Special Election Alert

Introduction
SPECIAL ELECTION ALERT: INTRODUCTION
We have now reached the last three days before the election, on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
We are also on the cusp of a day that may well change the history and the destiny of our nation.
In this very serious hour, we ask the Body of Christ to come into alignment with us in Washington, D.C. -- the District of Christ -- to declare and decree the following points of prayer.
First:
A CALL TO A DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING FOR AMERICA
on MONDAY, November 1.
Second:
A CALL TO REPENTANCE for our sins as a nation.
Third:
A CALL TO ACTION at the polls, with on-site prayer on the eve of the election at your polling place.
A CALL TO PRAYER
A CALL TO A DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2010
Throughout our history as a nation, every President since George Washington has called for:
-- a day of PRAYER when there was a national need
-- a day of PRAYER AND FASTING when there was a national crisis, and
-- a day of THANKSGIVING when those prayers were answered
Today, our nation once again stands in the place of CRISIS as we see the very foundations of our republican form of government endangered by the increasingly tight grip of the hand of tyranny.
Like men of old, our only real hope lies not in any political party, nor with any man. OUR ONLY REAL HOPE LIES IN GOD. . . our real reliance must be upon God.
As we seach the historical record, we find countless examples of calls to prayer and fasting for our nation. Let's examine three examples now.
PRESIDENT GEORGE WASHINGTON
On April 12, 1778, at Valley Forge, General Washington ordered:
"The Honorable Congress having thought proper to recommend to the United States of America to set apart Wednesday, the 22nd inst., to be observed as a day of Fasting, Humiliation. and Prayer, that at one time, and with one voice, the righteous dispensations of Providence may be acknowledged, and His goodness and mercy towards our arms supplicated and implored:
The General directs that the day shall be most religiously observed in the Army; that no work shall be done thereon, and that the several chaplains do prepare discourses."
PRESIDENT JAMES MADISON
(In response to the British invasion of the capital during the War of 1812 on November16, 1814)
"In the present time of public calamity and war, a day may be . . . observed by the people of the United States as a Day of Public Humiliation and Fasting and Prayer to Almighty God for the safety and welfare of these States . . . of confessing their sins and transgressions, and of strengthening their vows of repentance . . . that He would be graciously pleased to pardon all their offenses."
PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN
On March 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a National Day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer:
"The awful calamity of Civil War . . . may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people . . . We have forgotten God . . . We have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.
Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become . . . too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins."

A CALL TO REPENTANCE
Today, as we continue to humble ourselves before Him and to seek His face, according to our Election Prayer Vigil, the Lord is requiring our repentance for three specific sins:
1. THE FLATTERING OF MAN
We repent that in the realms of both government and the church, we have fallen victim to the practice and sin of the flattery of men.
It is written: ""Let me now be partial to no one, Nor flatter any man. "For I do not know how to flatter, Else my Maker would soon take me away." (Job 32:21,22)
2. WE HAVE LOST OUR SALT
It is written: "For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another." (Mark 9: 49,50)
3. WE HAVE LOST OUR WAY
It is written: "A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God. 22Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God. We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God." (Jer. 3:21,22,25)
A CALL TO ACTION
As we move into alignment now in prayer, in fasting, and in repentance, there is yet another step required of us.
That step is to TAKE ACTION.
As citizens of the United States of America, we enjoy a privilege that few other peoples on earth do: we have the right to vote.
CAPITOL HILL PRAYER PARTNERS URGES ALL OF OUR READERS, AND ALL OF THEIR FRIENDS, TO TAKE TIME TO GO TO THE POLLS ON TUESDAY AND TO VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE WHO MOST CLOSELY RELFECTS YOUR VALUES.

BUT AS CITIZENS OF THE kINGDOM OF GOD, THERE IS ONE MORE STEP REQUIRED OF US:
PRAY AT THE POLLS!
Polling places are actually gates of governmental authority. In the divine grace and mercy of God, each one of us, when we step into the voting booth, takes on the mantle of authority to choose who next will govern over us. We must choose wisely!
Knowing that the LORD holds the keys to the kingdom, and that at the Cross, the enemy was defeated, we must "go forth" on the night before the election and pray directly in, around, and over the area of our own polling place.
As the Blood of tne Lamb is applied to the premises, the enemy (not the people, but the principalities and powers) will not be able to enter in.
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." (Matt. 16:19)
On Election Eve, as we each seek His face for direction in prayer, our Father will be faithful to answer our cry:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." (John 10:27)
In Conclusion
Thank you all for standing in agreement with our Call to Prayer, to Repentance, and to Action. The prayer of agreement avails MUCH and, in this hour, we must stand united on the Word of God and the love of our Savior to see us through.
Tomorrow night, we will publish the final portoin of Mary Murphy's study on 2 Chronicles 7:14 -- a study of the promises that come when we come before our Lord in repentance.
May our Lord grant each one of you His grace, His strength, His blessing of good health, and His joy in the amazing week that now awaits us all.
