Breakthrough Legislation for Israel!!
CONGRESSMAN WALSH PREPARING RESOLUTION BACKING ISRAELI ANNEXATION
Firebrand lawmaker Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) plans to introduce a bill in US House of Representatives expressing congressional support for Israel's right to annex Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. The move comes as Palestinian Authority officials move forward over US objections with a controversial request for a declaration of statehood at the United Nations.
Walsh's resolution, modeled closely on a bill introduced in the Israeli Knesset, is the latest effort by Congress ahead of the proposed UN vote, Tuesday, September 20th. Lawmakers from both parties returned from Israel last month warning that Congress could seek to cut aid to the PA if they actually go ahead with the vote.
"We've got what I consider to be a potential slap in the face coming up with the vote in the UN, which is absolutely outrageous," Walsh told reporters.
"It's clear that the United States needs to make a very strong statement. I would argue that the president should make this statement, but he's not capable of making it. So, the House needs to make this statement, if the [Palestinian Authority] continues down this road of trying to get recognition of statehood, the U.S. will not stand for it. And we will respect Israel's right to annex Judea and Samaria."
Late last week, US officials said they would exercise their veto of any attempt to grant statehood to the PA at the UN Security Council. But that hasn't stopped lawmakers in both countries from threatening the consequences of a declaration.
Walsh is moving forward with his resolution after meeting last month in Israel with Danny Danon, a deputy speaker of the Knesset and Likud Party member known for criticizing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from the right. Earlier this year, Danon introduced a bill that would annex all of "Area C," a large portion of the West Bank that includes Jewish settlements and rural lands but would spare the largest Palestinian cities.
Danon is now leading a campaign to pressure Netanyahu to move forward with the unilateral annexation. Walsh, who said he'd been considering a similar measure before arriving in Israel in August, confirmed that he and Danon "bounced some ideas off each other" on the resolution.
Danon argued in a New York Times op-ed earlier this year that a request from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for a UN statehood declaration would amount to a nullification of the Oslo Accords, which dictate that "neither side shall initiate or take any step that will change the status of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip pending the outcome of the permanent status negotiations." That means Israel would be free to unilaterally annex Judea and Samaria, he wrote. The op-ed downplayed the potential international consequences by pointing to past Israeli annexations as evidence the country could withstand international condemnation.

Pray that this legislation will gain momentum quickly and will even pass both the House and the Senate before the vote takes place at the U.N. next week -- determining statehood for the Palestinians and hence, dividing the God-appointed boundaries of Israel. 1. OBAMA AND MICHELLE ATTEND 9/11 MEMORIAL SERVICES
Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are marking the tenth anniversary of the worst attacks on our country in U.S. history by joining ceremonies at each of the three sites where the planes crashed on September 11, 2001. Their first stop was New York City, where they joined the annual service that includes reading the names of all of the almost 3,000 victims. Obama and Michelle joined, former real American and qualified to have been elected, President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush at the new September 11 Memorial, which features two reflecting pools built over the towers' footprints where the names of the victims are etched in bronze.
Following a moment of silence at 8:46 AM, the exact moment the first plane hit the World Trade Center ten years ago, the President read all of Psalm 46 from the Bible, which begins: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
From New York, the Obamas traveled to Shanksville, Pa., and the Pentagon, the two other crash sites, before attending the Concert for Hope at the Kennedy Center in Washington Sunday evening. (Source: The White House Blog) [Reported by: Breaking Christian News]

2. OBAMA SENDS JOBS BILL TO CONGRESS
Jobs Plan Strains Deficit Committee
Republicans slammed the White House Monday after Obama's budget director proposed paying for a $447 billion jobs bill with a string of tax increases that Republicans have long opposed.
White House Budget Director Jack Lew gave an overview Monday of how Obama plans to keep his jobs bill deficit-neutral, as the administration sent the bill over to Congress. The proposals range from a limit on itemized deductions for high-income earners to provisions that would raise taxes on oil and gas companies as well as corporate jet owners.
House Speaker John Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck, noting Obama has pushed these proposals before, suggested Obama was getting off on the wrong foot. "It would be fair to say this tax increase on job creators is the kind of proposal both parties have opposed in the past. We remain eager to work together on ways to support job growth, but this proposal doesn't appear to have been offered in that bipartisan spirit," he said in a statement.
The scenario, though, puts the committee in a tight spot -- should the bill have a chance at passing. The panel already is charged with finding about $1.5 trillion in deficit savings by Thanksgiving. Should the committee members want to find different offsets for the Obama jobs bill, they'd have to find nearly $2 trillion in savings. But if the committee members don't change the Obama bill, they still would be unable to use any of the offsets included in the Obama plan for their own deficit-reduction plan. (Fox News) Read more.

