Election Day Prayer Vigil:

Praying Through 2 Chronicles 7:14

WEEK FOUR: Seek His Face

[This five-part series for an Election Day Prayer Vigil has been developed by Mary Fox Murphy, Founder and President, Christian Women's Outreach, in Stillwater, OK. In lieu of offerings, Mary is simply asking that we share this prayer strategy with others in our own network of friends. Thank you, Mary!]

A NOTE FROM CHPP:

We have been truly blessed by the TREMENDOUS RESPONSE we have seen to Mary's call for prayers, following the guidelines of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

We join all of you in searching our hearts before our Lord, in advance of the congressional elections on Nov. 2, for it is written that judgment must surely begin in the house of the Lord. (I Peter 4:17)
As we seek His face, we ask Him, indeed, to forgive our sin, and to heal our land. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

Praying Through 2 Chronicles 7:14 - by Mary Fox Murphy

In searching the depths of my heart and soul and seeking the Lord, I believe there may be a reason we are not victorious in our pursuit for spiritual change in this nation. I think we all stand right now LOOKING FOR TRUE HOPE AND CHANGE FOR THIS NATION. I sincerely ask you to pray about joining with me in this PRAYER VIGIL.

Blessings, Mary

PRAYER VIGIL:
SEPTEMBER 26 - OCTOBER 24, 2010

There are numerous prayer initiatives right now. Prayer leaders across the nation are asking you to PRAY FOR THE USA. One of those will be right for you. I am also proposing one to begin Sept. 26 and ending on Sunday, Oct. 24.

If you join with us for the next five weeks, I will send out PRAYER POINTS for each week. This will not be like most of those that are being suggested.

I contend that the Body of Christ must be well (in right standing with the Father) for God to HEAL OUR LAND. Each week the PRAYER POINTS will follow II Chronicles 7:14.

It is my strong belief that God wants His Body in ONE ACCORD AND WELL.

If we do this as a BODY, He will do one of two things.

1. He will either HEAL OUR LAND.
2. Or He will bring His Cleansing to America.

But, if you are His, He will protect you through whatever is in our future.

There is no guarantee that God will heal our land. The sins of this nation may be too raw, too deep, too insidious and too overt for Him to stay His Hand of Judgment. He has ways and means of cleansing a nation's sins. Throughout Biblical history we see when, where, and how God cleanses cultures, nations, and people groups. We are no exception. This may be our last opportunity to make a change in this nation.

If you do not join this prayer initiative, then please join in one of the others to PRAY FOR THE USA.
MAY GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY BE WITH YOU THROUGH THESE VERY PERILOUS SPIRITUAL TIMES AND MAY HE BLESS YOU GREATLY . . .
AND STRENGTHEN YOU TO STAND.

Prayer Vigil: WEEK FOUR

Sunday, Oct. 17 - Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010

Praying Through 2 Chronicles 7:14

2 Chr 7:14 "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK:

" and SEEK MY FACE. . . . "

"When you said, Seek my face; my heart said unto you, your face, LORD, will I seek. 9Hide not your face far from me; put not your servant away in anger: You have been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation." Psalm 27:8,9

When the Lord speaks of "seeking His Face" in 2 Chron. 7:14, we are to heed his Word. It is not a suggestion and He is not giving us a choice. It is a command from our Father in Heaven. He demands it for our benefit because He wants our love and because He wants us to receive the rewards that come with "seeking Him." He wants to greatly bless us. It is all about an affair of the heart. It's simply a love relationship.

"Seeking His Face" implies that we are so close to the Lord that we will be able to

• Feel His breath upon us, and choose to please Him,
• Understand His thoughts,
• Flourish with great wisdom which He gives to us,
• Know His ways and His righteousness,
• Automatically respond to Him with a sincere humility,
• Reap the benefit of His guidance,
• Hear Him clearly, and know that He is ours and we are His,
• Abide in the wondrous Peace that passes all understanding regardless of our circumstances and,
• Flourish in the" life more abundantly" when we approach Him with love in our hearts for Him.

"Seeking His Face" is the one way in which the Lord "knows us." It is through our seeking Him daily with a pure heart and a contrite spirit that we get to Know Him and He gets to Know Us. It is not through our wondrous works and accomplishments, nor our eloquent speech, nor our appearance; it is through our worship and adoration of Him that He sees and knows our heart.

Prayer Points for WEEK FOUR

1. Pray that we will learn to seek Him the FIRST thing of each day. PRAY THAT THIS BECOMES A HABIT WITH US.

Matt. 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

2. Pray that we will put our trust in Him and seek Him with our whole heart daily. Pray that we don't just run to Him when we are in trouble.

Psalms 9:10 And they that know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek thee.

3. Pray that as we seek Him each day, we gain in wisdom and understanding.

Proverbs 28:5 Evil men don't understand judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Psalms 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

4. Pray that as we seek the Lord, we come to understand His Ways and His Righteousness. Pray that He will give us guidance in these areas.

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he comes and rains righteousness upon you.

5. Pray that we learn to "seek the Giver" and not the gift. Pray that we do not seek Him for what we can "get" from Him, but seek Him only with a pure heart of love in worship.

John 7:18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

Amos 5:14 Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the LORD God of hosts will be with you, as you have spoken.

6. Pray that as you seek Him, you will understand more and more about worship.

Psalms 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

7. Pray that as we enter into His Gates with Thanksgiving and His Courts with Praise that we come in great FAITH believing and confessing that the one we worship is the one who rewards us with Everlasting Life.

Heb 11:16 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Acts 17:27-28 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'

Thank you for praying with us this week. I know that the committed prayer of the faithful will avail much.

I Chron. 16:10-12

Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!

11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!
12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
