The Daily Brief

1. Iran sending warships close to US borders

A senior Iranian naval commander says his country has sent several warships to the Atlantic Ocean, close to U.S. maritime borders for the first time.

The commander of Iran's Northern Navy Fleet, Admiral Afshin Rezayee Haddad, is quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying Saturday that the vessels have already begun the journey to the Atlantic Ocean via waters near South Africa.

"Iran's military fleet is approaching the United States' maritime borders, and this move has a message," Haddad reportedly said, according to Fars, a semi-official Iranian news agency.

- Heavenly Father, awaken our leadership to seriously deal with this threat. You know all that is hidden, such as all the parties and other nations involved, and the layers of purposes for this action. We repent for our national leaderships actions, and beg for mercy. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, and the unfaithful will be uprooted from it." (Proverbs 2:22 )

2. Khamenei: US has 'controlling, meddlesome' attitude toward Iran

Iran's Supreme Leader said on Saturday, the United States would overthrow the Iranian government if it could, adding Washington had a "controlling and meddlesome" attitude towards the Islamic Republic, Iranian media reported. ..."American officials publicly say they do not seek regime change in Iran. That's a lie. They wouldn't hesitate a moment if they could do it," he was quoted as saying by the semi-official Fars news agency.

But he reiterated that in dealing with '[enemies', Iran should be prepared to change tactics but not compromise on its main principles.

- Abba Father, there are some very serious threats to our security as a nation contained in this article, and the threats need to be acted upon in an appropriate manner, not just ignored. Father, expose all that is involved and what actions need to be taken, so the public is aware of the danger being presented here, in Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

-"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." (Psalm 9:17)

3. Boehner Vows No Default as House GOP Readies Bill on Debt Limit

House Republicans are closing in on a plan to lift the federal borrowing limit for a year while addressing Medicare reimbursements and military retirement benefits in a bill that could be introduced as soon as next week.

House Speaker John Boehner promised the nation would not default as pressure mounted for action on the debt ceiling, which was reinstated Friday after being suspended last fall in a deal to end the government shutdown.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said Friday that "extraordinary measures" the federal government uses to fund the nation will not "last beyond Thursday, Feb. 27." "At that point, Treasury would be left with only the cash on hand and any incoming revenue to meet our country's commitments," Lew said.

The legislation is likely to include a nine-month patch to halt a planned reduction in Medicare payments to doctors, reports The Wall Street Journal, and a reverse a planned decrease in cost-of-living adjustments for military retirees who are still of working age.

- Abba Father, when are these elected officials going to accept the reality that our national debt is totally and completely out of control? If we acted in a similar pattern we would most likely face severe legal actions against us. We are thankful that someone acknowledges that cutting Medicare and veteran benefits are not the place to save funds. However, we know there are a tremendous number of 'pork' projects in these bills, and these projects should be fully removed and denied. We fall before You, and repent for how far we as a nation have fallen. In the Name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3)

4. Backlash against immigration plan floods Boehner's website

When House Speaker John A. Boehner posted online the GOP's new immigration principles, including legalizing most illegal immigrants, he allowed comments. And they are brutal. The standards were posted on Monday and by Friday at 11 a.m. there were nearly 4,500 comments, and they were overwhelmingly opposed to what Mr. Boehner was proposing.

"This plan is amnesty plain and simple," said one commenter who signed on as "Stefanie." After living thru Reagans[sic.] amnesty the one thing we can say is amnesty doesn't work. It just entices more people to come illegally so they can get amnesty next time. As a parent I don't reward bad behavior. Why is our government doing so?"

Read more:

- Heavenly Father, may the comments to this posted GOP article on immigration be fully understood by GOP congressional members. They are supposedly elected to serve us, yet they act as if all choices are their opinions only. Father, we ask for Your mercy and that You will confront these elected officials in a manner where they 'awaken' to how they are to act, in Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

-"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21)

5. Obama: 'Whenever I can take steps without legislation,' I will

President Obama said Saturday that he's doing everything he can to reduce income inequality in America.