3. SENATOR MCCONNELL ADDRESSES OBAMA'S "FAILED APPROACH TO JOB CREATION"
The leader of the Republicans in the United States Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky, took to the Senate floor the first day back from summer recess and blasted the Obama administration's "failed approach to job creation." Indeed, for the first time in decades, a president of the United States had zero job creation during the month of August.
During his almost embarassing appearance before a joint session of Congress on Thursday -- a forum in the past used by Franklin D. Roosevelt to declare war on Japan and by George W. Bush to declare war on Islamic terrorism -- Obama tried to intimidate the Republicans into voting for another gargantuan stimulus and tax increases if he can get away with it, even though his first trillion dollar stimulus was a complete and utter failure.
Senate Leader McConnell said during his speech on the Senate floor today: "We need the President to be as bold about liberating job creators as he's been about shackling them. I mean, you don't lift a single regulation and suddenly claim to be Margaret Thatcher." Read the rest of Senator McConnell's speech here. (Christian Coalition of America)

4. FEMA IS NOT HELPING TEXAS FIRES AS OF 9:00 A.M. TODAY
Although Obama signed a declaration on Friday, making Texas a national disaster area, boots are not on the ground. As of today, our volunteers are reporting that they have not seen the federal government on site yet. FEMA isn't here or helping, but Moms Against Hunger is.
More than a 1,500 Texas residents have already lost their homes, as firefighters continue to battle the Texas wildfires, and they all desperately need your help. FEMA is not on the ground, and the federal government has not committed any money to charities or aid organizations to help families that have been left homeless. Likewise, members of the National Guard have not been ordered by their commanding officers into the field to help. But on Sunday, 20 members decided to take five Humvees and head out on their own to go and help Moms Against Hunger. These members of the National Guard told a volunteer that they were tired of the federal government not allowing them to help.
These men did help. They brought food and clothing, and gave what they had to a family that lost all of their worldly possessions, but still have their lives, and were receiving basic necessities from Moms Against Hunger. We are in desperate need of your support to continue our efforts to provide food, water, personal hygiene products, and additional tools the firefighters need so they can continue to battle the blazes. Our resources are running low, and it takes money to provide for the basic needs of Americans who are now homeless. [Note: You can donate to Moms Against Hunger, a Christian ministry, by going here.]
- It is time for FEMA to show up and help the good people of Texas to fight these horrific fires. Lift up a chorus of prayer before the Throne of Grace, and petition our Lord to move upon the hearts of the federal authorities to get this job done. Offer praise for groups like Moms Against Hunger, who are doing the job that others won't do. Praise God for the Body of Christ . . . we are there when you need us to be!

5. REP. HUNTER'S BILL CONFRONTS "DON'T ASK; DON'T TELL" REPEAL
New policy to take effect on September 20th
Just because Obama says homosexuals can openly serve doesn't mean others can't openly object--not if Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) can help it. Over the next two weeks, the fellow Marine veteran will be sprinting to beat the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal with a bill that would protect the troops' right to free speech.
As far as Hunter is concerned, if he can't protect national security by stopping the repeal from taking effect, he can at least protect the right of conscience of the servicemen and women who are afraid their opposition to homosexuality will be used against them. Although the new policy doesn't take effect until September 20, Hunter and other conservatives are already fielding complaints from the branches about the Pentagon's progressive training materials. The California Congressmen says he's talked to dozens of active duty personnel, who say the Defense Department is "pushing the line" in its implementation of the new rules. "It is a legitimate concern," Hunter's office explained, especially as the Pentagon works on "disciplinary policies for people who don't agree with this decision."
Under Hunter's bill, the troops have to abide by the repeal--but they don't have to like it. "The military always falls in line," a spokesman for the Congressman's office said, "but that doesn't mean that the men and women who serve in its ranks should suddenly be forced to personally accept [homosexuality]." Essentially, the legislation would ensure that "members of the Armed Forces are not pressured to approve of another person's sexual conduct if that sexual conduct is contrary to the personal principles of that member." These "conscience protections" would give our troops just as much right to voice their opinions as others have to flaunt their sexuality. With just 10 days to go before the military opens its arms to gays and lesbians, the time to push Hunter's bill is now. (Family Research Council)
- As of this writing, there is not yet a number assigned to this bill. Pray that things will come together quickly for Congressman Hunter's bill to take hold and to "take off" with many cosponsors signing on. As soon as we get more information for you, we will let you know . . . please watch the Daily Briefs this week for breaking developments. When this bill has a number, you can then call your own member and ask him or her to support our troops by supporting their right to conscience protection. Thank you.

