The Daily Brief - Thursday, October 14, 2010

"Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigns." (Rev. 19:6)

The Daily Brief

1. Tomorrow is "Islam on the Hill" - CHPP

100,000 Moslems Expected to Converge on the Hill for Day-long Rally

This largely unpublicized event is scheduled to take place at different sites on the Hill on Friday, October 15th. The Executive Directer & Host for this event is Imam Abdul Malik. For more information, visit their website

A similar event was supposed to take place about one year ago, sponsored by the same Islamic groups. There were 50,000 expected, but in the end, fewer than 3,000 (at the most) actually appeared.

- Lord, we pray that You will extend Your mighty protection over Washington DC tomorrow. We plead the Blood of Jesus over the Hill and over all areas, and we bind the spirits of the enemy from that place, so that his plans will fail. We loose Your Holy Spirit throughout the Capitol and the White House , and ask that You prevail over the day, so that the souls of many will be saved.

- "Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly." (Psalm 6:10)

2. Military Ballots May not Count in Illinois - WLS News

The U.S. Justice Department is investigating whether the state of Illinois missed the deadline for mailing absentee ballots to members of the military and other overseas American voters as part of a new federal overseas voting law.

Cris Cray, Director of Legislation at the Illinois State Board of Elections, says not all of Illinois' 110 jurisdictions were compliant with the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (MOVE).

- Lord, we pray that You will get our troops the ballots they need to vote in these elections. We bind and rebuke every plan of the enemy to take away our troop's voting rights.

- 'For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, and will make with them an everlasting covenant." (Isaiah 61:8)

3. U.S.: We want clear path, not two-month delay of peace process deadlock - Ha'aretz

U.S. State Department Spokesman Philip J. Crowley responds to Netanyahu's proposal to extend the settlement freeze in exchange for Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.

- Father, we ask that You bind any and all evil forces that would try to take away Israel's right to exist and build settlements in their own land. God, cry out from heaven and let Your voice be heard that Your word has established Israel as the mightiest nation forever and no power, people or nation can remove them from the land or the earth. Resist their enemy face to face and drive them out. Bring down in utter defeat by the power of the blood of Jesus all the works of satan in the Land of Israel. Totally conquer their enemies. Endow Netanyahu with the spirit of the Lord to stand tall in the position of leadership You have placed him in for the sake of his people, the Jewish nation. In Jesus Name.

- "But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile." (Romans 2:10)

4. Ahmadinejad opens visit to Lebanon amid fears of Iranian takeover - ICEJ News

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived to a tumultuous welcome in Beirut on Wednesday as he paid his first official state visit to Lebanon amid charges the move is part of Iran's bid to seize de facto control of the country through its proxy militia Hizbullah in order to open a direct front against Israel.

- God, we ask that angels will show up at this meeting to hold back the enemy's plans and forecasts. Scramble asunder their words that nothing make any sense. Send the fear of God into their midst and may they conclude the meeting with utter defeat and no progress. In Jesus Name.

- "They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: their feet are swift to shed blood: destruction and misery are in their ways." (Romans 3:12-14)

5. Chile's Rescue Formula: 75% Science, 25% Miracle - Wall Street Journal

One by one, they emerged through a swinging door, out of a pit a half-mile deep, pumping fists and hugging family. A great-grandfather. A 44-year-old who promised a church wedding for his wife. A 19-year-old greeted by his father. And, lastly, the miners' 54-year-old foreman. Chile's image on the world stage was burnished by the country's successful rescue of 33 trapped miners, Carolina Pica discusses. The rescue of Chile's 33 trapped miners came to a joyous and successful close less than 24 hours after extraction began, when Luis Urzua walked out of the Phoenix capsule.

- Father, how we rejoice at a news story with complete joy in it, rather than despair and sorrow. And Thank You for these miners who prayed each day, and thank You for hearing their heartfelt words and hopes. They did not pray to a false god, but only to You and You heard them. And on 10-13-10, You brought every last one of them out safely, including the 6 rescuers. Praise Your Holy Name!