In his weekly address, Mr. Obama said too many Americans haven't seen increases in their wages, while the wealthy "are doing better than ever."

"We've got to reverse those trends," Mr. Obama said. "We've got to build an economy that works for everyone, not just a fortunate few."

Toward his goal, the president noted that he's taken steps through executive action in recent weeks to boost job training, to guarantee every child has access to quality education, and to boost income and retirement savings.

- Heavenly Father, it is a fantasy that all people should have the same 'pay' as everyone else, no matter what kind of work they perform, or whether they even bother to work. We acknowledge that there are celeb personalities in sports and entertainment as well as corporation leaders who are excessively overpaid, which is driven by the spirits of greed and arrogance, but to 'strip' the pay from ordinary hard working people to give to those who make no effort to earn it, is an evilness as well. We know that You alone, Father, can solve this issue; we seek Your direction, in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

-"Is anything too hard for the Lord?" (Genesis 18:14a)

6. Democratic senators mull stronger regs on US power grid, following news of 2013 sniper attack

Concerns about a sophisticated attack on a California power station prompted top Senate Democrats on Friday to ask officials about whether stronger federal standards are needed to protect the U.S. power grid.

The letter follows news reports earlier this week about a 2013 sniper attack on the electrical substation that lasted 52 minutes and knocked out 17 transformers.

The April 16, 2013, attack on the Pacific Gas & Electric's Metcalf transmission substation had not been widely publicized until The Wall Street Journal report Wednesday. The attack started when at least one person entered an underground vault to cut telephone cables, then attackers fired more than 100 shots, causing millions in damage. Workers were able to avert a blackout but it took them 27 days to repair the damage.

Read more:

- Abba Father, the danger to the power grid has been a serious issue for a long time, especially since they joined so much of the grid together, so if one part goes down, so does a lot more. This can occur by terror attacks, EMP attacks, and sniper attacks as reported here, so this report needs to not just be mulled over but requires very serious and dedicated action. Be in the midst of this discussion we pray, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men." (Psalm 12:1)

7. NSA reportedly collects less than 30 percent of US phone data

The National Security Agency's massive and now-exposed data gathering program on Americans' telephone use picks up less than 30 percent of calls, according to two publish newspaper reports.

The reports say the agency's anti-terrorism, data-gathering project has been unable to adapt to the country's rapid and large-scale transition from landlines to cells phone. And NSA data collection has declined significantly since the program started in 2006 when it collected data on nearly all U.S. calls, anonymous officials and sources told The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. Read more:
- Abba Father, what this article appears to say is that landline phones used in some homes and most businesses and corporations are the ones being targeted by NSA surveillance, while there are technical issues stopping lots of mobile phones being tracked. This causes a security distortion and imbalance in the surveillance. It has been repeatedly reported how mobile phones are the ones most often used for lots of terrorist acts and communication, so it appears what should be heard is not that massive privacy has been invaded. Have mercy Father, rising up and causing all kinds of disruptions to this entire dark surveillance, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:9 -10)

8. 'Dereliction of duty' charge leveled against Virginia AG

When Barack Obama and his attorney general, Eric Holder, decided that the federal Defense of Marriage Act was something they didn't like and they simply stopped enforcing or defending it, nothing happened to them. When a long list of U.S. attorneys did the same thing, literally getting up at one table in a courtroom and sitting down with the opposing side in disputes over the definition of marriage, nothing happened to them either.

But if the National Organization for Marriage sees its efforts come to fruition, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring won't be so lucky. Herring recently announced that he was switching sides, and would be advocating for same-sex marriage in the state, prompting the NOM team to call for his impeachment.

"Attorney General Herring swore an oath to defend the constitution of the Commonwealth, yet now he is participating in a lawsuit against the very people he is sworn to represent, the citizens of Virginia who preserved marriage in their constitution. This malfeasance and neglect of duty is not only a disgrace, it's an impeachable offense under the constitution," said NOM President Brian Brown.