6. FOURTH CIRCUIT DOESN'T RULE ON OBAMACARE'S CONSTITUTIONALITY
The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals said today that Virginia has no standing to challenge Obamacare's individual mandate. And in a second ruling issued at the same time, the Richmond, Virginia court also said that Liberty University can't challenge the law before the mandate goes into effect in 2014.
The latest rulings focused only on judicial procedure and not on the merits of the law, leaving a split decision between the Sixth and Eleventh circuits on the actual constitutionality of the individual mandate. The Sixth Circuit in Michigan said the individual mandate can stand because it is important to the overall working of the law. The Eleventh Circuit (in which 26 states are challenging the law) disagreed and said the individual mandate is not only unconstitutional but "is breathtaking in its expansive scope."
In today's ruling, the Fourth Circuit appeals court did not address the question of the constitutionality of the individual mandate: "Because we hold that Virginia lacks standing, we cannot reach the question of whether the Constitution authorizes Congress to enact the individual mandate," the judges wrote. There was no dissenting opinion. This is, therefore, not a victory for the administration. But neither does it help those opposed to the law. (National Review Online) Read more.
- As the different appellate courts continue to rule on the constitutionality of various aspects of Obamacare, speak "order in the court" and order in the camp . . . of the righteous. The LORD has an alignment in the courts of heaven for the judiciary as it judges this law, and His will must be made known on earth, as it is in heaven. Bind confusion; loose order; and continue to travail for the demise of every aspect of this wicked law. Amen.

7. 9/11 TERROR THREAT AGAINST THE U.S. -- MORE PRAYER NEEDED
U.S. intelligence officials believe that information indicating three terrorists may be plotting attacks on American soil on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks "has serious teeth." Reports say there is "credible evidence" of the plot's existence. A senior intelligence official told Investigative Project on Terrorism Executive Director Steven Emerson that two of the suspected terrorists live in the United States and that a third member of the plot operates out of Waziristan, in Pakistan's tribal area. One official stressed that the evidence for the suspected plot was "not confirmed but we are taking it very seriously given the specificity of the details we have collected."
Those details included information that a suicide truck bomb would be detonated on a major transportation venue in New York, Washington, Los Angeles or Chicago "in order to inflict as many casualties as possible." It was also learned that five days after Osama bin Laden was killed, a group connected to al-Qaeda calling themselves "Soldiers of Allah" declared they would avenge the death of bin Laden and specifically cited the 10th anniversary of 9/11. U.S. officials say that there was no one specific "smoking gun" but that they "triaged" the intelligence from various sources including the materials scooped up from bin Laden's compound by the Navy SEALs.
Since then, other information has been collected that pointed to a possible plot, but specific details emerged only in the last 48 hours. The official would not describe the nature of those details that resulted in the consensus by the intelligence and counter-terrorism communities that a specific plot was going to be launched on the 9-11 anniversary. Members of the House and Senate Intelligence committees and the congressional leadership were briefed early Thursday morning. (The Investigative Project on Terrorism)

8. HOMEGROWN TERROR THREATS PUT U.S. ON ALERT
A spike in domestic terrorism and attacks by American citizens directed from overseas are top concerns for police departments across the country, according to a new survey by the Homeland Security Policy Institute at George Washington University.
"Homegrown and foreign-directed jihadi terrorism and radicalization are perceived as a real threat by local law enforcement in the United States," the report, "Counterterrorism Intelligence: Law Enforcement Perspectives," says. The survey covered the police intelligence chiefs for the 56 largest cities in the U.S. in advance of the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. (Fox News) Read more.