10+13+10=33 miners rescued. 33 miners +6 rescuers =39 divided by 3=13 the day of final rescue #3 = the number of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

- "Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." (Jeremiah 33:3)

6. China to U.S.- Stay out of Our Sea -- WND

China has begun to stage its biggest strategic challenge to the United States since the creation of the Communist state in 1949, attempting to push the U.S. out of East Asia, particularly attacking the presence of the U.S. in the South China Sea, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

In response to the challenge that directly confronts U.S. political and strategic standing in the region, the U.S. diplomatically has stiffened its position.

The challenge has come in the form of provocative buzzing of U.S. naval ships and aircraft on surveillance duties in international waters.

- Father, we pray for Your protection over our vessels in international waters. We erect a hedge of protection and the fire of the Holy Spirit over all of them, and pray that every time a plane "buzzes" our ships, they would visions of the Heavenly Host.

- "Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and be bowed his head and fell flat on his face." (Numbers 22:31)

Vigilance Needed: How socialists will steal the 2010 elections

Its hard to believe, but there are a lot of ways to steal elections. And with the Chicago political machine in the White House, Americans are going to find out the best of them, assuming we haven't already. Did it ever occur to you that in various tight races across the country, they usually went to the Democratic candidate? How about the Norm Coleman-Al Franken contest in the US Senate as an example? Coleman was ahead in the ballot count by hundreds of votes. Franken, aided by billionaire Geroge Soros, mounted an unprecedented legal campaign to "recount" the votes. Recounts are not really recounts at all. The process requires disqualifying votes. In this case absentee military votes were rejected.

Another Chicago brainchild of voter fraud with close ties to the current Administration was ACORN. Judicial Watch, a governmental watchdog group, obtained documents from its Freedom of Information filings that revealed the arrests of eight people conducting voter fraud in Missouri. Another such investigation was conducted in Connecticut. Between 2004 and 2006, ACORN had been implicated in investigations in 12 states, and in 2007 were involved in the largest instance of voter fraud in Washington state's history. In 2009, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issued an 88 page report which declared that "[t]he weight of evidence against ACORN and its affiliates is astounding."

US military servicemen and women have traditionally voted against candidates who espouse a liberal agenda. It should be no surprise then that in large Democratic states, the votes of those protecting our nation overseas may not count this year. New Mexico, California, New York, and of course, Illinois, conveniently violated the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act of 2009--a law sponsored by the Democratic Party to make sure absentee ballots of the military were sent out on time. In reality the law set a deadline that many states did not meet, making the ballots challengeable in the courts. How clever to be able to count votes only if certain judges say its OK.

The right to vote is a foundational underpinning of America's Constitutional Republic. Yet the very group of people that launch huge media campaigns to get you out to vote, are the very ones who fight to make sure your vote is rejected if their candidates races are in question. There is no shortage of deception and hypocrisy in politics. And these are just some of the reasons why as Christians we must stand for righteousness. Jesus said in Matthew 5:20, "That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." The scribes and Pharisees were akin to the politicians during the days of Jesus--only ours are a reflection of us.

Update: DADT

Judge Plays Politics with National Defense

Last night's decision by California federal district Judge Virginia Phillips that the military must immediately stop enforcing the law prohibiting open homosexuality in the Armed Services is a clear example of an activist judge playing politics with our national defense. The Associated Press reported, "Phillips' decision was widely cheered by gay rights organizations that credited her with getting accomplished what President Obama and Washington politics could not."

This is the very definition of judicial activism -- when you are unable to achieve your desired policy goals through the democratic process, simply go to court and get a judge to decree that it must be so. Judge Phillips cast aside the deference that the courts have long shown to the constitutional role of Congress and military leaders in setting personnel policies. Last month, the U.S. Senate voted against proceeding with overturning the law in part because of the strong opposition of all four service chiefs and also in deference to the Pentagon's ongoing study of the potential impact on readiness and morale of allowing open homosexuality.