- Heavenly Father, we ask that You rise up and stop these elected officials who decide that their personal opinions and options are all that matter, and the laws established by the majority vote of citizens can just be overthrown. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate." (Proverbs 8:13)

The Daily Jot

A double minded man and prophetic national demise
James 1:8 says, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." This is no more evident than in the occupant of the Oval Office's remarks on February 6 at the National Prayer Breakfast. He said, "In my life, He directed my path to Chicago and my work with churches who were intent on breaking the cycle of poverty in hard-hit communities there...It led me to embrace Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior." He also quoted Lincoln in saying "our concern should not be whether God is on our side, but whether we are on God's side." The speech was both the height of hypocrisy and immutable evidence that the president is at the very least confused about who God is and what it is to be Christian.
First, this nation's leadership is not on God's side. Support of tax funded abortion, special rights for homosexuality, refusal to enforce laws specifying marriage is between a man and a woman, embracing of the Muslim Brotherhood and Islam in general, are all just the tip of the iceberg of immorality and godlessness that this president and his administration has enthusiastically embraced. He says, "...around the world freedom of religion is under threat." He said, "Nations that do not uphold these rights sow the bitter seeds of instability and violence and extremism. So freedom of religion matters to our national security." Yet in his support for Islam is found the most violent, extreme persecution of Christianity known to man.
He said, "I've felt the love that faith can instill in our lives during my visits to the Holy Land and Jerusalem -- sacred to Jews and Christians and Muslims. I've felt it in houses of worship -- whether paying my respects at the tomb of Archbishop Romero in San Salvador, or visiting a synagogue on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Blue Mosque in Istanbul or a Buddhist temple in Bangkok... In Isaiah, we're told "to do right. Seek justice. Defend the oppressed." The Torah commands: "Know the feelings of the stranger, having yourselves been strangers in the land of Egypt." The Koran instructs: "Stand out firmly for justice."There is only one God. Exodus 20:3: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Yet this president mocks God in both word and deed. He uses religion to promote his big government agenda on global warming, HIV/AIDS, illegal immigration, and poverty. The problem here is that he is right about some things--that we need to be on God's side; that nations that do not uphold religious freedom sow seeds of instability and violence. The seeds this president has sown are such. We see it in all those countries where he has used the Presidency and the United States to support the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda. The seeds are sown in our own nation by his policies. The harvest to come of economic, moral and social instability could be a prophetic lever to bring the nation back to the Lord. As Christians, we have the answer. May we speak boldly as we ought to speak and act wisely as we ought to act.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A Brave German Woman

'Brave German Woman' Rebukes Islam's Lie

Heidi Mund Throws Down the Gauntlet Against Islamic Infiltration

SPEYER, Germany -- Islam continues to grow in power and influence across Europe. But at a recent concert in Germany, one Christian woman decided to stand up to it.

"The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace" by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins was supposed to be an interfaith event to bring Christianity and Islam together. But when the Muslim imam began his call to prayer during the concert, he was interrupted by a small woman in the balcony proclaiming that "Jesus Christ alone is Lord of Germany," and shouting, "I break this curse."

She also invoked the name of Martin Luther and warned the audience that what was happening was "a lie."

The video went viral.

'Brave German Woman'

The mysterious Christian lady became known on the Internet simply as the "brave German woman."

It happened on Nov. 10, 2013 at the Memorial Church of the Reformation in the Rhineland city of Speyer, built to honor Martin Luther.

It isn't just any church. It's a monument to the Protestant Reformation and a memorial to the spiritual transformation of Germany.

It was at this spiritual landmark that a Muslim imam was invited to give the call to prayer. When the brave German woman, whose real name is Heidi Mund, heard about the event, she prayed.

"I was asking Jesus, 'Lord, shall I go there?' So, when I have to drive one and half hours, you know, I think, 'Is it worth it to go or can others go?' So, this is human laziness, yeah?" Mund recalled.