9. PETER KING FINDS NEW 9-11 LINK
Congressman Peter King (R-NY), in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, said investigators believe it is no coincidence that Anwar al-Awlaki had contact with three of the five hijackers who flew a plane into the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001. The House Homeland Security Committee is investigating to determine "to what extent Anwar al-Awlaki wittingly or unwittingly facilitated the plot of the 9/11 hijackers." After the attacks, Al-Awlaki was invited to speak at a Pentagon lunch and was also invited by Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison to speak on Capitol Hill. Al-Awlaki also encouraged the attack by Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood.
Declassified documents, exclusive interviews and phone and banking records present an overwhelming case that the 9/11 hijackers relied heavily on a domestic support network to facilitate the plot. Former Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., who led the first congressional investigation into the 9/11 attacks in 2002, was asked by the Fox News Specials Unit if he believes the hijackers' support network remains in place today because it was never fully identified or disrupted after the attacks. 1. MAKING THE 9/11 CROSS A NATIONAL MONUMENT
Representative Michael G. Grimm (R,C-NY) will introduce legislation this week entitled the 9/11 Memorial Cross National Monument Establishment Act of 2011, which will establish the 9/11 Memorial Cross located at the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City as a national monument. This cross has long been seen as a symbol of hope and freedom in the aftermath of 9/11; however, it has recently become a subject of attack by the "American Atheists" group who filed a lawsuit against the inclusion of the cross in the museum. Rep. Grimm's legislation preserves the 9/11 cross as a national symbol, securing its place in the museum.
"This cross was a symbol of hope and freedom at a time when New Yorkers were coping with loss and destruction in the aftermath of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil," said Grimm. "I find it reprehensible that this group would disgrace the beliefs of millions of people in an effort to garner a little media attention for their cause. By establishing the 9/11 Memorial Cross as a national monument, we ensure this symbol of freedom continues to stand for all those we lost and those whose faith remains to this day."
On July 23, 2011 the cross was transported from the WTC site and lowered into its permanent setting inside the museum, which will open to the public in 2012. Shortly after on July 27, 2011 an atheist group identified as "American Atheists" filed a lawsuit claiming the inclusion of the cross-shaped steel beams promotes Christianity over all other religions on public property and diminishes the civil rights of non-Christians.
While the cross may have been the first religious symbol moved into the exhibition due to its size, it is not the only religious symbol that will be on display. Along with the cross, the exhibit will include a Star of David cut from WTC steel and a Bible fused to a piece of steel that was found during recovery efforts. The cross, however, was the only symbol singled out by the American Atheists. Rep. 2. THE BIENNIAL BUDGETING ACT OF 2011
U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson (R-IL) recently announced his intention to file groundbreaking new legislation to create a more efficient and reliable Congressional budgeting process. The bill will establish a two-year federal budget cycle, introducing a more reliable and efficient system that helps depoliticize planning for the expenditure of taxpayer dollars.
"This concept enjoys bipartisan support already," Rep. Johnson said. "I don't think there is anyone in Congress who would assert that our budget and appropriation process doesn't need changing. "The idea is really pretty simple. Instead of planning with our backs to the wall every year, passing continuing resolutions and kicking the ball down the road, we can make time to scrutinize, prioritize and hold our agencies and departments accountable for the money they've been appropriated on behalf of the American people."
Rep. Johnson's bill would establish a two-year budgeting and appropriations cycle beginning Oct. 1 of each odd-numbered year. Any budget or appropriations bill passed by one chamber has to be voted on in the other chamber within a specified time period. No holds, filibusters or motions to recommit would be allowed. "Since 1954, Congress has had to enact last-ditch continuing resolutions to keep the government from shutting its doors in all but three years - 1989, 1995 and 1997," Rep. Johnson said. "That says something about the efficiency of the process.
"We take trillions of dollars out of the pockets of our citizens and spend it irresponsibly," Rep. Johnson said. "I have voted against budget resolutions, continuing resolutions and accompanying debt ceiling increases since at least 2005 for several reasons, not the least of which is that this decision-making process simply lacks controls necessary to assure that the people's money is being spent with a modicum of responsibility and accountability. 8. THE FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE ACT (FMLA)
Curbing Intermittent Abuse
While the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is an entitlement law, it is not just one-sided, and if management does not exercise its rights under the Act, it can, and will lose control.
The FMLA does allow employees to take leave in small increments to attend medical appointments, and other medically necessary therapy sessions, e.g., cancer treatments, physical therapy for an injury, etc. It is almost a universal truth that managers find intermittent FMLA leave to be the most troublesome. It is disruptive to planning and completing assignments and it can give the appearance that someone is being allowed to have special privileges, all of which can damage an organization's productivity and harmony. 1. U.N.'S PALMER REPORT: TURKEY, ISRAEL, AND THE FLOTILLA
In the recently published Palmer Report to the United Nations, Israel has been held as being justified in maintaining her blockade of Gaza, but accused of using excessive force in her response to being attacked by terrorists when her troops boarded the flotilla ship Mavi Marmara in May 2010. Israel is instructed in the report to pay reparations to Turkey to compensate the families of those killed in this incident. In recent days we have seen a downgrading of Turkey's diplomatic relations with Israel and a rapid escalation in rhetoric with Turkey for example threatening to send gunships to accompany the next flotilla.
- We need to ask: who or what is pushing Turkey to this state of affairs? Is this heading towards a wider conflict? How should Israel respond? We prayed:
a. Lord, hedge in (Turkish Prime Minister) Erdogan from continuing to speak out against You, Your land and Your people.
b. Rise up and defend the integrity of Your name which is brought into disrepute by the scornful words of the Turkish leader.
c. Put Your hand, Lord on what is out of our control.
d. Give wisdom and put Your words into the mouths of our leaders.
e. Protect the Jewish community in Turkey.
f. May nothing happen between Israel and Turkey which is not in Your timing.

