer as an annual event, signifies that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the beginning.

Like Thanksgiving or Christmas, this day has become a national observance placed on all Hallmark calendars and observed annually across the nation and in Washington, D.C. Every year, local, state, and federal observances were held from sunrise in Maine to sunset in Hawaii, uniting Americans from all socio-economic, political and ethnic backgrounds in prayer for our nation. It is estimated that over two million people attended more than 30,000 observances - organized by approximately 40,000 volunteers. At state capitols, county court houses, on the steps of city halls, and in schools, businesses, churches and homes, people stopped their activities and gathered for prayer.


The National Day of Prayer is Ours

The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds. Mrs. Shirley Dobson, NDP chairman, reminds us: "We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep. I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too."

Li Jiangong and his wife Ding Cuimei stood in front of the bulldozer in a last-ditch protest. A government-backed firm had ordered the demolition of the small church they ran in Zhumadian, in eastern China's Henan province, on April 14. In the end, the workmen simply ran over the couple, burying them in a deep pit. Li somehow managed to dig himself out, according to the religious-advocacy group China Aid, but Ding suffocated in the dark earth.

"Bulldozing and burying alive Ding Cuimei, a peaceful and devout Christian woman, was a cruel, murderous act," said China Aid president Bob Fu in a statement. "This case is a serious violation of the rights to life, religious freedom and rule of law."

Global Wave of Earthquakes a Prelude to Redemption?


An end of days scenario has suddenly appeared in Japan and Ecuador as seven major earthquakes hit both coasts of the Pacific in 96 hours. Many seismologists are convinced this is only the beginning of a global phenomenon, but rabbis and people of faith recognize this as part of the Messianic process.

Over 500 people were killed on Saturday when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador. 1,700 people are still missing, over 4,000 are injured, and thousands more are wandering homeless. A 7.3-magnitude quake hit Japan's southern island last Thursday, while over 600 smaller tremors continued to shake the survivors. The death toll in Japan stands at 47 killed, more than 1,000 injured, 8 missing, and over 100,000 left homeless.

Other less-deadly earthquakes were felt around the world. Many scientists are convinced this recent epidemic earthquakes is just a prelude to increased seismic activity around the globe in unprecedented magnitudes. University of Colorado seismologist Roger Bilham told the Express, "The current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude. And if they delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega-earthquakes."
This apocalyptic scenario could easily be repeated with devastating results in many developed countries, including the US. Nuclear power plants in California, New York, Washington State, and Arkansas are situated near major fault lines. Other plants in Maine, Pennsylvania, and Virginia have raised concern of their earthquake survivability with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission but were deemed within acceptable standards.

Especially at risk is the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in California, which is situated directly on the ocean, making it very vulnerable to tsunamis. It sits in an earthquake red zone, in close vicinity to four active fault lines, one lying only 2,000 feet away from the plant's two nuclear reactors. S. David Freeman, a former general manager of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, called the nuclear plant "a disaster waiting to happen."

Rabbi Yitzchak Batzri, a noted Kabbalist from Jerusalem, spoke to Breaking Israel News about how the wave of earthquakes fits into the Messianic process. There is no doubt that the earthquakes have a divine origin, he said. "The potential of earthquakes is in the world from the first days of creation, but the power that brings it into existence is God's will," Rabbi Batzri said. . .
The rash of earthquakes has brought about one of those rare scenarios in which scientific theory and prophetic vision agree: earthquakes threaten our future. Man would be wise to prepare, spiritually and physically, for what lies ahead. (Breaking Israel News) Read more here.