I have no doubt that these moves will only further the desire of voters to change Congress. Americans are upset and want to change the face of government because of activist judges and arrogant politicians who will not listen to common sense and reason of the American people and, as importantly, the Constitution.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has 60 days in which to appeal this ruling. However, we are urging DOJ to file an immediate appeal to avert what Sec. Robert Gates describes as "enormous consequences" resulting from the injunction. Congress should make clear that it will not tolerate this judicial activism. I encourage you to contact both Congress and the Department of Justice and tell them that the military should not be used to advance a liberal social agenda, and that they should stand up to this judge who has disregarded both the views of all four military service chiefs and the constitutional role of Congress. Update: Planned Parenthood

Pregnancy is Not a Disease and Planned Parenthood is No Cure

It turns out that the over $650 million that federal taxpayers gave to abortion giant Planned Parenthood from 2002-2007 is not enough. The billion dollars a year abortion monolith is now proclaiming it wants to use your tax dollars to pay for birth control for everyone, all under the aspects of Obamacare. Bottom line, birth control should not be covered because it is an elective treatment, not a necessary one.

It is only "preventive" of pregnancy -- but pregnancy is not a disease. If you will remember, during the health care debate Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) attached an amendment that she finally admitted was a "gift" to Planned Parenthood under the guise of "family planning." As we all know, Planned Parenthood and the Obama Administration view abortion as being included in their definition of "family planning." Even if surgical abortion funding were barred, it is likely Planned Parenthood would try to include the abortifacient drug, Ella, as well as Plan B, which can also cause an abortion.

This news comes on the heels of learning that the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has given Planned Parenthood $7.5 million. Private organizations should be wary, and the federal government should avoid, giving any money to an organization that now annually performs over 350,000 abortions annually while continuing to reduce the already small number of other services, including cancer screenings, that they do. Muslim Brotherhood General Guide

Let Us Be Like The Fighters At The Battle Of Badr

Since taking office in January 2010, Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Muhammad Badi' has released frequent communiqués encouraging jihad. In a weekly sermon, in which he marked the anniversary of the Battle of Badr in 624 CE - the first battle in which the Prophet Muhammad triumphed over the infidels, the Quraysh tribe of Mecca - Badi' called upon the Muslims to follow in the footsteps of the fighters of Badr, who waged a jihad war that was forced upon them and overcame the infidels despite their small numbers, by virtue of their yearning for Paradise. He urged the Muslims to wage such jihad in order to rescue their oppressed brothers in Palestine, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, and other places. (MEMRI) Read more.

Prayer Focus:

Father, we will not be blind-sided this time. Disassemble this group that they be weak-handed and weary causing their strength to be weak as water. Disclose their whereabouts, that even their thoughts be discerned. Uncover all that is in darkness. Control even the wind to carry their message to the world who will take up arms and fight their cause before they destroy. Send warring angels who will go into hand-to-hand combat with all the members of this group and they be wiped out. Save the souls of any that would turn to believe in Jesus as Savior. In Jesus Name.
Scripture:

"For a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which has wings shall tell the matter." ( Ecclesiastes 10:20)

Quoting One Chilean Miner

Chilean Miner: "God Has Never Left Us"

Jimmy Sanchez, one of the 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped for over two months in the San Jose copper-gold mine in the Atacama Desert, would like to make one small correction to all the stories about life in the mine:

"There are actually 34 of us," the nineteen-year-old miner wrote in a letter sent up from the mine on Tuesday, "because God has never left us down here."

"In the midst of this catastrophe, God is in control, and it is the Lord who has kept their family members alive," says Marcelo Leiva, pastor of Vallenar Baptist Church in Vallenar, Chile.
As the hours tick away toward the expected rescue, the families holding vigil at San Jose are far from the only ones praying for the safe and speedy rescue of the 33 men. Spirits are so high that the miners are fighting among themselves about who will be the last to ascend-too many men are volunteering to stay down till the end. They've also contacted a lawyer to work out a deal by which they can share profits equally from the story.

Whatever happens when he and his compatriots stand in sunlight once again, Jimmy Sanchez wants to hold on to the lessons he's learned in the past few months.

"God wanted me to stay here, I don't know, maybe so I change from now on," Sanchez wrote."I have thought and I'll change a lot. I have suffered too much and don't want to suffer any more. In the hard moments I was thankful of God because I got a daughter. I expect than when my turn arrives everything will be OK. Hugs for everyone."

21 Days of United Prayer for Elections

21 DAYS OF NOON PRAYER

Published by MorningStar Ministries

[Note: this new feature will run daily through the midterm elections on Tuesday, November 2.