2. U.N. RECOGNITION OF PALESTINIAN STATE
Mahmoud Abbas recently sent a letter to the United Nations formally requesting recognition of a State of Palestine. The UN is basically in favour while the USA is saying that it will veto the proposal in the Security Council. The Security Council of the UN is the body given the full authority to confer statehood. However, a vote in the UN's General Assembly in favour of a Palestinian state, while not conferring statehood in a formal legal way, would be a huge symbolic statement of the will of the international community. We pray:
a) Thank you, Lord that You sit in the heavens and laugh.
b) Lord, override any plan or vote or action of the nations so that it conform with Your plans.
c) Bring about a sorting of the nations so that it becomes clear who is for You and who is against You and Your plans. Let there be a clear division.
d) Have mercy on America to come down on Your side.
e) Cause confusion among those who are planning and plotting against Israel.
f) We pray that You would indeed condemn the tongues that rise against You.
g) Cause people to lobby in their nations in support of Israel.
h) Thank you, God, that none of this takes You by surprise. You have a great plan. As the United Nations seems to have become a body whose purpose is to curse Israel, we ask you to give great wisdom to Israel's UN ambassador Ron Prosor and anoint his words.

3. U.N. GIVES PALESTINIAN PRESIDENT ROYAL TREATMENT
Bumps Netanyahu back to speak during Jewish Sabbath
NEW YORK - An internal United Nations document containing the upcoming General Assembly's speakers list bestows an unwarranted honor upon Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, while also slighting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. With no vote taken or yet expected on the issue of Palestinian statehood, the U.N. has already scheduled Abbas as an official "head of state," an honor given to kings and presidents. The Palestinian is also given a primetime speaking slot, 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.
In the past, Palestinian leaders were afforded a "special" position by the U.N., speaking after all heads of recognized nations addressed the world body. Not the case in 2011. Not only has the General Assembly given Abbas a coveted speaking position, but it also turned around and slapped Israel, which has been a full U.N. member since its birth in 1948.
A rare G.A. address by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been scheduled on the same Friday as Abbas, but as the last speaker at 9:00 p.m. that evening, a time slot that would not only violate Jewish Sabbath laws, but also assure a minimum amount of publicity, since the U.N. is all but abandoned during that hour. **4. U.S. WILL VETO PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD BID AT U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL
After months of vague expressions of opposition, the United States officially confirmed on Thursday that they will veto a Palestinian statehood bid at the United Nations Security Council should such a bid be made. Speaking with reporters, State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said that "if something comes to a vote in the UN Security Council, the US will veto." Nuland expressed surprise that Sherman's expression of the veto stance drew such a "press furor."
"It should not come as a shock to anyone in this room that the US opposes a move in New York by the Palestinians to try to establish a state that can only be achieved through negotiations," said Nuland. US officials had previously expressed opposition to the move in varied ways, but had yet to explicitly threaten the veto in public.
However, despite the commitment, the Palestinians could still force the Americans to use the veto, or avoid the Security Council altogether and seek a more symbolic and limited resolution from the UN General Assembly. While the Council is able to pass a legally-binding resolution that would enable full Palestinian statehood membership at the UN, the General Assembly can only upgrade their status to a nonvoting observer.
Despite the lack of legal power resulting from such a move, the upgraded status could help the Palestinians in a diplomatic and legal offensive against Israel. If the Palestinians go to the UN General Assembly, the US would not be able to veto a resolution there and the Palestinians enjoy broad support from the many Arab states and nations outside the West. According to Sherman, the US does not expect the Palestinians to go to the Security Council. However, they are still concerned about their turning to the General Assembly.

