The Daily Brief - Thursday, November 10, 2011

"Your watchmen shall lift up their voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion." (Isaiah 52:8)

The Daily Brief

1. Iran Sought Miniaturized Nuclear-Weapon Design to Fit Missiles, IAEA Says - Bloomberg

Iran continued working on nuclear weapons at least until last year, including efforts to shrink a Pakistani warhead design to fit atop its ballistic missiles, a report from United Nations inspectors said.

- Lord, even with sanctions in place, Iran has continued to pursue a course of evil with regard to Israel and the West. We ask that You stop their inevitable march toward confrontation.

- "No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me, says the Lord." (Isaiah 54:17)

2. Italy at Breaking Point, Merkel Calls for 'New Europe' - CNBC

Italian borrowing costs reached breaking point on Wednesday after Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's insistence on elections instead of an interim government opened the way to prolonged instability and delays to economic reform.

- Lord, we praise You that no matter what we see or hear, You are in control of all world events. We pray that not one tick of the prophetic clock will occur without Your sanction.

- "I know that whatsoever God does, it shall be forever; nothing can be added to it, or anything taken from it: and God does it, that men should fear before Him." (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

3. Storm of Epic Magnitude Hits Alaska - Fox News

Packing hurricane-force winds, an Alaskan storm of "epic proportions" slammed into coastal communities, sending some residents fleeing to higher ground as it tore roofs from homes and knocked out power. The strongest storm to hit the state in four decades sent water levels rising late Wednesday night in Nome, with flooding reported in low-lying areas, the National Weather Service said.

Read more:

- Lord, we pray for mercy and comfort for the people of Alaska. We repent, Lord, for the sins of America. May Your people, who are called by Your Name, turn from following the ways of the world, seek Your Face, and listen to the soft whisper of Your Voice.

- "If My people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek MY face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

4. Air Force dumped military remains in landfill - Washington Post

The Dover Air Force Base mortuary for years disposed of some dead troops' body parts by burning them and dumping the ashes in a Virginia landfill, a practice that officials have since abandoned in favor of burying the remains at sea. The Dover mortuary, which is the main point of entry for all of America's war dead, and is under investigation for mishandling remains, sent remains to the landfill from 2003 until 2008, according to Air Force officials. The manner of disposal was typically withheld from the relatives of fallen service members.

- Lord, we pray that all who participated in this flagrant disrespect for our fallen heroes be removed from any contact with military remains - permanently.

- "Though the Lord be high, yet He has respect for the lowly" (Psalm 138:6)

5. Confusion after US emergency alert test - AFP

The first national test of a US national alert system left many Americans confused and some said the system failed in its goal to reach all broadcasters in the country.

Many people watching television at 1900 GMT heard the familiar scratchy noises followed by the test announcement -- designed to alert Americans of national emergencies -- but others apparently did not.

- Father, we ask for Your wisdom in having a "national alert system" in the first place. Nearly every local government in America currently has an emergency broadcast system, so why is the government trying to "re-invent the wheel?" We ask that You uncover any agendas, and protect America from them.

- "Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves." (Psalm 140:8)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

There's no one like your God, Jeshurun! He rides through the heavens to help you. In majesty he rides through the clouds. The eternal God is your shelter, and his everlasting arms support you. He will force your enemies out of your way and tell you to destroy them. So Israel will live securely. Jacob's spring will be left alone in a land of grain and new wine. Dew will drip from Israels skies. You are blessed, Israel! Who is like you, a nation saved by the Lord. He is a shield that helps you and a sword that wins your victories. Your enemies will come crawling to you,and you will stomp on their backs. (Deuteronomy 33:26-29)

1. New Israeli-Palestinian land dispute rises as Dead Sea water levels drop - Haaretz

The retreat of the Dead Sea is a problem not only for environmentalists, but for the Civil Administration's legal experts who must establish who owns the land uncovered by the receding coastline. In some parts, the coast has retreated by as much as half a kilometer, necessitating the relocation of parking lots, stores and other tourist facilities that are now too far from the water.

