The Daily Brief

1. Jobs Bills Die in US Senate - VOA News

Another plank of Obama's job creation plan has been defeated in the U.S. Senate, blocked by Republicans who objected to a modest tax boost to pay for increased infrastructure spending. Democrats returned the favor by voting down a competing Republican proposal that would have channeled unspent federal funds into public construction projects.

Obama: God backs jobs plan - AFP

Obama Wednesday said even God wanted to put Americans back to work, invoking divine blessing for his joust with Republicans over measures designed to slice into high unemployment. "I believe that the phrase from the Bible is 'the Lord helps those who help themselves,'" he said."I think the point the president is making is that, you know, we have it within our capacity to do the things to help the American people."The White House was later forced to clarify however that the phrase Carney used, though often mistaken for scripture, was not in fact biblical.

- Father, we ask that these members of Congress who are continually fighting for power and recognition, will honestly evaluate their positions on this matter as to what is best for the people they serve. We ask that they would consider the best path to create jobs both in the short term and the long term. We know they are fighting for their own survival at the polls next Fall, and may want to compromise to "appear" as though they are concerned for the people, when, in fact, they are preoccupied with what they deem appropriate with getting re-elected. Lord, You Who sees men's hearts and motives, we ask You to expose the agendas of those who are not "for" the people, and make known the hidden things, so we can accurately, and wisely choose whether or not to re-elect these congressmen. We thank You for Your truth! Amen.

- " The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits (the thoughts and intents of the heart). Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed." (Proverbs 16:1-3 Amp)

2. ACORN officials Scramble -- Exposed as Players Behind "Occupy Wall Street" Protests - Fox News

Officials with the revamped ACORN office in New York -- operating as New York Communities for Change -- have fired staff, shredded reams of documents and told workers to blame disgruntled ex-employees for leaking information in an effort to explain away a FoxNews.com report last week on the group's involvement in Occupy Wall Street protests, according to sources.

Obama advisor urges 'militancy' in nationwide "Occupy" Protests - WND

Three days before an Occupy Oakland protest turned violent, United Steelworkers international president Leo Gerard, an adviser to Obama, called for "more militancy" in Occupy movements across the U.S. Gerard serves on the board of a number of groups funded by billionaire George Soros, including organizations that reportedly helped to craft Obama's "stimulus" and health-care laws. In an interview with progressive radio host Ed Schultz on Monday, Gerard stated, "I think what we need is, we need more militancy."

Mayor lashes out at Occupy Wall Street protesters - Reuters

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg lashed out at anti-greed Occupy Wall Street activists on Thursday after reports of self-policing, his patience seeming to wear thin with the seven-week old movement.

Lord, we thank You for exposing the evil motives and lawlessness behind this movement. We ask You to continue to make the public more aware of their evil intentions, questionable sources of funding, and their true agendas. We come against that spirit of lawlessness, as well as a spirit of intimidation, rebellion, civil disobedience, and a spirit of anarchy! We rebuke spirits of manipulation and lying tongues. We thank You that You do stop the mouths of liars, and we ask You to continue to do that. May they find no place to hide, as You shine Your light in these dark places. Lord, we thank You that we are a Christian nation, and that these 50 states and District of Christ, belong to You! We ask that this movement be disbanded, defunded, and come to nothing. We realize that there are those who would like to create, and employ a spirit of unrest and violence, thereby giving our president an opportunity to suspend the Constitution, and setting up "martial law". We forbid it, Lord, in Your Precious Name! Amen!

- "Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity. (Psalm 64:1,2) "Things are hidden temporarily only as a means to revelation.] For there is nothing hidden except to be revealed, nor is anything [temporarily] kept secret except in order that it may be made known." (Mark 4:22)

3. 'New setback' for Palestinian hopes on UN membership - BBC

A UN diplomat says the UK, France and Colombia have told Security Council members they would abstain in any vote on Palestinian membership. None of these countries have officially confirmed this yet. But their decision is a setback for the Palestinians, who have been trying to win support from European states.

- Father, we thank You that these countries have decided not to vote for the Palestinians to become a full member of the UN. However, it seems they are too intimidated to actually vote against the proposal, as they are intending to simply abstain from voting. Father, we do come against a spirit of intimidation, fear, and manipulation, as each country considers its position in this very important decision. We know, Lord, that You are watching with great interest, as each country chooses its destiny, for You and Your Nation (Israel) or against You. We ask, Lord, that You make this choice known to them before their votes are cast. We ask again, that our nation would, indeed, veto any bid for Palestinian membership...and, by doing so, secure Your blessing upon our nation. Amen.