5. TOP IDF GENERAL EXPECTS "ISLAMIC WINTER"
"It looks like the Arab Spring, but it can also be a radical Islamic winter," IDF Home Front Command chief Major General Eyal Eisenberg said during a speech at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv on Monday. "This leads us to the conclusion that through a long-term process, the likelihood of an all-out war is increasingly growing," Eisenberg said.
"Iran has not abandoned its nuclear program. The opposite it true; it continues full steam ahead," he said. "In Egypt, the army is collapsing under the burden of regular security operations, and this is reflected in the loss of control in the Sinai and the turning of the border with Israel into a terror border, with the possibility that Sinai will fall under the control of an Islamic entity." "In Lebanon, Hezbollah is growing stronger within government arms, but it has not lost its desire to harm Israel, and the ties with Turkey aren't at their best," He added.
Referring to what he characterized as the possibility of a "radical Islamic winter," Eisenberg warned "This raises the likelihood of an all-out, total war, with the possibility of weapons of mass destruction being used." During his address, Eisenberg admitted new, more lethal arms surfaced in the hands of Gaza terror groups during the latest round of fighting in the area. As result of the disturbing development, Israeli civilians were instructed to adopt greater precautions, he said. "We discovered a new weapon, and as result of this we instructed the public to hide under two roofs, rather than only one," he said. (Arutz7 News)

6. CAIRO MOB RANSACKS, TORCHES ISRAELI EMBASSY, AMBASSADOR FLEES
Israeli Embassy Break-In Led by Jam' a al-Islamiya of 1993 WTC Bombing
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told reporters Saturday night in Jerusalem that Israel will stand by the peace treaty with Egypt, and thanked the United States for its assistance in persuading Cairo to take action in protecting people at the Israeli embassy following an attack.
Israel's Cairo embassy stood empty Saturday, September 10, after thousands of demonstrators smashed through the wall enclosing the building, broke in and dumped the flag and hundreds of documents through the windows - some classified. debkafile reports that Egyptian security forces using tear gas and shooting in air failed to contain the howling mob led by Muslim Brotherhood adherents. Two Israeli military planes flew the ambassador and 80 staff home. US officials expressed concern.
In first new disclosures on the siege of Israel's Cairo embassy that began Friday night, debkafile reveals the mob was led by Jama'a al-Islamiya, the Egyptian founding branch of Al Qaeda, and two other radical Islamic groups. The February 1993 car bombing of the World Trade Center of New York was an early Jamaa operation under the al Qaeda label. Friday night, when the mob sacked the embassy, the Egyptian police stood by - until the rioters rifled the gunroom of a nearby police HQ.

7. U.S. INTERVENES DURING MOB ATTACK ON ISRAELI EMBASSY IN CAIRO
On Friday evening, September 9, after afternoon prayers, a large and frustrated crowd of Muslim Egyptians gathered in Tahrir Square in Cairo. Seeking an outlet to their anger, a mob reported of several thousand moved to attack the Israeli embassy. They broke down the protecting wall and entered the building. All Israeli diplomats and their families were evacuated, except for 6 security personnel, who remained in the building. Throughout the night, September 10, Prime Minister Netanyahu tried to reach Egyptian government and security officials to stop the mob, but there was no response. Netanyahu then called directly to U.S. President Obama to ask for help. Obama called to Egypt and demanded intervention. The Egyptian army showed up in armed vehicles, firing tear gas and even live ammunition. Many were injured and reportedly three demonstrators were killed.
The 6 security personnel were locked inside the building. Netanyahu talked on the phone with "Yonatan," the head of the security team. With only one door remaining between them and the mob, the Egyptian commando force arrived and rescued them, thus diverting an international disaster at the last moment.
On the morning of September 10, Netanyahu issued a statement thanking President Obama and the Egyptian military, yet he also stressed the gravity of the situation. Obviously there can be no diplomatic relations if one nation cannot protect the embassy and personnel of the other nation. The upheavals in Egypt have placed the 30 year peace treaty with Israel in jeopardy. (Revive Israel Ministries)

