1. US Senate Confirms Sotomayor for Supreme Court - VOA News
The U.S. Senate has confirmed the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor as an associate justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. President Barack Obama welcomed the 68 to 31 vote, which came after three days of debate on Sotomayor's judicial record and public statements.
- Father, we ask that You would touch her heart now that she has been appointed to this post, and bring great conviction upon her that she will not use this position to accomplish any personal agendas. God, you are a righteous judge who will render to every man according to his deeds. In Jesus Name.

2. Health Care Town Halls Turn Violent - AP
Town hall meetings called to discuss proposed health care legislation turned violent Thursday, with a meeting in Tampa, Fla., descending into shouting and one in St. Louis ending in arrests. Close to 1,500 people came to the Tampa suburb of Ybor City to speak with Democratic State Rep. Betty Reed and U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, an event that exploded into a near riot. . .

The White House strategy of turning supporters into snitches when they see "fishy" information about the health care debate may run afoul of the law, legal experts say.

3. U.S. food stamp list tops 34 million for first time - Reuters
For the first time, more than 34 million Americans received food stamps in May, the government said on Thursday, another symptom of the longest and one of the deepest recessions since the Great Depression.
- God, we plead the cause of all these people. Redeem the time and turn back the horror of this situation - food stamps equal insufficient funds, which equals jobless people eking out a living on less than is adequate. May there be a spirit of repentance upon all America, where there is a return to the God of our American heritage. In Jesus Name.

4. Republicans 'troubled' by US policy on Israel - AP
The Obama administration's policy on Israel is misguided, puts too much emphasis on the issue of settlements and ignores the bigger threat of a nuclear-armed Iran, a U.S. delegation of Republican congressmen visiting Israel said Thursday.
Led by minority whip Eric Cantor from Virginia, the only Jewish Republican in Congress, the delegation of 25 Republicans say their weeklong mission to Israel is designed to show solidarity with the Jewish state and promote Mideast peace. A group of Democratic congressmen are expected to visit next week.
- Lord, let this deceptive ploy be exposed for what it is - not the issue of settlements - but the issue of Israel's destruction. Father, You are the God of Israel and it is You who will go to their defense and bring defeat to all their enemies. We ask that America not be Israel's enemy, but that America will stand with Israel to the very end. We pray for Your protection over Israel and America and that we as a nation will never move to divide the Land of Israel. And Father, we ask that You protect Israel with Your blood and that You pull back the curtain and expose all of Iran's nuclear weapons, that the nations will be well informed of what Iran is doing . 5. Air Strike Said to Kill Pakistani Taliban Chief - Wall Street Journal
The leader of the Pakistani Taliban was killed in a drone strike by U.S. forces, Pakistani officials said.
- Father, we ask that You deal with the hearts of every member of the Taliban to repent of his evil ways and fall upon the mercy of God who will save his soul. They are not hidden from the eyes of the Lord; their evil is like a stench going up to heaven. The Lord would say, "Repent." In Jesus Name.

6. Pakistan: Anti-Christian Riots Prompt Law Review - NewsMax
Pakistan's prime minister pledged on Thursday to review laws that may be sharpening tension among Pakistan's religious communities, days after a Muslim mob burned homes in rioting that left eight Christians dead.
- Lord, we look to you for divine justice upon all those who have laid their hands upon God's people. Send Your warring angels into Pakistan and surround every Christian and their homes and possessions with angelic protection that no more blood be shed. In Jesus Name.

The European Union will not send a traditional note of congratulations to Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on being sworn into a second presidential term.

Officials say Predator drone strikes, like that which killed Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud, Usama bin Laden's son, suggest U.S. intelligence has crossed major threshold.

Increasing tensions between Israel and Hizbullah are the result of growing concern that Syria will transfer "balance-altering" weaponry to the Iranian-backed group in the event of a new conflict with Israel, a top defense official has told The Jerusalem Post.
2. U.S. asks Israel for one-year settlement freeze - Ha'arez
American Middle East envoy George Mitchell has asked Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak for a "deposit," an advance commitment of a one-year freeze on construction in West Bank settlements.
3. Obama spies monitoring Jews house-to-house - WND
The Obama administration has set up an apparatus to closely monitor Jewish construction in Jerusalem and the strategic West Bank to the point of watching Israeli moves house-to-house in certain key neighborhoods, WND has learned.
4. Arafat assassination accusation irks Israel - Jerusalem Post
The Fatah conference's unanimous resolution Thursday to hold Israel responsible for the death of Yasser Arafat left Israeli officials annoyed and bemused, with Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai remarking there was a better chance of negotiations on Mars than in the region, and Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon saying the conference was a "serious blow to peace."
"Stop Talking!"
My friends, I've just seen an incredible video of the President of the United States speaking in my backyard, right here in Northern Virginia. He told a crowd that he doesn't want to hear any more "talking" from folks who disagree with him. I'm stunned.
Here's what Obama said: "I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking." (You can watch the video here.)

What "mess" is he talking about? . . . in the birthplace of presidents -- the state that gave us George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison -- Obama essentially told conservative Americans to shut up. Our Founding Fathers risked their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to throw off the yoke of tyranny so that future generations might be blessed with freedom, including the freedom of speech.
But now, Obama expects us to sit down, shut up and go to the back of the bus, while he, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid take a hard left and drive us full speed toward European-style socialism. I am not going to sit down, and I hope you don't either. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Aug. 7, 2009)

White House Press Corps Asks Tough Questions
Yesterday, the White House Press Corps, in a wide- ranging 8-minute question-and-answer session with Obama's Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, asked a series of tough questions about the White House's response to the national uproar over its health reform package.
Indeed, the "grand damme" of the White House Press Corps, Miss Helen Thomas, alleged that the Obama administration is failing to make its case to the American people about this plan, citing specific features of the plan that are causing public concern.
We want to thank the members of the Fourth Estate this week for this breakthrough: no longer are they simply repeating the propaganda being spewed out by 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but they are now asking the hard questions that all of us need to hear.

White House Vilifies Americans
Who Exercise Right To Free Speech
The White House and Democratic elected representatives have authorized the Democratic National Committee to attack every American who disagrees with the man who occupies the Oval Office. A DNC attack ad calls Americans who are exercising their right to free speech--extremists, radical, an angry mob, and even uses terminology implying protestors have links to organized crime, calling them "the mob." Indeed, the Democratic leadership and Congressmen who are facing angry protestors at town hall meetings are saying they are "cranks", "radical extremists", and akin to Hitler's minions.
White House New Media Director Macon Phillips has issued an unprecedented call for Americans to turn in other Americans if they believe someone is spreading "fishy" information about White House plans. Phillips posted this on the White House web site: "There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can't keep track of all of them here at the White House, we're asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."
A coup de tat is being waged against America. This government's "remaking" of America strategy is to destroy every economic foundation of this country and make the people totally dependent on the federal government. This will usher in one of the largest socialist takeovers of a free society in history. Government takeover of the mortgage and financial industries impacts your housing and finances. And government takeover of your healthcare choices puts the government intimately in control of every aspect of your life from mandating vaccinations to rationing what health services you receive to pressuring you on your end of life decisions.
As much as colonial Americans fought for their Liberty against the most powerful government on earth in 1776, Americans today face a tyrannical government that has declared war on the American way of life. This government is trying: to oppress freedom of speech by vilifying its citizens; to destroy the economy and replace it with a socialist dictatorship; to impose its immorality by forcing taxpayers to fund abortion, euthanasia counseling and homosexuality; to end this longstanding American Revolution of a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Stand against this principality of darkness or you will lose your liberty.