- "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." " I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for [their treatment of] My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and [because] they have divided My land." (Genesis 12:2; Joel 3:2)

4. U.S. report blasts China, Russia for cybercrime - Washington Times

Cyberattacks by Chinese and Russian intelligence services, as well corporate hackers in those countries, have swallowed up large amounts of high-tech American research and development data, and that stolen information has helped build their economies, U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded. Cyberattacks by Chinese and Russian intelligence services, as well corporate hackers in those countries, have swallowed up large amounts of high-tech American research and development data, and that stolen information has helped build their economies, U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded.

- Pray that our government will know how to respond to these cyber threats so that these crimes will be stopped. Pray for strategies to come forth that will "paralyze" our enemies in this critical matter, thereby stopping them in their tracks.

- Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. (Matthew 18:19)

5. Greece PM Papandreou faces knife-edge confidence vote - BBC

Greece's PM George Papandreou is set to face a crucial no-confidence vote, with the outcome on a knife-edge. Mr Papandreou shocked EU partners and sent markets into turmoil after calling for a referendum on a hard-fought EU deal to bail out debt-ridden Greece.

- Please continue to track the news coming out of the nation of Greece in this hour. This situation is a bit complicated for the average citizen, but the weight of the world's economy seems now to be resting on the shoulders of this tiny country. Pray in the Spirit and pray for God's perfect will to be done in and through the nation of Greece.

- " In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God." (Romans 8:26,27)

Bible rewritten: the book of Barack

There is a lot going on lately about God. The House of Representatives has passed a resolution 396-9 reaffirming "In God We Trust" as America's national motto. Virginia Republican Congressman Randy Forbes says he was compelled to introduce the measure because there were so many falsehoods in the public square about God and country. He said that people misunderstand the phrase "separation of church and state," there are many errors regarding the founding of the nation in the new Capitol Visitor Center, and there have been many times when courts and others have tried to prevent citizens from exercising their freedom of religion. One of the biggest misunderstandings came from the White House.

Forbes said that the man who occupies the Oval Office misrepresented the national motto in his November 2010 speech aimed at appeasing the Muslim world. Forbes said the president "falsely proclaimed that our national motto was E pluribus unum. Obama failed to respond to congressional entreaties to issue a correction; the uncorrected transcript remains on the White House website." The president, who appears to be standing firm that the national motto should not have God in it, also set the record straight about the Bible during the week. He said, "I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work." So now he is prophet as well as president.

Americans would do well to check his credentials for both. White House press secretary Jay Carney explained the president's remarks, saying, "I believe that phrase in the Bible is 'the Lord helps those who help themselves.'" While a column by Jim Denison states that 75% of Americans believe the statement is in the Bible as do 68% of born-again Christians, the phrase is not in the Bible, unless of course the president is rewriting it as well as the national motto. The phrase actually originated in 1698 in British politician Algemon Sydney's "Discourses Concerning Government" and went national when Benjamin Franklin published it in "Poor Richard's Almanac" in 1757.

While the book of Barack may suggest that government is God's arm in America, the truth of the matter is that the government is far from God. And evidenced by the poll numbers cited by Denison, so are born again Christians. Christians have been bombarded by so many teachers and preachers who paraphrase or downright misquote the Bible that the sheep do not even know what is in it. That's how false prophets begin to rewrite things anew and people begin to accept them. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Jesus also said that we would know them by their fruits. At the G-20 meeting in France, the president shook hands with all the European leaders, but hugged the Islamic leader of Turkey. I'm just saying...

Bible Quotes Allowed in Egyptian Newspaper Ads for First Time in History

Egypt)-Inspire Magazine U.K. reports that for the first time, front-page advertisements by the Egyptian Bible Society in eight Egyptian national newspapers are being allowed to quote the Bible.
Apparently the change is in response to the recent persecution and deaths of Coptic Christians in an October 9th incident.

Said Bible Society of Egypt General Secretary Ramez Atallah, "This is the first time we have been allowed to quote a Bible verse in any of our public advertising. Many people from all religious backgrounds have called the Bible Society to thank us for the timely message and positive role."