8. GATES SAYS NETANYAHU AN "UNGRATEFUL ALLY"
Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates calls Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu an "ungrateful ally," journalist Jeffrey Goldberg wrote Tuesday on his blog, published by Bloomberg News. Goldberg, whose columns have been extraordinarily negative towards Israeli nationalists and in favor of most Palestinian Authority demands and the "peace process," quoted Gates as saying that Prime Minister Netanyahu's refusal to accept American demands in the "peace process" is evidence that Israel is ungrateful. Gates, like most American government officials, often has pledged to bolster Israel's security but also has stated what he thinks should be Israel's domestic policies. Goldberg wrote that Gates recently told the National Security Council Principals Committee -- in Goldberg's words, attributed to government sources -- "Netanyahu is not only ungrateful, but also endangering his country by refusing to grapple with Israel's growing isolation and with the demographic challenges it faces if it keeps control of the West Bank." **9. EGYPTIAN GOVERNMENT TO CLOSE GAZA SMUGGLING TUNNELS
The Egyptian government announced on Saturday [September 3] that it has begun operations to close smuggling tunnels between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. The move is seen as a clear indication that the successor government to Hosni Mubarak is interested in keeping a lid on tensions with Israel.
A terrorist attack last month that originated on Egyptian soil and left eight Israelis dead brought matters to a head. Israeli troops in hot pursuit of the terrorists mistakenly killed three Egyptian policemen. Security officials believe that from the time Mubarak's downfall became apparent until the attack, a vacuum existed during which time smuggling of arms and movement of terrorists went unimpeded. **10. SHIN BET UNCOVERS HAMAS TERROR CELLS
A joint Shin Bet [Israel internal security], IDF [Israel Defense Forces], and police operation, which took place over the past few months, has led to the discovery of several Hamas terror cells, which were plotting attacks in Israel. According to information obtained by Ynet on Wednesday [September 7], only one of the cells was able to carry out its nefarious plan, planting a bomb at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem in March. One British tourist was killed and 47 people were injured in the attack.
A senior Shin Bet official told Ynet that the widespread terror organization was indicative of a concentrated effort by Hamas to rebuild its military infrastructure in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] as means of carrying out attacks against Israeli targets. The infrastructure uncovered, he added, revealed the cooperation within Hamas' own factions, including the participation of overseas Hamas bases and growing attempts to smuggle weapons from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank. As part of the operation, dozens of Hamas operatives, comprising at least 13 terror cells, were arrested across the West Bank over the past few weeks.
(One of) the cell's infrastructure was provided by Hamas police in Syria, which transferred funds to the West Bank cell via courier. The cell's Syrian masters also relayed instruction for future terror attacks, including the foiled abduction attack.
In June, Shin Bet and IDF officers were able to expose a Hamas terror cell preparing to abduct IDF soldiers. The West Bank-based cell received its instruction from Gaza and was scheduled to receive smuggled arms to be used in the abduction. One of the operatives arrested in connection to the foiled abduction, 42-year-old Shaher Skaphi from Hebron, detailed in his interrogation exactly how his cell was instructed to kidnap and guard an Israeli solider, and when the time came, how to negotiate for his release in exchange for Hamas prisoners held in Israel. 11. TURKEY EXPELS ISRAELI AMBASSADOR; SUSPENDS MILITARY TIES
Oil and Gas at Stake
Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan this week coolly moved his country towards an armed clash with Israel - not just over the Palestinian statehood issue, but because he covets the gas and oil resources of the eastern Mediterranean Sea, opposite Israel's shore. Last Thursday night, he announced that Turkish warships will escort any Turkish aid vessels for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. In his remarks to Al Jazeera television, the Turkish prime minister also said he had taken steps "to stop Israel from unilaterally exploiting natural resources from the eastern Mediterranean."
PM Erdogan has sought to isolate Israel by drawing a double diplomatic noose around it. If Turkish ships breach the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza, which a UN report last week pronounced legitimate under international law, Erdogan will become the first Muslim leader to embark on military action in the Palestinian cause. Other Arab nations, including Iran, who have fought Israel in the past will be made to look weak, while Turkey will appear to be the regional "big shot." Erdogan clings to the belief that the foremost Arab powers, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which have been watching his maneuvers with deep suspicion, will have no choice but to play ball with him now that he has confronted Israel. He also is counting on US backing in a military clash with Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak are less confident of US support.