She grabbed her German flag emblazoned with the words "Jesus Christ is Lord" and headed for the concert, still not sure what she would do when she got there.

"Until the imam started with his shouting, I did not really know what to do. I was just prepared for what God wants me to do," she told CBN News.

Then the Muslim call to prayer began, and Heidi said she felt something rising up inside her.

A Holy Anger

"I would call it a holy anger," she recounted. "And then I rose with my flag and I was calling and proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord over Germany."

"My purpose was, I broke this curse because [Muslims] say, 'Only Allah is the Lord. He is God, the only God.' And I broke this curse in this church and I broke it over my country," she continued.

And she repeated the words of Martin Luther in 1521 after he refused to recant his faith in scripture alone: "Here I stand. I can do no other" and "Save the church of Martin Luther!"

Video shows another concert-goer trying to calm her by saying, "This is a concert for peace."

Mund can be heard responding in German, "No it's not! Allahu Akbar is what Muslims scream while murdering people! Don't be fooled! Don't be fooled! This is a lie!"

She was thrown out of the church.

"They should have thrown the imam out and not me because I am a believer in Jesus Christ, but he serves another god. This Allah is not the same god. And this is not the truth."

"This 'allahu akbar,' they use it when they kill people," she argued. "This is, for me, worship to an idol, to their god. And when a Muslim calls 'allahu akbar' in a church, that means this church is not a church anymore, it's a mosque."

Church No Place for Imams?

With Mund at the concert was Kamel, who did not give his full name for safety reasons. Before coming to Germany he lived in the Muslim world.

Kamel told CBN News that an imam has no place in a church.

"Islam is one of the reasons for persecution, Muslims have persecuted me. They don´t want me to tell others that Jesus Christ is my Savior."

Also with Mund was Marion, who has also asked that her last name not be included. She belongs to a group calling itself the White Rose, which took the same name as the World War II anti-Nazi resistance group shown in the film "Sophie Scholl: the Final Days."

"Islam is inhuman, the same as in the Nazi time. For me, personally, there is no difference. We want to show Germany and the world that we will not bow down to the slow Islamization of our country," Marion said.

Afraid of Muslims?

Mund said she knows that her first television interview could place her in danger.

"Many people ask me, 'Are you afraid of the Muslims?' And I can only say, 'No, I'm not afraid of them,'" she told CBN News. "I know my God, the living God of the Bible can protect for me for as long as he wants. When my time is over I will go to him."

An evangelist by gifting, Mund grew up an atheist in communist East Germany. But now, as a believer, her burden and her ministry is for the spiritual rebirth of Germany.

"I feel I have to protect my country and my people. I am only a little woman but I feel I have to protect them," she said.

Reviving a Dead Nation?

Some might associate Germany with the Nazis, but Germany was once a base for world missions, sending missionaries to Africa and Korea and to America.

Mund is trusting God for a miracle in what is a very wealthy and, some would say, spiritually dead nation. "I know nothing is impossible for my God. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing," she said.

"From a human point of view I feel our country is lost. It's already lost. It's done. Because I see so many changes in the country, in every area," she continued. "But I trust God that he has a 'Plan A' and that my country is not lost and that He will reach us and He will come and change the whole situation." (CBN) View the video of this incident here.

- Father God, we ask You today for a release from Your Holy Spirit of the same spirit of courage in our nation to fall upon Your people, that we will speak against the lies of Islam, wherever they may be. Lord God, we fear not, but we fear only You, Holy One, and we ask this prayer in Your Mighty Name, amen and amen.

- "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6)

DOJ: Lawless Again

Justice Department Announcement Illustrates Administration's Lawlessness

February 08, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, news reports indicated that Attorney General Eric Holder will announce sweeping recognition to "marriages" of same-sex couples, even in natural marriage states.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement:

"The news that the Justice Department will extend sweeping recognition to 'marriages' of same-sex couples, even in states that do not recognize such unions, is yet another illustration of the lawlessness of this administration.

