THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. Blessed are the people he has chosen as his own." (Psalm 33:12)
Please note: This is an abbreviated edition of the Daily Brief.
The Daily Brief
1. Beijing Leaders Considering End of Communist Rule - Epoch Times
According to a high-level source in Beijing, key leaders in the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Politburo have reached four points of consensus that will be announced on or around the 18th Party Congress. The tenor of the decision is that China will take the path of democracy. The news has been circulated hurriedly in Beijing.
- Father, we receive this news with hope, but are taking this with a grain of salt. May everything hidden be revealed, and as the hope of democracy rises we ask that You change the hearts of the Chinese leadership toward You.
- "I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the great congregation" [Psalm 40:9]
2. One in seven thinks end of world is coming: poll - Reuters
Nearly 15 percent of people worldwide believe the world will end during their lifetime and 10 percent think the Mayan calendar could signify it will happen in 2012, according to a new poll.
- Father, we bind fear, and ask for faith in You to rise up in America and the world.
- "For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." [2 Timothy 1:7]
3. Oklahoma court rejects ballot initiative on "personhood" -Reuters
The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Monday struck down a ballot initiative that sought voter approval of a so-called "personhood" amendment to the state constitution to define an embryo as a human being from the moment of conception.
- Father, we are sad about this decision, and continue to repent of the shedding of innocent blood in our nation.
- "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent." [Acts 17:30]
4. May Day Draws Occupy Protests and Immigrant Rights Demonstrations - Fox News
Activists across the United States joined worldwide May Day protests on Tuesday, with Occupy Wall Street members in several cities leading demonstrations against financial institutions and immigrant rights activists calling attention to the plight of the undocumented.
- Lord, we pray for truth to be known in the midst of these protests.
- "for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds" [2 Peter 2:8]
5. Genetically modified crops' results raise concern - SF Gate
Biotechnology's promise to feed the world did not anticipate "Trojan corn," "super weeds" and the disappearance of monarch butterflies.
- Father, we ask for Your mighty protection over the land, and a hedge of protection around it.
- "So I sought for a man among then who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found no one." [Ezekiel 22:30]
6. FBI arrests 5 men in alleged plot to blow up bridge near Cleveland - Washington Times
FBI agents have arrested five people on suspicion of conspiring to blow up a bridge near Cleveland, three of whom were identified by federal authorities as self-proclaimed anarchists who formed a small group and considered a series of evolving plots over several months.
- Lord, thank You for stopping this plot and revealing the secrets. We ask Your continued help for our nation.
- "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the Lord." [Proverbs 21:31]

4. Six army battalions called up under emergency orders to meet growing threat on Egypt, Syria borders - Times of Israel
The IDF has issued emergency call up orders to six reserve battalions in light of new dangers on the Egyptian and Syrian borders. And the Knesset has given the IDF permission to summon a further 16 reserve battalions if necessary, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

The Heart of America
The news media is in overdrive and the election year, in reality, has not yet started. But there is an excitement in the air from socialists across the board. They know that come November, America is crossing the precipice from the social contract of the Founding Fathers into the land of the progressive contract on governing people. They have to be excited that the foundational principles of government protecting the rights that can only be granted by the Creator will be put aside for government determining what those rights are and protecting them how it sees fit. You see, both men running for the office of president believe in a higher power, its just not the Creator, or even the nature of the Creator, YHVH.
This historical election could well be the crowning moment for a new American socialism where government and its unyielding power replaces YHVH as the creator of human rights at the center, or heart, of what drives our nation. The pollsters are in overload, giving the daily trend already for a campaign that does not begin in ernest until the nominations are final. But Americans are witnessing the massive news coverage of who is winning today. Don't be fooled. The popularity percentages are not what will determine who is president. It matters very little who is ahead in the polls. The person winning the most electoral votes will capture the presidency.
Christians often debate their role in determining government. Scriptures relating to this include Romans 13:1, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Daniel 2:21 speaks of YHVH, "And he changes the times and the seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding." There are many verses to say that YHVH is in control of who is placed in leadership. It is an interesting relationship between YHVH and the people of any nation. For YHVH judges not only the individual people, but also the nations.
Peter and the Apostles certainly had an opinion on whether to subject themselves to the authority of the Sadducees. Acts 5:29: Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men." The general cop out by those not wanting to take action is that YHVH is in control of everything, so we get what we deserve. I do not deny that. The "deserve" part, however, is key. Our Father is one of great benevolence who loves His people. And if His people do the right thing, YHVH is perhaps predisposed to honor their actions as they align with His will. He wants His people to be active, to walk in His ways and to be salt and light. We, in America, are headed into dark times, unless We the People form the hedge and stand in the gap for what is right and acceptable to the LORD. It is a matter of the heart.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
