1. Tornado Touches Down as Lutherans Vote on Sexuality Statement - Christianity Today
Most reports from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) assembly today attempt to tie together the denomination's vote to adopt a sexuality statement and the tornado strike on the Minneapolis Convention Center where the Lutherans were meeting. (No one was injured.)
- Lord, as denominations across this country meet to make important decisions, we pray that they will turn to the Word for guidance. We pray for boldness for those who speak against heresy.
- "When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, And brings out the wind from His storehouses." (Jeremiah 10:13)

President Obama took to the conservative airwaves Thursday to charge that Republican leaders are engaged in a vast right-wing conspiracy to kill health care reform in order to repeat the 1994 mid- term takeover of Congress, which followed the defeat of President Clinton's reform plan. - May any plans that are being made in secret come into the light. We pray that the truth will be aired about all the plans that affect healthcare and government controls.
- "To fear the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, evil behavior, and twisted speech." (Proverbs 8:13)
3. Obama admin. to end cash for clunkers on Monday - AP
The Obama administration plans to end the popular $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program on Monday, giving car shoppers a few more days to take advantage of big government incentives.
- We pray for wisdom for those in government who are making laws that affect the citizens of this nation. We pray that they will be good stewards of the resources and trust they are given.
- "For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd." (Zechariah 10:2)
4. Indictments Charge Mexican Cartel Members With Pumping Drugs Into Major U.S. Cities - Fox News
Federal prosecutors today unveiled a dozen new indictments charging that accused Mexican drug cartel members pumped vast quantities of drugs into major U.S. cities.
- Lord, give strength to those in law enforcement who are bravely standing up against these evil men. May the safety of the innocents be the driving impetus behind enforcing our laws.
- "Hate evil, love good, And establish justice in the gate! Perhaps the LORD God of hosts May be gracious to the remnant of Joseph." (Amos 5:15)
5. EU states agree to take in Guantanamo prisoners - EU
Observer Six European Union member states have agreed to accept detainees from the notorious US facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a report in the Washington Post on Thursday.
- Where ever these prisoners go, we pray for safety for those who are tasked with guarding them and for those who live near to the prisons. May the governments of these nations be strong and not release them.
- "But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES." (1 Corinthians 5:13)
6. 'Saudi Arabia working on plans to build a nuclear power plant' - Jerusalem Post
With the world seemingly unable to stop Iran's nuclear march, other countries in the region are now pushing forward with their own plans to build nuclear power plants.
- We pray that the pathways which are allowing this technology to spread will be blocked and there will be no more spreading of this menace.
- "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end." (Matthew 24:6)

1. Israelis more wary of Saudi peace plan than Palestinians - Jerusalem Post
Fifty-four percent of Israelis oppose the US-backed Saudi peace initiative, while 58% of Palestinians favor it, according to a recent study by the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah.
2. Report: Mubarak opposes US defense umbrella - Ynet News
The United States has offered Israel, Egypt and Persian Gulf countries to be part of a nuclear umbrella against an Iranian attack, Egyptian newspaper al- Gumhoria reported Thursday.

Invoking God To Deceive The Masses
The Federal government is at war with you. We see it everyday. The attacks are worse and worse. Even the political pundits are beginning to call it warfare, although they have not thought the unthinkable because they are calling it "political warfare." But it is all out war--and the White House is employing the ancient axioms of Sun Tzu that "all warfare is based on deception," and "In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy's country whole and intact." The true art of war is to deceive the enemy and break the enemy's resistance without fighting. And that is what the usurpers are desperately trying to do to the American public.
The man who occupies the Oval Office recently held a conference call with some 1,000 Jewish rabbis trying to enlist their help in passing socialized medicine. He said, "We are God's partners in life and death." Washington Jewish Week reports that before the conference call began, the music on the holding line was 'Deutschland uber Alles,' " a classical German anthem, the lyrics to which in part say, "Preserve and protect our Kaiser, our land", which raised some eyebrows. On another conference call with about 1,000 leftists, OOO invoked one of the Ten Commandments, saying that Americans were "bearing false witness" by spreading "misinformation" about his socialist healthcare plan.
Any and all means of deception and control is being used to pass this vital foundation to completing the socialist coup in America. Democratic Congressmen are using profound strong arm tactics to get health insurance companies to support socialized medicine. The Democratic leadership has sent 52 letters to health insurers giving them until September 4 to provide Congress a detailed list of every employee who made over a $1 million dollars a year between 2003 and 2008, and documents about conferences and any events held off company property as well as the types of transportation, lodging, food, entertainment and even gifts exchanged.
And there are concerns that swine flu will be used to create panic to force Americans to be vaccinated with a deadly swine flu vaccine. London's Daily Mail reports that the UK's Health Protection Agency sent a letter warning over 600 neurologists that the vaccine could trigger a brain disorder that "attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breath, and can be fatal." In a war of deception, creating panic, even using the word of God to do so, delivers control. Isaiah 32:6 says, "For the vile person will speak villainy, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail."

It is often said that Muslims are hard to reach with the Gospel. For religious, cultural and spiritual reasons this is often true. However it is not impossible. The Bible tells us that nothing is impossible for God (Mt. 19:26).
Do I agree with God that nothing is too hard for Him? Faith is important but do I also love Muslims? What is my most profound reaction when I meet them, when I see them on television? How would I react if a man in Muslim clothing came to my church? How would I react if a new believer from a Muslim background wanted to marry into my family? Would I be willing to give a thousand dollars so someone could proclaim the Gospel among Muslims? Would I be willing to sit and eat with a Muslim in a crowded restaurant? Have I been involved in criticizing them without knowing them? Am I fearful of Muslims? Is my main attitude toward them one of mistrust? Am I able to do as Jesus says, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself"? Is this my desire, is this my goal?
Be honest with God. Pray as He directs you. If it seems appropriate, pray for yourself and / or other believers around the world who may also be struggling with their attitudes, ideas and actions toward Muslims. Scriptures: Mt. 19:26, Jeremiah 32:27, Romans 12:1-2