2.Peres to Palestinians: Peace will be achieved through talks, not UN - Ha'aretz

Middle East peace will be achieved with direct talks between Palestinians and Israel, not through unilateral action at the United Nations, President Peres said at the annual memorial commemorating the assassination of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in Jerusalem.

3. UN Reports Security Council Divided on Palestinians - VOA News

A draft report from the U.N. Security Council says members cannot reach a decision on whether to admit the Palestinian territories as a member state.

4. Israel tests new nuclear-capable missile, ends joint air exercise with Italy, starts missile drill - Debka File

Foreign sources identified the ICBM as an upgraded Jericho 3 said able to deliver a 750-kilo nuclear warhead to a distance of 7,000 kilometers - further, if fitted with a smaller warhead. Western intelligence experts estimate that 42 missiles with conventional warheads are enough to seriously disable Iran's main nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan and Arak.

5. Second Iranian threat to destroy Israel names its Dimona reactor - Debka File

debkafile's military sources interpret this to mean a missile attack on American bases in Europe and US Sixth Fleet vessels in the Mediterranean. "The smallest action by Israel [against Iran] and we will see its destruction," Gen. Jazayeri went on to say. "We have plans of reprisal ready for any attack."

The Daily Jot

The 3 part harmony of prophetic destiny

The United Nations released its nuclear report on Iran. It said, "The Agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran's nuclear programme. After assessing carefully and critically the extensive information available to it, the Agency finds the information to be, overall, credible. The information indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device. The information also indicates that prior to the end of 2003, these activities took place under a structured programme, and that some activities may still be ongoing." In other words, the former UN nuclear chief, Islamist Moahmed El Baradei overlooked the small issue of Iran developing a nuclear weapon.

Before a news conference at the G-20 Summit, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his United States counterpart were caught on mic discussing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Sarkozy said, "I can't stand him. He's a liar." The US president replied, "You're tired of him; what about me? I have to deal with him every day." Journalists had agreed not to report the exchange because the two did not know the mic was live. But as news travels among them, one broke the story and the rest followed thereafter. Instead of apologizing for the vindictive words, White House press used the opportunity to chastise Netanyahu for not holding direct talks to establish a Palestinian state.

With the US and European attitude toward Israel and the pressure applied to establish a terrorist state splitting Israel into two parts with East Jerusalem as the terrorist state's capital as a backdrop, the world financial markets continue to decline precipitously. CNBC reported that US stocks and bonds plummeted on news that German, Italy, Greece, and France equity markets were down 2.2 percent. CNBC quoted Marc Chandler, Brown Brothers Harriman chief currency strategist saying, "It's not just Italy. The contagion is spreading. They've got to stop this. The French bond spread to the German bund is at a new high. Three month Libor is at its highest level in more than a year...all of this is showing rising tensions."

Many want the US Federal Reserve to save the European markets. Trouble is, the US debt level is the highest in history. All this is occurring while Iran is allowed to build a nuclear weapon with the stated intention that Israel should be wiped off the map; the US president is pressuring Israel to split its nation into two pieces; and European and US leaders are ridiculing the Prime Minister of Israel. There is tremendous worldwide peril and the common ground is found in a tiny Middle Eastern country where world leaders are fixated on seeing some form of worldly justice. Zechariah 12:9 says, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." The type and shadow is before us.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Good News Corner:

NASA Discovery Reveals Planet Birth Coincides with Genesis Creation Account

According to author Paul Hutchins, discoveries made by NASA in 2004 appear to confirm the Genesis account of planet formation to be scientifically accurate and may help close the gap of controversy between today's science and the Bible's simple record of Creation.

NASA's Hubble and Spitzer Telescopes discovered locations in our Milky Way Galaxy in 2004, where infant stars are born and mature. Enveloped around these young stars were "proto-planetary dust clouds," which scientists say are the materials from which planets are made. Scientists have observed that young stars have huge reservoirs of planet-building materials while more mature stars have less dust around them, as the dust coalesces over time to create planets.

In this process planets are born from a formless chaotic state in total darkness obscured from their sun. As the planet matures and sucks up all the dust, light slowly emerges, at first as diffused light upon the planet corresponding to day one of Genesis, and later as direct sun light as things clear up, corresponding to day four.