Recognition of Turkey's potential leadership of Arab nations came late last week in the form of Egyptian consent to join the Turkish Navy in sea maneuvers in the eastern Mediterranean. The war ships' Mediterranean maneuvers are designed to: 1) Split the Israel's small Navy into two heads - one for sustaining the blockade against Gaza and one for safeguarding the gas and oil rigs opposite its shores, and, 2) Scare Israel into a full or partial stoppage of its offshore oil and gas operations, thereby robbing it of energy power status and substantial economic gains.
And as a dramatic demonstration of worsening tension and anger toward Israel in the Middle East, Turkish officials have expelled the Israeli Ambassador from their country and suspended all military agreements with Israel. Turkey was once one of Israel's closest allies in the Middle East, but the new government has been playing to radical Muslim sympathies in the country and taken a harder line against the Jewish state. 12. SYRIAN UNITS PULL BACK FROM ISRAELI BORDER FOR BIG OFFENSIVE
Syria's president Bashar Assad, has ordered his military chiefs to launch their biggest operation to destroy the protest movement bedeviling his regime for nearly six-months, DEBKAfile's military sources reported over the weekend. All military leaves were cancelled, while all units were deployed on full-alert to the protest centers for coordinated strikes in the coming days. Syrian tanks also were ordered to hunt for and attack the insurgent's southern Turkish regional command center at Jabal Al-Zawya. 13. 100 PROTESTORS BURN AMERICAN FLAG OUTSIDE 9/11 SERVICE IN LONDON
Protesters set fire to the U.S. flag outside the American embassy in London yesterday during a minute's silence to mark the moment the first hijacked airliner hit the World Trade Centre. A group of 100 Muslim radicals, including members of Muslims Against Crusades, shouted 'USA terrorists' and brandished anti-American placards. One protester in Grosvenor Square said: 'You will always face suffering, you will always face humiliation, unless you withdraw your troops from Muslim lands.'
A small group of Muslims staged a counter-demonstration nearby, holding up placards reading 'Moslems Against Extremism' and 'If You Want Sharia, Move To Saudi'. Abdul Sallam, 41, who was waving a sign that read 'Keep The Silence', travelled down to London from his home in Glasgow to show the strength of his feelings. He said: 'I'm a Moslem. What they're doing is bringing shame on all Moslems. This is not part of the teachings of Islam.'Islam is all about peace, but what they want to do is hate other people. 'Islam teaches you that when you see anything bad or evil, you should speak out against it. 'If the moderate Moslems all came out and spoke out, that would defeat them. 'I am proud to be British. I love my country. All these people are doing is breaking Britain apart.'
Earlier, a group of English Defence League protesters were ordered to move on to accommodate the anti-American demonstration. The 60-strong group briefly scuffled with police as they were forced away from their original location to a different part of Grosvenor Square. 14. MASSIVE CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE SLATED FOR TUESDAY, SEPT. 20, AT U.N.
According to a press release disseminated by Amcha-Coalition for Jewish Concerns (an umbrella organization of Jewish activists), a massive display of civil disobedience will be held in New York City on Tuesday, September 20 as a vocal protest of the Palestinian bid for statehood at the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting. The protest will also spotlight the ongoing hatred that the world body holds for Israel and its demonizing of the Jewish state.
Calling on "Israel's supporters to stand proud and strong as they say a resounding "No!" to a unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state," the organizers said that the protest will be led by a sizeable contingent of rabbis who will gather along with participants at 10 a.m. at 40th Street and First Avenue on September 20. Other participating organizations will be added as the date approaches.
Longtime Jewish activist and national president of Amcha-CJC, Rabbi Avi Weiss of the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale said, "Those who choose will step into the street as a moral act of conscience to block traffic to the UN. We will show the world that the UN's anti-Israel 'business as usual' cannot continue. When the police order those in the street to step aside, those who choose to remain on First Avenue will be subjected to peaceful arrest. We urge all who are concerned about the security of our brothers and sisters in Israel to join us."