We received today's feature from MorningStar Ministries too late to be published on their "start date"; please prayerfully consider joining them now for the remainder of their 21-day period of prayer and fasting for the elections.]

Beginning October 13th, through Election Day, November 2nd, will you pray each day at noon for the elections?

I know some of you are already fasting and praying, and some are involved in other prayer focuses regarding the elections. Hallelujah! The more the better. How much difference can this network make if we come together AS ONE to pray daily for the last 21 days leading up to the November elections? These elections are pivotal, and we need righteous men and women in office, or at least those who are willing to stand for righteousness.

Most of the members of this network represent prayer groups, prayer teams, ministries, or even whole churches. Think of the power of agreement we have when we come together AS ONE!
Will you join together AS ONE?

As we pray, we come from different backgrounds and cultures with differing levels of authority. Regardless, we all have an assignment for the land the Lord has given to us. If we allow the Lord to direct our prayers, so that it is Him flowing through us, rendering ourselves to Him as a vessel of prayer, He will be able to conduct us like a symphony. That's the strength we have in joining together. A band of instruments can produce a more powerful sound than one playing alone. With that in mind, let our symphony rise together to bring righteousness back to our land!
Prayer Points to add to your own:

Praise God as the One True God. Give honor and glory to Jesus, the only begotten Son of the Father. If He is not supreme in OUR hearts, how can He be supreme in the nation?

• Thank the Lord for His mercy on this nation, and ask Him for great grace in these elections.
• Pray for the warriors to arise for these elections. Awaken the praying hearts.
• Pray that the men and women of God will rise up and vote according to the leading of the Spirit of God.
• Pray for justice in the elections - that wickedness in heavenly places will not prevail and manipulations of man in the earthly realm will not alter the election outcomes.
• Pray for the wisdom of God to prevail in our prayers, in our votes, and in our polls.
• Pray for deeds of darkness to be exposed prior to the elections - for the Light of Christ to reveal the hidden agendas and misplaced priorities that have escaped the public eye.
• Intercede for godliness and righteousness to prevail:
• That the forces of darkness will be rendered ineffective in controlling and manipulating these elections.
• That the enemy's plots will fail.
• That justice and righteousness will be unleashed on this nation in a revival-like fashion, and that the political mountain shall become the mountain of the Lord.

The Good News Corner:

Fifth Circuit Upholds Texas Pledge of Allegiance

Federal appeals court rejects plaintiffs' constitutional challenge to the State pledge
AUSTIN - The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit today ruled that the Texas Pledge of Allegiance is constitutional. The federal court's decision rejected an appeal filed by a Dallas couple, who unsuccessfully argued that the State's Pledge violated the First Amendment's Establishment Clause.

"Today a federal appeals court rejected a challenge to the Texas Pledge of Allegiance and found that it is constitutional for the State to acknowledge religious faith," Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said. "This ruling marks not only a second consecutive victory for the State pledge, but also a victory for all Texans' constitutionally protected rights and freedoms."

The words "under God" were added to the Texas Pledge of Allegiance in 2007. That year, the plaintiffs filed a lawsuit challenging the phrase's constitutionality and sought an injunction banning its use. In the district court, the State successfully argued that reciting the Texas Pledge is a patriotic exercise - and is protected by the constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of religion. The federal district court issued a decision rejecting the plaintiffs' challenge in 2009, and the plaintiffs appealed their loss to the Fifth Circuit.

In today's ruling, the Fifth Circuit affirmed the lower court's decision, ruling that the Texas Pledge ". . . is a patriotic exercise, and it is made no less so by the acknowledgement of Texas's religious heritage via the inclusion of the phrase 'under God.'"

The appeals court also denied the plaintiffs' argument that the Texas Pledge endorses a particular religious belief. Rather, the ruling acknowledged: "A pledge can constitutionally acknowledge the existence of, and even value, a religious belief without impermissibly favoring that value or belief, without advancing belief over non-belief, and without coercing participation in a religious exercise. Texas's pledge is of this sort and consequently survives this challenge."

The Texas Pledge of Allegiance reads: "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