" While the Supreme Court s ruling in the Windsor case last summer required the federal government to recognize such unions in states which also recognize them, the Court was conspicuously silent on the status of such couples when they reside in a state which considers them unmarried. The Obama administration s haste to nevertheless recognize such unions in every state actually runs counter to the Windsor decision s emphasis on the federal government s obligation to defer to state definitions of marriage.

"Attorney General Holder' s announcement -- like his recognition of same-sex 'marriages' in Utah despite the Supreme Court granting a stay of the District Court decision overturning that state 's definition of marriage -- illustrates the importance of Congressional action to pass the State Marriage Defense Act (H.R. 3829), introduced by Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas). It would require the federal government to defer to state definitions of marriage -- as required by Windsor -- by not treating persons as 'married' when they are unmarried according to the law of their state of legal residence," concluded Perkins.

New USPS "Forever" Roll of 100 Flag Stamps Violates Protocol

Recently, we visited our local post office and asked for a roll of 100 "Forever" stamps. When asked which picture we wanted on the stamps, we asked if they still had the flag. When the answer was "yes," we purchased those stamps.

Well, when we returned home and opened up the roll of stamps, sure enough -- there was the flag -- shown flying to the LEFT, not to the RIGHT.
To me, this seemed odd, and "not right" . . . so I went to Wikipedia and checked out "Displaying the flag."

This is what I learned:

The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the flag of the United States. It is Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.
"When the flag is displayed against a wall vertically or horizontally, its union (stars) should be at the top, to the flag's own right, and to the observer's left." (Wikipedia) Read more.
> > > Because this new stamp seems to show each flag flying "backwards," with the union shown on the left, we will refrain from using the rest of the roll (after we used the first three by mistake). In the meantime, we continue to buy books of 20 stamps each, with the "regular flag" shown on each one.
In this season of lawlessness, we wish to honor our country by using only a stamp that legally depicts the flag of our nation. Thank you.

North Carolina:
Abortion Rate Lowest Since Roe v. Wade

CitizenLink is proud to work with the North Carolina Family Policy Council and other family policy organizations across the country to stand for marriage, life and religious freedom. Learn more about the one in your state.

Generating quite a bit of press attention this week is a new report from the Guttmacher Institute showing the national abortion rate has dropped to its lowest point since 1973 - the year the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand. . .
So what is causing the steady decline in abortions nationwide - and could the decline be attributed to the increase in pro-life laws at the state level? During the same time period that the national abortion rate dropped 13 percent (between 2008 and 2011), Guttmacher reports that 106 new laws aimed at restricting abortions were implemented at the state level, including in North Carolina. Although the report acknowledges a "proliferation of state-level abortion restrictions," it claims there is "no evidence that the overall drop in abortion incidence was related to the decrease in [abortion] providers or to restrictions implemented between 2008 and 2011." Instead, Guttmacher attributes most of the decline in abortions to fewer unintended pregnancies, the economy, and possibly "more effective" use of contraception among young women, while emphasizing that its survey of abortion providers is not equipped to measure the impact of state-level pro-life laws on abortion rates. (CitizenLink) Read the full report here.

Signs and Wonders:

(Washington State):
Explosives fail to blow up huge ice dam

NEAR TWISP, Wash. - Explosives failed to break up a huge ice dam that's backed up a creek and caused flooding concerns near the town of Twisp in north central Washington.

Scott Miller, the Okanogan County Homeland Security Coordinator, said the ice dam is 15 feet deep on Poorman Creek, which is four miles southwest of Twisp.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said the dam is 300 yards long and is causing some flooding where water has backed up. Miller said water from Poorman Creek is flowing around either side of the ice dam.
Rogers said Okanogan County Commissioners had to issue an emergency order Monday to give authorities permission to try to blow the dam up with explosives.

Miller said three attempts were made to blow up the dam, but all failed. Miller said authorities will make another attempt later this week to blast the dam, depending on weather conditions. (King5.com) Read more.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
